Very good teacher, tries to clarify alot of things. She is very easy going, and nice to talk to easy to understand too. She definately knows what she is talking about and is very comfortable doing what she does I can tell.
Extremely nice lady, tries hard, but just doesn't do a very good job at teaching basic math. I'm told she's good at calc, but math 108 is by far not her strong point.
Kim will take the time to explain anything to you. No what the question, she will answer it with a smile. Watch out for her exams, use her quizs to study for the exams.
Kim is the Best! She takes time to put down ALL the steps for solving the problems. As long as you take notes and keep all of your quizes and exams, you'll do fine. Just keep practicing the ones you don't quite get and they'll come to you.
I would have to say that this is the first semester that I am actually enjoyed my math class. I highly recommend taking Ms. Hasbrouck.
Very helpful, nice lady!
the best teacher i ever had for calc, I love her, and you'll enjoyed it too
Great teacher; writes out problems step-by-step so there is little misunderstanding about how to do them. Her tests also reflects what she teaches. It might be different since I took it over the summer but I rarely did problems in the book and got an A. Rather, I spent more time going over the practice problems she posted on Blackboard.
I didn't like her at all. She seems so damn worried about the color of her chalk that she forgets that the numbers are more important. Dispite her efforts to dislike and bore me I passed the class and will not take another class with her.
The BEST math teacher ever! Loved the different colors she used on the blackboard to make it better to understand! Explains extremely well an makes sure everybody gets the material, otherwise u can meet her in the office and she ll go over it again for you.
An extremely detailed instructor. There are many examples and lots of opportunity for practice. She is well prepared and grades work efficiently. You must go to class in order to get a full understanding of the concepts.
Took Int. Algebra online. She was always available for office visits or through email if you had a question. Excellent practice tests -USE THEM!
OUTSTANDING teacher...take her class!!! She is great at explaining the work, the homework answers are in the back of the book, she is always available for you and so nice. Great quality teacher. I would take her again in a heart beat.
Really nice woman. she is very willing to give extra help outside of the classroom. I felt like she reviewed more than taught - like we already knew the info. But regardless, she was always available for extra help and really wanted her students to do well in her class; very genuine.
Very helpful, thorough teacher. Provides good notes, gives plenty of chances to ask questions. Gives you a thorough answer key after tests so you can see where your mistakes were. Plenty of time for tests. Recommended.
I took the online class. As stated before, the practice exams are very useful (very close to the real thing). She gives plenty of extra notes and tips on how to solve problems and use the calculator. I highly recommend her!
Helpful, and kind.
AWESOME INSTUCTOR!!! very helpful and crystal clear. After this class I got interested in math
Very good teacher! Very helpful! I didn't like algebra before, but with her help it's not so bad. Would absolutely recommend her to any of my friends!
great teacher very nice probably the only math teacher ive had who didnt talk down to me
Best teacher ever. Made the material very easy to understand. Would definitely take this instructor again.
Best math teacher ever. Clearly written notes and made math easier to understand. Puts a lot of time into handouts for us. Would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a good math teacher.
One of the best teachers ever! Extremely helpful and very nice. I'm really bad at math, but after taking this class with Kim, I was actually able to understand the subject. I HIGHLY recommend her!
Very nice and very helpful! Hasbrouck is very clear and takes time to explain to the class. She loves her colored chalk. Bonus: the final replaces your lowest exam.
Kim is not only sweet, helpful and kind-her class is easy to follow and crystal clear. She has very good teaching methods and I would recommend her to everyone (whether your good at math or not).
I never enjoyed any math class until I took Ms. Hasbrouck. She is very helpful and always has plenty of office hours if you need extra help. Her teaching style is very efficient. I will be taking her next semester for MATH144.
No math teacher has ever been able to get through to me until her. She is so nice & willing to help anytime. Her office hours are great, and she's VERY organized. Has four exams and if your final is better than one of them then your lowest gets dropped. She has homework quizzes every thurs so do your hmwk!! Plus its helpful to do it. Take her!
Mrs. H is brilliant! She knows math as if she invented it. She is willing, even eager, to share her knowledge. She really cares whether or not you understand the material. She is thorough and fluid in her teaching. You would be missing out if you didn't take her class. Great instructor.
Kim is so nice and kind to us. Assigns a lot of HW, but it helps for the tests. No quizzes. HW is graded. Her class notes were very clear and easy to follow, which is great b/c the book sucks. Provides exam reviews along with answer key.
She's AMAZING! Very clear and helpful. I am very happy to have had her as my teacher, would definitely recommend her!
ONLINE class. I was worried bc I had not taken math for YEARS. She has this program called livescribe where u can hear her speak the notes as they appear on ur screen. She is a great teacher. Always prompt to reply to emails. I took this class in the summer so the work load was high, yet I still passed with a high 'B', take her. U wont regret it!
Omg Kim is AMAZING, she is prolly the smartest teacher ive had, she knows everything. She is so nice and helpful. Always takes time to answer questions and shes very easy to understand. Kim has lots of office hours. The class is hard if you dont go to class and dont try. We have lots of hw but it is not graded. But id recommend doing it!SHes great
She is so helpful and has office hours so she can help her students. She offers great resources and tools on blackboard to help with comprehension. I took the online course and her teaching style was wonderful!
Kim is a great teacher for this class! Breaks the subject matter down nicely so it can be understood. Fast on the blackboard but if you take good notes you'll do fine. Gives weekly homework quizzes. Tests aren't easy, but it's not an easy subject. Plenty of review before tests. Always willing to help w/ questions during office hours or after class.
Kim makes calculus seem so easy, she is the most helpful teacher I have ever had. It seems weird, but my prior math classes seemed HARDER than calc I. I think the way she teaches makes the class easier than it should be. She is also very helpful when you ask questions. If you hate math, then this is the teacher for you. Trust me, you will pass
She is a good teacher!! very clear and always willing to help students!
I only wish i could get her for calc II. Please teach a night section! :-) Oh well hopefully see you in cacl III!
By far, she has the most effective teaching methods among any professors I've had. Her attitude and willingness to help students learn the subject is an immense help.
Best teacher I've had for a math class. Ever. She explains everything so well and thorough. She also answers questions to the fullest. I HIGHLY recommend her!
Had Hasbrouck for Calc I, and she was great. Her notes were very clear and she always took time to work out homework questions. She's full time, so she has lots of office hours if you need additional help. She hands out review sheets for all tests. Always in a good mood and excited about math, which made it fun, as well!
Mrs. H was awesome! Best math teacher i've ever had! Super helpful and very clear about any assignments or quiz. She actually wants everyone to pass the class unlike other dull, old, washed out clc professors! Made the class actually fun, which is saying alot for someone who HATES math.
best math teacher...EVER
Kim is a great teacher. I never cared for math before, and had a very hard time understanding the concepts prior to her class. She really breaks down the steps and does her best to make sure you understand. If you attend her class, do your homework, and pay attention you should receive an A.
Business Calc is hard. Be sure you have plenty of time to dedicate to it. Kim is great, always willing to help and the tutor center at the school helped a lot too. The class moves really fast so be sure to keep up with the homework, thats where she gets a lot of her test questions.
BEST MATH TEACHER EVER. TAKE HER. Wish I could take her for 108, but no time that she had was good for me. She made everything so easy. If you think math is hard, take her, she will make it easy for you!
Best Math Teacher that anyone could ever ask for. She explain things very clearly and will always be willing to help you before or after class! I will DEFINITELY be taking pre-calc or calc with her if she is available! Amazing! Do yourself a HUGE favor and take her for any math class she teaches!
Best Math teacher ever. I always hated math until I took her class. She is amazing and explains everything with detail. Answers everyones questions. An overall great teacher.
Great teacher! She's very upbeat and sweet. Will answer any and every question you have. Has lots of office hours and is more than willing to help. Take notes, do the homework, and you will receive nothing lower than a B.
She was so great really helpful and made things very easy to understand! Shes a really nice teacher and has a lot to offer.
She's very clear. Easy to work with. Wants you to do well. Offers extra help all the time. However like most math classes grades your work so closely, that's my pitfall. But if you're looking for a good Calc teacher and are actually going to put a bit of work in. You'll do just fine in her class.
very picky when in grading your homework or exams. she explains the material very well but when she got to the conics section she rush all the material in one class. not a bad teacher but is not easy to get an A in her class with a lot of work outside the class. On exams she will always find something to put on not to give you an easy A.
Easily the best instructor I've had at CLC. She demands a lot of hard work, but that that is expected in calculus. Thoroughly enjoyed her class. Excellent explanations and she writes a lot on the board. Very helpful to me in the office.
very nice lady and great teacher! she is very approachable and helps with anything you ask her. highly recommend her :)
I am a great student however I struggle with math. Mrs.Hasbrouck takes the time to work with students and help them to understand. I would of done better on my overall grade however I had some issues remembering everything on the final exam, but I would recommend her as a teacher. If you need help they have resources on campus to help with math.
Very good teacher. She is very nice and approachable if you have questions.
She makes you work hard, but is the best professor I've EVER had. You will do yourself a favor if you take her. BEST BEST BEST BEST!!
Professor Hasbrouk is just an amazing professor. Very helpful and clear on what she's teaching.
One of the most inspirational professors at CLC. You can see that she cares and loves not just teaching the material but EDUCATING the class. Wouldn't recommend any other math teacher. Take her, I promise she will change how you think of math.
I took this class after I saw her rating on this site... Little did I know people barely mention anything on here. She's somewhat good at teaching, but gives A LOT of homework. Her tests are HARD. She expects a lot of memorizing for a math class, which I still don't get. Expect to memorize every equation you come across for the entire semester.
Tough but good teacher. Writes a *lot* on the board, goes through many exercises, and best of all, she color codes all of the formulas! Each variable has different colors so when things get hairy it is easier to understand. 810 would take again!
Very nice but I had a really hard time in her class. She taught constantly and never reviewed which didn't work well with me at all. I had trouble getting a B in this class and usually I'm an A student. If you take her be sure to ask for help when you need it
Mrs. Hasbrouck was a very nice teacher. She was always there whenever i needed her. MTH 145 is not an easy A busy if you take her lectures serious and study little bit outside of the class there is a chance you could an A. I am taking her again for 146
First time in my life i FAIL this class. i took her after reading this comments and rating. she nice but her class is so hard and fast. she write too much on board. her exam is so hard .She expects a lot of memorizing for a math class, which I still don't get. Expect to memorize every equation you come across for the entire semester.
kim is a great teacher! she is very nice and very helpful!!! her lectures are awesome and i learned a lot in this class. do the homework and DO THE STUDY QUESTIONS she gives u to study for the tests. do them and understand them and you will succeed and she is always there to help you with office hours!
Awesome instructor. This class has so much material, but she breaks it down so that you can understand. You need to do the homework, but as long as you do the HW, you can pass. Great semester Ms. H!
She was really nice but expect a lot of daily homework, although, it's due on every test day which is once a week. You can always stay after class for help and can always email her and get a response back quickly. The tests were really hard and were more difficult than what she teaches in class. You cannot miss one day or you'll be completely lost.
Kim is easily the best math teacher i have ever had. The material being taught is tough, but she appeals to all learning types. Show up ready to learn for every class, do the homework and review questions, and you will do well. She makes math fun and is always willing to help.
I have always been terrible at math but sitting in the front row while she taught, I passed no problem. Shes very good at explaining and is always running back and forth to the board to help explain better. Would definitely take her again.
Professor Hasbrouck was an amazing teacher. Her lectures were clear and easy to follow. She isn't afraid to quickly cover old material you may have forgotten either, which is so so helpful for those of us who took a long break from math. She is very easily accessible outside of class and willing to help. Would take her again in a heartbeat.
Wow, Kim ties for the number one math teacher in my college career (with Jason). I had her for Calc I. She is very organized and detailed. The notes in class are possibly the most detailed and concise I've ever had. Alway willing to help outside of class and she really cares about her students. If you do the homework the tests are uncomplicated.
She is the best math teacher I have ever had! Very helpful, kind and energetic. I highly recommend her as a professor!
I took Professor Hasbrouck after a nearly a 1.5 year hiatus between math courses. Going into the semester I wanted to make sure I had the right professor for Math 108. Professor H. always went above and beyond to individually help me with both coursework and general course information. It was a pleasure to be in her class.
For a class as difficult as Calculus, Mrs. H makes it seem easy. She makes it clear at the beginning of the semester that math is not a spectator sport. In order to pass, you need to practice outside of class, and that is the key to passing. It's a 5 credit course, so make it a priority. Highly recommend!
I took her class over the summer, and while it was supposed to be at a faster pace, it did not seem like it. Mrs. H is a great teacher and is very thorough in her lectures. She really makes sure you understand the material. Her review guides are like the tests which make it easier to study for them. I highly recommend taking her class.
awsome teacher
Omg take her she's the best at explaining the material, and is very welcoming. The book they use you can easily find on amazon for $25, and the notes she gives out are very helpful. Just practice problems again and again. Also ask questions if you don't understand, but she's the best math professor I've had in a while.
She is definitely the best math teacher I've ever had! I took other professor's calculus, and I regret I did that. She is caring and her notes are really helpful. She is really organized. As long as you do your hw and knows what's going on, you will pass with a good grade. She even has practice exams for you, it's just awesome and helpful!
The best math teacher I've ever had! She's amazing at what she does. I've always struggled with math, but with her It all came so easy. She's very kind and respectful of students. She's understanding and doesn't grade harsh. take her!
Pls take her, she makes printed guided notes and she explains everything clearly and she is so nice and she makes study guides to exams which are almost exactly like the actual tests.
Professor Hasbrouck is a nice woman but an awful teacher. She assigns a lot of homework but only makes it worth a small number of points. She doesn't explain the material clearly & has trouble answering questions. She gives no quizzes, so the 3 tests and the final make up your entire grade. Questions on the test are ones not on the study guide.
This professor seemed kind but since the start I notice her teaching was very heavy and she doesn't understand how math takes a toll on people like myself, she is very unforgiven to those who math doesn't come easy. Her test were always different from the reviews. I hated the fact she constantly sneaks' terms on test to get people off guard.
Ms Hasbrouck is an amazing professor. I have struggled with math my entire life and she presented it in a clear and concise way. I finally understood math after years of frustration! I would highly recommmend taking Mrs H! Best college experience so far!
Very nice and understanding teacher. This class is hard but as long as you pay attention and study you will get a good grade. If you have questions she is always happy to help you or you can go see a tutor. Tests are the same format as practice tests and homework is easy. Study for tests and do the homework and you'll get a good grade.
I am NOT a math person, however Kim inspired me to puh through and nail this class, I went into this class not knowing or caring about the material, but was able to turn a D into a B imply by actually putting effort into homework and studying, she is super helpful in and outside of class if you have any questions, very nice instructor, I recommend.
great
I love Mrs.Hasbrouk, her class is all lecture. you have weekly homework quizzes starting week 2, you use your homework on the quiz, so make sure you do the homework. Her tests are like the study guide, if you ask she will give hits on whats on the test. 3 tests total. No extra credit but the final replaces you lowest test score if higher
Nice teacher but the lectures were so boring I almost fell asleep every class but maybe that's just because math is so boring.
She is very friendly during lectures and is more than happy to help you if something is not clicking during office hours. There are weekly homework quizzes that are open note, and should take you less than 5 minutes to complete if you did your homework.
Mrs. Hasbrouck is a great and friendly professor! She only grades quizzes and exams, not assignments, but doing the assignments are important for quizzes ONLY (open notes) while exams you obviously have to study from a study guide, she posts it. Overall, great professor please have her on any math class she teaches.
Great professor. Love her class. I'm just a little worried we aren't going to cover everything we need to because we are like two weeks behind the other class.
Amazing, fabulous, understanding.
Kim is great. Love her class. I'm just worried because we aren't going to finish the topics and I hope that doesn't hurt me for transfer
Professor Hasbrouck is amazing at providing help for her students. She does assign a lot of homework, but it is beneficial to complete it as her exams mimic the homework assignments. She is genuinely caring and wants you to succeed in her class. She provides ample study material for all exams, and structures them accordingly.
This "nice" professor for Calculus I when it comes to exams, she is very strict on grading them. All she wants is perfection on solutions but not the correct answers. I get partial credits all the time not even saying I'm correct. I never failed in my whole life until in her Calculus I class. Don't select her as your Calculus I professor.
Hasbrouck is a friendly and professional math instructor she knows the material very well. Her handouts and review packets are helpful, and she offers partial credit for showing work in the exams not just the final answer. While exam timing can be strict, she occasionally provides a brief lecture afterward. She's a great choice for math courses.
Don't pick her as your Calculus I professor. I have never failed a math class in my entire life until this semester with her. Very strict in grading when it comes to exams and a final exam which I had failed in her class. I have to retake the class for this! You will withdraw after one exam which I thought I'm going to come back but no I am stuck.
This professor and her "nice" is not enough for me to pass in her Calculus I class. I tried everything when it comes to exams by studying but I failed everything because of her strictness in grading the exams and the final exam. Lots of people saying she is a great professor, but I found out she is not simply because of tough grading on exams.
Don't take her as your Calculus I even if you wanted to pass the class by doing great in exams. Forget about the assignments and quizzes, focus on the exams. I failed in her class because of her tough grading in exams. She wants to make it perfect from the solving the problem to get the answer. Not even a "You're correct" but gives partial credit.
She expects me to study for the quizzes and exams when she gives us homework of more than 30 questions trying to solve based on what we learned in class. She said always use the answer key but make sure you simplify. I am doing bad on exams because of it despite on doing great on quizzes. Don't pick her if you want to do great on exams.
