Dr Hatton is one of the worst professor's I have ever had. She is highly unorganized, does not return exams/quizes within a reasonable amount of time, and she uses the instructor CD-ROM as a crutch while she "teaches". Avoid her if you can.
Extremely unorganized. She has this horrible laser pointer that she shakes around, and her voice is very shaky. When you turn things in, do not expect them back any time soon. So your grade is always very questionable.
can't stand her high pitch and shaky voice, very unorganized definitely. She just takes out materials straight out from the text book, and refers a lot to text book so it is hard to figure out which ones are important and essential:Avoid her at all cost:I gained migrain after taking her class..
Her class was SO hard, but not because of the material! She just cannot teach. She also speaks inaudibly.
Extremely nice and very helpful at office hours. Not that good at getting back reports, but go to her office and she can give you your estimated grade. Pretty easy and she explains procedures very well. Do your work and it is easy to get an A. I would definitely take her again!
I think she is a good professor. She is very approachable, and nice, she can just be a little unclear and disorganized sometimes. The material she is teaching is realtively complex, but I think she does a good job of teaching it in a manner that is for the most part understandable.
Very easy class! good teacher, very clear. Tests are really TOO easy...easy A if you're already a science major.
She SUCKS... She has an annoying voice, is not clear at all, doesn't answer questions the way you want them answered, her tests are difficult, and over all, I don't like her. I don't usually say that I HATE a class or a professor, but I hate her class and her...
Her voice is soo annoying. Her lectures make no sense, but mostly because I couldn't pay attention even if i tried. She gives pop quizes to make sure people go to class. I missed all of them. Other than the quizes, no need to go to class, tests based on book
She used the publisher's Powerpoints for the book, and just went straight through them, but without any indication of actually having READ the bloody book. Skipped relevant and important information that was in the CAPTION of the picture she was talking about. You have to read the book ahead of time to have a clue what she's talking about.
She is not that bad bu avoid taking her during summer and especialy if u really want to know orgnic chemistry dont take her.
I only had her for lab. Take her for lab she's really easy! I have an A in that class. she visually explains how to do the experiment so you won't get lost. very helpful and nice!
I liked her. She gave pretty detailed instructions/theory before the labs. Take good notes on these and you've got a good outline for the formal lab reports. She's great about giving extra help if you go talk to her/e-mail/call her. I thought this lab was really interesting. Fair amount of reading but straightforward and understanble.
Dr. Hatton is the worst professor, She knows nothing about organic chemistry, when you challenge her she gets argumentative and doesn’t actually know what she is talking about. She basically reads the book to you and doesn’t actually teach anything. Taking her class is like learning organic by looking at the pictures in the book. She knows nothi
Class was just challenging enough to be interesting and was presented well. When people comment try to concentrate on the class and not thier own shallowness (aka voice and thier lack not to do the work and blame it on her). If YOU do the work you will get an A. She lays it out in a logical manner and uses the book, so if you miss class can catch u
Prof Hatton is very fair and considerate. Let's face it, Organic is a tough subject. If your not willing to do the work (hours everyday during summer sessions) don't take the class. She is very thorough and presents the material well. There are plenty of students who blame her for their own lack of effort. Bottom line she is a good professor.
Her exams are ok if u study and do the readings. But the final was horrible, it had stuff that we didnt even talk about! Also, she teaches out the book, seems very disorganized. She does give old exams and study guides but u get them via email like 24 hours b4 the test! Also her class notes dont help only put u to sleep
terrible at answering questions... doesnt really explain anything well
Her lecture material is slides made by the company that makes the book (easy). However, she only seems to readily know the book material and gets confused if you attempt to venture outside of it's confines. Also, she treats you like whatever you just asked was the dumbest question ever (quiz average? *blink*, explain subject "x"? *stare*).
She was a pretty good teacher for the spring semester, but her tests were rather hard (partially because it's OChem). She gives some extra credit by having 10 of the 12 in-class quizzes count, and then has 4 multiple-choice exams (she dropped one because our class pushed a little).
She's energetic and very helpful professor. If you put some efforts on lab reports, she grades fairly.
she is the best chemistry professor espically in labs, as long you do your work and go to class you be fine. but make sure you talk to her if you have any problems and she will help you alot.
This was the most unprepared teacher I've ever had. She constantly showed up late for the class (she was always 15 mins late). She didn't have proper material for her lectures (she never had slides and never issued handouts). She would often forget about assignments that she had previously assigned (she always forgot about the quizes for the class
you dont need a book. I went through the entire semester without a book and i received an A for a final grade. she has an annoying voice.
her exams are soooo hard!! and she's very lazy! sometimes i feel like she doesnt even kno what she's talking about. honeychuck is much better!
She is SO easy! Her exam is much easier than Honeychuck. I compared the 2 exams from her and Honeychuck's and Honeychuck exam was much harder. Whoever said Honeychuck is easy don't know how easy Kimi's exam is! she even tells you what will be on the exam with HUGE BONUS that increase ur score and letter grade! Easy and Laid back! Two Thumbs UP!
hard exams
exams are so hard
very hard exams!!!seems like she does not even know what she's talking about!! AVOID
Her lectures are knida boring, straight from slides from the text book, but if u study well ul do well, especially since she curves
Awful teacher. Goes straight from the slides. Exams are hard, but multiple choice. You will need to teach yourself all the material. She is also very unhelpful. She does curve, however.
Rely on curves. Nice person, puts in some effort, when she shows up, as far as lab goes, you'll get your FLR at the end of the semester
I don't understand how she's even allowed to call herself a teacher, because teaching is the last thing she does, she reads word for word from her slides. the exams are extremely difficul and isn't exactly the nicest person. mind you, i'm not a slacker but this professor is completely impossible. mason really has no standards.
She sucks, she doesnt make any sense. Regreting taking her.
She is the worst teacher i have ever had. I thought this was her first year but when i found out it was not i was shocked!! her tests are borderline insane and she doesn't teach anything. you must learn on your own. Horrible teacher! avoid at all costs!!
if you can't get a decent grade in this class it's your own fault. a)because you have to teach yourself and b) because it's just not that hard. i only went to class 4 times (exam days), missed all the in class quizzes, missed two labs, and still got a B. and i'm a govt major. the first test is HARD, but don't give up, the last three are super easy.
Terrible, simply waste of money, time and effort.
Organic Chemistry is hard. With that said, so is Hatton, but not nearly as much as others I have heard of at Mason. Unfortunately, Mason's Orgo Prof. are not the best in the crop, so your best choice is with her, but be prepared to study hard, and sweat a lot.
Took class over summer, so no easy "name quizzes" as mentioned previously or extra credit. Would have been better if, for the reaction half of the course, she spent the time going over specific examples instead of reading right off the slides. Quizzes/tests same format. Very important to develop a study method or you'll flounder in this course.
She is awesome her tests are not hard compare to the rest of the professors She curves and gives eye candy preview (almost actual test) She is funny and helpful gives extra credit :) I'm taking her ORG 2 Take her if chemistry is not your thing! I worked during semester and didn't have much time to study but still got good grades on her tests ! ......
Dr Hatton is great teacher got A in both org(1,2) as well in her lab take her if you want to go to med school and chem is not your thing! The quizzes she gives randomly are just writing your name :) if you can't do that then you are hopeless :) this name quizzes are extra credit and suppose to rase your grade. her labs have no quizzes :) take her !....
Dr Hatton also gives so called "eye candy" (almost the same as the exam ) She gives those notes few days before the exam studying that+some problems will give you an easy A,,,,,,
Orgo itself is not that hard (or shouldn't be). It is a large volume of info, but if taught right it should be pretty straightforward. hatton gives misinformation often and reads right off the slides. no examples are given. be prepared to haul ass. work ALL the practice problems.
I thought she was a great teacher and shes really nice. the material is hard, shes not. she gives you previous exams to study off of, and a study guide. highly recommended
Better of the two crappy teachers. She will give study guide before the test but it isn't representative of the AT All. O and she is extremely lazy. I recommend her only because I have heard worse about Honeychuck. Also, her tests are harder than his but they are more frequent so it is less content.
i dont even know where she gets her study guide from because they are impossible!!!!!!!! and she has hard time trying to explain them so it's no help.... and she reads DIRECTLY OFF the slides so it's THE EXACT SAME THING as reading the book by yourself, only ull understand it better when u study for it. wish she teaches!!! so ppl can understand che
Prof. Hatton is NOT a good teacher. In class she reads DIRECTLY off the slides and doesn't explain the material. The book does a better job of explaining. She refuses to answer questions if you go to her office but doesn't have office hours. She knows her stuff but she is lazy and and doesn't explain anything. She def likes boys more than girls.
Like other users have said, she reads directly off the slides. Going to class can still be helpful though bc of occasional in-class extra credit, plus she will sometimes give hints about the exams. She means well with her practice exams but they are NOT very helpful - they are from her summer sessions where both the class and tests are much easier!
The Orgo department at Mason is a joke. No learning is done here, when class averages are mid to low 40s. Unfortunately, this is the lesser of two evils, so recommended to take her, but certainly no where near helpful. Classes consist of slide reading and unanswered questions. Study guides are not explained nor answers given to them.
People who think they do not have to go to class will do horrible in this class. She is great at explaining the information and is available if you have any questions. She is gives out practice exams before every test but the final which are extremely helpful to understand the questions she is going to ask. Extra credit quizzes. AWESOME TEACHER
She reads from slides; can't answer questions that students ask; terrible exams that are a** backwards; like everyone else said, just a joke. I wonder how she got a teaching degree, seriously. Best bet is to reada the book on your own if you go to class b/c you'll learn more. Can't describe her own slides b/c she didn't make them.
Definite improvement from last semester. She has a lot more examples outside of the slide, she has only canceled class once (by sending an email 5 mins into class) and the study guides are more helpful. I definitely recommend her this semester.
Not an EASY class but DEFINITELY doable and you can get an A if u study right. When I say study right I mean READ THE CHAPTERS and be interested and do the end of the chapter problems. Do her practice exams too. Once you get the concept and kno where all the action is taking place, the whole test is nothing different. You will do fine guaranteed.
She has changed a lot when she taught this semester. She gave extra problem and explained the materials clearly. Her exams were not easy but not impossible. Study the sildes, read the Kline book, practice the sample problem and you will do fine.
Definitely not an easy class, you really have to come to class if you want to get a decent grade. She will answer questions after class if you ask and she will help you out! She did read off the slides most of the time, but she also provided sample problems and tests. Do every problem at the end of each chapter, and you'll get an A easily. READ!!!!
If you don't want to study don't take this class. You need to do problems every day, and read the material and UNDERSTAND IT DONT MEMORIZE IT. The exams are based on application of the lecture theory, so you have to know exactly what is going on. If you study you will get a good grade. Don't expect to skip class and get an A.
I like her, she is a very nice person. Her class is wonderful, but the material is difficult. She provides practice exams, but in order to get that A, you must go to every class and take detailed notes. Work every problem in the back of the chapter, there are no exceptions to this.
worst teacher ever. i read the book everyday. attend class everyday but nothing helps. her sample questions don't help because on the test it's 10 times harder than the sample questions.
Had Hatton for OChem I Lab. WORST TEACHER EVER. She lost 2 of my labs and gave me a C because of it. She's forgetful, always late, and unclear about expectations and assignements. AVOID!!!!
she does not teach at all. She reads her slides. Her exams are difficult nothing like her sample questions. When I went to ask her an question in her office she told me to come back because her office hours were ending in 5 minutes. She takes attendance randomly, if you are 1 min late, you are marked as absent. She uses those attendance points.
She reads off her slides, explains if you really ask her.Exams are tough but then again it's a 300 level college class, shoudln't expect anything less. It's not impossible to get an A,all need to do is attend classes(takes attendance randomly)and study hard.she curves alot which helps.Best advice:do NOT leave studying till last minute.
She reads off her slides, explains if you really ask her.Exams are tough but then again it's a 300 level college class, shoudln't expect anything less. It's not impossible to get an A,all need to do is attend classes(takes attendance randomly)and study hard.she curves alot which helps.do NOT leave studying till last minute, not with this class!
one lousy teacher! reads off slides. she does curve. but if your not above average- it does not help you. her final is a little easier than honeychuck. studying everyday does not help either. hard to ask her a question- i don't understand her.
Dr. Hatton is probably the best organic prof at Mason. She makes sure to go over all of the material the day before the test and she gives a ton of examples. Take her over Slayden or Honeychuck any day.
She is a terrible professor and just reads straight off the slides. Take anyone but her.
BORING! She won't teach you anything that you can't learn from reading the slides/textbook on your own. She is very vague when answering questions, and hardly ever does practice problems. Tests are difficult, class average is usually below 60%, but she curves, which is the only positive aspect of this class.
If you fail a class that has a 30 point curve, I wouldn't want you as my doctor. I got an A because I studied for probably hundreds of hours. That's the price of an A, and not everyone is willing to pay it. Make sure you can do all the problems at the back of the chapter (*not* the Challenge Problems) and you will be fine. It takes time.
Hatton is horrible. She is always late, she's rude to students (yelled at 1 for yawning!), and she sends out the exam review 2 days before the exam. Her final covered material we were never taught, and she is HIGHLY DISORGANIZED. AVOID.
Final grades are due to the registrar 48 hours after the final exam, NOT A WEEK AND A HALF LATER. How long does it take to grade a scantron??
She made Organic Chemistry intro bearable and interesting. She was available during office hours and I was able to ask her questions about the online hw and how to prepare for exams.Very patient to show us how to set up the models. I've heard horror stories about other orgo teachers so I'm glad I chose her class. She has a great sense of humor!
I am writing this as I am web dropping her course. Class started from 75 people, 20 people dropped out in first 2 weeks, another 20 next 2 weeks, about 38 people left in class. about 20 people never show up in class. Some people are never meant to teach. Avoid this woman at all cost. Drop it like its hot.
Avoid her like the plague. She has no clue what she is doing, and you will not learn anything from her class. She's annoying, and if you try to get help outside of class, she will be rude, will not accommodate you, and after all that, she won't be helpful at all. Either make friends with the front row kids, or find a new teacher.
her lab final was hard.... on the other hand, we only had 2 or 3 quizzes all semester long and she is not a hard grader. If you want to get good grade then take her, but dont expect to learn anything bc she doesnt know anything herself
Her introductory chemistry class was the best chemistry class I have ever taken at GMU. I actually learned how to name organic compounds because of her
Having completed 160 college credits to date, I can say unequivocally that this is the worst professor I've ever had. She is incredibly lazy, relying on publisher slides, outsourced homework, and TAs to complete her course. She just seems tired of teaching this uninspired class.
She is extremely lazy! grades exams late and just reads off the power point in her lecture! SHe is unhelpful and very rude! Do NOT take this professor!
Dr. Hatton gets a lot of bad reviews because she teaches a difficult class. Study a lot and you will be fine. Hatton realizes that orgo can be a whole new way of thinking for some people and it takes a while to "get" it. If you have trouble, talk to her. She is the most understanding and patient professor I have had at Mason. Loved her!
reads of the slide word by word, hard to see her during office hours, but the class is EASY compared to other organic class, read the book, practice the problems, talk to her after class, you get what you put into the class. Just get a few points above the class average which is in the 40s and you can get an A.if you fail this class blame ur self!!
Dr. Hatton uses outsourced (and unhelpful) homework, reads verbatim off PowerPoint slides, and rarely draws out structures or shows organic compound models - something that should be a staple in every class. Only motivation to go to class are iClicker quizzes. Not to mention she's often late and sounds bothered when you ask her questions. LAZY!
Horrible teacher! If you could call her that! The most she did was offer advice on what tutor to get. Book is little help with her class but it's the only life raft since her class is reading from slides and she doesn't answer your questions.
Hatton is as easy as its going to get for Organic Chemistry. I received an A+ in the class because of her extremely generous test curve. Be prepared to study a ton though because that is the only way to score well in organic no matter who is teaching it.
I hated this class. She's very unorganized and unreliable. If you really want to learn something, avoid this class. She's a nice person, not a good teacher.
I had her for 2 semesters- worst idea EVER. She fails to explain anything and there are things on the exam you'll have never seen before. The way she curves is great if you can above the class average. She doesn't let you talk even if it's a 300+ lecture, she'll call you out for asking a question. Do not take her if you wish to keep a good GPA.
hate that professor. i will not suggest this professor to anyone. it was my worse experience i ever had. for her this class is not so easy, even she make this class more hard for you.
I took her for the online chem 313 class. Everything students said below is true. But this is orgo, so you HAVE TO PUT IN THE TIME AND EFFORT. Read Solomons and Klein and aim to get above the curve for each test and you'll do fine. You will fail the tests, but everyone will. Each test will get easier if you put in the time.
I took her lab and she was a super easy grader so I decided to take her online course and she's super amazing. The tests are written so you get partial credit (as opposed to multiple choice where you get no credit). She tries really hard to help her students and I recommend taking Orgo with her.
Anyone that says she is a bad obviously didn't take Pant or Slayden before this class. She's seriously as good as its going to get. I averaged much higher on her tests and had an overall better understanding of the material. I'm in her online class and love it. Also her lab is super easy, got an A+ in it. She honestly does care about her students.
Okay people I'll tell you the truth. This class is crazy hard. I'm not a chem person either. If you take her online class and apply yourself, meaning lose your Friday nights because you have exams and go to online and FTF meetings you'll do pretty well. Take notes when listening to powerpoints too.
I dropped this class. SHE IS NOT helpful. The class is also extremely difficult and she makes it even harder. Her voice is so annoying its hard to focus and listen and she is no help whatsoever. Also does not grade work in a timely manner. DO NOT take her class.
Make sure you do the blog and go to class for the iclicker points - I got an A on both exams, a B on the final, and a B in lab but somehow ended up with a B-. Her class is a joke but I don't think anyone else teaches it.
You can study for the class, it isn't difficult. But "ungoranzied" is really the correct spelling for the class description. FYI, the COURSE BLOG is weighted 1% less than the final exam. Bi-weekly comments make up 90% of the blog grade (vs. the entry). WISH I KNEW. YOUR WELCOME.
Took her lab over the summer and it was fun. Her quizzes were not hard and she told us the answers beforehand. As long as you pay attention to her lectures you'll be fine. The lab reports were also clear cut. Only wrote one or two paragraphs for each conclusion. Shes is kind of unclear if you ask her a complicated question but she's nice. 10/10.
I adore Dr. Hatton! Took online class with her. She's very nice and curves heavily. Orgo is hard, but apply yourself, do the homework, go to the meetings, study hard and get above the average in the exams.
Hatton got better than before, she doesn't read from the powerpoints anymore and instead wrote most of her class notes out. She tested on mechanics thought so watch out for that. You have to study hard to get an A in her class, but she still curves the average to a C. Her tests are not multiple choice like before.
Shes a great teacher! if you don't study you wont do well in orgo. shes is definitely the nicest orgo teacher available, even tho her class is online it is still a great class. you can always talk to her about anything you have questions about. Make sure you do all the problems at the end of each chapter thats assigned for the test (same stuff)
She is really good and really nice and gives partial credit for exams since it isn't multiple choice! Do the hw and write as much as you can on exams and you are guaranteed a B- at least
MANDATORY face to face meetings and online meetings EACH WEEK. Tests are mostly free response with some multiple choice ( cannot guess your way through). Spends 2-3 weeks grading tests. Homework is pretty awful and access code is hella expensive. Provides a lot of help though with tutors (Radleigh is the best) but it is a tough subject to learn.
Most unorganized course I've taken, I'm about to take midterm 4 and am 2 weeks from the final and I have only received midterm 1 back. I have no idea how I did on midterm 2 or 3 so I have no clue what my current grade is going into the final. She's very difficult to set up meetings outside of office hours because she bad at mailing back.
We take our final in one week, yet we have only received 1 out of the 4 exams we have taken back. So we have no idea how we're doing in this class. Her office is a disgusting mess, indicating she may not even have a clue as to where our exams are. She also spent the last 5 days emailing us with bribes to give her good course evaluations.
Honestly she's a nice lady, but a horrible teacher. There's five exams in this class, including the final, its the end of the semester and we have only received ONE test grade back. No one has a clue as to what grade they have in her class, she has lost exams and meeting up with her is impossible because she hardly ever emails back.
She's only given back one test grade from this entire semester. I'm very unprepared for the final that is in less than a week. Organic chem isn't an easy subject and its very stressful to go through the entire semester without knowing what your grade is. She's extremely disorganized and gives no extra credit, which she should.
Mandatory weekly attendance sessions and homework, both of which grades won't be given back till the END OF THE SEMESTER. I'm a senior and haven't had a worse professor at mason. She didn't even curve our class grade because she got in trouble for BRIBING us to give her good reviews since she only received bad ones. She deserves to be fired.
I love Dr. Hatton !!! She was always very helpful. This is organic chemistry, so come in and STUDY like crazy. Give up your weekends and focus on her lectures, do many practice problems, and study concepts (see her for help), she clarifies and takes her time with you if you see her one on one!! Work hard. Believe. And you will succeed!!
ACS final. 4 Exams, mix of multiple choice and short answer. Drops lowest score, and adds extra points if more than 80% of the class does course evaluations. Really unorganized, but your best chance of an A or B is with her cause hw and mandatory face to face and online sessions every week factor into your grade instead of just 4 exams.
There are four tests lowest gets dropped. Grade is not only based on exams which all the other Orgo professors are strict about. She offers points for participation and homework and extra participation points to put on your lowest exam. She is willing to help if you show that you are trying and see her during her office hours. U get what u put in.
OMG!!!! IF YOU EVER HAVE TO TAKE A LAB PROFESSOR FOR ORGO, HANDS DOWN TAKE HER! SHE IS SO CHILL. LITERALLY!!! SAVE YOUR GRADE AND LESS PANIC! HER LABS ARE NOT THE TYPE WHERE YOU CANNOT TALK OR ASK SILLY QUESTIONS. SHE WILL HELP YOU AND ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS. SERIOUSLY!! TAKE HER! SHE IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!
By far the easiest lab I have ever taken when it comes to chemistry. Never got below a B on the lab reports. If you want one less class to stress over, take lab with Hatton. She takes a while to grade the labs, but you'll be pleased with your grade. I had an A throughout the semester, but the lab final brought me to a B. She refers to Pavia.
Dr. Hatton's reviews are not a good representation of her I don't think! She was very accessible outside of class and she is nice and super approachable. Gives out practice tests to help prepare you for her tests which are really hard. Averages on tests are Fs, but she curves everything to a C.
Lectures by sitting at her computer and reading off the slides. Tests are easy of you study and read the textbook. Sometimes she gives out practice problems from the textbook.
Does not give an adequate amount of effort to teaching the class. Her lectures consist of her almost exclusively reading off ppt slides in her monotone voice (which I find horribly demotivating). Occasional homework assignments are improvised at the last minute. Avoid her, or avoid Chem overall (whole department has poor reputation).
Shes nice but cancelled class a few times but its ok. Not a lot of work and only a few tests but she does try to give people a chance to put more into their grade besides tests. Class is easy for the most part just read and do practice problems.
Unlike other orgo profs, participation for weekly meetings & hw make up 20% of your grade, so it'll def help boost your grade. There are 4 midterms and a final. Drops the lowest midterm and sets the class average to C. Posts multiple practice exams from past semesters for each exam which are really helpful. She's prob your best bet for passing orgo
The only grades were 3 exams which contained material not discussed in class or in the readings. Average class grade for exam 1 was 58%. Did one group presentation but wasnt graded because very few people did it or even showed up for class after 1st exam. She said theres a curve for the exams but no change was put into the gradebook so far
She's your best bet to pass this class. 4 exams and an ACS Final. Drops lowest exam grade and gives points on your lowest exam grade if majority of the class does the online survey! Weekly attendance is 15% of your grade, DO NOT MISS THAT!! HW is worth 5% of your grade, code is a little pricey. CURVED A LOT at the end of the semester. She cares.
There are 4 tests (One lowest dropped), ACS final. Participation grade is 15%, so make sure you attend one online session every week. Homework is 5% and make sure you do them because they will help you prepare for exams. Organic chemistry is a really hard course, tests are really difficult. She does curve.
Dr. Hatton is not a really good professor. Her teaching is mediocre and it's online, but her tests are extremely difficult. I reviewed throughly until I fully understood all concepts and did all homework, but exams have difficult questions that will trick you in every way. The only things that have saved me were homework and participation grade.
She's good at explaining the procedure and goes into detail about the report, which is nice. But we've only received 1 report back, so I have no idea where my grade lies. In lab, I've asked her several times to come help me and she refuses, telling me to ask a friend because she doesn't want to get up. She's nice but I am extremely frustrated.
Doesn't explain well and extremely difficult exams. Horrible professor.
She reviews the procedure and explains the things that you need to do for the labs such as any calculations, which is nice. But she's horrible at grading papers and takes forever to get them back to you, so don't count on getting one back every week. Take her if you have no other choice but I wouldn't recommend her to be your first choice.
She's really hard person to set up an appointment. I once asked her when she has office hours and she said she does, but when I went there when she was there, she said she had too much work and couldn't help me. There's no excuse for such things because she should told students that she would not have office hours if she's not available for help.
Her exams are very difficult. They are much harder than example problems and homework. A is not guaranteed in her class.
She likes to solely read off her slides and not really look up to see if you have a question. IF you take her course then you should only show up half the time and just study her old exams and hope they're similar to the new ones because she puts things on the exam she never goes over in class.
Dr. Hatton is great. Her exams are a difficult but there is a curve. She does care about her students & wants to help. This is not an easy class so it does require work. I took her for lab and lecture and was putting in a studying average of 20hr/week for both lab and lecture outside of class time. She does take a long time to grade things
The single worst professor or teacher I have ever had in my life. Reads directly off slides, incoherently rambles when not reading directly off the slides, does not teach the arithmetic required for the tests, cannot answer questions asked in class. I am honestly not convinced she acquired a chemistry degree prior to teaching this course.
Didn't learn much from her
