Sweimeh is a new graduate from medical school and I took her for her first year teaching. She is helpful when you ask. But not a good prof. for JC she needs to teach at a UC becuase she goes to fast for a CHEM class she went through the whole book almost. Hard teacher but nice one on one. Wouldnt recommend her if you dont like CHEMISTRY.
She is not that great she was the worst teacher I ever had since elementary school teaching wise. She was nice but had mood swings and don't you dare let your cell phone go off she will kick u out of class. She complains even about you going to the bathroom during lecture
Although her english isnt up to par and some things are hard to understand, she is a pretty good teacher. She was always there when i needed help. Her tests arent too hard. But some questions require a good algebra background so dont take her class if u arent good at math. Overall, a decent teacher.
** Chemistry is a hard class. Sweimeh is a great professor one on one but in the classroom it's kinfd of hard to understand her with alot of other students around. She cares about her students and she tries to help as much as possible. She is very caring but don't ignore what she says. STUDY FROM DAY 1 and you should do ok
she is the best! if u don't get an A in her class, u r stupid. In her class, there is not reason u wouldn't understand chemistry.take her
hard teacher. U have a chem background.. don't try it if u are not really ready for chem
Very nice, helpful and smart. but the problem is that she hasn't figured the right way to teach. u will need to study by ur self. yet she will help u alot when ask for help. overall, it's ur choice!
even though she's new~but really lovely~love her~she's always trying to help~and explaining the stuff really clear~but her quizzes are not as easy as other instructors'~take her if u wanna learn chemistry~
Great friendly professor. She took us bowling after finals. She was really sweet to me and my children. I thank her for her encouragement and MS SWEIMAH dont let these ratings offend you your great. Class was hard but your kindness makes it easy. THANK YOU. AW
She is the best chem teacher you will ever have, she is extremly helpful, and you learn alot. also she is not hard if you study.
Dr.Sweimeh is one of the new generation teachers at pcc. She is extremely helpful, understanding, and fair. She may not speak very well English but she does her job to get the information across to her students and cares for the students that show appreciation in chem. We need more teachers like her at pcc.
I recieved As in her Chem 8A/B (Winter/Spring 06). She's very orthodox since she teaches by the book. Her lecture tests are fair if you study, do all the problems and understand all the mechanisms. Her lab quizzes can be hard at times. She's a very down to earth professor and makes o-chem fun. Also, she's a good bowler or I suck at bowling...
This class is hard for the summer session,.. too much to cram. This teacher is not too bad but her notes are hard to follow. Anyone getting A's in this class is a nerd or STUDIES 24/7. She doesn't help in the LAB, good luck on your own. p.s her quizes are like tests.
She is one of the best chem prof in pcc..She makes o chem so much much fun. Her lecture are easy to follow and she emphasizes on the key things that she wants you to know. Tests are easier than other professors and she grades softly sometimes. Also, she took us to dinner and bowling after final. Definitely take her for o chem, highly recommended!!!
Dr. Sweimeh was a good teacher for Introductory Chemistry. Her lectures are very clear and she uses the book for support. Gives practice quizes and review problems to prepare for tests and exams.
Read directly from the textbook. But I don't know where the test question come from. Rush material so she can leave early. Maybe in a hurry home to get a SN2 from her stericly hinder behind. She will take away points if you ask her question reguarding your test.
Lecture wasn't too bad. But agree that she doesn't help much in lab. You are pretty much on your own. But an A is certainly duable.
the test is getting harder than the previous semesters for chem 8B.
She is a funny and nice lady. I got an A and I hate Chem but studied a lot. She helped me a lot in the labs..actually she would tell me answers if I asked her! Her tests are very fair. Not an easy A but it would be an easy B. I took her over the summer and it was intense! Take Dr. Sweimeh if you need a clear, organized chem professor.
This class is HARD, but Sweimeh is amazing! Her practice problem sets made me cry on more than one occasion, but they prepare you really well for the tests. And She is always there to help you if you need it. She's one of the smartest people I've ever met and she really cares about her students-she'll know everyone's name in the first class
o-chem is not fun when the teacher talks fast and brushes through everything. just read the book and do problems. rely on her discussion worksheets and assigned book problems for similiar problems on the test. his test are pretty managable. i recommend you to take galaxy because of shortcuts.
Dr.Sweimeh is by far the best chemistry professor at PCC. She is very understanding and very helpful. She is a little bit tought, but hey its chemistry and you cant slack off. You have to work a little hard in her class, but then again it is chemistry and its not easy. She explains the lessons very clearly and you remember things she teaches. If y
She explains every thing very clear and writes every thing on the transparent plastic. Only have to read the notes for the test, but the tests and quizes are tricky. Have to ask her during office hour or lab. Overall, she is pretty good in teaching and very helpful. I plan to take her if she teaches 2B organic.
U Building third floor is horrible! However, her lecture is clear for the most part unless she's behind schedule, then she rushes on key concepts. her tests are tricky as he has little nuances. the time constraints were hard to deal with it, so don't waste time studying from the book..review notes and mcweb before tests. no partial credit blows!
She's kinda hot... She knows the subject really well and knows how to teach it too. I honestly used the book like twice all semester and did really well. It just depends on your chem abilities. She's definitely the ochem professor you want to get.
She is extremely helpful when you need it. She rambles sometimes and goes off in a different direction, but it gives you a break from Ochem for a bit. She is organized and clear about everything! GREAT PROFESSOR!
she is not a very good proff. i took a harder class very similar to this semester after her's and did quite well, tells alot about her pointless and pathetic teaching method. she is no good her at PCC, we pay too much for people like her who arent even considered to be "professors"
She is a huge B****. She makes tests very difficult just to spite kids for not doing well, which doesn't make sense. I started the class neutral to her, and ended hating her. Chem 8A is a part of the medical requirements, which is the only reason i took the class. Lecture is pointless, I fall asleep almost every time. BAD PROFESSOR.
You definately will understand chemistry, but don't expect an A unless you plan on attending all lectures, completing all the practice problems in the book, move quickly on exams and can grasp crammed testing material before exams.
Her lectures DO NOT hold up to her expectation of her students. NOT APPROACHABLE during OFFICE HOUR to help. I ended up using the NET and Chemistry textbooks to teach myself. Wouldn't mind having a Prof. with high expectation if she ACTUALLY prepared me for the OVERKILL Exam. DON’T RECOMMEND SWEIMEH. Why have a Prof. if you can't ask questions?
I intentionally sought out the hardest chem teacher to prepare for the MCAT exam. Her class is difficult because u’ll be teaching urself. Forget going to office hour. My decision to add the class was a mistake. She babies the beginning Chem students and they think she's nice, until they take her for advanced chemistry. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SWEIMEH.
She needs to REVISE,UPDATE,REVIEW her notes BEFORE LECTURE because she makes too many ERRORS in teaching the concepts. Making a difficult class EVEN more DIFFICULT to learn. Her tests include concepts that were not taught or taught so briefly and poorly that no one understood it for the exam. She needs to use her exams as a GUIDELINES to TEACH.
You are crazy if you like this proff. She was on academic probation for giving out to many F's when I took his class...I dropped her class because her lectures were soooo terrible. Try Ganapathi she is much much better!!
She tells u to come ask questions if u do not understand. When u go ask, gets annoyed because u interrupted her online chatting. What the hell? Is this what we pay her for? Does she sound like a teacher that is geniunely concerned about her students' learning? She is so fake. The only reason I added her class was because Ganapathi's class was full!
Incompetent. She teaches the concepts wrong,u learn it wrong, get it wrong on the exam. She is unfair and favors some students. A few turned in late HW,got full credit. Graded exam according to how much she likes u. A student's grade should be based purely on Academic performance, not how much the teacher likes u. That is unprofessional. BE FAIR!
I think she could use a vacation. She has the potential to be a great teacher if she's willing to walk the extra mile to help students during office hour and improve the quality of her lecture. If students are not doing well, she should find out why and change teaching approach if necessary. Part of teaching is finding new and better ways to teach.
If you're looking here to find an "easy" professor for OChem, there's isn't any at PCC. However, it especially makes a hard course harder when the professor doesn't assist with student's questions; gets REALLY impatient especially when you visit her during office hours. BTW, don't get all depressed if you receive ~65% on exams, that's expected.
Dont rant after receiving a bad grade(to comments below)!! She makes it VERY clear what she expects of you, its your job to work up to it. She does get impatient at office hours sometimes, but she always answers all your questions. She never complicates the subject and always presents info in organized structured ways. My best chem class yet.
The most important thing to consider when taking this teacher, is that you must do alot of tutoring, AND working hard on your own, if possible trying to catch the instructor at a good time(which is rarely). Other than that, Sweimeh is no good for teaching chemistry........just talks, talks, talks, and doesn't makes sense of what she is saying.
Dr Sweimeh is a hot profesor but also less patient. Not Recommneded for students DO NOT have a good fundamental on chem. Bad lecture.
Tries to be funny and caring during lecture. Don't let her fool you, deep down inside she's inconsiderate, insensitive, and can't care less for the well being of the students. Try visit her during office hours and ask her a question and you'll see. Her lecture only touches the surface of the subject which is not enough for the quizzes and exams.
this lady is clueless. i spend my first few lectures gi ving 90% of my concentration at 8;30 am trying to figure out 1) what she is saying with that hard accent 2)why are we spending 3 hrs in chem 1a learning to balance a f'en chemical equation. If u can dont take ur class, if u end up taking just show up, sleep in class and read at home.overal bad
Ya, I agree she is a babysitter most of the time. She tries so hard to be funny and caring but she is so cruel and it is easy to see
Do NOT take Chem 2a in the short summer or winter class unless you already know chemistry. Anyway she didn't give us our quizes back until after the first test. Made it hard to judge how she grades. Hard class and she told us she would NOT be available for office hours. She usually teaches the hard chem classes and it shows. good luck
I really liked her! She is definitely a hard professor but its really because the material is hard. If you take the summer session be prepared for a lot of studying! Overall she was pretty funny and her russian accent made the class even more enjoyable!
*warning* she has an accent..its russian and awesome.. and even helped me pay attention caaaause at times..it was pretty hilarious.. (ex: test tubes = testie tubes..haha) at the end of the day..chemistry is hard and its gonna be a hard class - study hard, review ur class notes, and DO PRACTICE PROBLEMS IN THE BOOK!! :) u can do it!!
good teacher. i got A.not very easy, but everything is covered ,good lexture notes.so quiz or exam are will looks easy.if you take good notes. take her. if you study hard, you will get A. i promise.
She is the best Chem teacher I've had so far! She chews up the info and spoon feeds it. If you don't have a background in chem I suggest reading chapter (at least summary) b4 class. She goes over the exact prob.s she will be giving on the quizes in lecture, she just changes the numbers on the quizes and tests. Allinfo is from work she's given you
Sweimeh is ok at teaching her materials(uses board, however, shes not very helpful after class. During lecture, she treats her students like teenagers and is the type of teacher that expects you to listen and get it the first time. She is abrupt when asked questions and will give you answers like "i said that during lecture" or just "yes" or "so?"
she lacks that personal touch with the student, her personality is terrible 80% of the class was frustrated.not very helpfull, she goes over easy problems during lecture, during test time the problems are nothing compare to her notes. She treats students like kids,if your late she would make you use back door.
best teacher ever. so maybe shes not the most exciting person. she gets the job done. just copy what she writes on the board and pay attention and there is NO WAY you will get less than a B. i got an A and i was taking bio too. people dont give her enough credit.
She is good but very strict! Chem 2a is all based on math which im not good at. i got a B but to maintain that i had to study hard. She uses all the time to leture but pay attention to what she writes on the board and copy EVERYTHING!
BEST CHEM TEACHER I EVER HAD !
mrs. sweimeh is a really cute nice lady. it is VERY easy to get a B in any of her classes. and only a little bit harder to get an A. most of my class got B's and A's and no one dropped. ive taken a lot of chem classes and that NEVER happens. take her and you wont waste your time and money.
i love miss sweimeh :)
notes and quizs are identical, have to be retarded not to pass the class. practically get partial credit for copying down the problem. i dont know anyone who thinks she is hard.
okay so the truth IS: she is a lot easier in chem 1A than she is in organic. overall, if you want to get an A in your classes, id take her for beginning chemistry but not organic. either way she IS a nice friendly person and willing to help :)
If you've taken her 8A class recently, I have some questions about her class, please email me at [email protected]. You will be well compensated.
if there was a super duper extra ordinarily HARD i would still hope for a higher level of 'hardness' button. but she makes you think. but its hard, and I WANT AN A. but i cant :'( got tricked by the comments below :(
I'm taking her right now and I think she's a good prof. She'll actually tell you y you need to know things instead of just telling you "you need to know that." She does have a tendency to overkill some topics but everything else is fine. This is Chem people, you need to study xtra for the A, POINTS MATTER no matter the prof,at least she's nice too
I love profesor Sweimeh! I don't know why other people give her such bad comments. Probably they just don't want people to take her. Yes she's kind of boring but she definitely helps you to get your best grade!Take her
very helpful..if you are serious and paying attention..u will understand everything and do good..one of my best teachers :)
she is extremely helpful. she breaks down things easily and is really sweet! however the material is hard. she does her best to make it clear, but be prepared for some serious studying.
Let me put it this way: If Dr. Sweimeh is hard, then Professor Bilicki's class is for genius. If Dr. Sweimeh is helpless, then Professor Ansari should be fired. BTW, why nobody mentioned she's really hot?
At first she is kind of tough but at the semester goes on she gets better. Overall very nice and clear at explaining things. Chem 1A is a pretty difficult class, so dont expect it to be easy.
You shouldn't be a doctor if you're not willing to study extremely hard for organic chemistry, one of the premed courses. Professors cannot cover everything during lecture. People should learn to blame themselves. This is sickening that almost every B/C grade student who wants to be a medical professional is blaming professors for not getting A
Her class is not that easy, but it's not that hard if you're willing to work a bit. If you have a strong chemistry and science background and/or are proficient at applying concepts, the tests are extremely easy. 1A is so easy for me right now, I can't believe I can score near perfect on each exam. I'm no genius. Chem is natural for me.
she's good.May seem hard at the beginning but really helpful.3 tests,8 qzs but drops the lowest.Don't freak out after the 1st test b/c 2nd is pretty easy.3rd exam is damn hard b/c the material is hard, not that she is a hard teacher.Overall, helpful and great.Hope she teaches 1B in fall and i'll take her again.
It's a hard class, but it's not undoable. She is literally one of the best Chem teacher's I've ever had. You don't really need the test books and her notes are amazingly clear and precise. There is a sense of self righteousness about her but I see that quite often in chem teachers so I guess it's normal.
Yes, she is irritable during office hours and makes mistakes during lecture. But at the end of the day, if you take care of your responsibilities as a student, an A in 8A is definitely within reach. It's not like she's intentionally making A's hard to achieve. The less helpful a teacher, the better prepared you will be for UC level competition.
Text books are not necessary. The lecture is pretty clear and to the point, so pay attention. Take good notes, pay attention in lecture, and you will breeze through the class.
good professor. It is not as difficult as other people said. Group of As in our class. As long as you pay attention, take careful notes, she is pretty easy. I think it is just not fair to say a professor if you don't work hard. If you just want to get an easy A then find another professor.
I appreciated her style of teaching (reasoning, not memorizing) and her personality (generous, humble, and kind). I'm looking forward to taking her for Chem 8A/B, o-chem, which is her specialty. Though she speaks English well, it is not her first language (I think), so she can be quite unintentionally funny and poignant at the same time.
Like her so much!! She is so willing to teach and help.Funny and passionate.
Organic chemistry is an extremely difficult class that requires loads of studying regardless of who your professor is. Dr. Sweimeh is very clear, patient, and even entertaining, but her tests are very challenging. Be prepared to do a lot of busy work (2 pts. each which eventually add up)
clear on lectues. makes you like ochem. she should train more on how to answer the exams if she wants the student to score better in tests. Lab quizzes are hard.
She is pretty clear during lectures and answers any questions students may have. I also really like her personality, if she sees that you actually put in effort she'll love you! She is pretty tough on grading the labs though. Make sure you attend all SI sessions as they will boost your grade about 2.5%. Overall, would recommend the class.
The class was risibly easy (for some; for others: ehhh), but DO NOT get on her bad side. If you do, the class just becomes hell. The SI sessions don't really help that much (she gives you extra credit for going though, so go anyway), but you can just review her PowerPoints and you'll do okay. Don't slack off, and show up on time.
Dr. Sweimeh is so intelligent. Seems tough, but she's sweet. She tries hard to make you understand the concepts, but you have to be willing to put in work because chemistry is a hard subject. I urge you to read the textbook. I struggled a lot over the semester, but after going to office hours and receiving good personal advice from her, I got an A
Professor Sweimeh is amazing. She's bright, intelligent, funny and VERY good at teaching. She literally made this subject material seem easy. She does, however, have her expectations. She will call you out for being late, for sleeping in class, or for having your phone out (like ever, just don't do it). She's tough, but fair. Wish she taught 1B.
She is extremely hard. Her exams are super challenging and her way of explaining important concepts is not the best. Avoid her if you can ,as getting an A in her class is almost impossible
Pros: intelligent and knowledgeable, teaches you how to think critically about ochem problems, demands a lot out of students to reach their full potential, passionate about chem Cons: frequently late/ cancels class, doesnt post canvas grades, picks favorites, lectures lack tougher problems that show up on exams, thick (but understandable) accent
She is good teacher in the class, but not a good teacher. 1. later for class most of time in morning ( 15mins more). 2. She doesn't respect to student, but she wants students respect for her behavior( so funny) 3. If she is unhappy to you( you don't know why). She just say "I don't like to do it." to answer your questions.
Extremely rude. Says she teaches concepts except what she teaches is extremely vague. Test/quizzes are ridiculously hard compared to material presented. Gets off on taking off points anywhere she can.
Those who cannot do, teach.
She is an okay prof. Just make sure pay attention to the lectures, and turn in lab reports and study assignments on time. Barely no homework, so be sure to participate the lecture practice questions to understand the material. It is also helpful to go to SI when it comes to exams.
Chem2A is not an easy class. Especially if you are not already good with chemistry. She will take off your lowest Quiz grad and for my class, she replaced your lowest test score with what you got on the final. She really cares about her students and wants them to pass. She gives really great lectures and is good at explaining the topics.
She is a good person but class was not enjoyable. Lectures are read word-for-word from powerpoints which you have access to, but attendance is mandatory. 4 multiple-choice exams which are to be completed within like 30 minutes. Be prepared to participate and dedicate lots of time to studying, as your grade depends on it. Not an easy A.
An average chemistry prof that cares enough about her students and the subject. Nothing extraordinary, good or bad. Do the work, study quizes for the exam, and exams for the final, and you'll do alright. Is available outside of class for extra class and takes questions well.
Lectures are from a different professor, she reads off of it and calls it a day. That is okay, but when tests come she picks mostly exceptions and tricky problems that don't really test your knowledge of the material rather the exceptions and problems that were impossible to prepare unless you have a previous test for reference. Save your grade.
Lectures are from a different professor, she reads off of it and calls it a day. That is okay, but when tests come she picks mostly exceptions and tricky problems that don't really test your knowledge of the material rather the exceptions and problems that are impossible to prepare for, also time for test is really short. Save your grade and sanity.
Disrespectful, she uses slides that contain general information, when the test was given the problems did not match the slides, the homework, the textbook, or SI session problems, in terms of difficulty and length, only gives you 40 min to do 35 multiple choice & 10 free response. Test main bulk of grade, trust me skip her, even if it mean waiting
Yeah, her tests and quizzes are hard, maybe harder than some professors'. Her lectures are clear and thorough, and she tells everything you need to know in Chem 1A and succeed in Chem 1B. I strongly recommend going to SI session as the question you got there can prepare you for the tests and quizzes much better. Not an easy A, but B is manageable.
She's good, very thorough and organized. Lectures are filled with examples. Attend most SI sessions for +2% on your final grade. Exams are slightly easier than quizzes, but both require critical thinking skills. Definitely not an easy A, but B/C is very manageable. She is there to help and is a very sweet lady. Would take again for 8A.
Honestly such an amazing professor. She makes chemistry fun and learning it so much clearer for everyone. Very well organized. Make sure to always participate in the practice problems in class and keep doing the problems at home.
She is as amazing a teacher as she is a person. She shows up to class everyday excited to teach. As a kid who didn't do well in chemistry in high school, I enjoyed her class and understood her content. The beginning of chem 22 is almost a joke how easy it is, but take it seriously because is it a good foundation. It will get more difficult later.
Honestly I don't know why her rating is so low. She's a great professor with great teaching style. No quizzes and homeworks (besides SA's). Her exams relate to what we learn in class but I would strongly recommend to do textbook problems to prepare for it. Generous gradings and definitely a top recommendation for ochem at PCC!
She SUCKS! Makes Chem 1A much harder than it is. Her test and quizzes are so much harder than any problems in the book or in her lectures. She says she is teaching you "critically" thinking skills but makes the class like it is at a PHD level. She is a great person but she needs to understand not all of us know chemistry as well as she does.
Professor Sweimeh is an excellent teacher. Not an easy A. You have to work hard, but she is fair in grading. I highly recommend taking her class.
Amazing professor! Really teaches everything you need to know & prepares you for chem 1B! I had a horrible professor for intro to chem but after taking her I fell back in love with chemistry!! Take her, you wont regret it!
Literally doesn't do anything and expects the students to pick up chemistry like its second nature. This class just started and I can expect to be learning only from my textbook this semester.
Professor was not that hard but gave out A LOT OF WORK. If you have a job or other responsibilities, do not take this class. I thought I could do this and physics but the amount of workload given by this teacher is absurd. I have had to teach myself everything and find myself struggling to keep up with it all.
Had her for two live lectures before quarantine, and they were pretty good, very hard to approach outside of lecture though. She gets mad at you for not knowing concepts she didn't teach. During quarantine she didn't teach at all, just linked us to other professors' recorded lectures and a ton of youtube vids and got mad if we were behind.
Absolutely the worst teacher I've had, especially in quarantine. Literally doesn't teach, rather she sends YouTube links and expects you to learn from all of that. The textbook is your best friend since she can't make her own content apparently. Also, she blames students for "overwhelming themselves" when they ask for help.
She only shows us a couple youtube videos a week and weekly quizzes are worth a majority of your grade. Not helpful and not "friendly" in the slightest. Good luck if you have any extra responsibilities...
This was a condensed summer course and I was ready to work. She had 0 interest in teaching and seemed mad about it. Every week we got a playlist of videos from all over the internet and that was it. She met with us once a week for 30 minutes and would only discuss logistics. Her disinterest in discussing any content with us was aggressive to rude.
she accommodated for me when I had a scheduling conflict with the preset quiz times. I needed help with an assignment due the next day and missed her office hours and she made an effort to meet with me on a day not her OH. It can be difficult if you don't have time to read the book, but she seems nice if you are a hard worker. doesn't like slackers
Professor Sweimeh is an overall average professor. Her class this semester was asynchronous, but kind of lecture heavy, so I suggest starting on the lectures earlier than later. Participate in the discussion boards and go to the SI sessions! She offers extra credit for it, and it really helped my final grade at the end of the semester.
Her class is not an easy A, but if you put an effort it is manageable. Online hw, SA, and lap reports are ok if you review all the lecture videos she uploaded. However, the tests and quizzes are pretty hard, so you have to really understand the material. I recommend her if you are familiar with chem, but if your are new reconsider taking her class
Took her 6-week online course. In my 4 years at PCC, probably the worst professor I've had. Condescending, passive aggressive, rude, unsupportive. One assignment can be 75 questions & it'll only be worth about 5 points total. Don't be tricked w/ her grading system. 86% or higher is an A but it'll be difficult. Lots of self-studying. Stay away.
She is rude, condescending and passive aggressive. She seems to be more focused on trying to catch cheaters than teaching the class. Everyone is guilty to her. Copy and paste responses to your assignments so you have no idea what you did wrong, and top it off with confusing instructions. Lots of self studying. What is she even getting paid for?
Doesn't teach anything herself. All other professors videos linked as lectures. Labs are easy, but exams are not. Uses Proctorio. Again, she literally teaches nothing herself. I'm not a horrible student, but this class created so much stress and chaos for me. I learned more in Chem 22. Good for people who prefer online, but not so much reg. student
bad online professor. I want to emphasize when I say online because the reviews before make her seem different in person. changes due dates one week from 5pm to 5am for the discussions where she expects us to teach each other. barely teaches us anything. a lot of hw for little credit. gives extra credit but you need it with how hard her test are.
AWFUL. Professor Sweimeh is the WORST teacher I have ever encountered, by lightyears. UNBELIEVABLY hostile and rude toward students for NO reason at all - sends out extremely aggressive emails to the class and is angry all the time. LAZIEST teacher I've ever seen - doesn't actually teach anything, just posts random crappy videos. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Avoid this professor, the way she grades the assignments and exams does not make any sense at all. Lots of Quizzes, 3 tests, 1 final are all very difficult. And the Chem101 which is the most waste of time learning tool I ever used, not even want to mention its inaccuracy grading system. Again, do not take her.
Lectures are bare bone at times so if you dont read the textbook you wont pass well. SA assignments will have questions that you may have never seen before in the lecture or reading. Quizzes are honestly too hard at times and if you are taking other classes this class is not for you. The class feels like it is an honors ultra level at times.
Dk why she has a lot of negative ratings. Her modules are organized and specific. She is truly hardworking and does her best in making her students understand the concept. She is definitely not a rude person. If you really want an A in this class you should know how to manage your time and practice a lot of chem without googling. DO NOT SLACK OFF!
she is a horrible teacher ,a lot exams and tests ,no extra credit ,refuse to help ,extremely rude,
just no
Super rude as a professor and doesn't care about students but only wanted to control them and TREAT COLLEGE STUDENT AS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. Always gives some kind of life lesson speech instead of spending more time explaining chemistry itself. When I ask her questions, she got really mad and angry all the time.
Chemistry is a hard subject and Dr. Sweimeh did not sugarcoat it. From my experience in her class, it is very important for you to have a strong grasp of the materials or have at least strong chemistry knowledge background. To pass her class, attend SI and tutoring is advised because you are definitely going to need help.
I LOVE PROFESSOR SWEIMEH!!! I took her 7 am class that was taught by a substitute but Sweimeh let me sit in for the 10 am class that she taught. She was very encouraging and her online lectures were very easy to understand. The course is pretty hard but Sweimeh is also very understanding and will know if you are putting the effort in.
Great professor. Hybrid course so we didn't see her much but her office hours were comprehensive and her lectures were well thought out and easy to understand with many examples. Lab could have been better coordinated as we had a separate professor running it but overall a good experience. Work hard and you'll be fine.
Chemistry is a hard subject. I recommend studying alot. The prof's lectures explain the concept and she goes over the practice problems. The problems are very similar to the tests. She was very willing to answer questions in class. Doesn't give a lot of free practice problems to study from. We had problems for purchase.
A decent explainer of the content she teaches but if an emergency/situation occurs whether it's family-sensitive or requires you to miss class, do not take her. I was under the impression that she cares about her students no matter what they're going through but she doesn't. She expects you to prioritize this class above all personal matters.
She's too emotional at times and doesnt give good lectures online. This was a hybrid class and her online lectures are riddled with mistakes. She is a very, very VERY tough grader. Will easily take 3-5 points off an assignment for no reason. I saw her slam on a student's laptop during class at one time
If ur like me & have imposter syndrome, TAKE PROF SWEIMEH!!! Chem isn't my best subject and for some reason I decided to take this class in the summer...so we had an exam a week which was WILD and I failed the first one. W her amazing lectures & me actually trying, I ended up w a B in the class & we both cried at the end of the semester LOL
Chemistry isn't my strong suit, but taking Prof. Sweimeh's class was a game-changer. Her lectures are clear, and she genuinely cares about student success. Utilizing unstuck study alongside the textbook was a lifesaver for prep. Tough grader, but worth it for the learning.
Cooked prof. If you like a middle-aged woman larping to be a mother figure while yapping at you 24/7 take her. Even though I had an A in her class, I would always get too tilted after lectures and I had to drop. Nightmare fuel
The online lectures are a bore but and most of the time are not much better than youtube videos explaining the same concept. Homework assignments are worth a lot of points but are pretty much free, just don't miss any or it'll be hard to recover.
This professor doesn't teach during class, it seems she doesn't know how to. She spends class time criticizing students instead of covering material. Labs are poorly explained, she just repeats the procedures. Her favorite line is, “I'm the chair of the science administrator.” Avoid her class, though she claims she's leaving next year anyway.
Dr. Sweimeh is a good teacher. Her in-lab lectures were very engaging and she makes it clear that she is passionate about chemistry. It is a difficult subject so don't expect an easy A or B. She drops the lowest exam and shifts the grading scale (86 is an A), so I consider her pretty generous. She was late to class a majority of the time however.
Honestly, her lectures didn't help much since her videos her like from 2020. She comes LATE to start, no heads up for subs on most of our review days, is not cleared with expectations for lab reports and work. Doesn't provide any feedback to our exams or work and gets emotional. She isn't a bad professor, but I did not feel supported from her.
She is truly a great professor, provided you give yourself the chance to learn. Her lecture videos are prerecorded, but honestly, you don't need the book if you watch the lectures. Great professor, but she is sometimes late. However, she has babies, so it is hard for her to be accessible outside of class. The first 3 exams were not bad...
