Professor Shih is not at all organized in the way he presents the material. His handwriting is incomprehensible and the way he jumps around on the board makes effective note-taking impossible. I was so horrified by his teaching style that I dropped out after two classes. If you can teach yourself then this is the class for you (no attendance req'd)
Prof. unorganized, writing is illegible, and somewhat of a language barrier, however, if you take the class in stride, attend every class, make your name known, and show him you are rly trying you will do well. Take in reg. smstr-30%HW, 25% quizzes, 15% report, 30% final. Keep those up n you'll do great. Kickbacks for those who take every quiz : )
Contrary to all the comments below I found Kim Shih to be very helpful. He always responded to my emails and was pretty organized. Although he is a bit harder to understand due to his accent, I did not find that he was difficult to learn from at all. I found his classes to be humorous although still challenging.
Very enthusiastic, but heavy accent obscures any teaching ability. Rapid pace doesn't help. Grading is strict. Quiz average is scaled, ~+10 pts. No homeworks dropped, be sure to do all. Final was VERY easy after dealing with him all semester.
Very nice guy. I recommend going to the classes as HW alone will not cover what you need for the exams. He gives exam pointers in class and they are usually the examples from the board. He is always willing to help if you ask. Expects high participation so you can't zone out ever :)
Thick accent hard to understand moves really fast through the material and doesn't cover well. Very unhelpful when you ask questions. Homework is online and contains a LOT of questions and half of which he barely covers. He is the type of professor that thinks his class is your only class. Absolutely terrible.
Professor Shih is a great guy, class isn't bad if your willing to put in effort.
Entertainingly eccentric at first. Course material itself is challenging but heavy accent does not help when delivering his lectures. Tells you to disregard the book and focus on slides but even his slides are confusing. Assigns take-home quizzes but won't notify absent students about them. Doesn't look like he enjoys teaching. Not recommended.
I had read the reviews he received and I wanted to give him a chance: biggest mistake I've made in my college career so far. He's a decent person but that's where the good stops. His class is difficult, the homework is not entirely connected to what he teached and the weekly quizzes trip you up. bottom line: don't go with him unless you're a expert
Great teacher. He is very helpful and excited with his material. Most of his quiz questions come from his power point. He makes everything easy to understand. His classes only meet twice a week. Try not to miss any class, not easy to catch up if you miss the class. But the questions in his quiz are pretty predictable if you study his ppt.
Professor Shih made everything easy to understand. Most of his quiz questions come from his power point. If you can do good in his quiz, you should be fine for the final exam. His class was very intense but fun. In general, I enjoy his class.
Great professor, very easy and fun class. Just follow his power point, you will do fine.
Try to avoid
I took the Chem II summer course and he was fantastic. We had really long classes so he gave us breaks and made sure we were always feeling fresh. He graded harshly but really tried to be fair, in that if you came up to him and explained why your answer was x or y he would reason with you and maybe award partial credit. Great professor.
Chemistry itself is tough to grasp if you haven't taken it before. Like everybody else said, you basically just need to follow his power points and you'll be good for the quiz. Hard to understand at first, but you'll get used to it. Overall, I would recommend taking the class.
Took Shih for Chem 1. Guy is hilarious but sometimes hard to understand. Has powerpoint slides online, though they can be difficult to follow unless you pay attention to them as he goes over it in class. Generally regarded as one of the more difficult Chem professors, but you will probably learn best from him. If you're into Chem, I'd reccomend
ABSURD, HE DOES NOT SCALE AND IS IMPPOSIBLE
GO TO CLASS! Attendance isn't mandatory, but it is graded by in class clicker questions. Professor Shih gives Extra credit on homework that adds major points to your final grade. Kim understands that being a student isn't easy and for our weekly quizzes he gives us the really hard chemistry topics as a take home quiz which is an easy 100.
Attendance is not mandatory, but he does take attendance using the clicker. DO THE HW it adds a very good amount of percentage . My biggest tip for all you freshman taking Chem I is to answer a question on the white board once so you dont have to do the presentation (doing one question on board is equal to 3% increase). dont but the textbook.
Funny guy. Don't miss any class, otherwise you can't follow up his lecture. Willing to help, but a tough grader. He does not scale. Everything based on his syllabus. He is a fair guy. HW is a must with bonus. Don't miss HW credit. In general, his class is pretty easy.
Great prof. Funny and makes chemistry interesting and easy to learn. Quizzes and tests can be tough but are based on material presented in class and HW. Generous grader on tests + quizzes but tough on projects and papers. Tries hard to make sure students do well. Would take again!
I don't know why this guy has some bad ratings. He does have an accent but it's easy to understand and he is an extremely funny guy. He specifies what is on every quiz and it's all on his lecture slides. He does problems in class that almost always end up on the quiz. Pay attention and you'll do good. He really rewards you and is a great guy.
He's the reason I love chemistry! I've taken ever chemistry class with him and wouldn't want it any other way! Absolutely hilarious!
Hilarious! Cares about his students. Very fast response for emails. Generous grader. Quizzes always reflect his weekly email telling you what is on the quiz. I don't understand the negativity he gets on this site. He talks sorta fast, but will answer any question you have. Chemistry is a difficult subject, might as well have fun while learning it.
One of the most hilarious professors I have ever had. He is a really smart guy too! Reminds me of Ken Jeong from the hangover! Really learned a lot from him! Highly recommended. Pop quizzes are tough though!
VERY GOOD
Never could get myself to his class but still managed to pass. He is very irritating, especially at 8 in the morning, and i do not find his teaching style effective at all, as he just goes through power points, points at people to read them, and then attempts to explain them using his broken language and crappy metaphors.
He is such a funny guy and wants his students to do well. If you don't like Chemistry, it's your own fault you didn't enjoy his class. The material is easy to understand and the powerpoints are available on blackboard/wiki. If he sees you're making the effort, you're going to pass. He gives us the quiz questions/answers in advance.
Tough teacher, but you will learn if you want to. He's hilarious during his class, weekly homework , has clicker questions constantly but no book needed
Attendance taken by clicker questions (almost every class). Online HW due bi/weekly. Weekly quizzes consisting of no more than 10 questions. Only a final exam. Has students volunteer for added participation pts. No textbook, strictly teaches from slides. Hilarious. Yells when he talks. A tough that is do-able. Quizzes/final were completely fair.
do clicker questions yourself from the ppts he uploads to his website to get full credit for clicker grade. Homework due weekly on sunday, with the exception of 2 off weeks. Come to class. definitely worth his jokes! he makes chemistry fun. quizzes based on ppts and he gives us the topics of what the quiz is gonna cover in an email. def great prof
Great professor, really puts emphasis on paying attention to his lectures. He urged us to not take notes and instead just listen and read the slides he would present. He is a huge character and is really loud and hilarious. His slides are very concise and teach the material perfectly.
I had him fro chem I. He was the best part of my day. He made chem very easy. the way he explains is very understandable. you can find the clicker questions online on his website. If he asks you to do a question on the board, do it then send him an email. youll get extra credit. Go to his lectures, its worth it.
Took Kim Shih for Chem 1. His quizzes are harder than other professors which was an issue, but it made the final exam a breeze. Quizzes are worth 40% of your grade and the final is 20% so it depends on the student if having him is worth it. No extra credit is offered, and he does NOT bump up your grade, even if you're a few decimal point away.
One of the best professors I've ever had. He's hysterical, makes you love his class, and if you go to his office hours, he's willing to help. You get a quiz every Thursday, but if you download his slides, you should be fine. However, his quizzes are harder than the other professors and he won't round your grade so you need to put in the effort.
Kim is a super funny asian dude. He is extremely smart. If you have a hard time understanding accents you might want to choose a different professor. He uses the clicker everyday for attendance and grading purposes. He offers extra credit too and TAKE IT! I legit thought I was going to fail but I passed with a B because I utilized the extra credit!
My favorite teacher. Clicker counts so go to class. Has the best accent and is very charismatic and clearly loves chemistry. It is easy to do well if you pay attention because he outlines exactly what will be on the quiz. 10/10
Kim Shih is a hilarious guy and gives great lectures however he does NOT follow the syllabus and when I tried to talk to him about it he was not caring about it at all. Hard class, does not give extra credit but sometimes will give take some quizzes and the points will be added to your next quiz.
Great teacher. hilarious and gives great and meaningful lectures. You won't need to bring your textbook to class. Class was fairly easy for me however I took AP Chemistry in high school so alot of stuff felt like rehash to me. Still, Kim is the best Chem 1 teacher ANYONE could have
Just your typical professor. Nothing really wrong with him but he kind of reminds me of a looney toon.
Hilarious guy. Explains concepts pretty quickly which could be a problem. He emails the class on what is going to be on the weekly quiz so you know exactly what to study. Highly recommend.
One of the best teacher's ive had. Always the brightest part of my day. I failed chem 1 first semester but passed his class second semester with a B. Very enthusiastic and really wants you to learn. Grading is though on the quizzes but considering how easy and reasonable they are it shouldn't bother you. Doesn't take attendance but don't miss class
Kim is hilarious, and really makes going to class a joy even though attendance isn't entirely mandatory. He does his best to make sure your grades are good and you pass the class. He really cares about his students, and although he has a thicker accent that can be harder to understand he will write down what he says in order to make sure you get it
Must take best teacher at uml...... wish he taught every class I took
he exactly reminds me of Ken Jeong. Go to youtube and type "Community: The Best of Chang" Would recommend to take him. really funny. Do you he went to Harvard?
best chem professor out there
Great professor, funny guy, and helpful teacher. Weekly quizzes, but he sends out what they will be on. If you go to his office hours, he is more than willing to help you. Always cracks jokes, keeping class interesting. Homework once a week.
Loved Kim Shih! Wish I could take another class with him. Super funny and always keeps class interesting. Doesn't take attendance but he gives out random classworks and doesn't allow makeup work. He doesn't give extensions so do weekly hw on time. Tries to make the quizzes easy and he tells you everything that will be on them. THE BEST
Kim is a great chem I professor. He uses analogies which are hilarious, partially because of his thick accent, that actually help you understand complicated chem stuff. He tries so hard to make you understand instead of memorize; however, there are still stuff you need to memorize. One of the best professors this university has to offer.
Kim Shih is clearly passionate about teaching chemistry; he's a funny guy with a knack for inappropriate jokes. Attendance is important since he gives occasional "pop" classwork (done in groups). You'll need to study up because quizes are worth 50% of your grade, and the final is worth 20%.
A solid choice for a chem teacher. VERY funny lectures and teaches with much energy. Makes a boring subject interesting. However at the end of the day you will have to do most learning by studying independently. Beware of classwork pop quizzes. Tests are pretty fair.
Take his class. Cant tell you enough how much I loved his class. Makes the 9 ams easy and fun. Cares deeply about wether or not you succeed. Whenever I see him around he always asks how Im doing in chem 2 and offers me help if i need it and I dont even have him as a professor anymore.
Best of the best. He is excited with what he teaches. Send out e-mail every weekend to tell you what will be in next week quiz. Funny professor. Too bad, he doesn't teach Chem II.
Kim shih was one of the best chemistry professors I have ever had. I am not particularly good at chem and was nervous to take it, but if you go to class and review the slides twice a week, his quizzes are a breeze. I wish he was teaching chem 2. He also sends out weekly emails giving you exactly whats going to be on the quiz.
He's a great professor, he knows how to deliver the material the way that student will be able to understand. You can tell he's passionate about chemistry. He will give classwork that worth 10% of your grade. And most important ones are the weekly quizzes. He's a strong believer that tests doesn't represent a student's ability, so the final is 20%
Chem is not my best subject but he teaches pretty well. he also teaches pretty fast though. Works with slides, does problems on the board as they come along and will stop if you have a question. Has a bit of an accent and talks pretty fast. Humorous as well. quizzes make up most of the class. with final exam being worth 20%
He is funny, helpful and caring. You will get a treat when you go to his office to get help. You will get weekly e-mail from him for you to prepare his quiz. Awesome professor.
Attendance isnt mandatory, he even told my class, if you miss my class dont tell me. However you will not pass unless you go to his class
Hes really funny in class and tries to make the topics relatable/understandable. He doesnt care if you show up to class or not, but theres random pop class works. You have to put the effort into the class to get a good grade, but he does email you every weekend on whats going to be on the quiz.
He's a good professor, however, it's frustrating for many students like myself when you attend his office hours every week and put tons of effort into the class, and then the end of the semester comes and you have an 89.9 he will NOT round you up. There was no extra credit and no lead way what so ever.
I started out with very little chemistry knowledge and thanks to his phenomenal teaching, I was encouraged to put a little effort in and I passed. This was my favorite class to attend. For me, it was an 8 AM, so the hardest part was getting up. I would suggest this professor to anybody who is not incompetent in chemistry and wants to have fun.
Very energetic and passionate about chem. Ran behind and had to rush to catch up. Class felt very disorganized; lecture and a few example problems during class. Attendance not mandatory but there are random classwork given throughout the semester. Emails quiz topics every week. I wouldnt suggest taking him if youre weak in chem/cant teach yourself.
Kim Shih is definitely among the top professors/teachers I've had. He's hilarious and cares about what he teaches and actually cares about you learning the material. Attendance is optional but I highly recommend attending all the classes you can. He can talk/teach pretty fast but will always repeat himself when asked. I highly recommend him.
I genuinely liked Dr. Shih as a person, and thought he did a good job with lectures (though he makes some weird choices about how to explain topics sometimes). The only complaint I have is I failed the classwork assignments because me and the group couldn't understand what his directions were. But he drops 2 quiz grades, and makes it easy to get A
Had Kim for Chem 1. Very enthusiastic and interacts with you. If you like an engaging recitation I would highly recommend. Overall great guy. Quizzes and hw are on par with the rest of the Chem 1 Profs.
Overall good professor, but the classes can feel extremely long because he goes over PowerPoints only. He tells you exactly what to study for the quizzes. He will almost never extend deadlines, and doesn't have much sympathy for late work. He is a very funny professor, which made Chem 1 more enjoyable.
Had Shih back in fall '18 for gen chem 1 and still one of the best professors I've had up until now (junior year). He makes class fun and engaging so that 50 mins go by fast. He prepares students well for the weekly quizzes and in general for future chem courses. Great professor.
Dr. Shih was a great professor! His lectures move fairly quickly, and they are content heavy. Prof. Shih shares the powerpoints with you though, so you can go back as many times as needed. He also is very available for extra help and answers email quickly. Quizzes are every other week. He is very funny and just overall has an enjoyable class.
Professor Shih's class made me want to wake up every Tuesday and Thursday. Extremely fun and interactive class. However, DO be prepared to interact. He calls on people who aren't participating.
Professor Shih's class was my favorite part of the day. His class was enjoyable and I learned a lot.
Professor Kim at first would seem like a person who talks to much, but as days goes on you would see that hes an amazing, caring person. Who cares about his students. On top of that hes very hilarious and makes his lectures more interesting.
Professor Kim makes his lectures entertaining and funny. He usually includes good analogies to help students understand topics more easily. Occasionally he tells funny stories that are memorable.
Shih is a very funny professor which makes his classes interesting and fun. Explains topics using real life scenarios and drawings. Assigns homework weeks ahead of time, quizzes are straight forward. Don't miss class bc he has classwork thats a big chunk of the grade. He really loves his students, told the class everyday, wants to see us succeed.
He's a really cool guy and knows his stuff. He really tries his best and makes class more engaging for the students.
Prof. Kim is one of the best chem teachers I've had. He's really funny and uses memorable examples so you remember and understand bigger concepts. He's been pretty laid back about making up quizzes, but you have to be on time with any homework or classwork since those parts are virtual. I definitely recommend taking him!
Kim Shih is a great Chemistry professor. I took him for Chem 1 and was able to get above a 94 average on the quizzes so I don't have to take the final. He cares about his students and wants us to succeed. He's clear; says to study 15 mins every day and you will do well. I took this by word and it worked. Don't skip class and put in the work.
Probably one of the most carrying professors. However, Id never take him again. It was hard for me to keep his pace. It doesnt matter that you do all the work and go to class, if you do bad in the quizzes you still in risk of failing since they count as 35% of your grade. Attendance is optional but do NOT skip class or you will be completely lost
I Loved Kim Shih, if I can take him again for any chem course related I will. He deeply cares for his students and he shows it, and he is funny. His quizzes were not hard if you study, his study guide for the quizzes are EXACTLY what is on it. You have to come to class otherwise will be lost. He will answer any questions you may have.
I took Kim for Chem 1 and he made every lecture entertaining. As long as you study 15 minutes every day, an A is guaranteed. I didn't take that advice but still passed with a B. I also missed out on a few classes and even though there were lecture captures, it's very different from learning in person. PUT IN THE WORK AND YOU"LL BE REWARDED!
good sense of humor and cares about students but a very tough grader with firm, rigid expectations and standards. no-nonsense professor who doesn't grade unreasonably but you definitely only get what you work for. his lectures are one thing you can't afford to miss and you will most likely need to read the textbook and other material to grasp it.
Fantastic energetic funny professor. Demands and deserves everyone's full attention and understanding in class, 10/5.
THE BEST HUMAN YOU WILL EVER MEET! A true gem that is very funny with his stories! Also very passionate about his subject of study which is great because he really wants you to learn the material! It is a lot of calculations so be ready to bring your calculator, but you definitely leave the class learning a lot (at least I did)
ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS FOR CHEMISTRY I! Chemistry is hard, but he tries his best to make people understand the subject. Don't skip class if you want to pass. He offers a lot of help for students who need it in the course and was willing to work with them during the weekends, Just be careful on every assignment and you will have a high grade.
I respect Kim a lot because he was late to class one day and 2/3 of the class left the last 1/3 had a question that I knew how to answer Kim walked in a little while later and said I didn't have to take the quiz because I understood the subject. His Hw is 30% of your grade, the tutors are super nice, and Kim actually cares about his students.
Kim Shih is a great professor and earns my respect. He may seem strict initially but explains his material well and always answers questions thoroughly. There are quizzes every two weeks, which aren't bad, and homework is a little tedious but easy. He really preps you for the final exam.
Kim Shih is very good at teaching making things easy to understand. He's very funny and lectures can be interesting. He would do problems in class to give you an idea of how to solve the problems. Quizzes are given out biweekly. He is a very kind professor, but can be strict. He has a lot of times to help you out even on the weekends.
Dr Kim Shih is an incredible professor. I will forever recommend him to anyone who needs to take chem however do not take him if you are easily offended because he will probably make fun of just about everyone in class
Kim (which he preferred being called) is the best professors you could get for Chemistry. He has a great personality, this means he is caring, respectful, and a great understanding both as a professor and an individual. His expectations of you are to learn chemistry rather than get an A. He is great at teaching and provides a lot of feed back.
Kim Shih is a Professor that enjoys his subject. He tries to make chemistry fun for the class and his lectures all have little jokes. If you don't go to class, you won't understand his quizzes or homework. He is always available if you need help even outside of office hours. Also, he's just a caring person (Kimsgiving)!
Had Kim Shih the first semester of college and could not have asked for a better lecturer. Classes are as entertaining as Chemistry can be. Was the only 8am I didn't despise
Kim is the best professor at this school. I always struggled with chem, and he made chem 1 enjoyable. He's hilarious, and makes class enjoyable. Make sure that you don't skip class bc you will fall behind. He teaches very fast. Listen to him when he says study for 15 minutes every day. Also make sure you understand chapter 3 its important
Kim Shih is an amazing professor whom you can tell loves his work. He makes classes wildly entertaining and it is a rare occurrence where a student does not find him to be fantastic.
I really like Kim, and he is a great teacher. However, his quizzes are substantially harder than those of the other Chem 1 teachers. If given the chance I would probably take one of the other teachers, just because my grade would be better. That being said, I do love Kim, and if I could have him as like an uncle I see at family barbecues I would.
He is a good teacher and a very nice man, but his quizzes are ridiculously difficult. He will add very small information that was covered on one slide (out of 100) and expect you to remember all of it. He would be a great teacher if he gave more practice, so we knew what would be covered on the quizzes. Not bad, I just would take another teacher.
One of the best guys ive ever met. Amazing professor but make sure you do your HOMEWORK its work alot, thats where i messed up
Arguably my favorite professor I've ever had. Professor Shih was hands down the funniest teacher I've ever had and just funniest people I've ever known. He is also one of the sweetest and caring men I've ever met and you can tell that this man deeply cares about his students and their success. I love Kim Shih :)
If you know that you struggle with chemistry do not chose Professor Shih's class. He goes very fast and teaches his lectures like you already know the material.
If you like chem you'll like kim but if you don't you might find his lectures a bit hard to understand. He moves fast but if you do the work as expected his class won't be impossible. Also the tests have true/false questions and they will always be true. he's a funny guy but very loud so don't take the 8 am.
Extremely rude and disrespectful, if I could rate 0 I would please do not take this professor, thick accent talks fast and reads off slides pointless lectures I feel robbed of my money. his jokes can be "funny" sometimes but as a person he's the most disrespectful professor i've ever had.
Reviews above three stars are questionable. He is not a chemistry professor, he is an alg teacher. If you have a good understanding of the curriculum, you will be punished for knowing the subject better than other kids. Don't know how, but such an easy course is made hilariously hard because of his ego. AP Chem > Shih Chem; if not for credits limit
Awesome lab professor, he is also very funny. I Enjoyed his class
This professor knows his material however he has a ve
I don't think he was a bad guy; however, I do think his teaching methods were not very effective. His quizzes got harder each time, and even though he dropped the lowest quiz and the lowest classwork still, having a good grade is hard. He is funny, and has a dark humor, which I enjoyed however I understand people may think he is disrespectful.
Hands down may be one of my favorite professors ever. Is extremely passionate about chemistry and teaching. Every class has 100% of his attention and care. Is great at teaching and can explain complicated topics and break them down easily. I can't recommended a professor more. Though he speaks fast but if you pay attention you should be fine.
Kim is a funny professor. He makes everything easy to understand. But don't expect any bonus or extra credit from him. Quiz questions are from homework. Don't miss classes. It is hard to catch up if you missed classes. That's from my own experience. Follow his weekly email, you will do fine.
I got a D in the course, I tried very hard, but his quizzes were insanely hard, I did really good for hw and cw however quizzes I failed 6 out 6, it felt like everything he taught was completely different from the quizzes, the same thing happened for the final. I liked him tho, separate the artist from the art kind of thing.
Incredibly funny. Tries his best to explain concepts using real-world metaphors which works scarily well a lot of the time. Attendance isn't taken, but missing even a couple classes can have you ending up completely lost. Quizzes are fairly short and take up a large part of grade, so there's very little room for error.
He is the GOAT. Serious, funny and caring. He is serious about the homework deadlines and course policies. He is funny. He used different metaphors to explain tough topics. Follow his biweekly email to prepare his quiz. Easy to make an appointment with him. He delivered KimsGiving dinner to his students on Thanksgiving day. Great prof.
Nice guy, but I hated this class. His quizzes were way harder than any of the other chem 1 professors. The wording was always confusing. My quiz average was a D, but I got an A on the final (that he didn't make). Not great at teaching chemistry. Never knew what was going on in the class and I'm a chem major. Makes weird jokes about students as well
This class was frustrating. The slides were hard to follow, and I struggled with homework, quizzes, and the final despite trying hard. Don't miss class or you'll be lost. As a first-semester student, studying was challenging, but I also didn't connect with the professor's teaching style. While they're a good person, I wouldn't retake their class.
Professor Kim is engaging and makes the material enjoyable, even in an early morning class. While the quizzes can be challenging, regular studying and utilizing resources like Unstuck AI make the course manageable. Overall, a worthwhile experience.
Lectures were just to have quizzes and recitation was when we learned the material. He does a pretty good job at teaching it, but he goes through the material very fast.
TAKE ANYONE OTHER THAN KIM SHIH. He is one of the reasons I hated chemistry more than I do now. One time, I asked him for extra help, but he just kept yelling at me when I didn't get something, so I just stopped going to him. His quizzes are nothing like the material he teaches and he is just way too confusing. I did like his humor though.
He wants you to succeed. All you need to do is follow his simple advice: do not miss class and study 15 minutes every day. Class becomes easy. The only reason I give him a 2.0 difficulty and not 1.0 is because sometimes the quizzes have trick questions. I will miss waking up to Kim Shih and his wonderful voice; he makes morning classes tolerable.
Dr. Shih is sometimes hard to understand, but he is the most engaging and hilarious chem prof ive had so far. his quizzes are pretty tricky but as long as you do what he says (study 15 mins every day) and dont skip class you should be fine. overall i would definitely take him for chem 1 again as he made concepts easy to understand and connect well.
Great and hilarious guy, but his teaching style makes it very difficult to understand. I struggled a lot with the course even while studying as he asks us to do so.
Dudes a cool guy, super funny. His lectures were a little confusing, or his answers to students' questions weren't super clarifying, but it was kind of fun, and the quizzes aren't too hard as long as you study minimally and try to understand it.
If you are not a CHEM major do NOT take Kim Shih, he is very good at teaching chemistry but his quizzes and grading style can set you back. If you're not a chem major I highly recommend you take Dr. Young's class, it will be a lot easier to pass.
I had him for an 8 am, and he's the only professor I would ever take for an 8 am again. He's hilarious and engaging even in the morning, which is perfect when you're exhausted and half asleep. The only issue is that he has a heavy accent, which makes him hard to understand, and his quizzes/work are harder than any other chem professor.
This course is a fast-paced, demanding course. Attendance is crucial Homework is assgined on Aktiv which allows only two attempts and limited feedback, so it functions more as assessment than practice. Exams and quizzes are heavily weighted. Extra credit is available but depends on Professor. I recommend studying early and using outside resources,
