class is pretty entertaining and she is an entertaining teacher. course isn't too difficult if you go to class and read.

I must have been one of the favorites because I found the class to be engaging and Prof. MacInnis to be attentive to the needs of her students and willing to provide extra attention to those that requested it. Do the work and get a good grade.

this is my first semester with her but she seems like a great teacher. she does favor some students but she still seems really nice. her lectures are very clear and she is so funny!

I was scared going into this class reading the comments about the teacher. She is really funny though, and I haven't seen any favoritism at all. She explains what she goes over really well and there is hardly any work.

Wow are all these negative remarks needed.Kim is the best CJ-So professor out here.She cares about her students and make sure they do well and lean the materials. She is very nice and shes funny, i guess some people just do not have a sence of humor.

She is attentive to students and does require work to challenge popular stances on issues. I have yet to find more than one student in 18 mos. who was not satisfied with her curriculm -and it was not an individual who wears a uniform.

Don't go by what some obviously bitter students say..just b/c they couldn't get their project done. MacInnis is an awesome prof..funny & interesting. Very insightful, she makes you think. Class discussions are great, tests require studying, but you actually learn a lot-take her, you wont be sorry

She is THE BEST.3essay question for test,and she also tells you what areas to focus on for the essay question exams.Just a midterm and a final.Took woman and crime, family violence, special topics canadian/american juvenile offenders,and internship with her. She is so great these people just bitter

Students looking for Quinn incentive should have taken a Quinn approved school to begin with. I leave Dr. M.'s class looking at current events with new and interesting perspectives she discusses. She treats students with respect and welcomes your views.

The comments re: the Quinn bill are at best: unjustified. If you wanted a "quik" degree and you are a law enforcement professional then you know what schools are available to skate through. I found Prof. Mac to be an insightful, forthright, honest and an excellent prof for a grad program. Semper Fi.

For one of five males in her women's studies class I felt very comfortable. She is quite interesting and passionate about her topics. She will help you if you need it, just ask.

All I got was a's I took her a whole bunch and why stop taking her if you can sail through with A's and put more concentration into harder classes. Her classes were not hard but they wouldnt have been if anyone was teaching. Cj is the science of the bloody obvious. Take this woman and peole get over the damn Quin Bill if your that upset go to NE.

Ok we will leave it at this, this class was amazing. I bombed my midterm and she let me bring it home to fix it. She gets side tracked easy and usually lets out class early. Dont take her if your some kind of heartless ****. But shes great, she'll answer any questions you have and she will give out a 10 page paper and 2 tests, CAKE! Easy A!

I dont know what the other ppl are talking about. This lady is SO nice and very approachable. I had her at 9 am and actually LOOKED FORWARD to her class. Def an easy A....u watch like 3 movies too!! I heard shes harder at higher levels but for intro she is hands down THE best! TAKE HER

Kim is my favorite teacher... She is the best. If you a sociology major and you dont take her you missing out big time....

After taking this class for a gen ed, I realized I wanted to major in soc. She was very helpful and encouraging and pretty much the reason I am a soc major. Pretty easy, clear class, I would reccomend taking a class with her.

She is truly a great person. She understands that students have a life outside of school. Very helpful. Sometimes lost control of class. If you read something about her not showing up to class, give her a break! She had cancer and is still recovering. Doesn't play favorites; it's just that students cling to her b/c she is so nice and understanding.

VERY EASY CLASS! Always cancels it! She lets use help on her tests. ALso very interesting class.

Took her theory course. Extremely easy. You do weekly writeups on the reading and she generously grades them. One ten-page paper due at the end of the semester, but we talked her down to eight. She will negotiate any assignment. Very easy, but you learn nothing. Her lectures are just random conversations. Very nice, but learned very little.

I have since transferred, took this class fresh. yr, basically convinced me to declare soc. as my major. don't know up her upper level classes, but intro was relatively easy, needed to read to do good, readings were relevant and interesting, class was always engaging. truly is the reason i am still in school, as a soc. major. THANK YOU!!

I had her TR at 8am, and i didnt mind getting up early at all. I loved her class. Class discussions are great. Midterm multiple choice (she let us use index cards, and scaled it) and final paper. I would definitely take her again.

awesome. the lectures are more like discussions, shows movies, we watched 3 in one semester. take home midterm and take home final both multiple choice and three 1 page papers. very easy and funny. definitely take her you will have fun and get a good grade

Easiest class I've ever taken. She shows award winning movies in class that have something to do with what you're studying & makes you cookies. you never use the book except for when you do the midterm & final because its take home. class is great because its just a discussion. you maybe have 3 one page papers on wicked easy relatable topics.

Super easy class. I think all of the exams were take home. A few short essays. Shows on-topic movies in class. Class discussions are fun & get easily sidetracked. She's a lot of fun.

The 5 week summer session for Social Problems was not bad at all. You needed to do an essay each week that is a minimum of 2 pages for a topic that she has selected relating to the readings/text. You also need to do the weekly discussion boards to a different topic from the readings-no tests. I would recommend her.

This class was amazing!!! she is such a good prof. and the class is fun and easy. it is mainly movies and lectures but the lectures are fun and you are apart of them. she has you buy the old book so you dont have to pay as much but the only time you usse them is for the midterm and final. we have a few papers but are short and she grades from 1-5.

Really fun teacher! We had to write 8 easy 2-page papers, only tests were the midterm and final (both take-home). We watched a lot of good documentaries and classes were mostly discussion. She gets off topic easily and missed class 3 or 4 times.

Her class is lecture styled, participation in disscusion is encouraged. She only assigns seven,easy, two page papers that are rated 1-5. The only test are the mid term and final both take home and extremly easy. She often plays interesting documentaries and has interesting guest speakers. I would definately take another class with her.

She is one of the most personable professors I've had at BSC. She makes her lectures on the material fun because they're in conversation format and she gives plenty of chances for you to give your input and participate. The class is really easy 6-7 short 2 page papers and a take home midterm and final all multiple choice. Definitely would Recommend

Easiest class I have ever taken. All you have to do is go to class and it is impossible to get anything lower than an A. She gave everyone 100's on the final two papers we had to write and told us not to bother. Take home Mid-term and Final. She let us pass in Final two weeks before class ended and we didn't have to go back. TAKE HER!

The easiest teacher everr! she is soo nice and wicked funny. The class is just like a big conversation. All the papers are 2 page opinion essays so if you do them you get an A. Take home final and midterm. TAKE HERRRR!!!

Her bark is worse than her bite. She seems like she's going to be impossible, but really, she's not. As long as you do the papers and forums, you get an A. She's a fair grader.

She is the best professor I have had here at BSU. She is fair, interesting to listen to, and overall a really nice and caring lady. Her class is discussion based which keeps you interested since it isnt a boring lecture. Take her class if you ever have the chance! You wont regret it =)

LOVE HER!! She's so nice, all we do in class is talk about how corrupt the world is, not much work and she's very flexible. Take herrr, dont listen to all the bad comments those are mostly people who took her online course, she's much stricter with online courses, she admitted it.

easiest class ever! all we did was watch you tube videos,movies and had fun class discussions. you have several assignments throughout the semester which can be taken right from the text. The midterm was open book, and our final was just to interview someone with question based off of the last chapters in the book. interesting yet easy class!

I have taken one of her classes every semester for the past 4 years (online too) All of her classes are similar and consist of discussions and watching movies (pretty easy). If you skim through the chapters you'll be fine, she usually gives essays instead of tests and cancels class a lot. Take any class with her!!

By far my favorite professor so far at BSU. Don't understand the negative comments whatsoever especially saying she grades harshly. You have to be an idiot or not try at all to get a bad grade on a paper or test. Very easy to understand/clear instructions and interesting discussions. 100% recommend anyone to take her if you can!!

I love this class. It is interesting ans she is a really good teacher, she makes the class, especially an 8 am, interesting and entertaining. Recommend taking her for any sociology class.

Mass Murder was a fun class, very interesting. Not a crazy amount of work. Didn't get bored.

She makes the class very interesting! You only have two tests, the midterm and the final. You also have two essays. Its a very easy and interesting course and Dr. MacInnis is easyfun to have disscusions with.

I love this professor! She might seem easy but it's because she teaches in ways that we can understand. Does give personal examples but only to make clear what concept she is discussing. She is very nice and works with us all of the time.

Great Teacher, good attitude but very strict about no electronics in her classroom. If she even sees your phone on your desk, she takes 5 points off your final grade. I would definitely take another class from her! There was a lot of reading involved and 3 books assigned which you will need them all.

Awesome woman!! Helpful, email her 100 times if you need. One 500 word paper on question you make up due most weeks, not as hard as you think. Posts slides on BB so you dont have to worry about notes/reading a lot. 2 tests, both take home, a week or two to work on them. 2 film analyses. She doesnt like phones out, accepts late work only sometimes

Such an awesome professor! She is the nicest woman and is a very good teacher. She cares about her students and makes sure every assignment she gives is clear and to the point. She has a no cell phone policy, but she makes class so interesting so it's not that hard to deal with. I wish that I was a soc major so I could take her again!

Kim MacInnis I took last semester and she was really cool. She lets us have conversations in class, as long as it's on the subject matter, she's down-to-earth and fun. She's also Canadian. But yeah, I took her for my Gun's in America class and I really liked her, so you should defs take her.

This professor is really there for her students. She understands we all have personal lives that get in the way of our educational plans and is kind when things come up. She states what she expects clearly and even sends reminders. We are all adults and need to put in the effort to succeed, in her classes and in life. Follow her syllabus to pass!

Dr Macinnis is a great Professor! She explains what she wants throughout her course right in her syllabus. Read it! She answers all email in a timely manner, even in our summer course. I have taken a few of her other courses and plan to take even more. Her style is unique and easy to catch on to if you actually try. She treats us like adults!

I choose this professor because of positive experiences in the past. She knows her subjects and is the chair of the soci department. Her expectations in the syllabus are clear and she expects you to read and refer back to it through the course. She is supportive and answers emails promptly. I will continue to choose her courses moving forward.

Took this class online over this past summer. Prof. MacInnis runs her online classes very well. A short quiz each week, and one reflection paper at the end of the semester. Highly recommend.

Probably one of my favorite professors I have had. Cares about kids passing her class. Do the readings and discussions, you will get an easy A. She has a no cellphone policy, but honestly you wont have time to go on your phone with all the informative videos she plays. Really great Professor.

I love Kim! I've had her at least once a year since I was a freshman. She is very compassionate and understands that we have lives and other classes. Show up, do your work and you'll be fine. She cares about her students and will be willing to work with you if you need extra time or help. I can't recommend her enough.

I took a Social problems course for Summer 2020. This course is very informative. Her syllabus is straightforward, she emails back promptly and she is willing to give helpful feedback. A book is required. It took me a while to understand what she is looking for in the discussion forum. You have to work for the grade. Overall, an awesome course!

MacInnis is a great prof- super helpful in the online format. Not too much work, one or two assignments per week. The only complaint is that the book is expensive and hard to read, and very much required to pass. She emails back quickly and a lot of the subjects are super interesting.

Dr. MacInnis is a tough professor, but like most things in life, anything good in life is worth working for. You end up learning a lot about social theory and more importantly, how to apply it to real life situations and current events. This is a writing intensive class and your write about 20-25 total pages. However, if you need extra time, ask.

I really liked Professor Maclnnis! I took her for intro to sociology and found her class to be pretty easy. She would often bring in food for the class and she's pretty funny too. You need the Broke in America book (discussion post every week), but we didnt really use the textbook. Theres one group project for the final. I'd taker her class!

Dr. McInnis runs a tight ship, but her engaging lectures and informative videos make up for the strict attendance policy. Nail the essays with the help of Unstuck ai, and you'll earn that A.

Professor Macinnis was very kind and approachable. Classes were very fun and kept my engaged. I would say that the homework was not bad. The classes were based strictly off of homework and the topics were not covered very well in entirety. The final was a half group and half individual which was fun but also hard with a 3 single spaced page final.

I loved having her this semester! The class does require a book, but she does try to keep the cost down. The lectures are based on the homework, but she does make them engaging and fun. Grades are based on only 3 quizzes and 3 papers, but the quizzes are all open book, and you are given plenty of time for the papers.
