a lot of memorization, take a lot of notes, very easy exams
No Comments
She's so hot it's hard to keep my mind on the schoolwork. ****!
Cool teacher! Very hot too! Be sure to study your notes and you'll do fine.
She's one hard teacher, however, if you pay attention, and write good notes without allowing your hand to peridoically fall off, then you'll do fine. She's tough, but you'll appreciate it in the end.
I do not think she is a good teacher. I would not take anymore classes with her.
Very helpful! and so cuteVVV You rock, KIM!!
Expects way too much for a 100 level course, I'd hate to be in any of her higher level classes!! Way too many messy notes to copy. Though she is an organized prof, I'll give her that much. She did turn me off from PSYC though. Tests are quite hard...
tough but knowledgable, and really hot
Psy 210 is a tough course and with Kim as a prof.... it is absoulutely brutal. She knows her subject very well, but absorbing her knowledge is another story. She looks kind a cute, but not as hot as others have said. Her writing is also a bit problem.
AMAZING TEACHER!!! Very knowledgeable and informative. Study ALL the notes, especially the lexicon. If you do, exams will be easy.
Brutal class notes and exams. Too many notes, too many people complained. Hard to approach outside of class, and an extremely hard marker!
awesome teacher! her class isnt hard, but theres just a lot of material to absorb and if you do your reading as you go along, everything will be fine. id take another class with her.
Very nice teacher. Cute. Easy to follow instructions. But gave us a long essay to do. It's all well.
she is a very good teacher as far as knowning her stuff, however the tests were difficult and she isnt the easiest to reach out of class time
Kim is amazing!! she was very helpful in class and out of class. she is interesting to listen to, and uses great examples to help you understand. I loved her class and highly recommend her!!
Kim was a great teacher. Everyone got pretty high marks on her test, but obviously you have to study and memorize lexicons. To pple who say they are "turned off of psyc," obviously intro to psyc is all biology and boring as hell. But you have to stick with it to get to the good stuff.
She was an awful teacher. If I didn't like the subject so much I would never take another psyc class. She wasn't very helpful outside of class, she always seemed like she had something better to be doing. She was an utterly useless teacher. I learned more from the text. Don't take this class with KS
Awesome class. That paper was hard man, didn't seem like it to others, but then that'd just be me, I did procrastinate. A's would be easy to get if you actually listen to her in class, simple enough to understand what she says.
If you are an A student, expect a B. If you are a B student, expect a C. This is an EXTREMELY hard class, and if you do not put above-average effort into it, you will fail. That being said, Kim was a good teacher for a brutal class. Only suggestion - the lexicons are way too wordy. I got a B-(good)
i wanna cry cauz i can't understand her lecture notes.
She's a nice person, but her presentation of material is lacking. She is a very hard marker!!!
I loved Kim's teaching style. She uses alot of examples and can tell when the class does not understand a concept, and explains it in more detail.
its a brutal class, but she is soo hott !!
its psyc 102 not psyc 500
She treats 100 level students like they are brain surgeons. Insanely hard tests and unrealistic expectations for an enrty-level psych course. And snotty... doesn't have time for students.
A tough professor for sure. She gives clear notes, but lots of them, know the lexicon def'ns! In the end, her class really paid off, learned a lot from her. Study her notes for the exams! Would recommend her in the future.
I love her teaching style; she's tough but she explains things really clearly, gives really clear instructions, and i've found her incredibly helpful outside of class. I've taken two classes with her and just started my third (psyc 280) which I'm sure I'll like just as much.
She is lots of fun. Very clear about what will be on the tests. Only on assignment. I loved the class
This was the third class I have taken with Kim and I am very disappointed that it will be the last because she is a great instructor. Her classes are not easy, but her tests reflect the material that she teaches. After completing her courses, you really feel that you have gotten a lot out of them! :)
I do not reccomend Kim for 100 level classes. Very tough and tests are brutal. Understanding of her material is hard. She expects you to know It all just cause she does. Hard to tell what to study for. Many student find her difficult, I had a interest in Psych, until taking her class.
She is very clear and concise, though she does talk rather fast at times. She really keys on focusing her lessons on harder parts of the textbook so that we can fully understand everything in the text. Her notes help you know what will be on the test, and she flat out tells you what the essay will be on. She really fulfilled my expectation of this course.
Kim is an excellent teacher! If you're expecting to get an easy A, or looking for an easy class, you are in the wrong place. But if you want to actually get something from the class, and learn the material, Kim is the best! This is my 3rd class with her, I wish I could take more! If you study what she says to study & take good notes, you're fine
I am stunned, when students have rated her has a great prof. The worst teacher to take for Psyc 101. I have seen students literally drop like files out of her class. Watch out students you may think your enrolled in another instructor's class and then end up in hers, they just want to fill up section cause noone wants to be in her class TOUGH PROFF
Most teachers do not care about intelligence but would rather give an A to the student with a good looking cover page. Streibel is not like that. You will fail quickly if you don't learn, but knowledge alone will go a long way with this teacher. Know your stuff and pay attention.
Kim is a great professor. she demands alot from her students, but is very clear in her expectations. she makes herself available for going over papers, use it! lots of learning of definitions. v important
Kim was a great professor! I learned alot in her class and she was very clear in what she taught and knows a great deal about psychology. Her exams were fine if you studied a bit and it was very clear what to expect on the exam.
She is a great professor! She definitely knows her stuff, she's very smart. She is also very nice. I've learned so much in her class, I hope I get her again in Psych 102. You will do good in class if you take notes and memorize the lexicons, they aren't hard to memorize.
overall pretty good...i didnt like her tests tho...but i guess that i cant complain!
Anyone who complains about how hard this class is has no clue what they are talking about. I didn't even buy the textbook and got a B+. Tests aren't overly difficult and she makes the lectures moderatly interesting.
Kim always offered her time in order to ensure clear understanding of the material. Definitions and essay questions on the exams are to be written verbatim to what was said in class for thise who have poor (or good) memorization. Kim does provide a comfortable learning environment.
She's a pretty good lecturer, but she puts her writing requirement into the tests. I find she focuses more on getting students to memorize rather than learn.
She is extremely boring, talks too fast, doesn't explain things clearly, and her hand writing is very messy.
SHe'd rather let students memorize than learn, Basically, if you memorize all the notes you pass. Waste of money, you wont learn with her fast talking, and massive amounts of lectures. Other than that she helps you if you need help.
Unbelievable amounts of extra readings that she thinks are miniscule. Messy writing and only expects student to memorize and not learn.
I really liked her. Yes, her writing is sometimes messy but she knows this and all you have to do is ask what it says. She is very helpful which is good because sometimes her instructions for essays was somewhat confusing. She mainly goes by her notes, not the text for tests. Know your lexicons and you get 10 free marks on each test!
Kim is a differant duck. Her writing is like reading hieroglyphics. I asked her about a lexicon on my test, and was very condescending. Although intelligent, she needs to understand that we are not all psycaholics like her. I really liked her unil I asked for help, and shot me down. Step aside yellowfly you have been over ruled. btw (not that hot.)
Kim is very smart, and in my opinion, this is a downfall in her 'teaching'. She has a degree in biopsych, so she has a lot of intersting stories, but she isnt helpful and is a VERY hard marker, but wont tell you how to improve. know the textbook like the back of your hand, as well as her notes. Shes an interesting prof, but i wouldnt recommend
This woman is a genius, and expects you to be too. She expects a little too much from 101 students, in my opinion, yet she is a very good teacher. Memorize lexicon definitions and diagrams, and you should do fine.
knows alot of information but the class isnt for you if you cant listen to a professor talk for 3 hours and take 10 pages of notes at the same time. very intellegent lady but it doesnt work for her in the classroom she expects everyone to be geniouses and isnt an easy marker. also use her words not your own on short or long answer questionS!
I admit Kim is a hard marker and places high expectations on her students, but she completely defines what she expects of students, she gives you the answer to the essay question on the first exam, and as long as you know the lexicon you do fine. In addition, shes intimidatingly intelligent but talking one on one she is a very sweet person.
Her expectations are very high for a level 100 class. She is very intelligent and knows her stuff, but I wouldn't recommend her for someone in their first semester.
Took her class as a first year student and thought her class would be like any other first year class but that's not what this class was. The prof is really smart but she treats this entry level course as if it was a third year course and she notes are complete bs can't read her writing also
Loved Kim! She was a fabulous prof with clear instructions and expectations. Tests weren't easy; but she told you exactly what to expect with lots of opportunity to make up marks. Just overall a great lady and professor. I will take her for 102 for sure!
Kim is awesome. I met with her after the midterm and she was so helpful and my grade went up because of it, not just in her class either. She's incredibly intelligent which is why I think a lot of students struggle, and she uses a projector in class, but she cares a lot and expects a bit more out of her students. Would definitely take again!
Kim is excellent teacher. She is very clear on her expectations and is willing to help when you need it. Her exams are hard if you don't pay attention and study what she tells you too. However, if the whole class does poor she gives another chance to build your grades. If I can get an A with a disability then anyone can if they try!
I've come to the conclusion that the Psych department is chalk full of terrible people. Kim is rude, condescending, and judgemental. If she misunderstands a question you ask (which she does a LOT), she'll give a long-winded irrelevant answer and interrupt you to tell you to stop talking when you try to correct her. She doesn't care to help you.
horrible lectures, difficult exams
Awful and condescending. Does not relate to her students well.
Kim is extremely intelligent, but has issues relating to her students. She comes off very cold and condescending. Psych is one of my favorite subjects but her lecture style is really sit, listen, take notes. Then you must have to regurgitate everything she says on the tests.
She's a wonderful person, but the way she teaches is not for me. She expects you to know and learn everything for midterms and exams within a week.
Dr. Striebel is amazing prof. She is intelligent, knowledgeable, helpful and prepares students for every exam. Gives clear guidelines of what's expected even prep tests with some questions from real tests. If you like psych and have good(normal) study habits I definitely recommend her. Love her lectures she is passionate about her job.
Cold and condescending. Kim is extremely intelligent and knows it. Her teaching style is lecture based and she expects you to just repeat what she says for exams.
Kim is very knowledgeable in her field but bad at conveying information. Her lectures are poorly structured and difficult to take notes on, she talks too quietly and grades too harshly. I took a first year psych class with her and had a lot of trouble getting through. I would not recommend taking a class with her, especially not an introductory one
Kim is quite the tough grader, but I respect the way in which she does it. Her exams are quite difficult but she gives a bit of a layout on what to expect. If you don't understand she gives you every opportunity to reach out for help. Overall a very kind lady. Would recommend to those willing to put in the work and effort for their grades.
Dr. Striebel is incredibly intelligent and she is fully aware of it. Although she is a very nice and charming lady, her style of teaching is not one I work well with. She expects students to memorize her exact wording for written answers on exams rather than wording them yourselves. Also quite difficult to keep up with notes. Very kind though!
Took this class as an elective. Worst class I have taken she's a super tough marker and is so rude in her emails. Her tests were so different from her lecture notes. Don't recommend her unless you want your GPA to drop.
I was a bit worried after reading some of the negative reviews but ended up loving the course (pysch 101) and Kim's teaching style. Her lessons are interesting and easy to follow, and she is passionate about the material. Her exams are fairly easy and she gives good feedback. Advice: Take detailed notes, and study all the lexicon terms Great prof!
Kim was nice when she wanted to be. The tests were unbelievably difficult. I'm lucky I passed tbh and only received the mark I did because of the in-class portions
Kim is a really nice person and extremely intelligent, but she's an awful teacher. I've receive A's and B's in all of my classes except this one. You have to know such irrelevant specific details to pass the exams. She doesn't help you at all. She doesn't explain what you did wrong. She did NOT do ANY lectures! You teach yourself... Ruined my GPA.
Kim is an amazing prof. Her notes are AMAZING and really prepare you to understand the material in the textbook; however, I didnt use the textbook at all as the exams were mainly focussed on her notes and the lexicon terms. As long as you generally understand the lexicon terms you will do well. Love her!!
I didn't like how she graded things, and when i stated some information she told me negatively. I will never sign up for her class ever again. i dropped her because of her.
I'm sure Kim is a great professor in person, however because of covid-19 I took it online, and let me tell you I did not enjoy. She provides weekly notes and thats about it. Her exams are incredibly challenging considering the students are practically teaching themselves everything from the notes.
I am not sure why Dr. Kim has such low reviews because I really enjoyed her class! It was asynchronous so you work at your own pace, and she provides notes, powerpoints, textbook, and extra videos for help. Two assignments and 3 exams that are mc / explaining lexicon terms. Got back to you about questions or feedback, overall a great class!
AWFUL. She doesn't teach, she posts notes every week and students are left to learn the material on their own. Her exam questions are incredibly hard. NEVER TAKING HER AGAIN. worst prof I've had at UFV.
If you consistently go to class, read and study as your supposed to, you should be fine in her class. Kim is a great professor, person, and genuinely wants you to understand the context of psychology to the best of your ability and will go above and beyond to help you out. Don't hesitate to sit down with her if you're struggling.
A professor I'll remember for the rest of my life. Brillant, caring, compassionate, all around just a great person. If you want the best of the best, take her course. Be prepared to work, she wants you to do your best and fully comprehend everything to be successful, if you don't understand anything she will walk you through it. Thanks Dr.Kimmy!!
She is very easy to talk to. She is very passionate of what she does and available throu email. 202 is a hard class but she tries to help. I would take her again because the way she explains concepts inspires me. She seems like a great person. However, get ready to do the work as she is a hard marker.
I took Professor Striebel online class, she posted slides and gave weekly announcements. There are only 2 discussion post and 3 exams online. However, she is an extremely hard marker. She does not give the exams back to see what went wrong. I do not recommend her class!
Dr. Striebel is obviously passionate about her work and her students. She lays out all of the information plainly. She is a strict marker, but she clearly gives you everything you need to succeed. Amazing experience so far, even if it is a little intimidating to be wrong. If you actually want to learn the material, then take her classes!
She claims to give you everything you need for exams, even word-for-word answers, and yet there are several trick questions, and low grades returned. No review unless you ask for it. She is passionate about psych but in a perfectionist pretentious way. If you aren't *exactly* right, you're wrong.
She sets a high bar, I put in a lot of study effort, the exams proved very challenging. The complex wording often made it difficult to grasp exactly what knowledge was being assessed. This, combined with the high expectations, made achieving a top grade quite a feat. It's safe to say this was the most demanding course I've encountered so far.
Striebel is an incredibly hard marker and will not cut you any breaks. By not providing the word for word explanation of a concept, she will mark your answer wrong. She rambles and never sticks to idea during lectures, often jumping back and forth from concepts. I sometimes wondered if she wants her students to fail. Save yourself by not taking her
I have taken Kim's classes for both Psych 101 (A- final grade) and Psych 280 (A+ final grade), and I have her again next semester for Psych 202. Honestly, I'm not sure why most people on here don't enjoy her classes. She's tough, sure, but she is clearly passionate about her field and as long as you put in the work you will be totally fine!
She talks very quietly if you take in person lectures. Keep up with the course content there is a lot. She uses the whiteboard to lecture instead of a PowerPoint so just pay attention in class. Participate in the discussions and study the learning objectives for each unit and you will succeed. Her research is very interesting about schizophrenia
PSYC 280. She uses pre-recorded lectures from previous semesters that are super difficult to understand due to a computer. Her 'content' is power point slides with sound bites attached that are 30 seconds - 9 minutes long. Only take her class if you will teach yourself. Material is easy, teaching is awful and no effort is put in on her part.
Anyone saying shes a hard marker in the PSYCH 101 course either has poor reading comprehension or doesn't care enough to read instructions. 1 assignment (just read the instructions), 3 tests total, all online and not proctored. Do what you want with that info, but don't blame me for it being changed in the future. Can't complain overall. Seems nice
she seems like a nice person but a good professor. Her exams are extremely difficult. She doesnt give half marks, she'll fully give you a 0. she's also very quiet when she's talking. Do not sit in the back of the class because you will not hear her.
Other than the lab, there's one assignment, mid-term exam, and a final exam. While it looks very easy, the exams are extremely hard. Very soft spoken, to the point where I barely heard her and I was always in the front 2 rows.
I found Dr. Striebel to be a very good fit for me. There are three midterm exams (not cumulative) in this class and one discussion assignment, so make sure you study well because you are not graded on an awful lot. I will say that her lecture notes are a tad disorganized at times, however it never impeded on my overall learning experience.
She was not clear in her directions and explanations at all. Even though she pushed for her students to be concise with their words, she was not. Not the nicest towards her students when everyone struggled on the midterm. Would not want to take her class again.
this half of the course was graded by few things, 3 exams and 1 discussion assignment. she marks extremely difficult, expects very precise exact answers or else to her it is wrong. she speaks very softly and quietly during lectures, and often only touches on one small topic out of the entire notes during her lectures. there is a ton of material.
Does not respond to emails, ever. Contradicts herself in lectures, no slides just her talking at the front of the class and posting written lecture notes for weeks not in class (hybrid course). Wants super specific answers. Avoid unless taking her courses online. Her online courses are very well organized (PSYC 101). In person was a mess.
