Study hard and the read the book if you want to pass any test!
AWESOME! She makes the class fun, interesting and self-relevant. Go to class and review notes, you shouldn't have a problem with the class.
Great teacher, captivating lectures. The tests are very thorough and the content may only come straight from the book. Make sure you don't miss too much class!

What a ball of energy she is! Very enthusiastic teacher. She gives thorough study guides that take some time to fill out, but they will help you on her tests, which cover a lot of material. Also, you are assigned a research paper and need to know APA format. I liked the class.
This teacher is fast paced, but if you ask for help she will take time to help you. Her lectures are interesting because she adds personal experiences and humor into them. I would suggest her class to anyone who is willing to earn their grade
Study, attend class, take notes and study some more. Getting a good grade in this professors class is not easy, but it's not impossible either
She's very liberal...awesome though! She really makes the class discussions interesting!
By the wa, her last name is now Glackin. Anywho, Kim is an awsome teacher who knows her stuff, from all of her previous work experience she is able to teach her class and relate its principles to experiences she has encountered. A genuine woman and a helpful and caring teacher. By the way watch for her knee high boots cause "these boots are made for walkin" and don't forget to ask about praising the Freud doll.
Very helpful, very interesting. The best teacher I've had at the school yet. Loved the class. You have to be willing to study for the tests, though.
Knows her stuff! Take good notes and study; you'll have to work harder for your grade, but it's worth it. Her lectures keep you interested and help concepts to stick.
She's an amazing professor and funny as hell!
Mrs. Glackin keeps class fun. I don't know a single teacher from high school that was as nice. She seems real.
She is such an amazing teacher! You really learn, and she tests your knowledge, but she encourages class participation, which makes it more fun. If you take good notes and study, you will do just fine. And have a great time doing it.
This is seriously one of the most amazing teachers I've ever had. You will have to work hard, but she makes the class so fun, and you get points for class participation. If you get a chance, definitely take her.
Loved this class - wish I could take it again.
I had this professor online. Her syllabus was totally unclear, her helpfulness when I had questions about her test answers were unclear. I had an overall bad experience with this professor as an online instructor. Maybe it would have been different in person.
Probably one of the best teachers i've ever had. I enjoy coming to class everyday. She actually makes coming to school worth it.
Super fast pace class. She covers an insane amount of info in a short time. I am taking the class online and the syllabus is hard to follow. There is a quiz every week and an exam every three weeks. You also have two assignments due every week. I am getting an A right now but it has not been easy.
her class was not that bad i enjoyed her class .. i learned alot but once its all crammed in my head i did for get alot of it the final was online and we had a chance to go to her office and get notes to use for test shes a very nice teacher . and i think if there was a little more work and more assignments i would of done a little better
I took this course online and had difficulty keeping up with the workload. She was easy to communicate with though. Would not recommend unless you have the time she addresses in the syllabus-8 hours per week!
Started her Psych243 class online. Syllabus contains conflicting instructions. When asked her questions to clarify, just received a condescending attitude. Perhaps she is a more positive in-person instructor, but I would not waste my time or $$$ to find out. Dropped this class for a refund! Plan on taking with a different prof!
She is a really nice person to be around and I love listening to her lectures, but the quizzes we have to take are completely off from her lectures and nothing between the book and her match up. I have no clue what or how to study. Its crazy!
i like the class and enjoy the teacher. its just btween being a high skool student, maintaining a job, and everything else, i didnt hav time for the readings and the quizzes and exams were ridiculously hard. but it is fun in her class! just wish there was more time n btween everything else and it wasnt so crowded n the little amount of time we have
I have just completed her psyc 140 online class super easy to follow well planned and structured. However if you are not the self-discipline type that can follow a very detailed syllabus on your own don't waste your time and money! Luv'd It!!
Great instructor! Difficult class, must read the book and take good notes in order to get a good grade in the class. This is the second class I have taken from her, and I have learned a LOT! Well worth it, if you have time to read the text.
Amazing teacher. This class is extremely fast paced though, and a lot of info is crammed in. you must read the chapters and take notes or you will fail miserably. i got an A but had to work my butt off. She is very helpful and answers any questions. Wish I would have taken other classes with her!!
She def. knows how to keep her student's interest. Class is fun and she makes what you are learning in the book relevant to real life. She is hard but the best teachers are the ones who teach you to LEARN. YES you will have to read, YES you will have to study! I got an A, & I feel very proud to have earned it from her class. GET A STUDY GUIDE!!!!!!
I took the Online Class - Nice teacher, but her quizzes and tests are extremely difficult to study for. Her quiz/test questions like riddles. Discussion boards consist of writing a paper every week. If you like to be 'Criss Angel-ed'(mind freaked), this is the class to take! DO NOT take this class unless you can make a lot of time to study!
I cannot understand how this woman has a teaching job. This is one of the worst classes I have ever had. The sylabus and assignments are unclear and the lectures don't line up with the tests at all. She once went on a rant actually said that the defining characteristic about mollusks is that they all live in the shells of other animals. WHAT?! Dumb
She's a very good and funny lecturer. You will never fall asleep in her class. She actually makes psychology interesting and makes you want to learn about it. Make sure you take good notes in class, and make sure you order the extra study guide book. Her handwriting is very hard to read.
This teacher gives good lectures, but the lectures aren't really for learning as more for lightly going over what you should've read. You will be married to your book and you need to buy the study guide. The quizzes are hard but the tests are not as bad but still not a cake walk. I'd think there are easier psych teachers out there.
She was kind of all over the place and tests and quizzes made me think WHAT????? point system is unfair
Ms. Glakin is very good at the use of examples in her explanation and it really helps to retain the lectures.
I am taking her class online and feel that her instructions can be unclear. The quiz and test questions can be a lot like riddles, answers you wont find in the book but are assumptions of what you've read. Some questions are even wrong, and I have to message her and prove that I was correct, and worry she is hard on me now because I do that.
I got 1 good test score, but they are getting lower. I'v been a full time student for years, and this is 1 of the hardest.
This professor was one of the most difficult people I have ever had to work with. I took her internet class, and she refused to accommodate uncontrollable technological errors. She was unreasonable, vague, and accusatory. I could go on and on, but bottom line is that I had an awful experience with this professor. STAY AWAY from her if possible!
This was the worst on-line experience I have ever had and I have been a student for quite a long time. The information tested over was not in power points, notes or the textbook. I have held a 4.0 GPA for 3 years and dropped this class after receiving a F on the test I read material for 4 times. Stay away from this one.
I was surprised by all the negative comments she's received in the past, but it seemed that they were from online classes. Her "in person" lectures were so fun! It was like going to a comedy show, very entertaining and very informative at the same time. I've recommended her class to friends and family. I rec taking Bio 101 & Psych b4 taking this.
Glackin is one of the WORST teachers at Blue River. Don't take her. You will NOT pass. Her lectures are interesting but they have nothing to do with the tests. oh and her husbands a lawyer and she won't let you forget it!Good luck, you will need it!
responds to email, friendly to me in/out of class, perfect lectures, calls us "babe"&I wanted to call it back, rubbed my cold hands&said "you need gloves," the quizzes are rough, didn't get my jokes, gave advice to me for major, was playful toward me, got my first B but she just wants someone to wow her which is fair. Overall, I liked her.
Mrs.Glackin is a wonderful teacher. Her lectures are very good, fun and easy to follow. She is great at answering any questions you may have. You wont get a passing grade if you don't read the book and the study guide, but that should be expected. If you have a heavy load of classes don't take her, but if you have the time you will love her class!
Glackin is a fantastic instructor. She is so helpful and will not hesitate to stop whatever she is doing to talk with you anytime. Her lectures also correspond with the lesson perfectly- just show up to class & read your book. You must work hard to pass but if you are a baby about having a workload, you should probably reconsider attending college.
After looking at my previous comment, I saw my comment about her that she "didn't get my jokes." That came out wrong, because I was thinking of a goofy handout that I gave for holidays. She joked with me all of the time. A semester's gone by now, and I I look back on her class and remember a lot of the things taught. I like her.
Mrs. Glackin is AMAZING! That is all.
She seems hard at first, but she is actually a brillant teacher, forcing you to comprehend the content. Read and re-read the assigned modules. The study guide and textbook website's practice quizzes are the key to success. You must be willing to put out effort. She will entertain and enlighten beyond your expectations. Highly recommend!
She is a teacher that is very bad at giving instructions. She tells you that you can use your textbook and notes on the final exam but then accuses the whole class of cheating because you do good on it.
She doesn't reply to email's for a couple weeks. Double check test grade with answers. You will write a novel with her lecture notes, and go home to read 5 chapters in your book. She's not helpful, she doesn't go by what she says at all. ALOT of random stopping in middle of class to talk about something completely off topic.
After taking lots of online courses over the course of 3 years, I LOVE a teacher that lets you go at your own pace. Had deadlines but could work ahead, which over the summer was perfect. Not a hard class at all compared to other online, writing intensive classes; and she answered all messages in a timely manner. Even offers extra credit!!
Best teacher I ever had. I took this class a year ago and am still using the information she taught me. I think everyone should have to take this course. You have to read the textbook and go to class. I recorded her lectures because she was hilarious and everything I learned was so applicable. I recommend taking intro psych and biology before.
Absolutely terrible teacher. Extremely rude and vague. She pretends she does everything she can to help you. But in reality she doesn't do anything. If you want to work hard all semester just for her to shoot you down This is the teacher for you.
I love Professor Glackin! She is not easy, but you will remember the information because her lectures are interesting. Her tests are right out of the book and class is never boring!
Kimberly is a wonderful teacher. She is friendly and down to earth which made it easy to go to her if I had any questions on anything in class. She responded quickly to all emails and was eager to help. Take good notes in class . her lectures are very informative and will be helpful in studying for your tests.
Glackin is a great professor. This class is textbook heavy so do not neglect it. She gives a lot of hints during her lecture as to what will be on the tests. Also the Study Guide book, that goes along with your textbook, gives you answers to questions on the tests. Just pay close attention and it isn't too bad.
Summer online psych 140 general level class, I think not. Be prepared for a 3 credit hour class that takes 5 credit hours worth of work. 80+ pages to read a week with 100+ questions after. Two tests a week with 35 questions each. Two discussion board posts with cited sources and 2-3 paragraphs each week. And 2 quizes or learnsmart activ. wtf
I loved this professor! She made the material interesting and easy to understand. I wish she taught more classes so I could take her again
Her teaching style and the new book do not mesh well. The tests were impossible. I spent hours in the textbook, which was online, and still the tests were impossible. Be prepared when you write anything for this class. You will be graded as if she were an English teacher. I would recommend you look elsewhere for this class credit.
HILARIOUS, yet scary syllabus! If you don't participate, or miss a few classes you will likely not succeed. Reading is fundamental - don't go for suggested reading material take in the WHOLE chapter and take good notes. Clear grading criteria, and fair grader. Wonderful class, learned a lot, and would take another course taught by Mrs. Glackin!
The lectures in class mean nothing on the test. The reading you have to do outside of class is what your graded on. Which is hard to understand. She won't let you forget her husband is a lawyer and she told us she got trained on in high school.
Learning units are set up nicely. A lot of busy work, but its useful when studying. Tests are tough, but not impossible. READ the textbook. Very interesting class, I plan on taking more classes with this semester.
She is a very positive, and happy teacher. She is very interested in what she is teaching. You will need to take notes, study your notes, and read your book after each class. The tests include both, and because I didn't read my book often I got an average grade. Her class is very interesting, but of course that is because my major is in psychology.
By far the worst thus far in my college career. She submitted to the school that I had not been attending (when I had been, and even had graded work) which caused me to lose my financial aid. I eventually got it worked out, but it took days and a huge headache. Rarely responds to messages and gave me 0 pts for assignments I turned in.
I am taking the online course so I am not sure if she is different in class. There is a TON of work. 3 quizzes, and Exam, a discussion board (which had to have citations) and a lengthy assignment every 12-14 days. Tests and Quizzes are timed and you are not allowed to change an answer once you go to the next one. Be prepared to have a lot to do!!!!
I loved taking her course, the class was fun and entertaining despite being a morning course. She wasn't too over ecstatic, or droning at all. Her passion toward psychology really boosted moral in the room and kept it alive, and it helped that she had a career previously with hospitals. Makes you work for the grade, effort needed.
I recommend her as a teacher. She is fun and smart and knows her subject very well.
The pros the reading material is interesting and you learn a lot. cons expect to read A LOT !, the tests were not very clear majority of the time. When you ask for help you were told that the assignments in the textbook were there to help.
She's an amazing teacher with a funny personality and honest. Best teacher and no essays!!!
Awesome professor! Her class can be a little tough, but it's so worth it to take her. She loves and cares for her students. There were always at least a couple extra credit questions on each test, we got a 5x8 note card for the final, & she makes the class very interesting. Wish I would have taken her for general psych too.
She was an amazing teacher, my favorite so far. I was always looking forward to her class and she kept me laughing and interested the whole time. Definitely recommend.
I just don't understand half the things she goes over and she jumps all the place and doesn't stay on one thing.
Took the 8 week class and as long as you stay on top of everything the class is easy to get through. Some weeks were tougher than others. The middle of the class was the toughest. Overall Pretty Easy Course.
I took both of her psych classes and she is absolutely hilarious. She cares about your success. She gives extra credit on her tests but be prepared to read the textbook, her lectures are not enough for the tests. Many of her students, including myself, have created a friendship with her. Shes an amazing teacher, but her classes aren't easy.
This professor is very funny & her lectures are very enjoyable. She is a very kind person & intelligent in the subject. My only complaints were that her lectures have nothing to do with the tests. You have to study & read A LOT. You have to take quizzes on black board that are timed and they are super difficult. You have to work VERY HARD to pass.
Took her for a online summer class for psych 243. She is a very tuff grader! Had 3 quizzes and 1 test a week along with a Multi question discussion board and a paper each week.
I think, in her mind, she thinks these Ted Talk videos are helpful to us students. The Ted Talk videos mean nothing to this course. They don't go with the chapters. By far I have learn only from the book, ted talk videos and DB are worthless!
Professor Glackin has been one of the best instructors Ive ever come across - she makes the class interesting, portrays ideas well, and is pretty upfront about her expectations. Write good notes and ask questions, and you should do just fine! Yes, the course is test-heavy, but she never tests you on things that havent been addressed already.
Ms. Glackin is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's engaging and exciting, you will never be bored in this class. She does make you work for your grade, but she gives you everything you need to succeed. Her assignments are a lot of fun and educational. She gives you real knowledge on Psychology that you can use in your daily life.
The amount of work required in this online class is completely ridiculous. Every section has a lengthy assignment, I'm talking like 5-9 pages with word count minimums. She is rude in her descriptions of assignments for example "if you do not meet my idea of 10 pages, not yours expect a failing grade". Do not take her online.
She was great! Her class is a LOT of work. Be prepared to make it your focus. She cares deeply for her students and wants to see them succeed if they put forth the effort. The Exams are based mostly on the chapter readings and lectures. She does not require attendance but if you dont attend class, dont expect to do well. She is Funny as well!
She uses an old textbook to create her assignments, but tells students that the newest version is needed. SO MUCH BUSY WORK! It is safe to say that I learned absolutely nothing in this class, and I spent about ten hours per week working on assignments for her. Do not take her class if you don't have to!
It is true that the amount of work for this class is abundant, but if you stay ahead of schedule (she posts everything on the first day) then you will be fine. Some of the papers are lengthy and with taking it in 8 weeks, there was one assigned every week. My advice would be to buy the book as a PDF; tests are from the book and you can search PDF.
It is true, for an online psychology class the work load is a little much. I took the 8wk class so large papers every week, word count is very important so make sure you know the required word count. I think the recommendation to get textbook as PDF was right on however if you don't, you can find answers for tests on quizlet. Interesting class!
the tests are straight from the book making lectures pointless. she is all over the place and rambles about her life mostly. she tries to be funny by cussing a lot to. wouldn't recommend
I loved her class, human development was one of the most enjoyable classes for me because of her! She makes you work for your grade but if you do the work youll be fine!
Shes a great teacher just make sure you read your notes before the exam
It's a no from me.
Kimberly Glackin has high expectations for her students, but as long as you are present and focused you will do just fine! The class is mostly lectures but she makes them interesting, funny, and easy to follow! Take good notes, do the practice quizzes, and show up--you won't have any issues. I went out of my way to take her again next semester!
You know those assignments where you have to interview somebody? You have about six of those (about 10-15 interviews of different age groups). The exams often ask about minor details that one could easily not remember exactly right or accidentally misread. If you are looking for a class to learn practical psychology knowledge, look elsewhere.
The class involved LOTS of writing, which is okay. I just felt she was inconsistent with how she graded things sometimes. Other than that, her class was interesting. Just be prepared to spend a lot of time on discussion boards.
She was a pleasant teacher, however it was difficult because the tests were graded over anything and everything that was mentioned in the book, so not everything was covered in lecture. So make sure to read your textbook and you will be just fine!
you have to study but she is an amazing teacher and would recommend her! LOVE LOVE LOVE her!!
Will write a lot -papers and disc. posts. Forget content, word count is the MOST important; will give failing or close to it for being under. Does not share rubric. Grading seems inconsistent with little feedback. Read everywhere and closely for instructions, they differ. Takes several points for anything missed. Makes you work for your grade.
I dont know much about this person for on campus classes but DO NOT by any means sign up for her online classes! She has flat out told me there is no way to study for tests and questions are completely random I have literally failed every test and she just tells me she cant help me. Unbelievably frustrating. Would not recommend this professor.
Be prepared to read 25+ pages every week & take good notes. Has vocab and chapter quiz as well as section tests. All of them are timed. You do have to write lenthy papers. Only complaint is there are 3 weeks of assignment given at one time and she doesn't grade as they are turned in.
Mrs. Glackin is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. I took her class during a 7-week summer course and loved it. She is very knowledgable and her lectures are very helpful without being overwhelming! Her class was a lot of work, but she is very sweet and her stories make the class worth it! I would highly recommend taking Mrs. Glackin!!
The most kind professor one could have. Always makes sure youre doing okay and helps explain her topics. One of the best professors out there.
She really recognizes those who put forth effort in her class. Shes a teacher you cant bs. I enjoy this in a teacher, but some prefer to skate by so I figured I mention it. Lots of reading and discussion boards, but she gives you 3-4 weeks to complete a single unit. Works well with a busy schedule!!
When taking her class, she was very kind and understanding of each situation. She would ask others to share their experiences and give meaningful replies and thank everybody for sharing. I would recommend her because she really cares about her students and the learning environment she puts effort into. Also gives a lot of time for the school work!
She is the best teacher I have had this year. I love her and shes very hilarious and entertaining. The homework assigned was always fun to do and teaches you lots. While the coursework was a bit tough and challenging it was also a nice change from statistics. Definitely recommend
She was a GREAT teacher, if you take this class, you'll have an online book with a quiz reviewing the chapter, you'll watch a short video and do a discussion post about it, and take a test for each chapter. If you read the chapter and listen to her lectures (with powerpoints) you will do fine.
Professor Glackin is a gem that kept me laughing every lecture! There is a lot of work that goes into the class - 1 quiz, test, and discussion board required for each chapter. Several opportunities to gain extra credit over the semester. Read the textbook! It is key to doing well in her class.
I absolutely loved this course. Mrs. Glackin will not only lecture, but she will also walk around and break the ice pretty fast. She has been one of the most enthusiastic professors I have ever met, and that will help you feel comfortable and involved. She uses her own made online textbook, so it's cheaper and more related to your tests.
As a professor she's not terrible, but she is a difficult grader and it takes forever. Every 10-14 days you will have 3 chapters to read, a quiz, a test, a DB post (also replying to classmates), and a paper (most are research style). It is possible to get an A, but do not expect it to be easy!
Online format is tedious and time consuming. Tests highly specific knowledge of the text book. Sometimes test answers where incorrect and I had to refer to passages in the text to receive a fair grade. Research papers every 10 days. Very little feedback. Lectures are just her reading word for word from power point slides. Take it in person.
Professor Glackin has been one of the best educators I have met. I absolutely adore her and her teaching style. Her lectures are very engaging. She has me from on the floor laughing to on the verge of tears with how real and honest she is about things. If you get the chance, take her! You will not regret it.
She's super amazing. I really liked her as a professor and person. Her lectures are very interesting and she is funny as well. Just be ready to do a lot of textbook reading and studying. Also is very important to show up.
Had classes with her my first and last semesters of college at MCC. First class with her was hard for me (during covid) and the last two were amazing. She is hilarious and makes class exciting! She responds quickly to emails and wants you to succeed in whatever you do. Always loved Professor Glackin and will miss her the most at Blue River!
This course focused on 14 chapters of Human lifespan and development. It was a lot of information but the teacher made it super easy. ALL of the quizzes and tests you can take online at home. The textbook covers all of the information. (My class was in person but you do quizzes and tests at home). I would highly recommend this teacher!
She was an awesome professor and the class was super enjoyable!
I highly recommend Mrs. Glackin. One of my favorite professors!!!!
Glackin is one of the best teachers ever!!! Her lectures are bliss, so easy to understand and your tests/final/quizzes are online and are not taken in class so that is a plus. She created her own textbook for this course so study her chapters very well if you want good grades. She does not accept late work so don't procrastinate. Easy class!
I believe she was a great person in general, but her class did not do it for me. I thrive off in person, but this was more of a hybrid class. I didn't feel like i learned anything and her tests were super textbook reply. I wish i got more from Kim but oh well. Glad the semester is over.
I took two classes with her, psych 140 and psych 243 and loved both classes. She is very knowledgeable about what she teaches and she's easy to follow along. Her tests weren't terrible but I suggest to start reading the textbook as soon as you can, and taking the class in person.
Professor Glackin is an engaging and entertaining lecturer. The class involves a lot of reading and assessments, but if you stay on top of the work, you can do well. Definitely check out unstuck AI for helpful study tools along with the textbook.
Be prepared for lots of homework. However the class is very beneficial and Mrs. Glackin is one of the best teachers I have had. She is very funny and keeps it supe real.
Professor Glackin is one of my favorites at MCC Blue River. Her lectures are engaging, interesting, and she is very funny and sarcastic. She is a relatively tough grader, be sure to take notes, engage in lectures, and ask questions!! Overall, loved the class and would love to take classes with her in the future.
I really enjoying her lectures, they were all engaging and she always brought some good points on things. She was memorable and I never skipped a class so thats how you know it was that good :) Get ready to also take weekly discussion board posts + videos of yourself, its fun.
She is amazing. My favorite professor by far :)
Professor Glackin is amazing! She is so kind and caring! She really values her students as people, and she is very encouraging. She knows her subject well and is a passionate teacher. Her lectures are fascinating and really stick. She is a bit eccentric, but overall an incredible teacher! The homework is very manageable. I highly recommend her!
