i think she grades to hard. i have lost points on outlines becaues i crossed out something i didnt talk about, even though she said it was ok! she likes outside the box, i dont think that way, so i get marked off for it. other than that not bad. make sure you have an open mind for speechs though!

i didnt expect that i could get an A in this class cuz eng is my 2nd language. you will never fall asleep in her class but you will always laugh so hard in her lecture. the testes were all easy job, got perfect scores without any reading i like it. She is a full time joker more than a full time faculty. she is so energetic, doesnt need to retire~!

OMG!! this teacher was amazing...i was lucky to have her for my very first college course...she definitely made me laugh and was a great first impression of college. I highly recomend her!!

I love her! She is so exciting and passionate about speech. She is a difficult grader and picky, but if you can follow directions, you're good to go. If you don't take her class, you are nuts. She's amazing and sooo funny.

Extremely easy class!

She was SOOO easy.. She gives you every chance in the world to get extra credit every day. I hate speeches but she made the class fun, interesting, and not just about giving speeches.

I love her! I was so nervous about speaking in large groups but she made everyone feel very comfortable and made us know everyones name by the end of the semester. A very easy class and exams were easy. i wouldnt miss the days of speeches bc some of the questions involve someone speech, etc.

I took this class as a minimester over the summer, and I thought I was going to hate it, but it was just the opposite. I have a huge fear of speaking, but she made everyone in the class feel like we were all in it together. She's hilarious and an awesome teacher. She takes a genuine interest in her students. Take this as a minimester if you can!

She is funny and easygoing

She is very funny and fairly easy. She does her best to make sure you are comfortable giving your speeches. The group speech at the end is a bit of a pain but she did grade it fairly.

Obviously Ms.Roe is hilarious from all the previous ratings. She made class just so enjoyable to sit through and I never got bored. U have two individual speeches and 1 group speech at the very end, in which you get to pick all your topics.I was so terrified of speech but she literally made the class confortable with each other, highly reconmended!

Miss Roe is great!! She makes sure you are comfortable speaking and is a blast. Favorite class this semester. Only problem (which isn't her fault really) is that she has missed class 6 times. The quizzes are easy and the class is an EASY A!!! have fun!!!!

Most people fear death less than public speaking. I'm one of them. Ms. Roe made it much easier, though, because from day one, she gets you in touch w/each of your classmates. I've NEVER had a class where I knew EVERY other student, but she's got a formula that works! Quizzes are easy if you attend class & read book. Group presentation at end. Fun!

She was always very helpful. and the first speech was like a get comfortable speech that didnt really count to make sure you were comfortable. GREAT teacher!

I took this class as a minimester and she made me want to go to class. Her humor wins you over and as long as you follow the handouts youll get an A. Offers a great deal of extra credit. She also gave plenty of examples to go off of for speeches! really makes you get to know everyone in the class which makes it easier to speak to them. love her!

I have never enjoyed a teacher more than I enjoyed Professor Roe. She is absolutely amazing. I absolutely dread giving speaches but I never wanted this class to end. Would refused to take this class with any other professor!

I took this class this spring and it was a pretty easy class. You have 3 graded speeches and one of them is a a group project. You don't do much with the book- you only use it to study for the tests. Kim doesn't grade easy on speeches so you're going to have to earn your grade.

i had her over the summer and it was almost a 3 hr class and she really made it feel like i was there for 40 mins..very interesting and very good teacher deff take her!!

EASIEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. Not only that, but Roe is a super fun, spunky, and hilarious teacher. She will make giving speeches seem fun. I hate speaking publicly but I wasn't as nervous in this class. Take this teacher for Communications, you will not be sorry. You never use the text book, midterm and final are easy guess questions.

Very nice teacher with a good sense of humor. She helps break the ice at the beginning by helping everyone get to know each other. The topics of the the speeches were hard to come up with. There's a critique, culture, and group speech. She grades speeches very hard but gives tons of extra credit. Easy A

I absolutely HATE giving speeches. I actually have gotten bumped down a letter grade for not giving speeches in other classes. I did all of my speeches for Roe & I enjoyed it, surprisingly. She makes it easy and fun, and I actually wish I had taken the class over a normal semester, rather than summer. TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU CAN!

First time I didn't want a semester to end. Felt like throwing up every time I had to give a speech but wanted to give another by the end of the semester. Very chill & relaxed classroom environment. You'll get to know everyone. Gives a lot of extra credit & a bunch of feedback/comments on speeches. Funny/entertaining teacher. Take her class!

One of the nicest professors I have had at ICC. Loves her job and wants to make sure that you enjoy the class and feel comfortable with everyone in the class. She really does care and you can tell. I just wish more professors were like her.

She makes the classroom environment very comfortable, which makes it easier to give speeches. Hard grader on speeches but lots of opportunity for extra credit.

Kim was one of my favorites! I definitely recommend her for anything. Her lectures were fun and didn't put me to sleep. She was a little bit of tough grader on speeches but there were no quizzes and only 2 tests including the final. She gives room for LOTS of Extra Credit!!

I was expecting to take this course and be completely bored. I found that Kim Roe is the opposite of boring. I have had many instructors and she is by far my favorite. She lectures so well using real life stories, which are so funny, to incorporate in the learning material. She allowed us to choose what to speak about and was extremely helpful.

Professor Roe has a great sense of humor, loves teaching speech, gives great examples before you give a speech and makes you feel confident and less terrified of standing in front of a class talking. She grades according to her rubric and be prepared to get kicked out if you are talking and laughing while a student is giving their speech.

She's absolutely hilarious - a blast to be around! She understands the anxiety that comes with public speaking and intends to make the class as relaxed as possible. There's only 2 graded speeches you must present on your own and one (more frustrating) group speech. Overall I recommend her to anyone with a fear of public speaking stuck taking speech

Would definitely recommend taking her class, especially if you're nervous about public speaking. She totally gets it and is a decently generous grader. She assigns fun speeches and is totally willing to help you out. She'll also make you laugh at least once everyday which is a major plus.

She was one of my all-time favorite teachers. The class is super easy if you just try and PRACTICE your speeches. Never miss your speech days for else you will not do very well.

Very friendly, and she has very entertaining lectures. She does well to make you feel comfortable during speeches and is not judgmental at all. If you have to take a communication class (especially com 110 with speeches) take it with Kim Roe, you won't regret it! Her tests are kind of hard, but as long as you do well on your speeches you'll do well

Kim Roe is by far the best teacher I've ever had. First of all, she is hilarious. This makes the class not boring, especially during lectures and notes! She gives extra credit, which gives everyone a more than fair chance to pass the class. She respects you as a student. I don't think I could've lucked out with a better teacher for this course.

Overall this class was not overly difficult. The material for the online quizzes can be found in the book, but I also made quizlets. There are a lot of ways to earn extra credit, especially for the final. You get lots of in class time to work, but I do not feel that I learned anything too new. I would recommend her class if you have to take COM 110

Kim Roe is by far my favorite professor at ICC. She is hilarious and makes coming to class really enjoyable. I have a fear of speaking in front of people, so having to take Comm 110 made me very anxious. But, Kim eased my anxiety and it turned out to be an easy A for me. Would take again.

She says in class that if you complete all requirements you'll get a C, and an A comes from more effort. That being said, there are at least 4 or 5 ways to get around 15 points each for extra credit. The online quizzes are easy and the final is online. You don't even need the textbook. Also, her lecture prompts seemed better than other teachers

She is an amazing teacher! She really makes the lectures fun and helps you feel not quite so nervous for public speaking. She can be a hard grader, but if you do everything she asks for and then some: its not very difficult to get an A.

Also the group project will help you get to know others in your class better. I would definitely take her class again.

Kim is a wonderful professor. She will literally give you anything you need in order to make sure that you are able to give a great speech. Her lectures are wonderful because she doesn't make them boring, as she would always crack jokes. I would highly recommend taking at least one of her courses!

Professor Roe was an incredible instructor. She clearly enjoyed what she taught and valued her students. Beginning of the semester, she focused on building her students' confidence through simple exercises, preparing them for their first speech. She is an easy grader & even though this was a speech class, it was very easy-going. Highly recommend!

Download your speech outline as a PDF. She kept saying "nod downloads", but never specifically said PDF. I got a zero on a 100+ point speech because of it. So learn from my mistake. But overall easy class and a great professor. I had online anytime so we didn't interact much. She's really nice though. Loves The Office.

I would definitely recommend Professor Roe! She is a very fun, laid back person who is very nice and is easy to contact for help. She gives great feedback on each speech and makes the class enjoyable. There are some easy assignments/quizzes, 3 speeches, and 3 peer reviews on those. Overall an easy, enjoyable class and a great professor to take!

Super easy! Took online summer 2020 and only had 3 projects to complete. We recorded our speeches at home and submitted them online to review. Not a lot of work and easy grader.

I took Professor Roe's class as an 8-week course over the summer and I loved it! She is very engaging and has a great sense of humor. She also knows how to talk to students if they need help. I definitely credit Professor Roe for pushing me and for making me more socially apt as well. 10/10 would take her class again!

She was my favorite teacher this semester. Her lectures are really interesting and she always had a lot of energy. She has extra credit opportunities and a clear grading system. She always gives feedback on the speeches and is helpful if you're confused.

Would recommend! She is very friendly, gives good feedback, and isn't a picky grader. Easy discussion boards and short quizzes are most of the assignments; only 3 speeches for the semester. Grades in a timely manner and was responsive to emails. Gives clear expectations and examples for the speeches. Overall a good choice.

Assignments were simple, graded quickly and fairly. Speeches were graded tough but not crazy - just put in the effort. I kept getting points off my speeches, and I emailed to ask what I could do better, but she wouldn't really give specific critiques until after the final speech. A little frustrating. Overall very structured and consistent though!

Professor Roe makes this class enjoyable with her friendly, laid-back approach. Assignments are straightforward, and she provides clear feedback to help improve your speeches. unstuckstudy was a great study resource alongside the textbook. Overall, a pretty easy and rewarding class.
