Dr. Tanaka is the sweetest professor I've had so far. She is SO nice, takes the time to get to know everyone's name and sends personalized e-mails and comments all the time. She is freakishly good/fast at email. She's also a really easy grader(because she's so nice!). She draws circles on the board when she talks and it's hilarious.

Easily the sweetest woman ever. If you happen to get to class early she'll talk to you to find out more about you and will actually remember it. This was taken as a GEN-ED and it felt like one of my major courses. Although she is kind, she grades attendance, relies on the textbooks on top of the power point's, supplemental documents, and videos also given. It was a broad amount of material to cover in too many places at once. You HAVE to take good notes on ALL of those or YOU WONT PASS.

Lectures are all on the power points posted but the few grades, which are quizzes (Hard) and the final (HARD), include additional info from the textbooks, videos, and extra reading supplements found on your own time. A LOT of work for a GEN-ED COURSE. I'm typically a straight A student and have been throughout college until SOCIOLOGY. Like ???

Very nice prof, but anyone who says this is an easy a is clearly lying lol. Midterm and final make up a combimed 66% of your grade (200/300 pts) which is outrageous for gen ed class. The final tested us on a total of 22 different lectures w reading questions and also video clips. Not at all an easy A, but an obtainable one and an intresting class.

Dr. Tanaka is SO nice, she provides all of the info for the course in a way that's super easy to understand. Exams are open note, so keep a document of all of her reading questions. Lots of videos, some reading, short lectures, and discussion posts. Super easy A if you just do the work!!!

She is very sweet and I really like her as a professor. In order to be successful in this class do all of the reading questions and take lecture notes. If you stay on top of it the quizzes are very straightforward and you'll get a good grade. She does discussions sometimes in class so I wouldn't skip that often. There's also 20hrs community service

Great lectures, keep your notes organized for open note quizzes and exams. Reading questions are verbatim which are on the exams, so textbook is needed. In class discussions are 2 pts (counted for attendance) once a week. 1 major essay and outline. 5 quizzes, and 5 small assignments. 2 exams.

I took this class completely online during the summer, so I could only interact with Professor Tanaka through emails, yet it was clear that she is a very caring lady and wants you to succeed. As long as you do the readings and the assignments on time then this should be an easy A or B.

Quiz and test questions come directly from readings, lectures, and assigned videos. Attendance is not mandatory but is important for receiving participation credit. Tanaka is very considerate and understanding of extenuating circumstances and absences related to health. She truly and honestly wants you to succeed.

Professor Tanaka is so sweet. There's quizzes, writing assignments, and a midterm and final exam. As long as you do the readings and follow the reading questions (they're very clear and easy) you'll do great in this class. I highly recommend her!

I loved Dr. Tanaka! She was very sweet and her lectures were very organized. She would have quizzes almost every week but if you did the reading questions, they were pretty much the same thing. I had her class M/W/F and Fridays were async days which was great. A few papers but overall such a chill class and very interesting.

Took her over the summer and it was really easy. Time-consuming tho because her quizzes are based on the slides and videos so it's hard to look them up. But if you take the extra time to do her fill-in-the-blank notes and follow the rubric for papers it's an easy A.

Prof. Tanaka is great. I was nervous about this class because its literally about Japanese culture and I obviously do not speak Japanese but the course ended up being so easy and interesting. I also didnt see any ratings for 306 so that made me a bit nervous. It's super easy class tho. I recommend it!!!

Tanaka was a good professor. Lectures were kinda boring but you have to go to class to do well on the exams and quizzes. Also graded on participation of random in class activities so you cant skip often. Friday classes were always asynchronous. I only struggled because I didn't have the textbook so definitely get that if you are taking her!

For attendance you work with a group of your choice for 2pts. There are exams that are open book based solely off the slides posted from lecture. Would recommend doing the ungraded Friday online work to get better understanding to help achieve higher exam grades. Final is a project that you choose the topic on she grades fair and easy.

She is the sweetest! She is very understanding. Graded on a midterm and final that are pretty easy if you use the lecture notes/textbook. The only thing that was annoying is the community service hours. It can be difficult to get 20 hours during the semester especially if you are involved in other things.

All the test and quizzes were take home. She is amazing even though it was an 8am I didn't mind it however, there is participation points randomly which is her attendance but she post it like 20 minutes before class so you can see if you need to go to class for the points. You have 2 absences before it hurts your grade. No final but a final paper.
