I don't like her that much.
She is a great teacher that goes out of her way to get a point across to the class. she had side presentations that just got the class in a learning mood. GREAT TEACHER and very helpful.
Awesome teacher. Most of her content can be found in the text book. She really knows her stuff from experience which she passes on effectively. She tells you to treat the class as if it were your job, and if you do, you will do extremely well. Great class to take.
Kim is engaging, funny, interesting & her class was a delight! I thoroughly enjoyed her class and looked forward to it weekly. She relates a lot of the content in the book to real life experience. She is full of stories, tips & fun group activities. I look forward to taking more of her classes.
Strict, but reasonable. The class was lots of fun and she explains things clearly, with lots of examples. I actually retained most of what she taught because she made it interesting. The midterm and Final were a lot easier than I expected, as long as you study exactly what she tells to you. Highly recommend Kim. :)
Horrible teacher. Talks to students like they are stupid. Calls students idiots. Does not respect anyone, just thinks she is right and rants and raves all class about stupid things. DO NOT TAKE!
Good teacher. Not easy but learn a lot and she is really funny.
Kim is not a good proff at all. She thinks she is so smart and that her class is the most important class ever. Umm reality check its just a stupid 200 level class, relax. She is very rude and annoying, and has no respect for students. Do Not Take Her.
Kim is a very bad teacher. Her power points are above 30 slides a chapter, so for an exam you have to know 7 chapters - 7x30 = 210 slides you have to memorize! Are you kidding? What a joke. Shes a very bad professor and is so rude to students.I have never seen a teacher act in such a rude way. Very unprofessional, I would expect better from UFV.
Kim is a horrid teacher. She is very mean and nasty to her students. It's surprising how she doesn't think before she talks, she just blurts out whatever comes to her mind. Exams are so so but she makes the class unbearable while she thinks she is so funny and she is so important. She is not even hot and looks like an ugly Philip Seymour Hoffman.
I found Kim to be a great professor. While she is not perfect, her class was overall enjoyable! Tests were fair and laid out plainly prior. Very helpful for the BUS 100 project as well; helps you learn for yourself, rather than solely relying on her answers.
kim is extremely annoying.. she thinks students shouldn't work which is absolutely ridiculous. thinks her class has a greater importance than what it actually is. hard marker. doesn't like to accommodate anyone.. if anything she seeks pleasure in making you mad... over all very annoying to listen to talk.. don't take her!!!!
Kim is EXTREMLY smart, and well spoken, but she demands a lot from her students, a lot of the material you learn in class needs to be applied to cases on the exams. She realizes when you put in the effort and i think gives you a bit more credit for it. Her presentations are hard be prepared to get ripped apart in them but learn TONS.
Her lectures arent very useful, she is yelling the whole time, very demanding and particular about what she wants
Kim comes across as a little condescending and aggressive but she is highly intelligent and knowledgeable if you personally talk to her. She expects a lot for a 200 level class but it serves as a good segue into the upper level courses. Tests are long and difficult, but only worth 40%. Just put in the effort and you'll get a good grade.
amazing teacher
dont go
She has a wicked sense of humor, she helps you allot if you come to classes on a regular bases and she is very concerned that you show interest, She is very smart, keeps the class interesting.
Kim is an awesome teacher. Great at explaining and very straightforward in what knowledge you need to have for the tests. If you show up to class and pay attention you will easily achieve a high grade.
Kim is an excellent teacher. Her classes are lecture based, but class participation is a must, and the more the better. She is very knowledgeable, and willing to help students when necessary. Lectures are clear, and she creates fair, albeit potentially challenging tests. However if you attend class and put in effort, you will succeed.
She does try to be helpful and set a positive attitude but she expects way to much for her final project. she treats it like its a second or thrid year project it ate up a lot of my time
her standards for her final project are insane. she thinks its a third year project when its a first year. had to struggle to meet her very high standards. class is all notes and article review so its pretty boring.
not great but not bad she could be a little easier with the group project for the class
Kim expects too much from the project. Friendly with the international students
kim is insanely over the top when it comes to the final project. This is a first year course so treat it like one! She shoud really re consider why she is a teacher...
Too many assignments and homework. Over the top pointless discussion on topics she makes mistakes in fact about. EG calling the Enbridge pipline the Insite pipeline. Get another prof.
Very knowledgable but poor teaching skills. Over bearing personality
Kim has very high knowledge and understanding of the subject, she is an excellent teacher. Even though BUS 100 is an elective for me, she generated a good amount of interest for me in the subject. Her standards for the final project of a 100 level course is just a but too high. Apart from that, she is awesome.
The group project is a LOT of work, but you learn lots, not just about business but about working efficiently in a team. She can be harsh at times. She marks hard, but pushes you to do your very best, and has lots of office hours where you are free to ask ANY questions you have, no matter how silly you think they are.
Homework project is very time consuming. She's passionate about the course, however, she's very loud, and tends to talk to the class like their in grade three. Also condescending to international students. Other than that, the class is like your average survey class: pure memorization of hundreds of basic concepts. I enjoyed the class.
Tough but fair, expects a lot but work hard and her course is a breeze. Kim is very knowledgeable and her experience shows. Learned a lot, would take another course with her again.
Had Kim for BUS 100 this semester and she is awesome! The only reason anyone would have anything bad to say about her is if they are lazy, if you are willing to put in the hours then this is a great class! Otherwise don't bother. She makes you work, but she really wants everyone to succeed. Wish there were more teachers like her!!!
Kim is very knowledgeable about business and can be very helpful if you ask her for help. The one big down for her is that she has very high expectations, mostly for the big final project. She doesn't actually mark that hard, but still, her expectations are pretty high. She was funny sometimes too. If you're willing to work, she's pretty good.
She's alright, if you ask for help. She expects way to much though, and if you have a full course load the final project is a kick in the butt
very good teacher
She is knowledgeable but very annoying, actually really annoying. I advise you not to take her class
Shes a good teacher when it comes to knowledge but very demanding. She has very high expectations even though it's an intro to BUS, she makes it seem like we are in 4th year. NOT COOL. Dont wanna take her class again because of study load and high expectations. No matter how hard you try she has a negative feedback LOL
I got a B+ but still a difficult proff. Prepare for weekly online chapter quizzes based on the textbook, a one time article review, and a SUPER HARD major project! she EXPECTS TOO MUCH for a first year course and !!HEAVILY!! MARKS ALL ASSIGNMENTS. Boring b/c you learn the material by reading the chapters for the quizzes. !!DON'T TAKE IT WITH HER!!
Kim is a very hard professor, he classes are boring and hard to get through but, if you are willing to work hard you will be able to learn a lot from her. She is a very knowledgable professor.
Kim is a very boring, and hard marker... take this class if you want to commit 300% to this class. She expects way too much out of mostly first year students. Her final project is probably the biggest project you'll ever do. I do not recommend taking any class with her.
She is great in getting class discussions going and using relevant examples. if you are not detail or deadline focused you will be in big trouble!! She is tough, but very direct on expectations, which is appreciate after having a "flaky" professor. DON'T take her class if you want an easy A. YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD!!
Kim is very knowledgable and drives her students to achieve the very best. She makes BUS 100 a taxing course, but at the same time makes it a lot more interesting. As a CIS student I enjoyed the course a lot.
Avoid Her!! that is all.
She's been in e-marketing for 20+ years. Her expectation is that you have been as well.
dont take this course if you are lazy and if you are someone who does everything at the last moment
Do not take her if your not up to doing a lot of work and meeting strict deadlines. The group project was outrageous for a first year course. For exams, she gives you study guides on what to study which are extremely helpful. Her voice can be annoying as she is loud and it fluctuates in frequency. Overall, I think she is reasonable instructor.
Kim runs a very good BUS 100 class. Tougher than most 100 level courses but not unreasonable. Her lessons are very clear and informative. Tests are difficult, but shouldn't be a huge issue if you read the textbook and attend class. The group assignment is large but most of the challenge comes from coordinating a group, not the actual project.
if you do everything at last moment, dont take her class lol. she is nice as a person, but a hard marker!
She doesn't teach anything in the class. If you ask her anything, she yells it's in the outline.
I hate her. Don't ever take this professor.
From a 100-level course I didn't expect much work... but then I met Kim. Here's what you can expect: - a group project that spans the semester, for which she expects you to meet weekly - weekly readings & online quizzes up to 80 questions - additional assignments most weeks assigned on top of the rest - midterms that don't relate to readings
Kim Milnes is a very informative teacher. If you have the patience to sit through very long lectures, then take this class. Personally, I hated this class, I would always get a headache and I had to learn from the textbook. She picks favorites and singles you out. She does give awesome feedback, but I wish she explained assignments more thoroughly!
worst teacher I've ever had. doesn't wanna help you. do not take her class for first year course.
Kim is kind of a bad professor. She lacks the ability to teach and reinforce concepts herself and instead relies on peer conversation and online learning modules which you will be assigned each week. She doesn't give that much homework but the group project she assigns is Hellish So far it has been the most difficult thing i have done at UFV.
I loved Kim as a professor. While it was a tough course, it was, by far, the most interesting one I had all semester. She engages the class and actually makes you think. The group project does consist of a lot of work but it allows you to put into practice the things you are learning weekly. Can't recommend her enough!
Very tough. There is a group project, which has expected weekly things to be done. It is a very difficult project. On top of that project, she assigns many assignments. It seems she thinks she is the only class that you are taking, which definitely wasn't the case for me. She is really nice most of the time if you don't mind doing lots of work.
If you use any sort of social media, you should be able to figure this class out. Over all good content to course, however the execution of it was brutal at times. Very harsh when giving feedback. Expect to be called out during your final presentation. For a business prof, she is very unprofessional in that sense. Expect a lot of homework.
It is clear that Kim is passionate about teaching her field of business. Her class is well organized and gives many real life examples that can help you in understanding the materials for this introductory business course. Great professor.
Kim is a hard prof but makes the content really interesting. If she can see that you are trying, she will go out of her way to help you! I like that she is blunt with her recommendations and doesn't sugar coat everything..
I did not enjoy Kim as a professor. She constantly yelled at kids and made fun of them in front of the class for getting the wrong answer, and then would later contradict herself. She would pick on people and it was hard to focus on the actual content because she made things so difficult - ask for help or clarification at your own risk.
Underrated professor, she is fair and the group project helps prepare you for tougher courses, has a good sense of humour as well. Thoroughly enjoyed her class.
Kim is a great teacher but can be kinda harsh. During presentations she stopped people when they were talking + made them either start again without looking at their notes or corrected them. She also completely changed group activities that the presenters had planned. Be REALLY prepared for your presentations (2) and work hard on your group project
Does not teach. Changes her mind for how she wants things done all the time. There is way too much homework and the course is completely overloaded. I cant even keep track of half the things she is saying. I honestly wish I went on rate my prof before choosing her. I can not believe how much I dislike this course due to her "teaching" style.
WARNING: HUGE GROUP PROJECT WHICH SHE TAKES VERY SERIOUSLY. Amazingly good at teaching, learned a lot whether I wanted to or not, heavy workload, and embarrassing presentations.
Kim is someone who expects a lot for a 100 level course. That being said she clearly outlines what needs to be done and how to do it, hints can be found in the lecture material but you have to show up and pay good attention. I found the class to be extremely research heavy on top of which you can expect homework assignments and readings every week.
I personally quite enjoyed Kim. I will agree she is a difficult prof and a lot is expected, especially for a first year course. Overall though I found her lectures informative and easy to follow and found her very helpful with good feedback. Be prepared for lots of homework though.
Personally I found Kim annoying to listen to. I found the items she lectured about redundant and I got through the course without studying. She marks group work very hard and has a very large project. Work hard on that and you can sleep on everything else.
Kim has this class down pretty solid. She leads fairly engaging lectures and is able to convey the course content in an understandable way. The group project is arduous, but everything is laid out fairly straightforward, and expectations are made fairly clear. Exams are moderately challenging, but if you know the stuff you're alright.
Kim pushes her students to succeed and can sometimes come off as intimidating. A big part of this course is a group project and she sets the standard high. She clearly lays out what is required for the project as well as exams. Kim equipped me with strong feedback that I will take with me through out course of my BBA studies.
NIghtmare
This course is a very good example of the expectations you will see throughout your business degree. She lays everything out for you but you do have to work for it. Tests are not easy, but she gives you all the information you need to get a good grade on the project to help you out if you don't do great on her tests.
I love Kim's blunt, often borderline rude, personality. I think bad students deserve to be called out. However, Kim's expectations are absurd. The amount of homework she assigns each week is as if she believes her course is your only priority. Anywhere from 4-8 hours of homework each week. The midterm was easy if you study, but she marks hard.
Lectures are informative all the way through and offer a three-dimensional look at the content. Expectations are clear and reasonable. You won't like her if you're uninterested in putting in effort because she's going to call you out on it, which she should, because BUS-100 isn't a massive undertaking.
Ridiculous that she makes multiple assignments due the same day as her midterms. Would not take this professor again.
Horrible. Forced to do the BUS100 project on my own because my group dissolved, and she refused to let me help another group. Got a 94 on the project in spite of her and strongly advise that NO ONE TAKE THIS TEACHER.
Have to try hard
Not that bad once you figure her out. She is very blunt and is not afraid to call it like it is. Group project is worth a big part of your grade. The group project is where she really makes you work for it. Lots of reading. One quiz every chapter. Quizzes, midterm & final were all fairly easy compared to the massive group project.
Kim is a great professor but her expectations are just too absurd. You learn a lot from Kim in this course but only if you keep up with the amount of work she makes you do. If the homework was cut down slightly, this course would be more enjoyable. Also, ridiculous how she makes homework due during reading break. It's a reading break for a reason.
Kim is one of my favourite profs at UFV. She is very blunt and will tell you how it is but if you are actually passionate about business, you'll do amazing in her class! The content that is to be handed in can be a bit hectic at times as there is a lot of things so just be sure to double check with her if you're unsure! She's always willing to help
Good instructor but gives a lot of homework and group projects.. No excuse for late submission of projects.. Won't extend your submission at any cost.. Need to work hard in her class and be regular
Worst professor ever, never met a more insensitive person. She gives 100 of assignments which are worth nothing. She speaks for straight three hours, irritates the life out of you. She puts the toughest exams and she'll never like what you wrote if she doesn't like you as a person. I know because I have done three courses from her.
She is just perfect in her field. Gives feedback. But very tough grader. She expects too much from her students, especially for a group project.
It is clear to see this professor does not carry many interpersonal skills as she fails to recognize what might be going on in a students life. her group project is very intense and she expects a lot from you in this project. she fails to make sure each group is on task and then goes on to embarrass them in class instead of fixing it
Kim is tough but she really does want you to do well. She is very up front and will call you out if you do something wrong but she makes more of a joke out of everything. She is very funny and knows what she is doing. She does give a ton of homework though so only take her if your willing to work and show up. I do recommend her though!
she's nice &blunt, she will prepare u for future business career. 3 hours lecutres, talks the whole time. SO MUCH HOMEWORK. Not lenient on deadlines. 3 missed classesfail. Expects a lot, group project takes so much time, plus reading 2 chapters & doing 2 quizzes each week. if u are lazy and want an easy pass, don't take her its so time consuming.
Midterm & final are MC, midterm was easy, questions literally from study guide. group project homework, plus reading 2 chapter and 2 quizzes each week. Easily 5+ hours of homework. She is tough marker, but will let u redo group project submissions. She has high expectations for a 1st year course tbh. Avoid her if u want an easy A
a decent teacher but is very rude sometimes with students
Group project worth 32%. Very tough marker on it. Quizzes/midterm fairly easy if you read the textbook and are interested in it. Can be insensitive to students. Very smart. Expect A LOT of homework. Trust me don't take the group project lightly. You will learn a lot, but have to work hard for your grade. Interesting class.
don't do or say anything stupid in her class or she WILL call you out in front of everyone for it, and don't think you can slack even a little bit on the group project because she has zero problem kicking you of your group and making you do the whole thing yourself!
She is knowledgeable but could be rude and stubborn.
Kim is a tough teacher if you don't like attending/participating in class or group projects. The group project at the end of the year is huge, don't blow it off. Lots of students dislike her, but if you make an effort to ask questions or show an interest in the material you'll be fine. DO THE HOMEWORK (helps with midterms/finals immensely)
Mark is based on the group project. I did fine on the quizzes and the midterm, yet still received a mediocre grade. She grades the project way too hard for a 100-level class with little to no understanding of the groups situation. She ruined my first semester gpa and Ive been smooth sailing ever since with a 4.0 in my second semester.
She is by fair the most rude teacher I have ever had at UFV! She does not care about whats going in your life! Gives so much hw the same day! Is very very rude if you ask her a question. Super rude! SAVE YOURSELF AND DO NOT EVER EVER TAKE HER! Ruined my whole semester because of her. Hate business because of her now! Bad decision taking her !
Kim's classes were the only relevant applicable ones for my career path and she is an expert in the industry.
She is a hard teacher. You have to do a group project and she grades that much more than anything else. I am Simply failing her class because of the group project. if you did just the project and the mid-term and final you would pass the course only if you got 100% ON EVERYTHING. BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER EVER. WAY TOO MUCH HOMEWORK AND GRADES HARD.
Your whole grade basically revolves around 3 assignments. The group project is marked extremely hard for a 100 level class. She takes all mistakes that you make personally and is quite rude and blunt about them. If you do good on all assignments except the project you will do bad. Just a very weirdly layed out class where only the project matters.
Kim wasn't that bad, but she definitely makes you work for the grade tho. She makes you do quizzes each week, they can easily be found online. The midterm and final were basically the same questions from the quizzes. Most of your grade is from the group project, which sucks because if you don't have a good group, your screwed.
Kim gives a lot of homework. 2 chapters and 2 quizzes per week, a big group project, other smaller assignments on top of that, and very long video lectures once a week that seems to never end. The course covers a lot of content to the point where its overwhelming and you just try to memorize everything which is not beneficial.
Yeah so like the group project and final exams are equal weight at about 40% of your grade. Its dumb. She talks for 3 hours (online lectures) and I physically can not pay attention because it's just constant regurgitation of stuff we can read in the textbook. This class is the most unnecessary, boring, non - useful, unfun classes I've ever taken.
Kim seemed to be tough in the beginning but was a real gem. The course was a little heavy on assignments but they were easy. The Project was a major so take care of that. If you have a Bad group you are doomed.
Horrible
Kim is very work heavy, expect to do lots of reading and you will fail if you are not keeping track of her assignments as there will be a lot. She is a really sweet lady, but it is very hard work.
Heavy on homework, but it is manageable. Midterm and final is easy as long as you study. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS THE GROUP PROJECT. The project is 32% of your grade and Kim is a tough grader. SHE IS VERY RUDE WHEN IN HER FEEDBACK AND DEVOTES NONE OF HER 3 HOUR LECTURES TO EXPLAINING ABOUT THE PROJECT. IF YOU HAVE A BAD GROUP, YOU'RE SCREWED.
She is extremely rude. She isn't clear with what direction to take the course in, she just puts everything in the course and wants you to do everything for your project. She will tell you that it is a content marketing course but then ask you to make website designs and develop then it! Even after that, she is not happy. Mental exhausting!
Kim is not a good prof. The amount of homework that you receive in this class would cause the average civilian to require therapy. She marked the group project (which is worth like 35%) like a PhD dissertation. One redeeming quality of this class besides the fact that it ends: midterm and final were easy.
Kim is very knowledgeable but her course was very lecture heavy. The amount of homework assigned on top of a giant group project worth 35%, is enough to make any first year student cry themselves to sleep. I also noticed that she can be quite blunt when giving feedback and some may also consider it rude. which can be very discouraging.
Kim is making it very difficult to enjoy digital marketing and assigns way too much to manage. Many members in our class have come to a consensus that we are pretty much just trying to get through all the assignments rather than actually learning it because it's so much. Usually an A student and she is making this ROUGH.
While very knowledgeable and experienced in her field, she marks incredibly harshly and acts very petty and childish if something isn't perfect during class. The class itself feels next to pointless outside the online reading and quizzes, as the lecture is about previously completed stuff, that was due prior to being in class. Would not recommend.
I felt discouraged and belittled by Kim throughout the whole semester. She constantly picks students apart, embarrassing them in front of the class. She assigns an overwhelming amount of work and is a terribly harsh grader. I watched her cause a student to cry, she has no respect for her students and is straight up rude. Waste of money.
Overwhelming. Unclear. Complete lack of empathy and awareness for the fact that we are humans taking a university course. Students are treated like pawns in a weird chess game. She is unpredictable. Don't watch or read the weekly videos and readings - you just won't have time. I once considered digital marketing my career path. Not anymore.
awful, would never take a class with prof again. So much excessive homework and articles to read, not helpful or useful 90% of the time, just a complete waste of time. Not engaging or enjoyable in any way either.
worst class ever taken never again so garbage rather drive off a bridge then bare through another day with professor kim highly don't recommend it especially if its your first year
Worst prof ever! like lady.. this is BUS100 not that serious mission impossible Kim - blunt feedback that is not encouraging especially for first years and prepare to listen to 3 hour lectures every week..
Kim is very fair. I don't know what's up with these reviews as I was worried taking her. Her expectations are clear. She always makes time for her students. If you put the time in her class and ask for help when you need it I don't understand why you won't do good. Her midterm is easy just like the homework and quizzes. Her final was also the same.
She's extremely knowledgeable in what she teaches and teaches it well. She can be blunt with feedback but she's not rude like some of the reviews say. She marks hard but gives you the ability to fix your mistakes in each submission to earn most of the marks back. Definitely learned a lot. Midterm and final are easy if you study.
I have never been so disappointed in a class. The positive reviews on this site are clearly written by her. She is unrealistic in her homework expectations (an insane amount each week), no openness to communication, no kindness or understanding, and does not teach well at all. The lectures are 70-100+ slides long. Avoid at all costs. 0/10
This is by far the worst class I've ever been a part of. The homework load is unrealistic, you don't learn anything because you're so busy just trying to keep up with the insane workload. I'm not saying Kim writes her own reviews, I would never accuse a professor of that, but she absolutely is the type to do something like that. AVOID HER.
Not a great professor, she repeats the same lectures in class that have already been revised at home which is a waste of 3 hours per class! Also, she offered almost no help when we asked her for help which made the final project tough! Also marked the submissions for the project hard and made the final exam sort of confusing!
The workload for this class is way too much. You have to do a bunch of assignments every week, read the textbook chapters, watch her lecture videos, and work on your group project. It is way too much. However, the mid-term and final exams are not that hard if you study.
For an intro class she has way too many activities. She does weekly quizzes/questions through mindtap and each week has 11 activities. It would be impossible to do this class if you have other classes! I dropped this class in the first week because she does not look like a good professor and the workload is way too much. Take it with another prof!
Does not care at all about the student future. Marks you fail even if you excelled in different area in the course.
Kim, if you're reading this, give it up. The whole thing. Give up being a professor because it is clearly not working for either of us. I am a good person, which is why I have to leave this review. I would be doing a disservice by NOT warning your future potential students that it SUCKS here.
Too much workload each week. Readings alone take a good 3-4 hours and then added group project work as well as weekly quizzes and small activities. Wastes time with her lectures as she reviews things that we already read by ourselves and takes up 1.5 hours out of 3 hours of class time.
She contradicts herself in explaining what she wants vs when she actually marks. Not much effort is on her side other than grading things. If you are a student just starting out at UFV do not take her class.
DO NOT TAKE HER AS A FIRST YEAR!! or ever honestly, in 1 week you will have to do -read/listen to chapters -a final concept check on the pre-reading -a lecture on the preceding you just taught yourself(in-class lectures are so useless) -quizzes after class -group project flip video -1-2 hours on group project (she doesn't help you on it) it sucks
DO NOT TAKE KIMS CLASS. the amount of work she gives is impossible. she will give you hours of homework PLUS your group project. she coughs without covering her mouth...gross. she is the hardest marker ever and clearly has favourites. if u want to keep any of your sanity DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT take buss 100 with Kim!
The group project is super hard and the lectures are pointless. You basically do the entire course by yourself so there is no point in taking her.
Never ever take this professor
She don't have ethics how to teach students .As there are international students and they have very stressful life in new country because they are alone and have to pay everything by themselves then how they can pay extra money to take courses again .Kim if you are reading this you destory someones future and that's bad for you .
Kim didn't teach during class time and expected us to complete multiple assignments independently each week. It was stressful with no guidance or breaks, and the group project had an unfair impact on grades. I don't recommend taking her class. Do yourself a favour and choose any other professor over her.
Kim claims that students should be doing up to 6 hours of homework weekly for every three hour class. I ended up doing 20+ hours a week... Videos take 3 hours, textbook 3 hours, online quizzes are another hour, mindtap exercises another hour. And for the group project, no one else in my group could speak english and I did the entire thing. Brutal.
If you've already registered with Kim and it's your first semester of uni, I would advise you to drop her. If you can't, it's okay :) After she decimated my GPA in my first semester, I'm set to graduate with a 4.1 GPA and I'm here to tell you that Instructors such as Kim are not the usual! I already have a 6-figure job lined up. Don't give up guys!
Awful
Kim is fine if you're not lazy. She clearly cares a lot and is willing to go above and beyond to give her students support and constructive feedback. Her projects are so easy because she gives such detailed rubrics I genuinely don't understand how people don't do well.
She's a tough one, but she'll make a diamond out of you if you put in the work. Knowledge about her craft is her power. She's a great professor, no matter what other people say.
Awful teacher. Feedback often was confusing and was not consistent with the way she marked. Overall I advise first-year students not to take any classes with her.
I don't think she understands how rude she can be sometimes.Students pay thousands of dollars to come to school, the least a professor can do is talk to them without embarrassing them.If she was more kinder, more students would enjoy her class and not want to give up halfway. She forgets that students have lives and assigns 9-10 hours of work a week
I can tell you that Kim is far from most of the profs you'll encounter. "Tough it out motto, cause life and business is tough and I'm preparing you for it." Her class is 10x tougher than what you'll ever encounter at your job. It's been years since I've had Kim as a prof, but just remembered her after a recent grad mentioned her the other day.
*For BUS 384* This class is made far more difficult than it should be. She gives an absurd amount of weekly readings, on top of textbook readings, online courses that are 4+ hours, and assignments. The simulation for the course is full of mistakes. She seems to dislike students, which makes you wonder why she chose to be a professor.
By far the worst prof I have ever had the displeasure of working with. If you are in your first year, AVOID Kim at all costs. You'll thank me later. Kim is an exceptionally difficult marker, is outright rude and mean to her students, assigns way too much material per week, and is extremely misleading and vague in her feedback. Don't take this class
Rude, very unprofessional and an overall tool of a human being. She does not understand that students take up to 5 classes a semester and she drops 8+ hours of homework every week. She does not deserve to be a professor. NEVER TAKE HER EVER. Every other professor is better.
She was rude to anyone who didnt complete the 50+ weekly assignments. I think instead of teaching she should lose some weight and live in Pakistan or smt.
Kim's class is challenging but manageable if you stay on top of the work. She gives detailed feedback and support, but attendance is mandatory. I found Unstuck ai really helpful for preparing for the exams and projects.
Please don't take any course from her
Kim is beyond a dissapointment when it comes to learning about business, she constantly insults her students, coughs with her mouth open, and is racist towards her students. If you take this class you will be in genuine hell for 4 months of your life and will want to quit university. I only typed this out because I do not think anyone deserves it
She's a yapper and critiques literally everything you do no matter how hard you try. It's like she's looking to find the failure in your work. The content of this course is great and I learned a lot but Kim didn't make me want to learn. Also maybe hit the gym once in a while just sayin
Workload is insane, especially in the weeks leading up to the midterm. Quizzes, textbook readings, extra articles you need to read for the quizzes, a simulation, and way too many assignments. The simulation has a bunch of errors that turn it into a guessing game. She can be incredibly rude to students and makes the class harder than it should be.
She yaps a lot, is condescending (calling students smartasses for pointing out contradictions), and coughs with her mouth open, disrupting class and spreading germs. Assigns excessive homework—up to 20+ hours. When I mentioned I was doing the work of 3 group members for project, she blamed it on me.
If you are wanting to take a BUS class DO NOT take it with Kim!! Her lectures were long and boring. The class was basically one huge group project with required group meetings every week outside of class time and the grading was SO TOUGH. You can never do anything right in Kims eyes. EVER! She will make your semester feel like 3.I DO NOT recommend
Kim gets rated unfairly. Although there's a ton of homework, she's fair and the class is made interesting. Most bad rates are the lazy students who don't have work ethic. You'll learn a lot from her if you show up and pay attention. Most assignments actually help remember the course details. (I agree she writes her own reviews btw lol)
I was not excited to take this class from the ratings, but she is truly understands and can teach a business class. It is true that the course load is heavy but it is manageable. You will definitely have to put in the work for your grades. The worst part is that the group project is the largest chunk of your grade, but that's BUS100 for ya.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER she gives out beyond the normal amount of homework and is consistently rude and not helpful to people who ask questions
Lots of work, and she is rude when you ask for assistance.
Awful, rude and expects too much of students in a group project setting. Would avoid if you can.
Lectures are boring and she gives too much homework.
Kim was the worst prof I have ever had.She would start every class with a rant. She would forget to open reading for the class and then get mad at the class for not reading them. For our final presentation she got our time wrong and sent me an email saying we were off to a bad start. She later apologized for b/c she was wrong. Dont take this class
Kim may seem intimidating, but she is a very understanding and caring prof. I would highly recommend taking her class.
She gives very detailed feedback, especially feedback on how to improve reference formatting. Class participation was very easy, participate every so often and you'll get 100%. Don't be lazy, you'll do great. She tries her best to make lectures interesting. The issue isn't her, it's the course. Insane group project criteria for an entry level class
Why is she still teaching
How can a student get As on all the exams, assignments, quizzes, yet still get a C+ in the course? That's Kim for you. She gives negative marks for the project proposals too, so by her flawed logic it's better to not hand anything in. Anyways, graded with distinction and have a job in the software industry that will probably pay more than hers.
Worst professor or i should say karen
I remember she made me cry on my first day of uni ever back in 2023 because of how strict and mean she was to her students. Never dropped a class faster. Would not recommend - you'll cry.
Attitude problem Thinks she's on top of everyone gets annoyed by the smallest things and makes it seem like your still in secondary school Not worth the 146,562k she is making - everything she teaches is pretty basic but she makes it seem like its rocket science
The professor is extremely rude and dismissive, showing little to no consideration for students. She does not offer help or guidance when asked and expects everyone to manage a group project all semester with no accommodations. Lectures are boring and unengaging, and grading is very harsh. Overall, it's a frustrating and stressful class experience.
Absolutely Terrible. Avoid at all costs. Acts like her class is the only thing you're doing the whole semester. She was so hypocritical in multiple scenarios. Have to meet outside class every week for group project. Just hope you end up with good group members. Only positive from the whole course is that she responds to emails quickly.
from my experience, heavily graded on Projects and tests
Dont take this class doesnt feel like a first year course alot of homework heavy on group projects and tests. Lectures are very long and boring. Teacher is very rude and not understanding she thinks that you dont have any other priorities. Overall not the best experience wouldnt recommend taking this class again.
Exams are very difficult. The material itself isn't hard, but it's taught in a way that makes it feel more complicated. The group project requires 8-12 hrs a week so be prepared for that. Teaching style can feel strict. Responds quickly to emails.
At the start of the semester, I was worried about this class because of previous ratings, but by the end it wasnt that bad. You do need to study weekly. She's a tough maker early on, but after the midterm she gives room to improve and support you. If you do avg on the midterm and group project, the final matters less. Very responsive to emails
Overall, a difficult class and this professor has tough expectations. Majority of the course consists of a semester-long group project. Despite this, she provides good feedback on your assignments and is helpful when you need it. Criteria for both the midterm and final were given. A hard professor but if you put in the work, you'll do great.
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! she is not a normal person. will scold you in fornt of the whole class
she has the most boring lectures and will add a lot of unnecessary stress to your life. do yourself a favour and take another instructor or you will regret big time.
