Very clear in what you should know for the tests. Lectures are structured and organized, but lab tests are difficult. Helpful when confused.
exams are extremely difficult would not reccomend this teacher at all!!!
awesome,awesome,awesome... this class is awesome, the Prof. is awesome. I've never had this much fun in my Biology classes before getting her class. I highly recommend to take her class. She is clear on everything... I mean it when I say on everything. Have fun with her class...
Very smart, knows her stuff. Likes to trick you during tests, thats a little unfair. Grading scale off, 80% is a 2.6 ouch! overall good teacher but needs to understand where her students are and try to adapt, so everyones wins. overall gpa for class 0.8 really ouch!!
Very hard, clear during lecture but not about what's on the test. Trick questions. Extremely hard lab practicals (no post or pre labs, everything is based on tests and lab practicals and some X-C). Does not adjust to the class. Class averages really low, even for usually-4.0 students. Intensive dissection in lab, beware!
plan to study A LOT for this class.great knowledge, but sometimes hard to follow.lab practicals=that of anatomy class.Tricks you on tests and answers are VERY vague, so it's hard to tell what she wants from you.otherwise it's a good class, but rather hard.grading system pays off if your smart :)I loved the class.just study hard and you'll do good.
Was doing bad at first even though I studied the text. After meeting with her, she was very helpful in giving me tips to succeed in her class. Just focus on the Figures in the text and her lecture notes, but still read the book. After talking with her, I was able to pass the class with a B. Just gotta take her class very seriously.
extremely hard exams
Her lectures never finish in time because she goes into the greatest detail about insignificant things. She's nice out of class, but hardly helpful. I'd recommend finding another Anatomy teacher.
Nightmare! Success= motivation and hard, hard work, not rocket scientist brain. Countless hours studying for her lecture exams, can't seem to move past 2.0. Study guides don't reflect exams. Tricky exam questions, condescending attitude, lectures not organized, skips material, not making connections, abstract in presentation. Not a quality teacher.
She prides herself in making the course difficult. I tried countless times to meet with her for helpful studying hints and she just didn't want to help. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Can't stay on task during lectures & always goes over the alotted time frame. Lecture & lab or not inline with one another. Test are very confusing & tricky, if you don't write EXACTLY what she wants, it is wrong! She NOT approachable with questions. If you can take the class from another professor, DO IT!!
worst instructor i ever had! seems willing to help out, but not really - she gets irritated so easily... too much outside activities required which are not even extra credit-actually part of grade. i attended lecture only for part. point, but i learned from book. extremly hard exams, and bird songs! my GPA dropped 1.1 from 211 class...hate her!
I had her for Human Physiology and thought she was a great teacher. Pay attention in class, participate, think critically on exams, study hard and you'll do well. She is very available outside of class. My only complaint is that we ran out of time and the class voted to cut a little bit of material out. Earned a 4.0 and 94 percentile on PCAT bio.
Lectures interesting, low exam content. Objectives cover exams. Tests for minor details to prove you read text; however, you cannot do the exams without reading text. Available to meet, but low welcoming quality. Body language indicates ready to be done. Several students belittled by her. Overuses turning the question back on the student.
I was not impressed. I came out of almost every one of her tests thinking I had a B, and ended up failing all of her written exams. They aren't clear, they're very tricky, and when you visit her in office hours to get help, she gets defensive. If you can take another teacher, do it. I will not have to retake this class, Thanks Kira.
Brutal teacher. Seems to not enjoy her job or happy/enjoy teaching the material. She isnt helpful when you try and ask her serious questions and seams to find her enjoyment out of almost putting you as the student down.
She definitely knows what she is talking about but is BRUTALLY hard. I have never worked this hard in a class and I am coming out with a B. Only take this class if you are willing to work your hardest. READ THE BOOK and take notes on it! Take an hour or two every night to study. Not clear on what you need to know for tests. BOOK
Very hard teacher. Not only that, she is super mean. Very strict as well.. I regret the fact that I took her for Anatomy. Now it seems that its impossible to get a high grade in this class...
Nope. Don't do it. I know you're checking "ratemyprofessors.com" because you're thinking about taking Bio 212 at Shoreline, and she's the only one who teaches it. So you think, you'll rough it. How bad can one professor be? You'll even go to her office hour and find she's talkative, clear, and personable. But-- don't do it. Avoid her class!
Seriously- the exams are tricky. SHE IS VERY PARTICULAR.She's not welcoming at all during office hours. Made me cry once in lab, just for asking a question. Also accused a classmate of not taking the pre-requisites for the class because she called a "plasma membrane" of an animal cell a "cell wall." That was on the first day of class.
This teacher is the hardest teacher ive had. She is unwelcoming and rude. She is not willing to help you out and should reconsider her reasons for being a teacher. Teachers are supposed to help students learn. she doesn't do that.
I will never take anatomy with her. I've went to all review sessions, never missed a class, went to all scheduled labs, and even went to most of the open labs... I've worked so hard in this class, and yet I'm coming out with a B. My advise... do not take her class, if you want to get a good grade in anatomy.
Despite hearing horrible things about this teacher, she is the only professor teaching zoology at SCC. She is very rude, and will not answer any questions that she's asked, she will just say "look it up", telling her students that they have plenty of time to figure out the answers on our own! Just take the class at a different college, very upset!
Her assignments, tests, and grading policies are not unreasonable. Her teaching style in class is helpful and she offers guides to do well on the tests. She is not approachable though. Every time I asked her a question I left feeling like an idiot, and without an answer. Her replies were always "look it up." She talks down to students.
enjoyed her class
Her meticulousness has its pros and cons. The pros are that her exam Qs come from the learning objectives so you know exactly the material on the exam; the cons are that, um, she could work on interpersonal effectiveness. Her lectures are great but she is horrible talking to 1:1. Honestly, I think she's uncomfortable relating to others.
She's the worst professor I've ever seen in my lifetime. If you are truely interested in education or enrolling in nursing program, university or graduate school, never enter in her class. If she's the only professor instructing a class you are interested in, wait for the next quarter, or take the class in another college. She simply doesn't teach.
Dont ask/try to answer questions in this class. If it isnt word for word what she wants to hear, shell make you feel like a moron. She docks points for being a minute "late" to lab or lecture. A peer of mine drew a great resp flow diagram and she wouldnt accept it b/c it wasn't on a 3x5 card. annoying petty crap IMO...but still hurts the grades
Kira is a great teacher, of course her classes are hard they are supposed to be that way to weed people out. I recommend taking Kira if you are serious about school and want to further your career. If you want life to be easy find a different major!
Horrible professor. Very unapproachable and condescending in her responses. Has obvious esteem issues that are conveyed in her poor interpersonal skills. Very knowledgeable although anyone who cares about their gpa avoid her at all costs!!!! If a professor has more bad ratings than good SHE must be doing something wrong. Just go ask administration.
While taking the class I didnt like the teaching style-too overwhelming.BUT, in retrospect I can appreciate how organized and clear she was about course material. She is VERY picky about little points, but at least there are no mysteries. She is also probably the most knowledgable prof I've ever had...but she is very unapproachable. You can get an A.
Horrible proffesor!
Easiest 4.0 I've ever had. I had her for Bio231 as well. She was very organized and extremely goal-oriented which was nice coz it's like in the military. Tons of students hate her because she is challenging... but common guys, it ain't rocket science! Study the book well, and do well. Thanks to her, I practically aced my MCAT a last summer and I ju
AVOID! Take any other Anatomy teacher at SCC. Don't waste your money & time taking this class from her. 90% of her students end up retaking this course again; her class average is about a 2.8. She may be organized, but she's not approachable & can be very condescending. This is coming from a 4.0 student, who's taken hard science classes at the UW.
Rotten. Say goodbye to your GPA. She makes ppl cry in class for asking decent questions because she can be quite unclear at times. If u love nasty attitudes, ridiculous tests, and want to hate bio for the rest of your life go ahead. This teacher is a serious disrespect to the school and science discipline in general.
REDICULOUSLY RUDE teacher. Lecture exams are hard as hell(but getting 90s is still possble). Lab practicals are easy,,,study EVERYTHING on the goal list, u could get full score. That's the only way you can get a gd grade! And btw, 1 of the lecture exam, the highest score was only 37/45 and pretty much everybody else failed. Good luck!!!
Class is difficult due to the nature of the material. Professor gives students EVERY opportunity to succeed in the class and gain extra points, if you don't take advantage of that then your grade will suffer. Tests are difficult, but not impossible, her expectations are clear on her syllabus. Feeling very prepared for nursing school.
This class is difficult, and you'll have to study. Kira is mostly personable, but sometimes comes off as rude, so be prepared. It is possible to get an A though. Study the objectives, this is what the tests are based off of, and minor details mentioned in lecture (they will be on the test too!). Don't skip anything.
Study the objectives. Be prepared to work hard. Lots of material, but you get a notecard on the test.
Read the reviews, still took the class. I did well, but for all my time and effort, should have done better. Her tests were too comprehensive for the time given to take them and the quality of her lectures. One day it took 20 minutes to take a pop-quiz worth 1 point...ridiculous. Should take a break from the note cards to prepare a decent lecture.
JOKE!! This woman should not be teaching - she should be in an isolated lab somewhere. Zero people skills. I walked with a 1.6 after studying my ass off. Best thing I ever did is leave Shoreline. I went to a different school and got a 4.0 in both ANP 1 and 2. I would NEVER recommend her class. You will most likely regret it and waste your money.
Amazing teacher. REALLY wants you to learn. Clear objectives, MANY extra resources. Might seem abrupt, just wants you to think. Notecard on exam, ex cred throughout. SO unfair right?! Worked super hard in this class, didn?t have much of a life, but genuinely learned the material, instead of mindlessly memorizing it. Nothin? but love for Kira.
Totally possible to get an A in this class! It just takes more time than an average course. Study the learning objectives, those appear on the exams. Attend Open Labs. I never did, so I didn't get A's on my Practicals (lab exams). Your grade consists of 3 lecture exams, 3 Practicals (lab exams), a little of homework and participation points.
I agree with most of the statements here. She is definitely not an easy teacher to deal with, not good in the people skills department. I will say though that if you study off the objectives well, you will do well in the class, and also don't forget the notecard you can use on exams. It's really just a lot of memorization, organization is key.
WOW, this isn't a bad class to take but DO NOT take on line or with her. Has you do learning outcomes but what is on the quizzes do not match whats in the book. 40% from lecture 20% form the outcomes 40% ? 4.0 student until her class and not even passing w/2 hours of study a day q's are very vague! has you put in your words doesnt match quiz.
This professor is AMAZING. If you put in the time to come to all of her lectures and study her objective guidelines before the lecture and after, YOU WILL DO WELL. Do not expect to be spoon-fed a 4.0.
took the class ...very very hard to pass.
Kira is a hard professor, but is a great teacher. Just needs to change attitude towards students when they ask a "dumb" question according to her standards. It makes people not want to ask questions. She does not want you to fail, she just expects you to go a step beyond just memorizing and regurgitating the material. If you do, you will do great.
I try to select my professor based on the ratings on this site. This time, I decided to go against the student recommendations here and took this professor anyway. BAD IDEA! I regret it.
Human Anatomy: 231 spring 2011. Excellent professor. Extremely clear in her expectations for assignments and exams. The subject matter is tough; she helps guide you through what you absolutely need to know and what you don't. She's direct, open and honest. Read her syllabus, do your homework and you'll do fine.
Kira is a great teacher. If you have bad study habits/are a poor student you will fail her classes (college does weed-out the weak). If you want a class that will leave you feeling like you've learned something then you have to take a class. She is very, very helpful as long as you don't ask stupid questions. Beware her sarcasm too (I found it fun).
Avoid this class. She mocks and humiliates students. She wants you to use WIKIPEDIA to teach yourself, then you get tested on it. If you want to learn Animal Biology, take elsewhere. If you want to work extremely hard for an okay grade and no knowledge, take Kira's class.
Her lab practical is super duper easy if you follow the learning objective. Take advantage of that. Her lecture exam requires you to think hard, not memorize hard. You may not learn everything about zoology in her class, but you will learn the process to get answers yourself. I recommend her for anyone who would like to challenge themselves.
Great professor. She is clear, organized and very bright/knowledgeable. Occasionally impatient with students who are oblivious and under-prepared. This seems only natural for a teacher who works hard on her class and loves the material. The difficulty is right for a class of students who aspire to be doctors, engineers and biologists.
I survived A&P 241 and 242 with A+ and A-. So I'm not a lazy claimer, but I'm going to drop this class to protect my average GPA. If I'm taking A&P, then I won't complain, but a 100 level class shouldn't be so harshly graded. Yeah, she is very knowledgeable (she makes you call her "Dr"), but avoid her if you want to keep your good average GPA!
Took A LOT more time than expected to do assignments and study than expected but learned the material well. Be sure to attend the pre-test reviews. VERY interactive - More like a small real-world class than any other online class I've taken. She had regular office hours and got back right away with answers to questions.
Her class is rigorous. When you are done, you will understand zoology and learn about how science works as well. If you intend to go further in biological sciences, this is a great teacher. If you want an easy class, better go somewhere else.
Horrible teacher for anatomy. She is rude to hear students, condescending, and DOES NOT TEACH. When a student asks a question, she does not explain the answer but instead asks you more questions and expects you to memorize the whole book. She is by far the WORST PROFESSOR I have ever taken and I am a good student and did very well in the lecture.
This is one of the worst courses I've ever taken. The lectures are often sidetracked by pointless group worksheets, or by students asking questions which cause Kira to go off on a several minute tangent. The amount of work she requires students to do each work is absolutely unreasonable for a 5 credit course. AVOID TAKING HER COURSES AT ALL COST.
Regards all questions as stupid questions. "did you read the syllabus?"-18pgs. The material that she does cover in lecture is never on the exams. The exams require you to apply concepts she briefly goes over or concepts that she does not even bother to mention. Pop lecture and lab quizzes. Control freak. Save yourself. Required participation.
I should have taken the evening class that was offered. This was an extremely tough class and expectations were confusing. This class sucked all of the fun and enjoyment out of Biology. Perhaps her teaching style works great with a particular learning style - not mine.
I could get A's on the homework, then flop a quiz, because the weekly reading/assignments NEVER covered what was required to know for the subsequent quiz. Students complained throughout the quarter, because we felt "lost" and confused with the weekly material. Dr. Wennstrom seemed to have a short fuse, and very impatient with questions or concerns.
The class itself is tough, and it doesn't help when the teacher is not helpful. While Wennstrom provides a lot of information on Canvas, about little of it is actually helpful. In lab/class she's rather rude, and when you ask her something she would snap back about "how she doesn't understand" the question. Wouldn't recommend her due to arrogance.
Super tough exams. She said we can use learning objective as guideline for exams, but the LOs do not cover all the material that she will test. Making the reviews of exams so hard.
Expectations are unclear; LOs don't completely reflect test material; she is rather unhelpful and aggressive; ridiculous participation point system; horrible group project with no real guidance; lab can be fun, pretty self-guided, and is more straightforward, but lecture and tests are absolutely awful. It's no wonder when 1/2 + of a class drops.
The structure of the class is WAY more outside work than necessary! Lecture is reasonable- you read facts, she gives concepts. Labs take a LOT to get ready for if you want to do well on practicals. Need outside class activities to get participation points and also a group project! Work that should be done in class goes beyond the time in class.
You will learn a lot, but even for hardworking/motivated students I don't think it's possible to get 3.0, which she seems to think is excellent. If your GPA matters to you take this at another school. Hard work and low(B) grades made me work harder, but she's insanely regimented and I think mildly autistic. Grades strictly by rubric, which is nice
If you want to pass the class, I mean PASS with a good looking grade, try your best to do your academic plan ahead of time to avoid taking her class. Or even take this course at a different institution. She has a really high expectation for her student and she wants her students to work extremely hard during the quarter. Even earn the participation
Good professor but hard class. I took her for Biology 212 and she was lowkey extra. Unless you're really into animal biology, you might want to take another professor. I felt like I was getting my PhD in developmental biology at times. All in all, she was a good teacher, but you're going to have to work hard and read a lot outside of class to 4.0
If you are a premedical student and you care about your education and GPA, avoid this professor. She is more of bird biologist than an actual animal biologist. She gives excessive amounts of materials that are not unuseful during tests that very tricky. She is not very helpful in during office hrs and does not take the time to help.
I took Bio212 with Prof. Wennstrom and it turns out to be my worst lecturing experience ever. Pop quizzes are popped through all the time so it requires fully prepare for pre-reading. Exams grading are very tough and pro-deduct. Powerpoint takes the most part of lecture, they are more pictures than sentence. This class was Bio400 instead of Bio212.
As a UW student, this class was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. The amount of work you are expected to put in this class is much more than at any other CC and even most UW classes. This class requires a ridiculous amount of memorization and if you're not willing to spend hours memorizing you're out of luck. 10/10 recommend on taking
Does not lecture at all and easily irritated if you dont understand things. Arrogant and makes you call her Dr. Expects you to teach yourself through reading, tests you for points before class, and then gives pop quizzes for points before ever having a chance to ask questions, which she may not answer. Grading is extremely subjective and unclear.
Tough grader Tough exams 1 or two popquizes a week lots of homework avoid her class
This is by far one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. And not hard in a good way. Professor is unreasonable and extremely subjective in her grading. Tests are all fill in and short answer. Flipped class style but does not actually teach or lecture AT ALL which is not good for this type of material. Does not really answer questions. Horrid
You have to do a ridiculous amount of work and it won't even matter because she will nitpick you to oblivion on the exams. You probably will barely get a 70% even if you study 5 hours a night. She expects you to have the same level of knowledge she does on tests.
best professor I have ever had. The lectures are well organized. The labs are easy. The exam can be challenging but she gave many partial credits.
Dr. Wennstrom's online anatomy and physiology class was the most difficult class I have ever taken. This class made me feel utterly incompetent. She was very harsh on grading and you never knew what to expect on the tests. We would be told to read and memorize whole chapters and then not even use a quarter of what we read on her tests.
If you want to pass just avoid her classes. She is terrible. She makes the pop quizzes a pass or fail. You have to get 4 out of 5 possible points and this is hard because most questions will have two points and if you miss that, you simply get a zero. She is pathetic at explaining things.
Spent a lot of time discussing how to study and ran out of time to lecture on material required to know. Random pass/fail pop quizzes. I only passed with an A because I have taken other A&P courses in the past. She has favorites, if you do not ask her question or challenge her authority. Assigns HW, quizzes on HW then tells us what we did wrong.
I really respect all the hard work of any teacher, but this teacher does not teach in class. Her style of teaching is to let the students find out answers on their own, and when a student is confused she will ask many question but she won't tell if the answer is right or wrong. That is hard for some students that are in the process of learning.
50% weighted on quizzes, which are so excessively comprehensive with only 30 minutes to answer 21-22 questions. Two short answer, most of the rest are fill in blank. Dont take this class with this professor unless you really really want to stretch your limits and stress over a weekly quiz that will most certainly spell doom for your grade.
BY FAR the hardest class I have ever taken, but I have never learned so much. Very clear expectations of what you need to know/do. Exams are conceptual, don't expect to pass by memorizing. Patient with slow learners & truly cares about your success. If you put in the work, you will be the smartest pre-med student. 2nd time taking her & I'm happy.
First and last time taking a class of her's. She has a bad rep around campus and there's a reason for that- she's tough. A few kids in my class dropped out and there were barely any students to begin with... No one wanted her because she's a TOUGH grader and is not helpful even in office hours. Her tests are hard to understand and she has no mercy.
She is the hardest professor I've ever taken and will never take her class again. The tests are difficult and use the information taught in class in a way that students shouldn't know how to use. She is rude, called me dumb, and doesn't care if you pass. Office hours are a time to be humiliated unless you fully know the info you're asking about.
Her lectures are structured well, but we never seemed to get through all of the material. The lecture exams are difficult and conceptual, while the lab exams are fairly easy and rely on memorization and good preparation. If you thoroughly read and take notes on the lecture material before class, you will do fine.
Dr. Wennstrom was an excellent Professor for bio212. Her love of bio and teaching shows in lecture. Science courses in general require a lot of work and this is class is no expectation, but she makes up for it by dropping your lowest exam score and having a more generous grading scheme. If you are proactive and ask for help she is easy to talk to.
It was really hard to keep up in her class. She never answered your questions straight out and would make it more confusing. Sometimes she would belittle someones question or wrong answer.
The lectures were very informative and you could easily get the homework done. The practical exams were okay but she doesn't give a lot of time to work on them, 35 minutes for 50 questions, could do better with an extra 5 minutes. The lecture exams however seemed like they deviate from what was being taught, it did not give me confidence.
She is not an easy class, but she gives you everything you need to succeed. You just have to put the hard work in to get there, which is a lot but its beneficial. You also have to be proactive and go to her if you have questions, but she is easy to access outside of the classroom and happy to help.
Class exams deviated quite a bit from what was taught in class. She also graded harshly on pre-lecture assignments.
The worst teacher I have here. A 5credit class includes grp project, lab, discussion ,and lecture. Way too much. Also, have to do stupid thing to earn participation point., if no ur grade drop as hell. Exams are so hard, not enough time for lab exam. Definitely ruin your gpa. The first lecture assignment due on the first day of school.
This class its one of the worst class Ive ever taken. The lectures dont explain anything, the test are complicated and not enough time is given also there is a lot of work and it doesnt help your grade at all.
If her class is the only option you have in the quarter, just forget about her, skipping that quarter if you do not want to fail the class!!!!!!!!!
She is a very tough grader. You will need to read a lot because her lectures were not very helpful. Her exams are complicated to understand. Once you failed the first and the second exam, she will drop the lowest one but you still fail because the exam curve is so high. Wait for another professor!
Resources are all over the place, assignments are submitted on multiple platforms. There is an expectation that you should know everything going into lectures. This class has a ton of busy work, each week reading for 2 chapters + lecture prep and worksheet, lab, group project, unit discussion and participation
Super hard class, trick questions on all the quizzes. Nothing was ever good enough. Worked super hard and still was always docked points. She has a final exam on all the chapters done in the class. Almost impossible to remember all of it. It was a online class and lectures were boring. She flunked me by 1%.
Professor is very smart however, she is teaching way above A&P 1 and expects you to know everything she knows. This is a tough class in general, but I would wait for other professors to become available if you want to pass with an A or are pursuing the healthcare field. Quizzes give 35 minutes to answer 50 questions. Pretty tough.
Basically, all of the busy work she assigns is pointless. 70% of your grade comes from lecture and lab exams. Therefore you can work your hardest all all the assignments, but it's really only the tests that matter. Yes, she drops your lowest scores but you basically need to get all of the points to at least get a 2.0. Please wait for another prof.
PLEASE WAIT FOR A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR! I took her online class and man did I die. In this class, you have 4 exams, 2 lab practicals, 3+ assignments a week, and a group project. This class is extremely time-consuming! Please try to make friends and do homework together. B/C this class is extremely challenging. TBH it felt like a level 400 class :(
I wouldn't recommend taking this class to anyone who cares about their mental health. It is time-consuming, exhausting, and soul-crushing. It is simply not worth it. Please wait for another professor.
BIO 242 Nothing is ever straightforward in this class. You ask a question and you'll likely get a non-answer. The "lectures" are 5 minutes max then it's on us to read/google to figure out what we need to know. Insane amount of busywork even during exams. I spent the last 11 weeks teaching myself. If you value your sanity, wait for another prof.
After this class I've never had such a bad experience with a teacher. There was so much busy work and there was never any straightforward answers to questions. did most studying based off the LOs but still didn't feel prepared for exams. Shes very smart but trying to teach way above entry level please wait for another professor if possible.
Her canvas page is very disorganised and confusing with pages and pages of meaningless information. Lectures are called "mini lectures" and are only 5 min each. All textbook and googling to learn. Can sometimes answer questions in very frustrated tones and made me feel bad. I would not recommend this professor to anyone looking to take BIOL 241.
I have never encountered a teacher that is so lousy and HORRIBLY poor at teaching. You pay your hard earned cash to learn this class on your own. Don't expect clear help, mini lectures are a joke, no study guide. Class is a joke & she's condescending to students with questions. Don't waste money, health & time. She needs to rethink teaching.
I love her as a person. I hate this class. One of the hardest classes I have ever taken. 70 percent of this class is exams. Even if you get 100% on everything you still fail miserably. Poor instructions on what we need to know. Overall would not take again.
Worst professor you could ever take. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. She doesn't even know the answers to her own exam questions along with that for practical she will point to a group of things and expect you to read her mind on which thing she wants you to identify out of them. If you are looking to fail ap1 i recommend Kira.
This class is challenging, but with hard work and using resources like unstuck AI, you can succeed. The professor expects a lot, but provides clear guidance. Attend every class and be proactive - office hours help a lot.
This class was extremely difficult. No lectures are made throughout the class - only short minute clips explaining few topics. We had 2 exams on one day this quarter which was extremely unfair. I felt like we were left to learn and do everything ourselves. This class lacked immense guidance, support, and grace. Half of my class dropped
Fixed mindset, does not respect diverse learning styles. Spends more time grandstanding about how students should learn than actually teaching the material. Narcissism completely overshadows any kind of instructional skills. Should not be teaching.
She uses outdated grading methods. Her APA format is never up to date and she'd deduct points for the most flimsy reasons . You can never work hard enough. Her class is designed to fail students. I do not recommend.
I enjoyed this class. However, I would only recommend you take this course if you have the time and motivation to read the textbook, dedicate time to practicing the material, and aren't afraid to attend office hours to ask questions if needed. 5-10 hours of studying outside class per week. You will learn a lot from this class, but it is NOT easy.
We started out with 23 students, by the end of the quarter there were only 9. There's only 1 class day that goes over both lecture and lab material. lecture and lab exams are worth 80% of the grade, which I think is super heavy, considering how much information we go over and you basically are teaching yourself.
She is very clear about her expectations. She utilizes data from submitted homework assignments online to tailor her classroom lecture time. She has generous office hours. She encourages independent thinking and helps guide you to answers instead of just telling you the answer. She is fun, understanding, punny, and I learned a ton from her!
