The best teacher EVER!!!!

She talked about some paper where there was a stipper with abs that you could play jenga on. It was hilarious-Best teacher I've ever had. Could talk to her about anything!

Kim is a pleasure to have for a prof. I told her on the first day of class that this was the 1st class in my collegiate career that I hated. She proved me wrong. If you need someone to help you want to write- take Kim!

I thought she was very nice and helpful. She does think she's a little more funny than what she is, but she's a pretty cool lady. She has a lot of fun durring class and is quite entertaining.

She is a great professor. She will try to get on your level although it may be weird sometimes but if you get into a tight spot she will always be willing to help and she doesn't make you feel stupid for asking. A very fair and balanced grading scale and is always happy. Goofy jokes are okay.

Very nice teacher and wants her students to do well. She'll plus your grade pretty much no matter what and offers feedback right away if you ask for help. The non-lab day is kind of a waste of time so bring some homework to do during that time.

Fun class, teacher makes it fun and its pretty easy. You have all semester to write 4 papers and they are fairly simple and you can write them to your liking, not very many restrictions. I would recommend her for a teacher

i really liked kim. She was very fun and helpful. Class outside of lab was useless tho, i never had motivation to go. You can only get 4 absences tho and use them wisely!! i recommend this prof, shes probably one of the best.

Kim is by far the nicest prof. i've had. She almost feels like another student. The problem is she doesn't help you much, and good luck getting an A for your final grade in this class. Classes outside the lab are totally pointless.

She's a fun teacher. The class is not hard but you have to keep up or it might be hard to get a good grade in the end. She's very helpful if you ask questions. Classes outside of the lab aren't that helpful but they aren't extremely boring either. She's a great professor.

If you like a prof to not treat you like a high schooler who babysits the class and gives busywork to "keep you on track" then Kim Kelley-Lafata is great. I really like the class, i feel like my opinion is respected and i get treated like an adult.

Kim is hilarious! I can't believe people actually wrote negative things about her...but look at their reasonings. You don't need the books, don't buy them. Make sure you have her edit & go over your papers before you turn them in, otherwise you're not as likely to get an A. Take her- i'm not a morning person & i loved going to her classes at 8am!

She is a really nice person, but if your a morning person, I don't know how you could stand the constant upbeat attitude as crazy as it sounds. If your not the type of person who feels you need constant help from the professor this class isn't for you. She gives an A to who she talks to.

She was very very helpful and always willing to look over drafts. When she did she made LOTS of helpful comments. She's pretty funny too. I would highly recommend her.

She is awesome. I had her class online and she was still incredibly helpful. None of the assignments seemed like busy work and I learned from every paper we had to write. I didn't want to take another writing class but I actually learned a ton. And you write about stuff you're interested in which helps. I'd definitely recommend her!

take this professor! she is great. very helpful. makes class fun. and it's not the same ole papers you have to write. she helps you choose fun and intertesting topics that you WANT to write about. I absolutley HATE writing.. but i really enjoyed this class

Took the online class, great prof. Very easy class, she is very generous in grading. It's nice to write about things you are interested, most assignments you are able to insert your opinion, and who doesn't like giving their opinion?

I really loved her, she was funny and kept class interesting. You HAVE to ask her for help though, she gives you a better grade. I did a really good portfolio and got a B because I didn't ask her for help every other class. I would recommend her though, especially if you don't like writing or writing classes.

Shes great, I loved going to class. she always makes it interesting and funny. lab time was boring but you don't have to stay the whole time. She's very helpful and gives a lot of points to help your grade. She has you read little short stories, read them for brownie points.

Awesome teacher! If writing isn't your thing she will help you a lot. She tells you exactly what she wants, and how to get an A. There are barely any other assignments too compared to other WRT150 profs. I'd def recommend.

Only 4 drafts, 3 total papers required for homework, she can be entertaining but i now know more about her kid than i do about my little cousin..paper topics were generally very vague and for me difficult to write on, but there were very few of them..i hate writing anyway but she made the class at least ok

I HATE WRITING.! Writing is the worst think you could ever ask me to do but with Kims help I've gotten thru writing in one peice without feeling overwhelmed and frustrated the entire time. I definitely recommend her.

I LOVED THIS PROFESSOR!!! You write 4 rough drafts, and turn in 3 final ones. She is very easy to talk to, and is very willing to help if you have any questions. She's very laid back and always find a way to entertain the class! I recommend signing up for her class! :)

She is definitely one of my favorite profs. You write four papers and then pick 3 for the final portfolio. She helps you whenever you need it. She tries to make class fun, and she is successful at it. Writing isn't my favorite subject, but she made it very tolerable! You'll learn a lot about her family too! Recommended!

TAKE THIS PROF! She wants you to succeed and is EXTREMELY helpful in and out of class. Always willing to stay after class to help you. No homework. Only have to write 3 real papers and if you do them right away the class is over really early. BEST PROF EVER!

By far the BEST professor I have ever had!! Kim Kelley is excellent and makes this class so fun. Her stories are so interesting and fun to listen to. You write 4 papers and only end up turning 3 of them in, and the topic is very broad and interesting! She is the best professor at GV, and I advise everyone to take her!!!

By far my FAVORITE professor at GV! And by far my most hated class! I don't like writing and I procrastinate like no ones business. So I advise to take her because she will help you and she is extremely nice, and to NOT wait until the last 2 weeks to finish the portfolio. With finals, that was my biggest mistake and it showed in my other grades.

Professor Lafata was awesome! She makes the class nice and easy and is one of the nicest teachers i've ever had. She's willing to do whatever it takes to help students succeed. I would highly recommend her to anyone thats taking WRT 150!

I am really happy that I took this class with her! She is very clear with what is expected from students but she's really laid back and funny. She is one of those professors that understands her students and she really does want everyone to do well. No outrageous assignments or busy work, just what needs to be done for your portfolio. Shes awesome

Best professor I had this year. Even though WRT 150 is difficult, she was really laid back and made it seem exciting. She was ready to help you no matter what. Was quick to respond to emails, always willing to help during office hours, and really made it clear that she cared about her students. Would highly recommend.

Professor Kelley-Lafata is hilarious! Most people hear writing and think that it is boring but she makes it fun that you want to go to class. She is there for her students if they need her and she replies to her e-mail's very quickly.

Professor Kelley-Lafata makes writing fun. She gives you two weeks to write each paper, and helps you through every step of it. She is funny and makes class interesting. There is no reason to not get an A for she is willing to help and revise your paper all the time. I would highly recommend.

Writing 150 is tough but Kim will make it enjoyable. She rarely gives homework and works with you one-on-one with all of your papers. She is very funny, kind, and helpful. One of my favorite professors so far. I hate writing but I actually liked going to class. You write 4 papers and put 3 in your portfolio. Hands down take her for Writing 150

The class is though, but if you get time to talk to Kim she's super helpful. get your papers done and the class will be over pretty early. It's hard to get an A, but it's possible! Wouldn't of wanted any one else as a professor for writing 150

She is honestly one of the best professors I have had at GV. She is so kind and funny, and you can talk to her about anything. She provides amazing feedback on drafts and will do whatever she can to make sure you get the grade you want and worked for. I would definitely take her again if I had the chance!

Best professor ever!!! She was super funny and laid back, always made sure we knew what was going on and required. We never actually got a grade in the class till the end but she always gave you an idea of what you had if you asked her. Gave us like 2 or 3 days off towards the end of the semester. I would definitely recommend her.

Take her!! She's such a great prof that actually made me want to go to class. WRT 150 can be a little stressful because all you're being graded on is the final portfolio but Prof Kelley makes sure to help you the entire semester. The best Prof I've had yet at GV, I highly recommend her.

Prof. Kelley-Lafata might be an angel sent from above. She is one of the most caring ladies I have ever encountered. She is fun, light hearted, always making jokes, gives very helpful suggestions and critiques on papers, she wants her students to do exceptional. She helped me so much I wish every person on the planet could have her as a prof.

Kim made me look forward to writing class, even as a BIO major. Her jokes are top notch which really helps lighten the mood in the classroom. She gives you plenty of time to work on your papers and is always willing to meet with you in or out of class. Kim was one of the professors that made my freshman year easier rather than harder.

Kim is literally the best professor I have had so far. The material is so easy and you actually learn some quality things so if you do the work you will pass. But know that this class does not count towards your credit hours.

If you are looking for a WRT 150 teacher that is down to earth, to the point, easy grader, good feedback, relatable and always there for you, then I would take her. 4 papers, no homework, no quizzes, no tests, no final, Possibly the BEST WRT 150 teacher that GVSU offers. She made this boring class fun. She spent a whole hour in class helping me and my friend with our papers. She cares a lot!! She is so nice and so funny, if you get her you will be lucky!!

Kim is one of the most laid back teachers I've ever had. She almost always ended class early, and didn't care if you got up and left halfway through class. Lectures were kinda pointless but that's just because WRT150 is kinda pointless in general. Super sweet and makes every student feel special. Definitely one of the best options for this class!

Professor Lafata is so sweet, she understands you and engages with you one on one very well. I loved having her as a professor because she brightens up your day with her positive easygoing personality and sense of humor.

By far my favorite professor at GVSU. Such a sweet professor who genuinely cares about your success. Her feedback is very helpful and she makes sure you stay on track to pass writing 150, while never overwhelming you or making you feel stupid. She promptly responds to emails. Professor Kelley-Lafata is the best professor at GVSU, in my opinion. She is extremely helpful and will make sure you pass. I did not open either of the books once and got an A in participation and an A on my portfolio. I also did not attend most of the online classes. I do not recommend doing this, but if youre a good writer, an A is doable.

Prof Lafata is awesome! She is very nice & always reminds her students that she is there to help. You have 3 papers that are due at the end of the semester, and a couple small assignments throughout the semester. I 100% recommend this professor!

A great Professor, and gives great feedback almost wish there could have been more feedback given from her. I felt as if I was doing great in then class and then practically failed. Also reminder no matter what your process and participation grade is anything below a C on your portfolio you fail the class.

I took her Writing 120 class. She is amazing, cares about her students, willing to help and even will try to help you with other class writing assignments. She has a great personality. 100% recommend her.
