(had for Cr. Writ. as well)Unlimited re-do's, very knowledgeable, Highly recome
She made everyone comfortable with an uncomfortable topic (speech). Recommended!
Clear on what was expected of you. I Had to work hard for my grade.
You need to work in this class to get a good grade. WORTH IT!!!!
She's awesome, fun and always willing to help. Love this class!!! Recommended!!
Wonderful teacher and person. I will never forget her.
Ms. Wyngarden is very helpful and a great persone
Very opinionated, but if you bend to her will, you can get an A.

great teacher! allows rewrites! just keep up with the writings!
Dedicated
Boring... My first impression was that she would be easy but that was not the case. You are guaranteed to do many rewrites in this class...
She helped me get my start in writing. I credit her with getting me to care about my craft. I am now a journalist and still remember her teachings.
She is a great teacher and she is fair. She makes me love to write. She is stiked in hand in assigments on time but more than helpful.I take her again in English 146 in Creative Writing I love to listen to her lectures. I was never bored
AWESOME TEACHER! SHE CARES AND IT REALLY SHOWS IN HER CLASSES. SHE EXPECTS A LOT OUT OF HER STUDENTS BUT IS MORE THAN WILLING TO HELP THEM WITH ANYTHING. THE BEST ENGLISH TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD!
Ok I am a 4.0 student and I struggled here. If you want to work your ass off take this class. You have to do tons of writing and re-writes to get an A. She will spend as much time with you as you need, her heart is def. in writing.
I took the 7 week course so it was harder anyway. But. I think she was very clear, helpful and understanding. If you do the work and are a decent writer you will do well. She was also very complimentary of my talents. Taking her class helped me ace 102.
If someone make me to be writing than she does.I Love her teaching style. She is great. If ever I will write a short story to the puplic I will anounce her.
I love writing and most will say that i am very talented. I took this class hoping to open my mind to more creative thought, not with her! She's nice, but unless your ready to read 5 stories every week, have at least 3 assignments, - long boring lectures.I wouldnt take it your bound to hate writing.
She is an awesome creative writing teacher. She is extremely nice and very helpful. There's a lot of writing and revising required, but it's writing so don't expect less. For an A, you definitely have to make conferences with her and revise your work. I highly recommend her
This lady turned me off of writing. She gives monotonous homework assignments, which she never collects and doesn't understand the creative mind. She tries to connect to students, but it doesn't happen. She doesn't care about her students. She may teach EN 100/101 well, but not creative writing!
I believe that she needds to spend more time to help her student understand what she requires for the class. I think that she should either be a teacher or a student not both at the same time.
I tell you I learned so much about myself and who to write. She is the greatest English teacher I had. Turn in you assignments, participate and don't com to class late. I grades fairly and she is my inspiration.
I think she tries but has too much going on. There were times when she was nice and times when she was really rude. I didnt have too many problems with her assignments but they overlap and it is a lot of work to keep up with. this isnt the only class people are taking!
She is excellent teacher! When the class started and she graded the first papers I realized that a lot of work is needed if i want A. And After rewriting a bunch of papers I got it! She IS good and you leave the class with a lot of new AND useful knowledge!
She is a nice lady, but really boring. She gives you a chance to revise papers. However if you dont do it her way it doesnt matter. Fairly easy class.. Lots of busy work. Often feels like High School handouts!
I really enjoyed her class. She's helpful and informative. She seems to genuinly care about her students and took time to get to know me personally which was a first. I'd definatly take a class with her again.
Easy Class and at times fun. she lets you write about whatever you want. Is very clear in what she expects out of you and in a 45 year old way she is funny. One of the best En teachers out there. Likes to hear what students have to say good or bad.
Excellent teacher. Learned a lot, painlessly. Work is paced so you don't get overwhelmed. I highly recommend this professor.
I wouldn't recommend this class unless you need a lot of help writing. I don't. I just took the class for the credit, and because I like to write. If you're looking for an "easy A," take another class where you also might learn something new.
She is a great teacher, but expects a lot of writing out of her students. Allows you to revise your work and gives excellent feedback on how to improve your writing. I would take another class with her.
Perhaps she was having a bad semester, but it felt like pulling teeth during each and every class period. Helpful at times, mean at others. Make sure nothing horrific happens in your life where you have to miss class, because she won't let it slide and she WILL drop your grade...
love her! highly recommend! easy A but do have to do work, well worth it though!
This is probably the best professor that I have had to date.
great teacher
I loved her! She is hillarious and I was really touched by her willingness to get to know me as a person. My writing improved greatly, even though I already have a fair hand at writing. I am actually sad that class is over. She expects A LOT of writing but you can choose your own topics. I will greatly miss her and this class.
Great teacher. Is always willing to help you when you need it. Explains everything clearly. She also lets you redo paper to get a better great. I love the class.
She is a nice individual but treats us "College Students" as if we are twelve. I feel like she is going to come in and say, "ok kids, get out your coloring books it crayon time." Other than that she is a nice individual.
She is really tough with papers, but you are able to redo them, so that's nice. She's pretty decent teacher - really likes what she does and makes it somewhat interesting.
Smart, teaches to the upper level student. Really knows how to help you write a better paper.
Knows her stuff and provides interesting stories to help students better understand.
She is an awesome teacher. I am learning a lot from her. I didn't like her at first because she gave us some much to do in so little time. Now I think that it is worth it, considering how much I have learned from her. I highly recommend taking her as an EN teacher.
Very knowledgeable about fiction, but little else. Seems confused by other genres of writing. If you write in another genre (urban fantasy, literary horror, mystery, etc.) stay away from her class- she will try to assimilate it to fiction. Tends to talk down to students. Don't be late, she'll lock you out (despite being late herself.)
She was very helpful in pushing me to write in different ways than anyother professor has done for me. She gives you great feed back. I loved that she gave us assignments. Plus the book she uses is a great tool too for the class in finding ideas for the manuscript. Revison is a big deal for her!
The best part about her class was that after essays were graded, we could revise them and resubmit for a higher grade as many times as it took to get whatever grade you want. As long as you follow her guidelines, you can get an A. True, you may have to sacrifice a little individuality in your writing, but it's only an intro class, after all.
She's very knowledable and opinionated. She doesn't mind a good arguement as long as it's done respectfully though. Kind of alot of hw. She's nice and a good teacher. If you like to write, take this class with her; she'll help improve your writing!
I liked her class. Lots of homework and she grades tuff. The good news is she lets you rewrite papers to get a better grade. Good prof.
Great prof., she is very interested in her students and helping them improve their work. She is a straight forward grader, so the amount of work you put into your paper reflects your grade. Gives you a chance to re-write your papers as many times as you want to keep improving your grade. I would recommend her to all.
She is incredibly helpful, is always willing to hear you out and will improve your writing if you are willing to work with her. She does not accept late work - which is a good thing!- and expects everyone to participate in discussions. Overall, she's about as great a professor as you could find, whether in CC or otherwise.
Absolutely LOVED her. She was a great learning experience for me. She lets you redo your papers as many times as you want until you get the grade you want. Actually cares about her students. Makes a boring english class actually fun with activities and movies and stories!! seriously, take this teacher.
Cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. She can be a tough grader, but she lets you correct your essays after you've turned them in to get a better grade. As long as you do your work and come to class on time she will do her best to help you. Very patient!
i never bought any of the books for this class, you do not need too. you will pass but her grading is ridiculous.
Amazing professor! If you do the journals which have no requirements except length and work hard on your essays this class is a breeze! She grades hard, but lets you edit them and turn them in again.
Ms. Wyngarden is the absolute best professor I have ever had. If you treasure a professor who actually cares about you (and actually remembers your name)over easiness, than you will love her! She is a genuinely nice, lovely person and has made me a better person just by having her. I would recommend her to anyone who cares about literature.
Kind and insightful. Loves literature and sees clearly how metaphor is part of our daily lives.
Good professor! If you do the journals which have no requirements except length and work hard on your major essays you'll do just fine. ONLY BIG DOWNER. Ridiculous grading for even for the most insignificant error you make counts against you. She simply grades hard at least lets you REVISE them and turn them in again. Don't need to buy books.
Inspiring teacher! I highly respect her, her love for literature, and encouragement of her students and their success. I highly recommend this class and her as a wonderful instructor.
Yes, she is SUCH a caring human being and will encourage everyone to reach their full potential. However, too much happy-go-lucky personality can be detrimental when a person wants to improve their writing skills and the feedback is ambiguous. If she was a counselor she'd be one of the one's who repeat "and how do you feel about that?..."
Professor Wyngarden was an awesome teacher. She really really REALLY cares about ALL of her students. She can be a little harsh when it comes to grading but lets you re-do your essays until they are perfect :) she rocks and you will learn lots from her!
Such an awesome person. She is very honest with her student's and expects the same in return. She takes NO excuses! You ARE required to buy a textbook, she's uses it all the time. Don't expect to be late because she doesn't accept late assignments. She's a little tough on grading but let's you re-do essays. Overall she's a great teacher.
What she teaches is not actually helpful for one to become a better writer. She will push you to buy the class book, but would barely use it. She rushes material (paper after paper),but then we would have 2 1/2 weeks at the end of the semester where we won't meet again. To make things worse, she won't let you improve your grade during that time.
Hey, dude! Did we take the same teacher? I was able to turn in my revision of my research paper this week, just 1 week before finals. What planet r you on? we used r book every weak. And we could revise r essays. No, to 2/12 weeks without classes. We meet this weak. I know how to write an essay, the whole thesis bit, inductive reasoning.
I LOVE her!! She is so caring and she has a deep passion for writing and literature. She wants her students to succeed and she is always willing to help. I agree that she is a hard grader, but she gives you as many chances as you want to revise your essays so it is easy to do well if you put in the work.
She's a very sweet woman with a passion for literature and teaching. She doesn't give a lot of negative feedback which can limit growth as a writer, but she's very willing to discuss in person and give more feedback there. She's a wonderful teacher to have.
Professor Wyngarden was one of the greatest professors I've had at GRCC. She's a great teacher and is a good critic for your writing. Also, make sure you keep up to date with the assignment sheet because it's really easy to accidently skip an assignment or two... Or three... Go into her class with a positive attitude and you should be alright!
Professor Wyngarden is such a nice, caring lady. She really cares about each and every one of her students and wants to see you succeed. She gives clear assignment sheets for a couple weeks ahead of time so you can schedule around assignments ahead of time. She also lets you revise your papers as much as you want until you get an A.
As someone who came into this class with a love of poetry, that love was certainly challenged after taking this course. I would not recommend taking this class. This professor assigns a lot of busy work and is very unclear in her grading. In talking with fellow classmates there was almost complete consensus in my class over this as well.
I really enjoyed EN 102 and the way Ms. Wyngarden taught. I definitely saw an improvement in my writing. This class has no exams, but expect lots and lots of papers. Journals are also very important and count towards 1/3 of your final grade. Attendance is important. Also, she gives you several tries to fix any of your papers which is VERY helpful.
You do a short story and a poem during the semester, but you receive no feedback from her. We never learned anything about writing. The entire course is reading other people's writing, instead of working on your own. It was a waste of time. It is much better to write on free time than to take this class. She often didn't know what she was saying.
Great prof. Taught me a lot about writing. She doesn't take any crap though. Don't try texting or talking during her class. She let's students do re-writes of all their major papers so there's no reason not to do well in the class. She's very open to being available to help, and seems to care about her students and their grades. Highly recommende
Ms. Wyngarden is one of my all time favorite teachers. Her class is engaging & inspirational. She clearly loves her job & does whatever she can to help students improve their skills. I really appreciate that she holds workshops because you get to read amazing work from fellow students & receive solid feedback on your own work. Highly recommended!
Shes very nice but shes super tough. Lots of papers, zero tolerance late policy no excuses. hardest teacher ive ever had but shes a very sweet person
She pays very close to attendance and will not let you slide on it even if you do have emergencies. Do your work and turn it in on time... late work is not accepted. Do this and you're sure to pass
Professor Wyngarden is one of the best professor at GRCC. I love her teaching style. She's a tough grader but she gives you an opportunity to get a better grade on every 4 major essays you do. If you show up and willing to learn and if you do your homework and your essays you will definitely pass the class with an A. Super easy class to get an A.
I took her EN102 class and it was easy. She hates when you have phones and will call you out so be careful texting under the desk. Also we read a lot in class out of our textbooks which made me fall asleep. Make sure to do all the journals bc that will get you. Papers she graded fair and put feedback.
I really liked this creative writing class, Prof Wyngarden gave great feedback on everyones work and the material was actually useful. At the end of the class i actually wanted to keep my textbook. One thing: she doesnt fool around about the attendance policy... if you show up late too many times or dont show up there are consequences.
I took Rebecca's class a while back and I must say she made me a better writer. I moved on to a 4 year university, and I still hold on to the notes and work I did in her class as inspiration. I'm going into the communications field where writing is taken very serious. Take her class, take good notes, and pay attention. It will pay off in the end
Professor Wyngarden is a super sweet and empathetic person. Creative Writing workshops spark profound conversations. A little scary to share your own work with strangers. Not a lot expected of you other than to show up all the time and complete all of your journals as well as one short story and one poem. No final exam. Easy A
Very nice as a person, a little difficult as a teacher. Tries to be nice but very strict. The hardest part is the assignments are very confusing jumping between two to three sheets for assignments, projects, and due dates. On a plus side she tells you exactly what is required on most assignments, and on projects. You need to bring your book. Hard.
She brought us cookies one day and sometimes the feedback from the class helped with the writing process, but she also had really cheesy activities such as telling us to shout out "I notice" statements (talk about an awkward silence followed by an unfortunate encounter with someone speaking over you).
The beginning through 3/4 of the semester, I loved her class. I was an A student. I missed ONE peer review (yes, I emailed her and told her before hand), I was then told I couldn't turn in my final paper, my grade dropped to a C-. She had no remorse. Typical busy work. Decent feedback and able to revise and resubmit your paper for a new grade.
I took EN 102 with her and it started off pretty good. When getting into assignments, we were assigned multiple short assignments that personally were pointless and didnt help me. She made us do the maximum course requirements with essay lengths and made us print every source no matter how many you had. She needed to focus on assignment at a time
Kim was by far one of my favorite professors. She can be a hard or tough grader at first but let's you revise your work to get a better grade until the next large paper is due. She's not very tech savvy so she hands you papers in class but she is very timely and efficient. She is extremely funny but also knows how important schoolwork is. Take her!
Professor Wyngarden is extremely caring. She's very passionate about writing. If you seek extra feedback on your writing outside of class, she'll give it to you; you just have to ask. She loves to see her students' writing thrive. Follow specific directions on writing assignments; overall the class is easy and you'll have lots of creative freedom.
Professor Wyngarden is a great teacher. Her lectures are very detailed and the class is extremely helpful in learning new writing techniques. Now, if you're looking for an easy class that won't require work, then don't take it. It's challenging and requires actual effort (surprising, I know). But if you are looking to write, it's great
She's a good professor, pretty boring class though. Make sure you do all of your assignments, she doesn't remind you when they're due and she doesn't take late work and I missed just one and it's the reason I got a B+ instead of an A. I did still kind of enjoy the class though and would recommend her since it is a pretty easy A if you do everything
She's not bad, it's just a boring class with a LOT of assignments back to back. She's unforgiving if you miss an assignment or miss a day when an assignment is due. Just make sure you show up to class and turn everything in and you'll do good. If you don't, good luck passing.
She's clear about what papers you're going to have to do and what they weigh in terms of your grade, so make sure to not forget them. I forgot one paper and it caused me to get an A- instead of an A. Make sure to get the poem and short story done ahead of time. You can tell that she is passionate about what she's teaching. Overall, it was alright.
She gives out many assignments at a time or back to back. She also does not give barely any class time to work on projects, if she does then she talks a lot and no work can actually be done. She is very positive and understanding. Gives good feedback and cares about every single student. She gets excited with participation and gets choked up.
no extra credit, so many useless papers, and sometimes rude to students. Ultimately, she tries to "leave an imprint" on her students, but it just is annoying and weird. I would recommend taking another professor for EN 102 because honestly she is annoying. Also, doesn't use blackboard for grading which is also annoying.
Professor Wyngarden expects if you take her creative writing class, you'll give creative writing your best effort; don't take it as a blow off class. You get lots of feedback from her, and she sets it up so you'll get a ton of feedback from classmates too. If you want to talk further about your writing outside of class, she will make time for you.
This is hands down the worse class Ive ever taken. She is a terrible teacher and treats everyone like a child. Knit picks every single assignment and just overall is a nice person but terrible English teacher. Should teach creative writing.
