If you're not a big fan of physical geography this would be the teacher to take. He is clear and very enthusiastic about what he is teaching. A very involved teacher who is at the level of his students. His study guides are great!

Mr. Hatch is a good teacher, and it is obvious he loves what he does. Pay attention and you can learn a lot from him. He is a wealth of knowledge, and I really enjoyed the class. The tests can be a bit tough, but the quizzes & activities are simple.

An enthusiastic professor. His sense of humor is a bit lame, but overall a great instructor. Puts a good deal of effort in making the class easy enough for most to comprehend.

Mr. Hatch is THE best teacher i've had since going to long beach city...hes a cool guy and seems really into what he teaches so it makes you interested in it also..the class is pretty much an easy A if you study just a little bit for the tests and do the easy assignments he gives.

Great teacher, looks like Dennis Miller and does an excellent job with the lectures. He uses powerpoints and has everything well organized. Really nice guy and his test are directly off of the powerpoints. Periodicaly he will give short stories that relate to the class lecture which can be very amusing. No one in that class has a problem with him.

Mr. Hatch is an awesome teacher. I loved his class! He inspired me to care more for the earth and everything in it. The class is easy enough; there are 4 class activities, 4 map quizzes, 4 tests, and the chance for extra credit by doing a 30 min. beach cleanup! All you need to do is read the material and follow the lectures!

I love Prof. Hatch! Wonderful class. Teaches w/powerpoint lectures. Gives a study guide and allows a 3x5 notecard to use for the test (put whatever notes you want on both sides). Though, his test come straight from your notes (got an A) Lots of extra credit. 4 easy map quizzes. His class has made me consider to go further into physical geography.

He provides a study guide for the test and allows you to use a index card, just in case!!!!WHAT could be easier?!?!?!

Mr. Hatch is a great teacher! His test are not super easy, you do have to study in order to pass the test. He does allow an index card, but if you study you wont need it. There is some opportunity for extra credit (beach clean ups and study skills workshop). His notes are clear and he is willing to help anyone that needs it.

One of the better instrs. @ LBCC. Has a solid prof. bkgd. in the field + impressive understanding of not only PGEOG but several sciences. His style is accessible & yet challenging, not to mention fairly inspiring. It's nice to have a teacher bring passion as well as knowledge to his class. Accomodating but expects adult behavior from students.

Very helpful and his lectures are clear. Funny teacher and truly cares about the students. Doesnt take attendance after the first week, if you miss a class his notes are in the library. Also he highlights what information is going to be the test when he lectures through his power point. Easy

this teacher is amazing. he tells you exactly what is going to be on the test and its really fun to watch him lecture because he gets into it so much. he doesnt really care if you come to class after the first couple of weeks. his exams are a little tough but he gives u study guides and lets u use a cheat sheet on the test. amazing teacher.

The best instuctor!!!(A Hottie too). Very interesting and inspiring. Mr. Hatch's entertaining lectures are full of all of the info you will need for the exam. You even get to use a notecard on the exam. There are many opportunities to get extra credit. Take advantage of them and you won't have to worry too much about your exam scores. Take him!

The class was easy. Great teacher who always keeps you entertained. Gives out studyguides and use of notecard for exams, but to get an A you must fully understand. Otherwise easy B. Book not necessarily needed but he allows older versions which can be purchased for 10 bucks..dirt cheap. Assignments are very minimal.

Wonderful teacher, absolutely loved. He loves what he teachers so he makes the lectures fun and interesting. You do have to study for his test, they can be a bit tricky. Very helpful, always willing for you to stop by his office for help or even just to talk. Great guy.

The guy's cool and funny. He his an environmentalist, so his was well informed and a passionate lecturer on enviromental science. His test aren't easy though, but just study the book, his notes, and do his study guide and you'll be fine. He also gives out a lot of extra credit. His assignments are an easy A as long as you complete them.

Hatch is so great!! He goes over everything you need to know and is super enthusiastic about it. Study guides are awesome and make it so you never need the book. This teacher is EASY!! Mr. Hatch is a nice guy and hardly gives homework. There is a couple of quizzes though especially on Maps. He is excited about the subject he teaches and it is clearly his passion. The test are long but not too hard if you STUDY. I would recommend him for physical geography 1.

Professor Hatch is a great guy! I took him for Environmental Science over the summer. He used powerpoint and there was a lot of note taking, but the tests were easy if you studied. He let us use an index card of notes for the tests. Easy homework. I didn't use the textbook much during the semester, but still got an A. Highly recommended!

My God, if you are going to enroll in Physical Geography, you had better take this prof. Simply an easy class, and a hell of a guy. Intelligent, but comes down to your level in order to convey the lesson. Easy grade

He uses slides when he is teaching and explains everything from each slide. all u have to do is write down what each slide contains and u'll have all the info for the test

Really laid back professor. He gives you study guides before the test so if you fail its really on you. He doesn't really care about attendance but if you don't go to class you miss out big time because you won't know what to expect on the test. He uses a powerpoint for notes and visuals so that you can learn both by seeing and hearing about it

The class is easy, only if you come to class, and take good notes. His exams hardly posses any challenge. There are quizzes (map quizzes...easy) but no homework. I took his class on monday nights, yet he mentained to keep the class fun. Highly recommended

Easy class as long as your read the material, and do the study guides. If I didn't do the extra credit I would of gotten a B. The extra credit is a huge grade booster. The map quizzes are a dead giveaway as long as you study them.

This dude is AWESOME! I Can't remember the class number but it was Physical Geography. To pass take notes, everything he puts in his PowerPoint write down, it is pretty much where the answers to the study guide are which means the answers to the test. He is helpful and enthusiastic about what he teacher, I very much enjoyed attending his class.

Mr. Hatch, is one of those teacher that really get into all detail about his work of study. 4 exams, but only need to pass 3 out of the 4; and drop one of the lowest exams. Exam are base off your notes. So I suggest you go to his class pay good attention and take very good notes. Easy class, let you use index card during the exam.

Every day when i leave his class i learn new interesting information that i shared with others. he drop the lowest exam grades.and it's multiple choice

I am still enrolled in Kim's Geography Class and I like it. The lectures are very interesting. Map quizzes are a breeze and the tests are comprehensive but he gives you a study guide in advance and lets you use a 3x5 card with notes. Come on! Cool teacher.

Physical geography can be dry, but Hatch makes it interesting. He is easygoing, funny, and loves to talk. He really cares about his students and often discusses transferring. There are 6-7 map quizzes that are very easy if you just go over the maps. Take good notes (not just from his powerpoints) and skim through the book and you'll be fine!

Im currently taking this class, and so far, its fun and relative to the real world. He is very helpful and very clear. If you dont attend class that often you will FAIL. his lectures and power points are basically the test. He gives you study guides, and if you complete it and take good notes and listen in class, you definately past the tests. :D

This was the 1st Weather Class that LBCC had this semester and professor Hatch was the perfect teacher for it. I had a basic understanding of weather but he really taught us things that we never knew of. Very fun class. Very easy as well. You really dont need the book. The exams are open note so that should help. Take Professor Hatch!

He is a very interesting teacher and keeps the class REALLY fun! But let me get down to what the tests are like... they are HARD! Make sure you really take your time on the study he gives out because they are the same exact questions he puts on the test. He allows a 3x5 index card, so make sure to fit all the info on it (it may be printed on!) GL!

Professor Hatch is AWESOME! If you don't like science but needs one, then take him.4 exams,4 map quiz & final. Our 4th exam was take home. Do and study the study guides it really helps! He has so much experience it makes his lectures fun and interesting, plus the more you get to know him the more you'll like him. And he loves Star Wars! XD

I took Jones for the lecture and Hatch for the lab. Jones is good but Hatch really stands out as the best science professor I've ever had. He is a very nice man, approachable, and overall just an exceptionally good person. I highly recommend the lab and wish I took his lecture even though Jones is also very good too.

His power point presentations are great and his study guides make it easy to get an A. You must read your book to get some information but 80% of what is on the tests are discussed in class. Great teacher!

One of the best teachers I have encountered at LBCC. He is passionate about what he does, cares about his students, and makes the material being taught fun and interesting. There are few homework assignments and the tests are followed closely to the study guides given. You get to write anything you want on a notecard for each exam. TAKE HIM!!

By far the best teacher I've had. He cares about students well being and even encourages students to get into a field that will be in demand in the future. Professor Kim Hatch is one of the best teachers I've ever taken in my educational career. I disliked physical geography very much, but now thanks to him I love it! His quizzes are easy, he gives extra credit, and study guides. He really cares about his students and is very understanding. He's super funny, nice, and friendly. Trust me!

Professor hatch was such a pleasure to have my first semester of college. His lectures were always very interesting due to his enthusiasm, and I was always looking forward to go to his class. He lets you use a 3 x 5 index card on exams. He also gives out map quiz's and maybe a total of 5 homework assignments total the entire semester.

He inspired me to be a geography major. First took his ENVRS 1 class and loved it. Then he went on a sabatical for 2 years and when he came back I took his PGEOG 2 weather and climate class. Loved them both. Pay attention to his lectures. He really cares about his students!! He gives extra credit as well and I believe drops a low test.

I took prof Hatch on campus and he is class was awesome. He lectures basically all class so it is important to show up and get his notes because they're not online. There were only 4 hw assignments through out the whole semester but there is a small quiz almost every week for the first half of the semester. This class is easy is you go to class.

He is the best teacher I have ever had! He really cares about his students and offers extra credit as well as always checks on how you are doing. This is the only class I will miss because he makes it very interesting and is passionate about what he talks about. 10/10 would recommend.

I only took this class to finish some GE classes. I never thought that I would learn so much from him. I did not like anything about geography, but he made it so easy to understand. My advice is to pay attention in class. Take good notes especially in his slides that is where he gets all his test questions. I highly recommend Prof. Hatch!

He's honestly one of my favorite professors I've taken at LBCC after being here for about 4 years! I always thought I wasn't that competent at science so I didn't go into this class with high expectations, but I ended up enjoying it so much & learning a lot of interesting things about the natural world. He is a very cool, interesting teacher!!

Hatch is extremely knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. You will learn a lot of useful, real world knowledge in this class. The entirety of the exams are based purely on his lectures, so take well-organized notes. Offers extra credit, 4 exams (drops the lowest one and allows a cheat sheet), and a few extremely easy homework assignments.

As an outdoorsman myself, I enjoyed Professor Hatch's lectures on the earth's land formations and the forces that impact them. I definitely enjoyed the class, and it's one of the few courses I've taken where I can actually apply what I've learned in my everyday life or before planning a trip to the mountains, deserts, etc.

Just got done taking his Summer 2020 course and Professor Hatch made it painless as possible. He gave all of us extra credit opportunities and was very clear what assignments needed to be done. He was also very flexible with turning in late assignments. I would definitely recommend you take Professor Hatch's class, you wont regret it! A+

Lots of lecture videos. Exams are based on lecture vids so never used book. 4 open book exams- lowest score dropped. A few worksheet submissions. Extra credit avail. Exam answers cant be looked up online (i.e. Quizlets) you have to watch vids. Everything is outlined in syllubus. Clear grading. Prof easily accessible, helpful, organized. Great class

Professor Hatch is a really nice guy. I took him for an online class and he made all course material/instruction incredibly simple and clear. He's generous on grading and always replies to emails outside of class for any questions or concerns. He has been one of the nicest professors I've had and I fully recommend taking his class.

Took Prof. Hatch for fall 2020 and he was great! Make sure you listen to the lectures, a good amount of the questions on the exams are said in his lectures & not listed on the study guide. For the most part the study guide was helpful. I didn't use the textbook, just listened to the lectures. Do the work and it's an easy A

Prof Hatch is passionate about his topics. He gives thorough lectures and tells you if something specific will be on a test. He provides a study guide as well as pdf handouts of the lectures. Professor Hatch was awesome, took him for a winter session of Geography Weather and Climate and it was an easy A! He explains things well, gives feedback, and seems to really care about his students! Workload wasn't heavy either, just lectures and four worksheets and tests for the class.

Easy grader, lets you redo assignments if you just ask him! Hes very helpful and understanding, hes one of few professors that care bout his students. Study guides are also helpful. Not much work. There are 4 worksheets, 4 exams and 4 quizzes. Quizzes are easy As! Overall easy A!! Take him!!

This is a super easy class if just watch the lectures. He gives detailed study guides that basically cover everything that is on the test. There are also a few worksheets and quizzes but he literally gives you all the questions beforehand. I wasn't too excited to take this class in the beginning but I ended up learning a lot and enjoyed it!

Very kind, gave me credit when I didnt deserve it. Came into this class thinking Id fail, got an A. Watch the YT videos on the lecture slides and you should get an A. Amazing teacher!!!, very straight forward this is the format his work is given online its 1 worksheet 1 quiz, and 1 exam every 2 weeks or so, and the worksheet and quiz are given way before so you can print it out and then do it when the assignment opens up so there's no way to get less than 90%. each exam has a study guide with videos up 2 hrs

Amazing professor, doesnt take attendance but I would suggest going because there is unannounced in class activities. He allows to make some up but not all. 4 exams but drops your lowest score, has a study guide for every exam. Offers 15 points extra credit. Class was very interesting and easy. Assignments are easy to understand and complete with full points. Quiz questions are literally given out beforehand. Tests are easy and come with study guides prior to taking them. However, you are graded by few things, so losing a few points could mean the difference between an A or a B. Would take again!

I was in Dr. Hatch's class in 2011. He was the best professor I ever had and his Physical Geography class made me switch my major to Geography. If you take your schooling seriously and enjoy learning, take this class. This class will teach how/why earth and space works the way they do. Weather, oceans, desert, mountains, earthquakes, planets, it is all covered. Prof. Hatch does an amazing job explaining in simple terms complicated things. Class was online so be sure to watch all the video lectures and take notes. Class is designed to pass with flying colors.

The material was highly engaging, and the instructor taught us to better observe our surroundings, allowing us to gain more from the class than we initially expected. I met professor Hatch through GEOL17 the feild course, this man is a wealth of knowledge and just a gem of a human being. I am graduating in the spring but would literally re enroll just to be able to take one of his courses
