Nice lady, kind of confusing lectures, she jumps around a lot, but thankfully the tests are pretty easy.
Great class. Pay attention or she WILL give incorrect information to keep you on your toes. I'd recommend a having good grasp of dimesional analysis before taking this class. She likes to have you do alot of converting before you get the info in the units you need to do a problem. Nice lady and very helpful.
Very helpful, she explains everything and is willing to go over things as muh as you need. Very nice, likes class participation. Jumps around a bit in lecture but you get all the info. Her tests are on exactly what she lectures, no surprises.
In her defense I took this class in summer school after not having any chemistry since before handheld scientific calculators were invented, but I hated this class. There was WAY too much info crammed into a short session. Usually summer sessions trim it down, but not hers! There wasn't enough time to absorb concepts and she didn't explain things
Chemistry is such a tough subject,no matter some people find everythin hard she really takes time to help and make chemistry easy and fun.
Good teacher, she stops to explain if things dont seem clear. Problem is, some pople just never get things, so she's slowing down to a crawl when 99% of the class is bored out of their minds. Not her fault, just a nice lady that wants everyone to understand.
Great teacher that teaches on a level that everyone can understand. She is worth the "chili pepper icon" more than any other teacher I have ever had. An assest to Solano college.
This class is difficult. A lot of the class was not able to finish tests in the amount of time given. Prof. Kaur tries her best to cover the material but there was never enough time. I had to depend on the book to teach me. Study hard, there is no credit for homework but do it or you will not do well on the tests. A lot of memorization!!!
She was very unhelpful when i asked questions and had a roundabout way of explaining things. Before her class, I did very well in science areas, I have never gotten lower than an A.
Nice lady, very helpful. Takes time and effort to explain things.
Kaur is a very good teacher and very thorough. If you don't get something she is more than willing to work with you until you understand the material. I highly recommend her.
Her lectures are sometimes tedious; she will absolutely beat a subject to death. Very boring sometimes. Very easy class, just do some of the practice problems so that you'll ace the quizzes. (very funny accent too, all of her w's are pronounced like v's).
Prof.K is such a sweet teacher.. at high skool i used 2 hate chem but after takin her i changed my mind .. she is sooooooo damn easy and helpful i really respect her and if she was teaching chem1 this sem i would take her so if u wana understand chem take her I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER
Great teacher for chem 160. Give lots of work but helps weigh out test scores. Gives many resources to facilitate study, promptly replies to e-mails, is available at office hours and is very understanding. Keep up with the hwk q's, turn in assignments, study, study, study.

great teacher, very helpful. makes chemistry interesting
Do not take with her. if u wonna take this class the best teacher ever for that is Mr.higashi
Warning if you have other classes, I would stay away from Kaur. She gives a lot of work in too little time. Half of the stuff on her quizzes does not even show up on her test. I would take someone else for chem.
I got a C in class and my overall GPA is 3.7 what does that tell you. She has a language barrier. One thing that got me was if there was a test coming up on chp. 6, 7, and 8 you would be going over chp 9,10 and 11 before that test. And FYI she told the class that she checks this site. so she may have wrote some of the positive feedback on herself.
Kiran Kaur is a very good Teacher for Chem160. All of her test is base on the Quiz. She take Questions on the quiz and put it on the test. Highly Recommend for Chem160. Really easy just got to do a little bit of studying.
miss kaur was great! she gives alot of work but she dam there gives you the answers to all the labs and homework. if you do the work you will definitly pass. she gives you at least 2 take home quizes and lets you correct your test at home if the class does terrible on it...just one exam tho. but i got a b in the class.
Kaur is very helpful and dedicated to her subject. She has over 5 hours a week in office hours and will talk after class (I didn?t need either; I attended class). To the previous posting that got a C with a 3.7 GPA, well i have a 3.0 and had never takin any chem and only needed a 30% on the final to get an A (my overall grade was higher than 97%).
Prof Kaur is a great teacher! She is very helpful and always available to make time for her students. She covers alot of material and goes quickly but if you show up and do the work you will do well. Highly recommend! Awesome class!
Very helpful. Plenty of office hours if you ever had a question. Great Teacher!!!
Avogadro be praised! Professor Kaur is awesome! She made the class so fun, and she wants to see all her students succeed. While it's not rocket science it can be challenging so make sure you study. There is a healthy workload but very doable (and the HW points help to buffer test scores) so do all the work, go to class, and study, you'll be fine!
Really helpful in class. I would recommened her to everybody. Great teacher...
Horrible teacher. Good person, but terrible terrible teacher. She works at a very fast pace and doesn't give you enough time to even ask questions. If you want to understand chemistry don't take this class, if you want chemistry jammed down your throat..this class is for you.
I hate her. She does not grade very fairly and her grading system is very poor. Late work is not accepted. She makes her test and quizzes very tricky so she can fail everyone. In my class, more than half the class got a C or below.
I do not like her ! She gives out too much work and online work that you'll prolly forget ! WE HAVE OUR OWN LIVES ! JOBS, FAMILY, ETC. She is always tricky on her test and grades very unfairly ! How the way she grades is not accurate.
Super helpful, and doesn't mind answering questions. Really wants you to pass. Gives practice tests and sometimes even practice quizzes. She's really fair and doesn't put anything unexpected on tests. The work she gives is nesscary to understand the material.Take Her!
Good teacher but I do not like her style. I like to figure things out for myself and ask questions if I can't. She spoon feeds everything to you. She goes over the material very fast, so you need to print out the power points that she uses. Avoid her if you don't like chemistry forced down your throat.
I really enjoy taking Chem 2 with her, i wanted to take it with higashi since i had him for chem 1 but she was MUCH BETTER!! she actually wants you to succeed! I would reccomend her for chem2. The practice exams helped alot and the quizes prepare you for the test and the test helped ALOT for the final
She is a really good teacher that know her ish. I'm a biochem major and I would love to have more teachers like her. She has clear expectations and they are not too hard to make. Dont get behind or youll fall way behind and won' be able to catch up. Her lecture are sometimes fast but you can just go home and download the lecture offline. Good luck!
She was a good teacher however she gave alot of quizes with no makeups. So if you missed a day or two your grade would drop dramatically. She requires you to print out the notes and all her powerpoints are posted on her website.
I took chem 160, passed, but I was completly lost! I had Mrs. Kaur for chem 10 and it was crazy how I suddenly understood everything! chemistry is a hard class in general but she was very nice and helpful, limited homework-mostly just labs. I definetly reccomend her, you'd be insane to pick another teacher!
Even though Chem is a hard subject, she made it easy to understand. Has notes for u to print out so you just focus on learning rather than trying to write everything. Very clear. Recommend you go to class every time and follow up with book. She really cares about her students and wants you to succeed. Recommend her for chem 2! Great teacher
Lots of quizzes, studying, memory work. Labs are confusing because teacher changes from book. Need more time for test since you have to work out the multi choice ?'s. Language barrier. Teacher show's up late to class all the time. Can use old editions of book and lab manual i did and it was OK. She explains things way to fast and needs to slow down.
Very easy and helpful teacher. She is much better than Santiago and WANTS you to succeed. She's a gift to the university.
Uses info from the book, but puts it into her own notes. Just print out notes and study them for the quizes and exams. As long as you memorize what youre supposed to you'll do good. Has a very slight accent with certain words, but otherwise speaks clear English. She does talk fast--review notes before class and following her lecture will be easy
Only need book if you don't understand something on her notes(which only happened to me a couple of times--or you can ask her for help in her office). Just print out her notes. Power point lectures are also online. Online homework to do. Premade notes makes it easier, but you still need to study them to do well on the quizzes/exams. Dont skip labs.
She wasn't a helpful professor at all. Lots of quizzes and connect homework. It was very overwhelming. Also, she would get frustrated when we asked her questions regarding the lectures we did.
I LOVE PROF KIRAN. She is everything you could ask for in a professor and more. She has a heavy accent but she is not that hard to understand. Her workload is resonable and she cares about her students. She is very nice and leinient. I learned more than I expected to in her class. There is ALOT of memorizing formulas and constants though.
Loved Kaur! I took 160 with a male teacher and failed. I took it again with Kaur and passed with an A! Kaur makes chemistry so much easier to understand. Have to study everyday and lots of memorizing. I suggest buying the students solutions manual she recommends for help at home when your studying. Otherwise she is very clear on the material.
BEST CHEM TEACHER EVER. She is so pro-active with her students and classes. She goes above and beyond to provide her students with accurate study materials. She genuinely wants her students to succeed. I highly reccommend her. Chemistry is never going to be an "easy" course... but she makes it very clear and helpful. Attendance is a must.
Kaur wants students to memorize everything for exams. She does allow four formulas to go up on the white board but that is about it. Only on the final can you have a note card with notes. She moves too fast through lectures, probably because all her notes on powerpoint. Quizzes are very much like the exams. Too much homework and boring
Professor Kaur is such an amazing professor! She is kind and really wants you to succeed and know Chemistry! Take her she is the nicest Chem professor I know or have met! Took 160 got an A and I am currently taking Chem 2 with her as I type this. Awesome professor! :)
Kaur wants students to memorize everything for exams and quizzes, she says if she needs to know it so do we. Its a HARD class at least it was for me. She is a good teacher but she requires too much. at times feels too rushed so i think it depends on how you like to learn.
Professor Kuar is a great teacher! She gives little homework but her exams can be on the hard side. Although I felt like certain sections were rushed, she explains things pretty well! Start studying nomenclature early because this section seemed to affect students in my class the most along with balancing equations and stoichiometry.
Professor Kaur is great!! I had never taken a chemistry class prior to her class and I finished with an A. She gives you all the info you need for success on the exams, she is very knowledgeable and explains things so that they are easy to understand. Would recommend her to anyone!
She was hard to understand. She wasn't very helpful, though she would answer questions after class or during office hours. She was a very hard grader and had hard tests. Be prepared to study a lot. The labs didn't really help with the class.
You will earn whatever grade you get. She is a great lecturer, great instructor but she does not hand out A's and B's like candy. She gives you all the tools you need, but you will need to spend some of your time outside of class studying on your own. Even though I struggled to earn my B, I would take any future class I could with her again!!
Explains everything in great detail. Very helpful. Will answer all the questions you have. Study guides and practice questions have the same format as those on the exams- the only difference is pretty much the numbers given. Wonderful in both lectures and labs. Makes you feel comfortable in the class. Will help you succeed. Very beneficial teacher!
I hate chemistry , all science with a passion . Professor Kaur made chemistry a great experience for me . She is the BEST chemistry teacher . Very helpful , understanding , and funny .
As with any chemistry if you don't apply yourself you wont pass. Kaur is a wonderful professor. Very good lectures. Tests are hard but she gives you all the information you need to study. Study and you will pass. Taking her next semester for CHEM 010
Professor Kaur taught the lab portion of my class. She is AMAZING. Whatever we didn't understand from lecture, she took us step by step through it and made sure we understood it. I wish I had her for lecture too.
Great professor, she is the reason I changed my major to Chemistry. Very clear and will explain criteria multiple times. Really cares about her students
Personality, she has miles of it. She has a lot of clever little stories to teach you memorization. Super helpful, makes chemistry and I feel ready for Chem 001, wish I could take her. Super fun class and very fair grader. She is tough, but you can pass with an A because with Chem you have labs and other things that help boost your grade.
Professor Kaur is one of the best teachers i've had. Although she has an accident, what she expects from her students is very clear. She teaches what is going to be on her quizzes and exams, no surprises. Going to lab is very important. If you do your work and study you will pass her class. Don't be afraid to ask for help. She is very helpful!
Really great teacher
Professor Kaur is by far the best Chem teacher at Solano. She is extremely caring and goes out of her way to make sure you fully understand the material. Hard class because of the homework, online homework, tough quizzes/tests. But other than that I have nothing bad to say about her she was an absolutely wonderful professor. I wish she taught chem3
Professor Kaur is by far one of my favorite professors at Solano. She makes what is expected of her students very clear and will really work with her students. The labs were some of my favorite parts of this class. Be prepared to work for your grade in this class, but it is all very rewarding. I would definitely take her class again!
Her teaching began in k-12 and it shows in the best way possible. She helps to make the material interesting and helps out all the students learn who are having difficulty. Sadly Chem 160 was somewhat new to many so its not an easy course as is, but I can't think of a better teacher to help understand the material.
Definitely one of the nicest professors I've met at Solano. Totally willing to work with you if a problem comes up, pretty forgiving grading policy if you have one bad exam. Lab can be a little long but you're typically busy so it goes by quick. Course isn't easy but if you pay attention to the lectures and do the practice exams it's manageable.
Highly recommend taking Prof Kaur. She is super kind and fair. What she covers in lecture is what you see on the tests, she'll even stress on something hoping that you will get the hint that we will be testing on it. Not a class you can miss and expect a good grade, study for the quizzes they are though. She is always willing to help!
Professor Kaur genuinely cares for her students. Her lecture PowerPoint presentations are spot on with the notes she provides on her teacherweb site. She explains chemistry in a way anyone can understand it. She utilizes memorization tools such as mnemonics and acronyms, and also recommends YouTube channels to aid in understanding the material.
She is great. Very helpful and clear. Sometimes she will go to fast in lecture but if you ask her to slow down or repeat herself. She will.
BEST Chem professor HANDS DOWN. I would suggest taking her for ANY chem class she offers. Took her for both Chem 10 and Chem 02 and I passed her class! She really knows her stuff! I suggest you study the discussions gives and the notes you print out because those are basically on the test. Do hw to get a boost in grade!!
Professor Kaur is by far the best professor I have ever taken at Solano. Let me start by saying THIS IS A VERY HARD CLASS. Chemistry is not an easy subject and you will have to work for your grade in this class. Lectures are long and it can be a lot of information to process some times, but as long as you study you should be fine.
She is very clear with her lectures and will take time to clarify anything. Also, she ensures the whole class is following what she is teaching. The book is not required, but I would recommend it to get in some more practice in certain sections to really up your grade. I would absolutely take her class again if given the opportunity.
Best teacher by far. She really makes you love chemistry, but you have to study for it. She gives extra credit at the end of the semester to push your up a little. She also give extra credit on sapling. I had an 88 percent before the finals. After everything I was at 94%. Pretty cool professor. I really recommend her.
Professor Kaur gives a ridiculous amount of work both in and out of class. You'll start the semester feeling like you can handle things, but the work load increases over time until you're literally drowning in Chemistry. Don't take other heavy courses if you're taking Kaur. It's a five unit course and you need to dedicate roughly 15hrs/week to pass
Kiran is awesome! Chemistry is a difficult course regardless of the instructor, but Kiran makes chemistry understandable and loves to help her students succeed. There are 4 exams + the final (5 exams total) and she gives extra credit for Sapling HW, clicker quizzes, etc. Her handouts are great! I never even opened the textbook. Highly recommend!
She really explains things if you don't understand, but sometimes she adds a ton of stuff that you don't need. It's funny, because if you need to remember CUP, it's kinda like, "Remember, Camels Understand Psychology" And you're just like (to yourself) "Can't I just remember cup?" Anyway, cool professor, nice, cares about people understanding.
She's so sweet and makes everything easy to understand! She's flexible with her schedule if you want to retake tests or need help, makes study guides that will actually be on the test, MANY EXTRA CREDIT, and attendance isn't mandatory unless it's on lab days! Be warned to not buy the textbooks since we didn't touch it AT ALL.
she is a good teacher , chemistry is not easy , but she explaines every thing
You have to attend the labs study a lot
Professor Kaur is a great person and wants to see all her students pass. Her lectures are very clear as she makes sure that everyone is following the material. Her office hours are very accessible so it's easy to find her. She gave a few extra credit options and there was a Jelly Belly Field Trip. FUN. Attendance is key!
Professor Kaur is hands down the best chemistry professor I have taken so far. She takes the time to ensure that all of her students understand the material. She has notes already for you to print out for each chapter and has practice problems similar to the exam problems.
Prof. Kaur is an excellent instructor. She cares about her students because she provides great notes per chapter that are printable for students. She's willing to help you all the time. Take her and you will love her. Be sure to review her practice tests because it helps a lot.
She is very passionate about teaching, willing to help when you ask, makes sure the class understands before moving on. The more you participate in her class the more you learn. AWESOME professor! I wish she taught organic Chem as well.
I enjoyed Professor Kiran Kaur's class. Her lectures are straight to the point. She gives additional notes so I recommend reading that before class. Also, if you read the textbook and do the problems in the lab book, you are good. Her grading is very fair and even let us have a note card for the final.
Professor Kaur is by far the best chemistry teacher @ SCC. She has her students best interest and will do anything to make sure her students understand the material. This class is difficult, but if you show up and put forth the effort you will definitely pass. Take prof Kaur and I promise you will not regret it!
This professor was extremely nice and she made the class extremely easy. Our exams were so easy and she gave extra credit at the end. Many people would get over 100% on the exams. If I had taken any other chem 2 professor it would have been harder. Easiest and best chem 2 professor at Solano. Want an easy A take her.
Professor Kaur is a great teacher. Chemistry is a difficult subject yet she presents the information clearly and only lectures on stuff you need to know. She has printed lecture notes for each chapter. I also liked how there was hw for this class so its not just exams that make your grade. Highly recommend!
Professor Kaur is the best chem professor I'd ever had in Solano because she makes chemistry look easy when she teaches it. However, you're going to have to work for an A in this class, but my best advice would be practicing her lecture, dry lab, quizzes, and sapling over and over before her exams. Also, go to class every day!
Professor Kaur is super sweet. She really explains the material clear and concise. But STUDYING IS KEY. If you don't study everything then you're screwed. Lecture isn't mandatory to go to but you will miss a lot of you don't show up.
hidden fees. generous w/pnts. lots of HW, but worth the pnts. stay on top of HW/assig. gives partial credit on exams and quizzes. constantly practice doing work problems from the lecture and textbook and take notes as she requests. a lot of work, but it's not super hard. Better than a lot of other chem professors I've had. Gives hella extra credit.
Professor Kaur is amazing. The class is so much fun and so easy. Anyone could take her chem 2 and pass. I didnt study a single day and only showed up when I had to. This class is the easiest A I have ever gotten. So much extra credit that its ridiculous. If you cant pass her chem 2 class I would ch age my major.
Professor Kaur is a kind woman who is, no doubt, highly intelligent. However, Chem 2 was the HARDEST class I have every taken. The typical average for tests were a C or lower. This class made me rethink my major. I was unhappy and stressed most days. Professor Kaur is better than most, but the class is VERY hard none the less.
Loved her! she is so knowledgable and will prepare you for your next chem class. She is brilliant. I learned that she became a teacher because she wanted to find ways for students to actually understand the material. she has done exactly that! she brakes difficult things down an makes it so simple. a true GEM at Solano. we need more like her!
This class was PAINFULLY easy. I have never been in science class that gave so much extra credit. Truly the easiest course I have ever taken. Kiran is so sweet and really cares for her students. Her teaching is so easy to follow. I never opened the textbook once the entire semester. I wish she taught all my classes. TAKE HER
Best professor for chemistry! I took her a few years ago and still remember chemistry from what she taught me. She teaches very clear and explains the material really well and cares that you do well so is happy to help you. I learned to like chemistry from her teaching because she helped me actually learn it. You have to study and work but take her
She is by far the easiest chem professor at solano. Definitely take her because she is super nice and gives so much extra credit it is almost impossible to not succeed in the class.
I just love professor Kaur, I believe even without the extra credit. She is a BRILLIANT TEACHER. But the extra credit is an added bonus she understands that a lot of kids don't do well under pressure. It is not always due to the lack of understanding but the rush of time. But the MAJORITY of my class understood the material an did WELL!
Prof. Kaur teaches chemistry beautifully! She explains complex concepts in the simplest way possible. Very caring and provides various extra credit opportunities. This class definitely requires a ton of studying. Would 100% take chemistry with her again!!
Professor Kaur was one of the best teachers I have ever had. There were many opportunities for extra credit and she did whatever she could to help her students. A very loving and caring teacher who genuinely cares about her students.
Professor Kaur is one of the most caring professors I have ever had. She made chemistry easy to understand and made me actually like the subject! I 100% recommend her she cares so much for her students and is rooting for them to succeed. Even through COVID she made sure we were all on track!
I took professor Kaur for two Chem classes, and had never taken a Chemistry class prior. Her expectations are very clear, and she makes the material very easy. She cares about her students and through transferring our class online during COVID she constantly made herself available to students for any questions. I highly recommend taking her class
I took this class online during the summer. Although it was fast pace, Prof Kaur did an amazing job teaching my classmates and I everything we needed to know in order to succeed in the class. Prof Kaur was always available during her office hours to break things down in a way I can understand because I struggled with math. Look no further!
I dropped this class after one week because it was a total nightmare and I knew I could find a better chem class/teacher (and I did). The lecture went on for 3 hours straight with zero breaks. I had to miss information to run to the bathroom. He uses a digital blackboard and it's a total mess to look at. He literally writes over other things.
I'm a high school student, I needed a good chem class and this was definitely it. It's not the easiest thing in the world but as long as you show up and pay attention and do the homework you'll be pretty good. Most people in the class got good grades. I took it online so I don't know how difficult it would be in person, the labs would be better tho
An aaaamazing teacher!! She is very helpful, great at lecturing! I will say that if you do not have a good work ethic, her class is not for you. Its very easy to get a B or C in the course but you have to work for your A! Your grade is reliant on many things not just tests. Would recommend for Chem 002
I took her class as a refresher after not taking chemistry since high school. The lectures can move quickly at times but she records all lectures so you can watch again later. She is happy to answer questions during class, was quick to respond to email questions, and was overall helpful and nice. Would take her again!
Shes a very good professor, she also really clear about lecturing the notes for every chapter. You dont need to attend her zoom meetings because she records them and you can rewatch them over and over again. You also have to work hard to get an A for her class. The professor herself is not hard but rather the subject itself is hard! Take her!!
Insanely great professor! By far the best professor I've had so far, especially in the science department. She interacts with her students so well and makes sure everyone understands the topic. Her lectures were recorded so showing up was not required. She assigned homework that was almost always done in class with your group. Caring and helpful.
One of the best professors I've encountered at SCC. She was very nice and patient when addressing my questions in class. She made us work in lab groups, labs were interesting, too bad they were not in person. Tests are tough! they are not easy tests so study diligently. Study with a group of people if you can. A lot of material is covered.
Best chem teacher you could possibly have. I wish she taught chem 3. She makes the criteria so easy and understandable. She cares about all her students and wants everyone to succeed. Please take.
Awful, don't take. Expects this to be your number 1 priority in life. Expects you to be nothing else with your time.
Prof is fantastic as a person but to be honest she expects A LOT be prepared to spend hours every day and that still may not be enough. Her online class may have been easier but her in person is horrible. The "lab" time is spent doing more lecture and more problems. Very few experiments. Lessons only cover a fraction of what is on the exams. GL
Loved this class!! Professor Kaur made certain that her students were caught up and also made sure we knew the material. Chemistry alone is hard but the studying everyday was worth it and made it much easier!
Prof Kaur's class is a great environment with fun labs and a lot of material review. You are expected to spend many hours reviewing for tests and completing assignments/notes. If you stay on schedule with lectures/assignments and attend office hours when help is needed you will pass easily. It is a hard class but Prof Kaur is super helpful!
Prof Kaur is very funny, caring, gives tips+fun mnemonics - I struggled w/ basic Chem1 stuff (took it 2 years ago), but she explained concisely, Hybrid, take good PHYSICAL notes+flashcards, test word problems (50% of each test) similar to practice/dry lab, work on math skills, don't slack during start of semester as the pace+material picks up soon
I took Ms.Kaur in the summer of 2022, very thorough with the material provides additional links to other videos to help understand. great with communication when needed. A great professor obviously you are required to study alot to be able to understand the material it is crucial for when you take Chem 001 trust me lol.
Mrs. Kaur is a good teacher but there are a few things that dock off points. she can be a bit passive aggressive and rude to her students at times and her exams can be really difficult. I was sick when we had our first exam and she did not let me take it afterwards. Picks and chooses who she wants to help during labs and keeps people waiting.
Prof Kaur was clear on her objectives and the material was easy to learn with all of the videos that she uploads. Don't take this class if you are looking for an easy A. She grades tough, has a ton of work, and expects you to know your material very well. the timed quizzes and tests were moderately difficult so be prepared.
Professor Kaur was probably the best professor I've had at Solano. Highly, highly recommend if you actually want to learn.
Amazing professor overall, probably the best experience that I've had at SCC. Chemistry is difficult but she makes it accessible for everyone, which is all you can ask for. She gives meticulous instructions that everybody should be able to follow. Study and you will get it. I wish all of my experiences were as good as this...
As someone who felt unprepared for Chem 002, I can confidently say that professor Kaur is the most caring professor I have ever had. If you want to pass, you need to be prepared to take notes and do multiple practice problems, utilize her office hours, she is very good at explaining difficult concepts. She is also hilarious and so sweet!!
I took Prof Kaurs's 8 week summer Intro to Chem course. She was very sweet, helpful and clear on her lectures. The class did get pretty difficult for me toward the end, but Prof Kaur responds pretty quickly to emails, so that was helpful. I really enjoyed her class, I would say she is a tough grader, so be prepared to study a few hours per day..
Doing practice problems and reviewing quiz questions in a packet really helps with exams. She's great and always kind to answering questions in class and during office hours. Gives lots of extra credit activities to boost grades. Shes great!
She is a great professor! She responds pretty quickly. The class itself moves VERY fast, DON'T fall behind (I did not realize the first week we were supposed to read already so I fell a bit behind). She grades very toughly but gives great feedback and encourages you. For most assignments she includes a lecture video to help you do the assignment.
Prof Kaur makes Chem 002 accessible, even for those who struggle. Attend class, take notes, and utilize Unstuck ai - it's a game-changer for exam prep. The workload is heavy, but Kaur's clear explanations and helpful office hours make it manageable.
Great Professor. She does everything she can for you to pass her class, you just have to put in the work. She's very organized and helpful. She gives you all the resources you need for her tests. Tip:Be ready to do a lot of homework and don't fall behind on lectures.
Professor Kaur does everything she can to help you pass this class.I struggled with Chem in the past but Professor Kaur's extra credit opportunities and how she weighs exams allowed for me to do well in this class despite my previous struggles. She gives A LOT of assignments though many of which feels like busy work but it helps to pad your grade
She's a great teacher and wonderful human being! At first the class seemed scary, but she is extremely understanding and will listen to you if you need help. She's also approachable and will listen to your questions or troubles. The topics are hard but she teaches them well and gives many opportunities for extra credit. Thank you professor!
Professor Kaur was a substitute teacher for my chem class. She is probably one of the best teachers in terms of lecture I have encountered. I would've taken her class if I was taking Gen Chem. Great teaching approach, taking time to learn about the students and trying to not have anyone get left behind even if she is only there as a substitute.
She was one of my favorite professors! She was very sweet and explained things well. If you had questions during lab she was happy to help but was often out of class so you'd have to wait for her to come back. You had to buy a subscription to mylab and mastering.
Prof Kaur is a wonderful professor! She's so caring and really wants everyone in her class to succeed. Lectures felt long sometimes but she's very thorough and gives a lot of practice problems that resemble exams and quizzes. The homework was short (discussions/videos) or online practice due the day before exams. Take her for chem if you can!
I took the hybrid class so we had to do the lecture portion on our own but she schedules it out for you. She provided us with many resources and helped out with labs and did many practice problems with us that were similar to exams. Workload was doable and we had 4 exams total. Always happy to help, answer questions and explains material well.
I really enjoyed taking this class, more than I expected. She is an amazing Professor and wants to see everyone succeed. As long as you put forth effort you will be rewarded and she knows you are trying. I would recommend this Professor to anyone who may be hesitant to take chem 2!!
One of the sweetest Professors at our campus, had her during fall last year. Make sure to pay attention in class, look at labs ahead of time and focus! She welcomes questions and when it comes to labs make sure to read ahead to have a better understanding. Do the Mastering homework as well!
She is truly an amazing professor. SHE DOES NOT WANT YOU TO FAIL!!! I took her hybrid class which after speaking to non-hybrid students, we had a bit more work and the material was a bit harder to learn, but still doable if you dedicate time and effort. If I were to have a do-over, I would definitely take her fully in person! Tests are HARD.
Always willing to help if you have questions. Her tests were difficult, but really pay attention to the things she hints to in her lectures. Studying the slides and any practice questions she gives during lecture are the best way to succeed in her class.
Loved taking her class! She's honestly so chill and funny, but does give you a lot of work so get your schedules figured out. I took the hybrid course, but all work assigned does help you understand the material. You really have to understand the material to do well on the exams bc some of the Q's are nothing like the Practices probs.
Best Prof. at SCC, gives everything you need to succeed. Be sure to study and don't fall behind you will do great!
Prof. Kaur is an amazing instructor that is so caring to each of her students. She genuinely wants everyone to succeed, and makes accommodations for whatever you need as long as you let her know. She has everything for her class available on Canvas, and is pretty organized. The class is by no means easy and you still have put in the work!
The GOAT for Gen Chem professors. Her course is very organized, and her lectures can cover a lot of material quickly. Be prepared to put in genuine effort. Quizzes occur after every chapter, and some of the exams were difficult. She genuinely cares about her students' well-being. Labs are easy; follow procedures and ask questions if you're confused
