suck...she is really tough...Her quiz is really hard also...don't take it this class with her
This teacher is really hard. Dont ever take her if you want to get an "A". Her test are really hard. Its almost impossible to get an "A" in her class.
I have never met a nicer instructor. She if flexible, makes class fun, and makes a point to get to know each person. You must be a good test taker to pass her class, some of the answers can be a little ambiguous. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to add a kind element to their day.
Hard, ambiguous, uses too much energy, wears you out. She is so enthusiastic, and tries so hard to be funny, and is a little funny, but she wears you out by all the energy she exudes. She should calm down a little or at least toneit down. She should also be more clear in her test questions.

Kim bends over backwards to help her students. She writes personal letters to students after they turn in a project to point out the positives and things to improve upon. She creates a very friendly, nurturing environment which brings the class closer together.
This lady is FULL of energy! She will definately keep you awake, and interested in class. Her energy can be tiring, but that early in the morning we all need it! Overall class went really well.
Kim is a great fun teacher - you will enjoy any class taught by her
She is ambiguous, is too hyper, and is too self concerned. She appears to be concerned about her students well being but is truly not.
She is a really good teacher, however she doenst play any games and will give you the grade you deserve. She is very helpful and will do everything she can to make sure u understand.. You have to work hard in the class though.. TRUST ME..

shes CRAZY i loved her..so funny n if u have a morning class..shes guna wake u up..she loves creativity so really show tht in ur work..other than that..i think shes a great teacher..not an easy A so work hard peeps
This class was hard but I learned alot and enjoyed attending.
The most amazing teacher I've ever experienced. Incredible. Develops relationships with everyone and cares about each person's life. Will do anything to help you succeed if you communicate with her.
I am so glad I had this teacher. She is so encouraging. She promoted class unity. She grades what you deserve, but she will help you achieve that grade. Writes personal letters. commenting n your strengths and areas for improvement. Very lively, cheerful, funny, and outgoing. Can't say enough good things about her.
I don't recommend this class to students who have busy schedules. This class felt like I was taking a hard English course combined with a speech class. She was not helpful and was easily irritated when I had questions.
do not take any class with this teacher! Not helpful. Not cool. not clear. this was the hardest class i have ever taken. and her voice is like finger nails ran across a chalk board! just horrible!
I took this storytelling class with Children's Lit as an LC. Awesome combination! Two teachers (the other is Kim Manner), 2 classes back to back, 6 units but only 4 units work. Very fun class. The class really became a community. A group project, which was rewarding and fun. Read the book, practice your stories and you'll pass with no problem.

Kim is very available and provides outstanding feedback. She is dedicated to the class and expects the same in return. She is very high energy, so her lectures are always interesting. Her expectations are high, but she is very willing to give you all the help you need to succeeed. I would take her class again, but don't think it's an easy A.
Wonderful!!! I loved her!! She does a wonderful job giving constructive feedback!
She made class enjoyable because she is so funny and upbeat. Speeches suck, but she made it more relaxing. Minimal homework given and tests are easy!
This teacher is one of those teachers you will remember 20 years from now when you look back on college. She is wonderful. She pushes you to become better in everything you do. She is inspiring and very helpful. She requires you to work hard but grades fairly easy. She is great. TAKE HER IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!
Kim is very sweet and HILARIOUS. I would take her class just because its fun! Don't take it with Children's Lit.. bcuz the other teacher sucks. Anyways, Kim is an awesome teacher, she understands people and she shares a lot of interesting stuff about her self. Not hard of a class, but the book is boring. She is so funny though!
Kim is a great resource. She really cares about her students. Kim loves what she teaches and demands a lot out of her students. Any class of hers is worth taking. Kim makes class fun and interesting. She is not such a stickler as she seems as first. You will definitely have to work hard if you take one of her classe,s it it is worth it!
Kim is a HILARIOUS teacher. She is a little white girl that grew up in Detroit (I think), and always talks about it. She isn't hard, but she isn't easy. I like her a lot, because she very well understands people's fears with public speaking, and will always help you out if needed.
Kim is amazing! She is loud and funny and makes you feel comfortable in front of the class. Best speech teacher ever!
She was really nice and everything ,but somethings not right. I dont know of anyone that got a perfect score on any speech. She is very picky and demanding. However, she is very helpful. I wouldn't take another class with her ,but she is better than most speech teachers.
Top of the line professor. She really sets the standard for teaching in a lot ways. She has refined her craft & has figured out how to most effectively teach her subject in the simplest, most understandable ways. She is a great motivator & makes you feel as comfortable as you can to give a speech. She loves what she does & she is very good at it.
Kim is awesome. She is always there for questions when you need her. And makes time for appointments. Very upbeat, friendly, and encouraging. Really makes it comfortable to do your speeches. The work can be very hard. But you have time and help to get it done very well. Easy A if you try your best.
Kim was great. Her class was fun and entertaining. She has SOOO much energy and it never goes away. I didn't do the outside telling and I bombed most of my tests (which were little) and I still got an A. If you take storytelling take it with her. She will get you if you text in her class though.
She is a very good teacher who really likes to keep high self esteem; however, you do have to invest time into her class and she is straight forward with her comments. She wants you to succeed and she's good at teaching.
Kim is so much fun! She comes in with so much energy and I love it. You only have four speeches and one outside speech. She makes the class really fun. She is amazing. And she really helps you out and is straight forward.
Kim was very energetic yet it was extremely difficult to get an A in her class. You must take your time and submit homework early enough to get her feedback. It seemed difficult to understand what she wanted. I took a hybrid class. I think it's better to take a regular class with rather than hybrid.
Great teacher! She stretches your level of thinking to reach outside of the box and sets the bar high so you challenge yourself. Really has a deep interest in her students suceeding.

Horrible experience with her. She is very tough with her grading policy. Unclear with instructions. Changes deadlines on assignments, makes it very difficult to comprehend teaching style.
Really hard.Very unclear. has her own grading method.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had.Grades like a crazy person. Will knock off points.Has her own grade chart. I would not recommend her at all.
very nice person, but she is very very hard. you will not pass class even if you try very hard.
Not really helpful at all.HORRIBLE TEACHER
She is the most inspiring MJC teacher I have ever taken. I had her for women in management. Great class for all genders. The negative reviews on here must be from slackers whose parents pay for their college. If you want quality education that you care about, take Kim's class
I don't know how to feel about her. I tried as hard as I could and still did not do as well as I would have liked. Took online. Weekly tests 20 question and you have 15 min to take them, 5 discussions, 3 projects. She seems laid back and fun, but I'd recommend taking her in person.
Very hard class. She was the worst teacher I have ever had in my life.I feel like I can't finish college because of her.
Women in Managment= creating an awesome professional portfolio to combat the current economy! She a straight forward enthusiastic teacher who gives her all to her students to assist them to be more successful. We also had a coaching partner project that I benefited a lot from. Great Business ethics & awesome reasoning for her 2 speeches. 2thumbsup!
Nice lady, a little to hyped up, expects a ton of work from you, as if you don't have other classes. Has to be right about everything, didn't really enjoy the class, although I passed it with an A. She's a bit of a micro manager, has to have a word into everything and has student pets too. Couldn't wait to be done with this class.
She is by far the worst teacher I have ever had!She confuses herself , and doesn't know how to explain things.
Kim is extremely passionate about her profession! she challenges students in a good way. She is always hyped but thats just who she is (lol) She also uses humor and makes the course fun. Kim's an inspiring teacher.
She's a great teacher! Just keep up with the work, and she grades you on what you deserve.
Kim is high energy and never boring. She is very clear in her instructions, extremely helpful, and super friendly. She allows extra credit; requires a paper per performance; gives 2-3 tests; and grades fairly.
Took intercultural online, and she is AMAZING! She grades everything in detail, and makes everything super clear. As long as you work hard, you should be able to get an 'A'. :)
Kim is a high-energy person with high expectations - she takes her job seriously. She makes you feel comfortable, but don't get too comfortable, keep focused on the work or you will fail. While I don't agree with her grading rubrics - I DID learn a lot throughout her class.
Kim is inconsistent and the grading system is retarded. She told us to correct parts of our projects, we left them and she later said that they were wonderful. I had an A throughout the majority of the semester and ended with a B bc I was late with the peer review on the final project and she wouldn't accept it.
Do the study cards she suggests and you shouldn't have any trouble. Tests are short and frequent, manageable. Group projects can be a pain, especially the final one when everyone is already busy. Talks about herself a lot, but has good information for the class.
LOVE Kim! She's energetic, passionate, and loves to share her love for storytelling. Best class I've taken - If you need a speech class, take Kim's story telling! You'll have tons of fun and learn a lot of useful info. She was always ready to help. She does have favorites but she has something nice to say about everyone. I would for sure take again
This is by far one of the best teachers ever!! I got a C but I had missed opportunities to earn a significant number of points. She has such a positive outlook on life and this really helps to create a great learning environment for her students to feel energetic, enthused, and fascinated to learn. Both classes were great,Kim rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Horrible experience with her! She's ambiguous. Very tough grading policy that was inconsistent. She actually tested us on things she had never lectured on and she doesn't lecture well. I earned an A in the class, but not before doing double the work as the other students. She tries to sound positive, but I've witnessed her judgmental side.
Kim was very helpful. She responds to email fast. She also gives you feedback quickly and a lot of it.
Kim is a wonderful teacher. Her passion for teaching is extremely well purveyed in her storytelling class in particular. While there are times that she gets a little mixed up, she admits to it, and repeats continuously that she is NOT a multi-tasker. She is however, always helpful, and willing to offer help, you just need to ask!
Kim is a great instructor. Her energy is infectious even in the online classes I have experienced with he. She is always willing to provide help, but you have to ask. I have learned a great deal in courses she has taught.
Kim made a rough semester fly by! She gives honest and good feedback, the grading is clear (she will not accept late work), she offers some extra credit, and she has a way of turning a class into a family! One of the funnest and funniest classes I have taken at MJC.
Kim is such an amazing teacher! If you keep up with the assignments and reading this class is an Easy A. Kim is super passionate & helpful. She responds to email right away and gives great feedback. There are two big projects, three discussion boards, three voice threads, and a quiz for almost every chapter. Lowest quiz gets dropped. No final.
For communication teacher, she sure does lack communications skills. She gives you big projects to do with very little directions on what she is expecting from you. Weekly quizzes are tough mainly because of the unreasonable time limit. You must be very computer savvy to be successful in this class. Will not be taking her again.
Kim is an amazing teacher. I took her for intercultural last semester. Kim is sincerely one of the kindest people you will meet, but she doesn't put up with crap. What makes me love kim even more is that she is invested in seeing her students succeed and on a personal basis wants me to finish school and thrive in my future career in communication.
Class was okay, The work is not to hard if you don't mind hanging out with Theater majors . This was just a little intimidating because I went in to this class not knowing I was going to be judge and have my stories be torn apart by them (TM). I have no theater experience in theater. Teacher only cares about theater majors and is extremely Rude!
I took Org Comm this past spring. Kim is a really good teacher, and has some extremely interesting lectures. This is my third class with her and this was the hardest one. Its challenging because a majority of your grade rides on your group projects so if you have a bad group you are screwed. I got a A at the end but I had to work hard for it.
Kim is simply amazing. Her dedication to our class was phenomenal. She brought in a coffee maker when she noticed we were not attentive in the night class, and created an environment in our group to where we were all comfortable with each other. By far one of my favorite classes because of Kim and the other students in the class.
I love Kim. Best teacher yet, hands down. You will enjoy having her as a teacher. Her lectures are so much fun and interactive. She really cares about her students and takes the time to make sure you understand an assignment or a concept. and she is so energetic she won't make you fall asleep
A VERY energetic and nice professor. Storytelling is actually tough but is very fun and well worth it. She really encourages a positive environment for people who are nervous and makes students become acquainted with one another. Even the most shy of people had fun. She was an amazing and supportive teacher.
Kim is a great teacher, however she is a VERY tough grader. If you want clear instructions she can be very confusing. She told me and my group once that an example was ok for a section of our speech, but when we presented she gave us a 0 on that part saying an example wasn't supposed to be used. so what she says in her office is different thanclass
I took her a few years ago and now its time to take her again for Comm 130. I loved her the first time and I know I will love her again. One of the reasons my second AA is communications.
She is definitely one of my favorite teachers. She was always available for help, super funny, and loves her job. You must go to every class in order to be successful, and also be interactive with other students. I would definitely take her class again and I tell everyone to take the class with her.
Kim is a motivational speaker in professor's garb. If you have next to no speech or acting experience, she will most likely help you by giving you some starting tips. If you've moved behind eye contact/movement/speech outline stuff and want more of a challenge, she isn't what you need. If you're looking for an easy A I would look elsewhere.
Challenging but worth it. Interactive and fun course.
Kim is awesome! Her class is simple and easy to understand. There are 3 in class speeeches, 1 by yourself and 2 in groups. The tests are common sense and the only thing you would really need to study is the essay questions. Pink slips (participation points) are your friend!!
She is so caring and willing to help!
This professor has no mercy, you better be doing your homework and turn it in on time otherwise she wont take it late no matter your situation. And those participation points (yellow sheets) that are supposed to help dont work. I wouldnt advice anyone to take her. Not even AN ACTUAL speech class is as tough as she is. #DONOTTRUSTHER
Grades way too hard for what you do in the class. I am not happy with her class at all, I actually wish I had never taken it. I strongly advise you to stay away from this professor, get anyone else available!!!
Kim is an AMAZING teacher. I've taken several classes with her & am honestly shocked at some of the bad stuff people have to say about her. This is college you guys. Expect to work. Very caring teacher who not only helped me in class but has helped me overcome personal struggles in life. You truly get in touch with yourself in her comm classes.
Shes accessible outside of class but shes not helpful. Tells you to do all these things to pass w/ a certain grade and totally fails you after SHE GUIDES YOU ON WHAT SHE WANTS. Goes on about participation but it doesnt help your grade at all. If you miss even 2 classes kiss your good grade goodbye. And absolutely rude.
She is a very caring teacher, she reaches out to her students. I failed the first time i took her online course due to self issues but she reached out and always tried to help out. Meeting her in person was even better, she was very outgoing. Group participation is needed to pass.
You wont find a teacher as passionate about her subject as Kim. She is the most dedicated teacher here at MJC. Her class is so interesting and very well organized, the topics are fun and the assignments are nice and easy. She will really makes sure that you get the best experience in this class. Easy final project, take this class!
Going into this class I didn't think I would be able to do it. As the semester went on my confidence in my storytelling grew. I am now at a point where I can speak in front of people without any issues. Kim is very good at making you feel comfortable in the front of the room. She is always willing to help outside of class.
Kim is the greatest! She is so energetic and has the coolest stories! I took Storytelling and it was so much fun. You do use your book quite a bit, but it pays off! You get to learn how to tell stories and get your audience intrigued, and your public speaking is enhanced after. Kim is very caring and enjoys her classes. You'll love her!
Kim is one of the most caring person that I have known in my lifetime. Because she cares, shes going to do whatever it takes to help you succeed in her class. She knows her stuff forwards and backwards inside and out and if you let her, she will teach you many things that will be useful now and in the future. If you let her, she'll be your friend!
Professor Gyuran helped me get through public speaking. I had taken the class three times prior to taking her class and dropped them each time. She is really encouraging and gives you all the tools you need to succeed.
She's a great teacher and always replies to emails in a great time period. She's super understanding and always tries to help you out. one of the best teachers ive had this semester and would recommend her for sure!
Professor Gyuran is a great teacher. She is very helpful and is excited about each and every speech. She is also understanding and will work with you to make sure you pass the class. I would definitely recommend her to anyone, especially if you struggle with public speaking.
I would highly recommend Prof. Kim. She is so helpful and easygoing. I never thought I would make it through public speaking. I was terrified just to sign up for it, but Prof. Kim helped me feel more confident in myself. She gives you a couple of tries on tests and works with you in Zoom on your speeches.
You will learn a lot about yourself in this class. I highly recommend it if you're interested in cultural communication. We did a few projects about our cultural background and I learned a lot about myself. I feel more confident talking to others now. We also did a group project, but it was actually fun and made the final project less work.
This class will teach you a lot about professional communication. Every lecture was filled with excellent tips that you can use at work or in your personal life. Class lectures were interactive and it's the only class I took this semester where I got to know my teacher and classmates. The group projects were a great experience!
This class was AMAZING! Professor Gyuran even more amazing. She is so supportive of her students and wants them to succeed. Responds to email quickly and gives great feedback. This class opened my eyes to a lot. Interesting assignments and group project. Don't hesitate on taking any of her classes!
Shes really funny and loud. However the professor's grading criteria is pretty tough. If you're gona take her make sure you PRACTICE before your speeches. Make sure you got your things together, unless you can avoid her then do so LOL. If you can take someone else there are more professors that don't grade like it's an English class.
Professor Gyuran was so thoughtful especially for students that have speech anxiety or little confidence. She made sure that we had all the tools we needed to succeed: material and practice wise. Her tests are short and simple and there are hints throughout the module to help you. Her feedback is precise and positive. She just wants you to do well!
ONLINE. need to put some effort in. Super sweet. Grades pretty easily. Go to office hours if you need help shes fun to talk to. Just practice speeches and youll be fine. Quizzes are sort of easy just go look through module and textbook chapter. Shell help rewrite thesis and other stuff just go to office hours. Has Extra credit. Ended w 102%.
Professor Gyuran has to be one of if not the sweetest professor I have ever had. Not only was her online class filled with resources to pass each week's exam, she always left very kind and encouraging comments on each assignment. There is a group project at the end for the final, just make sure to partner up ahead of time. Wonderful Professor!
Kim is really caring!! There are quizzes at the end of each week and the quizzes take a lot of prep. Some quizzes even require paragraph answers but she will tell you in advance. There is one project due at midterms so please start on that asap. The final is a project and you have to find a partner. The final is worth so much of your grade.
Professor Kim was awesome! You can tell she is very passionate about her students and what she teaches. It's really easy if you do the work. Just make sure you participate actively in discussions... there's also a short quiz every week, but the "test hints" throughout the modules tell you exactly what is on the quizzes.
This class seemed like intro to Queer theory. Much time wasted on trying to train class on a political agenda favoring marginalized groups. I wanted to learn how to communicate not understand the LGBTQ agenda. So frustrated. She graded quickly. When she marked you down on an assignment it was not clear at all what could have been done better
I can't say enough positive things about Mrs Gyuran. The class is challenging but not impossible. She is always willing to help and is extremely kind and passionate about everything she teaches. She wants you to succeed and if you read all the modules you won't miss your assignments dates.
Her class is so chill and if you can be a little goofy for a story you'll be fine. Grading can gets worse as you get closer to the final as she wants you to get better. It's ok to be nervous but please practice your stories, she gives really good advice if you're not into performing. The class feels more like a support group, that actually care.
The classmates I had made this class awesome. Teacher wise not in that case. Her grading is all over the place no one knew there grade. Tests were also very difficult she is super hard on your essay questions on tests. I can see why she uses her grading scale by points not letter grade because if that was the case no one would pass this class.
She doesn't really apply to her own rubrics and is overly strict when not necessary, tests are difficult and fairly subjective.
Felt like no matter what I did or how hard I worked, Kim was never satisfied and made it extremely difficult to get an A. Considering your grade is dependent on 3 exams and 3 presentations it's hard to get all the points you need. My experience was unenjoyable because it felt like the teacher had something against me from day one.
