Terable teacher, gives homework everynight! Dosen't work with students unless he likes you. I don't recomend him at all.
If he doesn't like you, you have no chance of making it!
Not Helpfull to those he dosen't like. If your not in the in good luck on passing.
I happen to enjoy this teacher. He is hard, but you do learn a lot from him.
Hey if you have him, good luck and God bless. God is about the only thing that will help you pass, he sure wont.
He sucks
If you do not want to work hard then do not take this prof

This class is interactive...that means the students are basically responsible for preparing the material. Lots of work involved and lots of writing(which he is very strict on grading) I enjoyed it and learned alot, but don't take him if you are not interested in active participation and lots of writing.
Very strict when it comes to grading papers. Lots of writing, but you learn a lot. You shoud take him if want to improve your writing skills.
This is a very great teacher. He expects the best of his students, but provides all the tools to help you. If you are a slacker, stay away. If you really care about your education, take this class and you will learn alot.
I'm not going to lie, this class was REALLY hard and i busted my butt to get a B for the semester. However he does help you plan your essays and he makes you write a thesis and outline for every major paper. But he grades very strictly and is anal about MLA format. This is not a blow off class and you will do a lot of work
this teacher is very strict when it comes to grading his papers. He does give you all the tools you will need and is there to help if you need it. Pay attention and don't wait til the last minute to ask for help. Because of his great teaching, I was able to make a 98% on my final paper and not take the final. He is a great teacher!!
I've never seen more people drop a class before, myself included. Simply put, it's a lot of work. He's extremely kind, but a no-nonsense kind of guy. If you have the time to invest in the class, take it, but if you have another class that semester that requires a lot of work and time, I would STAY AWAY or save it for another semester.
eh... he's hard
hes really hard -_-
Mr. Adams is extremely understanding and goes out of his way to make sure that everyone is on the same track. He's energetic, patient, and very helpful when it comes to discussing topics. Class work includes: weekly online quizzes, mini essays, and several papers on a current event of the student's choice. Impossible to fail if you care to try.
this is the hardest teacher I have ever had! You have to read novals, read short storys, take quizs and write papers all at the same time.
Trys to rewrite your papers, NO LATE WORK even if you are sick, will say he will drop lowest grade but does not. Final not mandatory. He does try to understand where you are coming from and gives bad grade on good papers becuase you do not wirte it the way he would. Not a good teacher.
His class will only pay off at the end!! Only take this class if you like a challenge.
I like the tests BUT I do not like the way he teaches. He crams everything together and makes things stressfulon the student. You better be there b/c attendance is crucial he would not even let me make up any of the work even when I was sick. Honestly, what kind of professor is that!? I advise the students to take another professor unless you like a
Mr adams is the nicest person on the face of the planet. if you see him, say hi. However, his homework is stuffed together and you have to write ALOT of papers. Quizzes, participation, essays, annotated bibliographies, lab work, reading assignments, and current events have a tendency to be assigned all in one day. Avoid class if possible.
TOUGH HOMEWORK BUT GOOD TEACHER.
NOT WORTH IT.
Hes a horrible teacher, doesnt know what hes talking about. Doesnt leave room for any personal interpertations on papers or even in class. Belives hes the only class your taking, anal about grading. Please do not take him unless you absolutely have no life, and want to be bombarded with unneccesary assignments.
He is honestly a nice guy and he loves English. Cannot make up daily quizzes or papers. He crams homework, reading, research, quizzes, etc. and makes everything due on the same day. If you take him, you'll probably write about 8 or 9 papers and 5 annotated bibliographies. You'll pass if you do the work right, but don't take if you're lazy.
If you dont want alot of work to do...DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS...Its extremly hard and u'll end up dropping
too much work at one time, you cant even finish one thing before he gives you another!!
He is an excellent teacher if you are willing to put forth any effort. I had no idea how to write an essay or really much at all. I left his class a professional. I made an A pretty easily. If you aren't willing to work for your grade and learn, then this class is not for you.
CORRECTION: The comment below was NOT Hist, but Eng, my bad! :)
i have taken several classes from him the people w bad reviews just expect an easy teacher at a community college.its hard but just stay organized and keep up to date with the calendar. if you cant write go see him or the writing lab. if youre an english major take his classes they are just as hard as a university. and he knows SO much about lit
DO NOT TAKE HIM! It will be the greatest regret of your college career!
Definitely not worth taking this class...unless of course you WANT to fail, then that's another story. I enjoyed his lectures. Granted, there are several papers which is expected (it's comp. II), but he's very vague in his criticism of your work. He doesn't allow for much creativity within your papers. Overall, too much work and not enough help.
Must attend every class. If you have a moderate work load you can obtain a B or C. To get an A you must have a light work load and a lot of time & dedication. Extra credit is available. Mr. Adams gives an opportunity to rewrite the first few papers if they are turned in on time. If you ask for help he is willing to assist.
If you want to express your "creativity" and to write "freely", then take a creative writing course. Composition classes are the ABC's of grammar. So try not to get your undies in a twist if he does his job and grades you appropriately. I had him for comp II. Great professor. Knows his stuff. And is always willing to sit down and help you out.
GREAT instructor, I would take him any day. He is VERY helpful. You are required to do a lot but he tells you what is expected of you on the first day. Wish I was an English major and would take him for LIT.
Assigns huge loads of homework without thoroughly going through the harder things. A little unapproachable, but is willing to help.
OMG!!! I should have read the reviews better. This class requires so much work. Half the class has dropped and only about 4 have b's the rest are C's i asked him for help and he never helped me. I had a doctor's note and he still didn't let me make up my work. DONT TAKE HIM unless its your only class!!!
I took his American Lit class in the summer and it was a lot of work, a lot of reading. There are several grades taken so if you keep up its easy to maintain an A. This class has a lot of group discussion so if thats your thing its a grat class. I enjoyed it.
This man is a great teacher. He knows what he's talking about, and he's willing to help you if you're serious about it. There is definitely a lot of homework, but he's clear about what he wants. He may look unapproachable, but he's quite nice if you talk to him. Don't be scared of him, but don't take him if you're not a serious student.
He's very hard he will tell you from the start if your not willing to work drop this class. More than half of his students drop him and the ones that stay get Cs and Bs i think when i was there 1 person got an A so dont take him unless you wanna learn alot and work alot
Only take his Eng Comp II class if you really want to make your life complicated. He is a very nice man and pretty funny, but unless you want to be totally overwhelmed don't take his class. If you love analyzing the hell out of stories until you wished you couldn't comprehend English then be my guest, take his compII class.
Way more work than an average student is capable of. Very unclear of what he wants done in his assignments. Not helpful in the least. Moves his due dates around very often. Do not take this class unless you like failing. He does not have his masters degree yet, he is teaching at university level. he should be put on probation for faliure rates.
Mr. Adams assigned a lot of work, but always gave chances to rewrite. He was clear in instructions and thoroughly explained stories. He was HARD, but I learned a lot in his class. Not easy, but A's are reachable.
Ok teacher, but don't take this class unless you have a very light courseload! Assigns tons of busy work and a couple major projects.
Took his class in the summer and yes, there was quite a bit of work assigned, but if you are serious about your success it is possible to get an A or B in the class. He is helpful, but he will not give you all the answers because he cares about his students learning on their own.
This guy assigned too mch work for a six week summer1 class. He expected everyone to do so many papers and graded them like he was teaching a university level class! He expected you to know everything he was talking about even if it made not sense!
Mr. Adams is nice and helpful, but he is also one of the toughest English professors at TCC! He crams lots of assignments into one day a lot and gives too much busywork. You'll do A TON of papers and quizzes. If you have a full load, a hard class, or a job, or are lazy, STAY AWAY! If you can handle a beyond heavy workload, take him. I dropped.
If you are trying to coast through English Comp II, do take him. We have had a quiz every single day since the second week of class. He is very smart however. His lectures are not that boring, but not exciting. Have not done a lot of writing yet, but soon we will. Gonna shoot for a B and I will be happy.
If you are trying to make an easy 'A' in Comp II, then do not take his class. If you are an English major, this is your man. Assigns a ton of work. We have had a quiz every single day since week two. According to syllabus we have a ton of writing coming up. Although hard, he is very smart and a little funny. I'm hoping to make a 'B' in the class.
If you actually want to learn and develop yourself in college, then take Mr Adams. If you're just trying to earn a piece of paper, then take someone else. In this class, you can expect many essays, quizzes, and reading assignments. As it was mentioned before, this class is a real bargain. You get university quality at a community price.
If you have been out of school for a while or feel reluctant about school,Mr Adams will bring the spirit of schooling into you.He is very helpful and will let you catch up if you are behind and show efforts. He gives quizzes every class and all count. You have tons of papers/assignments to be corrected and to rewrite. This class alone is like 6credits
One of the best teachers you will find. Workload is reasonable but steady. Presentation of Literature was good. The process of preparing the research paper is a valuable and useful skill, if you plan to go further is school. This professor is straight forward and complete. Just follow the instructions and plan and complete your work.
Take Mr Adams hes the best Professor Ever hes Really HelpFul I Love Having him As A professor at first the class seems hard but he will help u every step of the way I Advice u TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice, smart guy, interesting lectures also. Took him in summer and it was Hard, great for reg. semester. Lots of writting but if put forward the efford will make good grade. Do not procrastinate with this guy! Give lots of extra credit, take advantage of it, No Regrets!
If you're wanting to take Comp2 as a summer course, do NOT take Mr. Adams. Yes, he is crystal clear with expectations but it is still entirely too much work. He's a great professor...Just not for summer.
There is homework every class but it's doable. It may seem like Mr Adams isn't very clear with his instructions at first but he keeps things ambiguous on purpose, he really wants the students to get involved in the work and ask questions. The hardest part is the project presentation but he's willing to help you every step of the way. Loved him!
Seem hard to begin with... But his class is doable, very organized, crystal clear with what he expects in his class... Follow instructions, do your assignments and you'll enjoy his class...!
Hardest teacher I ever had. It caused me so much stress and he put me down so much that I would walk out of the classroom in literal tears. You write no paper for the first half of the semester and then he has you writing two papers at the same time. Teaches at university level. Acts like this is the only class you have with the amount of work.
assigns TOO much work. FOR NO REASON. he wants you to pass his class -- too serious/passionate of his job. class discussions are interesting, ONLY IF YOU DID THE WORK. good luck. dont take this class as a summer class unless you want a challenge
This is the best instructor ever!!! Yes he gives a lot of work but it is easy work. You definitely learn a lot from his class and he has an open door policy if you need help.
This instructor gives a lot of work, but it is not hard work. It can seem overwhelming at times but it is definitely a way to learn to be organized. He is an amazing instructor and very helpful.
He's a great teacher, but sometimes gives way too much work for no reason. Start on his work ahead of time and you should be fine.
Asked for clarification on some assignments i did not understand, he still was not clear on what to do. If i asked again, he seemed to be bothered that i did not understand. Assigns a lot of homework (Reading, Essays) Quizzes almost every other day. If your major is English or Lit, then this is the perfect teacher. If not, get ready for hard work.
its his way or the highway, if you can take someone else, when writing papers your opinions are irrelevant
If you are looking for an easy A, this is NOT the class for you. He is a tough grader. Nevertheless, once he begins to teach, it is amazing what you learn from old, boring literature. I am sure he knows he is a tough grader because he always gives and easy extra credit.
If English is not you passion do yourself a favor, take another class. He is a nice teacher, but he gives way too much work. You will see all of the other positive reviews and think as I did- "huh, this seems fun, a little challenging but fun" and then you will be crushed beneath the weight of the workload he provides you.
Do not take him, i will never forget I completed a 4 page assignment. His instructions were very unclear however he gave me a fat ZERO as if I did nothing. I never met a professor so strict, and as for help, throw that out of the window he does not care. Unless you are great at reading between the lines, do not waste your money and take his class
This instructor is not hard at all. I am not sure why other people say he is (probably because they wanted the grade handed to them). Mr. Adams is ALWAYS available in his office to assist students. I met with him several times to go over my papers. If your score is low on an essay he will allow you to re-write. He does give hw but its not hard.
He is a tough grader but very thorough and gives a lot of help if you do not understand. He does allow rewrites on papers but not on plagiarized papers.
Mr. Adams is a great teacher. He goes into detail on helping you analyze the work assigned. He gives lots of opportunity to get extra credit, the extra credit is worth it, so I recommend doing them. He gives clear feedback on how to improve on an essay. He gives you an opportunity to fix your mistakes to get the grade you deserve.
Great teacher really but this class is anything but an easy A! Tons of reading! But I loved the way he taught us to really analyze every story. You must attend class to pass! I missed a week due to my brother graduating the Marines and never recovered. Essays must be submitted online plus a hard copy during class so I was unable to make it up.
Not consistent or clear on expectations for papers and assignments.
Prof. Adams is the head of the English board at tcc southeast, You will have at least 12 papers to finish and they are graded harder than you could imagine. He is very picky about how you write your paper and they will cause you to fail. BUT if you show initiative and try hard to pass he will work with you and make sure you pass with at least a C+
A lot of reading and he gives quizzes on each story you read. he has three papers to write and one research paper.
He was a really good professor it was just difficult to keep up with the work.
Tough grader especially on essays. Expects you to test over the reading material and know exactly how he analyzes it.
Prof Adams was a pretty good professor, you can tell he really likes what he teaches. There's SO many essays though and he'll find even the smallest things in your rough draft for you to change. Lots of quizzes, but he lets you do extra credit by figuring out riddles (they're really simple, don't worry). Other than that, I had a good experience.
He is a tough professor, but he also cares. There is a lot of reading, and we have to analyze and quiz over everything. There are a lot of opportunities for extra credit, there were even opportunities to get 20 extra points on some quizzes. As long as you stay organized and on top of your work, you will be fine.
Mr. Adams will teach you a lot that you would need to know especially in planning and writing a professional essay. Readings and writing papers are a must for participation in this class and he is very helpful and nice to everyone when they ask a question. Overall he wants to see his students succeed, and personally recommend him.
English 1302:You can tell that he cares about what he teaches, but its just too much reading and quizs just about every class period. This class requires more time than my A&P1 class. Other wise I would have roughed it out, but there is just too much over lap in assignments. Get ready to dedicate your life to English.
He is the hardest and the most confusing professor I've ever had. Tough grader too. My papers are usually an A or A- in ENGL1301 and in other classes but when it comes to him I literally got a 23... I wanted to run into a door after seeing the grade I got on my first paper.
Kirk Adams is the worse professor ever. He doesn't give specific instructions, and when you ask him questions he doesn't help you try to understand. He wants you to do it all on your own. So, If you are trying to teach yourself I recommend taking his class. If you want to learn then I recommend taking another professor. He grades very hard as well.
On a weekly basis you write a paper, 30 pages to read, 4-5 short story and discussions, and either an annotated bibliography or another major paper or essay every other week. Instructions are mostly unclear, leaving other students and myself confused. Good luck not having a rough class on top of this, you will struggle even if by a little.
I took American Lit in the summer and I'm glad it was my only class. It was so much work! He is good at getting grades entered quickly. He didn't give feedback on every assignment which I did not like but on the essays he did. Was not very clear in his email responses to questions I had either. But I could tell he loves what he teaches.
There are approximately 10 weekly assignments to complete, all reading-heavy and drawn out for no reason, and I didn't learn anything I hadn't learned from high school eng. The instructions for everything are unclear and he grades essays as if you were a PhD student when this is a freshman level English class. Save your money and take another prof.
I never recommend this professor to anyone ,He is so picky and never give to chance to redo and never give extra help for any assignments. strict about everything this class will take your whole term and you have 99% chance of failing the class because he is so picky about the work and gives everyday assignments which is not able to understand .
Im sure after reading the reviews for yourself you can see how consistently bad this class is. Anytime I had a question he would email me back with a question leaving me even more confused than before. I do not recommend anyone to this class. Definitely not qualified to be the English head. Rethink your choice before taking this class.
I took Mr. Adams for online school and struggled to get an A. His email responses to questions were not clear most of the time but, his lectures were great and informative. He is a tough grader especially on the little things however, he allows retries on essays if you fail which is a huge blessing.
Yes, Mr. Adams is a hard teacher. He is demanding, but he will meet you online and help. He let's you know what is expected. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to do college because I couldn't write. He taught me how.
Please listen to me. DO NOT take this class. It was honestly the most stressful class I have ever taken; he grades way too hard. His responses to emails are also terrible. After a certain point, you just want to give up because he gives you zeros even if you try really hard on an assignment. Like bro... not even ten points for the correct heading?
Yes, he's tough, but you really learn the material. I feel like I'm leaving class with something useful, and I can't say that about every teacher here. He's really passionate about what he teaches.
Had him last semester for British Literature I, and it was stressful. He has high expectations for what he wants on assignments, and it was hard for me because I have not been exposed to a class like this in a while. However, he did teach me how to write well, and it gets easier to write after a while. Good class, never taking it again though.
one of his assignments had an average class score of 20. unclear grading. will suddenly take off points for stuff he didnt last week. several assignments per week, all writing. only good thing is tests taken outside of class on a scantron. difficult assignments. some of my friends had to drop their math class to accommodate for this class
If you are a full time student taking 3-4 classes I wouldnt take him. Lots of work to do and he is very tough with his grading. You wont really learn anything that you didnt learn already in school. Big waste of time. dont take him.
DO NOT TAKE HIM if you are taking more than 2 other classes. I am taking him with four other classes, and it has been horrible. Not only are there at least 3 assignments each week, but the grading is all over the place. If you want to cram a lot of credits in one semester, make sure you do it with anyone other than this guy. The only plus is exams.
If you are not already a good writer be prepared to struggle a lot. There's also a lot of work, over 60 assignments ranging from short discussion boards to longer journals and essays. He takes off for a lot of small things, but you will eventually get the hang of how to handle each assignment. I did enjoy the material, just too much work.
British Literature 1 was overwhelming. Many assignments you have to do per week, always reading and writing. You get used to it overtime but I would not recommend taking his class with 3+ other classes. A tough grader but provides a decent amount of extra credit points for assignments. A decent teacher overall, but I would not take him again.
Prof Adams was an excellent teacher. His class is very durable as long as you are committed to do all the works before it is due. He is very flexible and offers extra credits through workshops. He responds to emails ASAP which was very helpful. I really enjoyed his class and I'm sure you will too!
While I do think he does go into great detail in what we learn, the amount of homework in the class is insane. Discussion boards and Journals and various other assignments per week, some of which he never specifies a due date until it suddenly pops up and you're awake at 3 am grinding an assignment.
Good professor and takes the time to help on essays. There is a lot of reading for class, but he makes it enjoyable and understandable. He also has clear outlines and rubrics to make writing essays easy. Do the extra credit workshops in your free time!
