Kim is a great teacher, tells hilarious stories, and is rather outspoken.
Very clear and easy to understand, but course was really hard. She is really funny and really knowledgeble about her course. Take her class!
The class material is not that difficult, but her tests are. No matter how hard i have studied i have not gotten above a D, and i am a psych major!
She's a really fun teacher, but you have to be willing to put in the work. Her tests are detailed but no where near impossible...use the study guides! I have gotten two A's from her, so it can be done! And, trust me, i am no genius.
She was a very fast speaker, so if you are good at taking a ton of notes, this is for you. She was funny, and her tests weren't bad.
LOVED the class and professor, but you HAVE to pay attention AND take extremely detailed notes in order to do well on tests (the only thing you are actually graded on.) Quiz section covers material that class doesn't, making them pretty much mandatory. But Norden is a GREAT teacher--hilarious! Best big-lecture class.
I loved her class, she was very funny and her lectures were very interesting. However, she goes fast and you have to take a TON of notes. 4 exams make up your grade, no final. First 2 tests are pretty hard. Second 2 are easier. 15 pts. of extra credit are possible and pretty necessary to get a good grade.
Attendance is only mandatory cuz if you miss notes you're screwed. You gotta pay attention and read the book, but it really is not that hard if you put the time into it. The second test is the hardest by far, but then the 3rd is easier. Extra credit helps- max 15 points. Just pay attention and you'll be fine cuz she is so funny and interesting!
she was awful
Norden is definitely my favorite teacher I've had at Marquette thus far. She is funny and very interesting. I actually enjoyed going to class every day. As long as you go to lecture and discussion, read the book , and spend a decent amount of time studying you should do fine. No hw or papers, just read the chapters. : ) *Easy extra Credit too!
She was interesting, but the tests were difficult. I studied fot three days straight for the final, getting no sleep the night before and I still didn't do great.
go to class...tests are hard
She is hilarious! The tests are moderately hard but if you pay attention in lecture the studying will be a lot easier. No homework or papers. You really don't have to do the reading because her outlines are so straightfoward.
I like her lecture classes.Gives good exmaples. Grade based on 4 tests plus either a extra credit paper or studies that you can participate in.
It was a hard class, but you gained so much from her lectures. I am a psych major and i remember everything she taught. Its better to read the book cause the tests are hard, but even though i got a c, im still taking her next semester for another class.
Take good notes and study a lot before it's time for the tests, because they are soooo hard!
If you go to lecture and discussion, it should be fairly easy and also browsing the book is recommended, but not intensly. Overall enjoyable... until the test s come!
Dr. Norden is very clear. As long as you read the textbook and go to class, you will do good. However, discussion is helpful and it is crucial to study at least a couple days before the exam. If you do this, the tests will not be as difficult. Also, take advantage of the EASY extra credit that she offers!
She is an interesting woman, but attendance is mandatory. She speaks really fast and she covers a lot of material. Discussion is also mandatory since 12% of her exams come from discussion. Her exams are hard only if memorization is not your strong point. The book website is really helpful.
Helpful if you take advantage of her office hours. Tests require thorough memorization and with only 4 tests making up the final grade, there is no room for error. She does not curve but extra credit is available.
Seriously--this class is really organized more than any other college class. She's very straightforward and as long as you memorize all you need to know, READ for class at least some of the time, and read the 'book sections' for the test, you will be fine. Excellent--and really entertaining class. She talks about her kids a lot :)
Dr. Norden is one of the best. She is crystal clear on every topic. The tests are hard if you are not a science or psychology major. If you are trust me it will be an easy A with about 2-3 hours of studying before the test. Discussions are helpful, but you can skip them most of what is talked about in discussion is from the book. Great class!
Dr. Norden is a great prof--her classes are interesting, and really well-organized. She gives awesome examples that really help you to grasp the material. Her tests are pretty easy if you take careful notes in lecture and go through the chapters in the book once or twice. The class is about learning the material, and not about tricking you.
For all of the negative comments about her tests, I found them rather easy. Just memorize everything and that is it. Extra credit is very helpful.
the book is not necessary, but some find it helpful. Towards the later tests, she likes to put questions from the movies on the exams. its no nescessary to go to class though. if you study your notes, you should be fine
she expects way too much and has unrealistic standards
She sticks to what she teaches. it isn't that intellectual developing though. It's facts for facts sake. 3 tests she takes the best 2 , final and 2 short papers on personality
I love her, she is organized, professional and punctual. I have taken her for other classes, and her anecdotes can become redundant. BUT the repitition helps you recall the information she teaches.
Dr. Norden is unique in her style but she is a really good teacher and you will do well in her class if you attend class and take good notes
one of my favorite professors so far. if you read the chapters each week, and go to class and take notes, you can just review your notes the day before the test and do really well. grade is based on 4 exams and once a week 2-page writing assignments. everything is really straight-forward and she's a really interesting professor. i love this class!
Her class was very straightforward, and the way she teaches is very organized with powerpoints. There is a study guide for each test that tells you what specific pages you need to read from the book. Pretty easy class, interesting stuff, and she is funny (but kind of weird/awkward in person and not very helpful). Not amazing, but a good class.
Good teacher. She takes a lot of material from the book. It's not mandatory to go to class but a lot of what she goes over in class is on the tests.
With Dr. Norden, it's easy to figure out what you're supposed to know for the tests--Just read your book and take notes in class. I'd recommend going because she sometimes uses her in-class examples as questions on the tests. Also, I always found her lectures engaging and they went by quickly.
If you have the option of taking Norden or another psych teacher, take Norden. Hands down the best teacher I've ever had. Classes are interesting and fun, you don't really need to read the book, although it wouldn't hurt, and tests are fair.
She is really interesting to listen to during lecture and she makes sure that her examples make sense. There are a lot of video clips used during lecture as well. Overall, a really good teacher with a good sense of what she wants her students to know.
No homework only four tests for the grade. Lectures are interesting with good examples.
great professor. her lectures are awesome. test are hard. be prepared to study. if you study and do it right, you can do well. only 4 tests and some extra credit. take it, she is great. but no blow off.
Hard exams, interesting lectures.
Dr. Norden is one of the best teachers I've had. She not only strives to make the material interesting and easy to understand, but is incredibly concise in her lectures. She manages her time extremely well. Lecture is never rushed. Requirements are clear from the beginning. Tests are completely doable. Anyone who intends to try at all will do fine.
took her for personality and loved it! shes hilarious, fair, organized, and gives lots of good examples. yes, you need to study a good amount because you will have a lot of notes (i recommend typing them) but i learned a lot from her. i definitely recommend her. 4 tests, 2 short papers.
Dr. Norden is awesome! She is very concise and straight forward. Her exams are also fact based, not application based, so if you study, it is easy to do well. Definitely recommend her. Best teacher I've had so far at MU.
Her entire class was lecture. if you missed one class, you'd be really behind. She doesnt post lectures online and her exams were super tough. Everything was applied material and a bit tricky also
I took her Abnormal Psych class and I loved it! She is entertaining and her explanations are very clear. You have to go to class to do well on the tests, but the lectures are interesting so you really don't want to skip. I didn't think the tests were that hard- pretty straight forward as long as you study. Reading the book before lecture helps too.
My favorite professor and class this semester! Go to the interesting lectures and take notes and there will be hardly any outside work for you. She gives book only reviews before the exam so it is only necessary to read those sections. She also gives 10 points of extra credit. Your final grade is equally divided between 4 unit tests, no final.
She was a very good professor. You did not have to read the book if you took good notes- she will provide you with a book-only review guide that tells you exactly what from the book she will test you on. Her exams are easy-the questions are all situational-so know your terms
She is so down to earth. She gives examples of the more difficult concepts in class and expects you to memorize and use them on her exams. She gives extra credit which a freakin awesome bonus. Take the class!
You have to attend lecture because she does not post powerpoints online. You should do the readings because there IS book material on exams that she does not cover in class. Exams are very challenging and have a lot of application questions.
Norden is definitely the best psych teacher. No matter who you take, the class is going to be hard. The first two tests are brutal but don't just drop out because it gets better. She doesn't take attendance at lecture but if you have any luck at passing the test you have to go. Reading the book is important too. No final exam!
Awesome teacher, pretty interesting as she tells stories that pertain to lecture. Offers opportunities for extra credit, exams are somewhat easy as long as you put in the effort and attend class.
Exams are easy as long as you read the book and attend lecture. You have to do 2/3 papers which are pretty hard and final is cumulative.
multiple choice unit exams, extra credit option, lectures are great. Most of what is on the exam is covered in lecture, not mandatory to go but its helpful to attend.
Not that hard of a class. I didn't read the book except for the book only list that she puts online a week before the exam, and did well on the exams. Don't need to go to class, but I thought necessary to do well in class. Very intersting and good professor.
Very tough grader. Expectations are fairly unrealistic and the syllabus is misleading. She makes it sound like the required paper is easy to do well on, and if you turn it in you'll get an A, but then the class average is an 80.
I like her class; I'm a Psych major so yea. She has an interesting story to go with every other study. Her second test is notoriously hard, she uses more of the book on it. 4 exams, class not mandatory, but one should go. I like her. 50 MC test so no room to mess up though.
Dr. Nordan is a very engaging professor, by far my best professor here at Marquette! For 1001 read the text book because her tests are difficult if you do not study, but her lectures are very interesting and if you give effort you will recieve a good grade. If youre a psych major I would especially recommend her.
Great teacher however the exams are hard if you dont attend class or study for the exams. 4 Exams and 2 short papers, no option for extra credit.
By far one of my favorite classes this semester & I'm not even a psych major. I'm upset that it's over. The class has 4 unit exams and 2 short papers, but make sure you study because even though the topics seem like common sense, the exams are difficult. Class isn't mandatory, but Norden doesn't post her powerpoints and you miss A LOT if you skip.
Awesome teacher! Very interesting and good at explaining the material. Be sure that you actually go to class and pay attention to the videos and her book-only reviews.
Very interesting teacher and class. Attend all her classes because all lecture material is fair game for tests. Loved the class, however, the tests are difficult and required a lot of effort and studying. Otherwise the class does not require a lot of other work.
Honestly this is the best teacher I've had at Marquette so far. She is hilarious in lecture, and actually makes you want to attend class. The tests are fairly easy IF you put in the work studying. If you don't study, are lazy, and don't want to attend class, not the teacher for you. For everyone else, I highly recommend her, she's the best!!!
She is a great teacher. The course is fairly easy if you attend class and do the short papers. Her exams are hard, but that is normal for one of her classes. One of my favorite teachers at MU.
Dr. Norden is one of my favorite professors at Marquette. I took her for Theories of Personality. Class is very organized and if you spend a lot of time studying, tests are no problem. I would definitely recommend her! Very funny too.
Dr. Norden is amazing! She is so clear, funny, and easy to get along with. Although her class is at 9am it is definitely worth it! She doesn't take attendance but it is worth it to go to class, if not then read all of the book and go to review sessions for tests. Easy extra credit option. Pretty hard to receive less than a C in the course.
she is very knowledgable and funny. she made coming to class enjoyable. i was a freshman taking this class with mostly juniors and seniors and got a B. difficult but very interesting class
Norden is a great professor, but her psych1001 class that i took is based off of 4 multipleChoice Exams that makes up 100% of your grade. if you fail 1exam, the highest you can get is a BC [and thats IF you A'ce the last 3 exams.] she offers easy extra credit but that didnt help me much...
This is a great class, but unbelievably hard for an intro class. Norden is a fantastic teacher, and keeps class interesting, but like I said, the class is tough. Based on 4 tests and 10 points of research, you have to do well on the tests. No mandatory attendance but you essentially have to go and read the textbook if you want a decent grade.
Really interesting class and she's a good teacher but her exams are really difficult.
Awesome class, and great instructor.. Her intro course was tough, but this course was great and tough. kept me motivated. Life application was extremely helpful.
I really enjoyed this class but it took a little while to get used to it. Eventually, I found that the website with practice quizzes you puts in the syllabus is EXTREMELY helpful because you can see what her questions will be like and some are taken straight from there so the best advice I can give future students: USE THOSE QUIZZES
You need to put a lot of work into this class. If you mess up one test, kiss your grade goodbye. Her MC tests & short answer are not always clear cut and when you go in to talk to her, there is only one answer...no matter how you word it. She's a know-it-all and not very helpful/caring to her students. Should be a 1st/2nd priority class to do well
I loved psych 1001 with Norden. She is straight forward and makes the class laugh. There are only 4 test, no cumulative final, and options for extra credit. Attend her review sessions, they clearly point out what will be on the test. 70% of the test is lectures so you should go, but it is not factored into your grade. She is also willing to help.
Dr. Norden is really clear and basically tells you what is going to be on the tests so as long as you take good notes and read the book you'll do fine.
I took PSYC 3501 and 3201 with Dr. Norden. Her tests are pretty tough mostly because of the time constraints, but as long as you KNOW the facts from the notes and the select readings you will do fine. She will usually pick her short answers on the exams from days when there is a low attendance rate, so you choose whether you go or not.
STRONGLY RECOMMEND. One of the best professors I've ever had. Her lectures are really interesting & makes me wish attendance was mandatory so I wouldn't feel tempted to skip. The tests are easy if you study, I would recommend two days in advance bc it's a lot of info, but if you're ok with memorizing, you'll get an A for sure.
Comes off intimidating but actually can be funny and has super interesting lectures. Would definitely recommend
Not going to lie, I was terrified of her on the first day of PSYCH 1001, but after a while you realize that she is very funny and is a typical, difficult college professor. If you do not study for her tests, you will not pass the class, though. Overall, she is very funny and makes the class interesting.
Dr. Norden is tough, but an amazing teacher. Get ready to work hard, learn a lot, and STUDY! I actually did not mind the work because she makes the material really interesting during class. I respect her and will definitely take one of her classes again.
Her lectures are very clear and she uses great relatable examples to clarify points. She assigns readings, but all you really have to do to pass is pay attention to her lectures (which isn't hard at all) and read the "Book-Only" sections she points out. Study well for the tests and you'll get a fair grade. Best professor I've had so far, take her!!
Such an awesome professor and speaker. Would 1000% recommend. The class is really difficult and the tests can be hard. The lectures are so interesting and anyone in her class needs to do the extra credit. Would definitely take her class again!
The most interesting and entertaining class of the semester. There are review sessions before every test that give you practice questions that may show up on the test and a non cumulative final. All in all glad I took this class because i learned a lot of valuable info. Tests are fine if you study your notes and book notes.
Dr. Norden is an awesome professor. Class was super easy if you memorized the notes and read the book. Quizzes are annoying because you only have 10 minutes for 10 questions but they aren't worth that much of the grade. Easy extra credit by just participating in research. Easy A, would recommend!
Everything she wants you to know for the test is in lectures or on the book only section. You need to read the textbook but only the book only sections. Occasional question from lecture/videos so come to class. Doing all the extra credit bumped me fro an AB to an A as promised.
Great lecturer. Provides many examples, research data, and videos in class to really nail home the material. Holds study sessions before each exam to go over stuff that was missed in lecture. Gives extra credit through research opportunities that can raise your grade by a half letter (GOLD). Very fair, would take a class with her again.
She's a great teacher because she is very clear. She talks about her husband and kids 9 days out of the week but there's only a few exams for the class (which, if you study, you should do fine) and research participation points, plus extra credit (easiest thing ever to do). Although she can come off a little strong, she is there for you. Recommend.
Norden is a great teacher! On top of interesting lectures filled with videos and stories, she gives you extra credit that can boost your grade a lot. The tests are fair and the final is not cumulative! Would definitely recommend taking her for any psych course.
She is one of the best professors I have ever had! She includes videos about different psych studies during her lectures which make class more enjoyable. Her tests include questions about videos watched in class and she doesn't post any of her power points online so you must go to class and pay attention. Loved this class!
I definitely had to put the work in to get A's on exams. READ THE BOOK ONLY. Compare notes with friends in the class. She grades papers very precisely so follow the rubric like your life depends on it.
Class is super easy. Study notes EXACTLY how she has them on lecture, because if you don't tests may be hard. 15 extra credit points just do them all and it should give you some buffer to ensure an A. Norden is funny in class and has strait forward lectures. Easiest and best Psych 1001. Definitely take
She is absolutely amazing! I am going to be taking another couple of classes taught by her. She is funny and can make the material very interesting with a lot of great analogies and stories to go along with topics. the book is used. take book notes they will help. She makes me want to go to class!
Great lecturer, always gives great examples and stories. Best advice would be to study the notes as you are given them, rather than cram a few days before. Only 5 quizzes and 4 exams (including the final which is not cumulative!!!)
I LOVE NORDEN. She is easily my favorite teacher at Marquette. Go to lectures, take notes, and read book-only, and you are set! She gives examples for everything, which makes it relatable. I really love her class!
Great professor but go to all, ALL, of the lectures.
Great psych professor. You could choose to not go to any of the lectures, but she teaches the material really well and I'd recommend you go. Foe points, it's generally made up of four exams, 15 research points, a couple online quizzes, and some extra credit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKE HER
Seems very intimidating, however is a great professor; very clear on what is expected. Her exams are all application and lecture based. Don't forget to do the book only!
Although she doesn't take attendance, most of the information on the exams comes from her lectures, so make sure to go! She does have "book only" questions on the exams, but she'll give a study guide for those a week before the day of the exam. There are two 1-2 page papers each unit, but she only grades one even though you have to turn both in.
Gives good lectures but difficult tests. Read the book and pay attention. Show up to class and take notes. Worth it
good lecturer, but very difficult tests. She's very interesting and low-key hilarious. She uses personal experiences to help make the material relatable. Read the book and take good notes. The studies she makes you do are very interesting, and allow for extra credit.
I read reviews on here previously how she is an amazing teacher... I wanted to review her to help people out. I am not a fan of Dr. Norden. She is very stiff, and kind of scary honestly. I would study for hours for her tests and get a mediocre grade. Lectures are mandatory, as she puts questions on her test about things she mentions in class.
Norden is awesome. Social psych was a great class & every college student could learn something from it. 4 exams/2 papers. She has clear grading criteria and gives you everything you need to know for the exams. It's hard NOT to pay attention in lecture because she's so interesting and is such an expert. Gives tons of examples to understand material
She made me understand psych. Her tests are easy if you payed attention or read the book.
Dr. Norden is the worst professor I have had so far during my time at Marquette. Lectures are boring and then tests seem easy, but when the grades come back, they are awful. She does not seem like she wants students to do well in her class. Seems like she wants to make the point that psych isnt common sense by making tests hard as possible.
Dr. Norden is intimidating, but she has a good heart. I've taken 5 classes with her & never gotten below a B. If you appreciate structure in lectures and expectations, she's the one for you as she's definitely a creature of habit. You'll have to take good notes during lecture & read PART of the book, but exams aren't bad. 10/10 MY FAV PROF AT MU!!!
I LOVED Dr. Norden! She is hilarious and her lectures are very structured. She uses real life experience and examples to make the material relateable. Attendance is not mandatory, but 70% of the material on the exams come from lecture. Overall, I would 10/10 recommend and I am looking to take another one of her courses in the future!!
She is amazing. Kinda intimidating at first but she really is just an awesome, badass lady! Tests were not hard as long as you go to class and study your material. She also offers extra credit throughout the semester that can guarantee your grade to improve an entire letter grade. Probably my favorite professor I've had
Dr. Norden is hilarious. The content of the class was already interesting and Dr. Norden made the course even better with her examples and sense of humor. Her lectures are extremely organized and I knew exactly what I was supposed to get out of each one. Honestly, it was my favorite class of the semester and lead me to switch to a psyc major
I had her for Theories of personality. By far my favorite professor! There are 5 exams, 3 papers (4 pages) and an optional extra credit paper (2 pgs). Her class is all lectures, but she is so hilarious the class is so interesting. If you take good notes and study them you will do well on exams.
She's a great lecturer and is very knowledgeable. Her class isn't easy, you definitely have to study. Although the class was difficult, it was easily my favorite class of the semester. She's funny and very relatable to her students. Take advantage of the extra credit she gives.
She seems intimidating at first but is really a nice and funny individual. Keeps lectures interesting by breaking them up with videos and examples. Her tests were straight-forward and not trying to trick students. The only things you have to read from the book are things that she outlines to read in "book only notes." Great class definitely take
Norden was by far my favorite professor. She has very organized lectures and is very funny. Tests cover a lot of information, but if you are willing to study, not difficult to get an A. She offers extra credit which is very helpful. I learned a lot in this class. Would recommend!!
Dr. Norden is a great professor that makes lecture interesting. She expects a lot of her students but if you work for what you want, you will get a good grade. Study hard for the tests because they are not always easy.
lectures were very interesting and she does of good job of keeping her students engaged. Seems like she really cares about the content and cares about her students. Extra credit is given, and is easy to do. Wish she curved though. Don't go into it thinking you'll do well because its Psychology 1001. Is difficult and the content needs to be studied
The actual G.O.A.T. of psych teachers.
A great teacher, Dr. Norden is able to teach a lot of dense material in an organized way in her lectures. However, you do have to work for your grade and I would recommend not skipping class.
Dr. Norden is great! By far my favorite professor at Marquette. She keeps her lectures interesting and tells a lot of funny stories that can help you connect to the material you learn. Definitely go to lecture because she doesn't post any lectures online. If you study her notes and read the selected parts of the book you will do great.
Dr. Norden is a great professor and lectures are always clear. You know what you need to know for tests and doesn't give you lot of extra stuff you don'g need to know. The tests are hard and require a lot of studying especially because there are short answer questions. There is no extra credit for this class. Really interesting material though!
Clear and to the point. Lectures move quick but her anecdotes are hilarious and you never get bored. She is very explicit in teaching and explains until you are not confused. Very straightforward and if you go to class and do the work, tests are straightforward. Study and you get an A. Have taken 2 classes with her now and hope to take more.
This lady is actually a psych god. She's one of those people who you know is a genius in her field, but can still teach to others so clearly and effectively. Her tests are very straightforward, and if you pay attention in class and study outside of class, you will know everything on the test, no tricks. She is also freaking hilarious.
Norden is a great professor. Her lectures are clear and easy to follow. She really wants everyone to do well in her class. Her exams are content-heavy, but if you study all of the notes from the lectures you will do fine. Do not forget to study the book notes too, they are 30% of the exam. Attendance is not required, but I highly reccomended going.
Dr. Norden has a fantastic personality. She's super fun, really funny, but coming from a standpoint of a student who has already taken more than one introductory course, she is FAR more demanding than worth taking. The workload IS manageable, but there are other psych teachers that teach PSYC 1001 that are so much easier.
She is not in it to trick the students at all. If you go to each class and write down her powerpoint and examples you will be fine. Her tests are all her powerpoint and book notes. Full units can be around 15 pages of notes so study as she teaches so you don't have to cram at the end.
I did not find Dr. Norden amusing. She taught from anecdotes but a lot of them were not very appropriate and made me very uncomfortable. Not very approachable either. Acted to give an intimidating persona.
Dr. Norden is an amazing professors. She always finds a way to make her lectures interesting and funny. However, if you skip these lectures, you will not pass. Her tests are 70% based on the lectures, and she does not post them online. The other 30% is based on book only information that you have to read yourself. I would recommend her.
People will say not to take Dr. Norden because her class is hard but it is not. As long as you show up and take notes, do the book notes, and follow her instructions you will do just fine!! I have taken 3 classes with her and am hoping to take a 4th because I think she is such a good professor. She's very passionate about psychology and teaching.
Amazing! Her classes fill up super fast as she is a very popular professor. Her lectures are funny and informative. I've taken her for a few classes now, and she never disappoints. Her rubrics are clear and easy to read. Just do the work, the assignments are all self explainatory and you will do well. Best professor I've ever had.
Norden is a great professor. She really knows what she is doing. The only thing I do not like is that she isn't reasonable with certain situations. I told her when I got COVID that I was struggling and all she did was say ok just keep up with work. Make sure to watch the videos she gives you, they are on the exams.
Dr. Norden is very demanding but her class management and planning are excellent. She is also very humorous. I do like to point out, though, that her online class has a lot of assignments. Repeating the same procedure of reading, lecturing, and testing over and over again could be tiring, especially approaching the end of the semester.
Dr. Norden is a very good professor. She likes to have fun in her classes and she is really funny. You do have to work for her class though. Questions from the textbook will be on the quizzes and you have to keep up with deadlines. It isn't difficult if you put the effort in.
I took professor Norden for an online class. This class was pretty straight forward and simple if you did your work. There were quizzes every week and lengthy lectures 3 times a week. Norden kept the class very interesting which is difficult to do during COVID.
Professor is more than willing to bash republicans and their ideology. (Do with that as you please.) Quiz/test just about every 10-14 days. Half the material you have to learn on your own. She won't learn your name. Extra credit is available. Easy class to pass, but would not recommend if you're looking for an easy A or B.
Professor Norden is definitely one of the best professors I have had in college. I am currently raking PSYC 3401 and she has clear guidelines for what is on her tests, and her lectures are interesting, very informative, and you can tell she knows her stuff. She is also hilarious and passionate. Amazing experience with her.
Dr. Norden was a super nice woman, I enjoyed her class for the most part. Extremely important to pay attention to the lectures in class and review the powerpoints and extra mini-lectures outside of class, as well as read. you'll have multiple tests and quizzes as well as other assignments, so get ready to work. Nice prof, just lots of hard work.
Dr. Norden is a phenomenal professor that made class really enjoyable. She is extremely organized with what she expects with grading and assignments, and even creates a really handy checklist for each unit. The quizzes do go by quickly, 30 min for 30 questions, but if you study youll be fine. There is an opportunity for extra credit as well!
Professor Norden is hilarious and intriguing. I really enjoyed the material, and how she teaches it. The quizzes can be difficult since you are left to learn half the material on your own, but if you study you should be fine. Overall, I really liked her, and her class was a great way to start the morning. She's super funny, and enthusiastic.
Probably the worst professor I have ever taken. Exams seem easy, but ends up with failing grades. I even read and attend every class..
Highly recommend! Lectures every class but shes funny and entertaining so its not boring. All tests are online and you do them on your own time so super easy. All assignments are also really short and easy. Attendance isnt mandatory but needed in order to do well on quizzes
Professor Norden is hilarious, which makes her lectures more enjoyable, but the material itself is a lot. Her lectures throw so much information at you at such a quick speed that it's very easy to fall behind or not do well on tests.
I really like professor Norden. She is your typical college professor but she makes lectures interesting, she's funny, and she is very passionate about what she teaches. There is a lot of notes to take in lecture but as long as you keep up you will be fine, quizzes are online which is nice. She can be intimidating at first but she really does care
Dr. Norden is by far my favorite teacher this year. She inputs her own personal stories to the lecture (which are usually funny and entertaining). You should go to class to get lecture notes because she does not post them on D2L. You can use these on the quizzes which are bi-weekly and easy if you know what you're doing. Do the assignments!
Dr. Norden is a good professor but her class is somewhat difficult. You have many quizzes, which she does not curve and even though they are manageable, lots of the questions are hard and are concepts that we did not go over. We also have papers, which are assignment and research, which is easy. She is a very funny professor who makes class fun!!
Dr. Norden really knows her stuff and on top of that, she is hilarious during the lectures. If you get all of the points you need for the class and do well on the weekly quizzes, then it should be an easy A. I really recommend taking a course with Dr. Norden!
Dr. Norden's Abnormal class was challenging, but once you figure out a study pattern, you should be able to do well. Don't skip lectures and actually read the book. It's a lot of material but interesting material.
I am very split in my opinion of Kim Nordon. First off, Her class is very interesting and the lectures are anything but dry. With that being said, She genuinely has the largest napoleon complex I've ever seen, there is almost no level of mutual respect with her students. also, MC quiz questions are very subjective in an objective format.
Save your mental energy and skip this professor. Her class and exams are unnecessarily hard. Her word choice to comment on students tests and papers conveys that we are all dumb to her. 3101 also has 5 papers and 5 exams which is something to be conscious of. I took this for my minor and studied it more than my major's exams.
I will be honest and say that I took this class as a senior and imagining it to be like any other 1000 level course. This class was definitely challenging. Attendance is not required, however, I would recommend attending anyways. Her lectures are anything but dry and she really knows how to keep a class engaged. Finally, the book will be used.
First off, this class is overall really easy. The homework takes less than 15 mins (this is coming from someone who usually takes a long time to do hw) and you only have to do 7 assignments. There are about 7 online quizzes (all open note, but must be done in 30 mins) and the quizzes are pretty much every other week. Take norden!!!
Dr. Norden's lectures are entertaining and she's funny. There are 7 module quizzes, 10 written assignments (research participation counts for some of these) and opportunity for extra credit. She does not post her lectures, so go to lecture. Sometimes quizzes were a time crunch, like 30 minutes for 35 questions. Overall, easy class and good teacher.
You'll learn a lot but will also have your work cut out for you. 4 exams, 3 papers, cum. final. Grading is tough- short answers can't just be right, need great detail for full credit. Some points I lost felt a bit too specific for an undergrad to know. Same idea with papers. Kinda boring lectures. Worthwhile and interesting class but not an easy A.
I sat in the front row and watched how she spoke to her students every day. Wow. She has no respect for students. I am appalled at how mean she is.
Has zero respect for her students and has the worst god complex ive ever seen. Never gives positive feedback, even on A assignments. Accused an entire class of using AI and a citation generator and left a D2L announcement about her "pitiful laughing at our poor attempt". Expect papers to be graded like it's your doctoral thesis dissertation defense
Spring 2022 Dr. Norden is an interactive professor and I always appreciated her energy. You need the online textbook to do well on the quizzes, and coming to the lecture is a must to do well on assignments and quizzes (she doesn't post slides online) Quizzes are a time crunch so be ready. Overall, I enjoyed her. There's extra credit too! Justice
Dr. Norden, while harsh on occasion, is very funny and incredibly intelligent. She prides herself on her organizational skills and it shows; the class format is very easy to follow and the syllabus contains everything that you will need for the whole semester. Tip: participate in research studies if given the chance.
1. she is a good professor 2. quizzes are easy if you study the lecture material, although they accumulate more questions as the semester progresses while maintaining the initial time constraint 3. this class is an easy A and you can get 2% extra credit just by doing a super simple 2-page essay 4. yells at you if you are on your phone lol
she's overall good, but hard class
Dr. Norden is a great prof and has a clear criteria to follow. Attendence is mandatory for her so she'll take it during every lecture. Genuinely cares for her students' success and has her funny moments. Large lecture class and textbook is required for some quiz answers. You should pass easily if you just stay on top of your work and take notes.
Kim Norden is very intelligent and an awesome professor. She is so organized and gives clear expectations, and there are never really any surprises on her tests. Overall I loved her.
