Dr. Sawrey is the worst teacher ever. You only have four grades in the whole class (3 test and 1 paper) and there is no extra credit offered. He doesn't care about his students and isn't very willing to help youwhen you go to his office. The tests are very hard, the only way i found to do kindof okay is to use the companion sites practices quizzes.

Dr. Sawrey was the worst professor I've ever had. I went to his office hours to get help and he told me that I needed to learn to study better and didn't explain anything to me. His tests are extremely difficult and I had to read the text book just to understand what was even going on in the class.

Very petty. Purposely makes assignments tedious and gives you the run around when turning in an assignment. Does not care if students are sick or dealing with family matters- you will just fail. Too many awesome professors to deal with him. He will make a psychology major question their degree!

This was the absolute worst class I have ever taken. I'm usually an A/B student and this class was the ultimate struggle. He splits tests up, half from the book and half from his lecture. He NEVER teaches from the book, it is all up to you to read, and occasionally he will have a pop quiz. Essays are big as well, so expect ALOT of work

I feel like he makes it challenging to weed out not serious psych majors and to prepare freshmen/sophomores for later serious courses. I am a senior now but had him freshmen year and now appreciate how he taught and how he pushed study techniques. Be prepared to study and attend class. Book required.

A fantastic character, but also a challenging teacher. Dr. Sawrey is easily the most difficult professor I have faced. You must commit to the class. You must attend every single class. You will fall behind fast if you miss one. The book is required for success on exams as well as attending lectures. His lecture style is quite enjoyable.

Dr. Sawrey is an interesting professor. He isn't horrible, but his humor is harsh. He also tended to send long reading assignments via e-mail the night before they were due. He's certainly not the worst, but he's not the best either. Be weary.

Doesn't post grades so you never really know what you have in the class. He likes to give pop quizzes, almost once a week. Your grade in the class is made up of 2 tests and pop quizzes so you really have to pay attention. You HAVE to read out of the textbook to pass. I would not take him again, he grades harshly and his exam is cumulative.

This was certainly a challenging course. He doesn't give any guidance for test prep, and almost your whole grade comes from exams. Interesting materiel though!

The issue with this class is how difficult he makes it. Although the topic is difficult already, Sawrey makes the subject matter even more challenging by giving little care about his students. While this does cause the students to study more often, it causes much more discomfort for the individual student. Take this with someone else. Not him.

His exams are half from lecture and half from the book. But you don't go over the book in class. So you never know what questions he might pull from the textbook and add to your exam. For a study guide he sends you 10 questions that might be on the exam. It's annoying. Definitely does pop quizzes. Doesn't take attendance but I would suggest going.

Dr Sawrey was one of the most inspirational professors I had at UNCW. And I had quite a few. As our study abroad advisor in Wales he cared about the students in the group. In the classroom in Wilmington the man didnt teach an easy course. You had to pay attention, read, and prepare. You had to participate in your own learning experience.
