she is really anoying but easy subject. She has no confidence in what she is doing in class.
Worst math teacher at UMR. Not clear, does half of the example problems incorrectly, and the tests are not a good reflection of material covered in the class.
Great Teacher. When I have problems all I have to do is go see her during her office hours. Always willing to help if you put in the effort to go talk to her.
She did not teach what was on the tests. She said that they were taken directly from the homework, but not even close. She has no confidence in what she is teaching, and doesn't understand any question you ask. POOR TEACHER!
She might get through 1 example in class, but she did it wrong. Then hold you over to go over the other %90 of the secton in about 10 seconds, then give you a attendence quiz. Kinder = Moron!
She just isn't a good teacher for college, maybe high school but definitely not college.
can't do calc if her life depended on it, let alone the examples from the book. yet everything on board is wrong don't know how she got to teach in UMR. Tests no where near what she taught. nice woman though. can't teach.
Dont know why UMR lets her teach. She is absolutley terrible. Cant even copy the problems out of the book. Messes up all the time, impossible to follow. Would not recommend her at all. She needs to go back to Math 2 and learn math.
She is the absolute worst teacher I have ever had. She messes up everything, always lets you out late, covers one or two examples and then tries to do the rest of the concepts in last 2min of class. One time the recitation teacher had to teach the lecture cuz she was confused. How did she get hired?

Awesome instructor. Is willing to help until material is understood. Does make errors on board but it helps show how easy they can be made, and who knows she might be doing it to see if we catch them. Would recommend to anyone who wants a great instructor. (Math department makes test not just her)!!
i agree with all the bad reviews. she is horrible.
She does not even understand what she is teaching. I took Calc 1 and 2 before transferring to this school and had to start at Trig when I got here. Somehow she made me dumber with this class.
She is a really good teacher. She explains clearly, and is always willing to help if you have any problems or conerns. Her class is not easy, but if you put the time and effort in, then you will most likely get an A or a B.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had in Math.Doesn't explain anything clearly, covers a section in like a min. and rude sometimes.Says to do homework but then never goes over it.
Would rather jump off of a bridge than take another class with this women. She screws up on the board all the time and then rather than correct it she says well it'll work out if you do it at little differently. ONE WORD TERRIBLE.
Very condiscending
The students more or less teach the class. She tries but makes so many mistakes she may as well not be there. And she is annoying as hell. She yells without knowing it, so very annoying.
Not a bad professor for Rolla, I have had much worse. Math is math, you either understand it or don't, as I have a hard time. I still thinks she is a good teacher and makes time for you, cares about how hard you try.
She's the worst teacher I've ever had, no doubt. She's not all there.
If you know Calculus already then you should be fine. If you are a little bit weak in the subject but you are willing to read the book you should be fine. If you don't know Calculus very well or have never had it before get a different teacher. I was fine in the class because I had a good grasp on the concepts before entering the class. Kinder make

Lectures have become a joke. I do homework in class because I know that about 20% of the time, she's going to screw up another problem. Seems to be accessible in office hours, but it doesn't really matter as she doesn't help anyway.
HORRIBLE TEACHING NOT EFFECTIVE AT ALL.
Avoid taking Math 14, Calc 1, with Kinder. In class she doesn't teach very well and she makes a ton of mistakes. If you get her, pray that you got a good TA because the TA will be the only person who can help you in this class.
terrrible.
Kill yourself if you get her. I would rather have had one testicle removed than take a class from her!
It's a hard class to take when you have a bunch of students in a giant lecture hall, just because you zone out of her teachings doesn't make her a bad teacher that's all on you, i know cause i did and failed Taking her class over the summer is nice. She's a really nice person who is always available to help you, just call. And stop !@$& about her!!
The worst teacher I have ever had. Great if you can't read and need the examples from the book re-written word for word.
Not good.
Do NOT take her class. I learned far less in her class than in high school. She frequently exhibited a negative attitude, made over 100 mistakes over the course of the semester (my friends and I started a tally), and gave lower grades than other calc I teachers (no curves, unlike others). I barely got an A...then got a 99% in calc II with Bohner.
Well, all she does is read directly out of the book and copy the examples on the board. I wish i got paid for that! I strongly recommend finding another teacher, especially if you have troubles with Calc. Plus, she makes a trillion mistakes on the board.
Terrible class. Her examples are bad (and often wrong). Tests are terrible. Absurd attendance policy. Not very helpfull. VERY confusing.
The TA is good, but kinder is a terrible teacher.
Very condescending when teaching new material. Not sure why. She's really personable when you go to see her outside of class, but other than that she's a raging %!&$#. Possibly my least favorite prof at UMR.
I've had a hard time learning trig since high school, but when I took Kinder's course, I passed with nearly a 100. She explains everything very well and has a concern that you know the material. Sure, she's a little goofy at times but it makes a somewhat boring subject a little more interesting.
Bad instructor! She does not know the material at all! She can't even copy the problems from her notes right, because she does not know what is going on. She even said in class "I don't know the book did not explain it well"!! What the instructor is supposed to know the material not just read the book! MST need to fire her.
She does a good job. Her lectures adequately prepared me for the tests (which were common to all Math 15 sections), and I made an A in the class without much trouble. Go to class and you should do fine.
Should retake the class herself, not sure she knows what she is doing. TA carries students through the course.
She is constantly making mistakes on the bored. I had to correct her several times. She admitted to my class that she could not work a problem because she did not work it out prior to class. The only plus was we did not have to turn in any homework.
Had her for math 2. I had tested into calc coming into MST but felt I didn't have a solid basis in alg and decided to take this course. Anyways, the class was ridiculously hard. The material is not difficult but she grades of mag. of answer. I got an A(was 1 of 2 out of over 100 students). Tough course. Learned a whole lot about algebra though.
Teaches different than homework for that day. Everything taught in class is hard to follow and has nothing to do with the test. I'm going to have to retake this class because of her.
Mrs. Kinder will not be your most helpful teacher, be sure you read the section because her lecture will not help you with the problems. She teaches 2 or 3 other courses on campus and is a result is really too busy to teach any of them well.
She is not the best teacher, but the material is fairly easy. She has enough understanding to help students, and is most willing to do so. She is quirky, but the class was easy, So she isn't that bad, other reviews are just flaming.
Worst calc teacher I've ever had. Assigned homework due on fridays constantly tries to do too much per lecture and therefore blazes through the material leaving everyone confused, and doesn't upload the worked examples. Her lectures are utterly useless for doing the homework. Find outside help if you're unfortunate enough to be stuck with her.
Her problem is going through the slides before you have time to write them. You won't have enough time to answer around a quarter of the clicker questions. Expect to get through half of the lecture in the last 5 minutes of class. My peers with other teachers score ~10% higher. However.. if you've taken (_THE EXACT SAME COURSE_) Calc II, go for it.
I'm sorry but I can't...I cannot even describe the amount of dislike for this teacher. Lecture is like learning a new language. She always lets you out late, gives you 5 seconds to look at example problems, and makes a ton of mistakes. She is not helpful at all. My advice: marry your textbook or your TA because they are your ONLY hope.
Recitation with a TA is the most important part of this class because Kinder doesn't do a great job with examples. Tests are considerably easier than the homework. She gives loads of clicker questions you get every class, and doesn't usually go over them at all. You will be kept late for most of your lectures.
At first I thought she was an awesome professor, but as the semester went on my first impression of her went out the window. Expect to go over class time every time, a lot of clicker questions that can really affect your grade and Expect to work hard. She will not raise any final grades if you are borderline. For example I missed an A by 4 points.
Small, frequent mistakes make learning disruptive during lecture. Also, her lectures are often rushed at the end of class because the first part of the lecture took too long.
A terrible person and a terrible teacher. Wouldn't recommend ever taking her class, I actually recommend that other students who have her drop and try to get into a different class.
She is terrible teacher and person. Constantly makes mistakes and if you ask a question she talks down to you. She always runs over time and tries to fit in 3 examples and 2 clicker questions after class is out. Her clicker questions cost me a letter grade. Take anyone else, it will save you a lot of time and frustration.
Mrs. Kinder is a great teacher. She knows the material well and has excellent slides/notes prepared. Often times, in the delivery of the material she makes small mistakes or stumbles on her words. But if you pay attention it isn't a problem. She made calc II an absolute breeze for me.
Prof. Kinder was great. Don't get me wrong, the class is tough and fast-paced. Lectures fly by, & all of the material is rarely covered. Nonetheless, if you take some time, crack the book, ask her question(s) in office hours, and study hard, you will do fine! I looked over old exams and reworked HW problems in preparation for the exams.
Her classes are fast paced. She always takes extra time after class. When you ask her questions during class she answers in a tone that makes you feel stupid, like she is talking down to you. Very strict, she would not give me 1% to go up a letter grade. I highly recommend you take another professor and avoid her at all times.
Kinder stumbles through her lectures. She goes through her slides very very quickly and you can only end up copying down half of what was presented. She makes a lot of mistakes when working example problems. Her concern for her students is very minimal. Only thing that she's good at is being able to speak English while the other professors can't
She moves VERY fast through her examples (in depth) and through lecture to make more time for examples. I had not taken math for many years prior, and she was willing to teach me all that I had forgotten. She wants you to understand the concepts and will go answer questions outside of class either in person or by email.
Prof. Kinder was a terrible lecturer. She was highly disorganized, trying to fit obscene amounts of examples in the 50 minute lecture when it very obviously couldn't be done. She also worked through the examples very quickly with lots of mistakes. Her inability to lecture well made the class extremely difficult. Expect to study a lot for this class
A pretty okay lecturer, however she does make some mistakes in her lectures, but is quick to correct herself. The test grading criteria were painfully specific and strict, but she was pretty understanding and would give deserved points back. Be sure to catch everything she says about the test grading for sure.
Made us cookies! Few give this lady credit for who she really is and how much she tries. Sure, you won't have time to write down everything in her slides and she'll make a mistake here and there. But, if you actually study the material and go ask her questions, she will make sure you understand how to do anything in Calc 2. Excellent teacher.
She gets a bad rep from students who think she is responsible for the math department's policies. The fact remains: she knows her stuff, she teaches well. It's up to you to do well. Calc 2 is hard, no matter the professor.
I believe Ms. Kinder gets a name because she has to follow the Math Department's protocols. If you do the work and study you will be fine. Best advice is to work through the study plan in My Math Lab.
She was between 5 and 15 minutes late for 75% of the lectures. Because of this, we rarely got to actually see an example worked, but rather she just placed the problem under the projector and basically said this is what I did in a 20 second time period. It was a waste of time.
Kinder is a wonderful person and a decent lecturer. She has a habit of showing a lot of algebra work at the expense of not finishing all the lecture examples. The course uses online homework, one is assigned for every lecture. She is accessible at her office hours and has a genuine concern for students understanding the material.
Kinder is great during office hours and actually helps you but is quite bad at lecturing. She rushes examples, doesn't get through all the examples, and is often late to lecture. That being said she is an overall good professor just extremely tough test maker.
She knows the material really well and is ALWAYS willing to make time to meet outside of class to help. Many get annoyed by the mistakes made during lecture, but every professor makes mistakes while presenting in class.
I had Kinder as a Calc 2 lecturer. I'm not sure why people are so hard on her. She does a fantastic job at explaining the theory behind the math before diving into problems. If you can't put in effort into studying for this class, you probably won't get the results you want. Sometimes examples are rushed, but I always thought the more the merrier.
While she is good it one on one explanation, she struggles to manage time during a lecture. The last three to four slides are usually covered in a matter of seconds, as she crams the material to stay on track instead of managing time during a lecture or going over the left over material next class. She has little apparent empathy during lecture.
Kinder seems nice and is good at explaining most of the material, but her time management is HORRIBLE. Be prepared to do hours of extra work on top of normal class work if you want to learn all of the material needed for the tests. She won't teach everything that needs to be learned.
Kinder often rushes through lectures and is not good at time management during the lecture. The last few slides are often not covered and contain important information. Typically spends too much time reiterating easy algebra concepts. I have spent several nights reading the book and watching videos in order to cover what was left out in class.
Overall, just frustrating to learn from. She's generally unpleasant in her lectures and the type of person who angers you just existing. Pretty condescending at office hours and will tell you just study the material for a longer time. Lectures are not super helpful. Tests are worse, and not consistent from year to year. Avoid at all costs.
Kimberly Kinder does not know how to teach. She does not know how to efficiently organize a lecture, she regularly makes mistakes during said lectures, and she is the harshest grader of all time. She spent nearly half an hour of the final's allotted two hours micromanaging where everyone sat in a literal theatre. Do not take any class with her.
Great professor! Very helpful in office hours. Calc 2 is a hard class. She lectures at a very quick pace. She does make little mistakes occasionally, but I actually liked this aspect of her lecturing, since it forced me to stay engaged. If you fully understand all of the homework problems, you'll probably do fine on the exams. Ask questions!
She seems like the type of person that would be a great aunt, but you wouldn't want any family relation to her in any way. Shes genuinely nice, but her tests are kinda ridiculous. Be prepared to attempt at becoming a human computing machine. My class is tracks the amount of times shes late and off-track in class. Don't take her in the morning.
She would go through her lecture slides quickly and still have 3 minutes left for two slides. She constantly finds the need to jump into the reasoning of everything, explaining how we discovered cosine and sine.
Professor Kinder does not do a good job at covering the required material in time to complete the homework assignments or give you adequate time to prepare for the exam. Correcting her during her excessive in-class examples is a daily chore, and you'd be lucky to get through a majority of her slides in fifty minutes. Math department, do better.
Mrs. Kinder is very good at explaining theory and performing examples. While her time management is poor, she does still generally cover a significant portion of the day's material. The online textbook is a great resource and she's happy to answer questions to fill in the gaps. Her lectures are pleasantly engaging and interactive.
Dr Kinder is a great teacher, I got 96% and it was a hard class but she made everything clear. Yes, she is a tough grader, so you have to make sure you have neat writing on your exams and do everything in her steps, but you will get the grade you deserve at the end.
Do not take the class in the morning! She will not show up for 5-10 min and then struggle to figure out how to turn on the projector for another 5-8min. overall struggled to respect her solely due to the fact that she seemed to slack off so much. Otherwise good professor and very knowledgeable. She works hard to make review sessions.
Kinder is the reason I will not be taking math at S&T anymore. Her lectures are very slow and she always goes off topic explaining things that are nonessential to the course. Almost 2 of the 3 lecture days, she will show up 5 minutes late and finish after our scheduled release time. On top of all that, she was 4 weeks late on entering grades.
Take it in community college
Professor Kinder is a lovely lady. I truly do like her. However, she and Canvas dont get along, and her teaching style leaves me way behind. She talks wayyy too fast, goes through problems wayyy too fast. This class has so much homework its ridiculous. Ill cut some slack because Calc 2 is very hard, but seriously. The homework. No. Stop it.
I can't... I just can't. Words cannot do justice for how much people hate the Math Dept. because of Kinder. She's late to lecture, lets you late, answers her phone in class, makes tons of mistakes, rushes lectures... all in argueable the most important of the Calculuses. My advice: take another professor or take it at Columbia College.
Kinder has a tendency to go on tangents about things that are not even relevant to the class or about things that her other more advanced classes are doing. These lead to lectures that are not informative and her trying to cram all the material into 5 minutes and never going over it ever again. Exams are very difficult because she wants them to be
HORRIBLE TEACHER! The math department, do better. She sets you up to fail. Her tests are set up awful, her lectures are terrible, and she doesn't care to help you at all. She never answers emails. Had to drop the class due to how bad her tests were set up. I got A's in all other classes. Your grade will NOT show your true knowledge in her class.
The tests in the class are ridiculously hard compared to the course itself and it gives students a major disadvantage when it comes to grades due to how theyre weighted
Prof. Kinder's lecture videos are almost always messed up either factually or technically. She makes many mistakes during the examples in the lectures and oftentimes the videos are only black screens. The exams are very time limited, and individual questions are worth enough points that one mistake could cost a whole letter grade.
Worst teacher I've had in my whole life, including K-12th grade, the fact she got any sort of credibility is beyond me. Awful lectures, horrendus organization of the online course, and unbelievably hard tests. Her job IS TO FAIL YOU, she keeps hundreds of kids retaking classes so S&T can keep profiting, welcome to college! (THIS IS FOR MATH1160)
Worst teacher I have ever had. Half the trig class of 230 failed. She was always late to post lectures and I had to contact the math department about her numerous times. Lectures were always awful and full of mistakes. We were 3 lectures less than a week before the final. Never take a class with her. Take it at the community college if you haveto
Nice person, but she's one of the worst teachers I've ever had. Her class structure is needlessly complicated and exams are weighted to over half of the grade. Gets off topic easily. Spent lectures before exams giving us work not related to math. I had grading errors on homework and she never fixed them, even after multiple reminders. AVOID TAKING!
Professor gets a lot of bad flack due to being late for almost every class, but for the time she was there, she taught very well. She explains the material in a way that is easy to understand. Her exams are hard, but as long as you study and do the homework thoroughly, you should be fine.
