If you understand your notes and the readings and pay attention in class, you can get an A. Her grading scale makes it easy for you to get a good grade in her exams. Her tests are simple and contain the material discussed in class.
great teacher, interesting class, study all your notes and you will do fine
she's a sweet and interesting professor. If you do not understand the material, just ask. She's willing to help you until you understand it fully. Really great!
Approachable and willing to help. Makes philosophy easy to understand. ALWAYS take down her notes. The class won't be smooth sailing without them.
Excellent professor, She is very helpful and nice.
Dr. X was the best teacher I ever had. The class doesn't really require the textbook considering how comprehensible and thorough her lectures are. They're not even lectures! She prefers discussion! She offers extra credit/willing to help outside of class. You'd be crazy not to take this course.
such an easy class, very clear, very nice, good grader, do all your homework and you will be an expert at logic
She's helpful and nice, and you'll learn logic! If you need her class, take her.
She is a very fair and kind teacher and it is clear she has vast knowledge of the topic.
she knows her subject well and the class takes some effort but if you study youll mos def get an A!
shes very nice and her class is an easy A..just take notes and participate in class. Very good class to take.
She is very nice, and cares for her students, but her class is extremely BORING!!! she doesnt motivate you in class to want to participate. Over all the class is easy its just boring.
She is awesome! The test questions come straight from the notes and she curves and offer extra credit. But be warn, she has very lengthy papers, but she'll proof read them before the due date. Class is usually a discussion, so it's interactive. Overall excellent.
Ehhhh
Very good teacher who is passionate about the subject and encourages engaging discussions. VERY easy grader in terms of the paper- tests are easy if take notes and study for 10 minutes. Very cute accent.
Very nice about overrides.. call her on phone b4 school starts if you can't get in, she'll promise you a spot even if there are no seats. one book, kinda cheap. interesting class discussions. time flys in her class. take it.
shes hot
....i am not done taking her class, but it seems pretty easy and i have an A so far...and she is the hottest teacher ever, wow...if i fail its because she is soo damn hot!
Great teacher, great style of teaching, its hard not to pay attention in class, and as long as u participate u will learn by osmosis
wierd greek accent but very helpful
She is very passionate about her subject. Lectures are interesting and takes her time to answer questions. Nice, sweet, and polite, I'd take her again.
She is a kool and interesting teacher. I recommand her to anyone who is willing to learn something new.
Good class, you really have to think, but not hard. Plus...this woman is HOT AS HELL!!!
shes very helpful, and she let me take a make-up exam 3 weeks after. i got a B+ in the class and i missed 20% of class. Her class time is very chill because you have discussions all class long.

this class is wack. no matte what anyone says, she is not hott! ppl say she is easy. all her questions on tests are trick questions and has an accent. sometimes difficult to understand. my fav. question to ask myself in class is "huh? what?"... soooo confusing!! and worse.. not HOTT at all!!
She is an incredible teacher! Wow she really knows how to teach. She is always there to help you when you need it and makes it clear what is going to go on the test. Don't ever hesitate to go to her class, she will always be very nice and quick to help you. She is cute, nice accent, and knows how to dress. Can't want to take another class with her.
She is a very good professor that will not hesitate to help you if you have any questions. Although she gives a lot of homework, I found it all extrememly helpful to understand the material and study for exams. Her exams (multiple choice) are not that difficult if you study the definitions on her study guides as well as the sections in your book.
Kiriake is a very nice person who is always willing to help. The material can get difficult, but her tests are easy compared to what you're being tested on, so you're likely to pass. I recommend her. She's kinda hot too.
Although some of you in her ethics courses do say that she is somewhat of difficult teacher you need to understand that she is the best logic teacher and the hardest ethics teacher, or so it's rumored. But no matter what the case is she does find a way to help you and give you a little extra of her time to explain if you take the time to ask.
GO TO CLASS. If you pay attention and show up, the class isn't difficult.. Ask her for HW and copy it, she doesnt check for accuracy she checks if you do it. If you dont go to class, it gets difficult to catch up later in the semester. Trust me, I would know. Take Notes, Show up, and go to her Pre-exam reviews, and you'll do fine.
She is very nice and helpful towards students if class is doing poorly. She gives A LOT of extra credit. For her tests, DO NOT study her notes, rather STUDY THE READINGS! The test questions come straight from the readings!!!
She is a good professor. She is very nice and always helpful. She is extremely knowledgeable and one can tell she enjoys her job. There are three exams and two (ten page) papers. Don't get discouraged if you do poorly on her fist exam, she offers a lot of extra credit on the last two. The class is not too hard, but you must keep up with the work.
THIS LADY is the SH*T! Yea she will use up every minute of class time but she is very helpful. Shes knows alot about the subject. Took her for a Summer course, had 2 papers which are tough (BUT SHE GRADES VERY VERY FAIR!) and 2 Exams. Exams pretty simple just multiple choice! Really recommend signing up for her class! AWESOME!
Great professor. Very knowledgable. An extremely fair grader. Class is consisted of a lecture and free debate. Can get rowdy at times, but always fun. 2 exams, 2 papers. You WILL need your book, tests comes straight out of it! I am selling mine, if anyone is interested in buying it for the 2006 school year, contact me.
She grades the papers easily and as long as you follow her format you are most likely guaranteed to get an A. For the exams just do the readings and read the lecture notes, make sure you go to class!
Material covered for class sucks, but she is an easy grader. two papers, a midterm, and a final are your only grades. Class discussions every class, goes over everything...nice teacher, but horrible subject. Everything she goes over is from the book, test questions come from their. for test questions u just have to know authors and their theories.
I agree with the comments of the other students. A great professor and recommendable to everyone!!!
test are worded somewhat hard. She is great in communicating, helpful, patient, clear, nice, and not like those freak ohilosophers who think of ubsurd ideas, very down to earth, reasonable and makes you think (that's what should make any professor an awesome one). Read and study for test and you'll do good (not great). very very good professor
She is a very smart prof. and leads a very interesting class. Papers may seem hard, but she is an easy grader. The tests are a bit harder but if you are interactive in class and understand the main points, you should be fine. She's got an accent that may be a little confusing, but it is easy to get an A in her class. Definitely recommend her
Nice teacher, but the heavy Greek accent can be quite annoying. Tests are tricky but the papers are relatively easy. 3 tests, 2 papers: each test and exam is 20% of the final grade. NOT HOT!!! Don't know who's saying she's hot, but she really isn't. I wouldn't take another one of her classes, but she wasn't the worst i've had.
For an intro class she seems to go a bit in depth with this subject. This class is not so much about ethics as it is about philosphy. Anyways, if u are the kind of person who doesn't really want to learn and just wants to memorize and regurgitate information & quickly forget it, i wouldnt recommend this Prof. 2 2k word papers, & tests are tricky
Intro to Logic was very easy with her. I am HORRIBLE at math So if i can get a B you can too. GO TO ALL HER CLASSES if you do she will raise your grade 1/3 like if you have a B+ and you have perfect attendance she'll give you an A-. Only 3 exams. Do the Homework she does collect it. Her grading scale is awesome. An 88 is considered an A-
One of the nices teachers you will ever meet.Be careful with her papers though.Theres two 10pg papers and 4 tests in the semester.Tests can be worded a bit tricky and you should NOT plagiarized on her papers.SHE WILL CATCH YOU!She knows what shes talkin about. She teaches well and and makes you think by playin 'devils avocate'..i made her laugh alo
she's so hot !!! it's hard to focus on philosophy in her class because of that. but it's an easy class, nice professor, fair exams and papers
Shes not a bad teacher at all. Dont Plaigerize on your papers and you should be fine! i recommend participating in class because shes a littl epicky about that! other than that take her notes and read her tests carefully
She is a great teacher and her tests may seem a little difficult to study for but they are actually pretty easy! she is really nice and helpful and she gives extra credit!
In this class there are two 3,000 word papers that you need to write. Her tests are also tricky, so you need to study for them. Class is so boring, everyone falls asleep! Also, she drops your letter grade by one if you miss more than two classes, which is crazy. Her notes help you on the tests. I hated this class because ir was boring but it's easy.
Okay first of all, you will spend half of the class time trying to figure out what she is saying and she also doesn't speak loud enough. There is tons of homework and she collects it. She lowers your grade by a letter if you miss class, which is crazy. Take this class with someone else.
Easy, but if you actually want to learn...take someone else. Feeds you facts, all she expects is that you feed it back to her. There is no thinking in the class, just memorizing. Also, I always had the feeling that she picked the topic for the day out of a hat on her way to class. Never once used the book.
shes awsome. I had difficulty with this class and she went out of her way and beyond durring her office hours to help me, and responded to all my emails with helpful hints. I love her. Attendace is mandatory , ask questions, and study, shes one of , if not the best teacher at FIU.
Horrible, Just Horrible, There are better teaches that teach this subject. You cant hear her she doesnt use a Mic.. Lots of homework which dont really help on the test, Doesnt really explain, doesnt really teach just goes over stuff... Don't take Final is impossible..
She is very nice, she really tries but sometimes is funny how she treated us like little kids. She writes EVERYTHING on the board, every single word problem!! You have to sit in the first rows to hear her. There is a lot of hw but those really help you practice for the exams. She is an easy grader. Just gotta class! otherwise you will get lost!
Very good teacher. You have to go to class. She lowers your grade a letter for three absences but raises it a half a grade for perfect attendence.Take notes she goes over the homework in class and many of the short answer questions are problems we did in class. If you have questions just ask her she's always willing to help.Would take her again.
She is awesome and class is very interesting. She is very clear about what she wants and grades very easy. Her exams are a little complex but focusing through them you can still get a good grade because she gives extra credit. Easy A!!!!!!!!!!
She is very considerate of her students, and cares for their success in class.
Good professor. Good class to take in the summer. 2 papers. 2 tests. Papers clearly outlined. Tests are worded very tricky. Professor loves what she does and is always willing to listen and debate with you. Very helpful. Expectations are clearly outlined. Take notes and engage in class discussion and you'll do fine.
Dr. Kiriake is a wonderful philosophy professor. She is what all college professors should be: passionate about her subject and helpful to students. I recommend to take this class WITH HER to finish 1 of the 2 humanities required. I also recommend it for a summer class IF you are not taking more than 2. Take good notes+ read book and you'll do well
She has a little trouble speaking english, but in a cute way. She's really hot, and it nice as well. I'm taking her for PHI 2100 and although the subject matter is stupid she tries hard to explain it.
shes a pretty easy teacher attendence is not mandatory her tests are easy just make sure you read the book and do the execercises, shes funny she gets confused with her own lectures but the class is very simple you will be in class all hour and she never doesnt come to class. simple test not much work.
She was very nice and very helpful. Super sweet, but the class is BORING! And c'mon people! she is not that young like most of the students, BUT I would say that she looks awesome for her age!
VERRRRRRYYYYYYYY GOOOOOD teacher. Straight forward and helpful. Attend class and study your notes for the tests. Papers are easy. EASY A!!!
Great teacher. Interesting class. And she's hot!
Good teacher. Attend class and do the very long home work for a guaranteed A. Easy subject. Don't be one of those idiots that argue with the teacher. She knows what she is doing. Semi mandatory attendance. sometimes passes a sign in sheet. Curved grading scale 88+ is an A
She's an excellent teacher. I learned a lot from her class, EVEN having it online. Her lectures are so clear and understandable, just believe her when she puts emphasis on practicing. The content gets rather difficult.
She is really knowledgeable and willing to help her students in and out of class. The material gets harder as the course progresses but she explains everything. Don?t be afraid to ask questions, she wants you to. The exams are not cumulative (not even the final) and if you do the HW, they should be easy. Overall, I would recommend this class.
If you are tacking it online I would not reomend it. I really like the material, but there is A LOT OF HOMEWORK!! when I mean a lot like near 1000 questions to turn in before each of the two tests! it crazy. I plan on taking her again in fall though because she seems to be interesting. Just dont recomend it online or summer! workload is ridiulous!
She's beautiful and absolutely wonderful!
Took the course online, grade based on 3 on campus exams and a lot of homework. Make sure you don't fall behind because it's hard trying to catch up if you procrastinate. She puts up lectures on podcasts that are helpful. She is very nice. Even does optional on-campus sessions to make sure you understand. Challenging but highly recommended.
She is very nice and is always willing to help her sutdents. The only thing with her is that she goes to fast and she thinks we all know the material (which we don't). The class is hard (sometimes depends on the chapter). There are 3 tests and LOTS of homework (i mean LOTS). Overall it is an interesting class if you are intro logic.

I had her for Intro to Logic and she goes rather fast through the material. Having the book is vital because you will most likely be lost through her lecture anyway and she gives mandatory homework. Her tests are tricky but not hard if you study.
Took it online!! WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE...THINK I AM NOT GOING TO PASS. THREE EXAMS ON CAMPUS AND A LOT, A LOT, A LOT OF HOMEWORK...OVER 300 PROBLEMS PER EXAM THAT IS MANDATORY DUE DAY OF EXAMS. TAKES A LOOONG TIME TO DO. MUST HAVE A LOT OF TIME TO DEDICATE TO THIS ONLINE COURSE...OR WILL FAIL MISERABLY. GO OVER HER PODCAST LECTURES AND THE BOOK.
I was new to logic and I didn't take it as seriously as I should have at first. It's a hard subject. Luckily, Xero is a good teacher and "The Power of Logic" is a fantastic book! If these guys had written my high school books I'd be in Harvard. You will do great if you do the homework on schedule and go to class. With that warning, I recommend.
She is very helpful whenever you need help, although there is alot of work to complete before the test and if you dont keep up it can be quite hard
Hands down one of the nicest professors out there. She is always willing to help you and will do whatever necessary to help you understand the material. The tests are indeed difficult and the 2 essay papers are tedious. If you work hard you can get a good grade, if you slack.. then NO.
The class is hard, it is a hard topic. But she is very helpful in giving step by step instructions. i took it online and she gave lectures. You have to study and do the homework if you expect to pass.
She is such a nice professor and sooo helpful. Her class can get a bit boring; attendance is counted, but you can do good with going by the book and doing all the exercises. It's alot of H/W but there is really no other way to really learn the material. Great professor, overall =)
She's a good teacher but her class is super hard! DON'T take it unless you absolutely have to. A lot of hw is required to understand & the tests are tricky. She's nice & all but the actual class is stressful. TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH! She helps & makes sure everyone understands but it's still a hard class.
Dr. Xerohemona has a heart of gold! If you are willing to invest some effort (and get past the initial frustrations of learning new material), you will love logic, especially with her. She is always there to guide you through, if necessary, since her lectures are very clear. *HINT: use www.poweroflogic.com to complete your work! I got an A+...
She is the nicest person in the world. The material is a bit difficult for some people - I found it rather easy. She is always willing to help; I definitely recommend her. If she sees that you did your work/homework and really tried, she will boost you up in the end, believe me, she did so with my friends. We call it, "The Magical A".
I won't lie. This class is tough if you don't keep up with her homework sections. If you read and keep up you WILL pass. She is always willing to help you understand. Logics is the kind of subject that you either get it or you don't. And if you don't she'll definitely help you any which way possible!
its an intro class.. very easy A if you do hw and go to class. attdn not mandatory but helpful, the book is too. Tests are pretty straightforward, especially if you understand the material. HW isnt bad if you keep up, and it helps reinforce material. helpful great teacher, will debate questions not a hard class at all if you try. take her
Dr.Xerohemona is great.I'm NOT good at math. I'm not trying to be modest, I really mean it.So, if you can relate I recommend you take this class. It's hard to get an A because there is a lot of HW to complete and the tests can be tricky if you don't study days in advance. I got a B.
Took this class in the summer. Lectures are really long and boring. You MUST read the book and sections along with notes if you want to pass. Two essays are pretty easy and two tests which are mostly T/F questions that can be really confusing. Really lenient grading scale. Overall not bad.
VERY difficult material. It was an online course and she was always available on campus to help, lectures are clear. took it over the summer. i've never done so much work in 7 weeks not even for biology or chemistry,,,but if you do it all and pass the tests with a C and do the extra credit its an "easy" A
Super difficult class. Tons of Homework. I took this class online and had so much trouble.
She's really the best, my favorite professor. I had her for two classes. This one, I hardly showed up b/c it was too far to travel and the material was easy to learn on your own. Assignements are due on the three test days (total grade) and I did those to study, worked out perfectly. Highly recommended.
Like, I said in my other rating, she's my favorite professor, highly recommended. This class was mandatory, unlike the other, but if you missed a day or two she'd understand. All lecture, and she writes important things on the board. Easy to understand, and she's happy to answer questions. I got an A and never read the book. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Took her course online and the material is not easy! And there is a lot of work that must be done. But as long as you complete all the hw and do the extra credit you should pass. I didnt do too well on the tests but completed all the hw's and got a B! And she offers very helpful tutoring! Tests are on campus there are a total of 3!
She is very willing and always available to help. She sincerely wants her students to learn and succeed. I could not have asked for a better experience in taking logic. I learned so much in the class, despite difficulty, she was able to work me through it. One of my fav classes + professors.
She is really nice and is very helpful in her office hours. She knows what she is talking about, but you can't show up to class without having read before. Homework is mandatory, don't do it last minute, it is a lot! tests are reasonable, if you studied. She is pretty hot too.
Every week she posts lectures on blackboard for each section. Each week there is homework from that section that goes with it. DO THE HOMEWORK WEEKLY!!! Not at you get closer to the test date because it's a lot of homework per section. Tests are basically homework. You will use the textbook all the time.
Read all her notes a bunch of times and read cause she's hard. Definitely not an easy A, attendance mandatory, Lowers half a letter grade if missed 3. Don't bother with this class. Material is boring and lectures and confusing. All class you'll just take notes. You can pass if you really study but it's just not interesting so be prepared. goodluck
I'm not saying you can't pass, but she's confusing and hard, so stay away. 2 essays 5-6pgs: tough grader. She graded everything after the drop date. Tests are truefalse, but be careful because it's not easy, she tricks u. Attendance was mandatory, and if you skip you fail. Wish I dropped. Alot of reading and confusing material, textbook is needed.
Xerohemona is very to the point. There is a lot of homework exercises, yes, but the homework is due on the exam date, and there are three exams during the entire semester. Also the homework is the how you study for the exam. Her lectures go by fast, she is great at explaining but expects you to answer questions and pay attention.
She is a very nice lady but takes her job very seriously. There are 3 test and 2 papers all equally difficult. She must grade on a curve because I passed with a B and I did not do well on any of my test. She is very big on participation, the more you participate the more she likes you. Test are based off the reading and her notes.
Professor X is not as bad as she seems. I hate math and I passed her class with an A. Do the homework, pay attention in class and do the extra credit and I'm almost positive that you'll pass the class.
So pretty much if you're an average student and willing to do homework, you'll pass. The class isn't the easiest, it is a math course. However, the teacher does try to help her students as much as she can and offers great amounts of classwork. Don't wait till the last minute to do the homework because you will have questions.
All over the place, high school like mentality ;take students phones if she catches you on them in class, gets angry really quickly.
HER CLASS IS NOT DIFFICULT BUT SHE IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND AT FIRST. SHE IS KIND OF ALL OVER THE PLACE IN THE WAY SHE TEACHES BUT IF YOU ATTENDED CLASS, TAKE NOTES, AND DO THE HW NOT THE NIGHT BEFORE ITS DUE YOULL BE FINE, PRETTY STANDARD JUST HAVE PATIENCE WITH HER.
Taking this class, I thought it would be pretty straight forward. Sadly, I was mistaken. This professor is all over the place and doesn't give clear answers when asked about exams or homework. Attendance is mandatory. Be sure to do the homework as you go along, instead you'll be stuck doing it the night before. I would not recommend taking this.
Very unorganized and very scattered... Professor X is very smart and knows the material inside out but has a difficult time communicating it. She expects everyone to be a full blown logician by the third class. She gets frustrated very easily and sometimes feels like a high school teacher. Take only if you need to.
Professor X is a respectable professor. At times the delivery of course content can be confusing in class, but rest assured if you make yourself available during her office hours she will be more than happy to clear up your confusion and it saves your grade. In no way a bad professor just don't expect to sit there and excel just by ear, engage.
Very friendly, wants students to pass, truly cares about what she teaches, she loves questions and she's always in her office for more help, you need the book, you need to study moderately. not an easy A but not a hard class. I would take her again. hope this helped.
Loved her but you've got to study regularly for this class in order to pass. If you do the homework regularly, at least twice a week for about an hour or as long as you need to, you'll be fine. It really easy and simple if you do, the work is easy, it's just that you really do have to practice it in order to get it and ace the exams. Great teacher.
Many times you'll find yourself thinking rather or not you'll be able to finish all the homework in time and then be able to study for the exams. I suggest that if you can take it in person with her, do so. If you do not have the time, do NOT take this course online. The tests are not easy and this course is definitely not an easy A.
Amazing professor, during the first exam almost no one passed and she gave an extra credit worth 100 points and was willing to help us during the entire class. She makes you present which is a lil hard because it's complicated subjects and asks you question to see if you really learn but she was amazing she cared so much and helped me a lot.
Dr. Xerohemona is one of the best philosophy professors at FIU. She's truly a gem and will make every class she teaches an interesting one (I've taken 3 with her, no complaints). She's very generous, some would say even too generous. Very knowledgable about the subject and she encourages plenty of discussion. Take Logic and Language & Paradox too!
Took this class in the spring and did not like it one bit. Professor X is hard to understand and assigns all the homework assignments to be due all at once (the day of the test). It is A LOT of homework and there are only three tests. Only take if needed.
This is somebody who is very smart and really cares about and understands the content. She is a tough but fair grader: as can be expected with Philosophy classes, you need to be a very good writer and critical thinker. She doesn't take attendance but the class is enjoyable. She gets sad when people don't participate because she cares so much.
3 exams & 2 papers(less than a page). These five assignments make up your overall grade .Attendance is not mandatory however she lectures every class so try to attend a good amount of them because the book can only take you so far. Texbook is a must, cannot pass without it. Ms.X is nice, I recommend. took the class on campus during fall 2016
Honestly one of the best Ive taken. Attendance isnt mandatory but her class is so great you woulnt want to miss them, also tests questions come about 90% from class notes and they are not that hard if you re-read them with the study guide she gives. Amazing teacher, makes learning the subject enjoyable and easy the way she structures it.
I really enjoyed this class. It's a tricky subject I'm not going to lie but the professor was caring and very attentive. The only people who'll complain are the pre-law babies who aren't passing because they don't care. She gave a ton of extra credit because she saw people were struggling, and she provides office hours as well as outside tutoring.
She was so sweet! Sit in the front of the class. People who sat in the back complained they couldn't see the board, even though there was space near the front. It's a tricky subject but she provides the answers to the homework online and explains things so well. Read the textbook definitions & understand how to solve the problems before the exam.
She explained it really weird never really explained much either. She was very strict but didnt give enough assignments other than the homework.. I wouldn't recommend her..
Dr. Xerohemona is truly one of the best professors. I took her in the summer and she managed her time well and knew exactly what she was doing. Once you get over the accent, she explains everything so well, and will help you with any questions in the homework. She checks homework for completion before every test, and is very caring if you go to her
Professor X is by far one of the best I've had at FIU. I needed a math credit and took this course, since philosophy interests me. Logic is by far the most interesting class I ever took. She is so thorough in her lectures, very caring, and really wants her students to succeed. Do the homework, don't hesitate to ask questions, and you will do well.
Tests are mainly all true or false. Go to class and pay attention, you'll pass. Strong accent but easy to get over. Overall good professor
She's a sweet lady but to a lot of us, it was just such a boring topic. Most people didn't read so the class had a lot of big awkward silences for 50 minutes when asked questions. The tests are not hard but not easy true or false, 40 questions. Buy the book online. It would cost like $120-180 at school but about $20 used on amazon.
the homework load is reasonable, necessary, and not THAT bad, since you're learning a new subject it's expected. Doctor Xerohemona is a solid educator, genuinely cares, and is very knowledgable. she makes logic extremely interesting and graspable. way cooler than a numerical math course. overall awesome course, I highly recommend.
I took this professor for Intro to Logic and I loved her. Sure, there is a bit of homework, but really not that much (you only need to hand it in the day of the test so you can really do it at your own speed). If you don't go to class you won't pass because she explains everything in the lectures super clearly.
Professor X is clear about what she wants from the jump. She gives you until the day before each exam to turn in homework so just make sure you keep up with it. She emails you back very fast. Its a tough course, but as long as you read and complete the exercises you should be fine.
Clear syllabus. Heavy on homework. Lectures are long but useful. Tests are difficult but if you study and contact her she will be more than willing to help. Homework and questions on every chapter, three exams, and will provide extra credit.
She is very kind and understanding of her students. I took her in PHI2100 online and she answered everyone's questions thoroughly. You have to do the homework if you're going to want to pass. This is a math class after all, what do you expect. Do the homework and you'll be fine on the exam. She doesn't bite, just email her if anything.
Online course. 2 exams, 60%. Discussions Questions, 20%. Homework, 20%. I took this class for my UCC math credit. Lots of homework, lots of problems. This class drove me crazy. Logic is not easy. warning. You will have to study and practice a lot. Dr. X. Knows her stuff, but she could do a better job in communicating the material in movie lectures.
Interesting lectures. Requires students to participate in class discussions. Tests are TRUE OR FALSE and some multiple choice. Easy assignments.
this is a hard class, i thought it would be an easy math requirement. The class is literally japanese to me
Professor Xerohemona is super sweet and nice. Go to class since the tests are mainly on her lecture in class and the readings. There is homework but not so much that is overwhelming. She does her best to make you understand if you don't. Easy assignments and the tests are okay since it's true or false.
Dr.X is great. Her lectures in my opinion are very good. She is very detailed and likes to do class discussions which I found very helpful and interesting. She takes attendance randomly. Book needed since many of the readings come from it. Tests are difficult and tricky. Only take this class with her if you enjoy philosophy. A lot of reading.
The content itself is pretty difficult but she makes online videos for each lesson, explaining how to do everything. A lot of what she talks about on the videos is on the tests. She writes the tests herself so you definitely wont find the answers online. Doing the homework and watching the videos will give you an A.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS I BARELY PASSED LMAO shes nice and sweet but this class was japanese to me
The class is not easy but definitely passable if you show up to class & do the homework instead of coping. Half the people complaining about her are just lazy, never went and never tried doing any of the work themselves, you have to work for it. She's a great professor and teaches the material very well. She also cares about her students passing.
Theres only two logic professors at FIU and shes known as a better one so this is just a warning. She drowns you in work that is only worth about 10% of your grade (about 45 assignments) but then the tests are worth 60% of your grade and they are insanely harder than any other work or lectures she gives. Average test grade for my class is around 60
I thought she was really nice and kind. She even gave us a retake on one of our exams. She provided extra credit opportunities. As well, she held tutoring sessions every other week. She went as far as to provide her phone number where students could call any time they had an issue. I thought she was great!
Logic is a very complex and hard subject to learn. That being said, the class is passable if you do ALL the work, study on your own, and make study groups. B/c it was online I found it a bit harder than a traditional class. However, she is very fair and is kind enough to always help. Beware there is a group project due at the end!
Highly do not recommend. The course material is NOT easy, and this is coming from a straight A student. The homework is due for a grade before she finishes teaching the chapter, every single time- and there's a LOT of it. If you have time on your hands to focus, go ahead. But expect to teach yourself the work. Grading's a mess, so be ready to fight
She was very understanding and nice. I was very upset because I didnt get an A+ but if you read, watch her movie lectures and ask questions you will get a good grade. It is a difficult course but she is always there to help and answer any questions, she even gave me extra time to submit one homework. Would definitely take one of her courses again.
I took this class during the Summer Semester so it was a bit stressful with the time crunch however the class was manageable. The syllabus outlined everything we needed to excel and she provided Extra Credit. Some may say she is tough but she desires to see her students excel at the highest level which means no laziness will be tolerated.
NO, just no, had to take this class because of the Pre-Law certificate. I am an A student & she crams so much information in the tests, which by the way are cumulative, There are no study guides, when you ask a question she does not answer you, she expects you find the answer for yourself. She makes this class hard& admits to purposely confusing u
I'm terrible at math and was a little scared of taking this class. I took it as a freshman, my first fall semester and got an A. Although it was extremely challenging, Prof. X was an amazing teacher. You have to pay attention in class and study but it's worth it, the topic is super interesting once you understand it. I completely recommend her!
Xerohemona is a great teacher however the courseload in rigorous and if you dont consistently study, youll be completely lost. She grades based off of completion and makes attendance mandatory. No phone or laptops are allowed in class and shes always making people participate.
Took this class Summer A online & it was INTENSE. Heavy course load but an A is 100% doable IF you apply yourself! Not recommended for lazy students. Great professor but you WILL FAIL if youre not on top of your assignments. There are a lot of assignments due and you NEED TO BE consistent with them. Do NOT leave things for the last minute
Summer A online. Makes a complicated subject even more complicated. Instructions are all over the place and syllabus/handbook will leave you confused. Quizzes sometimes marked right questions wrong, which was frustrating so be on top of that. Video lectures are each about 1:30 hour long and vital for understanding the material. A is achievable.
Took this class online. HW was optional and counts as extra credit (was vital for my success in the course). A lot of assignments that help your grade in the long run if you bomb the exams. HEAVY course load for a 6 week class so get ready to be doing hw and watching lectures everyday. Good professor but probably wouldnt take again.
I love taking her, even though I have not taken Logic with her. I have heard that for Logic she can be hard. On the other hand, for non-logic philosophy classes she is arguably my favorite professor. I love the readings she gives and the discussions in class!
This is one of the most caring and understanding professors at FIU. There is a tonnnn of work and you have to hand write everything so it is very tedious. But she really does care and is willing to help you out and work with you but you have to communicate that you need help and be respectful. 10/10 would take this class again.
Dr. X cares about her students but the students need to be able to put in the work.
She is very passionate about the subject but is very critical of a student's view on a certain topic that may be wrong. Also participation matters! She gets very upset when people don't answer.
Prof X is lecture heavy and grades very things very hard, if you don't comprehend the readings you will be drowning in this class. Also, sharpen up on your presentation skills as you will be doing quite a few of them throughout the semester. She's very kind but if you want that A at the end of the semester get ready to sweat.
Prof X's intro to logic class is hard but I found that the book made things more confusing for me, her lectures are where I learned the concepts at better. Tutoring also greatly helps. She is understanding though and if you have an actual problem you can call her. There are too many questions in the homework sets so, be sure to do them early on.
So it is true, she is very difficult and critical of certain views, however: substantiation is key. She is not critical of something she cannot very clearly explain and she is a harsh grader, but provides you endless patience for questions and very helpful feedback. Take her higher level classes as higher level; you learning is the top priority.
Dr. Xerohemona is one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. HOWEVER, this class is extremely difficult as she is a tough grader. There is rarely any wiggle room in the class, one bad grade will knock you down and will be extremely difficult to bring back up. If you want to take this class, make sure you have extra hours to dedicate to it.
Watching Prof X's lectures are 110% necessary to pass this class. I took this online and there were 3-8 hours of lectures for each unit (3 units total). She very clearly instructs you to watch her lectures and then read the text and then do the homework. Tests are open book but if you don't take lecture notes you will have a bad time on the tests!!
The most demanding class I've ever taken; I felt like this was the class that would damage my 4.0 GPA (luckily, it didn't). The professor is a very tough grader so work on every assignment as if your grade depended on it (it does). Also, try to take this course on its own. It felt like it was three courses in one (but everyone is different).
This class is defiantly not one you can just half-ass and pass with an A. You really have to read the textbook, take good notes, participate in class, study. The professor is super accessible and responds to emails quickly. She sincerely cares about her student's progress and their understanding of the content.
worst teacher ever had most demanding and work heavy class ive ever taken handwrote 60 pages still didnt pass because of one of the exams 2 exams worth fifty percent of grade absolutely ridiculous
This is a very hard class that requires a lot of time and dedication. You really need to know the material to get a good grade on the exams. She is very nice and wants to help you. All assignments are mandatory if you want at least a C in the class.
Don't take a logic course with this professor unless you actually have a grasp on what logic is. Her class can be very difficult if you've never been exposed to the concepts of logic. Her tests are practically impossible to study for and honestly, logic is not a course that you should be investing 20 hours a week on. The workload is just excessive.
This was definitely the hardest class that I took this semester. I'm ok with a class being difficult but this teacher is not really willing to teach you much. The class is in person but you are expected to watch two video lectures a week and read the book. So, I don't really see the point of being in person if it will be conducted like it's online.
Super nice lady. She has an accent but you get used to it, and the lectures she gives are very informational with lots of notes to take. She answers any questions you have and does what she can to help you understand the material better. The material can seem confusing at times, but if you just show up to every class and take notes, you'll be good.
She has an accent but she tries to make the lecture interesting. The test is a bit tricky and hard so make sure to read the book or readings she assigns. Only perusall assignments and written work that is mostly two pages. She gives extra credit.
gives terrible instructions and does not care for students outside of class
As a person she is nice but she would assign 9 hours or so of lecture per week the first few weeks of class. Made things overly difficult for an intro class. Additionally, nobody ever got a 100 on ANYTHING. Would dock points on written assignments without explanation, even if the feedback for the assignment itself was positive. Save yourself
She is very old school and difficult to understand, writes all notes in class on a whiteboard, and has nothing to do with the homework assignments. You could just read what she posts, do the assignments, and pass with an A. It's not hard just tedious and her class puts you to sleep, and about 10 people show up to class.
Very hard lectures to sit through with this professor. She is very hard to understand due to her heavy accent along with the face shield and mask she wears every class. Tests make up most of your grade. If you take this professor, I suggest making friends with your classmates and finding someone who actually understands what she is saying.
She's okay but the lectures are very hard to sit through, very monotonous and not engaging at all. Lots of tedious homework and reading too. Her grading criteria is very odd and not well explained. Overcomplicated everything for it to be an intro class. For it to be only a requirement, this class took way too much of my time. Find another prof!
I actually found this fun, not your typical math class - maybe because my brain is on FM while others are on AM? Lol. But really, she's great and she offers extra credit. You adjust to her accent. She's more than willing to help her students. She cares and knows her stuff! I'd take her again if given the chance.
I couldn't hear her the whole semester bc she wore 2 masks and had the largest classroom. The textbook became my teacher. I wish I knew attendance wasn't mandatory bc I wasted so much time just sitting there bc she didn't teach. Student question-based teaching and handwrote notes, I didn't understand her handwriting. I only took her for my UCC.
Attendance is mandatory but you learn nothing in class. All work is done outside of class, including lectures. It might as well be an online class. Difficult to understand her handwriting. The textbook becomes your best friend and your teacher. Make sure you have something to take notes on, you'll need it. Tests are difficult and tests random stuff
Her homework assignments are worth basically nothing and graded by AI, so you have to do good on them but its worth basically noting, Just hard tests and writing assignments which she grades very harshly. No clear grading criteria until she gives you a bad grade and tells you what you should shouldn't have done after the fact. Hard to understand
Because Professor Xerohemona is such a nice lady, I feel bad saying this. It was just such a lecture heavy class that no one showed up to. There was no point in going to class because her lectures were online. Homework was easy but Portfolio assignments and Tests were insanely hard if you didn't read every article on canvas (there's tons of them).
I thoroughly enjoyed this course. Assignments and tests are based almost entirely on the readings and lectures. Although this class requires a lot of time and work, I feel I received a very high quality of education in return. Professor Xerohemona herself is very intelligent and caring, and she is willing to work with you if you put in the effort.
She grades portfolio assignments really hard and it is hard to understand her handwriting.
If you are a business major looking for an easy class to fulfill a requirement, don't take this class and if you are take it in the summer and online. The assignments are so time consuming and tedious. The professor is great and flexible when turning in assignments late but this class is more for people who actually find ethics interesting.
This professor is amazing; she explains everything and is always available to help, but the topic is very heavy and confusing. Do not take it Summer is very hard. Lots of assignments.
The professor can be tough, but engaging with the system helps. The textbook is essential, and unstuck ai was a lifesaver for exam prep. Attend class, take notes, and you'll get through this challenging yet rewarding course.
Guys…you gotta work in this class. I took it online so I had to watch the lectures. You can't chatGPT your way through the exams. You actually gotta work. Attend office hrs too to go over the exam, she sometimes made mistakes in the grading so that was good cause my grade went up. I had so many notes and practiced a lot lol.Kinda fun class in a way
Very kind professor however, this course was unnecessarily rigorous. If you have unlimited extra time, you're in luck. If not, get ready to spend 12-16 hours of your life studying monotonous material for a UCC math requirement. People calling out peers for 'lazy behavior' are reaching, this is supposed to be a core class..not a senior seminar.
I really though people were exaggerating when they spoke about how rigorous this class is but it really is no joke. If you have commitments outside of school or work, I would not recommend taking this professor. I already study 15 hrs every week with my other classes now with this class I'm averaging 25hrs, which is ridiculous for UCC intro class.
The professor herself is okay, tough grader. My issue is that her class is VERY dense and that her exams are a pain in the a**. On Thursdays you do a self assessment test, Friday you have the exam and on Sunday you need to post 3 discussions. If I had this class in person I would not wear the seatbelt on the way there from how much I hate it.
If you have to take this class for a math requirement or a pre-law req. please take another professor if you can. she takes forever to grade and this material is so difficult for no reason for an intro class.
Sweet lady overall, but for an introductory class, she's way too strict and expects too much time to be dedicated to this course. Although she's pretty accessible through email and office hours, exam scores can take up to 2 weeks or more just to not be able to see what was incorrect. Other professors are much more considerate than her.
She was good but it was waaay to much assignments. For my class she made a discussion board we needed to do weekly but she never said it was weekly almost everyone in the class failed, she is somewhat helpful and can give you second chances. TBH just do your work, read the syllabus and lwk just do ur work and you'll be fine.
Thought this class would be IMPOSSIBLE to pass simply due to the fact that she assigned too much homework and hard exams BUT I passed it was a B. The professor was understanding when you email her, if you watch her weekly lectures you'll be just fine.
For an intro class it was very hard and had a heavy courseload. There was 4 exams and each very hard due to timing and written responses. Professor took long to grade and we could not see what we got wrong. Interesting class but not worth the courseload and exam grading. Also, no one got higher than a low-mid B in her exams so that was frustrating.
