I completely disagree with everyone's comments. I thought that she was an excellent teacher, and very good tempered. Of course the class was hard, this is college, things are supposed to be hard. I got an A easily, just pay attention.

Wow. I honestly have no idea what these other people are talking about when they say she's horrible and mean. Maybe she had a lobotomy, but I thought she was was a nice woman and her class was interesting. She never said a mean word to anyone...Her voice is kind of girlish but it doesn't change the fact that she's smart and competent.

I had her for Historian's Craft (32050) and I will not lie to any of you; Gruenwald is tough. If you put in an effort she will do everything in her power to help you learn. Most of the complaints seem to come from people just taking LERs, which makes sense. A great professor if you are willing to work and want to be challenged.

I cant believe the comments I am hearing, she wasnt the most happy go lucky proff in the world, but her lectures were clear, crisp, and very interesting. The Reading was interesting as well, I learned a lot, I would encourage anyone to take this class.

Dr. Gruenwald is great. She gives very clear lectures and knows a lot about what she teaches. She grades exams a little hard, but is nicer on the paper and is very helpful if you need it. Do the required readings and come to class and you'll have few problems. She isn't the most exciting professor, but you will learn.

Such an amazing professor. Seriously best class I have taken at kent and its my senior year. She is straightforward with grading and all of the her expectations. Class is easy, notes then discussion. All around just a good class and teacher.

I had her for US history formative period. The lectures are long and tedious but she makes it interesting and easy to understand. Weekly quizzes over short readings and a study guide that is the actual test makes it easy to pass. She made me interested in history.

Dr. Gruenwald is a wonderful professor. Passionate about history, and always willing to help you, even if you arent good at writing papers. I learned the most in her class then I did in any other history course. She is also extremely nice.

Very intelligent and awesome professor. I hated history as a freshman, and I am pursuing a 2nd degree in it because of her. The work she assigns helps me you to not only understand the material but do well on the exams.

If your planning on being challenged and succeeding in grad school. I highly recommend her undergraduate courses. She teaches you a great deal, and always willing to help you. She can teach well, and make history interesting even for someone that has to take the class for the LERS and not history major.

One of the best college professors i had at KSU. graduated last spring, and had her for jefferson-jackson era. i suck at writing papers, and she did everything she could to help me and give extensive feedback. learned a lot in her class and earned an A, with a lot of effort though

have her this semester for 18th century America and love her! she is so knowledgeable about history and her lectures grab my attention. I had her for jefferson jackson too, which was another great class

Best history professor I ever had. Her lectures are so interesting and she can apply the information to a whole myriad of different learning styles students may have. I am horrible at papers, and she did everything she could to help me, which served as a great asset in my other courses. Highly recommend! You wont regret it.

Gruenwald is a very knowledgeable and excellent professor and knows a great deal about her field. She gives vast feedback on papers, which has served as a tremendous asset in my other courses with papers. Her Jefferson Jackson course is so interesting, and her lectures are amazing. Highly recommend for history courses.

Have her this semester. I think she is a pretty great professor. She was my prof. for the Jefferson Jackson era two years ago. I learned a lot. Love that papers account for a bulk of your grade, not just exams. She was extremely helpful to me with my papers and explained issues in writing so well, that Ive applied that to future courses. recommend

Gruenwald is the best professor of history Ive had. I am a senior graduating in May. Had her freshman year for history and later for Jefferson Jackson. Her expectations are clear, and if you are a serious history student you will reap a bushel from her class. She is helpful with material and papers, and prepares you well for grad school. Take her

All I'll say, is if every professor of history were as clear and concise and an immense motivator as she is, I would switch from a minor to a major in history. The class is hard but honestly Ive learned by far more from Gruenwald then I have in any other history class. She made lectures interesting. Will take her again

Professor Gruenwald was one of the best professors I've had at KSU. She is an incredibly kind woman and was always so helpful with papers, pushing you to think about the big historical picture as well as details. Class discussions were always engaging and fun. Every student should take a class with her before they graduate!!

Prof. Gruenwald is a great history professor. Definitely talk to her about your papers in advance and she will guide you in the right direction. Her lectures are amazing and this woman kept me engaged A lot of people miss, but participating and having clearly read the material before helps. Would take again.

Her class was one of the best classes I've taken at Kent so far. She is a wonderful lecturer, very clear and passionate about her subject. She is very approachable and friendly, and loves to talk to students about the readings, papers or anything in general. Wont lie, She's a tough grader, but fair. Highly recommend taking a class with her.

enjoyed both of gruenwalds classes tremendously! She engages students in their learning in a systemic and bountiful clear way. A lot of reading and writing to do and isnt always the easiest grader in the whole world. However, that makes you feel so much more happier if you get an A. take her classes youll learn a lot.

great history professor!

I worked so hard in her class this and last semester and walked out learning a lot. She is a brilliant woman, and if you arent as passionate about history as some are, she will instill and spark some! I loved her lectures a lot. Awesome professor

I took her Early Modern America history class and learned a lot from her. I'm not a history major, but she made the topic much more bearable. For the papers, I'd recommend getting a draft done early so you can check with either her or the TA so you can get the best grade possible.

I have a love-hate relationship with her. She knows her stuff. Her lectures are very heavy with no ppts or notes uploaded after class. Lectures are like a story so it's easier to keep focus while she speaks, but it's still a long period of listening and taking notes. Tons of essays, exams are NOT multiple choice(essays), and I only read for quizes

She's very moody; has good days and bad days. You have to buy and read the 4 books she requires for the class - can't do papers without them. She lectures without any slides so you have to sit up front and pay close attention otherwise you'll miss something that's on the exam. 4 papers, and a couple exams and quizzes make up your grade.

She is a good professor who wants you to pass and do well. I was nervous to take this class because she lectures without slides but as long as you pay attention you will do well. Write down everything she says! Textbook reading quizzes help boost grades and she gives really helpful study guides that tell you exactly what is on the exams!

She is a good professor by knowing her material and formats her lectures like a story, but make sure to write EVERYTHING DOWN she doesnt use PowerPoints. But her study guides are exactly like the tests. This class you have to study for because all of her tests are written exams but if you do the study guide youll ace the tests

This class was extremely easy. It's all things you already know from history classes in elementary through high school. She gives you a study guide the week before the test so you have exactly what you need before you take the test. I went to class a couple of times before the first test and then never again except to turn in papers and take tests.

Her exams are open note. There's a lot of note taking but once you take the first exam you figure out what to write down & what to just listen to. The first part of class is discussing the readings which aren't long. She's an old school professor who's passionate about her subject & doesn't tolerate students disrupting class which is refreshing.
