She seems to be a nice person; however, her teaching is subpar. She takes all of her power points from the book, so you can forget about copying them while in class (there are too many). She does not explain the information very well in a way that people who have never taken economics would understand.
Kimberly Sims is NOT a good teacher. I took AP in high school and didn't even pass the first test because what I thought I knew and what she taught were inconsistent. If you have a test conflict- she couldn't care less. No point in talking to her either because she's not very personable. JUST DON'T TAKE HER.
Not a very good teacher at all. She does not explain things clearly and takes all her slides from the book. Very poor at explanations when asking questions as she just repeats the same thing she said. I feel bad for the people who have never taken Economics before because it is almost impossible to learn from her.
Easily the worst professor I've ever had. Her "lectures" are textbook graphics and definitions that she reads aloud. Complete waste of time to go to class except for the clicker questions. I've not learned a single thing from her and thank goodness I've had decent TA's. Take Baker, not Sims.
This class was not what I thought it was going to be... Spent a lot of time confused and caused me to be very uninterested.
Horrible teacher. Runs in circles over topics, can't teach....it's sad.
Not a good teacher at all. I pretty much had to teach myself the material from the textbook. If it wasn't for my TA then I would be failing this class. This subject is hard enough already without her talking in circles.. Definitely take someone else.
Nice teacher, can be a little confusing at points, but once you figure out how she teaches it gets pretty easy. Classes are a joke and everyone just goes to get clicker points. The tests are follow the study guide and only a couple of things are changed. Overall, the class isn't very hard and she is a good teacher but not a great teacher.
Considering economics is a difficult class to do well in and teach, she does a good job. As long as you do the work, the class is hard to fail. She is very clear in her explanations if you pay close attention, and she is very knowledgeable.
Kimberly is a great teacher, you will fail the tests if you don't study, so don't think your grade will be handed to you. I slept through lecture and still pulled a high A. So it's very possible
Kimberly Sims is a good teacher. I would rather have Ken Baker but if, like what happened to me, you get switched over the summer OR his class is full, take Sims. Her reviews are just like the exams and she is quick to respond to emails and really wants you to do good in her class. Very approachable and nice.
She is a very good professor. She is very willing to help either via email or in office hours. Her tests are very close to her reviews. If you need to take 311 she is a very solid choice.
Easy Micro class. Barely went to class, just for the reviews. Drops lowest test grade. All quizzes are online.
Dr. Sims is a great professor, tries very much to make the class a good experience. All in all just do the work and study the practice exams before test and an A is very possible!
Great teacher! Gives you every opportunity to make a passing grade.
TERRIBLE teacher, but very easy class. She doesn't do a good job of teaching the concepts, just tells you what they are straight from the book. I pretty much had to teach myself the material. Go to class to get you clicker points then only go on test days. Easy labs. Take at your own risk.
I don't want to say she was a bad teacher, but she really didn't teach well. Just made powerpoints and hammered through them. Really had to teach myself by using the book to complete the online quizzes. You will fail the tests if you don't study. She made up for this terribly boring class by making an easy final.
Professor Sims is incredibly helpful outside of class, but her power-points in class are extremely unnecessary because she powers through them - which doesn't really help you learn the material. If it wasn't for her paper and final exam I probably would have struggled to maintain a B in the class.
Dr. Sims is an incredibly kind woman who will do everything to help you make a good grade. Econ is hard! So it won't be easy. But she drops your lowest 2 quizzes and an exam. The ungraded reviews are exactly like the problems on the exams, and she posts the problems all worked out! I knew NOTHING about econ and did well, so you can too.
She has a quiz due every tuesday by midnight. They're somewhat difficult sometimes but you get 4 tries on each one. She drops the 2 lowest ones as well. Labs are obnoxious but they help. You can learn everything she teaches in class from the textbook. She requires a clicker for her class. The tests have been fairly straightforward and easy.
Overall I liked her. She does make you work for the grade but it is do-able. Make sure you study for the exams from the practice exams especially. Is very clear cut and fair with grading. I would take her again
Mrs. Sims is a wonderful lady, but she makes it very clear very early that she cannot bend the rules for one person. Go to class, pay attention, and do the learnsmarts. They will help more than I can express. I need a 92.5 on my final to barely squeak by with an A. That being said, I skip almost all my labs and didn't do the extra credit. Take her!
Professor Sims is a wonderful lady. Her class is tough, but she is there to help you along the way. The test were tough, but she gave ample amount of help with the practice test, labs, and homework assignments. Seek help if you need it. The final was really easy! And there's no real curve, but you get extra points!
Lectures are not mandatory but there are clicker questions. Tests usually aren't hard and she puts every slide online. Final consists of randomly selected questions from other tests, so memorize those and you'll make a 100 on your final.
She uses clickers for attendance and review questions. Lecture is interesting and labs are very helpful. She handles the class well even tho it is a 300 person class. Just study for tests with all the material and homework she gives you and you will do well!
Attendance isn't necessary, but she does have clicker questions every class. You only need 30 by the end of the semester though. Labs weren't very helpful, but homework and LearnSmart assignments help. The tests are pretty easy if you study.
Knows her information. Not great at keeping people interested, but her homework assignments teach the course for you. Absolutely have to do them or you will struggle in the class
Not an easy class, but she always answered any questions I had in office hours. Show up to class because the examples you work through are exactly what is on the exam.
Professor Sims' class isn't too difficult. Go to class for clicker points. It's hard to pay attention in lecture, but the online homework will help you learn and she makes it due before lecture. Labs are an absolute joke!
Take her! Awesome professor, enjoyed lectures. She is funny and if you talk to her often, she is very helpful. Learnsmarts due once a week (take 15 minutes), homework due every few weeks. Exams are tricky with the wording, but if you understand the concepts you will do fine. Great class, great professor. I learned a lot about economics. TAKE HER!
Not the best teacher... I basically learned everything on my own through the book. The final is just random questions from the test.
She is a great teacher. If you actually go to class and pay attention, it's an easy class! If you do all the homeworks and learnsmarts (easy 100's) then you will be golden. The final exam is just questions copy and pasted from prior exams. Great class.
Econ with Sims isn't bad if you put effort into it! Do the homework and Learnsmarts she assigns. Tests are tricky if you don't understand the concepts as a whole, I recommend reading the chapters in the book and reviewing her lecture slides. I have never had a econ class before and made an A, so if I can do well then anyone can do well!!
Professor Sims was really great! Although I found econ to be challenging, she was really good at explaining things so they made sense. The tests weren't terrible and she curved all of them at least 5 points. The labs also really helped to break everything down so it was more understandable.
I thought Econ was easy so this might be biased. What she expects of you is clear cut. Tests are very similar to material taught and study guides given. Does clicker questions almost every class. Not the greatest teacher, but definitely a great person and gets the job done for the course.
She is the worst prof I have ever taken. Had I not taken econ in highschool I would have been so lost in this class. Her lectures contain minimal material to actually know. Her tests are worded terribly and the final was nothing like the practice exams. Not sure if even she knows econ - cannot answer any questions. you will have to teach yourself.
The worst professor of all time!!! Never have had any profs that have no talanted at teaching like her before. Lecture is easy but homework, clicker questions, and exams are tough. 2x tougher than what she teaches.
Course can be hard but Prof Sims gives you the tools you need to succeed. Utilize office hours with professor and TA's. Online text book is required. I bought the loose leaf copy for $20 and it was very helpful.
The tests are worth 75% of your grade and they are super hard. You have to study and not get behind or your grade will suffer. She does clicker points every class. Homework is tricky but does prepare you for the test so make sure to do them and understand them. This class is not a walk in the park but as long as you try you will do fine
I thought Professor Sims was a great professor. She seemed very uptight at first, but she's really sweet. The tests were slightly difficult, but doable if you study and put time into it. The lectures were kinda crammed, so don't rely only on notes for the test. Overall, I enjoyed her as a professor.
This was the first Econ 211 class at UT and she did a great job. Lectures were somewhat interesting as she used pop culture references to get peoples attention. Everything on the test was discussed in lectures. Tests were average difficulty.
Professor Sims is a very nice lady and incorporated a lot of pop culture into her lectures but she is not a very good teacher. I have attended every class, taken notes and studied and still haven't done well in there. She is not good at explaining the topics. Your whole grade is based off of three very hard tests that cover too much information.
I really liked Professor Sims. By far, the best thing she does is the clicker questions. She takes credit on 40 of the questions but she offers probably close to 70 throughout the semester. She also drops a ton of Sapling/FlipIts. Tests were fair game and usually were curved.
Sims tries her best to help students bc she knows Econ is hard. her tests are SO HARD. but she curves all of them and drops 4 homework assignments and this semester she even changed the weight to make our best exam weigh more than the others to help us out. if you take her get ready to study but that's just Econ anyways
Of course econ is not the easiest subject for many people, but Sims gives you many chances to pad your grade. She drops your lowest 4 hw grades, only requires you to get 40 out of the 70 total clicker points to get a 100%, and curves the test. She's also funny and uses pop culture references to connect with her students. Make sure to study though
Profesor Sims only lectures and I did not learn much in class, but a lot from the homework. Clicker points are how she takes her attendance, so when you hit your points you do not have to go anymore. Very interesting person.
I hated this class. I spent so much time outside of class trying to make up for her awful teaching and it wasn't enough. LAST resort professor at best.
Pros: Professor Sims is a great professor and does a great job teaching this class. Both she and her TA are very accessible outside of class. She gives a ton of extra credit and the tests are all multiple choice. Cons: Her lectures can get boring sometimes, but hey, it's economics. Other than that, I really have no complaints.
She would give at least a 6 point curve on every test, and each test is weighted differently. For example, your highest score would count 40% and your lowest is 10%, which is really helpful for your grade. The lectures are pretty boring but she does clickers. She gives you plenty of resources to study for tests.
She is not the best lecturer, but her tests are easy. Basically the first half of the class I took notes but when the study guide came out for the exam they didn't really help me so I stopped taking notes and just read the book starting a few days before the exam and passed with a really high A. Read and you'll be fine.
Just go to lectures & you're fine. People say the exams are hard but if youve taken AP Macro/Micro it's just typical multiple choice, & easier at that. Don't really need to read & a lot of hw is just watching videos, so I worked solely off of lectures and got 100s on first 2 exams (w/ curve). She's funny, interesting & accommodating. Clicker atten.
Prof. Sims focuses on Economics mainly for business students. A lot of students would not give her the credit she deserves. She is caring and provides material for exams. When looking at negative reviews on Professor Sims, you must remember that this class is composed of freshman and soph, who go out 3-5 days a week and don't put in the time needed
Sims goes fast in class, so pay attention. Clicker questions everyday. Generally people do bad on tests, but there's a curve. I look over the power points and do practice exam before the tests and have done well on all of them. The homework's are not bad since people would send the answers in GroupMe. Bridge's are NOT mandatory (sapling& PCT's are)
A lot of people are too tough on Prof. Sims. I think she is a fine teacher. Her lectures are helpful, though she draws too many graphs. Before each exam, she gives you plenty of resources to study, including a TA lead review session, which is super helpful. Use those, and read the chapters being tested, and you're gonna be golden.
She is a nice lady, but her lectures are very boring and can be better. She thinks she is funny but she is not. We use clickers for attendance. She curves every test because her tests are TOUGH VERY TOUGH! I barely studied and ended up with a C+. If you just study you can pass.
ECON211 was super easy. We were given two options for our final grade, one more test-heavy and one more homework-heavy. Originally you had to have 75% of the clicker questions which she eventually bumped down to like 55-60% to get a 100 in the clicker section. Easiest class I have ever taken just make sure you read through each question.
I personally enjoyed Sims, theres a lot of homework, and you need to STUDY for the exams. Skip once and you're behind. Sims does her best to make sure everyone understands the materials, and does curve her tests since they're harder than most other classes. Study, go to class, you'll be fine.
I loved having Sims. She is very knowledgeable and enjoys teaching. She does a great job of explaining the material and incorporating real world examples. Clickers for attendance. Read the txtbk and do the homework, but she always covers the main topics in class. Worksheets and practice exams always helped before tests. Will take again for Econ 213
Kimberly is a great professor and her class was very interesting. She moves quickly through the material, so attendance is necessary if you want to keep on pace. Basically, come to class, don't sit on your phone the whole time, do the pre-lectures and homework, and attend the review sessions and you'll be fine.
I had Sims for micro and macro econ and enjoyed her. Most people recommend Baker for 212 but honestly Sims curves a lot and if you keep up with notes and studying you will do very well without a lot of effort. biggest advice is go to her office hours. I would go before her test and she would explain everything and I would do great.
Prof Sims is a great teacher. She is extremely heavy on lectures, but if you show up and take notes you'll do fine. She always gives a practice test before the actually exams. Don't be intimidated by the amount of questions. Exams are curved for a nice class average.
If you took Sims for 211, then you know exactly what to expect. Take advantage of the study group with the TA before the test and use the practice tests. Sims will gladly explain anything you aren't understanding.
Great teacher, very fair. Do what your supposed to and youll pass.
PROFESSOR SIMS IS SO FUNNY. I absolutely loved her. The tests are fairly hard, but I hardly studied and averaged around an 80. Homework is easy and boosts your grade. Make sure to do clicker questions which count as your attendance points.
She does a great job of giving you the tools you need to be successful and tries to make the class fun. For tests she gives you a review sheet of all the possible things that can be on the test. Homework and attendance are optional if you're good at tests with her grading scale. Would recommend easy A. Always gives extra credit question on test.
Professor Sims is easily one of the best professors at UTK. Her lectures are well put together, class can be fun, and she makes sure the test material is crystal clear. Don't skip because she does clicker questions. Microeconomics was great with Professor Sims, so I'm taking Macroeconomics with her as well. 10/10 Professor who cares about students
does easy clickers for points, she really cares about students understanding the material, makes the test material very clear and accessible through canvas, she makes lectures fun and relatable, there's participation videos that are easy 100s and homework is super easy! great grade boosters! she also curves the tests a lot!
Professor Sims is great at teaching and wants you to succeed. The first exam felt hard only because I did not put in effort. As soon as I started paying attention to lectures, I started doing well on both homework and exams. The point is if you pay attention there's no way you won't get an A. She is passionate, caring, and approachable
I loved Professor Sims. She was such a nice person and cares about her students. Each class is a lecture but she is interesting to listen to and adds a personal touch to each lecture. She really wanted everyone to do well. Overall, her class was my favorite from last semester.
A great teacher! The class size was too big for my taste, but she tries to make the material as relatable to her audience as possible. Tests were easy if you studied and did the practice tests. The class is not difficult, you don't really even need to read the textbook. Just do what she says and study a little and you will be fine.
Kim Sims is such a great professor! I cannot recommend taking her class enough. I found her to be extremely clear and her tests and assignments were very easy. She is also super nice and caring, and is definitely not scary or intimidating in the least! I actually learned a lot in her class and never stressed about it. Overall a great professor!
Others in the class had a hard time following her teaching style, mainly because they didn't actually put in their own necessary work to keep up with the pace of the course. As long as you follow along, engage/pay attention, and take good notes you should pass with minimal effort. Studied maybe 1 hour for the final and got a A.
There's 2 grading styles: one relies on hw & tests, the other is just tests. So if you test well, you don't have to do the hw. She's so nice & her lectures are interesting for econ. She always finds a way to connect the lectures to real world. HW is super easy and tests are curved a little. Reviews are very similar to the tests.
Sims is one of the most helpful professors you'll get in a large required business course like econ. She gives really helpful study guides and practice exams. She is also just a really cool person who wants you to do well in her class. Listen to the lectures and ask her for help. If you put the work in you will do well in this class.
Sims is a great teacher. She really cares about her students and made it really easy to study for the tests. I thought the tests were fair and if you study enough you'll do good, she also curved a generous amount.
Overall a great professor!! She introduces topics with real life problems.
Professor Sims is a great lecturer, and she can be pretty witty at times too. In ECON211, as long as you take good notes and pay attention to the lectures, with a little studying for exams (in my experience), you will do great. She also has great extra credit opportunities. She's always very clear; I've never even had to email her about confusions.
I took Professor Sims for both ECON 211 & 213. Both were online because of COVID but I absolutely loved her teaching style. She allows a one sided cheat sheet on her exams. The exams also had pretty big curves with about 10ish points being added to each exam I took in her class. Also provides a lot of exam practice materials. Great for economics.
Really good teacher. If you pay attention during the lectures and do the homework the class is really easy
She is very nice. The material is somewhat difficult, but she does a good job in lectures. There are clicker quizzes every class, but she makes them very fair. She is super willing to help and answer questions. She is very accommodating and understanding. She knows the material and really seems to love her job.
Professor. Sims is one of the best professors at UTK. She teaches very well, ends before class time, gives extra help, provides extra credits, and picks two grading criteria whichever gives you the higher grade, she will use it.
She is truly a caring and funny professor who can make something as boring as econ fun and entertaining. The tests are hard but if you study and read you will do fine. Take her!
One of the best teachers ever! She clearly explains economics and the homework and short videos are very useful. The exams are very similar to the practice she provides. Study a little and go to class and you'll pass with ease.
She's nice and communicates well, 300 times better than Latonya in every way possible.
Professor Sims is great. She always answered my emails in a timely manner, offers extra credit points on exams, and usually adds a curve as well. Be prepared as she moves quickly through lectures and attendance is mandatory. Overall, she truly wants her students to do well and understands economics is not easy for everyone. Take her if you can!
You can definitely not go wrong with Sims
Prof Sims is probably the best professor I've had thus far in college. She made econ so interesting to learn. It is obvious that she genuinely cares about her students and the subject in general! You won't regret taking econ with her!
This woman is a true gem and I have loved having her. She responds quickly, gives clear expectations of exams, allows cheat sheets, and really helps you understand foreign topics. Only con would be sometimes she goes fast but it's worth it.
sims is a great professor. the exams are way easier than the practice ones so don't get scared. homework is hard but it's not a lot of your grade. the only annoying thing is clickers are required and sometimes she goes fast. but she is very kind and wants students to succeed. definitely taking her again for econ213.
Allows two different overall grading options, one with grading homework and one without. Sometimes she moved a little fast in the lecture but I think she explained things pretty well. The online pre-class tutorials made it easier to understand the material before learning each chapter. Exams were online and you were allowed one cheat sheet.
Professor Sims is a great teacher. She wants to see you succeed and is willing to help you out if you have any problems in the class. The only negative thing I would say is that she covers the material very quickly, so I really had to spend a lot of time outside of class sometimes trying to understand what she taught.
I loved Sims as a econ 211 professor. I took her in the fall and baker for 213 in the spring and that is my biggest regret. If you are reading this, don't pay attention to her rating because she's much better than a 3.4. She curves every exam and there are only 3 that are not that hard.
Professor Sims is a great Econ professor, who everyone should take if they get the opportunity.
Professor Sims is a great teacher. She explains the concepts well and gives you plenty of resources to study from. The course is heavy on clickers, but I do feel like they helped me learn the info thoroughly. Tests aren't too hard and she curves them all. Professor Sims made this class easy and I'd take her class again in a heartbeat
Professor Sims is amazing, people are complaining about the hw but it was easy and you get multiple attempts with super super small point deductions. She responds to emails quickly and let me take the final early to fit my schedule better. She curves every test and offers extra credit on them, only 3 exams the and the final isn't cumulative
Professor Kimberly was one of the most understanding and best professors I have ever had. She allows for makeups on late homework or tests. She is always giving extra credit opportunities. She is also very funny and relatable and tries to make learning economics as fun as possible. I would definitely take her again.
Kimberly is an amazing professor who is very accommodating to her students. Her lectures are recorded so you can watch them if you were to miss a class. Her exams are extremely easy. I skipped every class and still managed to get an A so that should say something.
Professor sims was a very easy class. The curve she gives is huge on most exams.
Prof Sims genuinely cares about her students doing well. She curves exams and lets us have a cheat sheet. She is easy to talk to and doesn't make you feel dumb for not understanding.
Sims was amazing! She totally cares about your well-being in and outside of her class. She curves which is also amazing (my 31/36 and 32/36 exam scores turned into 95% and 104% with the curve). My tip: go to class for clickers, do the homework and if needed read the textbook for some extra understanding. Love her so much!
Prof. Sims is great. She uses fun examples and clicker questions to explain the topics. She made me really interested in Economics.
Professor Sims is awesome. Her lectures and clicker questions are very interesting and interactive. She is really good at simplifying concepts so they are easy to understand. If you pay attention in class and study for the exams, it will be a breeze. She allows a cheat sheet on all of her exams.
Go to class, do the clickers, finish PCTs and homework on time, and I guarantee you that you will succeed. Economics isn't a super easy class, but professor Sims does a great job of making it as simple as she possibly can. I found this course fairly easy, but I think that depends on if economics comes more naturally to you.
Professor Sims was one of my favorites I've had at UT. While the content itself isn't interesting, she works hard to make it make as much sense as possible. She is funny and compassionate without being a pushover: I learned a lot and had fun doing it. If you enjoy learning and feeling accomplished at the end of the year, this is the class for you.
Econ was difficult for me but she's really approachable. She make two separate grading scales in order to accommodate different types of students, and I really liked that. Due to clicker grades my overall grade went up so much, so attendance isn't mandatory but you need to go. If you do the homework and pay attention you'll do fine.
Her lectures are very informative and she is willing to help you if you need it. She goes over everything in-depth, in class. If you take notes and study the notes and in-class worksheets, you will be fine. You're allowed to have a cheat sheet on tests and her tests correlate super well with the material she goes over in class.
she will show you her artwork in class. slay
A teacher who genuinely tries. Helpful lectures. Not perfect, but apply yourself some and go to pre-exam reviews by TA which are helpful. Biggest downside if you are not going to ever know your grade.
Professor Sims is one of my favorite professors by far! Her lectures are very insightful and she does not just read off the slides. You can tell she really cares about her students grades and wants everyone to succeed. If you do the homework, go to class, and put in effort it is an easy A. Her tests are not tricky and she posts tons of review.
Professor Sims really is a caring person and you can tell she really wants you to succeed! She knows Econ can be tough, so she doesn't make her class overwhelming. The downsides I have are that you have to go through your TA for everything and also throughout the semester you have no idea what your grade is because of clicker questions.
Professor Sims is a good professor, but lacks explanation on lots of topics. When asked questions she doesn't answer very clearly or explain very well. The class is very easy and the homework is easy. You get a cheat sheet for exams and she usually curves the exam grades.
311 is a lot of math - as someone not super "mathy" it was intimidating, but Prof. Sims really does the most she can do make it easy for you. Our exams were curved and the final was a cumulative HW that wasn't stressful. The HW will take you as long as it says it does in the syllabus, so start early. If you liked her for 211, you will for this too!
Prof Sims was great. The class is math heavy, but the exams are curved and have some extra credit. She explained all the concepts very well. Couldn't recommend her class enough.
Professor Sims was one of the best professors I've had since coming to UTK. She's very caring, understanding, and will work with you and help you out in any way. I have to take macro next semester and I'm bummed that she doesn't teach it or I would defiantly have picked her.
I love this women and wish I had her as a professor for every class. Truly a class act.
Love her but IDK what I have in the class because grade calculation is disabled
Professor Sims is a great professor. If you show up to class and put in some effort to understand the content, you will be okay. You get a cheat sheet for the exams. She also posts lectures in case you miss class for any reason. She takes feedback from students and supplies you with practice problems and review sessions.
Professor Sims is the best Econ professor at UTK. Hands down. She teaches the material in a way that makes it seem easy. She is very knowledgeable about economics and will answer any question you have. She also offers good review material and extra practice material to prep for exams. Wish she would teach macroeconomics.
Genuinely the best prof here at UT. Makes a big class feel small and is super funny and super caring. She cares a lot about her students. Always puts a curve on the tests and provides opportunities for extra credit. I studied an average amount and haven't gotten less than a 100 on any exam.
Prof Sims is sick. She is always making lectures interesting, providing real-world examples, and sharing things about herself, which I didn't think would be nice, but made her relatable. She gives out a ton of extra credit on exams, and always curves it as well as allowing a full page cheat sheet as well. Take it with Prof Sims, trust. :)
Sims is a great professor! She is very understanding when it comes to the in-class clickers. She is a very generous grader; extra credit + a curve. The big lecture environment and fast-paced lecture style made it hard to keep up at times, but recorded lectures were always helpful and made the content easy to comprehend. STAN KIM SIMS FOR CLEAR SKIN
Great professor who is super passionate about what she teaches. Offers 2 different grading scales if you aren't a great test taker. Tests have a curve and extra credit. Clickers done every class that you have to do to succeed. Recommend rewatching lectures before tests and you'll do great. Honestly, my fault that I finished with a B.
I really liked Professor Sims. She was a great teacher, nice, and curves most of the exams. If you don't make a good grade in this class it's because you didn't attend class, just pay attention and study for the exams and you will do fine.
Gives extra credit and a curve on the exams. Lectures are important and attendance is graded. Overall she is a very good teacher and I would take her again.
Fantastic professor. Curves are heavy on tests! she is awesome. I 100% would take her courses in the future.
Professor Sims is what a professor should be. She cares about her students and is extremely helpful outside of class. Her Economics 211 course was not a breeze but was not impossible if you paid attention in class. Take her if you can.
Professor Sims is one of the best out their. I was scared of this course because economics is hard but she did a really good job at explaining things. Whenever I thought the world might come crashing down she answered my questions. Extremely understanding and made class enjoyable and worth going to. Clicker points counts so pay attention!!
Professor Sims lectures were easy to understand. She writes her own notes as she teaches instead of using a slides presentation. Allows a sheet of paper with notes during tests. Very clear expectations. Would happily take her class again! Take good notes and you'll do well.
Professor Sims is really sweet. Read the textbook, and do the online homework. It was a challenging class but you get a cheat sheet for exams. Expect to do lots of worksheets and practice in-class.
Kimberly is honestly so great. She explains all the concepts super well and gives good feedback. Some exams were more difficult and some were easy. There are daily clickers tho so you gotta be there. If you go to class, it is super easy. She is super funny too. She makes weed jokes all the time.
TAKE KIMBERLY! She is the best and so understanding. She helped me so much through this class. She truly cares about her students and gives great lectures. The exams are difficult but as long as you show up and study the material you should be fine. Seriously, she is the best. I could not recommend her enough.
Professor Sims was down to earth and pretty funny. I was in the huge lecture version of her class so attendance was with point solutions. Cares about her students and gives plenty of resources for them to succeed. It was easy to slack off because I had to put in a lot of work outside of class time since the concepts were hard to grasp sometimes.
Professor Sims is great! She makes economics interesting to learn when the lectures are very boring. She provides a ton of great examples and provided students with extra resources. She is super understanding and caring. She gives a lot of chances to seek help and wants her students to do good in this class. Overall a great professor and person!
Econ 211 lectures are huge, so they're difficult to teach, but Professor Sims does a really good job despite this. As long as you come to class and complete your weekly assignments on time, getting an A should not be hard. The exams are not cumulative; you get a cheat sheet, and they are online.
Take Prof. Sims, she is a wonderful professor! The class itself was not too bad as long as you put in the effort and show up to class. The tests were decently hard, but as long as you do the extra credit that she provides as well as the one-sided piece of note paper for it, you'll do ok. She's also really funny and interesting to listen to.
As long as you pay attention in class you'll and understand the homeworks, you'll be fine. Make sure to understand the graphs she does in class and the notes she passes out. I failed the first test and was able to get my grade from a C back up to an A just by coming to classes and following along.
Kimberly Sims is the best professor I have had at UTK. She is so nice, lectures go by fast, and she is genuinely a great teacher. If you take good notes and take advantage of the cheat sheet on exams you will do well.
Prof. Sims makes Econ interesting and engaging. The class requires effort, but with her helpful resources and support, you can do well. Unstuck ai was a game-changer for my study prep - highly recommend it alongside the course materials.
She explains very well, does go kind of fast though. She is so sweet. Talk to her if you can. :)
Easiest econ professor at UTK and awesome person
Easily one of the best professors at UTK. Great lectures, study materials, and extra credit opportunities. She is very caring and always willing to discuss things deeper or make accommodations for you. She has a great way of teaching and setting you up to succeed.
Professor sims was a solid professor. she structured the class where it is very easy to get an A and genuinely wants to help. She does do clicker points, but I got like 50 percent and ended with an A.
There are clickers in every class, but you only have to get 75% of your clickers to end with a 100% clicker grade. All tests are online with Proctorio. I wish she taught ECON 213. Such a great teacher and keeps lectures interesting!
Professor Sims is awesome!! Definitely get her class if you can. Lecture can sometimes be boring (mainly because of the material), but Professor Sims does a good job of keeping students engaged. She gives so many opportunities to get help and genuinely cares for her students.
This class met in a huge lecture hall but it made me fall in love with Econ. It is not very personal but she makes the material easy to understand.
I love Professor. Sims, but her class was not the easiest I had. Since there is so much to learn, you need to be ready to take notes at all times and make sure to pay attention to her graphs, which are crucial for your exams.
She is very nice but not very personal and her lectures are mainly confusing graphs, which you NEED to know for tests. She does a good job of explaining but the material can be confusing. Her homework assignments can either be very easy or hard. Exams are difficult and you should take the time to review the study guides.
Enjoyable professor that's kind and accommodating. Nothing outstanding about her lecture style, but it's definitely easy to digest if you pay attention. One of the only courses at UT with a dedicated SI session, so exams with a cheat sheet were lightwork.
Sims was a great professor! I often struggled in Economics during high school, so I was nervous for this Micro class. She made everything super easy to understand by using real world examples of topics. There is not homework after every lecture and there are a ton of easy A's throughout the semester. I would 100% take this course again!
Sims is a great professor. Her lectures were boring but to the point. I don't think any other prof could make it more interesting. I took AP in high school and got a 2 on the exam. Ending this class with a 97. Also loved the SI sessions and leader. You also get a note paper on each test. Attendance is through clicker. Easy A if you try a little.
She is such a good professor! Truly cares about her students, is flexible and accessible, and clearly explains things in class. You need to read the textbook, and there's really no way around it if you really want to know the material. Three exams, weekly homework, and one tiny presentation make up the grade, and you have a lot of time to prepare.
Sims was a very good professor overall. She is so sweet and made the lectures as interesting as she could. I was not good at econ, so this class was harder for me, but if you come to class, take notes, and listen, you'll do fine. Also, go to the SI sessions! Those saved me a lot!! Great practice for the exams.
Sims was a great professor! She made the lectures more engaging and workload was manageable. She does take attendance through clicker questions, so I would highly recommend going to class. I also enjoyed our SI Instructor, Landry! She does an AMAZING job at reinforcing the material and preparing us for the exams.
I thought she was great at teaching this class and gave great resources. Just be ready for clickers!
She is overall a good professor, but she goes through lectures entirely too fast. Be prepared to have your fingers fall off trying to keep up with drawing graphs. Other than that, the class is not that bad. Show up, and it will make sense, although attendance isn't mandatory she still does clickers.
Very kind professor. I always felt bad for her because only like 12 out of 300 students showed up to our online lectures consistently, but she was always there and ready to teach regardless. Econ is a really hard class with some really difficult topics, but professor Sims definitely made it easier to grasp.
Really good lectures. Tests are kind of difficult in the beginning but not bad once you get used to them.
