Good professor. She has an accent, but is understandable and she knows what she's teaching. I took college algebra this semester and she really makes it simple for you. Quizzes and Exams are pretty easy as long as you know the material/formulas/etc. Good professor to take and always willing to help out with any question. Take her.
She is excellent. She teaches at a pace in which students will understand. She encourages questions and provides feedback. She is very strict with her grading policies and not willing to budge and she also demands respect. Overall a great professor, especially for math. Highly recommended
Very good professor. She makes the class interesting. Her accent doesn't hold anyone back, in terms of communication. She's very helpful and strict with grading.
It is clear that she wants students to succeed in her class. She takes time to help students who are struggling and will re-explain concepts if you need extra help. She demands respect, but highly respects her students also. Her teaching is in NO way lacking. Her explanations are crystal clear. I highly recommend her! She's great!
I wouldnt say she is a hard but she makes topics harder than they already are. She said she is "good" at teaching log functions she made us memorize like 8 formulas, when there are only 3 simple ones to memorize, that just pissed me off! half of the stuff she teaches is not even on final. Did not like her one bit.
She is an alright math professor. Basically you will have to put in the work through studying and repetitive problem solving to do great in her class. Not a horrible class, but if you have the option of a better professor take it, however she is not that bad and Baruch has a share of bad math professors.
She is a good teacher, it was a bit hard to understand her at first but it gets better over time. I feel no matter how good the teacher is that department final will be a bomb. She's helpful with giving extra credit in tests. 3quizzes, 3 tests easy webwork only 3 right questions ur good to go. take her but make sure to go to SACC throughout the sem
extremely helpful. very clear once you get use to the accent
By far the best Math Professor I have had thus far. VERY CLEAR VERY ORGANIZED in her instructions. DO NOT MISS CLASS. She is better than learning by textbook. Yes, Math at Baruch is very challenging but it appears they have the resources for us to succeed. Pay attention in class, take notes,do the homework, practice w/ sample finals & videos.
IF YOU WANT TO GET PAST 2003 TAKE HER! She really teaches this stuff well. I think her class has one of the highest pass rates.
i had a two hour gap between another class & hers just to take math with her. DONT take anyone else. She explains everything thoroughly, dont miss a test EVER,try not to miss class, she doesnt use the txtbook a whole lot either but if u put your effort into this class YOU WILL PASS, SHE HAS THE HIGHEST PASS RATES IN BARUCH, SHE PREPS U FOR THE FINAL
If you are lucky enough to get her move heaven and earth to get in her class. She explains everything crystal clear. I usually hate math but now I don't. There is no curve but trust me if you pay attention, do the homework and the worksheets you won't need it. I wish she taught 2205.
In Baruch College Precalculus is very hard and u desperately NEED a good teacher to do well, and she is the one. I was always scared of math, but she explains things on point. my friends took others but she organizes questions and pages from the LONG textbook to make studying efficient and effective for you. kind, helpful, the best i ever had :)
Professor Nonoyama is amazing. She has an accent but you get used to it very quickly. She's extremely sweet and she explains everything extremely well. She shows you short-cuts and will stay after class and will explain again if necessary. I would highly recommend her.
The thing is she has a very thick accent, but math is delicate and needs a patient, smart, and nice professor to teach it and she is that. She explains it quite well and gives you example sheets so you can practice. Do the homework and study for the exams and there is no reason why you can't pass and I suck at math.
She is very good in explaning complex things, very helpful, very easy going, makes things appear easier. She has an absolutely unique way of teaching which makes you like math even if you hated it before. I would highly recommend her to everyone who has to take Math at Baruch!!!
She is just amazing math teacher at Baruch. I was suck at math before I took her. She is very kind, and well organized. She is very delight and help us for easy understanding. She gave pretty lots of works, but all of them will be on the exam. Extremely recommend this teacher.
One of the best math teachers I have ever had! She was so sweet and very clear cut. Her exams were a bit difficult, but she always gave a huge curve (extra 10 points on each exam!) Take her if you can, you won't regret it!
Excellent professor! Her tests and quizzes may be challenging, but it definitely prepares you for the Department Final. She also gives a 10 point curve on the exams and drops the 2 lowest quizzes. She is is very clear and patient with her students. I'm not very good at math, but my math did improve a lot ever since then. Definitely recommend.
She always explained everything clearly, and if you didn't understand something she had no issue taking time to make sure you did. The class itself covers a lot of material and the final is departmental, but her tests and quizzes were very helpful in preparing for it. I've always been bad at math but bc of her I have improved immensely.
She's Baruch's best math professor. Very patient and nice. Generous with extra credit on tests. She has custom hand-outs which are very helpful for studying since nobody ever opens the textbook. Copy down her notes from the board fully - you'll need to take notes for the hand-outs to make sense if you look over them later. Take her if you can!
BEST MATH PROFESSOR IN BARUCH. At first I was worried that I wouldnt understand her accent but you'll get used to it cause she can teach well. Her worksheets are very helpful. She always reminds us to prepare for the final and do the sample forms. She cares about her students and want us all to pass. VERY HELPFUL. Teaching style A++
Amazing professor. I hated math before, and I dreaded the transfer from York to Baruch just because I was going to have to take precalc. But with her, I actually understood what I was doing in that class. She's wonderful at teaching, very funny and understanding. She knows what to do and how to teach to help her students always pass. MUST TAKE!
u have to be careful what u ask in class because she will embarrass u in front of the class that is why I never asked anything in this class. She is very negative and will encourage u to drop the class instead of getting help. Avoid this class if u are not good in math because she teaches very fast and does not like to explain twice
This professor was great! She was extremely helpful, and taught in a way that was understandable. Math is a challenging subject but she really went above and beyond to help her students. She gives extra credit on the exams, and lets you know how your doing in the class before its over. One of the best professors I've had!
really bad professor, and makes the class really hard. homework do not even count so do not do it if you do not have time because it is worthless. Avoid this class
Professor Nonoyama is a great professor. She is good at math, keeps lectures amusing and is an over all effective educator. Math is not easy so there needs to be a certain amount of effort that you need to apply she has been more than supportive. She stays late after class and she responds to emails promptly. She also has an amazing personality.
Kikono is a great professor! The class is not easy, but She explains everything very well. The quizzes are take home. Work on them with someone else for extra credit. The exams are cumulative but if you study the quizzes and sample finals, i'm sure you will pass. She can also be funny at times. I highly recommend her!!!!
This professor is amazing. she tells you what is required& helps you in anyway she can. I failed the class because of dept final, it wasnt her fault, It was a summer class & I had too much on my plate. I hope to have her again in the future. She really cares about her students, she is always available for feedback. Take her, you wont regret it.
She is awesome. Breaks everything down for you and takes time to make everything clear. She explains everything and makes clear notes. You have to show up and take the notes. Everything you need to study is in your notes
lots of homework A L O T! 3 quizzes, 1 midtern and 1 final. Hw, quizzes and midtern doesn't count so i don't understand the point of taking days off from work to finish them (that's how many hw she gives that i have to take days off to be on top). My final grade was what ii got on my final and hw, midtern and quizzes didn't matter. Avoid Avoid pls
lots of homework. I even had to take days off from work to finished them and at the end neither hw, quizzes, test or anything matters but the final. I wouldn't recommend she's a taught grader and hates to repeat herself. Avoid if possible
She is a very talented teacher and amazing person. Coming from a non-math background, I was able to pass 1030 and 2003 with A only because I was lucky to be in her class. She is passionate to really make you understand math. Do not miss any class, work hard and spend enough time with homework and test prep. Not an easy class, but she's the best!
She is GREAT! I took her for 1030 and 2003. Explains everything so you won't get lost. I haven't stepped into a classroom in over 10 years and I got an A! She's VERY clear, gives awesome notes and is fair. 3 take home quizzes, 3 exams, and the final. She's the best math professor Baruch has. I LOVE HER!
AWSOME PROFESSOR, SHE DOES CARE ABOUT THE STUDENT AND IS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP.
Professor Nonoyama is very organized, she explains very well despite her thick accent, and she's very thorough. Prepares you very well for the final. Honestly, I've taken pre-calc before and I dropped itI understood everything she taught in this class. Highly recommended.
I did not purchase textbook since the $100+ textbook did not justify the 8 point boost in GPA. All the material that she teaches are going to be on the exam and her summarization of all equations are approachable even for the least dedicated of students. Overall I did not purchase the textbook and still received an A, but that did require effort
Best prof ever. Took her for 1030 and 2003. Wish she taught 2205 too :( Her exams are harder than the actual department final, which is good because she prepares you for the final really well. If you can do good on her exams and quizzes, then you will definitely pass the final! This is coming from an average math student
She's the best professor you can get for precalc !!!!! She takes time to explain and is very patient and nice It's a hard class so it won't be easy but she does her best to help you
She was very helpful with extra credit
If you are taking MTH 2003, then definitely take it with Professor Kikuno. She explains everything VERY clearly and also gives lots of extra credit opportunities. She is very caring and is ready to help. Goes with the right pace and makes sure students are understanding things.
If it weren't for her i'd never pass 1030 or 2003. She is the best. Explains very clearly in a way all will understand. Her exams are similar to the final so we know what to expect. I wish she were teaching 2205. Love her!!
Prof. Nonoyama does a wonderful job explaining the concepts of each topic introduced to us. Grades are fair and quizzes can be done in a group for a 5% extra credit. Her exams are cumulative, but does well in preparing you for the final. Do yourself a favor and take her if you can.
GREAT professor. Must take her if you want to pass precalc! She is incredibly nice to her students, explains well - always asks if you understand/have any questions, and basically hands out extra credit to those who participate. Save your GPA. Take her class. Only thing she doesn't like is when students are on their phones while she teaches.
Please take her
Professor Nonoyama is probably the best math professor at Baruch! She is very kind to her students and knowledgable of her topics. She gives you take-home quizzes, study guides for exams, and extra credit for solving problems in class or participating. Definitely take her math 2003!
Please take her for MTH 2003!! Teaching is very clear and explanations are straight to the point. I wish she teaches MTH 2205.
Please understand this class is extremely challenging!! and for that reason you should pay close attention and try not to miss any class. BUT this professor is amazing! She makes sure you understand material by constantly asking if you are okay or if she should repeat herself. I wish she taught Mth 2205! Good luck to all.
Professor Kikuno is arguably one of the best math professor at Baruch, she always gives everyone the chance to participate and earn extra credit. Super chill, she could go a little fast sometimes but all you got to do is ask questions and you'll be fine. Easy A
Gives a lot of extra for exams. I took math 1030 the semester before but I failed, however with her I was able to get an A. She is an incredible professor and is very caring. She had a strong Japanese accent but you can still understand her. She is very funny and teaches math in a way that a middle schooler can understand it.
The best math proff you can take. She explains everything very clearly and if you have a question she would not hesitate to help you. She is very caring and she gives out extra credit all the time. She drops lowest test grade and is a very good grader.
First time wanting to rate a professor. I have struggled with math courses, like always scared I will fail type of struggle-- and the professor's clear structure, care for students, and willingness to explain made this course manageable. She's timely, easy to talk to, super fair, and organized. I definitely recommend her!
horrible horrible horrible do not take. does not teach criteria needed to pass course. not sure why she gets such good ratings.. must be math geniuses. just avoid .
Take her if you see her class is available!! This is definitely not an easy class but she literally works with you by providing old exams as study guides and gives you extra credit for participating. She drops the lowest exam AND quiz grade (which is against department policy) but she does what she can to help students pass and understand material.
Super nice and explains the material well.
She is the best professor for math you can possibly have. She give out extra credit everyday. Shes very caring toward her students. Everyone should take her. She explains things very well and Math is a weak subject for me.
This professor is amazing when explaining calculus, her notes are what really made me pass. If you don't understand something, she will repeat it again until you do. Take this class with this professor to make calculus less stressful!
One of the best professors out there. She really cares about every student and will take the time to explain. I wish she taught more math classes I'd take all of them! Due dates for homework are a little lenient.
Professor is great at teaching... But what is the point in getting 100% on all the homeworks and good grades on quizzes/tests when the final is the only thing that determines if you pass. If you get less 50% on the final, you fail regardless of what your entire semester grade is.
Professor Nonoyama is an amazing professor who truly cares about her students. She is very charming and knows her topic. She treats everyone with respect and understands their perspective. I only wish I had more classes with her. To everyone: Take her. She is the best MTH 2003 professor.
BEST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD! This is my first time rating a professor and it had to be her! She cares a lot about her students&makes sure everyone understands! She made math very easy for me to understand. Definitely recommend her over any other professor! I wish i can take her for all of my math classes, her notes and lectures are amazing.
She is an AWESOME teacher!!! I took her class and she gives full detailed explanation of the lectures. Her exam might be hard and cumulative but when you do the actual department final you will realize it is a lot easier and you are able to do it quickly and faster because of the practice she given
good professor, thoughtful
She is one of the most amazing professors at CUNY. Take her. She doesn't prepare you to pass, she prepares you for life. As long as you communicate, and ask questions, put in the effort to learn you will get an A. Her tests are hard, she assigns you work (upto you to do it or not) and treats you like a college student. She is amazing.
I hated math, failed it twice, she was the reason I got an A this semester. Tests are hard but final is simple and to the point. Get ready to put in work bit its worth it. Never thought it'd like math to the point where im taking a Calc class I dont need next semester.
She's Ok but, she waste so much time writing things on board at the beginning of the class for no reason. She just explained 2 questions thoroughly in every lecture. She doesn't reply back on emails.
She is a very nice professor. She gives three exams and three quizzes and hopes her students do well on the final. The departmental final is like her exams, and she will recommend you go over ALL final samples listed on the course.
SHE IS SO AMAZING! If you can take her class, I am someone who has always struggled with math, and because of her I learned a lot easier and quicker. She is very accessible out of class, gives extra credit, and makes sure you actually understanding the course content. Yes she does have an accent, but I truly dont believe it effects her teaching.
I took this class in the summer and I still think about her. I failed this class before and the course itself is hard, but she genuinely explained topics that made me understand. She would re-explain if she saw we were confused. She was the absolute best! Also her exam reviews were spot on, almost exactly similar to the dept final
Listen!! TAKE HER! OK! I never thought I would understand precalc. and I got a B! She explains it in such a way that you'll get it. The class in itself is difficult, and you have to put in the work outside of class. Take her! She's one of the best Math professors at Baruch.
One of the best professors at Baruch! Go to class, ask questions, and do the take-home quizzes and homework. She's super helpful and makes sure you understand everything. You're lucky to be in this class! Highly recommend!
Great professor, just show up to every class and she will help you undertand college Algebra.
She is a math whiz and she is super nice! I highly recommend her!
Super thick accent but she's nice. Decently difficult material, you'll only do well if you give it extra effort.
Very thick accent that you get used to. The course itself is fast paced and difficult so you have to put in maximum effort in order to pass the departmental final (or you won't pass the class)! Prof has organized and helpful notes posted. Participation serves as extra credit on exams. She is willing to stay after class to explain any quuestions.
Professor Nonoyama is the best Math professors at Baruch. She's caring and ensures you're prepared for the unpredictable final. She offers extra credit, participation points, and helpful study guides. Practice her quizzes, and you'll do well. Her accent may seem thick initially but becomes clear. If you want to pass Pre-calc on the first try, take her!
Test heavy with long homework (6–7 parts per question). Participation = extra points toward exams. She has a strong accent, so understanding topic is very tough. Self teaching is mandatory. 3 quizzes (lowest dropped, +5 points if you work with a group). 3 exams—first one is easy, gets harder. Grading is lenient, but homework is challenging
She really cares about her students passing if she see's your putting in the effort. She doesn't expect you to be perfect either. Clearly has a followed course outline and study plans.
She is a nice professor - very kind. If you ask questions, she always answers. Some people complain about her accent, but as a non-native speaker, I understand her well. Exams and quizzes are challenging but manageable. The homework load is heavy. Grades: 3 exams (48%), final (30%), 3 take-home quizzes (12%), HW (10%). She also gives extra credit.
She made this course very enjoyable. 3 exams and 3 quizzes with many opportunities for extra credit. Her exams and quizzes prepare you for the departmental final.
Honestly I am glad I had her as my professor I am not good at math at all trust me so I was nervous taking pre calculus but as long as you pay attention in class and take the professors advice you will pass. Her exams are actually harder than the final I took which is good because it prepares you better. I would definitely recommend her.
I would give her my left kidney if she asked. Next question.
This is one of the best professors ever. I took her over the summer and though the material could be seen as challenging she made it very easy to understand. She prepares you well so at the end of the day you have to do your part and study. Taking her class made the final a lot easier.
Professor Nonoyama is a sweet person and you will get used to how she teaches quickly. Sit in front of the class and participate for bonus points. There are 3 quizzes(I think), 3 tests, and 1 final. Quizzes were take home. She provides a study sheet so tests aren't terrible as long as you prepare. I would recommend her to anyone!
Do not mind her thick accent at first guys. She is very very good professor who really want all of her students to do good. Just go to class regularly , do not miss her easy technique in solving problems. I 100% recommend. I myself is very bad at maths but she made the process easy. Very patient and very kind.
I personally struggled to understand lectures due to the professor's strong accent, which made it difficult for me to fully understand and keep up with the material. I often had to teach myself most of the material. She is kind and does try to make sure students understand, so if the accent is not an issue for you, you may have a better experience.
She teaches well, but she's not getting my left kidney. I wished I could have switched to a different Professor multiple times during this class - but NOT BECAUSE OF HER ACCENT. English is the only language I am fluent in and I had NO trouble understanding her!
