Best teacher ever!! Honestly cares about helping students. Super funny.
Best teacher ever. Takeeee herr!!
Kim is a great teacher! The class is not easy, but your writing will improve. Take her!
Kim ROCKS! I learned so much; moreover, I had fun! And I GOT MY MONEYS WORTH! Take her if you want to learn and laugh! She is soooo funnnyyyy!
This was a fun english class. it seems impossible, but it is true. I went every day! and I passed after failing 211 twice! Kim is chill but helpful. Take this class if you ever want to get to 1a!
Class is fun. Kim is funny. I am only half way thru the quarter, but I will take her again. She expects a lot, but she does help a lot too.
Shes da bomb!
Kim is great. She is very funny and you can be yourself in class. We play reading comprehension and vocab games! English is my worst subject, but I am sure I can get through it with her help.
Not that easy but I learned a lot so far. Take her if you want to improve. She is funny, especially for an english teacher.
fair class
you should choose another english professor if you expect an easy A-. very hard essay grader!
Super helpful. Gives a lot of feedback on writing. Interesting texts to read. Take her.
This is a good class. Kim expects a lot from students, but she is always ready to help. She does make you stop writing run-on sentences and fragments, so be ready for that. It is college......doesn't seem that hard.
AWESOME TEACHER!! Helped me alot with my writing skills. Took her this quarter and getting an A :-). Really happy with her class. I would recommend her!! GOOD LUCK! :-)
This class is beyond the best class ever. If you attend all her classes, your essays should recieve a high grade. She breaks down your essay very well and tells you what do. fun, active, never fell asleep, gives extra credit. shes the best, thats why im taking summer with her! yee yee!
Super helpful on essays. There is work, but she walk you through all the writing organizations ,and her expectations are crystal clear! Take her.
There's a lot of assignments, but she explains all the work thoroughly and clearly. I definitely learned a lot from this class e.g. grammar, writing strategies, peer review, etc. You'll receive a good grade if you attend all the classes and put in the work.
Kim is absolutely awesome. Unless you hate sarcastic people. She's funny and she cares about her students. She'll do everything to help you get a good grade on quizzes/essays and she's very easy going. If you attend every class and put time and effort into your work, there's no reason why you won't get an A. I'm taking her again next year 100%
The best teacher you'll have at De Anza College. I promise you. She's funny and makes class pass by so quickly that you don't even notice. She isn't a hard grader at all. If you do your work on time and show up to class to get points for it, you'll get an A. She makes ewrt classes fun and easy to focus in. I strongly recommend her!
Kim is probably one of the best English teachers to take at De Anza. She's funny, entertaining, and easy going. However, her essay grading is pretty tough. An easy pass, but a tough A. Your grade depends on the effort you put in to your assignments. Poor effort, poor grades. I would def recommend her because she does care about YOU, whoever you are
I think the only reason people give her bad grade is they don't want to make Kim so hot so that they will have enough room to enroll her class.
If you're looking for an easy A, you have the wrong professor. Kim is hands down one of the hardest yet, most helpful, and caring teachers I have ever had. Don't expect an easy A, you will have to work HARD for it. She is very laid back and is also one of the most loving teachers out there. Highly Recommended!
Take Kim! Hands down one of the best professors I've ever had! It is not an easy A and you have to work for it. 4 essays, 1 speech, online posts and really easy vocab quizzes. The workload was not much considering it is an english class but she expects quality and effort mainly. I feel more confident w/my writing. Will take all her other classes!
I wish I could write an ESSAY about Kim. She is WHAT EDUCATION NEEDS! She changed my life and is just down to earth. She is seriously one of the best teachers I have ever come across and I don't throw that out for anyone. Her class isn't hard. Only for procrastinators. Your the best Kim you really give teaching a new definition
ABSOLUTE 100% YES! Honestly she is one of the best teachers I've ever had and I would take her again in a heartbeat! Genuinely cares about her students and wants everybody to pass. She is one of those teachers I could visit if I just wanna chat about life. Amazing person.
Kim truly is a quality teacher! She has expectations for her students and cares that every student passes. Her class isn’t easy but do the work and be prepared to learn because Kim comes ready to impart her wealth of knowledge. She is openly helpfull and humorous. Take any of her classes, Kim teaches more than a subject, she teaches about life!
Kim is a wonderful teacher. She cares about all her students, and is very helpful. She also picks textbooks that are very affordable. Overall I had a great time in her class, and learned a lot. She works through essays part by part so it's not so overwhelming.
Seriously an awesome teacher, but she talks a lot of what impassions her. Not necessarily a bad thing, because it opens the mind's horizon but it does get slightly repetitive. She goes above and beyond for student's success, and isn't super anal, like most professors.
I love Kim! She's, like everyone said, super helpful with essays and understanding points you don't understand. She encourages discussions in class and is really great to talk to! She isn't easy, but if you put in the effort, you'll be more than satisfied with the results :) TAKE HER!!!
One of the best professors I've ever had. She made sure to keep her class interesting, and while her assignments weren't easy, they did inspire thought and learning, and if you apply yourself you will do well. She's a firm but fair grader. Also? Crossword quizzes? AWESOME. Would take again in a heartbeat!
Best class ever. Kim is super smart, energetic, charismatic, and helpful. Everybody talks. Class flies by. I wish I could take her again but I am TRANSFERRING!
Kim is an amazing person and teacher. Super SMART and helpful. She will make you a better writer. Loved her class
She is the most passionate teacher. It is incomprehensible to see how far she is willing to go out of her way for her students. As long as you attend class and participate you will get most of the points. Vocab quiz(5) are easy if you study and the essays(4) are incredibly easy because she goes through every detail of it in class. BEST CLASS EVER.
I took her class for summer and I'm convinced she's the best English teacher at De Anza!English is my worst subject, but Kim definitely made me feel confident in my writing. She is very helpful and makes everything very clear. Attending class is important, not for her, but for you. Her class is fun, readings are easy. Just be prepared to work hard
Kim is passionate about teaching and wants the best from her student, be prepared to do the work and participate. The creative writing class was by far the hardest class I've taken with her--the workload is quite heavy, but it was worth it. I have learned a lot from being in her classes and highly recommend her. If you're struggling talk to her.
Most inspiring teacher I've ever had. Took her for 1A, 1B, & 2A! She is super passionate and makes everything crystal clear. Participation/online writing posts are going to save your life & if you participate and do the work, you'll pass the class easily. She's very approachable and truly wants you to succeed! Kim is the BEST!!!!!!!!
honestly, she is the best teacher i have EVER had. she truly cares about you and makes sure you don't procrastinate. i took her class over the summer and i learned so much. she truly is a wonderful person - i highly recommend her. I got an A, it's not an "easy" A, but if you do the work, you'll probably get an A. i really loved her!!!
Honestly, she is the best professor at De Anza. Very helpful and attentive to every students needs. If you're having trouble, talk to her. She will go above and beyond to help you. You must do the work in order to pass, but she makes the material interesting so its not a drag to do. I still keep in touch with her a year after I took her class.
The reading was hard but good. She introduces a few theories psychoanalytic and trauma theories which we could apply to the readings. Class flew by. Lots of good discussions. She is super nice and not too strict.
Kim is just the best in English Writing! She is 100% willing to help you and gives useful feedbacks. If you wanna learn something, take her class!
Professor Palmore is by far the greatest English teacher I've ever had, not just in college but life as a whole. If you want to improve your writing she the one. It wont be easy especially if your forgetful like me because online work is a large portion of your grade. If your willing to put in the effort TAKE THIS CLASS. Thanks for the coffee Prof.
Kim is, literally, my favorite professor at De Anza. You will write four essays, have one speech at the end of the quarter, and take a few vocab tests in between each essay that relate to The Hunger Games. She is very direct and does an amazing job at relating essay topics to students. I highly recommend!
This was the first college class I took here. I was bowled over by her teaching techniques. She took my writing skills to a whole new level, even though they were already pretty good. Also, I just came from India, where we write a whole different way. She made the transition very smooth, and is a really nice person.
BEST TEACHER I HAVE ENCOUNTERED. Took her for EWRT 1A2, we read Hunger Games & Game of Thrones, she is sarcastic but she listens to you. What I love most about her is that she forms good bonds with her students. She's going to help me pick my schedule & read my essays for apps. She's down to earth, her class takes work but she always helps.
She's a fantastic teacher. Highly recommended.
She is the most AMAZING teacher on campus!!!! If, you do not like to read then do not take her class, because the readings are a must!!! Make sure you speak up in class. Ask for help and she is all ears! Have a question her door is always open! :) You will learn more from her than if you were to take an easy class. She is Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!! WWKD
I love her! If, you want to learn and expand your knowledge, she is a must. She will teach you how to improve your writing and everything! Readings are a must and participation matters a lot! Raise your hand, speak up, come to class,READ and DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
By far and away the best teacher ive had at De Anza. She is incredibly intelligent and engages the class in relevant discussions about societycurrent events, through thought provoking looks on philosophers from the text (also an awesome book). If you want to take a class and really take something away from school, take Kim. Be respectful. Kim
Kim is absolutely 100% the best English instructor in De Anza. You will learn far more than you expect in this class. You will need to study vocabulary, post online assignments, read a textbook and a novel, write four essays, and give one speech in her 1A class. I am sad because she is not gonna teach EWRT2 in Winter. Highly recommend her classes.
Professor Palmore made a 7:30AM class the most humorous and enjoyable throughout the quarter. It was tedious keeping up with the assignments she gives. 100% online homework along with essays due electronically. But she does grade hard. It is fair and constructive, but a little more towards the hard side. She's clear with instructions. Take her.
She likes students, and her lecturing is just great.
Best professor I have had at De Anza. She is very helpful and straightforward. Just because I am giving her a good rating does not mean it is an easy class, so do not expect to pass with out putting in any work. Awesome professor!
Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to pass the class, you really should go every day. It actually wasn't hard to go to class, because the class enviroment is easygoing and fun. There was a lot of reading, but it was a Lit class, so that's expected. Other than that, the HW is online, & the tests aren't that bad, if you keep up with reading
Five essays but the prompts are clear. Online homework every week based on the readings. Must participate in class, her discussionsactivities are interesting as long as you do the reading. Many group activities in class. Very flexible with students. Very helpful, all you need to do is ask. Smart, funny and down to earth teacher, highly recommend.
Best English teacher for ERWT 2. She is really fair in grading your papers and giving you credit. You will have to read a lot and write a lot but she walks you through it and it fits all together eventually. Would highly recommend this class if you want to improve as a writer. To those looking for an easy A, then this is not a class for you.
Great class. Great discussion. Great instructor.
She's amazing! If you do the homework and follow the instruction when you write essays, you should get A or B. She's super flexible and helpful.
Well thought out org of class mat'l, both in terms of sequence, examples, and combo of lecture and student participation. It's obvious what you are learning in this class. She has high stds, does not compromise them in a play for popularity; pushes us to raise our own stds. Interesting. Clever & engaging methods for normalizing participation.
If you LOVE talking, take her. If you're on the quieter side, don't take her class. Participation points matter too much, and there's a lot of reading. You can do hw without reading much, but you'll struggle on the final if you don't do every single reading.
I just have to respond to the person who just rated Dr. Palmore. Participation does matter, but you get points for participating in small group discussions, so you don't have to love to talk, but you do have to go to class! Of course there reading: it is a literature class. I am glad because Kim made me feel ready to transfer to a UC!
Dr. Palmore is an amazing teacher and person all around. She organizes her lectures and class sites in a way that sets you up to succeed, so long as you put in the effort. I wish all teachers were as organized as her. The website and all the resources she provides there are lifesavers. I highly recommend Dr. Palmore! You won't regret the choice!
I was kinda skeptical due to her assigned reading but Dr. Kim is no push over. 1 in class essay, 3 essays due online. 475 pt. 5 Vocab tests 125 participation125 Homework150 for a grand total of 1000 points. Rule for computer: if you are caught messing around you give 50 points to the person who caught you. Real life hunger games guys.
I would recommend her only if you are an english major. There is a lot of reading and busy work in the class. For the first month, it was 200 pages of a novel per week. She seems to be sarcastic at times and essays are graded to a pretty high standard. There are easier instructors out there. She is extremely helpful during office hours though.
I took her for Shakespeare. She is hilarious and makes the class interesting. You have to read and raise your hand to get points, but these points are essential to getting an A. If you are shy, join a group that talks A LOT. She helps by posting the readings online!! She is passionate and you will learn so much! Do your homework!
The readings are fantastic! She really tries to help out college students by posting most of the readings online :) She understands life happens, so it's not a big deal if you are late or absent. Do your homework, participate, and do not talk back to her. If you are lazy and disrespectful, do NOT take her class.
She has a website with all the readings. This class is all about Shakespeare! Very fun! :) You will have to recite one of his works. You will be required to write essays, but she helps you and provides videos that show you how to write MLA style. Dr. Palmore is super passionate, if you need extra help, go to her office hours. Makes class go by fast
She's alright but she's tough.
Great teacher who really cares about her student's success. Kim is always willing to help those who ask and will go beyond the expectations.
Kim Palmore is one of the most helpful and inspiring professors I've had at De Anza. If you are taking Shakespeare, make sure it's with Kim. She is hilarious, and makes understanding the dense material easy and entertaining with videos and comics. When I needed help she was there. Amazing, amazing professor.
All the readings are easily accessed through the website, which makes life pretty damn easy. Nice person. Smart. Interesting. Fair.
Best teacher at De Anza - by far. Hilarious, inspirational, caring. Has a huge heart and a contagious smile. Class is set up for you to succeed if you try. Must take, especially for English majors, arrange your schedule so you can take everything she teaches!!
Kim was great instructor, but personally I felt uncomfortable in the class bc it seemed like the class was driven by a pact of English majors rather than a diverse range of students. Homework due EVERY class, participation is a painful must, exams are fair, and she's a critical grader on essays. If you plan to transfer as an English major, take her
Dr. Kim Palmore is an excellent teacher! She genuinely cares about students and our success. I definitely recommend taking her English classes.
Dr. Kim is so far one of the best professors I've taken a class with. You will have to do the homework and read the material and participate in class in order to get a good grade. Definitely would Recommend her!
Kim is awesome! She is so funny and really cares about her students. She makes all the lessons very interesting. I also took 1B with her, learned so much from both classes. Definitely one of the best professors at De Anza
Easy class that requires constant participation and weekly commitment. One of the best English professors I've had. Provides great insight in her lectures about the upcoming essay. Gives meaningful feedback that you can build on. Charismatic, engaging and understanding. Two homework assignments a week not including essays. Minimal use of textbook.
Kim is amazing! Funny and makes class interesting. You are definitely going to have to work hard in this class but she gives you good feedback on essays. Class discussions were interesting but you HAVE to speak up during class because participation counts. Do all the homework and read! Her class is the best class i've taken at De Anza. Take her!
Kim is a great professor. She is hilarious, I would take this class again in a heart beat. Her attendance policy is pretty good, if you miss a full week of class (5 days) you fail. Great thing about her class is only once a week. No quizzes, 4 essays total, 1 in class. She's really helpful so ask for help.
Very kind professor that will get to know everyone in the class. It was not easy but spend time asking her for help and she will work it out with you. Reads a lot.
This professor mainly lecture which is rly boring. I wish she do engaging things so that we learn. Also the class is about Harry Potter, and I thought I would like it, but it is too much for the whole class. I wish there were more interesting, adult topics.
This instructor is really nice and great. Take her for fun and learning.
This class was a hybrid and it was good. Take her if you want to learn but not if you dont care.
Taking/took her in the Fall 2017 quarter. Her class is somewhat hard if you aren't good at writing and analyzing, but if you want to improve and challenge yourself, take her. Homework is manageable. Gives very good feedback on essays and always gives writing tips! She will even review fundamentals with you. A sarcastic but good-natured teacher.
A fantastic professor with a teaching style that reaches her students in personal ways. Criteria is crystal clear, but you have to work, participate, and ask questions. Do the reading. Do the writing. Think. Have an opinion and share it. Great class and teaching style... but you have to do the work. Highly recommended.
Dr. Palmore is a great Professor, she really helps her students improve their writing skills. Homework was manageable, vocab tests were also simple (STUDY! EASY POINTS TO GAIN!). She explains everything very clearly, and is willing to help you if you are stuck (With great feedback in person, and on essays). Do the work, and you will pass.
Dr. Palmore is tries really hard, but the material she teaches is at a very low level, and I wish she taught more challenging texts. She also uses group work too much and lectures. Personally, not my style because I would like help with writing not literature.
Kim is probably my favorite professor at De Anza. She is caring and available to meet with you. She provides honest feedback and makes you work for the grade. Highly recommended!
Dr. Palmore is definitely one of the best teachers I've had! Her desire to genuinely help her students get ahead is presented through her course work and her teaching style. I have taken multiple classes with Dr. Palmore, so I can confirm that she makes you work for your grade. However, the classes are engaging & she makes herself very available!!
Kim is a great lecturer and highly respects her students. She also has awesome hair!
Awesome professor who challenges your critical thinking skills!
Kim is amazing. She makes the learning process enjoyable, but you have to do the work. Her classroom is fun and supportive. Her lectures provide you with useful information, and the group work fosters great peer to peer communication. She is truly inspiring!
She's the best, take her.
Amazing lectures! Dr. Palmore recorded her lectures and gave us just what we needed for the homework. In addition, she included interesting information related to the topic discussed. Very responsive to questions and provided very good feedback. Dr. Palmore made us work hard but she worked just as hard. I learned a lot and my writing improved.
Really amazing teacher. The discussions were super interesting, I actually looked forward to coming to class. Not an easy grader for essays, but not too much homework and it's definitely possible to get an A. If you don't like politics or reading, you might not like it as much. I strongly recommend her.
she really cares about your success and is super accommodating. she's also super nice and funny. the classes are discussion heavy but pretty interesting. you really do have to read a lot for hw/essays though so get ready for that
Dr. Palmore is an excellent English professor. Her grading is completely clear and she will give you any feedback necessary to improve your writing scores. There are only 4 major grades, which are all papers, but the criteria is clear and she is always willing to help!
Dr. Palmore is always available to help her students. She gives clear instructions and expects you to follow them. The quizzes and tests in her class are very easy if you read Harry Potter. Most of her class is based on Harry Potter.
Excellent course. Easy to follow. The instructor was very accessible, particularly for an online course!
She doesnt really teach much. All she does is make us do group conversations and editing. She just gives us work and were on our own. She is a tough essay grader. She is so rude when you go up to her and ask her for help.
Very nice person and really helpful. Lots of participation required, as usual in english. Learned everyone's names in the first class.
I have to admit I dont really like writing, but Dr. Palmore is now my favorite teacher. Her enthusiasm is infectious. The class is sometimes tough but if you have trouble with anything you can go to her office and she will go out of her way to help you. She does give homework due before each class, but she also plays kahoot for reading qu
No text book but you do need to have access to the books she recommends for each genre. 4 discussions/8 responses, 1 Video Response & 1 quiz due every week & 8 pages of formal writing due by end of quarter. She is strict but caring, quick grading and responding. A is possible but you need to be ON IT. Loved the provided literature! Insightful!
Lot's of flexibility in terms of reading. Four or five choices for every reading assignment. Graphic novels, fiction, memoir, drama etc. The papers are flexible too. Good reading list and a reasonable amount of work. Responds to emails and grades fast. No problem meeting in realtime.
lots of homework and tough grader
Amazing teacher! Really cares about her students, and is available outside of class. Moderate reading and writing. Do the homework! Go to class and participate, it counts!
Awesome and relaxed class! Freedom to be creative, and find your own voice. Lectures were chill and hilarious at times. Really let's you're creativity thrive!
Professor Palmore is amazing! She's thoughful, considerate, and the class is always fun. What's amazing is the discussions and the books we read, going in depth philosophically. She's open minded and always willing to hear different point of views and opinions. She's helpful and is always willing to help any student in need and is an email away!
Creative Writing with Professor Palmore is amazing, and honestly one wild ride. Expect to write some great poetry and some very awful poetry; as well as some stories and let's just say the quarter ends with a bang! Regardless of the result, learning to write creatively in EWRT 30 is helpful and is a great starter for writing.
She's really sarcastic and witty, and made my mornings sometimes. There was a lot of reading involved in her class, like 50-100+ pages per week from a book either fiction or non and then you write an analytical essay on them. Participation is a part of your grade too. Most of the assignments have to be submitted online.
Assignments were a bit silly. Yes, it is an online SUMMER course, but her instructions on said assignments were redundant, and way too wordy, hence making them confusing. Also a bit contradictory. After contacting for help, she was unhelpful. I don't understand her grading process; I do not recommend this instructor.
This class is fast in the summer, but it was interesting and almost fun, at times. Fast and I mean fast responses to email questions. No problems.
Clear directions. Fair grader. Take her.
This was a fun class. She learned everyone's name the first day! I thought it was going to be very easy because we read Harry Potter, but there is essay writing not really related to Harry Potter, but it wasn't so much that I hated it. She is really nice to everyone in the class.
She's one of the best teachers I have ever had. She's really clear and funny! The class was always interesting and helpful. I used to hate writing but now I even enjoy it. You should take her.
TAKE HER! Kim is caring, knowledgable, and great instructor. She does take attendance, but her classes are worth it. She makes writing fun, but you also learn a lot. Gives good feedback and is very understanding when it comes to life issues. We read Harry Potter 2 & 3 and wrote a couple essays on it. Planning on taking her for EWRT2 in the fall!
I've taken Kim for several classes, and each time she's inspired me and improved my writing! I can't praise her enough. Fantastic teacher, especially for English majors. To get A's in her class, participation is key :) Even if you're not an English major, she picks great stories/books to read and the discussions are great! Take her!!!
Amazing professor. You'll should take her.
I highly recommend you take Dr. Kim. Shes a very caring and supportive professor. The workload is sort of heavy but if you show up to class you wont have any trouble, plus shell be there to help along the way. She definitely makes her students feel safe and welcomed.
I took the online summer class with Dr. Palmore. She is awesome, caring, and approachable. Quick to respond emails. Provides helpful feedback. Pre-recorded video lectures were posted on canvas. There are numerous discussion posts, 4 essays, and few quizzes. For this class, we read one book from the Harry Potter series. Highly recommend Dr. Palmore!
no help, no empathy and a tough grader... i literally came back months later to write this feedback. wont recommend :/
Professor Palmore makes talking about literature fun and funny while also teaching a lot of writing skills!
I learned so much from Dr. Palmore! It's not an easy class, but it was worth it. My writing has gotten a lot better and I feel like I'm ready to transfer now. You can tell she really cares about students. She works hard and gives a ton of feedback. Also, I love her videos; they're hilarious. If you want to learn to write, take this class!
After taking this class, I feel so inspired to write more. Professor Palmore is incredibly helpful and answered even my most annoying questions with patience and understanding. She always made time for me to help me develop my thoughts into beautiful essays that I am proud to say I wrote. Take her, if you want your writing to improve.
I took the hybrid summer course thinking I would drop, but I found the class so enjoyable that I looked forward to going. Dr. Palmore made participation fun without the pressure of being called on. For the first time in an English class I felt confident in my work.
Great experience!
Professor is fine but I hated this class with a passion
Her online format is very bad quality. You end up doing learning by yourself, so don't expect any help from her. Everybody in my group was getting a below average grade because she doesn't explain what she expects. Moreover, she is always unavailable via email. AVOID!
Great online course. Lectures are all recorded and the course is open for the whole quarter, so it is possible to work ahead. Five essays but no exams other than reading quizzes. Fair grading. Quick response to email.
This was the best on line class ever! Dr. Palmore creates all these fun ways to learn, so I totally learned a lot. She also gives good and clear feedback on the essays, and she cares about you. Take her class, especially now when things can be extra hard to handle because of everything going on. She will be supportive.
We know its you
We know it is you.
We know who you are.
Dr. Kim Palmore gives out a lot of homework and reading assignments but the class is interesting because she focusses on Harry Potter. I got somewhat annoyed of all the assignments; however, I now realize that everything I learned in her class has helped me for the better. Writing essays was never an easy task for me until I took this class.
She give no feedback and is a very tough grader. Whoever I asked her why she would give me a certain grade, she would never respond. Im not sure why she has pretty good reviews. WARNING dont take her class if you want to learn and get a good grade.
Why do people lie on here? Kim gives lots of feedback on assignments and answers email very quickly even on weekends. No fear here.
I liked her class a lot, each module follows the same format of lecture, reading, discussion. One midterm, several quizzes, two essays, and the two part final. Encourages you to contact her if you need help and gives you good feedback. The amount of readings is a bit hefty, but to be expected for a lit class so you'll need to manage your time!
I absolutely loved Kims class! If you plan to take a literature class online, Kim is the person to take. You will not be bored or floundering by yourself. She explains everything thoroughly, keeps it interesting, and is well organized with her layout and expectations. She truly cares, is easy to talk to and is always available. Kim is the BEST!
I am very bad at literature and writing. Palmore really honed my skills in structural writing and I feel more confident when I transfer to a 4-year. However, she had a LOT of assignments (mostly discussions) and lectures per week (up to 4-8 assignments and 2-3 lectures). Take her if you want to be a stronger writer, but prepared to put in the work
I loved her class. I did not know it was LGBTQ literature until the first day, and I was so excited to learn about a topic I cared about. She is so engaged and cares about teaching tough topics to her students. She is very funny, and I look back on her class so fondly. I legitimately miss her class still, even after transferring and gaining my BA.
Fantastic teacher! I thoroughly enjoyed her class when I took her a couple of quarters ago. Very enthusiastic about the material she was teaching and really strived to give us a good experience in her class - she succeeded. Enjoyed reading all the different forms of contemporary lit and found new favorite authors through this class.
I hate English and writing but took this class because I needed credits, but Kim is honestly one of the best professors I've had the past 3 years at De Anza. She truly cares about each student and I surprised myself by how much my creative writing improved after this quarter. I definitely want to take one of her classes again!
This class was enjoyable. I got a lot of what I was expecting and Palmore was available to help you if you needed it. The class was text heavy so to keep up with a lot of reading you would have to read almost everyday in portions to keep up. The two-part quizzes were probably the hardest because you had to remember a lot about the writers and text.
I improved my creative writing a lot with the advice she gave me, and I'm very happy about it. She's very straight to the point, so assignments are very clear as well as their grading. She will give you feedback on just about every assignment. If there's an in-person class, definitely go to it! You get lots of participation for that alone.
Palmore is amazing, she's funny and engaging, and I felt like she was always 'there' for students. This class significantly improved my writing, she gives very fair and easy-to-follow feedback, and the requirements for each assignment are incredibly clear and easy to understand as well. I highly recommend taking her for any class she teaches!
Dr. Palmore is great. Highly recommend. Had her for online summer course EWRT 1A. We wrote a total of four essays and the class was centered around the Harry Potter series. Dr. Palmore is quick to respond to emails and I had a great experience with her. Very caring and knowledgeable professor with a good sense of humor!
One of the most intelligent professors at De Anza. She introduced us to lots of literary criticism I ended up using at the 4-year I transferred to. My only regret was that this class was online, so her approach to teaching can feel impersonal at times. I was reading hours a night for this class, plus lots of discussion posts. But lots of fun!
I had an amazing time taking her class and would totally recommend it to other people. You do get daily homework, but it's not hard, and a total of five essays to do in the quarter. The textbook was barely used, and she genuinely makes lectures entertaining! Always responded to my emails quickly, and she's a very flexible instructor.
Dr. Palmore was one of the best English teachers that I have ever had. I always looked forward to going to her class. She made the class fun and enjoyable which is something some teachers dont even bother to do. You have to do a BUNCH of writing but she will help if you ask! She has a very clear grading criteria and she is a very lenient grader!
Took her over the summer and she was super easy. Even with essays due each week because of the faster paced course, I still managed to finish them and have time to mess around during the rest of my day. Take her
Took her summer course knowing that it is harder than a regular quarter however she assigned SO much work like at least 2 assignments every day. They arent hard but rather time consuming. Shes a sweet lady and replies to emails pretty fast but I would not recommend taking her class to anyone who wants a life outside of school.
Do not underestimate the amount of time you will need to invest, if you are taking this course over the summer. The pace is not unmanageable and assignments (mainly discussion posts) aren't mind-breaking, but don't expect too much free-time. Overall, I enjoyed her class. I would recommend her class to anyone who is willing to put in the work.
Very dedicated professor, but grading is extremely strict. Honestly, it kind of hurt my confidence. The workload is heavy, which makes it tough for a summer class. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't the class for you, but if you want to push yourself, you'll learn a lot.
Professor Palmore was the best most engaged educator I have had. My course was fully online, and it was my first time back in school in over 5 years. A lot of assignments, but each assignment is geared towards building your essays. Would recommend this professor to a new or returning student especially if you to be a better writer 10/10.
