Great teacher for Student Success. Fun & easy class!

Ms. Long is an awesome teacher! im taking 4 classes and she's my favorite. teaches clearly and is verrry helpful. class is fun because your involved in each lesson. homework is simple, but don't slack. its an easy A, if you work for it!

I had her for Student success and she was my most favorite teacher she helped me out a lot and she makes the usually boring class fun, she is one of those teacher that you will remember for the rest of your life b/c she is so amazing!

She is a really nice teacher who cares about each student. The work isn't hard, but there are journal entries, papers, and group assignments you have to do. If you are gona take SS, then take the teacher, but I thought the class was a waste of time.

She is like your favorite Kindergarten teacher, & she even gives out candy! Its an easy A if you do the papers (little hard), journals (easy), & group project(fun & easy). In the end, great teacher, & you leave a better and more confident student.

Prof Long is one of the most caring professors you could find. SLS is not a hard class but it is a class that is very valuable to struggling students, young or old. She is there for you if you have a problem in school or in your personal life.

Mrs Long is the best professor. You learn lot of helpful information while having lots of fun! It's also easy. The assignments that she asks you to do are very fair. You have to be a REALLy bad procrastinator or slacker to not get an A, and if you are than she will motivate you to do the work anyway

shes verrrry good, i would recommend her to anybody whos taking student success because it's very easy, just do the work which is not even alot nor hard, and u'll definitely get an easy A without effort (maybe a little effort will be necessary)

Mrs. Kim is a wonderful and a helpful teacher. Honestly, I do not know why a student will not take her classes. She comes to her classes on time, she grades the papers fairly,she explains everything clearly and perfectly, she is undestandable, and she is a very nice teacher who will take extra time with you if you're kind of a slow student. I took Mr. Long twice first time for Sudent Sucess, and the Second time for Speech. She is an excellent teacher, but she has been promoted to dean of communication this summer, so who knows if she will teach again but if she does take her. I got an A in Student Success and a B in Speech.

I was terrified of speech, but this teacher made it easy. Just to put that in perspective, I had already failed speech once, but I got an A in this class. Took her for student success my first semester and she was great then too. Very fair.

Very nice, very reasonable. Not an extremely easy A but you earn your grade. It is a fun class.

Took online. 3 taped speeches and chapter work. She was the best. I have terrible anxiety so I didn't take it on campus. She graded fairly and I got an A. I have a bit more confidence now in public speaking thanks to her. If your reading this and she's available do yourself a favor and take her. This was my 2nd time taking this course too.

Professor Long is a great teacher. She wants her students to succeed and gives every opportunity to do so. You need the book, need to watch the videos and follow instructions. I took the course online, but came into the classroom to give my speeches and that worked well for me.

A nice lady, but tends to treat students like children. Very fair in her grading. Assignments are easy and fun usually. The class was enjoyable, but the amount of class/peer interaction was belittling at times because of the content. She definitely made Speech a much more enjoyable class than I was expecting, though.

I was deathly terrified of taking Speech class. Prof. Long was awesome and helped me overcome my fears. I took her Speech class online and she was very fast to respond to my emails. While I still might not like speech class, I'm more comfortable when I need to speak in front of a group! I highly recommend Prof. Long if you have to take Speech!

OMG! Prof. Long is a very nice lady. She helps you overcome your fear with giving speeches. Book is required. There's is only 3 speech to be given throughout the semester (not like those other classes, that's every week) Her class is so much fun :) There's no need to be afraid, it's a speech class, nobody's going to judge. I RECOMMEND TAKING HER!

Kim Long is a GREAT proffessor, I barely used the book in her class. Class is MANDATORY, as she will drop you if you are absent to many times. Do the work and You will receive a good grade. I'm taking her AGAIN because I missed the Final and failed the Class. However, Nearly Everyone around me Got A's. So Take her! She's AMAZING

I LOOOVED this class,i was seriously sooo afraid to take speech but she made it so much fun & easy. She does grade a bit hard but just hit all the points on the rubric that she gives you and actually try and you should not have a problem passing this course. she really was THE best teacher for this! only 3 speech's & a fun project at the end :)

One of my fav. teachers, never ever mean or rude. always explained clear. I took this class my first semester of college and I was nervous, but she made me feel very comfortable. Easy A for GPA if you do all your work.

Took this class ONLINE and had to come up with 5 audience members for 2 or 3 speeches. Can also go to school to meet up if possible. I actually suggest that since you'll want to meet this lady, she's got an extraordinary mind and style when it comes to communications. Easy A if you don't slack.She lets you have fun while developing lifelong skills.

Public speaking freaked me out before this class, but Ms. Long really makes things easy on you, is an easy grader (except on speeches) and actually teaches you ways to cope with pre-speech fear and how to actually speak in front of audiences better, instead of just criticizing. Never mean or rude, always in a good mood, WANTS you to pass. Awesome.

This teacher expects you to learn, but gives you the tools you need to earn your A. She has a genuine interest in the success of her students and gives a few extra credit points here and there. She is very organized and teaches you a system for doing a speech. Follow the system and you'll do just fine.

I was dreading taking speech, but this ended up being my most favorite class I've taken in college so far! do the speeches and extra little assignments, you're guaranteed an A. This teacher actually cares about her students! Even though I took her class online, there was feedback given for every assignment! The quizzes are simple enough, and although I was terrified of public speaking, the speeches weren't too hard. 5 audiene members at home. 3 speeches all together. Easy A, just do the work!

Just found out the hybrids for the summer will not have required attendance. They are scheduled just so you don't have to find your own audience. Should have waited until summer.

Only two major speeches in class and an infomercial as the exam. There are quizzes online but they're easy and has no time limit. I dreaded this class but it turned out to be ok. Professor tried to make everyone comfortable and was really helpful. I'm just glad it's over. Easy 'B', but I'm not sure if it's an easy 'A'.

Took this class as the Hybrid so that I would not have to find an audience. EASY A, as long as you do your work and come to class as attendance at most VCC classes are required. Very nice Professor. Total of 3 speeches all are easy to have fun with.

Good Professor. Tough class. Public speaking is just not fun, but Professor Long made it manageable. I contemplated withdrawing from this class because of my anxiety, but wound up with an A. Do the work and come to class and you will too. She gives out candy too :)

Prof. Long, without a doubt, makes this class so pleasant!!! I was very nervous about taking a speech class, but I have to say that, I could have not taken this class with a better professor. She explains everything very well, she is always available, she responds to emails quickly, and she helps you to loose your fear about public speaking.

Highly recommend her course. Speech is tough. She is a tough grader, but she tells you exactly how to get an A. Don't be nervous, speeches are only like 2 minutes long. You can do speech in front of class or record at home. Like I said, she is a TOUGH grader but will give an A if you work for it. GREAT TEACHER. Very kind and helpful lady.

For an online class Prof Long couldn't make it any easier. She is very specific and detailed on what is due when. She gives a total of 4 speeches only 2 of them require a 5 person audience. I was deathly scared to take the class in person, but Prof Long has helped me relax. I recommend her for online speech.

Prof. Long is a wonderful person, and a very talented speech teacher. I took her online. There are 3 main speeches, narrative, informative, and persuasive, each difficult in different ways. Each speech will teach you a new tool for public speaking. I highly recommend taking her, she a fair grader, & her tests are very easy and right from the book!

I have high anxiety. I ended up with a B in the class, thank goodness. She was nice, sometimes too blunt but for the most part I enjoyed her thoughts on things. She was a pretty harsh grader even when I felt like I had done better I didn't think my next grade was reflected. I would recommend the class though.

I took Speech online and the class was hard for me but just because of me FEAR to talk in front of an audience and the anxiety i get from just thinking about it. The professor gave me some nonsense feedback for two of my speeches...I took it during full summer and I'm glad I finished it with an A.

I couldn't accept my own irresponsibility and bad time management and left a bad review she did not deserve. She taught me I need to work on those issues to be successful. Fun classes, easy content and great environment for learningexpressing ourselves. She is helpful, replies to emails promptly and provides a lot of points with small assignments.

Professor. Long is an amazing Speech professor. I passed her class with a B because I didn't put a lot of effort into the speeches. She taught me that preparing is essential. Always gives you good feedback and replies to her emails quickly. Only two online quizzes. Participate and do your work and you'll pass her class. I recommend her 100%.

She's so nice, & so supportive. She's a great teacher, speeches weren't hard. She taught well and made sure you understood. You work a lot in groups, but you need to since it's a speech class. These little group assignments help you put together your speech though. I loved her, she's a wonderful lady. It's an easy A, as long as you actually try.

Professor Long is absolutely amazing! She's very clear cut, and you know what you're whole semester's going to be like from day one. I took it online and it was a piece of cake. Only one speech and you can record it yourself or go on campus. Would definitely recommend. Especially for summer online.

Please, PLEASE read and take my advice. This class has become my family. There will never be another Kim Long, I do not understand how she doesn't have a perfect score, its absolutely absurd. This was my first semester in Valencia and I'm so pleased and thrilled that I had the opportunity to be in this speech class with Professor Long. She's extremely sweet, very comforting, and welcoming. She tells you specifically what you need for speeches and she's more willing to help. She replies back instantly on emails. Easy and not stressful!!

She is ridiculously nice! Great professor, I loved her. She's pretty funny too. She shares stories in class, really helps you with your speeches. We work in groups a lot, &it's a really easy A if you are prepared for your speeches, but she gives you plenty of time and help. Not that many grades, which would stink if you aren't doing so hot...

Ms. Long is a tough grader but she makes the class enjoyable. She makes sure the class is comfortable with each-other before speeches began, so expect getting up and talking to your classmates. Also, she makes everyone speak at-least once a week, but it is actually fun. and the textbook is free!

It is work to pass the course with an A, easy to get a B, but she gave me all the help needed and was quick to respond. It really helped me learn how to prepare for interviews and also get more involved in relationships. Keep in touch with her and you will do fine. Not sure why people are bashing her, she does grade your work and gives feedback.

I was dreading this class but Long made it so easy. There are only 3 speeches and they are easy as long as you practice them. Pick topics you are interested in. She has you do mini questions in front of your class to get used to speaking in front of the other students. She does not take excuses but posts everything on BB so you can check there.

Before this class, I hated talking in front of people and was terrified of speech. But Prof Long made the atmosphere so light and easy that speech class turned out to be my favorite class throughout the semester. She gives positive feedback when you're up front talking so you won't be as nervous. Super awesome professor, take her 100%!

Prof. Long has a way to start off every class in an interesting matter. The ambiance is very relaxed, ethical, professional and rather soothing to say the least. She is incredibly understanding with students who have anxiety when giving speeches; if there is a moment you feel like you don't want to go, she will skip you until you're ready.

Prof. Long does everything she can to make everyone feel relaxed and confident in a class that is nerve wracking for most. I think she grades a bit tough however, if you put in effort and show her you care she will make sure you succeed.

I'm have social anxiety and I DREADED going to this class at the beginning of the year. I hate talking to people and in from of people but I don't know miss long made me feel comfortable with my classmates and not by those cheesy icebreaker game either just by going in front on the class and talking. only did 3 speeches

Professor Long had a difficult class to teach considering it was a speech class,the students were just fine since all are honors in this specific class. She made the setting comfortable and was clear on her expectations but she is a tough graded and makes you work for your grade.

Professor Long is really good at teaching speech, but you have to be there. The reading is not required. I haven't heard of a better option, especially at East campus.

I was really nervous about taking speech with no friends. But, you end up really talking to a lot of new people. the proffessor had a full on conversation with me the first day of class. Speeches are based off whatever you want it to be. Fun class and would love to take it again.

This online class is not too hard. It is organized and easy to keep up with. Each week you have some reading, videos, and usually a discussion/quiz on the reading. Long grades quickly and so you know how you are doing. There is one short speech at the end, but it is really easy. Since it is required, this is not a bad way to get it done.

Only three speeches throughout the entire class. You have a couple of extra credit opportunities. Their are some quizzes that are graded but they are super easy. Hardly any homework. Easy class

Great professor! She's really caring and helpful, and her lectures are both interesting and useful. She really wants to help you speak well and improve yourself. She's not playing around with her grades though--she definitely sticks strong to the rubric, so practice is your friend.

The only homework u have is making an outline for the speech thats it !! 2 speechs and one is an interview. Like a job interview so easy !!!!

This professor is one of those professors you don't want to not take. She is a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed her classes. It was DIFFERENT. Not the mundane old traditional educational style of teaching, but hands-on work, which can be beneficial to your life. I love her office hours. It amazing to know how phenomenal this woman is.

Good speech teacher. She's fun and caring and as long as you show effort you'll do good. She's understanding that a lot of people are afraid to stand in front of the class and speak. She'll try and help you get over your fear by slowly easing you into it.

The sweetest, most caring professor! so genuinely caring and loving . I took her class as honors so it was a little more challenging but overall it's great. She isn't a tough grader but she grades what you work for. She always brings in little sweets for the whole class and asks random questions at the beginning of each class. Amazing.

Easiest online class ever. 1 test a week, all answers in provided book or quizlet. 3 speeches, 1 every two weeks. This class couldnt have been easier!

(Free textbook) First speech class and I'm glad I took professor long. She is passionate sweet and cares about all her students. 3 speeches and the quizs are easy as long as you read the chapter assigned. Gives great feedback and you learn so much about so many different things students do their speeches on. I would take this class again

Currently in the class and it is good. Well organized on line and the textbook is FREE. Some work each week, but it isn't too much. Interesting discussions and only one short speech with no audience right now.

Online class was straightforward and easy. Discussions count for a lot, but they were interesting. One short speech, no long papers to write. She is quick to respond with email if you have a question.

Very easy class which consisted of two major speeches and an interview Video as a final. This professor is very caring and understanding, grades quickly, and gives amazing feedbacks on assignment. You do need to read the lessons in order to pass the quizzes which are easy as well. Amazing professor overall.

Most of your grade made up of 3 speeches uploaded on youtube and outline. Very tough grader with criteria and requirements scattered all across canvas in emails, announcements, and different modules. Great feedback, responds promptly to emails, and quick grader. Textbook reading with quizzes, lengthy response requirements on other's speeches.

For an online class, it was really well organized and easy to follow. The speeches are graded with some good feedback from her and also your classmates. She offers some extra credit during the semester and the quizzes are directly from the free online textbook. I wish she taught an advanced course in speaking too.

Professor Long is AMAZING!. Take her class, she does an amazing job providing feedback and insight of the material and she communicates her thoughts and ideas effectively. You do the work and apply yourself and youll learn a lot while passing.

Professor Long is prob one of the best teachers to take for speech. She will take off points but do all the work and you should be fine. Dont be afraid to ask for help. Total of three speeches. Not a tough grader.

Took the class in person, standard semester course. Very good teacher. 2 speeches and one sudo-interview were the big assignments. Speeches (and interview) weighed the most, followed by assignments, only one quiz. Teacher was funny and realistic. Workload was pretty good, homework was mostly speech practice and work not finished in class. Funny too

Incredible teacher, 2 speeches, and a panel interview that you do in front of half the class, I do not think I've had a teacher as excited to teach me about a subject. As someone with extreme stage fright, she really helped me develop my public speaking.

Gave great feedback on assignments and had a light workload. She provides you with the textbook, and gives tons of resources for you. Replies to emails quickly and is understanding. There is one recorded speech assignment that is uploaded to youtube.

Putting my terrible history with public speaking aside, I will only talk about Professor Long. She is caring and makes it clear she wants us to succeed. The homework is not too too heavy, and very clear. Her feedback is also clear and easy to understand. I would recommend this class.

Prof. Long is the most amazing, caring, and organized teacher I have ever met. She wants her students to succeed and it's almost impossible not to pass. There is one speech, a couple of discussions/quizzes throughout the course, and readings. No textbook is required. Attendance is required but her classes are fun and you get graded for showing up.

Professor Long is great! 3 main speeches, all of them are laid out and easy to understand. She makes you feel very comfortable and cared about. She's a very friendly person who just wants the best for her students. I feel a lot more comofortable with speaking in front of the class after this course.

I took her online speech class in an 8 week session. It moves fast, but there were just 2 speeches and the directions were clear. Good feedback and fair grading for all assignments. The textbook is free and online, quizzes on the reading but you get two chances for each quiz. Lots of online sources and relaxation exercises are there.

I am in the SPC 1017 class that is mixed mode. We meet just once a week. Class periods are fun, we do lots of group stuff and talk with classmates. Not too much lecturing. The book is online and you take quizzes on the readings. Professor Long has been here a long time and knows how to teach. If you miss you can usually do some make up work.

SPC 1017 was an amazing class and Professor Long is a great teacher that has a great sense of humor. She is very caring and supportive of her students; she takes the time to understand her students' needs and perspectives. She clearly and effectively conveys ideas and information to the students in her class. The class is also very easy.

Professor Long is a very great person and the assignments that she gives out are very simple when doing. She is very funny and has a great personality. She also gives extensions out whenever some kids ask for them. I have no complaints and if anyone has complaints about her class then you are definitely the problem.

The class is very organized and the professor is fun. She loves what she does, but she just told us that summer is her last semester teaching. She is going to retire. We are just half way through the semester, I have learned a lot already. I would suggest taking her.

Prof. Long was so sweet, had very simple assignments, gave good feedback, and had interesting curriculum that is very applicable to daily life. I would take her class again.

I took the online class; she is such a nice professor. At first, I was super shy when I gave my first speech. But as the class went on, I felt more and more comfortable. The teacher's feedback really helped me a lot. I definitely suggest taking her class, and I'd take it again for sure!

I didn't talk much with prof Long, but she seemed nice. Does not accept late work under any circumstance, so beware. Pretty simple class, you have to do one 3-minute video speech with a peer review but no audience is needed. Course did not take up a lot of time, maybe 2 hours a week max. Genuinely enjoyed the course and glad I took it

This is the easiest class ever taken! Professor long was the nicest professor and all her work is super easy, she sends a lot of reminders every week and her assignments are spaced out a lot and give you a lot of time. Sad this was her last semester before her retirement , great professor!

Professor Long is great - she makes you feel comfortable and gives helpful feedback. The class has 2-3 speeches, but the workload is manageable. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for my speech prep. Definitely take this class if you want to improve your public speaking!
