Great teacher. Real laid back and passionate about humanities. Easy A, with a little work. Tests consist of picture slide show where you have to name some works of art, and a few papers of 3-4 pages givin a week before.
Very entertaining, informative and helpful. I found his lectures very interesting and the class was very easy. No surprises--he lays the tests out for you ahead of time.
very easy, informative class. he is passionate about the subject. very little work. the only papers you have to write are the midterms which you can pretty much take from the textbook. i got an a and turned in most of my work late. he even gives sutdy guides for all the tests.
There isn't a big research paper. There are only essay midterms. Its a pretty easy class.
I strongly recommend this teacher. He is full of insight and knowledge. He is very passionate about his subject and enjoys teaching it as well.
Yeah he's awesome
Professor Codella rocks! He's always willing to help and gives great lectures. I learned so much and enjoyed every minute of it!
Profesor Codella is an extremely qualified teacher. He knows the material like the back of his hand. I can tell by the way he talks about humanities that he really enjoys his job.
He is a great teacher. I enjoyed his class. He is an easy teacher and his tests are writing an short essay & 5 slides that you study over the week and he goes over both the essay and slides many times before the actual test.
nice guy, great teacher!
Awsome teacher. He is really excited about what he teaches and it gets you stoked on what you are learning which makes you really want to learn. Cool guy who is lad back and very flexible when it comes to assignments and tests. You will learn a lot of very cool information. I would higly recommend him. Great person and greatest teacher i have ever had.
He is a really good teacher and makes the class interesting. He has smooth transitions from topic to topic and does short reviews of his previous lecture to help make things clear and comprehensible. He is also very understanding and easy to talk with.
I only had this teacher for a couple of weeks, then he went to surgery. I wish I would have had him throughout the term. The class sounded soo interesting and how he spoke about everything, just made you want to know more. Quizes were gonna be take home but then we got stuck with another teacher! :( Mr. Codella, highly recommended.
One of the coolest teachers I have ever had. He is very laxed about due dates and is always will to let you turn stuff in late (though don't push it). I had him for a full sumester and I wish I could take another class of his. Only book he required was House Made of Dawn for American Humanities.
He was a great teacher! His flambouant attitude makes you pay attention. Dont bother raising your hand to much, you dont need to. Just pay attention and take detailed notes. Look in your book for answers to Slide questions and pay attention when he says this will be on the test or this is what it willbe belike ont he test. He means it.
He is an awesome teacher! I took him 2 years ago and it would be an injustice not to say something good about him. I can relate being in his class to watching a cool special on the discovery channel. You feel interested, listen intently, and learn something at the same time. He doesn't test you on, or make you memorize insignificant points like
I had his class last semester and he's awesome. Mr. Codella is not a boring teacher, he likes to make sure that he stays on topic and explain clearly to his students about the subject. A great class to take for HUMANITIES. Although, in order to pass the class, make sure you take notes and do well on the slides including midterms and finals.
really boring class... i never went to class and when i did, i just slept... only time i paid attention was when he goes over the midterms... i just memorize the slides and BSed the essays and got low As on them but i got a B on the final so i got a B in the class for not doing anything but BSin and memorizing 4 times that symester
Cool class and a good teacher. Makes the class interesting. You have to take good notes because he likes information from the notes in the midterms and slide ID's. 2nd class I took from him and enjoyed them both.
My very favorite teacher thus far! Unique stories made this class interesting. He allows you to send in papers prior to grading for help and really wants students to succeed. Would take again!
He is a nice teacher, although I struggled because I am not a note taker... so if your not dont take the class. Memorize slides, you will do ok. two midterms and final. I struggled but I think I do ok.
The class was easy. Memorize some pictures for the tests, write some essays, which I totally BSed because I barely paid attention, and you just have to show up religiously., once in a while. He's a nice guy and the whole semester I kept thinking how much he looked like Mario from the Mario Brothers. Overall, I totally would recommend him!
Not really my subject, but not a bad class. Mostly lectures and note taking. Mostly take home essay tests and a few homework assignments. Teacher very knowlegdable on subject.
My favorite teacher! I enjoyed each class and really got alot out of his wonderful stories. Wonderful and I highly recommend this instructor. If you pay attention, easy A.
He is great! He is an extremely understanding and helpful teacher. He really knows his stuff and he always keeps his lectures interesting. Note taking is important because he prefers you write your essays with them. 2 Midterms and a final. Not too bad. I highly recommend him.
Great Teacher. Hes experienced so he knows what hes talkin bout. We had to read 2 books. and answer questions for some chapters. the 3 exams are 2 midterms and 1 final. EASY. its a few essays either on the books or on the hum book chapter. then he puts up 5 slides and you just have to name who/what/where/why on the statue.. IM me for books pinay916
Great teacher, just need to show up and take notes. Oh, and he's a little crazy about people talking or using cell phones during class.
Good teacher. Knows the subject matter, funny, sense of humor. Papers and exams are based on notes and reading. Read the chapters, handouts, take good notes and have fun.
excellent teacher. passionate about arts and music, includes funny and interesting info in his lectures. I acquired a new appreciation of the arts. Very helpful, encouraging, wants students to succeed. highly recommended.
The best teacher ever!!!!!!!!
Hes a good an easy teacher. The only hard part for me were the take home assignments for our tests. But beond that it was a fun class.
He is the best humanities professor ever. He makes humanities very fun and interesting.
Mr.Codella is a great teacher. He made the class interesting and although he lecture about 98% of the time, his notes were helpful..!! This is one teacher with the passion for his study...Take his class you won't regret it. Passed with an easy A..Advice-Take good notes and attend class.. so much interesting facts to learn..
the best teacher at crc. great teaching method and knows his stuff very well. very funny and energetic. his tests and quizzes are super fun and easy.
Very passionate professor. He lectures the whole time, which can make the class really boring. He writes up all the notes on the board before starting class. No hw. Exams only test your memorization skills (picture slides). Few short simple essays. Not that hard of a class, simple and straightforward.
was def. one of my favorites! I hate art history but he made it so fun and interesting. he def knows his stuff and i learned a lot. def take this teacher!
i dont think hes using the same txt book, but i got the 2 reading books ("inferno" and "iliad") ill take 8bucks IM me pinay916.. study images!
Nice guy, just dont walk into class late. The historic stories get kind of interesting if you pay attention, and it makes it easier. anyways just study the art, read the books, and you'll pass. i have the iliad and inferno, ill sell em for 8bucks get at me AIM: pinay916
This man is evil..dont believe what u read on here..he is not easy..he makes us write a 4-7 page essay and a 2-3 page essay and we only get a couple of days to write it..also you gotta submit your papers on turnitin.com..good luck if u take him.
Makes the subject very interesting and puts it in terms that everyone can understand/relate to. Take home midterms which are demanding but if you take good notes it'll be a breeze. Just go to class, learn, take notes, and do the assignments and you'll get an A.
Uses Turnitin.com for midterms and attendence is mandatory. His notes doesnt make sense so you have to listen to what hes talkin about. Gives take home quizes on Iliad. I wouldnt take this professor again. not cool.
Lecture was pretty boring, but maybe its just me since I'm not really into the subject. There were 3 exams which were take home short essays and memorizing 5 slides. A few take home quizzes here and there and one book. I thought this class was SUPER EASY though. I got an A and all the studying I did was for the slides.
GREAT TEACHER! KNOWS what he's talking about. Uses lots of images for the visual learners! Strict on attendance & tardiness, but easygoing w/ late assignments. Offers HELP. All assigns/quiz are take home. ANYONE can pass by using the key terms properly, it a SINCH!!!
HE IS KOo. CLASS IS PRETTY EASY. ATTENDANCE IS MUST. DON'T BE LATE, HE'LL EMBARRASS YOU! TEST: TWO TAKE HOME PAPERS!! NOT REALLY HARD AT ALL. YOU CAN FIND ALL INFO ONLINE. IN CLASS TEST: 5 VISUALS. GOTTA KNOW: [WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHY] OFFERS HELP, JUST TALK TO HIM. PRETTY EASYY GOING. NOT TOO BAD AT ALL. JUST TAKE HIM.
This is what you call a professor hes therefore his student he loves to teach and wants all to succeed. He lets you turn in late hw. And so what if he uses turn it in you only have to worry if you cheat. Hes one of the best teacher at CRC recommend to anyone. What are you waiting for taken him.I got an A in his class.Best of all not boring.
codella is a FANTASTIC professor!!! very knowledgeable. also chill & funny but he can also be raw & honest when irritated. lectures are rarely boring but also fast paced. attend class & take GOOD notes, details are important for essays. don't just copy what he writes on the board cuz it wont be useful. this will make essays & slide quizzes easier.
easy if you show up and pay attention.
Codella is a great professor! He is very passionate about his class and will always throw in tidbits and side-stories in his lectures. Word of advice if you want to do really well: Bring a voice recorder or remember what he says. His essays are graded off how much you KNOW, not what you can find off the internet and he does check for that.
BEST professor!!! My favorite class last semester. wouldn't say this is a cake class, but if you try, you will get a grade you deserve. He's a fair grader and best of all he grades you on what you KNOW, not what you don't know. So if you know the WHO and WHY and not the date, it's ok. DEF. take him, you won;t regret it.
Treats you like a kid, grades you like you should know everything. Should have known... someone saw me buying his texts and went "good luck..." He's alright, but has a pretty unorganized way of teaching. Just don't like him... Very liberal, opinionated, and you can't read his handwriting. Be prepared for 5-6 essays, but no big tests. Bluggh.

His class i pretty easy, not much work. the mid-terms are take home essays. the class is very boring, but quite easy. his lectures are not important because it doesnt help you out in the midterms (the book does). quizes are take home too.
the best teacher in CRC for HUM 332. the class is really easy. if you get a "B" then you are stupid.
He is the one of the coolest professor ever!! It's very rare to see a professor so passionate about his work. I loved going to his class, he's very passionate and a very cool/funny guy!He may be slightly unorganized or writes a little sloppy, but his teaching makes up for that..simple essays and quizzes!! I would love to take another class of his!
I just have to add that K. Codella is the BEST professor I've had. He is pretty funny, and fairly laid back. Take home quizzes, a week to do your midterm. As long as you do the work and show up, you should pass the class. He is an AWESOME professor. So passionate!
Ah, Doctor Kim. He's kind of awesome. Pretty easy class. Book not really needed, except for the 3 midterms (which are all take home). No homework, except for the occasional quiz. Keeping up with the two books assigned are the only real work you have to do. Anyone can get a B in the class. He's entertaining at times, you'll see.
he is a very nice and outstanding professor!!
Good teacher. Very passionate about what he is teaching. Gives midterm material in advance so you are prepared. Seems to go off on tangents at times, but very good teacher.
He is the best teacher ever, I was referred to him by my senior english teacher in high school and I must say that Humanties has never been taught better. He made all the lectures interesting and definately the best class Ive experienced in college.
If you love History Channel You will love this class. Great Teacher, Professional, knows what he teaches extremely well. 2 midterms + 1 final. Each midterm is take home essay. Secret to pass essays: Take good notes his essay is designed for you to take the material right out of the lecture notes as he gave it.
He knows his stuff. He can be strict, but for fair reasons. Talks fast, so take notes even it if seems irrelevant; it will help on the midterm! Take home midterms. Slide IDS in class. If you like to talk/text then don't come. Tells funny jokes and enthusiastic. Dante's Inferno & Homer's Illaid required.
he is a really nice prof. he is easy going and treats you like a grown up. if you are there for the lectures and of course study you will for sure pass the class. one of the easiest classes i've ever taken.
Great professor with his own personal-spin on the Humanities. You will learn the Dr's way and it could be enlightening.
Considering taking him for another class even though I have fufilled all of my humanities requirements. He's extremely passionate about the arts and humanities and very approachable. If you come in late or are rude, expect to be patronized (thats what you get). Highly recommend and hope to take him again in the future - just for fun!
he explains things at a good rate, not fast nor slow. he defiantly knows what he is talking about. he makes the material understandable so someone who has no idea about humanities can come in and relate to it. work is simple. easy A
Hes the best professor i ever had. I hope to take him again!! Its an easy A and you will enjoy going to class. Hes funny and knows his stuff! Does not allow any cellphone or computers in class. =)
He's fabulous! I feel enlightened! His lectures were delightful treats; I enjoyed each and every one. I loved how strict he was, and I was glad that he demanded attention! I still hate mythology, but that's not his fault!
So fabulous
You can tell Professor Codella has a passion for Humanities. Attendance is a must! He writes the events on the board at the beginning of the class and you need to fill it with info while he talks about the events in depth.
Good professor! I suggest bringing a recorder because he goes through a lot of information in one day. He really knows his stuff! If you dont pay attention and take good notes, the class will be difficult but if you do, this class should be a piece of cake for you. I found that a lot of people struggle from lack of taking good notes.
Codella is sassy and hilarious! Two mini readings required (The Iliad and Dante's Inferno). Three exams including the final. Relatively easy to pass with a B if you show up and take good notes. He has a lot of knowledge and looooves his coffee so he's always a bit hyper. Love him, don't hesitate to take him if you're serious about college.
He is awesome. We write essays after each unit lessons and they won't be hard if you come to class and just pay attention. It was unbelievable that I passed this class with an A because my weakness is writing. But as long as you are on topic and know what you're doing, you'll do fine. He's a cool professor. I wouldn't mind taking him again.
i would say that he is a great prof. He is very helpful and goes out of his way to explain things if you don't understand. The exams are petty easy if you study. If you are thinking about taking him.. Take Him! It's Worth it!
Honestly, I really suck at writing essays and I passed with a B. Very chill professor. Makes class fun and interesting. He requires you to write 2-3 page midterm essays, which is not too bad. Just make sure you show up to class, take good notes, do all the work, and you'll be fine.
A brilliant professor! Attention grabbing and teachers with passion!
A great professor! Really intelligent and passionate about what he does. I had no interest in Greek philosophy Before I took this class...He is very inspiring and very helpful when it comes to any part of the assignments or class that you're confused about.. I would take his class again in a heartbeat. Really great teacher!!
Dr. Codella's class was my favorite this semester. Class is fun but midterms and finals are a lot of work. (4 total 4-5 page papers and read a 200 page novel. He is energetic and loves to bust students out for texting in class (its pretty damn funny!) Take notes and show up and this is and easy A. Don't and you will be lost quickly
I recommend anyone to take this class. He really is willing to help and take any questions and the work is fair. This is by far one of the best classes ive ever taken at crc. He is totally the best!
One of the BEST professors here!! Class is not boring, he makes class interesting by relating to present time. Offers fun extra credit. Not many hw assignments. One test, midterm, and final. Which are not hard. He gives you slides to study in advance. I <3 art bcus of C! He hates phones, students who naps in his class, and attendance is crucial!!
Codella is awesome. He hates it when you're mad and will probably intimidate you into leaving the first class but stick it through and you'll definitely enjoy. He's super interesting and the homework is not too much. Only a few short 300 word essays and you have to remember a few slides for an in class quiz that which he hands out.
Codella is a great professor and knows how to teach. He's enthusiastic/passionate about teaching humanities. He's willing to help/ answer any questions that student have. Class require 2 essay midterm and essay final. No homework and only some easy quizzes. 2-3 slide ID quiz to boost your MT/Final. TAKE HIM FOR FOR ANY HUMANITIES COURSE. GOOD LUCK!
To get an A in this class, all you need to do is take good notes.
He barely assigns the class any homework or quizzes. 3 major tests, along with 4-5 essays that accompany it. Throughout the semester you do not really do much however, when a test comes, you are bombarded with having to study for the actual midterm and doing an essay which he assigns. Passed the class with an A without having to buy the book. Easy.
Don't get me wrong, it's an easy class but the work is super tedious and boring when it comes to the essays. The tests are easy but require studying. He basically tells you what is going to be on the test and you just have to study from that. So glad to be done with the class because it's boring and I hate having to waste my time on boring subjects
Prof. Codella was by far the most fun teacher I've had. He is crazy but knows his stuff. He has quizzes on the readings which are easy if you read the chapters. Midterms are take home and based off notes so attending is a good idea. No text required. Definitely plan on taking him again.
Codella's class was pretty easy. I actually found it to be very interesting. There are quite a few essay to write, but its nothing one can't handle. 3 major tests which are easy because he tells you what you need to study. He's a chill professor albeit he hates phones, sleeping in class, and students who come in late.
I barely opened the textbook. If you listen carefully and take notes then it should be good enough to pass the class. Read the assignments so it would be easy for you to write the essay.
Codella is a very clear, funny professor. Tell you what is expected on the quiz or test. A few papers here and there nothing too major. Easy class. Don't be late, use your phone, or sleep in his class. Lectures can be a little boring, but makes you look at the world differently when I took this class. Very helpful if you have any questions!
TAKE HIS CLASS! He makes class actually interesting, I've never taken a humanities class before and am now going to take more! Do not pull out your phone, he will tell you what's up! Over all a fantastic teacher!
AMAZING CLASS! From first impressions, to the very end, I was never bored by his lectures about humanities, the arts, and history. The moment I walked in and listened to the first lecture, I can tell, this professor knows what he is talking about and is very into the course he is teaching. Take his class, but expect to write a lot of notes.
This class is awesome! I highly recommend professor Codella.
Great professor, knows his stuff, lectures are pretty interesting. Test aren't difficult at all, and he assigns about 6-8 papers throughout the semester. But they're really easy and straightforward. Just read the book and you'll be fine. JUST DON'T TAKE OUR YOUR PHONE, SLEEP, OR EAT IN HIS CLASS. he hates that stuff and will call you out.
Beware to hand write a lot because you are not allowed to have a cellphone out, or laptop to type anything out. Be ready to read, he will assign chapters from the book(s) and will tell you when the quizzes will be. MAKE SURE TO READ. He gives a PassFail grade on the quizzes. About 4 questions per quiz, and do not bs the reading. Great Teacher.
This is the first class that I NEVER bothered to look at the clock and was also sad whenever he said "that was all for class today." Professor Codella is definitely one hell of a professor. I really like how he has a few random but intriguing facts for each topic he covers. Another thing is you need to attend class and take notes on EVERY THING.
I walked into class, thinking that this will be boring, but his lectures have never bored me once. I was instantly sold from the first 15 minutes he lectured. They are very interesting, very educational, and the way they are presented will not bore you. Take his class before the list gets full, class list for his courses fill fast!
tough professor. once you have his grading technique and expectations down and know what he expects, then the class won't be that difficult. he does give extra credit. papers are the most important to your grade. the quizzes and stuff are okay. has a positive attitude 99% of the time. he assigns reading from the book however it rarely got used
He is the most adorable professor a student could ask for. Great with office hours, a number of quizzes, pass no pass no number or letter grade. The class seems very difficult at first, but after the first paper everything seems as clear cut as it is. A very generous grader, smart, inspirational, and super cute and extremely sweet professor.
Very good professor. The papers are as equally important as the slide id quizzes. For the final, go to the museum, the questions afterwards are fairly simple, just make sure to give details as well as some vocabulary from the semester that was taught. Only use the book for when he assigns readings, and also use the book to study the slide id's.
I didn't even really know what humanities was before this class. I really didn't care at all about art before the class but I definitely respect it a lot more now. Great professor who really knows his stuff. Not a tough class at all, the papers might be long but as long as you know how to use the terms and can back up your reasoning, it will be ok.
Professor Codella is an awesome professor and I honestly cannot tell if I am just really smart or he's just a lazy grader. I don't know my final grade, but got an A on all passed assignments. Pay attention in lectures and you only really have to use your book for the essays which are fairly easy, but he's an extremely slow grader.
Great professor. Literally one of my favorite professors. I absolutely hate history but he made it fun and exciting. Would take his class again
His lectures are very boring and he is egotistical. If you want to take an easy class because humanities is your weakness, he is your professor. He tells you about what is going to be in the exams and midterms are also take home. Although, beware. He will call you out for having your phone out, sleeping and being late.
Very Enjoyable class!!! Professor Codella is definitely one of my favorite professors I have ever had. Exams are clear and easy, half slide I'd half essay. Make sure to take good notes, they will be nice to have for the exams. Very easy to talk to so don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Overall great class, great professor.
One of the BEST Professors I have ever had! He is so helpful and inspirational! His lectures are amazing and very beneficial. I would definitely take him again!
SUPER EASY! Tests are based STRAIGHT from lectures. There are some short essays. Will point you out if you are sleeping/on your phone/not paying attention. We watched some films.
Pretty chill class! Few tips: No electronics are allowed in his class, just good old fashion pen and paper, PAY Attention or he will bust you out. Tests are straight forward and finals are short essays.
Overall, I think he's a pretty easygoing teacher. His lectures are pretty interesting but he does move on to the next topic really fast, so be sure to pay attention and take good notes. Quizzes are easy peasy as long as you read what you're told to read. He did however cancel class at least 5-6 times with no heads up or email, wasted my time.
If writing is your weakness, DO NOT take this professor. He doesn't like for you to use outside resources. He jumps back and forth on subjects so its hard to understand. There are no participation points and your grade is based on how good your paper is. I hate that he adds slides on top of the paper because its a lot of work.
Amazing lecturer, the lectures are most of the in-class time and I've never looked at the clock while listening because they were just that interesting. He's a super nice professor. Little homework aside from a few essays and in-class quizzes. Easy grader on the quizzes, the quizzes is just identifying pictures, their dates, and descriptions.
I graduated CRC in Spring 2018, and I was surprised that Codella is retiring right as I graduated. His lectures were truly inspiring and it's unfortunate that my little siblings attending will not be able to take his classes. Truly amazing as a professor and a person and I hope to see more professors who may adopt his teaching style in future.
