Great teacher, makes sure you understand the course, but gives a lot of homework.
Not an easy teacher. And no he is not hot but he thinks he is. Makes math even more boring than it already is. Gives too much homework, his tests are hard, and he is too picky. I would not recommend him.
kim breaks the most complicated stuff down to simple algebra, he really helped me feel less intimidated about math. and yes, he IS hot, and he's got the sexiest accent.
BETHER HAVE ONLINE CONECTION IN THE CLASS.
mr. kiM is the hottest teacher ever. i'm so glad i took his class coz all i do is sit and daydream about him while loOOking at him. haha..but for real..he's a really cool teacher. and he's onE hOt coOkie..i thinK i'm in LoOOOVE!!!!
his accent is attractive but that's it! he's cool because he never takes role...but he does give a lot of homework. he goes by kind of fast so make sure u ask a lot of questions! other than that, his class is average.
He explains things very quickly, but will patiently answer the same questions over & over. He gives partial credit for every answer, even if it is all wrong. The homework is usually every odd problem. His accent is South African.
good teacher, does not mind going over and over. wants student to grasp understanding. does work rather fast, but if you ask he will back up and explain again.
kim is a GREAT teacher!! he's so smart and kinda funny. haha..he's not a really easy teacher but he does know how to teach. Well, just take his class and see for yourself, but i do recommend him. he's cool. "hi mr. kim..if you ever read this..it's mi
Kim's lectures are consistent with the textbook. If you like math and like to understand the concepts rather than just memorize the formulas, then you should take his class. He is very smart and very HOT!
i miss his class, and bOy was he hOtt. i really do miss him =).

Nice and cool teacher, but does not know how to explain math 108(diffrential equation), but i recommand him.He is a good teacher and fair with gradying.i miss him.
He knows math, but he is not good in 108 :) or DE. He is a good teacher. I recommend him. The best math teacher in GCC.
The other reviews are correct... He is hot and has a great accent. He's very clear and helpful. He makes the class really interesting. He assigns a lot of homework and his tests are hard but if you pay attention you will be fine.
He is a great teacher and made math a lot easier to understand. Although he will give you a lot of homework problems, you will learn a lot! And plus I love his accent!!!
see math 108 is a very hard course... and he dose not make it any easier... and he is not fair in his tests and grading. take math 107 before you take this class.
He knows his math pretty well, sometimes though he would get suck on a problem and try to work it out and totally forgets he has students...he has a great accent and is pretty hot. I would recommend him for people who are not strong in math. He works on the concepts and gives insane amount of hw.
Took him for winter 2005. Although i got a C i still like this man alot. Probably one of the nicest professor youll come across at GCC. Very helpful, fair (many partial points on the tests),very clear,& always willing to spend extra time making sure that everyone understands.Oh and an awsome accent!
His tests can be hard, but he goes the extra mile to make sure everyone gets it in class. He always answers questions and takes time to go over homework. Bonus: He's really hot!
his class is very fair, not hard nor easy. taking this class in winter was a mistake in the first place
he is a good teacher, but DO Not try and take hime over a shortened semester like winter of summer. he has some dilusions about what he can expect people to remember.
Folks,Listen carefully. This guy is unorganized. He comes to the class and just copies examples from the book. Moreover,His TESTS are nothing similar to HOMEWORK..He expects you to have some super magic sense in math.. I had all A's in math classes.Trust me when i say this,He is hard and unorganized.
After 2nd week, half of the students droppped the class... We were left only with 15 students..I wont recommend him.. He is really nice guy as a person, but not as a teacher. Major drawback is that he is not prepared to teach such a high level of math class.. Avoid him if you can
After few weeks half of the students dropped the class.Don't take his class. He shouldn't be a math teacher makes everything confusing. He is very unorgnized, lazy and gives hard tests he doesn't know how to solve.I don't recommend him.
Kim's a really nice professor. His class however is very hard. He assigns a ton of homework and his tests are impossible. However he is very helpful during class and makes sure that everyone understands.
he is a good professor,he knows his stuff, first it will look hard for you but eventually you will get used to it,I am planning to take math 107/108 with him.I worked hard and i got A.do your homework and NEVER skip somethin you dont get it.ask him and he will help you.first couple tests i got B,i was going to drop class but he encouraged me to stay
He is a hard teacher, but very fair. He demands a lot from his students, but he is approachable and he helps out if you just ask.
He's a pretty laid back professor. He teaches but knows how to be cool about it.
He doesn't know his stuff his tests are very dificult.i have got As in 103 & 104in his class i got D
Excellent Prof.! Great Personality! Awsome Charactere! Filled with great sense of humor. One of the best prof. at GCC. He really knows his subject and make it fun.Helps his students a lot and tries to make everything look easy.
LOOK GUYS I DONT KNOW WHO WROTE NICE STAFF ABOUT HIM...I PASSED 103 104 WITH DR. KOLPAS(GREAT PROFESSOR) AND I GOT As BUT IN 105 I WAS ABOUT TO DROP AND END UP WITH C .... TESTS ARE VERY HARDDDDDDDDDDD...WE WERE 30 STUDENTS IN CLASS THE FIRST DAY BUT FINAL TOOK ONLY 11 STUDENTS... GO FIGURE OUT ...
The class was a hybrid class so in all fairness he didn't have much time to lecture but when he did he went way too fast & his teaching method is very difficult to follow along. His test are pretty hard but he does lower the curve if the whole class doesn't do well. You better know your stuff if you decide to take him, otherwise you'll be lost.
HOW AS HELLL... YUM.. HIS ACCENT...HIS VOICE... he explains very goood though... wow he looks good, sounds good, and can actually explain... what more do u want?
His sexy accent distracts me from the lecture. But he is there to teach and that's what he does. Nice-handsome. He's got an internal strength-man's strength you don't see anymore. I think he and Dr. Han could be a good couple.
TAKE THIS CLASS....He is an awesome teacher! Trust me! Just come to class (don't be late), do all of your work and your good to go! He explains everything very clearly. You work for your grade. Not an Easy A class! But if you work hard You can get it. As much as possible go to the math tutor place where you can get more help!
Great teacher, explains well and always willing to answer questions. Do the homework, ask questions and show up to class. I would take him again if he taught my next math sequence.
Easy to understand. Excellent TEACHER!!!
He sucks as a teacher. You cnt understand what he says or writes. He is very messy n lacks organization. His tests are hard and gives lil time and to top it all off he makes you do hw online which sucks
Outstanding professor!!! He seems committed to make everyone understand the subject. He's extremely helpful and easy to understand. The class is fun, dynamic, and you actually learn. He's got great personality and is great at what he does. Take the class, show up,do not use your cell phone, and do the homework! He's the best!
he is a really good professor. I loved him...yes his tests are a little bit harder than usual but if you do all of your homework you'll be fine. I liked him. he explains everything very well and I was never confused..he is willing to help if you care.
Lots of hw and hard tests,,, however he curve the tests' grades plus hw points
Very good at explaining the material. Handwriting is pretty messy though. Tests are bearable...if you know the material well/study/pay attention in class.. you'll get an A!!!
Take another professor if math is not your strongest subject. Test are out of this world hard and you need a good math background to be able to do the problems. Hard subject+hard professor is not the best combination. He is a very nice person but not the easiest teacher. Good luck
Knows the subject, but not especially great at relating how to do the work to others. A really nice guy, and fun to talk to, but the test are unbearable and overall the class is ridiculously hard to begin with, without a teacher that cannot properly expain it to you. Use YouTube videos if you have to take him.
Best tercher ever! Do take him if you get a chance and if you are willing to learn and attend class. He has a cute accent and really cares about his students. Do your HW, pay lots of attention and good notes. Be Able to do what he does on the blackboard and youll be good to go
he is the worst math teacher i have ever had he cannot explain the material at all. i passed all my math classes with an A and i was really confident learning math but this guy distroyed it. i strongly suggest to not take him at all
In calculus class you need to have strong background from algebra. You can never expect what kind of questions are going to be on the test and you'll see some surprising questions but if you do all examples, exercises and take notes during his class you'll be fine and make sure you understand while you're doing the exercises.
He is an O.K. teacher IF you are "good" at math. He is always willing to help and means well, but to the average math student, his tests are really challenging. A very smart guy, but sometimes I feel he can't teach the material well enough to us average math students. *I STRONGLY RECOMMEND TAKING NEWBERRY INSTEAD*
TERRIBLE TEACHER he means well and knows the subject but is just terrible at teaching Hes the worst at explaining things to students and when asked to clarify he just repeats what he said When asked serious question he wont even answer them but instead make fun of the student and dismiss the question Be prepared to teach yourself if you take him
I took his math 119 Hybrid class. Let me tell you, DON'T take a math hybrid class unless you're willing to teach yourself math. I mean I passed the class but it was a lot & i mean a lot of work. There were online quizzes every week and multiple homework assignments. Sometimes you'd have to read ahead in the book to complete the homework.
He's a great guy but a bit awkward. He says everything you need to know for the test but if you ask him to elaborate, you'll just walk away more confused than before. Class was easy. If you pay attention and don't fall asleep you'll be fine.
The best teacher ever! He is a good teacher and very smart. Although he's tests are very challenging but he also teaches perfectly. You better have a good background in math because you'll need it for cal. But even if your average student, if you take notes and do the exercises you'll be fine. There were always something new to learn in his class.
He used a website to do all the computing so statistics was a slice of cake.
Took him for winter 2015 and had a horrible experience. Makes class extremely long. Lectures are not even lectures. Extremely vague direction on exams and tough. I would avoid if possible.
Worst teacher possibly at GCC. You could have your hand up for 5 min and he will not call on you; and when he does he is very very broad about the answer he gives, and gets upset when he has to re-explain something. He says at the beginning of the course he does not curve tests, his tests are EXTREMELY hard and everyone fails. BE SMART! DROP CLASS!
I took stats over winter 2016. The amount of material we had to cover each day was incredible. We did mostly use software but you still have to memorize formulas and do some calculations by hand. He doesn't "curve" but he does grade it out of a lower amount than what the test is out of, so that does boost your grade. Difficult class, but doable.
not a very good teacher, he doesn't explain things well, tests are very difficult, and class is overall boring. He doesn't curve, or have any extra credit. Don't take him unless you want to hurt your GPA, VERY HARD TEACHER! HE doesnt know what hes doing 90% of the time, and his most famous line when you ask him something "ill get back to you on it"
Very helpful during office hours, lenient grader, do homework pass class
He's a fair grader, but I've never struggled so much in a math class in my life. It ruined my GPA. The tests are insanely difficult and hard to study for. It's almost impossible to pass if you don't do homework (For the record, I did the homework and spent HOURS in the math resource center and still failed).
He's a nice guy but his class is insanely hard. You'd have to have a pretty good background knowledge in Calculus to pass his test, otherwise you'll find yourself struggling. We started off with around 50so students in the beginning of the semester, but by the end, there were only around 15 students left. If you want to pass, try another teacher.
Explanations aren't the best but he does try to help students understand if they are willing to ask the questions. Tests are difficult but if you do all the homework, you will pass. Homework is collected, tests are curved, and one test may be dropped if you do all the homework.
We used a lot of software. Homework is online and the due dates are fair. Prof cracks a few jokes sometimes during lectures. He curved the tests, and drops the lowest one. Pretty difficult class, but you got to work for it by doing the homework and asking questions. There's also a project at the end of the semester.
I'm taking him right now for Math 120 in the Winter Semester. I have to say he is indeed homework and lecture heavy, but nonetheless he's a great professor. If things are unclear ask questions. Just do the work assigned and show up to class, you really need to put forth effort. He's a good professor I will definitely take him again for Statistics.
He is a good professor! You need to have a good background of math and work hard in order to do the tests well. If you are a good in math and have a good background, I will definitely recommend to take his classes!
He explains everything clearly. Curves the test's original point. Do all the homework and you'll get an A
Took him for both stats (136) and precalc (110). Solid teacher who tells you exactly what you need to know. He puts time and wants to make sure students know the material. Tests are very fair. Nothing is on it that you haven't learned. He also curves the test pretty well. Make sure to do homework and really focus when in class and at home studying.
Great professor. If you get stuck just go to office hours and he is happy to help. Tests are kind of difficult but if you study and do all the homework, you should be fine.
He told us that he hadn't taught Calc 2 in many years. He copied examples from the book for lecture. When asked for help on some problems, and he'd spend up to 25 mins struggling to solve. He liked to combine multiple concepts into single problems on tests, making them MUCH harder than HW. Class was curved heavily just so people could pass.
Don't let his baldspot or "KFC" initials distract you during lecture, like most Math classes attendance is vital to pass, Professor KFC wants you to pass, he won't give out any freebies but he is good with explanation and good at helping students he can see seeking it, one of the better instructors for Math at GCC
Hes the worst. The majority of the class dropped and the current highest grade is a C. Hes really confusing and doesnt make any part of math clear. Gives around 60-100 questions per section and you cover 3 sections a day. He only gives the MOST difficult questions on tests. Sometimes he writes questions that he himself cant even answer. Dont take
He is an extremely sweet guy, but don't make the mistake of signing up ill-prepared. It is a hybrid course and requires lots of reading on your own time, it is hard to catch-up if you miss and he moves rather quickly. We started out with a full class and at the end of the semester we were down to 8. Nice guy, hard class
Very difficult class and professor, homework is EVERY odd from EVERY SECTION and if u don't do the hw it gets graded against you as in deducted from your grade. 5 tests and then a final. does not prepare you well for the test. Says know everything in order to do well. Curves exams but exams are VERY difficult. cool guy but very stern.
He goes through at least 5 sections a day and he does not stop no matter what. He is a very very tough grader, and he has an accent so half of the time you don't understand what he is saying, his handwriting on the board is unbelievably messy. I wasn't able to handle it and just dropped it because I knew he was going to fail me.
Very good professor.I'll take his class again.
Nice person, explains things if you ask him personally, and is pretty decent during lectures. However, his tests are incredibly difficult and confusing, because he combines different concepts from different chapters, sections, etc. Took him Spring 2018 and most of the class dropped. Take Math 110 seperately in parts A and B.
He is a nice guy but cannot teach. He reads straight from the book, copies the problem but does not explain how. He will go deep into formula theories but not actually explain how to use them. I do not recommend him, you will have to self teach yourself
If you want to pass, try another teacher. Don't take this class.
He was a great professor. He made me feel statistics so fun. Of course it's a statistics, you need to work hard. His lecture goes fast and heavy homework is mostly Pearson MyLab and quizz on Canvas. He reviews before test for students. Repeat practicing the MyLab homework before test to get used to the pattern of question. Good Luck!
This was the WORST EXPERIENCE in my whole life, please don't waste your time especially if you're in a high math level. His lectures and notes are so messy. Be prepared to do everything on your own. His tests are ridiculously hard and the material will be things that you've never seen in your life. Toughest grader EVER. I struggled so much.
He will nit pick your homework and give points off for every little mistake. You need to show up and do every assignment. You will not get 100% on anything.
I had him for a remote Calculus 2 course in 2021. Simply avoid this professor at any cost. The homework is insane. You will have to do every odd problem from every single section. There was so much that I couldn't spend time learning the topic - all of my time had to be spent just grinding the homework. Then finally tests are nothing like the HW.
If you can avoid taking one of his classes please save yourself the headache of dealing with the homework he assigns. Hes quiz/exam heavy and you will most likely fail the class if you dont do well on the quizzes and homework. He does not offer extra credit and he isnt the most caring professor when it comes to his students succeeding.
This class is very hard and the prof moves very fast. If you skip a class you will miss out on at least a chapter because he covers an insane amount in just one class. Tons of homework every week and 4 exams throughout the semester, plus a project and a final. Be prepared to spend a lot of time outside of class learning the material.
Very hard class. Definitely have to pay attention, go to every class, and put the work in outside of class to understand the material and get a good grade. Prof Foong-Chong doesn't do the greatest job at explaining things, but if you ask him a question he will go into more detail. Class size started at like 36 and by end of semester was 14.
Took him for Statistics. Without a doubt the hardest class I've ever taken. The first time I've ever had to pull an All-Nighter. Barely scraped by with a passing grade. A nice person, very understanding if you have any issues and such, but is VERY homework and confusing-lecture heavy. Tests were exactly like the homework. Take at your own risk.
Took this class for Business Calculus. I had to drop out. His lectures are bad and doesn't even go over the material for you to be able to do the homework which take over 5 hours each week and doesn't give you full credit. He states that he'll drop your lower test score for the homework. This class has 5 test which determine your whole grade.
Took it for Math112 Dropped out. Hardest professor I've ever taken in my life. LOTS OF HOMEWORK!!!! An insane amount of homework. Doesn't teach well and expects you to learn from just the homework. 5 test total which is 55% of your grade. The final is 25% of your grade which leaves no room for error. Please take someone else don't take this guy.
Definitley a hard class but he's a great professor. Calculus is a very hard subject but he EXPLAINS EVERYTHING VERY WELL. Its a lot of homework but the homework is easy just time consuming. The only problem is that he puts the hardest homework questions on the test making it very hard to get an A.
He is a really nice guy and he's actually cool if you get to know him, but as a professor he is REALLY tough! There is an INSANE amount of HW, like you will spend SEVERAL hours trying to get it all done. He explains things well but the large amount of HW really just makes the class unbearable. I gave this class my all, and it still wasn't enough.
Never have I ever had a class so painful in my life, do not take at all costs, he will teach you the basic concept and give you easy examples then on the test give the hardest possible questions that he can think of with that basic concept, tons of nonstop homework as well, listen to my review please before your stuck with a D on your transcript
This Professor is really nice and chill as long as you are on top of things. His class is very test heavy with 85% of the class being just tests and quizzes. Although the class is test heavy he grades the entire class on a curve. As long as you know the basic concepts of the material you should do alright in this class.
If you value your sanity, GPA, free time, and anything that makes life worth living- trust me here. Don't ignore the reviews. One thing you can count on Professor KFC to be is inconsistent. He's disorganized, presumptuous, and pisspoor at his job. Tests are worth more than everything else put together, contents are subject to change anytime. Run.
If you value your GPA, free time, and sanity - DO NOT take this class. The one thing you can count on KFC to be is consistently inconsistent- content of tests (worth more than everything else put together) are subject to change at any time at his whim, even the day before a test. HOURS of homework, textbook is $80 you'll wish you were never born.
the amount of homework makes you contemplate going to college, the median scores are mostly mid 40's this class has 0 CURVE i was forced to drop in october so before I left I noticed a majority of the class had already dropped. this professor also just copy's straight from the book. This is one of the worst class's at GCC
85% is tests. His lectures are very clear and if you do the HW ans understand the material, you will get an A!! Many people drop class due not studying.
We have the textbook, but we don't really use it in class, it's up to the student to use it during homework. He also won't let you finish the exam if you ran out of time and we have to do work at the same time and submit it after.
Test heavy. Curves tests a lot. Retests available. Working with a group is essential to pass tbh. He encourages it too. Lectures are good but sometimes difficult to understand. Lots of hw but skims it to grade it. HW and Chapter review are great for test studying. Helpful during class work. Great professor. DEDICATE TIME OR YOU WILL FAIL
Professor KFC's MATH136 is a challenging course, but unstuck ai and the free textbook can make all the difference. Stay engaged, attend class, and be ready to devote significant time outside of class. With diligence, you can get through this tough but rewarding class.
He's not the nicest or very helpful. The class is pretty hard unless you already know calculus. He makes tests very hard too he even said it himself. A lot of hw as well. Just choose any other professor.
Insane amount of homework, the textbook was 100$ for an online course which is crazy, and his exams are 50% of the grade while the final is 25%. I got all As in the quizzes, homework, and discussions but literally none of it mattered because his exams screwed up my grade. I was so close to a passing grade but he refused to round, don't take him
I took the with support version of calc 1 thinking I would be getting extra help from the professor and actually learning. This was not the case. There's so much more I could say that won't fit in here but if you value your health, well-being, and GPA, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Most students in the class I was in are failing or withdrew like me.
