Great professor! Really wants her students to succeed if they work hard.
Excellent teacher
really good, really helpful, really enthusiastic...but really hard.
Super sweet with LOTS of extra credit opps.
Very interesting class...if you can keep up its easy
Late a lot to class. Has a lot of energy. Too much extra busy work. Don't take it with a full load of courses.
She rocks...
excellent
Kind of hard, but fair. VERY VERY interested in subjects, helpful to students and student groups.
AWESOME CLASS! King gives a knowledgable perspective. Just come to lecture and read the daily NYT article(or all 3 before the quiz). The rest is in how hard you study for tests;they're hard & cover lecture hilights "I care you know"SEE THE SI(supp. instuctor)-Learning Center has great study guides
If you want to go to law school, you must take as many of her classes as possible. Tough, but worth it. Great prof.
i love her, can't say enough good things about here.....do your homework and go to class...she's awesome
THIS TEACHER ROCKS!!!
THIS TEACHER ROCKS!!!
She's a badass. It's work, but she makes it worth it and she doesn't waste your time. She's great.
STUPID--- rambled on and did not make anything clear or understandable. NY Times quizzes... yup, failed everyone of them... and the tests too. I am a very smart kid and I HATED this class and how she taught it. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
She is tough and reminds me of an army sargent. however she seems very interested in the subject. Lots of work
awesome experiene, awesome teacher, not biased, thought provoking.
****ing awful class.
lots of busy work. she expects this to be the only class you take all semester
by far the best PoliSci teacher ive ever had.
Criminal procedure is an *extremely* difficult class. She'll load you down with a ton of work, it will be by far your most work-heavy class. That said, the class is atleast interesting and she's very helpful and willing to work with students.
Great Professor, expect to study. She takes her class very seriously and expects students to work to attain decent grades. NY times quizes kind of suck, and her notes on the web serve as the real text book. Take her if you can; be warned, she teaches at the college level!
I am a Political Science major, took the second Poli Sci with King and have been recommending her Government 1 and 2 class to everyone I meet. She is one of the top professors at North Texas for sure. Her classes fill up quick.
I love her class!! She's witty and knows what she is talking about. Her notes are posted on WebCT and they are very detailed (don't even need the book to make A's) She always gets test/quiz grades back next class. If you study you can make an A. :)
Probably the best professor I've had so far. Interesting to be sure. You will definently not fall asleep in this class. She is great and knows what she's talking about. Also listens to imput and opinions from students on topics and is able to be an equal political party basher.
I loved her. I had an 8 am class and she kept me awake every class. She is also good about realizing if the class is retaining the information or not and can tell if she needs to just stop and let the class go. I highly recommend taking ANY of her classes. Its worth the work, and there isnt much work in it.
She is a great teacher! Her notes are helpful as well, and she's never boring. I have her 8 am class and she always manages to wake us up. As long as you read the textbook and look over the key points in the notes you'll do just fine.
I took professor King for both sections of PSCI and I'd take her for every class I have if I could get away with it. Her ability to not only push you, but do it in a way that gets the best out of you in a natural way actually had me contemplating a PSCI major for a while. She's also always available to talk to you if you need anything.
This class is really hard and there's a lot of work. You have to get a subscription to the NYTIMES and they only send them to certain zip codes so most likely you will have to pick it up from UNT everyday, you also have work due every friday and her notes are all abrieviated so you have to decrypt them everyday. These other comments are wrong.
Attendance is mandatory ALL semester. Her notes are messy and unclear to read. She treats the class like it's the student's ONLY priority. It's a high stress class.
she is awesome.
She is an amazing teacher. Before I took her class I hated politics, after I was ready to run for President! She is friendly, fun, understanding and not too difficult. She does require some studying and a New York Times subscription, but I just went online and found the articles for free without any problem. She gives TONS of extra credit.
Dr. King is a great teacher, I had her for Constitutional Law. If you are thinking about going to law school, her class will give you a very nice preview of what to expect. Was the hardest class that I took as an undergrad but the one that had the most impact.
TAKE HER TAKE HER TAKE HER! Best teacher I have ever had. Passionate, interesting, funny, gives LOADS of extra credit. Incredible. LOVE HER!!
SHE IS THE MOST AMAZING WOMEN IN THE WORLD!!!!!! If you are going to UNT, you must take her. I CARE YOU KNOW I LOVE KIMI KING !!!!
Dr. King keeps you interested but in order to get an A in this class you need to read the following: New york times, Her notes, The book, Work book pages, and Internet readings. For people who have trouble focusing on the imortant stuff from numorus sources, this class may be rather tuff to get an A in. So GOOD LUCK!
She is very knowledgeable and passionate about her subject, but you have to be to make an A in the class. She requires you to read the NYTimes about everyday (there are quizzes) and her tests consist of NYTimes, book, workbook, notes, and internet reading material. The lectures can be interesting but frankly "care you know!" got pretty annoying.
DO WHAT SHE SAYS AND YOU WILL MAKE THE GRADE YOU DESERVE!!! Lot's of work, but definetly worth it. Kimi is GREAT!
Dr.King is a great teacher who has a passion for her subject. She treats her students like adults, and she expects respect from them in return. You have to earn your grade, but it isn't impossible by any stretch of the imagination. You will learn a lot by taking her class.
its not even worth it to do the extra credits
Took con. law and crim. pro. Kimi is tough and her classes are demanding but will be the best investment you ever make if you plan on going to law school. Do whatever it takes to make sure she is your advisor when it comes time to submit law school apps.
a bit much for 8am. manditory attendence is always a stupid idea. i dont care for the subject, but she makes it tolerable.
Jesus Christ. There are no words for the kind of Nazi hell you've subjected yourself to if you signed up for this class.
First week of class she decalres herself a Nazi. Kinda scares you at first, but she really isn't THAT bad. She expects you to take the class seriously. Attend every class. The NYT quizes suck, but the regular test aren't that bad. If there are review sessions go! Those help so much. She really knows makes the class interesting. She gives so much ex
Dr. King makes a fetish of constitutional law. She's one of the greats at it. She talks fast, loves the history of it, and cites cases off her head like a law school professor. But she's fascinating. 4210 and 4220 are superb pre-law courses. You WILL learn to brief cases.
I love Dr. King! She was not easy by any means, but she kept the class fun and interesting. She is the reason why I am actually into politics now. I would strongly suggest her. You will work, but you will learn so much!
Great prof. She really knows what she is teaching and talking about.. day in and day out. Mandatory attendance blows.. esp with an 8am class. It's definitely engaging... and you will get plenty of use out of your books.. but beware of her TAs. If you get a bad one (like I did).. good luck getting any issues with grades, etc. tended to promptly.
She will make you love politics... I have a slight suspicion that it is her fetish. I CARE YOU KNOW!!
Wow. Look at the whiny comments like on 1/17/07. Dr. King is a task-master. No doubt about it. She expects you to know the US Constitution, forwards and backwards. Do NOT get behind in your briefs. Take excellent notes. Take. Her. Class. Incredible.
She is a great teacher who really keeps your attention in class and gives tons of chances for extra credit!
Dr. King is amazing! she definatly kept me awake and entertained at 8 am and she really knows what she is taking about! she lives and brathes this stuff. and she also gives TONS of chances for extra credit! but be ready to work hard and study! NYT quizzes can be a killer.
I CARE YOU KNOW!! I'm no polisci major and I hate political science. Ms. King is a total coot. She expects this class to be the only one you take but gives you plenty of extra credit opportunities. I don't like gov't but she makes me pay a little attention at least. Go to class, take notes, do the work. I'm passing so far so I'm greatful
Dr. King is highly annoying, especially at 8 in the morning. The "i care you know"'s are basically useless because she says this about everything. She makes everything much more complicated than it needs to be. The only good thing is the exam's are fairly easy. NYT quizzes are ridiculous. out of thirty articles there are ten questions.
She is incredible at creating an interest in things you didn't think you cared about.
She's a really good professor, she just never gets through all the notes and skims over a lot so it's helpful to read everything she tells you to (which is a LOT). Pay attention to "I Care You Know's" and read the NY times and you should be fine!
Entralling. She actually has me interested in poliSci minor for journalism. Best teacher ever, I encourage everyone to take her. I am enduring an 8am class next semester just for her. She brings politics down to earth and makes them interesting. Just stay on top of your work, and an A shouldn't be hard to pull at all.
total crack up! she keeps the class interesting and the tests are reasonable for sure! she brings a lot to a class just make sure you read, attend class and read NYT! and care you knows! King is a very educated women who isnt afraid to let you know or admit when shes wrong. great professor
Dr. King makes an 8 am class completely worth getting up for! she is incredibly smart and wants her students to understand and succeed! if you want an easy class, take her! the NYT will take some time, but will also help bring your grade up. also gives away extra credit like candy on halloween.
if you take PSCI 1050 or 1040 from her, DONT BUY THE BOOKS; get them on reserve. this is my favorite teacher at UNT. her classes are hard but engaging- if you do even half of the extra credit, attend class and brief the (excellent) notes before exams you'll make an easy A in the course. "it's all good, write 'im a note."
Brilliant woman. Knows her political science. This class in not easy for a 1000 level class. Lots of reading and daily New York Times requirements. Good class though. Tests weigh heavily in the class and require a good amount of prep time.
Dr. King is hands down one of the best instructors teaching at UNT. Her class is by far the most demanding I have ever taken at UNT, but I loved every minute. If you fear work, this is not the class for you. If you are interested in law, it is a MUST. You learn lots of things that will prepare you for 1L.
Awesome Teacher! Highlty recomend if you are willing to try. Not a blow of though. But the class is fun and intresting. And Kimi rocks even though it is 8 in the morning
Dr. King is a great professor. She really knows her stuff and tries to impart that knowledge to her students. If you want a blow off course or an easy A, run the other way because this is not it. The course is rigorous but you will leave with a wealth of knowledge useful in today's litigious world. Also her TA, Rosa, is very helpful as well.
Overall I really enjoyed her class. Although it was very demanding compared to my friends who had other professors, I feel like I learned a lot. She gives a ton of extra credit and all the points you earn get added to your final exam grade. If you take this class be prepared to have a heavy workload.
Great teacher, not preferred by very many, the tests were easy if you study go to the SI sessions they are helpful and you get a review for tests if attended regularly. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT it helps so much,it's a pain but worth it. This class wasn't hard if you pay attention. She isn't for everyone,if you don't like outspoken and abnoxious stay away
I really liked her as a person, but I just hated this class. I very much appreciated the fact that she didn't force her views down my throat and she never let us know whether she was republican or democrat. But if you take her class, be prepared to do more work than you've ever been used to.
I really liked her as a person, but as a professor... no way. She was really energetic and tried to get every one awake at 8:00AM. However, the tests are hard, I hate reading the New York Times every day, and the extra credit (though worth it) is a real pain. She posts her lecture notes and the recording on the internet, so that's helpful.
I took her for PSCI 1040 and 1050. She is very predictable. Class is not mandatory, lectures on line. Tests are easy right out of notes....only down side is NY Times articles to read MON-FRI. Easy easy easy tho
A teacher whose homework, although somewhat tedious, is very easy to complete. Her message is clear in lectures, and the topics are both up-to-date and interesting. I thought her remarkable for her lecture performance, and was kept awake even in her 8am class.
the tests were hard, the lecture notes were confusing. Bt she does tell you "care you know" on what will be on the exams. She gives alot of extra credit that gave me a B instead of a C. You have to read the NY times M-F and that was tedious.
I took crim pro and const. rts. When she says she's teaching like this is a law school class she isn't kidding. If you have plans to go to law school keep your notes and books. I'm a 2L and Dr. King's notes and classes have gotten me through crim pro and con law and helped out in other classes. I learned more from her than I did in law school.
she's great, the test are a little hard but if you read the book like she tells you it will really help out. i like that for what was an 8am class she kept me awake so that was good and the ppts. i didn't like the clickers to much or the nytimes reading everyday but then again for the nytimes is good to keep up
there is so much unecessary stuff going on in this class. you are expected to read ny times everyday, a $45 clicker to take surveys which half the time doesnt work, 2 books 1 of which is $100. when i told my roommate this he laughed and said his gov teacher doesnt require anything but the main book. bottom line: avoid this kimi king.
The classes it's self was alot of work. I felt as if it was a 5 hour class insted of a 3 hour. She was nice though loud and lively! I made a C in the class but I didnt do all the extra credit assignments so make sure you do those!
This class required a lot of work for a core class. She was fun and lively, which kept class interesting. There are extra credit chances, but thet require a good amount of effort.
very nice teacher really enjoyed the class
Go to class and do all of the assignments. The last part is what got me. Oh, and its very intense for an 8 am class. But she makes it bareable.
Not a hard class. Just a lot of reading. You have notes, NY times articles (do not pay for subscription, you'll get by just fine by reading the articles online), Workbook, Textbook. If she says "I CARE YOU KNOW", mark that in your notes. Also, if offered, go back and listen to her past lectures before the test. She also provides lots of xtra credit
Amazing professor! Don't take any of Dr K's classes if you are looking for a "blow-off" class. She will really take you to the next level of your academic career! Shes truly inspirational. By far the best professor I have ever had.
Lots of notes and lots to study but she mixes redbull and coffee before she comes to class at 8am. So if you don't like a loud screaming political science teacher at 8am look elsewhere. Also her NextGen class she abuses the half online half offline guidelines. Lots of homework in this class.
She gives so much work but it really helps boost your grade in the end. She also gives so many extra credit opportunities. The tests are really hard and major studying is required, but overall a pretty decent teacher.
She's hard but so wonderful! As long as you keep up with the reading you'll be fine!
Stay awaaaaayyyy. All right, I'm a good student and attend class most of the time, but I think I went to her class about 5 times total because she was so annoying. And I still made an A. Without even doing the projects.
I like her as a teacher, but you really don't get one on one talk with her because our class is the biggest one 540 students but she awesome. The only thing that gets annoying is that she repeats "I care you know" every other second.
She is very easy to pay attention to, because she's energetic. This class is VERY tech-savvy... we use clickers to take polls/attendance, and we have a lot of assignments on Blackboard. We have NYTimes quizzes 2x/mo. The tests are hard, but there are review sessions, as well as TONS of extra credit. It's definitely a challenge, but a great course.
Dr. King is a well-known and well respected professor of Political Science. I am an average-smart student and i didn't find her workload heavy AT ALL, I found it to be slightly less than my other classes. I STRONGLY recommend taking the NextGen class, when registering it will say "blended course," this is NextGen, which means online content.
This class requires a lot of dedication and you have to study hard for the tests. However, she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and a few of the grades are easy 100s. You HAVE to buy the clicker because she uses it for attendance. She's pretty helpful and seems like a nice person.
Kimi King is one of the most annoying people I have ever experienced. I would recommend the class because it is mostly busy work that will boost your grade. Just bring your computer to class so you can be counted present and then ignore her and take notes from the powerpoints online later.
I've taken her twice now, both upper level classes, and the second time because I loved her so much the first time. This is the first time I've ever cared, understood, and like political science (very much not my major). She is a goddess! Easily the BEST professor at UNT!!!!!!!!!
Passion gets used too much these days, but this lady truly has a passion for what she does, she cares, and is willing to help out with any situation. You should take her for any class that you have at UNT. She is what teaching is all about. She should be a role model for the rest of the UNT teaching staff. Hats off for a great job Dr. King!
This class can be a bit intense but if you work hard and stay on top of everything you can get a good grade. She offers at least 3 different extra credit opportunities every class. Her tests can be a little hard but you just have to start preparing for them early and not the night before.
Love Kimi King! She has alot of humor via sarcasm. So much extra credit to help boost grades, her class is a nextgen course, therefor you must attened and use the clicker (EASY) and stay very active on blackboard for emails and updates. Projects are easy. Her TA'S rock and are very funny as well.
I took the nextgen course and hated it. Sure, there is a lot of busy work and extra credit to help booth grades but the tests were ridiculous and Dr. King is hard to contact. Any time you send her an email with a question her response is either "Look at the syllabus" or "talk to your TA"
She's a wonderful teacher and seems like a generally nice person! She's funny, always commands attention and knows what she's talking about. Anyone who chooses not to take Dr. King and her nextgen class has lost their mind!
This class is very intersting. The TAs are not helpful at all. The test is diffcult but there are tons of extra credit and work to boost your grade high.
Pay attention and do ALL of the extra credit opportunities!
The course was introduced as a NextGen course. It took awhile to adjust to but as soon as you do it isn't bad at all. The tests are hard but she offers plenty of extra credit!
Didn't know what she was talking about, and the next gen blows. I'd avoid this class.
The nextgen aspect takes a little getting used to, but once you do it's easy to keep up with. She is funny and sarcastic, which makes class fun to go to. I'd take her class again.
Took the NexGen Course, and Dr. King is witty, intelligent, but a bit of a rightwinger, plays way too many Fox news clips -Easy A
King. is. awesome. I withdrew last semseter and re-took her for this one. This class is nextgen so it takes some getting used to but it's pretty easy and straight forward. crap ton of Extra cerdit. Super nice. TAs aren't all that helpful, but Kimi is extremely warm and helpful. ALSO she happens to be hilarious.
Loved her class!
Dude. King is so awesome! Funny, witty and very intelligent woman. Offers a lot of extra credit and is very passionate about teaching and why we need it. Easy to follow slideshows pretty much cover everything that's in the book so you don't need to buy it if you don't want. You do need the workbook, though. Overall great and interesting class.
She is by far my favorite professor I have ever had. Her lectures are both entertaining and educational. There is alot of work in this class, but it really prepares you for the tests. I love how she has her classes participate in moot court. It really helped me understand the constitution and how the Supreme Court makes decisions.
GREAT PROFESSOR! She's hysterical, obnoxious and a bit crazy. But she's also the most interested, caring, and knowledgable professor at UNT. Her class isn't that hard if you check BlackBoard on a daily basis; her class is pretty much required to have a laptop, high-speed internet, and a clicker. Very high-tech class. RECOMMENDED!
One of the best classes I've had. If you don't have the time outside of class beware because work is required. Lectures are awesome! The TA is stellar and they work hard to address any needs you might have. I actually feel like I learned something after leaving this course!
Kimi is freaking hilarious and loud and brilliant. The nextgen can take some getting used to but if you do everything there's no way you won't make an A. TAs insanely helpful and Kimi is as well. She wants you to do well in her class. Tests are easy if you follow the structure of the class.
Hard to get used to next gen, but once you get used to it the class it is fairly easy. If you are confused she is always available to help via bb or going into her office hours. ATTEND CLASS
King Rocks! Its easy to take the exams if you study the power point and take good notes, because she will say "I care you know' a lot! And that tells you what to take notes over. However, be prepared for lots of homework! Shes very interesting and passionate though, and shows funny comedian videos like Jon Stewart!
Amazing! So energetic, and passionate. You have to have her! She gives out TONS of extra credit! You HAVE TO TAKE THIS CLASS
I LOVE her and you will too. Take this course with her. You will learn something. Remember your clicker when you attend class,
Dr King's class is A LOT of work. It's a Next-Gen class, so you will spend many hours a week online. There is a learning curve, so to say, in this class, if you can make it through the first test, you can make it through the whole class. There is a lot of group work. However, I'm glad to say I made it through.
If you do all of the quizzes and games (along with NYTimes), you can get an A without even opening the textbook. She is a great teacher and loves her job. Glad to have had her for my first semester of college.
There's a whole lot going on at once. The workload is a little rediculous as far as I can tell
Kimi is why I'm a lawyer. Seriously, she stopped me in the hall, got in my face, and said "you need to go to law school" She also walked me through the law school app process and wrote a recommendation. Take all her classes if you plan on law school. Save your books/notes,they will help A LOT.
LOVE LOVE LOVE her. I am not at all interested in government but I always looked forward to her class. Very involved with students and extremely passionate about her work. Warning, it is a nextgen course, and it's a bit tricky at first. Do all the online stuff and use your clicker and you'll do fine.
She is so passionate about her subject that she will make you WANT to learn and actually WANT to go to class! The nextgen thing was a little tricky to get a hang of at first, but she is very cooperative and is always fighting for her students. LOVED HER!
Dr. King is great. I hate political science/government but she keeps me somewhat interested and able to keep a good grade. Class lectures are interesting. She gives extra credit and is willing to help you individually if you need it. The fact that she is passionate about teaching makes her class so much better. I recommend her!
She tries to cover way too many topics in one semester. She likes to assume everyone is going to love her class and wants to spend all their time doing her homework. But, she knows her subject that's for sure.
Loved this class, it wasn't always the easiest but it was good. She offers a lot of extra credit, so don't be lazy just do it! She is serious about her New York Times which are a pain, but can really help your grade out though. She is real down to earth, I would recommend her.
I took her next generation class at 9:00am. She loves what she teaches and breaks it down for you. As long as you go to class, read the book, and play her games online then you are guaranteed an A in her class and on the tests. I would take another one of her classes in a heartbeat.
The group projects suck! Her tests are kind of difficult. This is a nextgen class so you need a clicker and everythings online. The homework and new york times quizzes are pretty simple, and there is 1 a week. She is an awesome lady and super fun and funny but this is not a blowoff class! Oh and you have to purchase the online book!
She is a seriously awesome prof for PSCI, but this class is not an easy one, lots of work involved but it's interesting and totally worth it. Have to keep up to date with readings, including NYTimes ones she gives you, plus since it's NextGen, lots of online stuff to do. Show up to class to be better prep for tests and get clicker points
Overwhelming at first. NextGen are for those ALWAYS online. Dr. King is serious about PSCI. Make sure you purchase clicker, read NY times. It's best to team up with 1 or 2 people to ensure load of busy work completed. Group projects easy-just attend & pay atention. SI sessions help for exams and play PUNDIT game online. You must buy WB at least.
Impossible to fail! Great professor and actually makes the lecture interesting! "I CARE YOU KNOW"!
Kimi King was absolutely amazing. If you go to class (bring your clicker), listen, and do the assignments it is almost impossible not to make at least a B+ in her class. She offers a TON of XC and tutoring sessions as well. She does take the class seriously, but she makes it very interesting.
She is so rude and so hard to take notes. fast talker! if you ask her a question she doesnt want to help you! she relies on her 8 TAs. lazy professor and her test are really hard
Overwhelming. Do NOT take if you don't like online work. Talks fast and loud. Do your reading. LOTS of extra credit opportunities (52 points worth). Group projects are terrible. If you're interested in polisci you would love this class, if not good luck.
I read the reviews before taking this class and was aware of the amount of work required for this class, man were those reviews correct. I recommend going to class everyday, doing all of the work required, because the tests are hard and there are many opportunities for your grade to rise. My average test grade was a 70 and I got a B in the class.
She's actually really cool. If you don't like to do online work don't take this class. There is a lot of online quizzes along with reading a lot of New York Times magazines. Show up, bring your clicker, and take notes and you should be fine. "I CARE YOU KNOW" <-- haha you'll hear her say this a lot.
This class was fairly easy. Go to class, go to SI sessions and get the powerpoint, and study what is one those for the tests. I loved that Dr. King loved what she did and made it as interesting as she could. She wants her students to succeed. Don't need to do the reading, but do the online WB assignments and read NY Times articles.
The group project for this course is ridiculous but other than that great professor.
Fairly easy class, tests are easy and there is a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Her teaching style is amazing. She is very interactive, funny, and she really knows her stuff. Plus she gives endless extra credit so there is no reason to fail.
A lot of info in this class. But a lot of opportunities to maintain a good grade. I hate Poli Sci, but King is a Great teacher. PRINT OUT THE POWER POINTS. I don't know how anyone could pass without them. Highlight the "care you knows" to help for tests. I definitely recommend her.
Freaking awesome teacher, agree with all the good reviews. Know the NYT hints and bring your clicker. Take advantage of the multiple XC she assigns. She's awesome. Tests are off the PP basically...if you did well in AP Gov, you should do fine in this class.
Kimi King is freakin bonkers, but she knows her stuff. She is a great teacher. Read the New York Times articles and do some extra credit and you will be fine.
She is one of the greatest teachers ever. Extra credit drastically saves your life. Her notes are very clear, read the NYT articles, read the workbook chapters, PLAY PUNDINT, and do the group projects. It is a very easy class to pass
Very helpful. Very clear. Fun-loving. Interesting. Makes SCOTUS cases the most interesting subject to learn about.
I loved Dr. Kings class. She really loves government and her passion is awesome!! Makes class fly by. You really don't need the textbook only the workbook. Pay attention to her "Care you Knows" and you'll ace her tests!
This class is difficult, but because Dr. King is so helpful, it relieves some of the stress. She even gives out her cell phone number and tells you to call her if you have questions.
Dr. King is AMAZING! Political Science can be a difficult class, but King makes it so clear. There is no reason you shouldn't pass as long as you attend class regularly. The only complaint I have about this class are the stupid group assignments. They were difficult and I don't feel they accomplished anything. Regardless, TAKE DR. KING.
Group projects will absolutely destroy your grade (like it did mine) if you are in a bad group. I am a PSCI major and made a D because of the project. Overwhelming and hard to keep up with. Doesn't give out a final review, tests are pretty easy though. You will definitely learn a lot if you take this class and are interested in Political Science.
GREAT PROFESSOR! She teaches with so much passion and you can tell she loves her job. She likes to make your life easier by giving A LOT of extra credit. If you have a chance to take her, DO IT! You will not regret it. Though, her group projects are pointless, they are easy. I loved Dr. King!
Dr. King is incredible. If you are a first semester Freshman, you need to take this class. Dr. King is so passionate about Political Science that by the end of the semester you will be too. Don't buy the expensive book, just get the online code. Group projects aren't fun but they aren't bad. Make sure that you're showing effort and you'll be fine.
Fast thinker. Fast talker. Lots of notes. You'll know more about the Constitution than you ever knew before. When you're that competent, you can kind afford to be a little bit terse. She's what you want all of your professors to be.
Dr. King is so awesome! Her class is generally straight forward. I loved her class. She made learning gov't so much fun. Everything is online and suuuuper easy! She's also super fun to listen to during lectures.
Do all the work (which she gives A LOT of), put in max effort, and you will get no less than B. Also do all the extra credit because she gives out a lot of it and it helps out tremendously. If you're lazy, don't take her.
Dr. King was my first professor of my college career last semester and I must say, SHE IS AWESOME! She is passionate about PSCI and makes her students get into it too. Just take down her lecture notes and do the SI review sheets before tests and you'll make an A no problem!
Stay faaaar away guys, far away. You've been forewarned. Ms. Kimi is so in over her head its hilarious but in the end the joke is on you (the students) for her faults. The biggest issue i had was she places 10 ta's and a 50 page syllabus between you and her so shell never want to talk to you and have you refer to them instead. Very pretentious.
NextGen blows! You basically learn every detail word for word for each test. So if like tons of work and no help from your professor take this course.
ADVISORY!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! You will hate your life. This class is harder then any upper level classes. She goes way to fast and tries to cram as much information in you as she can. She doesn't really seem to actually "care" if you know he material. PLEASE just STAY FAR FAR AWAY from this class.
DON'T DO IT! It's awful. She's great and everything but there are large group projects that don't really count for as much as they should. The only way to pass the class is mandatory attendance for clicker questions and NYT quizzes that can be super easy.
Dr. King is GREAT! she is so helpful and vibrant! While fast paced, her class is very interesting and you will learn a lot!! I don't very much care for the group projects. They're kind of silly. The amount of extra credit she offers is unreal! I love it!
This is a VERY easy class if you attend her lectures. Dr. King is great. She always goes "I care, you know" which means it's going to be on the test. There is some outside work sometimes, there's New York Articles you read (for quizzes and a little bit for the test) and quirky group projects. Overall, easy, and a little interesting sometimes.
A VERY good professor. I would recommend her to any of my friends, especially those that struggle with social sciences. I've taken three courses with her, and I wish I could take more. Her tests are hard, but fair. Study even a little bit and you will do well.
She is really nice and offers a ton of extra credit, but the TAs can be pretty mean sometimes.
Dr. King is the best teacher I've had in my college career. She has a passion for PoliSci and loves to teach. Her lectures are engaging and entertaining. There is some extra work with NextGen, but that is not her fault. I highly recommend taking her! All work in the class is easy and straight forward.
Not an easy class at all, but VERY informative and enjoyable. STUDY!!! Huge presentation that makes most of your grade
Dr. King is the best!! I had her next gen 1040 class, and although it was not an easy A, I enjoyed every minute of it! Attendance is mandatory, especially since most of the info on the exams comes from the notes, but she makes the class very interesting, so there really is not a reason to miss! Take good notes, study, and work with your group!!
She's amazing! The way Dr. King approaches the subject, you just know she's so passionate about it! She complains a lot about the technology in the classroom, but I don't blame her. The wifi gave out and then the clickers don't work some days. She's REALLY great, because she gives extra credit and makes class fun! 1010 would take again!
My only regret about this class is that I didn't show up more often. She has wonderful lectures, and is definitely passionate about political science. Her lectures and assignments are current to what's actually going on in the world - not what has happened in the past. Fantastic teacher. 1010 would take again.
After having her for a semester I have learned she is an immensely difficult professor. The lectures are fast pace and you WILL NOT be able to get everything written down. Every student is also required to read two New York Time's articles every day for the Quizzes every other week or so. DONT TAKE HER I PROMISE. (she gives Lots of Extra credit)
Dr. King is great! The class is an easy A if you dedicate a little bit of time. Do some of the extra credit, do well on the New York Times quizzes, which are not hard to keep up with & are open book, go to class & attend some SI sessions every now & again (they are very helpful). She's fast paced, knows what she's talking about & wants you to pass.
She is an astounding lecturer; I used to hate politics and now I hate it much less ;) she has helped me understand it better and see it as more important. Although her class was a little high maintenance at times (she makes you read 2 articles of the NYT Mon-Fri), I will take her again. She just makes things interesting and she makes me laugh.
She made political science an interesting and interactive course! She's not like your typical professor so her assignments seem confusing at first. There's not really a lot of homework; mostly everything that's for a grade will be online.
I've had her for the Spring of last year, and she is a wonderful professor. Her humor and her upbeat attitude have made the class enjoyable. However, besides that, the course is a lot to work with, and requires you to be present in class as much as you can, and also that you study constantly in order pass the class.
She's a very interesting and passionate lecturer. She's tough, but fair. Always says "I Care You Know ___" during class. Clicker participation is a must, but other participation is optional. Extra credit galore. Tests were online, and she was lax about using the booknotes. Easy, but they are timed, so go to class and take notes and you'll be fine.
She is a great lecturer. I had her 8am class and i felt like she did a good job of keeping us awake. I will definitely take her 1050 class as well. She is very easy to understand as well. If you show up to class and take good notes, it's hard not to get an A. Also, she has tooonnnss of extra credit!
One of my favorite professors. She's very smart but unlike some, she makes sure all the students can followunderstand her. Tons of assignments but also tons of extra credit. Her lectures are fast paced but still interesting and often pretty funny. It's a tough class but never boring or tedious -- she makes sure you're enjoying yourself.
Go to class and take good notes, especially the "I care you know..."'s. If you do, don't even waste your money on the text. After the first test, you will see that all questions are lecture based. Oh yeah, you are going to read New York Times articles that will be backed by a quiz. It's easy though. Lots of help, and TONS of extra credit.
I had Dr. King for Con Law and she was honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. She gives so much extra credit that I ended up with more than a 100 on the final. She is clear, concise, knows her stuff and brings a fun personality into a class that can sometimes be very dull to some people. Every Political Science major should take her.
Always keeps lessons exciting. Online tests (about 3 including the final) are not hard just read the textbook and go to class. Homework assignments are not hard at all. I paid a lot for this class (she uses clickers, recommend to buy one in the long run). She hands out extra credit like crazy!!! Take the time to do extra credit, it certainly helps!
Dr. King is an amazing lecturer, she is very passionate and willing to help students. Attendance is not mandatory but you get clicker questions everyday that can really boost your grade. Homework is really easy workbook assignments. As for the tests, they are very tough, there are only 3 tests that cover a lot of material and no reviews are given.
King is such a great professor and you can tell she loves Political Science more than anything. King's class in general is pretty hard when it comes to her tests if you don't study her "I Care You Knows" and the Textbook. She does give out tons of extra credit which may bump you up a letter grade depending on the grade you get for the last test.
LOVE KING!! Wish I could take her again! She was so enthusiastic and cares a LOT about her students. Her lectures are really interesting and she gives out extra credit like candy. I got Bs on the exams but still ended up with a 102 final grade because I had over 50 extra credit points so do the XC. Attendance is a must because of the clickers.
She was a great prof. She knows what she is doing, she is just fabulous!
Dr. King's class is simply fantastic. She is a great lecturer and keeps her class engaging. She offers numerous extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. I would definitely take her class again.
She's a great professor to speak to, I missed an exam due to my inability to study to my full potential, which was brought on by the death of a close family member. She did not stress me missing the exam and offered a written make up close to the end of the course. Surprisingly helpful.
Best professor on campus! Professor King is caring and wants to help students, as long as they help themselves. She does not tolerate laziness and you will have to do the assignments. But there is a ton of extra credit opportunities in case you do really bad on a test. If you fail this class it will be your own fault!
King is by far one of the best professors at UNT. Her energy for every lecture allows you to stay up no matter if it is a 9AM class. However, don't be fooled, you will not pass if you do not read on your own. Her lectures are fast paced with overwhelming material content. If you make flashcards of key points especially court cases, that will help!
King is a great lecturer and gives out TONS of extra credit. Take note of all her "I care you know"s and you'll be set for a majority of all the exams. It seems stupid to NOT get an A/B in this class, but it's possible with the clicker grades/mandatory attendance. Homework is online MC & short answer Qs, & some MC from the HW will be on the exams.
One of the best professors at UNT! Here dedication to her students is amazing. She will go above and beyond. Tough class but very rewarding!
All I can say is that she does a phenomenal job for teaching such huge classes. Her lectures are amazing and she somehow knew my name without me ever talking to her. She uses her TAs for a lot of communication but you can get into contact with her if need be, but the TAs are awesome. Go over powerpoints and the book and you'll be fine.
She really knows her stuff! She gives out a TON of extra credit! Most questions come from her lectures and the online homework after the chapters. I just skimmed the book near the end of the term and that worked fine. She uses clicker questions to measure attendance. so don't miss too many classes. She records her lectures too so you can go back.
Professor King is just an amazing teacher. She doesn't tolerate cheating on the in class quizzes and she makes it so that you have to show up to class everyday for full credit, but why wouldn't you want to? Class is a blast every day and it always puts a pep in my step. Tests are super easy if you study.
Great overall just pay attention
Easily the best lecturer I have had at UNT. She is clearly knowledgeable and passionate about Poly Sci. She provides so many extra credit opportunities, and you get a lot of points just for showing up to class. Her tests are very easy if you pay attention in class. I used the online textbook for HW but barely touched the print copy. Take King!
She made the class fun and interesting, and often times used current events as examples in class. READ THE SYLLABUS! It is technology heavy! Clicker/reef polling is graded attendance for the class and she gives out a lot of extra credit. All in all she is a great teacher, not just a professor who isn't interested in her students.
King is by far the best professor in the Poli Sci Department. She cares so much for what she is teaching, and you as the student. One of the most understanding professors around. Pay attention to her catch phrase "I Care You Know", because this is her leading you directly into the test questions! Will definitely try to take a class with her again
she is very passionate about her class and what she does. If you are not a good test taker there are plenty of other ways to make up your grade. She lectures the entire time but she makes in engaging and interesting. some may say she's tough but overall great teacher.
Dr. King is the best. She is a little crazy (in a good way) but she is extremely knowledgeable about political science and you can tell she loves talking about it. She gives lots of bonus opportunities as well and she uses clicker questions to check attendance.
Great teacher! Highly recommend Professor King. She gives a lot of extra credit points too.
Great Professor! Dr. King is passionate in what she teaches and it shows. Expect interactive lectures, questions, etc in her upper level classes. Cares about her students but isnt going to let you skate through class. REEF is used for attendance, but honestly, who would want to miss her classes!? Looking forward to more classes w/ her and Meernik.
Best professor I've ever taken by far. She goes out of her way to make sure you succeed if you really try. She makes her lectures really interesting and she offers a lot of really easy extra credit. TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!!
psci is a very boring topic but she makes sure you know your stuff! there is no way you should fail this class with tons of extra credit. in class she does "i care you know" to let you know thats important for the test. the only thing is, she has a lot of assignments due every week. she is really passionate and tries to spread it to you lol.
Dr. King is an AMAZING teacher! She is hands down the best Political Science teacher UNT has! She is an amazing lecturer and truly wants her students to understand political science! You can't go wrong taking her class! She also offers TONS of extra credit opportunities!
King is truly a rare gem here at UNT. She truly cares about all her students, and has a fair work load. Three exams, workbook assignments, Texas Tribune quizzes and reef polls make up your grade. A LOT of extra credit is offered so it is literally impossible to fail, as she wants everyone to pass. Pay attention to "I care you know"!
Best Professor I've had at UNT thus far. She's won teaching awards and lives her life surrounded by the passion she uses to fuel her lectures. I was inspired to register to vote, to be more active in my communities politics, etc. She gives tons of extra credit, plays awesome music before her lectures, amazing Professor all around.
Attendance (via Reef) is 15% of your grade, so not going to class and getting those points is a real drag. She offers a metric ton of extra credit though, and if you take advantage of it as it comes up you can get 20-30 extra points fairly easily. I never purchased the actual textbook, but did use the Soomoo workbook and all of its assignments.
Kimi is very clearly passionate about what she lectures. She is always open before and after class for questions. Offers boatloads of extra credit over the course of the semester (42 points total) that are worth taking. Takes attendance through reef polling for a grade. The only issue I had was that she often liked to change slides quickly.
Not an easy class but she's one of the best. Dr. King is very passionate and I learned a lot.
Dr. King is a very entertaining professor. She makes her lectures interesting and had the class participate through surveys. She assigns little assignments throughout the week, but nothing stressful or hard. The tests are very straightforward and multiple choice, if you study you will receive an A or high B. Definitely recommend her!
Dr. King requires a lot of sources for exams, but she is up front about this at the beginning on the semester. If you follow her syllabus as a study guide, it's pretty easy to prepare for this class. She makes lectures very interesting and overall I would take her again for another class!
Dr King is an amazing professor. Her lectures are engaging and very interesting. But you do have to attend. She records her lectures so it's very easy to catch up if you do miss. Exams are easy if you do the required readings and pay attention to class. There is a lot of work though. Workbook and clicker questions during class are a must!
Passionate and influential in the political science field, but tends to be super annoyed easily with minor things. She will complain a lot if phones go off or if people are talking, and she can have days where she is irritated during the entire lecture. Gives TONS of extra credit that count towards your final. Uses clicker questions for attendance
Dr. King is a QUEEN! She really reminded me the importance of staying aware politically and Im far from a politics major. She's intense, for sure, but she is super helpful kind and amazing. If you don't like to work for anything, don't take her class. No need to buy the book in my opinion, only the workbook is needed.
She is an amazing professor and truly cares about her students success. Even though there were 400+ students in the lecture she wants everyone to succeed and gives lots of extra credit. After her last lecture she stopped to thank us for taking her class and how much she appreciated us. Its the things like that that make a class so great.
She's really passionate about political science! She really wants her students to succeed. All that I can say is that I'm disappointed I won't be taking her for the next Political Science class.
This class is so easy! I recommend Ms King for anyone who needs to take political science. I didnt even buy the textbook. You really only need the Soomo workbook for assignments. Attendence does matter! She makes students do clickers in class on your phone every class so make sure you come. Those are for attendance. Tests can easily be passed!
I loved having Dr. King for PSCI 2305 this semester. She's hilarious! She says "I care you know" during her lectures so you know exactly what is on the test. As long as you listen for her "I care you knows," there should be no reason why you don't pass the test. Questions are easy. Lots of homework. Didn't need textbook. Attendance is a grade.
King's class is a lot of work, but she is always super clear about what is expected of you. I got the textbook, but honestly you could get away with buying the Soomo WB only. She does daily iClicker polls (worth 1% of your grade each week) for attendance and offers plenty of extra credit, all the points of which get tacked onto your final exam.
Dr. King is a very engaging professor. She is full of energy and knows what she is talking about. She is very willing to help students out when they are struggling.
She is passionate and "cares you know" about the subject matter. Homework is pretty simple, tests are easy A/B if you study properly and pay attention to her lectures. Notes and lectures are posted online, but show up.
Her personality drives me nuts. She gives homework but expects you to follow all the political happening in real life. She gets really into her lectures. She cares way too much. She has 3 exams, quizzes every other week. Her exams are mostly based on her lectures but includes a few questions from the textbook and quizzes.
the professor as a person, is pretty nice and kinda funny, BUT NOT AS A PROF I literally dread the class and I don't like the fact that she doesn't give reviews at all but she expects you to memorize and know lit er ally everything she ever saysfor the tests. literally. she also expects you to be up to date w/ political news and what not, not cool.
Worst professor I've had yet and I am a 4.0 student. I attended all classes, multiple SI sessions and did all homework and reading assigned (which is a lot) and nothing I studied was on the tests. If you want a class thats going to take the amount of time you'd put into a full time job... take her. But I highly recommend you find another professor.
Ignore the bad ratings!!!! She is the BEST teacher EVER! She does not give reviews, no. BUT she posts her notes, AND lectures on canvas!! So a review isn't even needed. As long as you do your assignments, TAKE NOTES IN CLASS (just being there isn't enough), and not cram for tests, you should pass absolutely! Plus extra credit ;)
Dr. King is so charismatic it's hard to NOT love her lectures and her class. It's pretty easy if you show up, pay attention, and do the extra credit. Sometimes the Texas Tribune quizzes get frustrating, but it's not too hard. 10/10 would take again.
I hated this class more than anything. The professor pretends to be a cool professor the whole time, but assigns articles for you to read everyday and quizzes you on very specific questions from those articles. The workload is crazy. Also, dont take this class if youre a sexual assault victim/survivor because she refuses to give trigger warnings.
Huge classrooms, doesnt give final review. Difficult course
Dr. King is a great professor and genuinely wants all her students to do well. This class is an easy A if you put in effort. She offers a lot of easy extra credit, I ended up with 30 points and I didnt do all of it. She doesnt give you a review but she clearly states exactly what is on the test in her lectures.
Prof King is a very kind and intelligent lady, however her lectures are very long and hard to follow along with since she gets distracted a lot. Attendance is mandatory, she passes around an attendance sheet which is crazy for a 500+ class. No reviews on tests. Take online if this is not a major class.
This class is easy if you put in effort. She assigns you to read a Texas Tribune article everyday which was a little annoying, and sometimes her lectures are a little hard to follow, but other than that I loved her. Lots of extra credit!!!
Literally the best professor I've ever taken in my entire undergraduate career. Even with a Class of 300, she makes it a point to remember and help you if you need it.
Was a great class. Kept students engaged and was not a difficult course at all. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
I'm not a polisci major, but I find current events interesting so I enjoyed her lecture. She KNOWS her stuff. She can be a little intense and all over the place which can be overwhelming in a 300+ student class. Not an easy A class but she gives ample opportunities for extra credit (if you're not afraid of public speaking.)
I would have loved this class a lot more if it wasnt at 8am but shes a good professor! She is very interactive and will clarify any questions without making you feel bad for not understanding.
Great professor, would absolutely take again. She is a lecturer but a good one and always kept my attention. Not the easiest class in the world, but definitely very fair. Do the homework and read everything she says to and you can easily get an A.
This was one of the best and hardest classes I've had. This class covered ALOT of Supreme Court cases and King made the cases easy to understand and their application. She really knows her stuff and really wants to see you succeed. Make sure you participate and do the extra credit(I had 15 points at the end). Great class!
Dr. King is probably the only teacher who could make me want to get up for an 8 a.m. The textbook is necessary- it's used for homework and is worth 15% of our grade. If you showed up to class, it was an easy A. My biggest complaint is that the TA's didn't often seem to be on the same page as Dr. King. I loved this class
This is probably one of the most verbally decorated professors at UNT. Personally, she saved my life. I went through a life changing event last semester, and she pulled me into her office, gave me water, and simply encouraged me through my situation. Amazing. She knows her stuff, so know yours. And she loves her job which will make you love her
The textbook has all of the homework questions that are for a grade. She also emails a current article from Texas Tribune every day, so that we are up to speed on the current news, there are 4 quizzes on those throughout the semester. You do clicker in there that counts attendance for a grade. She is the queen of EC, lots of inclass and some others
Dr. King cared about each individual's success. There are soooo many opportunities for Extra Credit. Attendance is not "mandatory" it is 10% of your grade so you'll pass, but all the test info is given in class pretty much. King was hands down the best professor. She is intense and intimidating but she cares and is willing to help :)
The work load was kind of exssesive. Most people that took her Texas constituents last semester needed up with a completely different grade then what they expected. Weekly assignments we tough to complete and then she makes you come to class.
The class consists of interesting lectures, TX Tribune articles, 3 TX Tribune Quizzes (open note), 3 Exams (XC added to E3, E3 not cumulative), and online homework. Textbook assignments are multiple choice/short answer. Dr. King is caring, wants her students to succeed, gives clear expectations, and offers A LOT of easy extra credit opportunities.
Really good Professor. She really cares. You will pass, but you have to work for it.
She was super engaging ! One of the best professors I've had. Just do your textbooks (which are super easy) and study for the exam.
Dr. King is hilarious, passionate, and caring. Her lectures can be fast paced, but you actually learn things, unlike a lot of other classes. Just do your work and youll be fine!
Several pros: Engaging, accessible in case you need help, lectures are alright, high energy, and makes information incredibly easy to absorb. 2 cons: Her voice resembles 2 pieces of styrofoam being rubbed together, and her political opinions were quite obvious after 1 lecture (which would be alright if she wasn't a political science professor)
IF YOU DO NOT TAKE PROFESSOR KING FOR THIS SUBJECT YOU WILL REGRET IT! She is beyond sweet and she offers a bucket load of extra credit, which takes less than 10 minutes to do (if you choose). She also does not believe in her students failing, so she will extend quiz deadlines. She gives you "I care you know" in lectures, which are ALWAYS on test.
kimi is the GOAT. she is very funny and explains concepts really well. she also makes sure to let you know during lecture when specific things will be on a test! lots of extra credit opportunities. very understanding. show up to lecture and get bonus points. homework super easy too.
Pretty easy course she extends deadlines a lot and is flexible. However, she is without a doubt the most annoying professor I have ever had. She makes weird noises during lectures gets extremely close to the camera and is way too loud for a morning class. Equivalent to listening to styrofoam rubbing against each other for an hour and a half.
I cannot recommend Kimi King enough! She made the course very interesting! Not only is the homework easy and the Texas Tribune quizzes easy 100s but their are so many easy extra credit opportunities! She really cares to see you succeed. If you have the chance take her you won't regret it and is an Easy A class as long as you do you work.
Dr. King is a very knowledgeable professor but this class was very scattered. The syllabus, rubrics, and information were often conflicting and it's almost impossible to get an email response from her or the TAs. The Moot Court assignment seemed unnecessary and overcomplicated. I did enjoy the content of the class, I feel like I learned a lot.
Dr King is the best professor UNT has! She does not play around so be prepared to STUDY A LOT but once you do, you'll do great!
Dr. King is the best professor Ive taken at UNT. Ive taken 3 of her classes, her classes are tough but you learn a lot from her. I would totally recommend her!! She offers a lot extra credit as well! You do have to participate in class on reef bc it counts towards your grade.
Loved this class!
I fail to see how King has such a high rating. She is belittling to all her students and blames the dereliction of one individual on the entire class. I'm a 4.0 junior, and her class was the first I've EVER dropped. I just couldn't take the routine fussing anymore. Because of her class, I wholly abandoned my Political Science minor.
I have honestly no idea why her rating is so high. Demeaning and uncaring, thinks she's so benevolent for giving out "ample extra credit opportunity" but every piece of extra credit is not only worth one point, but incredibly difficult. To put that in perspective, the web text assignments (which she assigns 2-3 per week) are worth 100 points EACH.
King is knowledgeable and goes through a lot of effort to help every student. That being said, she does go quick, so don't take this class if you don't take notes well. Also, she gives a lot of EC. Each point of EC goes directly to the final exam, so 40 EC points + a 60 on the exam means you still get 100, or you can get more than 100%.
This course scarred me for life. I have extensive knowledge of this subject matter and could not score a decent grade on an exam. I thought that I needed to think more simply, as it's a basic course, and that didn't work, either. My JD mother, with her undergrad in polisci, said that course was all over the place.
Absolutely love professor King, she is an queen. You can zoom in even though it's an in person class, just make sure to always pay attention to the in class clicker that she uses. The clicker is used as your attendance/participation grade. Tests are open note, but I HIGHLY recommend that you study. There are MULTIPLE opportunities for extra credit!
The class is too easy. Other then then exams, all the interactive homeworks are This class is mad easy. Other then the tricky exams, every assignment is online and you have plenty of leasure time to complete them. Lots of EC !
Professor King gives entertaining lectures and uses lots of modern examples. Minor assignments and quizzes add up, skipping a few will affect your grade. All quizzes and exams are open note but you really should study beforehand as they are timed. She gives lots of opportunities for extra credit both in-class and outside. Great professor.
This is an okay class and you get lots of extra credit opportunities for the final exam which is always a plus. The professor is nice but she has TA's who you'll talk to more if you have any issues. You'll need to study hard to pass the tests because they aren't easy. Anything else like the assignments and quizzes is pretty normal and okay.
The only way to fail Prof. King's class is to refuse to do the work. The sheer amount of extra credit she gives out is the most I've ever had in a college class. The only tedious thing is the online book-work load, but since it's literally the textbook from the class, I suppose it could be much worse. She's an entertaining lecturer.
Professor King is great and passionate about her job. Attendance is mandatory, and she gives a lot of extra credit. It's a lot of homework, and her lectures are useful if you want to pass the exams.
I loved professor King. She is very inspirational and is always giving her students opportunities. There is also a bunch of extra credit so it is possible to pass the class. Attendance is mandatory because you get points from the app reef clicker, but we were also able to join the class through zoom (Spring 22).
Dr. King is an amazing professor and you can honestly tell that she enjoys teaching political science especially con law. I had my doubts about law school, but Dr.King gave me that spark and I truly believe she is the reason why most students want to pursue law. She's attentive and she cares about your success. Dr. King if you're reading this, ILY!
Honestly you can tell she lovess teaching and cares about everyone. Really amazing .
King is a great professor. She is very fun and a great lecturer. Get ready to pay attention; the class is really manageable, only if you attend.
i absolutely loved dr king! for someone's first semester in college, she was very generous with extra credit and assignment reminders. the only way you'll fail is if you don't show up. there are so many grade bump opportunities and the lectures are easy to follow. she is very knowledgeable and it shows. take her! you won't regret it.
I think it's very hard for you to fail this class. She constantly is giving extra credit assignments and even her regular assignments are easy. This class also offers a supplemental instructor so there's a lot of resources to help. She doesn't take attendance asks questions during class that is part of your grade, so it forces you to attend.
I had Dr. King for 2305 & 2306 and she was amazing. If anyone complains, they were probably lazy and didn't show up. She gives out extra credit like Opera and is very clear with her grading/syllabus. Tells you in the lecture what is on the tests. Write the "I care you know" and do your extra credit and you'll get an A+.
Dr. Kimi King is a nice lady, her class isn't hard, but it is hard to discern important from non-important info in her lectures. The class and workload itself is very manageable, but her lectures feel chaotic and unorganized. Her "extra credit" is plentiful but difficult to attain. If you are looking for an easy but solid class, take Kimi King.
One of my favorite professors so far! She gives lots of extra credit, cares about her students, tests are all online, and there are no quizzes. I took her for PSCI 2305 and 2306 and ended with A's in both classes. I would 100% take her again if I could.
Dr. King is an amazing professor who really tries to make people feel like they matter. She treats every student with respect and makes an effort to help people succeed. The class itself is very easy as long as you do the textbook assignments and take notes. Over the course of the semester it's easy to accumulate a lot of extra credit too. Easy A.
I am not the smartest with politics or government, but Dr King definitely made me much more interested and involved. Lectures are very engaging. If you wanna pass, she makes it clear that it is absolutely your responsibility. She gives so much extra credit that goes towards your final exam grade which definitely is gonna help.
She assigns a lot of outside work based around her lectures in class. Fairly easy grader, but there's a lot of reading to do. Pay attention to the assignments and to her lectures and you'll be fine. Her lectures span the entire class period and she goes fast so take notes. Her slides are posted online so if you miss something you can go look.
Dr. King is my favorite professor so far at UNT: she is so helpful and is willing to help anybody she can in any way both inside and outside of class. I believe that she truely cares, not only about the subject matter, or the teaching, but also about her individual relationship with every student she encounters.
She is super nice and understanding. There is always extra credit
Dr. King is a hilarious and down to earth intellectual. I was lucky enough to get into one of her smaller Psci sections and she is so caring and understanding and really just wants everyone to do well. So many xtra credit opportunities and what's on the syllabus is what you need to do. Taking her again next semester!!
While King's class was very lecture heavy and required excellent notes, her lectures were interesting and captivating. She always ensured everyone understood and got the help they needed. She was always offering extra credit or assignment redos. I would absolutely take her class again.
Dr. King is great! Ive had her twice. She is always willing to help. There is a decent amount of homework, but it's really easy if you just read or pay any attention at all. She is a great professor and I wish she had more classes I am taking.
Professor King's class was very lecture and note heavy, and you should also be prepared to have a lot of assignments outside of class. That being said, her lecture are very thorough and she is very passionate about what she teaches. She also provides many, many extra credit opportunities.
Be prepared to go to class and take notes bc tests are mainly based on lectures she gives in class.
Very Sweet person, incredibly passionate about Political Science. Attendance is absolutely mandatory with iClickers every class, and Presentations also every class. You can also earn up to 65~ extra credit points for your final exam, so very important to earn extra credit in this class.
Professor King is an engaging instructor who genuinely cares about student success. While her lectures can feel disorganized, the class workload is manageable, and she offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. Unstuckstudy AI proved helpful for study prep.
I absolutely adore Dr. King. She is passionate about what she teaches and provides you with plenty of opportunity to keep your grades up. You can bring a cheetsheet for tests. And she's super understanding so if anything is going on just communicate with her and she'll totally understand and work with you. I definitely recommend her courses.
She was amazing. One of my favorite professors, hands down. The class is easy as long as you show up. She offers many extra credit opportunities. And she is knowledgable/passionate about what she teaches. I love her so much:).
I highly recommend taking her PSCI 2306 class. She makes every class interesting and meaningful and if you are struggling with something, she will go out of her way to help you. I can that that she enjoys her job and is there to help her students succeed.
This class was a disaster. No organization at all
