She's awesome and easy. Doesn't take attendance, but there are in class assignments, and bonus points for showing up given on random days. Lecture isn't too dull- she tries to make it interesting, and it shows that she really loves what she does.
This professor is AWESOME. I had her at 8am, and only fell asleep once during one of several movies. She is energetic, and passionate about what she teaches. Makes the material easy to comprehend to those of us who are NOT biology majors!! Eas tests, and assignments. Group work in class.
Basically she's really nice and is really interested in her field. The tests are super easy and if you do well on the first 3 tests, you don't even have to take the final! I'd recommend her to all.
Fun lab...barely ever lasts the whole time, she's very energetic and giggly, great class and you learn a lot. Tests aren't bad, just review the labs you did beforehand.
pretty fun labs. She is very laid back and is eager to help if you need it.
Favorite Prof this semester! very helpful. easy tests. No Final!
Way easy. Never studied got an A. She really likes to teach. Never any homework and NO FINAL!! Just go to class for participation pts.
I really liked this professor, she makes it easy and knows what she's talkin about. Cares about her students. Only bad thing was I had her at 8 in the morning so it was hard to stay awake.
She is a fun professor! She really helps you out alot and makes it fun to learn. she is very energetic and is always smiling. You can tell that she loves what she teaches and it sometimes will rub off on her students. The labs are fun and easy and the tests are fairly easy also.
she is great, never studied got a B+, no final, classes go by quick, she loves teaching and it definitely rubs off on you, labs were easy and sometimes fun, great atmosphere, highly recommended
Very friendly. Wants everyone to achieve well. Labs are easy...she helps out everyone. Need to read lab manual carefully to do well on tests. All and all an easy A/B.
She is very energetic and passionate about what she does. she knows exactly what she's talking about, but she doesn't expect you to know it before she teaches it. very good about going over material that will be on tests. highly recommend!!

wow, not at easy as it seems. tests are super hard and class is a bore. if your not a science perosn, dont take this class...it will not benefit your GPA.
This class was interesting and easy. Kim wants everyone to do well and is very helpful with any questions.
Great teacher, really nice. Will give you all the help you need, but the class can be tough sometimes. She really tries to keep you interested though. She does fun stuff and a lot of activities that aren't hard at all.
Class was much more difficult than it needed to be. She's a very smart professor who knows her stuff. She moves pretty fast through the material & teaches off powerpoints. No matter what I did, couldnt get above a C on her tests. Class avg= 75%..doesnt that say something?
Extremely helpful... easy daily labs, 3 tests, no final... tests tended to be a little difficult without much studying, compilation of short answer, T/F, matching, and multiple choice. I would recommend her.
I thought that she was a great professor. She is always willing to help you out and the tests are not hard if you study for them. She is very clear and we watched some very interesting movies. I would say take her for sure!!
Professor Cline-Brown is very fun and energetic. The class is interesting and you learn a lot. The tests can be difficult if you do not study. Go to class and do the easy daily exercises and you will do fine in the class. A total of three tests and a final (optional). I would take her again!
I think she is a wonderful lady but I didn't think her lectures were that helpful... I thought the tests were pretty hard - I just would have loved a study guide!! Lots of information, no way to narrow it down... Never missed a class, tried really hard and didn't do as well as i thought... never any extra credit... hope you are a good test taker!
I'm not a science or math person at all, and since I took her as a Gen Ed, she keeps in mind that not everyone will follow if she complicates things, I found her class to be easy to follow. Tests were hard, but the class kept my interest.
This teacher is wonderful if you are not interested in science. Her tests are easy if you study for about an hour, no more. She is so helpful, and she just lights up when students ask her questions. I recommend her if you want an easy A for a gen ed!
Oh my god, she is the nicest professor i have ever met on this campus! the class itself is designed to be pretty easy if you go to lab. This class is an easy A or B depending on how much work you put into it. The tests are hard if you dont study your lab book and didnt go to labs, but if you did then youll get at least a B on them. Great professor!
enthusiastic and loves to help. engaging and fun. shows movies before tests, and has in-class assignments. attendence isn't required, but are graded for the assignments and don't have an opportunity to make them up if class was missed. tests aren't bad, but you need to study. best science class so far :)
Pretty easy professor, attendance isn't mandatory but you take notes almost every day. No study guide for the 3 tests, but if you just study all the notes you'll be fine.
really nice professor, easy directions, fun labs and if you review the notes from her short lectures for the test this class is an easy A.
By far the best professor I have ever had. She is so interested in the students understanding all material. She explains things very well and makes sure everybody understands. She is VERY good at helping you if you need help. 3 tests, semester final is optional but it can replace your worst test. Class is not mandatory as long as you get notes
Easy class, she explains things very well and if she doesn't know she looks it up and emails you the answer. book not used much at all. i would take it with her again!
She is AMAZING!!! Even if you hate biology, I HIGHLY recommend taking Life: Continuity and Change with Cline-Brown. She makes class very fun, enjoyable, and educational. You have to study for the tests, but the book is not necessary. I never cracked the book, but I got an A! It's a great class and is a lot of fun!!
Attendance is not mandatory, but if they do an in class assignment, you can't make it up.Tests are OKAY. Have to study.Yes you need the book bc there is a cd with it,but the actual reading in the book isn't needed. 4 tests, group activities, final is optional but lowest test score will be dropped if final is better than others. Final IS comprehensive
She's a great teacher. Makes a boring subject interesting. Easy to follow. 4 Tests and Optional Final. If you decide to take the final and get a better score she'll drop your lowest score. Tests are tough but if you study the unit goals they aren't bad. I would definitely take another class with her.
Great professor. She loves teaching and it shows. I loved the class and loved listening to her explain the material. Tests were easy, study though and you will be fine. Take this class with Cline-Brown if you can and you won't regret it.
She's a good teacher. The class is about as difficult as a high school science class. Most material is review from HS so even if you don't study much you should still get a B. Her power points can be hard to take notes from and she's really awkward talking about the reproductive system, but really good overall
Cline-Brown obviously enjoys teaching and teaches in a way that relates to students as a whole, rather than Biology majors. She has 4 tests and an optional final, all of which are mildly difficult, but they won't kill you. In-class assignments pop up at random as well.
Great professor. Shows a passion for teaching and applies labs to college kids in an interesting and fun way, even for non-bio majors. 3 fairly difficult tests but managable. Lab manual is step by step and extremely helpful. Great class.
She loves to laugh at herself. good teacher. take 5 test and drops the lowest score which makes the final optional.
Great teacher. She was extremely nice and extremely helpful. I hated science in high school, and I can't even begin to explain everything I learned from her in this lab. Study well for the first test! I went in having not studied much, and didn't do too well. It's a lot of non multiple choice, but I was grateful I took this with her.
She is very helpful. Tests aren't too bad if you put in the time studying for them. Overall a pretty good professor, I would recommend her.
Dr. Cline-Brown is a great professor. I hated science in high school but she made it as interesting as possible for a non-major. Notes are on a slide show that you can print out so you're not spending the whole time writing. 5 test (including the final) with the lowest score dropped, which makes the final optional. Highly recommend.
She's a really good teacher and overall a really easy class. Attendance isn ot mandatory but you have surprise in class activities (can only be done in class). Take notes from what she says, and take advantage of her slides and should get an A :)
Ms. Cline-Brown does her best to create an environment suitable for learning. She is an amazing teacher! I had her for my Biology Lab and she made all of the labs fun and interesting, even to me as a non Biology major. I highly recommend her as a teacher.
Dr. Cline-Brown was a great teacher. I do not typically enjoy science classes, but she made the class fun. If you study for her tests you will do fine. You can pass the class with an A if you attend class and put in a little effort. She is very helpful and will answer any questions you have.
She's a very helpful teacher. She knows what she's talking about and answers questions clearly. There are 5 tests and she drops your lowest score. There are also in-class assignments so it's a good idea to go to class because she doesn't announce when they will be and she covers a lot of stuff that isn't in the powerpoints she puts on elearning.
Great professor. Knows what she is talking about and does a great job of explaining everything and relating it to everyday life. The tests are not difficult with time and preparation. Highly recommend her for this class!
Very nice professor, you can tell she really cares about her students! Not too bad of a class, just make sure you attend the outside class workshops, that killed my grade by not going! If you study the material tests won't be that bad! She made class very interesting, highly recommended!
One of my favorite professors. There are 5 tests, and she drops the lowest score. No outside assignments, besides occasional readings and studying. In-class assignments are simple, though she is a tough-grader; make your answers very specific and you will be ok. She is very passionate about biology and makes it interesting. If you can, take her!
Dr. Cline-Brown is an excellent professor, and the class isn't that difficult. You do have to study before exams but she gives really good notes and if you study them you'll do fine. Four exams plus the final and she drops the lowest score, so if you do really well on the first four you don't have to take the final.
She explains the material clearly & thoroughly. She posts pre-class worksheets that are not graded but really help you follow along if you do them. 5 tests & the last one is dropped. The final exam was extremely broad & general information. Didn't buy the book, she posts everything needed on elearning.
Kimberly Cline-Brown is an amazing professor. I took the lab course with her and I wish I would have taken the lecture course with her as well. Her tests are really easy to prepare for and she is so helpful and willing to answer questions during class! She is extremely nice and very funny! Loved her as a professor.
I hate biology but she made me like biology. She was a very caring professor and even though her lectures could be boring at times, I thought that all of the stuff she put on her slides were very helpful for the tests. The tests weren't awful either, kind of what you expect.
Kim is a truly great prof to take a bio lab with. She cares and tries to make the non majors understand how the topics can relate to them. She makes what could be a hard, boring class, fun and relatively easy.
Dr. Cline-Brown really knows how to explain biology simply for us non-science majors. I surprisingly enjoyed this class even though I was dreading it.
Dr. Cline-Brown makes Biology easy to understand, and is great at answering any questions you may have. As long as you attend class, get the group assignments done in class, and study for the exams, you'll pass. I would highly recommend taking Life: Continuity and Change with her!
Dr. Cline-Brown makes Biology easy to understand. I'm not a science major by any stretch and I totally loved her class. She made the concepts easy and gave tons of examples to make stuff easy to remember. If you show up to her class its easy to pass, if not its way harder I would imagine. Highly recommended!
Dr. Cline-Brown is a wonderful professor to have for beginner's biology. She makes the subject easy to understand and always opens for the floor for questions. Make sure you study though! I did very well on the homework, but wasn't too hot on quizzes so make sure you do the notes and pay attention!
Dr. Cline-Brown loves teaching non-majors, so definitely take her for a LAC requirement. I got to know her really well in office hours, and she loves helping you individually outside of class and her regular office hours time if needed. Wonderful professor. The tests are specific but there is no final, so it evens out. Cannot recommend her enough.
Her classes are interesting and I am not usually bored in her class. She is very helpful and loves feedback. She explains things pretty well, but she's also available if you need extra help. I would definitely take another class with her.
The class setup is clear and Professor Cline-Brown keeps everyone updated on what is due. Read through the textbook and watch the supplied videos, you should do just fine!!
Great professor. It is obvious that she is passionate about science, and she is very helpful and understanding with non-science major students. Labs are fun and interesting, tests require quite a bit of studying but are do-able.
Dr. Cline-Brown is super passionate about teaching, and loves to teach nonmajor biology classes. While her notes are kind of all over the place, they have all the right info on them so I just rewrote them myself. She makes things really easy to understand. I would definitely recommend her.
Love her, she makes labs so fun. She is a bit of tough grader for lab book. Never had homework, everything can be done in class, but suggest studying for test, she will tell you exactly what will be on it.
Prof Cline-Brown is a great professor! I am terrible at science and got an A-. She drops your lowest test score including the final so I didnt even take it. Lots of assigned reading but I found it was a waste of time so stopped fairly early in the semester. Great choice of teacher
Most organized professor I have had yet.
Tough course for 1000 level
The test are super hard. She does not treat this as an into level bio class.
The class was okay, The lectures are where all the information is minus one or two questions from the book
She is a great professor and she explains the content super well. I hardly had to study outside of class because she did such a good job explaining the material in class. She funny and has a lot of energy and she does a great job at answering your questions.
Doesn't take attendance but if you dont go you'll miss a lot of info. Has slides to print off but you fill in blanks so go to lecture. Great at explaining material in class. The textbook isn't that necessary, just go to her office hours to explain it. Tests worth a lot of points but one is dropped. Never homework but assignments in class.
I took the Bio 1014 Lecture for my First Year Only class at UNI, Kimberly made the class so easy and fun to go to. She did her best to make sure everyone understood what was being discussed. I think shes one of the most caring professors at UNI and would be VERY willing to help you. She also gives a weather report at the end of every lecture!
Cline-Brown is the nicest, most caring professor you'll ever meet. Tough grader, but always willing to help if you don't understand something. You must know the material inside and out to do well on tests. 5 Exams and she drops your lowest score. Random in-class homework, so make sure to show up to class. You can tell she loves what she does.
Dr. Cline-Brown is a fine professor. She clearly cares about her content. This course is the biology lecture, so be prepared for lectures w/ small-group work. Study well for the tests, they're not super difficult, but also not something you can completely blow off until last minute. Didn't use the textbook, but also got a B. Your call.
Does a lot of in-class assignments and you have to be pretty specific if you want to get full points. All info. is on powerpoints and I used my book for vocab. She kind of rushes through powerpoints at times so I also used the book if I didn't quite understand something. Overall, she is a great professor and always happy!
Not sure if it was just our TA but our stuff was really roughly graded. The group projects are honestly the stupidest thing ever and you all have to agree on one answer.. I survived the course without really using my book and my B- isn't that bad. The tests have some stuff from the book but as long as you pay attention to lectures you;ll do great.
Dr. Cline-Brown truly cares about her students. The book isn't a must-have, but there are about 3 questions on the tests that come from the book. Don't skip because you do a lot of in class assignments, and she won't tell you when they are. Her class can be a lot of work for some, but I've heard she is way better than others who teach this course.
This biology course will likely cover material you learned in high school. Because of this, a lot of information might sound familiar, which definitely makes the class easier. However, the exams cover a lot of material and solid studying will be needed. Show up to class, take good notes, and ask questions when needed; she's good with responses.
She's a nice professor who you can tell cares about her students. Her exams are difficult, and she does not offer any extra credit or curving of any sort. There are a few in class assignments, four exams, and a final. She drops your lowest test score which is nice. Have to go to class for notes. Overall nice, but makes you work hard.
I took this online, but she sets very clear expectations of you for the semester. I wouldn't say this class is easy, but it's not bad. She is very knowledgable and knows what she is talking about. Homeworks are pretty easy and tests are only over 1 or 2 chapters. Final is cumulative.
She provides you with many resources and amazing lectures/powerpoints to follow along. There is homework almost every week but it's to help you understand the concepts. If you watch the lectures and do the homework, (you don't need to study), the tests/quizzes are a breeze. I used the book for some things to look up but not much.
Prof. Cline-Brown was a nice lady, but I don't think she was focused on the content. The Ponopto videos were nice, but in Zoom meetings she was more focused on other things rather than talking about the content which got annoying after a while. It felt like she was more worried about "college life" than the actual Biology part. Quite Difficult.
Took this class with her and it wasn't that difficult just A LOT of matieral and stuff to get done. She doesn't like when you email her if you haven't looked at the syllabus yet.
Take her online biology lab! I was nervous for this lab online, but it's actually been really enjoyable and manageable. Sometimes we do interactive/hands-on activities, but other times we just read through the lab manual and interpret the data. Tests are super easy if you do your weekly readings.
Dr. Cline-Brown has been amazing! I took her online Biology lab class this semester, and she did an amazing job at organizing class content in a clear and concise way. She is very available to help students whenever they have questions. She's very knowledgeable about Biology, and an overall GREAT professor!
At home labs were pretty cool Lab reports with group are OK if you read lab manual Open quiz due every Friday Mini lectures to watch and labs to read 3 Exams no final Exams are tricky if you dont do readings Dont lose points if experiment goes wrong as long as you email Stickler for due dates Be thorough on lab reports! Overall pretty fun class
I'm sure Prof. Cline-Brown is great in person, but... my God... Macmillan Learning/Achieve is horrible. What was wrong with Blackboard? Why do we need two? Let alone have to pay for access to the site. Assignments hide like they're in a haystack, the interface sucks, it all makes an already difficult core material even harder. I hate Achieve.
I loved taking Kim Cline's biology class! I think she is the best biology professor at UNI. She loves what she does and cares about her students. She does a pretty good job at explaining concepts and her class is interesting. Would definitely take a class with her again!
Dr Brown is awesome. You can tell she loves her job. The labs were so much fun! Take her for this class or any class.
Genuinely cares about teaching. Most of the labs were surprisingly fun even for someone who cannot understand science at all lol. Did help my understanding of content very well but I wish we met more than once a week
Very sweet! If attend class and ask questions you will do well. She wants you to pass.
I loved taking this class. Dr. Cline-Brown truly cares for each student's success. There were 4 regular unit exams and the final exam but she lets you drop your lowest exam score which is great! I truly learned so much in this course and I would recommend her to everyone!
Very nice lady. You can tell she is very intelligent and loves what she does. Not the easiest class, but as long as you take the time to study outside of class before exams you will pass. Fun class if you love science. She also drops your lowest exam score, so if you are happy with your grade before finals, you don't have to take her final.
Loved attending this lab. She gave us plenty of time to complete it and didn't make me feel bad for asking questions. You can tell she genuinely cares about teaching. The labs were surprisingly fun and what math we had to do was simple.
BIO1013 is a lot of fun if you like hands on work, but be prepared to remember it when it comes time to take a test over it! She will help students understand the labs but once you test over multiple labs from weeks before things can get kinda confusing if you don't remember what you learned.
I am a business major and LCC with Cline-Brown was fairly easy. She makes it interesting because she knows that not many people who take it are passionate about biology. Exams were all MC and difficult to study for, but if you pay attention during lecture you'll be fine. The final was optional and lowest exam score is dropped.
I was surprised to see all the good ratings after my experience with this professor. You would only actually talk to this professor if you messaged first. It is all lectures and then quizzes. Never reached out to students the entire semester.
Prof Brown is great! Her online class is set up with video lectures that review material you read in the textbook, and she provides slides to print off so you can be proactive with her lecture. Test questions are directly from BOTH the textbook and her lectures. 10/10 recommend her class, only put in 3hrs max a week besides testing weeks.
Very nice and energetic person. She makes her lectures engaging and you can tell she cares about her students and loves her job. It is a decently difficult course but what we learn is extremely interesting. Tests are hard, it is a good idea to read the textbook. She is very organized and wants you to be successful. Drops one exam at the end.
She has lots of experiences in biology. I'm bad at Bio so I struggled a bit, but with studying I was able to feel confident fairly easily. Her tests were very specific and weren't usually things I studied though. The in class assignments were able to raise my grade. This teacher really cared if we all understood the topic.
Professor Brown is so nice! She genuinely loves what she is doing and cares about her students so much. She wants you to ask questions and she wants to help! She knows not everyone loves science, so she ensures her labs are interesting. Attendance is mandatory because making up a lab is hard. Overall, I recommend her.
I really appreciated Dr. Cline-Brown's class! She makes science fun, interesting, and easy to understand. She brightens up any room and I would always look forward to the labs! Group work for the labs and 3 exams, highly recommend!
She is a super caring teacher who is there to help you succeed in her classes and in general. All the exams were online and taken outside of class. She does make you do outside readings and content from them is on the exams. If you ever miss a class there are videos posted about every topic. She also drops your lowest exam score.
This class was one of my easiest all semester! The exams were online and if you do well on the unit exams you can miss the final. The only days you technically need to come to class is when there is an assignment. There are online videos that she provides if you miss a day. Overall, she is a super caring professor and wants you to do well!
This professor cares about her students' success not just in the class but in college in general. She is very helpful and keeps in mind that the people in this class are not science majors. All of her tests are online and multiple choice.
Great and interesting bio class. Cline always makes class fun and lectures are fun. However, sometimes her lectures or lab instructions went very fast and its easy to fall behind if your not paying attention. DO NOT MISS LAB CLASS>
She is awesome! She really cares about her students and it's usually a freshman class so she understands that it's going to be tough at first. The exams were online and as long as you reviewed everything and have a good study guide, you should be fine. I wouldn't say this is an easy A because you have to study but def not hard
Kim is AMAZING. She is so knowledgeable and passionate about her content. She can be a bit of a tough grader but is clear about what she is looking for. She is always willing to answer questions and makes biology so engaging and fun. She has a great sense of humor. She cares about getting to know you as a person and wants to help you grow.
Professor Cline-Brown is great. Quick to respond to emails and her grading criteria is very clear. My class only had online worksheets that were all multiple choice and exams. I don't understand Biology very well, but her Panopto videos explained content in an easy to understand way.
Dr. Cline-Brown is a great professor. She cares about her students and wants them to understand the content. Lectures are easy to follow and take notes on, and she provides materials to study with on Blackboard. She assigns readings in the textbook for you to study/take notes, but otherwise you do not use the book. If you're confused, ask her!
Proff gave a good background on a lot of subjects and has very clever ways of remembering and teaching things. I wouldn't take the class again but I would take another class from her. Teachers does not show favorites and truly wants all their students to succeed.
I took the Life: Continuity & Change lecture online with her and absolutely loved it. She posts the readings, which aren't long, and it's super easy to keep track of assignments. I absolutely recommend taking this course with her, online or in-person.
Professor Cline-Brown is clear from the beginning on what will happen throughout the course. I found this very helpful in preparing for each class. There are five exams including the final, but she drops your worst grade if you take all the exams. There are also plenty of in-class assignments that you can do with a group to help improve your grade.
Dr. Cline-Brown scared me at first but I promise she's not as mean as her emails make her sound. She's super passionate about biology and I learned so many cool things while in her lab. The labs made me think but I did well on all of them and the few tests she gives are super easy. Be careful about missing class, she's pretty strict about makeups.
I truly enjoyed her lectures. There are a total of 5 exams, including the final, but she drops the lowest score. All the homework is completed during class, with three attempts allowed. As long as you use the Quizlets she provides and pay attention in class, it will be an easy A. She also gives extra credit opportunities.
I would love to take her again. She genuinely cares about the lab that students do, and she is extremely approachable. I would definitely study hard for the first exam, as it is a difficult one. As long as you take notes and use the guidebook, you'll be aye-okay :)
Dr. Cline-Brown is very caring and wants you to succeed. If you have any questions at all she is more than willing to go over material with you, whether it's in or out of class. As long as you come prepared to class and pay attention you should be fine.
This class was lecture heavy but they weren't too bad. She explains everything well and has only a few assignments and exams. Also drops your lowest exam score at the end.
wasn't a fan
For A&P 1, she was awesome and made sure everyone understood the topics. When studying, use the objectives and you'll be fine. She answers questions great and send out an email restating it so everyone gets it, has activities to understand topics better. she has recorded lectures if you miss class, exams average 70 questions.
I like this professor. She is nice and explain very well, has an in class assignment where you can do it with someone or alone, doing the in class assignment will make it easy. Would recommend professor.
