dr renk is awesome. shes very understanding & helpful. she likes to help her students & interact w/ them & get thier opinions.she shows interesting movies to make the time go by, doesnt take attendence & the tests are basic, easy & what she goes over.
Mrs. Renk is a good teacher. She explains things clearly but her tests are not easy. They aren't hard but you must study her notes to do well in the class. The book was of no help either. Don't take her over the summer. Her 4-hour class gets super boring.
The worst class I've taken at UCF...period. I don't recommend her.
very nice professor but hard tests! you have to study everything in her notes and the book.
definitely skip buying the book, but know EVERYTHING in the notes. she is very smart in the field and you can learn a lot from her. she tries to help her students with extra credit, etc. easy B, and you can get an A with good studying. worth taking.
She is HOT! Dr. Renk is my favorite professor ever!
took her over the summer. very long and boring, not her fault. she's nice and willing to help, but tests are very challenging. gets a bit off topic but her stories are fun. take this class if you have time to put into it. not an easy A.
Let me start off by saying Dr. Renk knows her stuff! If you are looking for an easy A you might want to take another professor. Study the Powerpoint notes and you should do well on her semi-difficult tests.
I've taken 2 classes with her, both had lots of movie clips which were on topic and gave a visual representation to the concepts/disorders. Nice and cares about her students. Loves to answer questions. Tests are not easy, but gives study guides. My Advice:know everything about each word on the study guide from notes, then fill in blanks with the book
EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TESTS WERE UNCLEAR AND STUDYING FOR THEM WAS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE HER NOTES DONT HAVE ALOT TO DO WITH THE TEST SHE FOCUSES ON ONE THING AND DOESNT EXPLAIN WELL
She is easy, and interesting, the test are not hard at all, and I was .4 away from the next letter grade and she didn't round it.....:(
Her classes are entertaining because she uses tons of movie clips. Her tests are fairly difficult but if you go to class and study the power point slides you will do fine. She great at helping students but do't expect her to round your grade. She offers plenty of extra credit.
She is one of the most helpful professors at UCF. She uses movie clips and has interesting stories in her lectures. Her tests are a little challenging, just study the study guide and know the notes. She is very knowledgable when it comes to abnormal psy, and child pathology. I would definatley take her agian. Take her if you get the chance.
I love this professor! She is so genuine and nice. You can tell that she is really enthusiastic about teaching, and wants everyone to suceed. Her tests are really not hard as long as you study, and her studyguides are exactly what is on the test, she is really fair. Her class is my favorite. She is never boring, and teaches you stuff u care abou
She is really boring. She basically reads off her powerpoint that she gives you online. However, she makes her tests very specific and sort of hard, for how little she discusses the material or how little in depth she goes. For a psychology class it is very uninteresting. I was bored our of my mind and had to read too much text book!
She is a very nice teacher and gets through her lectures with enthusiasm, she's really into the subject. Her tests may be hard if you dont read and go to class and do the online quizzes. she gives extra credit for each test from 2-5 points. its not a lot but it helps.
Dr. Renk is great. She's very enthusiastic about her sujbect, she knows what she's talking about and is a great public speaker. She has halarious stories too, and she asks for your comments. Tests are easy and straight from the book, she gives study guides and EC. Fun and Easy class.
This class was a joke. Renk is nice, but went off on irrelevant tangents too much and never went in depth enough in her notes. Study guides are vague, tests are hard, and she relies too much on the textbook. Overall, a boring, unnecessarily difficult, and pointless class. It could have been much better with a different professor.
I don't know what Developmental Class those other two people were in but from where I was sitting the class was awful her test are unnecessarily hard, her test outlines are very vague, she doesn't make her own test question so basically you have to remember online quiz question on material that she said would not be on the test! AWFUL TEACHER!
This was a very difficult class, her tests are based all in theories. Studying just the vocabulary won't help, you really need to read the text in addition with her slides. She does give up to five bonus points but it doesn't help too much. She has alot of enthusiasm but often wanders off the topic.
Class was not easy. A lot of studying. Tests were very hard. Renk is a very nice lady though.
Stay away from this professor! She is a waste of time, and is unnecessarily hard!
how do these people become teachers?! DO NOT take her class, i repeat, DO NOT take her class! she has no idea what shes talking about and is constantly rambling about things that don't pertain. i wouldnt trust my children to see her for therapy...they may come out worse!
One of the sweetest teachers; very clear & systematic. The material isn't that easy, especially in summer, but if you study in advance, you get an "A". The course is very interesting in terms of understanding theories, their impact on psychology, & how those theories came to be.
I thought she was a great teacher, I don't really understand what everyone's talking about... for DEP2004 it was really easy, all you had to do was listen in class which was easy because she made it so interesting... lots of videos and cool stuff.. tests were straightforward.. I thought she was sweet, very interesting and fun
Really nice lady, knows her subject well. She uses a lot of videos and examples to clarify concepts. Her tests are really hard though and require a lot of study time. I didn't get that good of a grade in this class, but she really is an excellent teacher. If you really like psych and studying, she'd be perfect for you.
Very nice. Easy class if you study the notes that she gives you online. ALWAYS do the study guide.
Horrible teacher. Took this class in summer B and studied my butt off which still didn't help. She gives study guides and they are useless. Do not take her!
Nice class. Wonderful professor, makes it interesting, shows videos and gets into good discussions. Tests are not easy, you have to do a lot of studying, but its a nice challenge. She does give extra credit. She's very nice!
Prof. Renk is fun and bubbly. Her study guides are a joke, and it is one of those classes where you think you did really well on a test but you wind up with at high B. Shows a lot of interesting movies, I have taken her twice, got B's in both classes but still love it because you actually come out with something.
Useless professor. I was very interested in the subject when I registered for the class but was disappointed that I ended up with such a horrible teacher. Study guides are useless. She talks to students like they are 6-year-olds. She was on maternity leave for over a month at the beginning of the semester & a GTA taught the course; I want her back!
Dr Renk is one of my favorite teachers. Very nice, helpful, bubbly and interesting. That being said, her tests arent easy, getting a B in her classes is something to be proud of. Study guides are general outlines of the chapters so make sure to look up all the stuff in the book that you arent sure is clearly covered in notes. learned a lot from her
I think UCF is lucky to have Dr. Renk as a professor. I've learned a lot in her classes. She does give a little bit of a challenge, but we are in college..
The person below me is correct.i did like the gta better than the actual prof.nice but EXTREMELY boring. this class should have been interesting.couldnt get an A on any of her tests. does give extra credit though. nice lady but kind of does talk to us like were stupid.i got a B in the class.only 3 exams and ec.thats it.
I was really excited to take this class so I was very disappointed that it ended up being so difficult. The study guides are helpful but they are extensive. I found the tests impossible to do well on. Not an easy A, not even an easy B class. Probably would have been a better course if I had taken a different professor.
UGH! Boring is not the word. Dr. Renk tries to be interesting but the topic is boring. I hated lectures and the exams was tricky.
She tries to make it interesting, but there is just too much information in such a short period. If you take this class be ready to have appx. 5 theorists and know all their theories and names and everything. She is very monotone, but her in class lectures help explain the theories. So all you have to do is bear through the boredom and take notes.
Take the other professor who teaches this at all costs. Hard exams and her TA was a MUCH better teacher than her. Lectures are pointless, she just reads the notes posted ahead of time. If you take this just use the class time to sit at home and read the chapter and her notes. I was so interested in this topic, and she managed to make it so boring.
This was my worst class at UCF. I didn't do well on the tests because you basically teach yourself. She reads off the powerpoints like a zombie, then tests you on material she didn't even go over. She also didn't alert the class via email when there was a final exam time change. Very unprofessional!
ha. everything is on the powerpoints which you can download. She just READS THE POWERPOINTS and always phrases her sentences like a question no matter what...and this guy? he invented this certain theoryyy? its kind of based of his past experiences??any questions????DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF. hard as hell tests. study guide sucks too
The class honestly is not that bad. She does talk kinda in a boring way. However, she is really a sweet lady and very knowledgeable. The tests are NOT HARD. I dont know what you all are freaking out about. The test questions are not very specific, which makes studying easier. Take her shes not bad at all!
DO not take her if youre interested in keeping youre grades up, she gives too much info for her exams, doesnt give a good review at all!!! and her exam questions are extremely confusing, half the time you dont know what shes asking for. The class average was a 74...so take her if you want but this is what i know about her.
Very nice lady, but somewhat hard to follow. There are so many different theories in this class, that after a while they kind of all start to sound the same. Usually get As and Bs in psych classes but got a C. Interesting, but hard. Lots to study
Very nice professor! Her lab assignments are pretty confusing, because she assumed her students know the material before hand. However, she was VERY helpful! She wants her students to pass. She is very approachable which is great! I would recommend professor Renk!
Class is very interesting. She is very nice and tries to make sure everyone understands. There are three tests in the class. They're not so hard however there is a lot of material to cover so make sure you're paying attention. Overall I would recommend her for those who are interested in child psych.
Dr Renk's Abnormal Psych class is fun and interesting. She brings a lot of videos and movie clips to allow you to compare a disorder with the subject of the film. Dr Renk walks around & asks questions and allows participation. Her tests are thorough!
I'm astounded that Professor Renk has so many positive reviews. I've never had a professor that could strech teaching 10 slides into 3 hours. EVERYONE in the class seems to know someone with whatever disorder we are talking about and EVERYONE has a question to ask about their friends. I literally want to gauge my eyeballs out during her class.
She's a very sweet woman who loves to engage the class in discussions. It does get annoying when everyone tries to associate disorders to their friends and family. There are only 3 tests for the semester. No quizzes or HW. There are always videos to help pass the time. Make sure you study thoroughly for the tests. Great class, got an A.
Very sweet woman but do not let this fool you. There are only 3 exams and they ARE NOT easy. She goes over the material and relates videos but it is a lot of information for each exam. For the final I studied 15 hrs and ended up with an 89.6 in the class which she DOES NOT round up. I ended up with a B.
Dr. Renk is an amazing professor. She clearly cares about her students and teaching. her tests are really hard, but if you study the notes she gives you'll do well.
LOVED HER CLASS! I took her for summer A, so it's a lot of material really quick, but she goes into detail about the theorists. If you study/memorize the powerpoints you will do great in her class. I barely read the book and still managed to get an "A" in the class.
She is so nice but doesn't help to much, tests are hard to follow! you can think May be I got a b and u got c! lots of info and sometimes her study guides doesn't have to do very much with what she covers in her tests. try to have a B was so hard so can't image about trying an A. Talk talk about friends ans experiences of them to apply in the class
Dr. Renk is by far one of my favorite professors at UCF. She's incredibly helpful, she really cares about everyone in her classes, and her classes are pretty easy to get an A in. I've taken 3 of them and gotten A's in all. LOVE HER!
She was a great teacher, however not very eager to help students out. I had an 89.6 and she gave me a B because she strictly works on the point system and I did not have 270 points. If you are a boarderline person and tend to be on the boarder of grades do not think she will bump you up. She also does not do +/-, which doesn't help.
good teacher.3hr night class, be prepared to have 10 power point slides stretched out for 3 hours! she uses all the class time and sometimes doesn't even finish. attendance isn't mandatory. there are 3 tests and extra credit (use sona system to participate in studies).
Online class. EASY AS CAKE. read the book/power points and you'll ace the quizzes and tests. print out the quizzes cause a lot of questions are repeated on the tests. very good class.
Honestly the best class I've taken at UCF. The discussions are fascinating, the material is made easy for the students. The classes aren't about getting through the slides, but learning the material through discussions. Easy A if you come to class. 3 exams and a discussion post every week with lots of videos. Don't buy book. Sweetest teacher ever!
Online Summer course!!Teacher was great & helpful. Quick to respond to emails and answer questions. Discussion postings very interesting. 16 quizzes 10 questions each and 3 exams. Print all quizzes as most exam questions are from quizzes. Lots of reading. Great teacher, Hope to take her again. Got an A!!
For a summer A online class, it was a lot. 2-3 quizzes every week + a discussion post (that almost always requires you to watch hour length documentaries/videos) and exams every other week, on top of the quizzes. Quizzes are barely enough time to finish them and are hard, but 95-100% of exam q's come from quizzes. Do well on those and youre solid.
I took this class online, the professor did not reach out or try to make any connection . I sent one email to the professor all semester and she sent one back to me, and that is the extent of all our communications.
You need to be serious about this class if choose to take it. 2-3 100 question quizzes a week, 1 exam e/o week, several papers a/i 6 wks. However, it is doable, if you work hard. Dr. Renk responded quickly (within a day) to emails, and opened my hw a week early when I was going to be unavailable one week. You can tell she really cares!
I loved this class and I took it over a 6 week summer session. Professor Renk is for the most part clear in what she expects. Her quizzes and tests can usually be found on quizlet, but don't let that stop you from reading the book. It really helps because she tends to be specific in her questions. Great class, would recommend.
Gen Psy Summer A. You purchase online textbook for weekly quizzes & unit tests. The class was only 6 weeks, we did 3 test (100 question quiz per chapter) each week, which you can do over til 100% which boosts grade. Three unit tests, 50 questions in one hour, 10 SONA points through online (or at school) surveys. Easy, just a lot for 6 weeks.
Renk was such a great professor. Quiz/test questions come straight from the book, though some questions were a little difficult to find. She has power points as well, but I never looked at them & still got an A. The only thing is that the videos we had to watch for discussions could be a little long, so make time! Learned a lot & enjoyed the class!
Worst class. Your grade is basically based on the 4 Exams which are on learn smart and have nothing to do with the weekly modules or study guide. There are group discussions like every other week but they are only worth 5 points so they don't really help your grade. Tests are on learn smart, she never enters assignments, so make sure you check.
This was the easiest class I have ever taken at UCF. She assigns reading assignments and then you take a test on them. And all her test questions are on quizlet. That's about it. Definitely an easy A. It's practically impossible to not get an A.
Dr. Renk is amazing. She makes her coursework fun and engaging. She is very flexible, accommodating and truly cares about her students' success in and outside of the classroom. Probably one of the best professors at UCF. Would take her again in a heartbeat.
Great professor & great class. She's so nice and truly cares about her students. 3 exams with old quiz questions. 15 discussions, 15 quizzes. 1 hour long videos for the discussions, but they're interesting and you basically get to write whatever you want for them. Would take this prof again if I could!!
Great Professor. Took this class during the summer. There were three test with questions from the weekly quizzes, and six discussions. The videos you have to watch for the discussion post are an hour and a half long but they are very interesting so the time goes by fast. She also offers extra credit so it's very hard not to get an A in this class.
Summer A class. Super easy and I would take her again!
I am taking her Developmental Psych Course Online this semester. I just wanted to go ahead and say that the majority of the assignments are on learn smart, which is a REALLY EASY way to learn the material. Very fast feedback, and very well organized course. As a psych major I would definitely recommend this class, very easy A. Great Professor
This class was very easy if you watched the weekly videos and posted your discussion along with the weekly quizzes. The exams were also easy. The textbook was very interesting and needed for the quizzes. Overall the entire class is very interesting, but a very easy A!!
Took this class online. Every week there is a learn smart chapter due and you have to answer 100-150 questions per chapter. Do not waste your time participating in studies for extra credit. I received the max amount of extra credit, and it only raised my grade from an 88.42% to a 88.79%. TAKE WHICHEVER PSYCH COURSE IS OFFERED IN PERSON.
This course was fairly easy and well-paced for an online class. The homework involved a lot of reading but, once you did that, the actual questions in the online book werent too time consuming. The tests were fairly easy if you did the book reading and looked at the lecture notes.
Professor Renk is a very organized professor. She follows the syllabus, and provides extra credit through SONA. There is a reading assignment for every chapter, and approx 4 exams that make up your grade. Very simple and to the point. She is also accessible outside the online platform and is very knowledgeable.
Chapter assignments are very time consuming, took me approximately 2-3 hours each. Weekly discussion are easy though. 3 exams, they were timed. You have to read the chapters in order to find the answers. You won't pass the class if you don't.
I loved this class. 4-5 discussions that were super interesting. The videos can be long so be prepared but again, it's interesting. You need the book for the class to pass the tests. There were 3 exams and they are an hour timed. Her assignments are credit or no credit and they do take some time to do but you don't have to do it in one sitting.
This class is made up of 4 exams & 3-4 discussion posts. As long as you keep up with the class and take notes, you'll do well. The class starts off with a chapter a week & towards the end you have 2/3 weeks with 2 chapters per week and the last week has 3 chapters which was challenging. The exams are online & you are given an hour to complete them.
I enjoyed this course. Weekly homework assignments are TIME CONSUMING, but she gives you the entire week to complete them. Discussions are interesting, and are mostly based on your opinion, which I appreciated. Easy class to be successful in.
I missed ONE deadline since everything is due on Sundays. I still did the test ASAP when I found out. I sent her the most respectful email and told me sorry, too bad. Dropped my grade from 94 to a 73 even though I did every single assignment and aced all of them. Waste of my time. No consideration or empathy at all.
There's about four total discussions, and a lot of chapters(one to two are due weekly). The tests are separated into units, roughly one test per four chapters or so. Her work isn't hard, the textbook is understandable, and you can just use your notes on exams. Very easy and if you prefer to work independently this is the class for you.
Took professor Renk for abnormal psychology. It is honestly a lot of busy work. Each week you have homework assignments from McGraw Hill which are super easy but time consuming. You also have to write a discussion post each week based on a video. Three exams that were easy. Overall, just time consuming not challenging.
I took it online so there were no lectures or anything but its an easy A class, simply just a lot of busy work. I do the homeworks with the week's documentary running in the background so I can get 2 things done at once. Very easy to get 100s on the discussions, they dont have to be super long. Just dont miss anything and youre good
great professor. super easy class, takes a couple hours out of the week. Definitely recommend
Very easy class. Assignments were chapter assignments on McGraw Hill, which is a BUNCH of questions, very time consuming, and weekly discussion posts. For the discussion posts, she gives us a documentary to watch and you just answer the questions she asks about it, and then reply to one person. 3 exams, 50 questions. Time consuming class, but easy.
I felt like Dr. Renk was great the only problem was her TAs, I feel like she needs to reel them in a bit. TAs are harsh graders on discussion posts even when my responses were 7 paragraphs long to encapsulate anything they could want, it still seems they'd take a point off just because they could.
Had a family emergency, went to do the two hw & test on Sunday like usual and turns out she made it for Friday. Sent an email politely explaining my situation and was willing to show proof and she dismissed me so I even got advisors involved and she still said no to my situation even with everything, dropped from an A to a D. Failed by 25 points.
Time management is key in this course, don't wait until the last minute. Lots of busy work, most assignments are McGraw Hill SmartBooks with around 50 concepts each. The class was very interesting, professor is nice, and I would recommend this course as an elective... just do not wait to do everything until the day it is due!!!
Do not take her. She is v
Do not take care. She doesn't care about your life or anything that may be going on with you. Very sarcastic in the way that she responds in emails and almost talks down to you. Terrible prof
