great teacher, try to get her section
I miss this professor! I have never had such a great understanding of Chemistry since this class... If you pay attention to what she says, you'll have no problem getting a good grade. Do whatever you have to do to take her for Gen Chem!!
Good teacher, good person. Definately take her
One of the best chemistry professors at University of Kentucky, very helpful during office and lecture, and overall a genuinely great person. Made genchem fun, almost.

I want her for 107!
Dr.Woodrum is wonderful! She really is the best chemistry teacher here at UK. Do whatever you can to get her. And she's wonderful to see during office hours...she really cares and tries to help. I am definately getting her for 107!!
This professor makes chemistry relatively easy to understand. She uses real world examples to get her points across. By forcing attendance she kept my grade good.
awesome teacher!
Dr. Woodrum is the best Chemistry teacher at UK!
Definitly UK's best chemistry teacher, and in fact the best teacher I've had in any class!
she could teach a rock chemistry!!!seriuosly the best chem teacher you'll ever have! if you can't get into one of her classes, sign up for somone else's and go to hers!
very helpful and easy to comprehend
Very nice, seems to care about her students and the class. Was in Dr. Ades class then transfered, Woodrum saved me from failing.
The class itself is exceptionally easy. Very easy to get an A in. For those who have trouble in Chemistry though, Woodrum is an outstanding teacher. She is very professional and gets through all the material efficiently, but she is also laidback (sometimes silly) and keeps the class amusing!
I never actually had Dr. Woodrum - I just sat in on her class, because my teacher was so horrible. My understanding level increased dramatically once I had begun to go to her class, anyone that can't get into her classes, do what I did, its very beneficial.
OK teacher, very funny, but sometimes moved a little fast.
Absolutly fantastic teacher. You can get an A in 105 or 107 if you just read the book, but she helps a lot if you need more than that. It's a tough subject, but out of all of your professor options, she is the best.Unfortunatly, almost impossible to get. If you dont get her, dont worry, justreadthebook
She was an excellent teacher. I've never had a better one at the University. Everyone comes to her class even if they are not enrolled because she is absolutely the best. Print off her lecture notes and although she moves pretty quick, you will do okay.
She is by far the best chemistry teacher. Each day is different in her class. She has lots of energy in her lectures and does her best to keep the class awake and attentive.
If you have to take 105 or 107, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE WOODRUM! She is the best teacher for the class and she is very willing to work with students outside of class if they need help.
She is the BEST chemistry professor of all time. I wish I would have taken her for CHE 105. Definitly take her for both 105 and 107. She explains things in a way you can understand and she's a really nice person.
Woodrum is definitely the best Chemistry teacher at UK, she is probably the best professor I have ever had. She is very knowledgable about Chemistry and goes out of her way to help her students.
very nice teacher but this class SUCKS and is hard as hell if you don't get a good foundation in 105
Taking Woodrum will save your sanity in this horrible duo of classes. Chemistry is definitely not my greatest subject, but with her help I pulled out A's in both of these classes. GO SEE HER IN HER OFFICE HOURS because she's always there to help! I LOVE WOODRUM!
Woodrum is a great teacher. The class is incredibly hard just due to the subject matter being chemistry, but she's a great help and really wants her students to do well. By far the best chem teacher at UK. Highly suggested!!
Chemistry is HARD: you NEED Woodrum. I learned a LOT about Chemistry - and teaching. GREAT Teacher!! Very interactive--she tried to make intangible concepts come to life. Even if you aren't in her class, she will help you...and, she has a standing room "class" of students registered in other classes in the back. Get her if you can.

Awesome professor. Wouldn't take Chem without her.
Excellent teacher, that's all there is to it. She gives you the option of not having to attend class if you get an A on the first exam. I recommend doing this simply because I'm too lazy to do homework, in which you have to answer with a remote. DO NOT skip her lectures, because they make studying a complete breeze. Definately taking her for 107.
LOVE HER
Best gen chem teacher at UK. When I took the class, she was writing the exams for all sections. No brainer here.
She is an awesome chemistry teacher, but chemistry is not awesome.
She subbed for my professor the last three weeks of the semester. Even though I rarely attended lectures after the switch, she was a much better teacher. I tried to get her for 107 but the 300 person class was full by the time registration opened.
Good prof, but dumbs things down so much that you better really read the book and try to learn on your own so you don't flunk out of organic chemistry.
She is absolutely amazing! The best gen chem teacher you can get. I would definitely sign up for her class. Don't wait though it fills up fast!
Wonderful fun teacher who teaches things many different ways so everyone can understand. Class attendance is a little annoying but she's worth it.
According to a lot of UK students, she's the only general chem professor worth taking. I really disagree. She's a nice person, but the way she talks and dumbs down everything is kind of insulting. Take her if you dislike or don't know anything about chemistry. If you're actually interested, take someone else...
If you study, this class is an easy A. Everything is explained in detail and you're never wondering what will be on a test.
She's absolutely wonderful. If you can schedule her then I highly suggest doing so.
She is an amazing teacher and this is definitely an A class if you read the book and do the suggested homework problems. She does a good job at explaining things that sound hard in the book so that you can understand them.
Very helpful in a difficult subject.
Very unclear. The class moves at such a rapid rate, the moment you don't understand the smallest concept your grade will start to fall. Here office hours are always full of at least 7-10 students so you will only get about 2-4 questions max. during the hour she is there. Her power points make for poor note taking and the tests are extreamly hard
This class requires a lot of time and effort in understanding the material and practicing the problems that will be on the tests. There are more than enought times to get help on questions and because so many people take this course at one time there is someone to help you. Also, Woodrum told us exactly what to study to get an A on the test and hw
omg, i went to her lectures even though she was not my prof, and my grade improved.. take her.. she will make you happy... Oh and also, the test averages for her class are usually b's and for the other professors. its a d.. so good luck if you can get into her class
good teacher, bad semester
I liked the way she presented her lecture materials...the powerpoints helped me to learn in that I could write down all of the necessary information (the powerpoints are already partially filled in) while hearing the lecture.
She is an amazing professor, she will go out of her way to help as long as you ask. She made everything extremely easy to understand and although I had not only a dislike but a hatred for chemistry, I didn't mind going to her class.
Great prof in the Chem department! Definitely sign-up for her lecture if you can... her notes are the best and she keeps things lively and interesting. Exams are moderately difficult but they are the same between the other sections of CHE 105/107
just study, because i had holler and then i had woodrum and i did the same. it depends on how much you put into it. Although is is the only one who keeps you awake during lecture.. other profesors are monotone!
Very good teacher, the grade you get however depend on how hard you work, but her lectures ar/re actually interesting.
Good teacher. Keeps students involved in class through the use of a "clicker" system. Works a lot of problems on the overhead (which becomes messy at times). Does cool experiments and demos in class.
I skipped my actual lecture (Ades) and came to Woodrums. She makes everything simpler! For one of the toughest classes here at UK, I was able to pull out an A. I am not sure if I would have been able to had I not attended her lecture. :)
Has to be the best chemistry teacher at UK. She tries her best to make chemistry interesting and goes out of her way to help her students. Be sure to go to class everyday otherwise you'll fall behind.
Very good teaching
if you have to take chem, take woodrum's class!!
Woodrum is a really great teacher. Read the book, take notes, and go to her office hours and you will do great!
I had Holler for 105 and have her now for 107. She is an excellent tecacher from the standpoint of chemistry and from the standpoind of teaching in general. Her methods of teaching are unmatched. This is not to say by just having her you will get an A...you have to do the homework and work problems alongsife her lecture and you are guarenteed an A.
She is the best chem teacher for Chemistry at UK
She is very good at explaining things and is always willing to help. The class is difficult, but she is the best teacher for it.
She is a great teacher! She makes chemistry as interesting as it can be and really likes helping her students. Go to class and do the online homework and you should be fine! Her office hours are extremely helpful too.
great!!
Woodrum is an amazing teacher! She is ALWAYS willing to help you if you go to office hours. She explains the concepts in fun ways that you can remember. This is not an easy class, but i think her section is easier than the rest if you have to take it. If you can't take her, sit in on her lectures in the hard units.
Even though most of her classes are large. If you are confused and have a question in your head, she will not leave it unanswered whether you ask her or not. SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS AT UK. HANDS DOWN.
I didn't actually have her but I started sitting in on her classes because my professor sucked. SHE IS GREAT! She is so helpful and even though I wasn't her student she was always willing to help me when I had questions. Take her if you can...but her sections fill up very quick.
If your going to take chemistry, shes definitely the one to take!
Great! Explained material well. Focused on what was important and what was on the test. Did examples in class that helped. Available to help outside of class. Good atmosphere.
Dr. Woodrum is one of the best professors at UK!! She explains the material very well and is always available when you have questions or need help. She even encourages students who aren't in her sections to come to her lectures. She's very sweet and really funny. Make sure you take her for chemistry if you can!
Wonderful teacher! She takes an extremely difficult subject and help you understand it. I had Holler last semester and my midterm was a D. I took her class, did the same things(because I always study)and my midterm this time was a B! She's approachable, amiable and eager to help. She's just an all around wonderful professor that UK is lucky to have
HARD class but she's the best professor to take. I failed it twice and never got above a D, but with her I got a B and C on 2 tests! She's really good at explaining things, just make sure you go b/c missing one class really puts you behind
Her curriculum can be challenge, but that's just chemistry for ya! She does her absolute best to help you learn in every way she can: lecture notes, podcasts, example videos, even links to other websites if you just Can't learn from her. There's no reason for a person you cares not to be successful in her class. Woodrum's the best!
Dr. Woodrum is probably the best Chemistry teacher at UK. She brings a small class environment to a large lecture and is easy to understand and follow.
Pretty good, although she leaves out some important things you have to know for the tests. You must be reading along with her lectures! Best chem teacher overall, though, for sure.
Wonderful professor! Extremely helpful. Come to class, do assignment practice problems, visit her office hours if you need clarification, and you will do just fine. If you don't understand something, the book is VERY helpful. Definitely the best Chemistry professor from the lot. Very down-to-earth.
She is so helpful. She really cares about Chemistry and her students! Loved her class!
I had another teacher for CHEM 105 but attended Woodrum's class after I got a B on the first exam. She is a DEDICATED teacher. She organizes the information from the book in her own way which makes it much more comprehensible. Also, she explains things in a memorable way that makes the concepts much easier to grasp.
Best teacher at UK. Explains things well, no surprises on the tests. Excellent.
Dr. Woodrum is an excellent professor, and she handles a large lecture well. Creates her own notes you can print off and fill in during class to help you understand the material. Hands down the best professor to take for the CHE 105/107 sequence!
She's a really good teacher. She tries to explain concepts in several different ways so that everyone can understand, and she offers external help if you still need it. She's not the warmest person, but she's always willing to help. She's the BEST.
Great Professor, really cares about the kids learning, she'll go out of her way to make sure you understand the concepts, very approachable and down to earth. Definitely the best professor for CHE 105 and 107.
Great teacher. If you are taking 105/107 and you don't get in her class wait until the next semester. She is that much better than everyone else, goes out of her way so that you can watch her lectures online and she even works out multiple problems to view online since there is limited class time. Don't waste your time with another chemistry teach
Love Love Love her. The class material is really hard, but Dr. Woodrum is extremely helpful. I practically live in her office, and she is more than willing to explain the concepts and work problems with me. Really nice and easy to take to. By far the best chem professor, so it you have the chance to take her do it!
She's great; not much new I can say as most previous comments sum it up well.
AMAZING!
I had Dr. Woodrum for both 105 and 107 and she is pretty good. She is definitely the best general chemistry teacher at UK. The only thing that annoyed me was that she ended her lectures early when she finished early or was ahead of schedule instead of working out more problems. She wasted a lot of time that way.
Organic Biochemistry with Woodrum is the best. Her lectures are very clear, she does clicker questions on them to ensure you understand, we did group activities (very helpful!) and if you pay attention, do the activities, and study the review (literally is everything thats on the test) you will get an A. Great teacher and really learned alot
Woodrum is very gifted as a teacher. Pay attention and do the homework and you will be fine. She's very available for help outside of class, ample office hours especially before exams. Not easy (Chemistry is inherently difficult) but she wants students to truly understand the material.
Such a great teacher. Chem is not really my thing, but she makes it interesting. She's really helpful too. I am always going to her for help. You can tell she is really passionate about her classes.
I love Woodrum and i have found that many people who do not have her for class are coming to her lectures because they can better understand her than they can there own professors. She is amazing!!!!!!
She is, to put it simply, the best chem teacher I have ever had!
Dr. Woodrum is by far, the best chemistry teacher at UK. She really tries to ensure that everyone knows what she is talking about. She genuinely wants her students to do well and is always open for meeting one on one, which is really nice in such a large class like CHE105. And she loves Jesus!
best chem teacher at UK!
Dr. Woodrum is a wonderful teacher. I would go so far as to say that she maybe the best chemistry teacher ever. She is truly a wonderful person (nice, helpful, concerned about students) exams are curved. She is a gifted chemistry professor. Before I took this course I was truly AWFUL at chemistry but under her instruction I was able to get an A.
Dr. Woodrum is a fantastic professor that makes the material much easier to understand. I highly suggest taking her sections for general chemistry. Her sections usually score higher on exams than other professors' sections.
FANTASTIC TEACHER. It can be annoying though because she explains everything. If you struggle in chem, take her lecture. If not, still take it. I look forward to the class and have it MWF. you will walk away with a decent look at chem.
She's a great educator. The way she explains things makes concepts easier to grasp. Her classes typically have a higher average that the other lecturers' classes, & her bird slides are very helpful. She also makes podcasts from her lectures, & even people who aren't in her class often sit in or listen to her podcasts. She's very helpful & kind.
Everyone really likes Dr. Woodrum, except for me.I find her lecture style to be frustrating and confusing. She NEVER goes all the way through an example so there is no way to know if I got it correct! Plus she always cancels all of her office hours to do other things so you can never get in to see her.
She's the best professor you could honestly have for basic level chemistry courses. Her lectures are great. She goes far beyond the expectation and truly wants you to succeed. Her podcasts are the only reason why I passed CHE 105 due to a terrible professor last semester. I highly recommend her.
THE BEST PROFESSOR FOR CHEMISTRY IN THE ENTIRE STATE!!! She knows what she is talking about and definitely wants her students to succeed. She's a chem goddess!
Best teacher on this campus. Explains material very well and would help anyone at anytime. Get her if possible.
My favorite teacher ever. Take her no matter what. Make your schedule around her class. Best teacher at UK. Use her podcasts as well...they are very helpful.
She is very friendly, she is the best chemistry professor i've seen for gen chem.. but.. she teaches the material at a dumbed down level. she teaches how to do a lot of things without teaching the concepts behind them.
The absolute BEST chemistry teacher at UK. I had a terrible experience in CHEM 105, but Woodrum made Chem 107 feel like a breeze. Her podcasts are very helpful, and shes willing to help you understand the material. If you're not fortunate enough to get her in class she still helps other students.
I am terrible at chemistry, but I actually ended up pulling a B in the course because Dr. Woodrum is extremely helpful and her lectures are so easy to understand. She is an absolutely amazing professor.
I love Woodrum. Shes very nice and animated. Tries to be funny. Extremely approachable helpful. She dumbs things down to make sure you understand it. Go to class, she gives a clicker question every class that counts as attendance. I'm HORRIBLE at any chem, and I managed to pull a B. I'm taking her for 105 & 107. She's a beast!
Amazing professor. Loves what she teaches and is good at what she does. Can be a challenging class for some, but as long as you pay attention you should be fine. Very interesting to listen to
Very good teacher. She explains all the topics thoroughly and keeps a good pace for lectures. She likes for you to print out all the lecture slides, but I didn't and I got along fine. The book can be very helpful and the practice problems help a lot for studying. MasteringChemistry does suck, but is worth it when you are taking the test later.
The best hire the University of Kentucky has ever made. Very Friendly and will bend over backwards to anyone who seeks out her help. If you can't get in her class wait.
Although I only pulled a high C in the class, I have to admit I would've dropped the course had it not been for Woodrum. She's amazing at her job, and unlike any other professors I've had thus far, she really does care about her students in more ways than one. She wants you to succeed.
Probably the best college professor I've had. Chemistry is difficult material in general, but she really makes an effort to help you understand. Had her for both 105 & 107, and she wrote me a recommendation that helped me get into Vanderbilt. She's awesome.
I LOVE woodrum! I hate chem and she dumbs it down for you so that it's comprehensible. She loves to teach and wants you to succeed. Gives leeway on hw. 4 exams which are pretty straight forward. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!!
She is one of the best Chemistry teachers I have ever had. She wants to make sure you understand the material she is teaching. She takes things you are learning and uses real life examples to help explain. Dr. Woodrum is very good at catering to visual and verbal learners. I would definitely take her if you want to learn and understand chemistry.
Really fantastic lecturer! Most of the material can be understood just from lecture and reading the book just helps clarify specific point of confusion. She's also really determined to help students succeed. She makes herself very available. Fantastic teacher!
Hands down the best professor I've ever had. Makes things very easy to understand and accessible if you need help. Earned an A and barely touched the textbook. Didn't get lucky enough to have her for CHE 107 but her podcasts got me through that course with an A too. My whole class gave her a standing ovation on our last lecture day. She's the best!
I also had her for 108. she is a good teacher and makes the material pretty clear and understandable. she is very helpful in her office hours so if youre struggling, definitely go see her. I would definitely take her again
Dr. Woodrum is by far the best chemistry teacher I've had. She explains things well and is extremely nice and helpful if you go in for her office hours.
Woodrum is definitely one of the best chemistry teachers in the department. She has fill in the blank notes , which helps students engage in the class. The class is still hard though
She is an awesome teacher! Extremely helpful inside and outside of class. You want her as your professor! She has mandatory attendance but class goes by quick because she is funny and lively. She is theest chemistry teacher at UK!!
Dr. Woodrum is the most amazing professor I've ever had. She genuinely cares and wants you to get an A. I was terrified to take this class initially but she made it so easy and understandable! Because of her chemistry is one of my favorite subjects! As long as you're willing to practice, you'll get an A or B. She's amazing!
Fantastic teacher. Revolve making your class schedule around getting this woman to teach you chemistry. Extremely helping during lecture and during her office hours. If you want to leave class feeling that you actually learned something, take her. #TeamWoodrum
Chemistry is horrible but Dr. Woodrom is your best shot at passing. Make your schedule around taking her. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS! She is really understanding and wants you to understand the material.
You want this teacher, simple as that. Didn't mind her 8am lecture one bit...that is saying a lot!
Took the honors section. Tests were hard by DR. W is an amazing teacher. Really retained the material and enjoyed the class
She is an AMAZING teacher! I had an awful teacher for Chem 105 and she literally changed my whole aspect of chemistry!! Makes it so relatable to the student! She truly cares that you understand. (not in honors section)
Having her as my professor made Chemistry 107 my favorite class for that semester. She makes things easy to understand, and if you are still having trouble, she is more than willing to help you further. She literally sits down with you and works through problems. AN AMAZING PROFESSOR!
Definitely one of the better chemistry professors at UK. She is very helpful if you go to her office hours.
Although I received a B in 104, that was with minimal input on my end. Could have easily pulled an A with a bit more effort. She knows what she is talking about, I wish I could take her for 105 & 107.
Doctor Woodrum is hands down one of the best college professors I have had! She is helpful in and out of class. She pushes students to do their best and provides them with the resources to do so! You need to attend class because her lectures are very important as is attendance. The book can be very helpful if you use it to do her practice problems!
Professor Woodrum is very easy to follow and quite possibly one of the best professors I've ever had. If I'd had her for 105, I probably would have pulled a better grade. She's incredibly helpful and clear and will do anything in her power to help you pass her class.
Literally the best teacher I have ever had at the college level. She bases her teaching on understanding, not just throwing random material at you and hoping you catch it. If I had had her for 105, I would've gotten an A. She taught me more in my first class with her than I ever learned in 105. Take her class. #TeamWoodrum
Dr. Woodrum is the best professor I have had yet had so far at UK. She is a very very good lecturer so you never get confused in the class.
Register for her class first! Her sections fill up very quickly! She loves chemistry, and she will make you love it. If she asks the class a question, and there's a long silence, the next person that raises their hand may get extra credit. She clarifies problems in office hours until you understand. She is funny and performs cool experiments.
Literally the best professor in the chem department. Make your schedule fit around her class. Seriously. She is so helpful, and makes sure her lectures are understandable. Her office hours are very helpful and always packed, so make sure you don't wait until the day of the test to go see her. But she's awesome in every way. #teamwoodrum
She is an Amazing Professor. She truly teaches, and gives everybody the opportunity to learn and succeed. I wish college professors were more willing to be like Dr. Woodrum. Simply the best!
Fantastic Professor, she really wants to help her students, Dr Woodrum is truly amazing.
Required to take CHE 101 even though I had already taken other chemistry so I wasn't thrilled for the class and afraid I would be bored. Dr. Woodrum took the easy information and made it really easy. The class had a lot of in class activities, which were easy, helped you learn the material and kept the class from being boring. Great professor!
Just. The. Best. She is the best Professor you will ever have. Imagine a helpful, nice, prof. who is passionate about Chemistry, who will help you until you -get- it without losing patience. She's awesome!!!
Woodrum is so wonderful! You have to still work hard and study to get an A but she will do all that she can to help. She is very clear and gives great examples that really help you understand. I had no background in chemistry but got over 100 in her class from attending all lectures and doing my part of studying and asking questions-seeking help.
One of the best professors. You can really tell she cares about her students and loves chemistry. I defiantly recommend her!
Super easy class. If you need to take a Chemistry class take CHEM 101 with Dr. Woodrum. She is so nice. She will help if you need help. She also lets people make up quizzes and test if they miss them if it wasn't on purpose. TAKE HER!
Easily the best general chemistry professor at UK. Interesting lectures, and very good at explaining. Course material is tough, but she is usually in her office, and is very helpful during office hours. If you go to her office, she truly wants to help you learn the material. Textbook is not necessary. The only material on exams is from lecture
It may be her teaching style or that the class is just hard but I did not find her help useful at all.
As long as you show up to class, you'll pass the class. Dr. Woodrum was very clear in her lectures and covers most the material in class. Anything she didn't cover, she would tell you where to find it in the book because it would most likely be on the exam. She posts lots of helpful videos online and has good office hours.
Absolutely the best prof at UK. Wish I could take her for every single class. Class starts off extremely basic then gets a tad bit more difficult but still easy class. Thank you so much Doc for inspiring me to get into Chemistry. Go to class though.
Dr. Woodrum is a great professor and really knows her chemistry. She relates the class to things that are easier to understand and constantly reminds you of deadlines and ways to succeed in the class. She is more than willing to help as long as you ask for it.
She spent a great deal of her own time creating extra videos online to help us review for tests. She is easily the best chemistry professor at U.K.
Dr. Woodrum is the best professor I have had at UK. Lectures are very clear, organized, and helpful. If you get stuck, which you will, just simply ask her for help and it will be delivered. Very knowledgeable about chemistry which makes her an excellent teacher for the course.
Pretty good teacher. Nothing fancy or special but she gets the job done. Nice, fair, clear in her lectures, gets the information you need across, not too strict but also not a total pushover. Lectures don't grab hold of you like the best of the best do, but they don't put you to sleep either. If you're considering her for CHE go for it.
Work hard and do everything she says to do and it will pay off.
Great professor who puts in the occasional joke to keep the attention of the class. If you do all of the assignments and go to class you will pass and understand the material.
Dr. Woodrum is a great professor. She always goes into detail about everything we need to know for the exam. She is very funny, energetic, and always willing to help her students.
She is a very nice lady. She gives good lectures. If she misses something in lecture she takes time out of her day to post the remainder of the info online. When you take this class do everything you can to take her, even if it's an 8am class. Chemistry is just extremely hard!
Woodrum rules. I loved her and her class. As a chem major, she only solidified my appreciation and love for chemistry. She is helpful, available for help (in class, office hours, and on piazza) and is very clear about the work that you have to do and extra things to do if you need practice
This course is difficult. Woodrum makes sure to give lots of examples and work through things in class. She always makes time for you at office hours. She is a very helpful teacher.
Super helpful, really funny, I was in the same class as one of her daughters and she has fun stories. The material is crazy hard but she helps as much as she can, she's really nice as long as you take some notes. She takes attendance using online questions and grades you on correctness, she will try to trick people who skip with the online polls.
Phenomenal teacher, for an insanely difficult class. She is one of very few options for you if you want a B or above in 107. The tests are insanely hard, but she'll prepare you for them better than any other professor for this class.
Dr. Woodrum is very helpful and usually explains things more clearly than the other professors. 107 is a difficult course so having a good professor is never a bad idea. Her office hours are amazing so go see her every chance you get. She goes out of her way to help her students. Take her or Dr. Blue if you can.
Dr. Woodrum really wants students to succeed. With chem 109 you watch lectures (on playposit) for homework and do example problems and group work during class. The other homework is on Sapling. She uses reef polling during class for attendance and participation. The only bad part of the class is exams are taken on examsoft, its a chem dept thing.
Dr. Woodrum is one of those professors who just really cares about her students. Her class is not traditional, you work in a group all year and do a lot of activities in class instead of just lecture. Theres a lot of work, but if you pay even a little bit of attention and do the assigned work its and easy A. Lots of assignments, but all are easy.
Dr. Woodrum is extremely helpful and insightful in her lecture classes. You can really tell she wants her students to succeed. As long as you keep up with your assignments, I can assure you you'll pass the class. She readily prepares you for the exams as well. Great teacher!
She is my favorite teacher I've ever had. Her teaching style is different but in a way it is very helpful. Lectures are online videos and then the class consists of group activities over the lectures. She goes deep into detail within her lectures so you can pck up a lot in them. The best way to study is to watch over videos and take notes. TAKE HER
You listen to the lectures the night before class and answer questions in them for points. She gives you a book with the ppt slides already on them so you are just filling in blanks. She explains things really well and during class will answer all of your questions and you can finish your homework for that week most of the time also with her help.
She is very good about giving information, explaining it thoroughly, and giving examples and completing them to reference. Very informative and a overall genuine person. I am currently in her class so I do not have a final grade, but getting at least a B, if not an A does not seem impossible at all if you put work into the semester.
Dr. Woodrum isn't terrible, but the class is very "teach yourself" type
Great professor. The online lectures really help because you can pause and take notes. If you do the work, you should get a good grade.
It is a flipped classroom experience but honestly it makes it better. Most of the time you work on homework in class so you are actually doing problems and are able to ask questions which makes the content way easier to learn
She is extremely condescending when you ask for help. If you go to office hours, she isnt helpful. Even after studying, the exams are still extremely hard. Avoid her if you can!
Dr. Woodrum is the greatest science teacher I have ever had. Her online lectures allow you to go back and get the help you need if you don't understand the first time. She is available multiple times per week during office hours and will answer your questions in depth. If you do the work, you will LEARN the material instead of memorizing it.
Online lectures only, which are very informational and include questions. Class time is used for group projects and participation points.
I do not enjoy chemistry and find it hard to understand (unless you count Breaking Bad), but professor Woodrum made understanding a concept a much simpler task compared to my chemistry class in high school. If you email her your availability, she more than likely will find time to speak with you if you need extra help (and can't make office hours).
Dr. Woodrum is a great professor. She teaches Chem 109 and Chem 110 so I will be taking her again this semester. She does so much to try and help her students understand and learn chemistry even if you have a bad background in it. She is the most caring professor I have ever met. She has a wonderful personality. Homework heavy, but to help you.
Dr. Woodrum is by far the best professor I have had here at UK! Her lectures are all on youtube, so instead during class, you work in groups of four on example problem that helps reinforce the material. Student interns help with answering questions. If you aren't prepared for the exams, it's your own fault! Extremely available for office hours.
It's common for Dr. Woodrum to walk around occasionally in class and ask students to get off their phones. Some students don't appreciate this, but I find it both helpful, constructive, and caring. The effort and attention Dr. Woodrum gives each student makes it hard for you NOT to learn. By far the the best teacher I've had in college.
Kim does not lecture in class, so be ready to watch online lectures. We review and do group work in class, which can be pretty effective. There are many ways to raise your grade at the end of the semester. Kim is flexible and is pretty much always willing to help. Class attendance is important, but as long as you go 75% and study you'll be fine
All lectures are videos for homework and group work and practice in class. YOU MUST COME TO CLASS. Easy to get an A if you take your notes and study learning outcomes.
She is the best chemistry professor and is the nicest person in the world
Dr. Woodrum is by far the best professor I have had in college so far. She is always available to meet and will help you in class on homework if there's time available. I went to her to go over an exam that I did not do well on at all and she was very helpful and was not judgmental. She was actually happy to see that I was reaching out for help.
This is for CHE109, it wasn't an option at the top. Kim is a great teacher. Literally all you have to do is show up, do the clicker questions, do the playposit videos AND TAKE NOTES (lots of the test questions come from those), & ask questions when needed. She's truly encouraging & cares about her students so don't be intimidated by her at all!
Dr. Woodrum is by far the best teacher I have ever had. Her style of teaching makes chemistry so easy to understand. She genuinely cares about your understanding of material and is always available for extra help. I HIGHLY recommend going to her office hours. She is a fantastic professor!! (I had her for che109 and che110)
Dr. Woodrum took me about a semester to warm up to. (Took CHE109/110). She a complete blessing for students fresh out of high school. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS, it is where I learned the most and felt comfortable building a relationship with her as a prof. (YES, this is important). I wish she taught CHE 107, I'd change my major for this woman.
Makes class simple and easy to learn
Dr. Woodrum has really helped me get through a class that I didn't think I would get through. Some people do not like her teaching style since she makes you watch her lectures on your own time before class so that you can work on what you learned during class but it helped me a lot. She really cares about her students and their well being.
Dr. Woodrum is amazing! Her style of teaching is different than most. She gives video lectures the night before and does group work in class. Go to her office hours!!! I will take her for as many classes as I can!!
Dr. Woodrum is the best professor that I have ever had. She genuinely cares about her students. Go to her office hours! I am terrible at chem, but I sat with her at office hours and she has helped me tremendously. Take her if you can!!
She doesn't lecture in class. All the lectures are playposits and you can find them all on youtube with the answers. They will bomb your grade if you don't get 10s. recitation is a joke. The tests are hard. She cares about you actually learning though. She does replacement scores from exams on the final
If it weren't for Iclicker points, going to class would be completely useless. All her lectures are given as homework, along with a ton of homework on the side. If you don't understand how to do the math, you won't pass the tests.
Class is pointless. Lots of outside of class work
I have no bad things to say about Professor Woodrum. She was absolutely amazing. The class is set up as a reverse classroom so you do short (10-20 min) lectures online which I liked because you are able to take notes and do example problems at youre own pace. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students. go to her office hours, shes great!
Kim is a great professor who really cares about the success of her students. The class is difficult but that's just chemistry in general. She makes amazing playposits that really help learn the material at your own pace.
DO NOT take Dr. Woodrum. You are required to go to lecture (where she doesn't lecture) to only waste time doing iClicker questions. She makes you watch all of the lectures online through Playposits and on top of that you have the multiple sapling homeworks to do, which take hours. I'd recommend looking elsewhere for a chemistry professor.
Her teaching style is great, you have to watch lecture videos outside of class and in class you do group work over the content which really helps you learn the content. The lecture videos are not bad. Woodrum is really friendly and lowkey a jokester. She is a great teacher and if you go to her office hours or ask questions in class you're gucci.
LOVE Kim Woodrum!I may be doing horrid in the class, (just because Chemistry will always be a hard concept for me), but I had another professor here for 110 and I literally was helpless. Kim at least gives me hope and opportunities to learn and improve. She also is such a FUN teacher!!! 20/10 recommend her! Also she sang happy birthday to me (:
Kim is an amazing professor, she really cares about student success. Her playposits can be tedious but they offer good content and is easier to follow along with rather than in class lecture. She takes feedback seriously and is very easy to talk to.
Prepare to watch lots of videos/its a flipped classroom. You learn more and are better prepared for tests with her class, but its a lot of video watching time. Very caring woman who wants students to succeed. She's good at explaining things concept-wise so just really understand the math part and you'll be good for exams.
Dr. Woodrum got me through CHE105 even though she wasn't even my teacher at the time. She posts all of her lectures online, so it's easy to go back and rewatch the material. The class is pretty difficult, so be prepared to spend about 3 hours a day studying/doing homework. Woodrum is incredibly caring and easy to talk to, I would 100% recommend.
Dr. Wooodrum teaches her 107 class very different as in you watch the lectures outside of class, and in class you do assignments to better your understanding. I like this method because I could listen to her lectures at my own pace and without distractions. This class is test heavy.
Dr. Woodrum has been one of my favorite teachers at UK. I took CHE 107 with her and her teaching style is quite unusual. She does a reverse classroom which means that she has us watch our lectures online and work on classwork during class. This allowed for us to ask questions about things we were confused on. Go to her office hours- very helpful!
Dr. Woodrum does flipped classroom for 107, which I grew to love. Her playposit lectures are amazing, shes really great at delivering the content! Definitely the best 107 professor. In class, the activities help you collaborate and learn with others or get homework help! Truly loved this structure & Dr. Woodrums positive energy!
Speaks too fast and she explains the easy questions but never the harder questions. Lots of typos in her answer sheet.
Dr. Woodrum is incredible! I feel like she really does care about the students and i know that she loves being professor. She is willing to work with anyone during office hours or class time. I took chemistry 2, its not exactly easy, you do need to put in the work. She will help you as much as you want, just go to office hours and ask questions!
I really liked Dr. Woodrum, she clearly cares about her students and does everything she can to help you. This class however is ALOT of studying, by far this is the hardest class I have EVER taken!! The exams are worth a huge portion of the grade, be ready to spend at least 10-15 hours studying for one exam to get an A.
Teacher isn't bad, just a semi-difficult class. Make sure you attend lectures and study well. Allows leniencies such as replacing exam grade with highest score from corresponding section on the final and bumping lecture video credit to a 100% as long as it is above a 75%.
Ive taken Dr. Woodrums chem classes for 2 semesters online now and shes a solid professor for difficult classes. Shes done a great job of transitioning the course online, where zoom attendance is optional but very helpful!! The content is tough but the structure of her course makes it very doable if you utilize her class structure.
Dr. Woo drum truly cares about her students and wants everyone to understand the material. She is even willing to go overtime in her office hour to help you. I would recommend asking questions in class and taking good notes. The playposits make it easy to get a good grade if you pay attention to them.
I would say she is the best professor in the chemistry department. With that said, CHE 107 isn't easy, but she sets you up for success.
Dr. Woodrum is one of the most caring professors on campus. She genuinely cares about her students and sets them up for success. The course is hard, but this is the best professor you'll ever get for it. You have to put in the work for your grade. Take advantage of her office hours and practice material
General Chemistry is overall a tough concept but Dr. Woodrum does her best to help out each of her students. Shes very caring and always willing to meet with students and talk about grades and help them out. Some of the concepts are very hard to understand and it moves quickly but she is a gem of the chem department. Pay attention and youll pass
She is effective at teaching, but relies on lecture videos outside of lecture to teach. All equations must be memorized and by the final that is two pages of equations you must know how to use, manipulate, and understand conceptually.
Professor Woodrum was nice and seemed to care about the students. Attendance in mandatory. This class is very test heavy, and with four main tests the make up a huge portion of your grade. The tests are quite difficult so make sure to do plenty of practice problems from the book. Please take notes and do practice problems and you will do well.
Dr. Woodrum is such a wonderful professor! Her video lectures are very thorough while her in class group assignments are very helpful in clearing up details and common mistakes. Of course tests are hard, it's not an easy class but she really wants you to succeed and all of my tests had a curve on them which really helped! I love Dr. Woodrum!
Dr. Woodrum is such a wonderful professor! Her video lectures are very thorough while her in class group assignments are very helpful in clearing up details and common mistakes. THE BEST ONE! Teaches everything you need to know from basics to advanced. Fair exams with good problems.
Go to office hours!!!!! It was a life saver!! She is so nice and will explain over things you do not understand, will even give multiple examples. Also go over past tests upon studying for final!!
She is incredible at giving lectures and is very helpful if you go to office hours or call her over. Would 100% recommend her for taking chemistry.
WHAT A WOMAN!!! She absolutely goes above-and-beyond. The chemistry department at UK is far from perfect, but Dr. Woodrum is like a bright light in a very dark cloudy night sky. She absolutely saved me from giving up on chemistry and my pre-professional track. Chem is NOT easy but is required for so many majors... take it with her... you'll need it
Dr. Woodrum is the best gen chem professor at UK. She uses the flipped classroom model, so class time is used to answer student questions and work in groups. However, her lecture videos are so helpful and she is always very quick to respond to emails and Piazza comments. She does everything she can to help her students succeed.
Dr. Woodrum is truly the best gen ed professor I've had. She knows this class is for people who don't like science, yet she still makes it fun. Group assignments daily, and homework pretty often, but she mixes it up. STUDY for her exams, but she is ALWAYS available to help outside of class. Taker her take her!
Great professor just difficult material. The textbook is expensive and you have to buy it. Always willing to answer questions and uses a flipped classroom style. Has multiple interns walking around helping answer questions throughout class as well.
Dr. Woodrum is one of the best professors I have ever had, if not the best. I've never in my entire academic career seen a professor explain concepts as well as she does. If you're reading this you NEED to take her for chemistry. She genuinely believes in her students and is passionate about chemistry like no one else. Amazing class.
Professor Woodrum is the best! She made me enjoy coming to class and was a leading reason for me switching to Chemical Engineering. Great lecturer and keeps you engaged well. Her reverse learning model was super helpful and she provided amazing guided notes. You cannot go wrong with her.
When taking any general chemistry class, Dr. Woodrum is the way to go. She uses the reverse classroom mechanism through playposits. I absolutely dread doing them since they are so time consuming but they help so much. Dr. Woodrum truly wants her students to succeed. CHE107 is hard, but Dr. Woodrum is the best professor that teaches the class.
She does video lectures that are assigned as homework which is either good or bad for you. I personally like them, just make sure that you can take good notes or use her student made notes which basically give you all the content to know.
Uses a 50 and 75 minute lecture to do coursework that takes you maybe 20 minutes and makes you watch 75+ minutes of *outdated* lectures on your own time for a grade.
amazing lady. truly cares about the wellbeing of her students. unfortunately, the class is just hard. put forth your best foot, ask for help, go to her office hours. i would have done better had i given it a better shot. she was not at fault. the flipped classroom model she has really make class worthwhile
Very, very kind and teaches the material well. The class is just a very difficult weed-out that most people don't finish.
while chem 105 is a difficult class, woodrum truly tries her best to make it as easy as possible. she cares about her students and focuses a lot on group work in class. she was an amazing person and professor
Best professor I have had so far. I never liked chemistry in college and this lady made me want to change my major to chemistry. Use the learning outcomes as a study guide and you will get an A. exams really arent hard if you study
Woodrum is the only chem professor that understands that chemistry is difficult, therefore she never degrades you for needing extra help. She greatly simplifies complicated subjects and will gladly explain something another way if you need. I noticed other chem professors make 107 way harder than it is, but woodrum makes it as easy as it can be.
Love her, she was an amazing prof
Shes the goat
Dr. Woodrum is the most dedicated and knowledgeable professor I've ever had. Very helpful and encourages students to attend office hours, review sessions, email, etc. This is a very hard class so if you must take it, try to get Woodrum.
She was alwaays so prepared in class and took class participation very seriously. It was a flipped classroom, which is hard, but she made it fell easy. We went in there she talked and then we did group assignments which she then went over in class to better our understand. Overall amazing teacher and person.
DO THE END OF CHAPTER PROBLEMS TO STUDY FOR EXAMS TRUSTTTT. shes awesome tho.
Although gen chem ruined my mental health, Dr. Woodrum is the only reason I didn't immediately change my major. She is a caring and excellent instructor that understands that chemistry is difficult if you haven't studied for years. if you have to take this class, take woodrum!!
Best chemistry professor
Dr. Woodrum is by far the best professor to take for any gen chem course. As someone who thought 105 was difficult, she made 107 a breeze and taught me to love chemistry. Very approachable and makes coming to class enjoyable. Although exams are difficult, enough studying will allow you to be successful in this course as long as you apply yourself.
Such a good professor. Class is hard but she makes it doable, obviously cares and wants you to do good if you put in the work and want to do good too. Easy to communicate with. 100000% recommend, I had a different professor for 105, and 107 was almost better than 105 just because of Dr. Woodrum and her teaching style.
She teaches you how to study
If you have to take any chemistry, definitely take Woodrum. She explains everything super well and cares about her students.
Dr. Woodrum is such an amazing professor. Her lectures are extremely easy to follow and she presents the topics quite well. Be ready for a bit of busy work though, as some of the videos can be very long as well as the achieves.
Dr. Woodrum is widely known as the best chem professor at UK. Chemistry at UK is HORRIBLE, but she does a great job at explaining everything.
Dr. Woodrum was a fabulous professor, the class was lowkey a struggle however her lectures were very helpful and she would make time for you if you ever needed help. Make sure to stay on top of work and studying but as long as you do that you should be fine.
Dr. Woodrum is an amazing lecturer and explains everything well. She really encourages you to try and take the time to understand concepts instead of memorizing them. If CHE105 is your first science class, this will really teach you how to study more effectively, don't cram everything the night before it won't work lol.
Professor Kim Woodrum is a great professor. Lectures are just group practices of the videos we have to watch before class. Exams are easy with more than 5 old exams being given for practice from previous years.
Dr.Woodrum is a good professor especially for chem. However, a majority of time I spent actually learning the material for this class was outside of lecture time. The video lectures and past exams are way more helpful than the in class attendance mandatory "lectures" where there is a few problems asked on iclicker that take way less time than given
