Kirby is great. She's is full of energy and knowledge and extends that to her students.
Ms. Bunas is a great teacher, and as we all know, not all teachers should be teaching. She knows her subject, and enjoys teaching it. She is patient with infinite questions. She's fair and accessible. As for being easy, do your part & she's cool.
Great class. Bunas is a very good teacher, very into math, obviously a great thing. She's very clear and helpful. Only problem I had was her absence policy: five absences and you're dropped, no exceptions. Other than that, great class.
not bad, but could use better organization and explanation
At first she seemed alright. But it was really boring and she never lets you take a break or talk for a second. She's always hipper too. Not so much....
This lady is a nut. Lecture was slow and boring. I chose her because of this site, but it was misleading. Too much homework, trick test question. And overall bad. I recommend Falbo, hes cool.Even tho she got rated good, the class was hard to stay awake in.
What the hell! I geuss she knows the subject if you can get past the fact that she lectures like she is delivering a bad comedy routine!
She has ADD. Or something. Difficult to learn anything sice she talks for three hours strait. Go with Wellman instead.
She is a very good teacher, and a very fair one. But her class can be very challenging, because she doesn't curve as much as others do, and she doesn't make easy tests. And she grades tests much heavier than homework, which is to the disadvantage of bad testers.
Kirby is good if you're on time. She is very fair. If you don't like her class it's only because you're not serious about the subject.
I can usually stand a teacher pretty well, even a difficult one but she was over the top. She is not interested in helping students who have a hard time in math and she is not a personable teacher. A three hour class of her manic teaching and you'll wish you stayed home. Take anyone But her!
Though it is true that she is quite hard on her students, Kirby only expects that her students are ready and willing to learn. When I took her 1B class, the material was very difficult. Throughout the course, however, it was a positive and fulfilling experience. 2B is playing out the same way.
The first day of class I though that her nutty personality would keep the class interesting... nope. I found her style and delivery mind numbing, the class just drags on and on. Her homework policy where you turn in all assignments at the tests is easy to get behind on also.
very very helpful. Study ahead!!!!!!!!!!
She is a funny hyper person who is pretty nerdy about her subject. I spent most of the time sitting in the back relaxing because I dig math and I got an A. Over half the class dropped, some with complaints. There were only 2 A's out of about 20 students. Its a math course and math is tough, especially at the JC.
I had a hard time with this class and I like math. Don't drop, definitly get a tutor and you will pass. Studying and cramming is a must. Bunas is really nice and works with you during office hours to make sure your getting all the help you need
I think she is very nice. She explains things thoroughly and effectively. Even though I know all the stuff and have no issues with tests or hw, I still pay attention because she can make it interesting.
Overall good teacher. She is honestly interested in helping others understand math. She doesn't make class boring by just spitting out information with no emotion.
she is reallly great to learn from, jus the class is hard
All things math aside, the woman is a spaz. She was unable to concentrate on ANYTHING. She may know her stuff when it comes to math, but her personality was ding-battish
Someone else said it best: "teaches as if giving a bad standup comic." I loved this class. Kirby is engaging and endearingly quirky. She is excited about math and that excitment is contagious. Very helpful during office hours, and really wants students to succed. Do the homework even if she doesn't collect it. The class is for you anyway, right?
Give Kirby a chance. She's easy-going and you'll have a relaxed homework schedule. She doesn't collect it until the chapter tests, but stay on top of it because you can ask for help in class and she'll help you do the problems. Just because some people can't enjoy math doesn't mean you have to attack the teacher.
I was AMAZED with her dedication to my classes. She'll do what it takes to make sure you understand the material and get feedback on your performance. Even when math gets hard, she still manages to provide clarity on it. She also improves on her classes by reading your feedback at the end of the semester. Enjoy! :)
Excellent, very fun, really knows her stuff. Her homework and testing method is FANTASTIC. Highly recommended.
Kirby is an awesome teacher. I had to work my butt of in her class...but it was worth it. She is a smart and respectable woman!
I really liked Kirby. She was really helpful when I needed it. I missed quite a few classes and she helped me to catch up and sat with me in her office until I understood what I needed to for the final. Shes a great teacher.
Kirby is possibly one of the most helpful math teachers I've ever had. She is always available, and if you shoot her an email she responds asap. She's hard, but you definitely deserve the grade you get. I failed a test and know that in no way is that grade reflectant on her teaching. She is sweet, fair, and extremely helpful!
Kirby was not that helpful to me. her assignments were straightforward and she was clear about what she expected of you, but i found i missed a lot of the concepts. she is the kind of math teacher who has a difficult time getting down on your level with new approaches or methods to try to explain the material. she is a nice person, but not for all.
She is ridiculously helpful! I absolutely love her enthusiasm for math. Send her an email with a question and she responds back super quick! We are doing MyMathLab in her class (online) and it's AMAZING!!!!! I highly suggest using it. It made it a lot easier for me.
She is the worse teacher very unhelpful. Please don't take any classes with her because you may ended dropping the class!!!!
Very clear. Very helpful in and out of class. If you do the homework and ask her questions, her tests are really easy. She loves math and is a great teacher. I would suggest her to anyone.
She really makes you work for your grade-especially if you want that A. She isn?t always helpful in class but she?s willing to work with you afterwards. There are curve balls on her tests (but shes convinced there aren?t!) Go to class everyday, do every homework, and cross your fingers on the exams!
Great Teacher! She is very helpful and grades very fair.
To me she seemed like a good teacher. She gave lectures every class that helped alot on under standing the material, also good use of the notes is when you have a test. The test are some what hard and some have alot of material on them. The final is hard because it has every material you have gone through out the hole course. Study study and study.
Excellent teacher, loves math, very organized, tells you what you need to do and when. Explains the material well. Always available for more help. I would take another class from her. She gave review questions like you'd get on the test. There is alot of material in this class - don't blame the teacher.
Generous in grading, gets to know her students. requires undivided attention in class and is worth every bit. Very motivational, loves her subject and cares about her students. Good sense of humor, flexible, accommodatin. Best of all she is well organized, very clear gives great presentation & follow-up.
extremely fair. tests questions very straightforward. no trick problems. decent amount of homework so solution's manual extremely useful. seems nice and likes math, though still epic boring, but thats just my opinion.
I really liked Kirby. She has a great style of teaching, and she goes out of her way to help you. However, my one complaint is the online HW. I really prefer the concept of doing HW out of a book, as I feel more is learned. That's just me, Kirby was great otherwise!
She isn't very helpful; she WANTS to help, but never seems to understand peoples questions, and rarely gives helpful answers. There are 2 midterms and a final; the second midterm is the week before the final, giving you about a week to study (which isn't enough) AND she tries to cram more info in between the second test and the final.
** (from below)... The second midterm is after the last day to drop a class, and since the second test plus the final is over 70% of your grade, there's no way in knowing if you're going to pass or not. She's a nice lady, but the set up of the class is HORRIBLE. Too bad she's the only one who teaches the one section offered of this course.
Awesomely upbeat professor. Very helpful teacher! Always tries to engage the class as much as possible (as much as you can in math).
Hard teacher! Really have to do all the homework and pratice tests. Really enjoyable teacher, she loves to laugh in class which helps with your stress level over math work. She is always available to help via in person or online. Loved the oline homework with mathlab.com. It was like having a teacher available at all times. Wouuld recommend!!!!!!!
A decent teacher that made the subject matter understandable. The classes has alot of hw and quizes but in general they help. Take this class if you are looking to learn calc and not just have it made easy for you.
A decent teacher that made the subject matter understandable. The classes has alot of hw and quizes but in general they help. Take this class if you are looking to learn calc and not just have it made easy for you.
Not very good teacher unless your a math major. No notes calculator and she makes you memorize a lot of formulas. She makes the class a lot harder than it needs to be.
Kirby is a good teacher but she assumes that all of her students are engineering or math majors. Being a non-mathy person Kirby made calculus at 7:30am at least survivable. She is available by email and she's really easy to talk to. She's one of the few math teachers that have decent social skills.
Great Teacher! Hard class but she was very clear and very helpful. She never made any feel as if they were asking a stupid question(even if it was kind of stupid).
This teacher is awsome she is super helpful and really understanding! Her tests are fairly easy as long as you do the homework you should do fine o the test.. If you don't understand something she will always go over it with you. Make sure you show up to class she always takes attendance!
Best math teacher I've had. She is very clear about what she expects from her students and is strict about memorizing formulas. Her tests are reasonable and she is very helpful, she obviously wants to help her students succeed.
I had a great semester with Kirby. She made the topics easy (easier) to understand. When she moves too fast or doesn't give a clear explanation, she encourages you to stop her and she will find a way to make it understandable. Super fair, pretty generous grading scale and gets work and tests back to you ASAP. Not an "easy" A, but not a hard one.
Kirby is an awesome teacher. She gets a little strange sometimes but its definetly entertaining. She runs her class well, dont use your phones, or talk when shes talking, she hates that. She is very helpful and really knows her stuff. Take her class shes great!
She is a great professor, if you don't understand it she will take the time to explain it. If you really hate math and can't do it, she will make you believe you are intelligen!
She is a great professor, if you don't understand it she will take the time to explain it. If you really hate math and can't do it, she will make you believe you are intelligent!
Took this course over the summer - definitely not a blast, but Kirby made it as enjoyable as possible. Does not tolerate distractions one bit in the classroom, which I love. Walked away at the end of the summer feeling confident in my math abilities.
SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER! I took her Spring 2012. You HAVE to do the homework if you want an A in this class. I suck at math and after her class I feel like I have a very strong understanding. I used My Math Lab which meant I did not need the text book, but if you don't purchase that, you will need the text. Her Final is VERY hard so study up!
Kirby is the best Math teacher I've ever had. She somehow makes the most difficult concepts understandable. She's really funny and quirky and wants you to understand the material. Her lectures are actually interesting! She explains things so well that people rarely have questions, and that you always get it on the first try. Kirby's amazing!!
She is a great teacher very helpful very fair I took her last semester and I enjoyed it she was always there to help outside of the classroom and inside of the classroom as well. she has her ways of being funny so just go with it and she's very nice
Kirby Bunas is horrible. Every time she tries to teach, it sounds like she's acting. She tries to be funny and quirky, but it's just annoying. Everyone in my class slept and nobody knows what we were doing. A lot of people dropped. Speeds through concepts and by the looks of past Math 16 classes, she isn't very good at teaching the course.
I can honestly say that Kirby is one, if not the best teacher I have ever had at the JC. She is approachable, super clear on her subject-matter, and if you dont understand something, she will go out of her way to help you understand. you have to work in her class, but it is nothing unreasonable and she is willing to wok with you.
Kirby is great. SHes helpful and enthusiastic! A little kooky, but you get used to it and its humorous! I love her as a teacher! Wish she was teaching 151 next semester, but I might just have to take calculus in the future so she can be my teacher again!
KIRBY IS SO AWESOME! I really love her and I'm taking math1B with her again next semester. SHe makes the hard concepts really easy to understand. She's helpful both in class and during office hours. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
She is a really good teacher that really knows how to teach. You get to use notes for the tests. Tests are worth 72% of your grade. Online quizzes and hw are worth 24%. Attendance 4%. The subject can be hard, so make time to study. I thought I was going to end up dropping the course, but got a B at the end :)
Kirby is one of the friendliest math professors at SRJC. Not only does she make the class reasonable for her students, but she makes herself available outside of class for extra help. Yes, she is goofy during lecture but it really helped me stay awake at 7:30AM. I would highly recommend her for any math course.
Kirby talks too fast and goes on tangents about non-math related things often. She tries to be funny but it comes out as passive-aggressive. If you like quirky, hyper people take her, but if you're there just to learn math I'd suggest another teacher. Sometimes it takes 30 min just to get to the material. If you are bad at math take someone else.
If you take your schoolwork seriously, there is no way you can fail Kirby's class. She goes over the schedule every day, extends homework deadlines to match her lectures, and sends out test study-guides weeks before the test takes place. Just do your damn homework because math can be a dense subject and at times there is a lot to be covered.
Kirby is wonderful! This is a tough class and she does her best to make us understand the material and gives you every opportunity to succeed in her class. Her tests are very reasonable, if you do the homework and do the review you will do well. Plus she allows for notes on exams! Great teacher!
Great teacher, highly recommended, does theory in class, but i never paid attention. Clear whats on the test, nothing tricky, I reviewed by skimming through book Ex. and reading it towards the end sections, doin in class Ex. (notes),study guide she sends out before every test, and overall HWs. clear, understandable and makes 1B a nice class to take!
The class was too fast for me. Kirby's teaching style is too fast. She doesn't really make time for too many questions or comments. I am not great at math and i kind of understand the concepts but even still. But, the tests are straight forward, and there is a lot of homework but doing it all makes the class a little better.
I'm not much of a math person. Kirby had the best set up out of ANY of the 6 math classes I took at JC. TIPS to an easy A or B grade: Get 100% attendance grade. Get all A's on online quzzes and homework (easy). Write AWESOME notes for the in class exams. 2/3 of the class got A's on exams, it's that straightforward.
I am terrible in math, and i was nervous to take this class since it is technically two courses smushed together. She was incredibly helpful and I have referred to her and this class to a lot of students. Its mostly online and the homework is easy, no need for a text book. notes are clearly given to you in class.
Kirby teaches way too fast. She is constantly trying to cram assignments in before each test. There are usually 5-7 assignment per week which would be okay if this was the only class I was taking. Many people have dropped already, stay away from Math 16 with her.
Kirby is constantly trying to cram assignments in before each test. Her teaching style is to give long, lectures. The amounts of online assignments are ridiculous for anybody taking more than two classes. She gets herself off topic and can end up wasting precious time when reviewing a concept. I would say try the normal calculus class over this one
This is a tough subject on its own, but Kirby clarifies it so much! Her lectures are fantastic, and the notes she writes down: COPY THEM! They will be your guiding light through homework and tests. It's a lot of work, but if you show up, and ask questions, you should have no problem with passing. She's very helpful, one of the best teachers at SRJC
A quirky woman who obviously loves math, her lectures are what got me through. Even without the online aspect, she was the key to unlock my math skills. She does an excellent job of writing out every step, making things clear and isn't afraid to admit if she made a mistake. Please take her if you are nervous about math.
Class is so difficult, you can't take it lightly. Focus from the beginning. Goodluck...
The class was extremely difficult, especially because of how fast of a pace she teaches at. I did not enjoy this class at all but stuck it out and squeaked by with a C because of completing all of the HW and quizzes with A's. I don't think there is anyone else you can take this class with which is unfortunate.
Kirby is an amazing professor, you do have to come to class every day, but she has a quirky personality and is an amazing statistics teacher! You should definitely take her class.
If you want loads of homework this is the teacher to take she is a stickler when it comes to points and won't compromise on any homework or test scores. She doesn't even give out any extra credit to make up points. She doesn't take the time to make sure her students are understanding the material so I wouldn't recommend taking her.
Kirby is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She teaches the way not to do something, so the student don't do it that way..... I don't know about you but for me that is extremely confusing. You have to go to class everyday so be prepared for her annoying jokes and repetitive lectures. I would never recommend this teacher to anyone.
This is not an easy class because stats is not an easy subject but Kirby is a solid math professor. Math has never been my strong suit but she breaks things down in a way that works. There is no slipping by in this class, attendance and attention is key for success. There is a decent workload but its all pretty necessary in learning the material.
Coming to class and taking notes was crucial to pass her class. Everything she taught during lecture was on the test, so there wasn't any random questions. Kirby is hilarious and if you questions, ask them. I would definitely take a class with her again.
Couldn't stand this class. Kirby is absolutely in love with herself. Clearly the majority of the class that dropped was not. She assigns an unreal amount of work and she was still teaching material right before the final! Doesn't drop lowest test score. Is extremely strict on attendance. We're not in high school anymore. Take a different teacher.
Kirby was absolutely fantastic. I took a summer class in which Kirby taught the first part of the semester. She clearly knows her stuff but more importantly she knows how to break it down and communicate it very well to her students. Anyone who takes her and puts the work in can easily pass. Her lectures are fabulous.
Kirby is the worst teacher I have ever had. Her lectures are long and recommend doing as many steps as possible instead of using short cuts. I could stand going to her class. She is unhelpful even when I would email her and go to her office hours. I would never recommend her to you anyone. If fact I have told people not to take her class...
Bunas knows the class material from front to back. She instills good habits for note taking by grading high on hand-written homework. Her lectures are direct and clear, always planned in advance. I wish she taught more than two courses.
If you are going to take Kirby for this course... be prepared to spend hours doing homework and do not take several classes along with it. I failed this course because I could not give the 10 hours of hw she expected you to do, even though I had a tutor and a determined attitude. I was a 3.2 student w/o any F's or D's and now I do. Very demanding!
Her lectures are really helpful. She makes math really to understand and she goes step by step when you do not get something. She expects you to be in class on time. She gives a lot of quizzes and test but they are around every two weeks so you just get tested on what you just learn on that week. You will forsure need computer access for this class
This class is definitely not easy, but Kirby does a really good job explaining each section that she covers. She goes by material semi-quickly so make sure you show up for every class and take good notes. She is very intelligent and knows exactly what she is talking about. If you have to take math 16, I would take Kirby.
Meh, I liked calc 1, 3, and 4 better. Series weren't really my thing. She's fine, not outstanding in any way. Kind of a hippy, I think. I wish she always collected the HW. The dept is big; there are better options.
Kirby Bunas, in my opinion, is one of the best teachers I've had thus far in my studies. She is very thorough explaining material so that students are engaged and able to understand. Put in your effort to want to learn, she is always available in her office hours for extra help. Show up to class everyday, take good notes, and the results will show.
She gives to much homework every week and they take about 8-12 hours. She talks to fast and moves through material rapidly. I wouldn't recommend her.
I had her for my Math 150A course and liked her so much that I took her Math 155 course. She is very thorough with her lectures, if you pay attention and take notes you will pass easily. She is always available to help with anything you don't understand. The pace of her advanced classes can be a bit intimidating, but she explains the material well.
Going from Pre-Algebra to completing Beginning and Intermediate algebra in one semester was by far a challenge, but Professor Bunas style of teaching made it possible to do. She made the concepts simple to understand by giving real-life scenarios and then applying mathematical detail. Show up, take great notes, practice, and attend study sessions
She was a very approachable instructor, and her office hours were convenient, as well as helpful. Lots of homework, but the practice is necessary. Tests are fairly easy, and the online homework has unlimited tries. Her sense of humor also makes math more fun.
Kirby Bunas makes math enjoyable. Her teaching styles engages all learning styles and all lectures are precisely structured around the homework. Great teacher and makes time to help. Offers alternative methods to solving equations. Kirby is willing to answer questions regarding homework and will explain further if mathematics were not understood.
Kirby is so enthusiastic about math and she's such a quirky, fun character that class isn't boring. She teaches really well. She did have us do our homework online (MML) and write it down on paper though so it could be time consuming, but she asked for feedback about it at the end of semester and said she might change that. Not too hard, but study.
Kirby is a GREAT math instructor. Her enthusiasm for the course material is contagious, and her lectures are very engaging. She conveys the material clearly and answers all questions in depth (if there's time). Homework is collected almost every day, but most assignments are VERY reasonable for a calculus class (1h-1h30m per night). Def sign up!!
Kirby is an awesome 1B teacher! She grades hard; she'll notice if you do a problem on your homework wrong and mark you down 50%, haha. I learned it the hard way, but if you do hw, do probs on the study guide, and attend the class, you can get an A! 1B is fun because of her enthusiasm and fairness in tests.
Legit my favorite teacher, ever. She clearly communicates her expectations, grades very fairly, and writes goods tests: no surprises on the tests, and if you kept up with homework and did her suggested test prep, you're pretty much guaranteed to get an A. She's approachable and genuinely cares about her students.
Kirby was a fantastic math teacher. Calculus 2 isn't easy, but if you are looking for a professor that makes the class significantly easier, Kirby is perfect. The exams are easier than most of the homework assigned, a sheet of notes is allowed, and Kirby is very generous with the partial credit. Her lectures are also pretty clear. Highly recommend.
Math 1A with Mrs. Bunas was an easy class compared to previous calculus classes I took in the past. Lectures were kinda boring, but the stuff covered in lecture was exactly the same as what was covered on the test. She wanted to have us actually understand the subject instead of trying to teach to the test. Id would definitely take her again.
Kirby was genuinely the best math teacher Ive ever had. Ive struggles with math my whole life and this is the first time I felt like Id passed. Shes very understanding. Its a 5 unit class so theres a lot of lectures but if you attend them all and do the homework youre guaranteed to pass. Shes very easy to contact and replies kindly.
Kirby is a great professor. She is very caring and responds to emails very quickly and answers questions. There is a lot of work because it is a 5 unit class but it is worth it and very helpful for the tests. There is 3 midterms and one final. She really cares about her students and she will set up one on one zooms to help her students.
Kirby is a great teacher and her overall teaching style makes it very easy to learn. However Calculus 3 is a very difficult course and it is very easy to get behind. She graded based on weekly quizzes, homework and exams. She didnt offer any extra credit or curve her tests so once you fail an assignment its not easy to raise your grade back up.
I took trigonometry with Kirby online and she was amazing. Lectures are super clear and easy to understand and recorded! Shes almost ALWAYS accessible. She genuinely wants to help you and is very passionate about her job! There is a lot of HW but I promise you it helps. Study her review problems and lecture note problems and you can get an A!
Nice lady. But her class itself sucks. She only grades you on homework and tests and the tests are every two weeks and are the majority of your grade. She has way to much homework for such a small window in between tests so it's hard to study good enough. Would not take again
I think she self-centered her class structure a bit too much and she has lost a sense of touch with college students' lives. There is a lot of tests and little time to review. Once you finish watching the week of long lectures to watch, there is a test approaching within the next few days. I would not recommend her. Please do not settle for her.
I see other students concerns regarding Kirby, and I think there are some valid arguments in there. Personally, I found the format of this class to be really well organized. Her lectures are excellent! However, you really have to have good time management to be successful in this class. Try to stay a day or two ahead of schedule, dont fall behind
I have never had such a passionate math professor. I took Kirby's math 27 for 3 hours straight twice a week which was very difficult. If anyone else had been teaching, I might have dropped the class. Kirby was very excited about her subject and very considerate.
Kirby was an awesome teacher and genuinely cares about her students, and clearly loves teaching math. She's always available during class and after class if you need to ask questions. There wasn't a crazy amount of homework, her lectures were well structured, and she always provided review for the upcoming tests about two weeks in advance.
The professor is amazing and she loves what she does. The amount of work is heavy, but if you don't get behind you'll be fine. Get ready to spend 20 hours a week on the course if you aren't good at math like me.
One of the best professors on the campus. She deserves to teach in top universities in the world. And I believe she could if she wanted to. She is the true meaning of a teacher who walks with her students every step of the way through their learning. I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from her.
Kirby is a great teacher. She will do everything in her power to give you the best chance at getting the grade you want. She will not shy away from answering questions, for which she shows great interest; and she is a great lecturer and talks in a way that will get your attention for the whole class. I would choose her again for 1C, if I could.
She is a very good lecturer and is available outside of class, but she assigns crazy amounts of homework and is a very tough grader. I think for some she would be great, but I found it a bit overwhelming.
Kirby is by far one of the best professors I've had. She knows everything about what she is teaching you and her lectures are clear and concise. There's 3 exams and a final that make up 76% of your grade but as long as you do the study guide for each test you will get an A. Just show up to all the lectures and do the work and you will do great.
Excellent, tech-savvy lectures but loves her tests. Six tests in one semester plus a three hour long final. I know this is a 6 unit class but the tests are overboard.
Overall her class was pretty tough but rewarding.
Overall it was challenging but rewarding. I recommend her. You know, I think Math 27 must not be easy for the average student.
Great lecturer, doesn't waste your time, really cares for students success. The tests are very heavy, be prepared to study weeks in advance for each test. If you go to her office hours, she will give great tips. Attendance isn't mandatory, however I didn't miss class because material was that heavy each lecture. Allows notes, hw is unlimited tries.
Go to lecture, take notes, do homework as early as possible, and DO NOT CHEAT. Professor Bunas is extremely caring for her students and has a great persona(like that of a fun, crazy science teacher). Unlimited homework attempts, weekly quizzes with 10 attempts at each one, 3 Exams, and One Final. Also, she allows cheat sheets on exams!
Tough teacher
Tough grader and who can not explain concepts.
Worst teach I have had.
I have never struggled so badly in a class.
She's the best, teaches really well, she does have tests every other week, but it helps to keep material fresh on your mind. Lots of homework but do the work and you will be fine, do the class work and you will pass the tests.
Kirby's MATH27 class is tough but rewarding. The lectures are excellent, and she genuinely cares about helping students. While the workload can be demanding, using resources like unstuck ai alongside the textbook makes a big difference.
Amazing teacher who is caring and wants her students to pass.
Gives excellent lectures and makes it very clear what you need to learn. Attendance isn't mandatory but students who missed too many days at the start of semester were dropped from the class. Homework only counts for 12% of your grade, so tests are very important! Textbook and homework were available online, as well as all of the lecture notes.
Kirby is one of the kindest, most caring profs. She wants you to do well. Her classes are impossible, though. She holds students to unrealistic standards like we're all there to become mathematicians. Absurd amounts of HW, making us memorize EVERY formula and racing through lecture. She was only teaching the top few students who could keep up.
Amazing professor and a delightful person. It's extremely evident she has a genuine passion for mathematics and wants nothing more than for her students to understand the concepts. There is a high emphasis on tests, but she provides thorough study guides up to two weeks in advance. Absolutely wonderful class.
While I was nervous to take her, I found her teaching style and way of breaking things down AMAZING. I took a class that covered the same content in high school and finished with a C+, but I was able to do much better and understand the content with her. Lastly, be prepared to do all the HW and test prep to do well. It's not impossible to get an A.
Kirby is an amazing math instructor. I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep up with the course since I haven't taken a math class in 6 years. Her explanations of the concepts made it easy to learn. I recommend going to the STEM lab to get help with the hw if you're struggling. It's important to do the hw since the hw is harder than the exams.
(+MATH225) This course was exhausting and extremely challenging for me, but I can think of no better instructor to have had than Kirby. She is a fun and engaged instructor who seems genuinely interested in student success. I feel sufficiently prepared for future mathematics courses and will certainly take her again if I have the chance.
Hashtag love her!! She is an amazing professor and is really passionate about Math. She is always willing to talk and is very open about her office hours and encourages you to get help if needed. The online textbook to access homework is $100 and there is an assignment after every class, but no homework on weekends or holidays. Fast grading.
