Wonderful person. Has a helpful attitude and is a lot of fun.

He is a nice guy, but can be very sarcastic. Very strict with MLA format. A very difficult A in my opinion.
AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! This teacher ROCKS! This class ROCKS! and if you get off your lazy butts you will definitely get an "A"! I LOVE THIS TEACHER!
Good teacher, gets youthinking.Strict on MLA & sacrastic at times.
oh my gosh this guy is so funny and it really helps when your getting frusrated. he answers any questions and the peer reviews really help. i don't say that it's an easy A but it's definatly a hard F. (or E)
THE ICEMAN! haha if you have this dude make sure you have him tell you why people call him "THE ICEMAN". Truth be told, he's a hottie supreme who knows what he's talkin about. Not an easy A though, I was happy with a B and I'm usually rockin' the A's. But whatever, that's how I roll.
GREAT TEACHER!
Kip is a fun and nice teacher, as long as you are one of his chosen favorites. i witnessed him talking smack about some of his lesser favored students on a few occasions. He also was a bit too nice sometimes, be wary of him over-stepping your comfort boundaries if you are a pretty girl. also, my class started with 25 students and ended with 4. hmm?

I took the online course and Kip was very helpful and made himself very available for questions through email and chat online. Interesting course too! He involves watching movies that you have a pick of choosing which makes it better.

I took his online class last spring. He takes foreverrr when it comes to returning papers and posting the grades. I've never met him in person, but online he comes off as a total jerk. I'd never take a class from him again. (althgough for an online class, he has it really organized. Its easy to follow.)
I took his class online and I don't like him. It's easy to get a B, but almost impossible to get an A, he takes poetry waaaaaay to seriously, it's ridiculous.
I've been in a few of Kip's classes and I have enjoyed all of them - I scored well in my ENG 111 and Capstone class, but not as well in the poetry class - but I did it just for fun and on-line and I don't do so well on on-line. Kip is a great prof and always make himself available to help. You will learn and be challenged. Great prof!
He was organized and made this class fun. I would highly recomend.
Kip is my all time favorite. I really enjoyed going to his class. He's extremely funny and quite laid back. It's not easy getting an A on papers when he bases the grade strictly on the MLA format (he deducts points for every tiny mistake) but it did make me pay more attention to detail when I wrote my other papers. His grading is very fair though.
This professor I;ve heard is great in person, but from experience NOT GREAT ONLINE!! He asks for way too much work too often and makes the class hard to get an A. I like poetry, but we were just learning about it, not writing any. One great part of his class...you never have to go to the testing center which is nice.
Excellent class, great Professor, he is very fair and very helpful. I highly recommend Professor Kip Knott, his class is very interesting.
Took him Online, as others said he's not so good online, just because he's kinda absent. He'll go 2-3 weeks w/o posting any announcements & sometimes takes awhile to respond to email. Pretty slow grader. But he doesn't expect anymore work than other Eng teachers. Weekly journals/responses, 3 essays. He's clear about everything. I'd recommend him.
Excellent Professor, wish he could teach all of my classes. He is helpful, kind and very clear on what is expected. Most organized and makes class FUN!!! Enjoyed his class, highly recommended!!
He is relentless with format, not sure about how he grades. Not clear on scores. Gives a vague reference for deductions. He needs to give more feedback on scores.
This is late, but his class was enjoyable and I learned a lot.
I did not like this class! He likes to tear apart your ideas if they aren't what he thinks they should be. Maybe he's better in person. I took his intro to poetry class online and it was not a good class. Essay after essay after essay! I used to like poetry, but now I don't ever want to look at a poem again!
dude took forever to grade papers, gave very little if any feedback and lied about how to post comments because i took a class of his last quarter and he used the same excuse both times.
Never answers his emails. Takes forever to grade papers. I took his class online and you're basically on your own.
Hard. Doesn't answer emails and seems to look down on you from his position. Takes forever to post grades. Relentless on his rules and policies.
I have taken over 20 classes at Columbus State and this is easily the worst teacher at this college. Irresponsible, rude, condescending, and SLOW, Kipp Knott could not care less about his students and their education. He grades and takes students based on how little work he actually has to do. Even then, he takes FOREVER to post your grades. AVOID
He is basically worthless. Took forever to grade everything and doesn't get back to you. On the other hand when you finally get your grades, he grades really easy. I got A's on papers that should not have been A's. I got 100% on the journals and I didnt' even do them all.
If you need lots of feedback and have many questions, he is not for you. I took the online class and this professor is very clear on assignment guidelines. If you can work independently and do the work exactly as told, he is for you. VERY fair grader.
Very fun class! A very honest and genuine professor.
He might be a good teacher if he actually listened to students and took time to grade their work. instead, Kip Knott is more interested in listening to himself talk and handing out dumb assignments that he doesn't even grade anyway. Keep away from this guy.
Okay- did not grade papers! Took the class online and on the first paper he wrote comments. The rest of the papers I got pretty much the same grade, however no comments
Best Professor at the college, highly recommended! He is fair, easy to talk to and answers all questions. The class is a class that you acutally learn to love literature and writing. Loved the class!
This professor ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best class!
I took the online class. Not too difficult, but he gets behind in grading and has at least 10 different files that are basically the syllabus. He is also really stingy on points, taking them off just because he wrote 2 different things in parts of the syllabus
Took the class online and it was pretty easy. Assignments are clear and not to demanding. All in all about 2 small papers and a research paper at the end. Journals are every other week along with a response on the discussion board but its not hard. Always replys with emails and very clear on directions. If you do the work you will be fine
I took his class online and he is an AWFUL teacher. He never emails you back and takes forever to grade papers. Avoid taking his class if you can.
Kip was very helpful and laid-back. He really made the class interesting, even for people who don't like english.
Kip is one of the most interesting professors that I have ever had!! Attend class, write your papers and take some suggestions and you should do just fine!!
enjoyed the content of the course, but was very frustrated by the lack of communication. sent 5 emails w no response--finally another professor put a note in his mailbox asking him to please get in touch with me. Frustrating! Maybe he's better in face to face classes than online...
Could not access his comments on papers, and he told me he would fix this, so I could have some feedback, yet he never did give me feedback. He never responded to three emails I had sent. Overall, I did well in the class, but I felt like he was too busy to answer emails and grade our papers. However, it was an easy Poetry class!
I took ENG-250 online and was having a lot of trouble but Prfossor was really helpful. I highly recomend all students to take his class.
Good online class. just do the work and make sure you know who your audience is and youll be ok.
I took this class online. This professor took over two weeks to grade what was handed in. He is not very clear on his instructions. For this level of English he required too much detail. He is very anal retentive.
Took the online class. All of the readings are posted online. He doesn't respond to emails and does take a few weeks to grade all assignments. The topics of papers are sort of up to you. I enjoyed choosing what I wrote about but it was tricky and I was more engaged. He likes when you choose something he didn't recommend. Don't just use the examples
The worst teacher at Columbus State. He is rude, lazy and SLOW. He will take forever just to grade a simple assignment and then he doesn't even give you decent comments or reasons as to how you earned your grade. Avoid like the plague!
Avoid him!! I love the subject, but he was horrible. VERY slow!! Do not take his class.
I have taken 2 of his online classes, they're the easiest I've taken. They require work, but no more than your typical English class. He places the entire course agenda online from day one. Its great for someone with a busy schedule, allows you to plan ahead. He is slow to grade, but helpful if you seek it. If you don't mind reading, take his class
Stay away from this teacher! He takes forever to grade your assignments and his comments on your papers don't help. I normally get A's or B's in English classes, but right now I'm failing! Don't enroll in any of his classes!
I took his online class. He never responded to any emails I sent. It took him forever to grade assignments. I've taken 5 online classes at CSCC and he is by far the worst professor I have encountered. On the bright side, his assignments during the quarter were not difficult. The final paper was annoying because of all the resources needed.
It's true, he doesn't response often, and takes awhile to grade. But on the other hand if you do what he tells you it's an easy A.
He's a great professor. He's nice, funny, and is very helpful for those who don't understand English well, and knows how to challenge those that do. Overall, I'd say he's one of the best professors I've had.
This was my first online class and his was a good one to take. All of the assignments were clear and very easy to follow. He does take FOREVER to grade, and his comments were no help at all (Because they would not translate in English) but if you do everything how he asks it, it's an easy A.
One the best teachers ive ever had. he tries to help break down the crazy forms and rules of poetry, while getting the entire class involved. His class became some what of a therapy class because the class became unified and people werent afraid to share their poetry.
I took this class online. It was a very easy class. He is a very laid back grader. I got an A on all of my papers. I would recommend this teacher to anyone.
I have taken two of his online classes. The work isn't hard, he just has a LOT of specifications as to how he wants things done. I honestly felt like he didn't grade content, but whether or not you followed all of his weird specifications. He is the SLOWEST GRADER EVER....you will often have a second paper due before you have a grade on the first!
This class was a little disappointing because I thought we would have more opportunities to write poetry. That said, it was just OK as online classes go. He does have strict "policies" about how to turn in assignments, but it was still a pretty easy A. He takes FOREVER to give feedback so don't hold your breath.
MR. Knott is very helpful. His class is very challenging specially for non-native English speakers. But all you have to do is get tutoring advice and do all his assignments and It's a pretty easy A. I took this class on line and it requires to read A LOT! but Mr. Knott helps you when you need it and he respondes promptly to emails.
I took his 2367 class online and to be honest it was pretty easy. He is a slow grader. I've had a problem with my topic proposal and he helped me get it right. Easy A with a little effort.
I took Intro to Poetry with HIGH interest. I came out of it with little interest. The textbook is okay, and the assignments are pretty much to read the textbook and write a paper on a few poems OF YOUR CHOICE. Kip is nice, but takes FOREVER to grade. I often had to email him and ask what was up. I feel like i learned barely anything from his class.
Less helpful than a man with no eyes, limbs, or brain.
Worst professor at Columbus State Community College. He is slow on grading and completely useless as an English professor. Avoid him he sucks at teaching.
Kip seems like a nice guy, but when you can't get your professor to email you back and you're taking an online class it makes it hard to succeed. If you're looking for a fluff class, Intro to Poetry definitely isn't it. He is incredibly particular about paper length and format.
Journal postings aren't graded until the end. Nit-picky on paper formats (ex. have to be submitted as rtf). Slow to respond to emails, if he responds at all. Will give comments on submittedgraded work, but is not always clear on what he's saying.
Highly recommended!
He's passionate about literature and expects you to put your all into your work. He is clear in what he expects of your work and gives great feedback, but is slow on grading because of the amount of classes he teaches.
Kip is an amazing professor and hilariously funny! I suggest you take advantage of the opportunity to have him review your paper before he grades it as you always leave his office feeling better than when you came in. He gives great feedback and is an easy grader. He does take a while to grade, but it's not a big deal. I would highly recommend!
Answers e-mails super fast. Lets you revise papers for credit back.
Great class amazing professor. Loved his class and would def take any of his courses again. Very helpful and informative. Very caring.
Kips class is a lot of reading and a lot of papers, but he gives very clear instructions and also gives great feedback. The only things I found to be slightly frustrating is how long it too to get grades back - 2 weeks from due date is the min and at times slow to respond back to emails. Im sure he is busy but, I found myself getting impatient.
This is one of the most unique classes I've ever taken, as I only talked to the teacher over email once, and the rest was pre-prepared on blackboard already. If you want a class where you will never talk to the teacher, but all the of the assignments are already laid out, this is the one.
Took this course online and it saved me a lot of time! I was able to do all the assignments ahead of time. He gives great feedback. As long as you try and do all your work on time, you will pass with a decent grade! Only downside is he takes forever to grade.
Do not expect to hear from this professor- Emailed him multiple times without response... very picky about format and how you turn things in. Easy class if your good at English but teacher did nothing to help, enhance, or teach this subject. If English is not a cake walk for you, avoid
Highly command!
Takes forever to grade but for the most part he is an easy grader. He is very picky on the MLA formatting I only got docked a few points for that though. Make sure to turn in journals on time as specified on calendar they're not very hard just don't procrastinate, same goes for the papers you can even finish the class weeks in advance if you want
She does nor reply to emails or anything in a timely manner. She will put in every major writing project on the last day of the smester so you cannot do anything about your grade. Very unprofessinal.
Took this class online with a shorter term in the summer and was pretty difficult given it was only 5 weeks. Three major paper projects. Requirements for those papers are pretty lengthy. You have to check off each of the requirements in order to get a passing grade for the paper. Not a bad professor, would suggest a longer term though.
what a horrible teacher. gives you the material and says go for it than when you do not do exactly what was asked he completely tears you apart. I took poetry because I love poetry. This is an elective? so I took it looking for fun and a deeper understanding. I am so good at English. I do not think this Kip should be teacher let alone a professor.
This class is definitely not one to take online! Very paper heavy, with unclear grading criteria. If you don't know anything about poetry, I wouldn't suggest taking his class because he obviously has spent a lot of time studying this topic and holds very high expectations.
Worst professor ever!!! do not take.
Kip provides very clear guidelines on criteria. He was very receptive to me bouncing ideas off of him for papers ahead of time and gave good feedback on ways to develop my thesis. He is a slow grader. Make sure that you read the assignment guidelines over and over every week. There is a list of items you MUST meet to get a passing grade.
I took comp II with prof Knott, and I felt extremely discouraged throughout the entire course. Writing is typically my favorite educational topic, but that wasnt the case. His writing project requirements to receive above a C are lengthy. I felt as if my writing abilities were very restricted I had no room to be a creative write. Hard no
Never got above a 70% on any of my papers even though they met all of the requirements and word count. Professor was not helpful at all. Essays are way too much for a simple poetry class. Class does not fit course description, I was not expecting to have to write a 2,000 word essay with an annotated bibliography for a poetry class. Horrible
Professor Knott is a solid professor, who has an overall enjoyable class. There are few graded essays, but the grading criteria is clear. He also gives solid feedback on your essays and allows revisions for the first and second writing project. Make sure to follow the assignment requirements EXACTLY, or you will not receive a good grade.
Unfortunately, the nature of online classes means that I can't grade professors (especially English profs) on anything besides feedback. That being said, I'd say Knott was an especially fair grader who gave excellent feedback on the major writing projects. This is an incredibly reading-heavy class, so be ready!
You need to hit all his requirements for papers or you can't get better than a 69%. He at least lets you revise the first couple papers for a better grade, but more so than other profs you need to make sure to meet every detail of the requirements provided. Don't be fooled by "Intro", as you will need to work for your grade in this class.
He is an alright professor, he gave somewhat understanding for the writing projects but was mandatory to have the textbook for reading. He had given out writing projects that he couldn't grade on time. understandable, but the class was already expensive.
This was an online course, so interaction with the professor was fairly minimal. He has strict expectations of the requirements for his writing assignments and you will be marked severely for deviating from those, but after you learn that, then it is fairly easy to appease his requirements. Just be mind those requirements and you will be fine.
Professor Kip Knott was a tough grader but not unnecessarily so. English 2367 is meant to refine and improve your writing and I believe his methods did exactly that. At the end of the day, it is clear that he cares about the advancement and improvement of his students.
He was probably one of the worst professors Ive ever had. He doesnt respond to emails in a timely manner. I emailed him and didnt get a response for 2 weeks. He is rude in his emails, and doesnt help if you need it. 10000/10 dont recommend this professor.
I have no idea why this guy has bad ratings. Follow guidelines and you are almost guaranteed an A. Low work load, no weekly work, just some DBs. Don't bother buying a textbook, I never used it. I really liked this class. I had never written papers like these before, and I found the class to be interesting. Just follow the guidelines!
Didnt grade anything until the day grades were due. I worked my ass off in that course and didnt have any chance to learn or revise anything in the course. Horrible Professor. Came out with an 89%. Thanks a lot
Taken as an online class. Weekly discussion boards, as well as 4 papers, contribute to your overall grade. This class is listed as an intro to poetry but prior knowledge of writing and even an interest in writing are required to succeed. Kip Knott is a POET. Understand that the person grading your poems/papers is a poet who has published books.
3 writing projects, weekly discussion boards.
Professor Knott runs a tough but fair class. Writing projects are rigorous, but following guidelines closely leads to good grades. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for study prep.
The class wasn't easy by any means but it wasn't overly hard either. Professor Knott is very clear on what he is grading you on; if you really follow those requirements you're golden. Grades take some time to receive but the feedback he provides is worth the wait.
Not a hard class, just follow the criteria and utilize the writing center to help proofread / revise your work and you can pass the class.
You will be fine as long as you read the syllabus and do the work required. He is clear on what he wants and as long as you follow the directions you´re fine.
