He does NOT teach, it's more like he's just talking to himself!
boring class, nice teacher, I thought it was easy!
he writes everything he says in paragraph form on the board, DO NOT take him!
He tells his students to drop the class before the first test
so cute and nice
He is very cute and on fire about Stats!
Some people refuse to admit that he's cute, but he looks just like Kirk Cameron!
cute and easy
HE IS NOT CUTE AT ALL!!! YOU PEOPLE ARE SICK!
very cute...he is young and hot!
It is annoying how he writes everything out! Watch out for LURKING VARIABLES!
The class is easy, he is young and very energetic. Cute too!
I could not write enough about his hotness and Statistical SKILLS
I enjoyed everything about this class, especially the professor :)
Good teacher, nice guy, cute as sin
He is hotter than a fried egg on asphalt in the middle of July
His statistical skills are top-notch!! A real wowza...
Easy class but so BORING.. i felt like i was learning 1st grade stats & not cute
No Comments
Gets very frustrated; moves too fast for students who are truly trying to learn
No Comments
Basically talks to himself in front of the class, is NOT cute at all!!!
About time, very clear and thorough. Very energetic, it is fun just to watch him
Very fast professor, would rather students assist slower learners.
NOT HOT!! talks to himself and not class...doesnt care if you understand
knows his stuff
very very very very easy...i learned this stuff in 7th grade
Great prof
works too fast for all students that do not know the material to keep up with, i myself know this but many other don't!
Not the greatest prof, but better than most
Sweet little hottie
No Comments
I laugh at him everyday because I know how to use my calculator way better than him. If you have any interest in math, like me, I have already taken calculus, you will learn absolutely nothing.
He's very cute and smart but the class is boring
Great teacher that knows his stuff. Uses good examples and gives tons of notes that make all his exams pretty easy if you study and make crib sheets. Final is a piece of cake.
Awesome Prof!! Very helpful and a nice guy. Material is presented clearly with many notes which makes the tests easy. I would recommend him!
GREAT professor. Understands most students in his class are not math majors. Not the most approachable professor, but thats alright. Went in hating Stats, left with a B+. Thanks Kirk!
Smart and cute!
Kirk is wonderful. He teaches great in a way for u to understand. I fell the class once then took him and got a B+. I understand the material now. make sure u do the homework and ask questions, don't feel embarrassed a lot of people have trouble.
I hate stats but I love Kirk!! He is young and cute and helpful.
Good professor but seems to not really like student's questions. Otherwise a nice guy.
Good teacher to take, do the homework and take notes they will help a lot. Yeah for crib sheets!!
Kirk makes hilarious comments toward people. Take notes and if you pay attention he might just amuse you. If you ask stupid questions, then you will be the butt end of the comments. Easy class and cool guy.
there's homework, but he doesn't check it ever. quizzes and tests are a little challenging, but you get to have a cheat sheet for all of them (even the final). great prof, just pay attention, ask questions if you're confused, and find out how easy stats
Easy class if you like math. I never had a calculator (borrowed his for exams) and never had the textbook. Save money on the textbook and just use the powerpoint sheets off the department folder (Utts CD). Kirk is good, but doesn't answer q: clearly.
He was really willing to help out, even when you were taking tests and quizes and were stumped. As long as you attend class there shouldn't be any reason you don't get a B+ or A... I have heard horror stories about stat 215 classes, but he is AWESOME!!!
I skipped class probably more than half the time, and never did any of the homework.. not the best advice, but my point is its an easy A. He's a nice guy and makes the material easy to understand, I would Highly reccomend taking this course with kirk.

I go to class everyday, and don't pay attention, and I don't own the book, and it's an easy A still. Kirk does not like explaining things to slow people and he talks a mile a minute.
Kirk is the man!
EASY EASY EASY! A....the only bad thing is he teaches math with powerpoint...i dont know about you but i need examples and math with powerpoint...not really helpful..But if you are not great at math take this class and with him you will do so fine..
kirk talks waaay too fast, teaches with powerpoint, which is kinda boring and difficult to understand, and is somewhat moody. you can never pay attention and ace every quiz and exam if you know how to use the formulas.
Never even use the book. If you pay even the slightest bit of attention and do well on the group homeworks, it's an easy class. You get to use a crib sheet on the tests and the final, so nothing to memorize. EASY!
Easiest class I've taken in college. Don't buy the book, don't do suggested hw problems, don't show up in class unless you have a quiz or an in class assignment. Let's you take quizzes in groups. Crip sheet on tests. An easy A!!!
simply put, the best prof at GVSU, hands down.
Very understanding about student's lives outside of class, willing to try to help you out if something comes up.
Alright teacher. Tries to pack too much information into lectures/handouts, etc. Handouts were more in-depth and cryptic than the textbook, making studying a pain. Tests ended up being really easy though. Funny how that works out. Graded homework assignments worth a lot of points--good practice.
Tries to make a pretty boring class relatively interesting. Sadly, he usually falls pretty short. Having had him before though, I know he's always helpful if you see him during office hours. Homework is worth a ton. Definitely go to class if you plan on learning anything... don't skip. Ever.
Easy class. Do the homework he assigns, even though it seems so unnecessary. By far the easiest tests I've ever seen in statistics.
Easy class!! makes the class as easy as it can possibly be. The homework is definitely helpful, just DON'T talk in class!! He get's a little annoyed!
He is an awsome professor. He made stats so easy. He gives you handouts that explain how to do everything. You don't need the book. He makes hard concepts really easy to understand. He's super cute too! Take him you'll be happy you did.
Hard concepts. But Prof Anderson makes the concepts easy. TAKE THIS STATS 215.
Great prof. I loved his class. He was very helpful. The class was pretty easy and he made stats easy to understand. Take him!!!
He is an idiot. He gives handouts that are harder to understand than the book. He treats students like they are still in high school. If you are into that sort of thing, go for it.

easy class skipped a bunch of them but was still able to understand. very helpful. easy tests on 1 subject at a time.
aweful, arrogant (he's summed up by this)
Kirk is an excellent professor. He explains the material very well and gives you a lot of handouts that covers the material. You dont really have to read the book because he explains it in his powerpoints but the book is a good reference to have and is necessary for all homework assignments. Take Prof. Kirk...he's the best!
Recommended. Goes through the material slowly, so if you understand things quickly, it can be painful at times. Easy class. Powerpoint notes are so detailed, you don't even have to read the book.
Very clear, very organized. Does not have a ton of patience for students who do not even try. Is very explicit and very good at what he does. He knows how to present introductory statistics in a way that most people can understand. If you miss class a lot or don't do homework on time he can be very cutting. Good prof. I recomend him.
Very animated professor. He does what he can to help everybody and is very knowledgable in his field. A bit quirky. Overall, good prof.
Do the homework as best as you can and pay attention. Do the practice exam the night before the actual exam and you'll do great. PS You need the book for his class, sorry.
Extremely helpful. He wants everyone to get a good grade and shows that by thoroughly going through everything. I'm horrible at math and I got an A in the class. Boring most of the time, but prepares you well for homework and tests. Test reviews are pretty much the same as exams. Definitely take him for this class. He's really nice, too.
It seems like he did not know what he was doing. Class was dull, labs being the worst. It would actually be nice if he taught during the labs. He's an okay guy, but just doesn't know how to teach 216.
He is a descent guy but just doesn't know how to teach 216. Labs were a drag, and classes weren't any better. He seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. If you take him, be prepared to be bored.
wonderful prof. made the 6 weeks fly by. I'd tell everyone to take his class in the summer. A in the class and I've had to repeat every other math class i've taken.
If u attend class and pay attention this class is great. If u have questions he is always willing to help. Basically in this class good attendence=good grade.

Anderson is a great prof for STA 215. I'm definitely not a stats fan, but I thought he was perfectly clear, and if you don't get something, his door is usually cracked. Good sense of humor, too.
Prof. Anderson's a good prof to take for 215. His lecture notes are pretty good and the homework really helps you make sure you know what you're doing. If you have any questions, he's always willing to answer them. Practice exams give you a really good idea what's on the exams, and the exams aren't too difficult. I'd definitely take him again.
He is a helpful professor. Very enthusiastic.
Kirk is a good guy. He is very willing to help during his office hours. He tries to make statistics as fun as they possibly can be. He's got a sense of humor. Take him for 215 highly recommended.
Had this guy almost two years ago, but I would have to say he really knew what he was teaching. Pay attention in class and you will never have to read the book. Highly recommend.
I cannot emphasize how great Professor Anderson is. I had always struggled with math until this class. He teaches the material in interesting and understable ways. I actually wanted to go to class.
i really enjoyed having this prof. for stats. doesn't assign any more homework that what is needed, he is easy going and worked with me when i was having schedualing problems. highly reccomended
TAKE STA 215 with Kirk like your life depends on it! He is exciting, dynamic, funny, and an all around great teacher. Light homework load--he stresses on understanding, not memorization. He will help you WHENEVER you need it. You want an A? Take Kirk. I am thinking about starting a Stats minor just because of this guy
Kirk is incredibly enthusiastic about statistics, and he also genuinely cares about his students doing well. He clarifies everything and makes it super easy to understand, and he's always willing to help out if someone has a problem.
Kirk Anderson was great. Extremely good communicator, very clear and very fair. If you can get his class, you are very LUCKY!
Best math professor I have ever had. I got an A which is amazing for me. He was very fair and super nice and helpful, I always knew what I was doing and actually was interested in the subject and never got bored during class. He's that good. take him.
Excellent professor! Anderson is very clear, funny, and really has a passion for statistics. Take him if you can!
Attendance is not mandatory but trust me when I say if you don't go to class you will be lost and won't do well!! If you go to class homework and exams are simple! take him if you can!!
I'm 99% confident that this guy is between one of the best professors and a bearded badass.
It's annoying when he makes a slight example out of you in front of the class, but that's the worst I can say about this guy. I learned WAY more in this course than I did in my high school course, AND I understand what I'm doing (again, an improvement). Take him if you need to take STA 215. He will make it easy for you to learn.
Very good prof who knows what hes talking about, and is entertaining too. I learned a lot! Pay attention during his lectures because he calls on people and f you don't know what he's talking about, he knows and plays on that. Great class and a great prof
I based my choice for my Stat prof off of these ratings. Well I found out that those comments are all garbage. He is probably the only Stat prof at GV that doesn't allow you to use a note card on his exams. He also rushes through lectures, and is typically late and unorganized. My advice, take a different professor.
he's helpful but seems timid and is really nitpicky about stuff. class is rather boring but easy.
He made understanding statistics so easy, it became boring. He's a great prof and knows his stuff, is helpful in office hours and knows his material.
Not too difficult. Very nit picky and will take off points for tiny mistakes even if you get the correct answer. Very energetic and really wants everyone to understand and love stats as much as he does. Gives exam reviews that are exactly like the exams. Easy B, with slight work and some cramming, easy A.
I got this prof because of the good reviews on here. He wasn't great. Never shows up on time, didn't know the material well, and takes points off in lumps of 2, 4, or 6. Poor lecture style.
Professor is what any normal college student would want out of a professor. He is very respectful, willing to explain things further and very available in office hours. Not a crazy amount of homework and exams were not bad by any means. Solid professor overall.
Short and simple: Take him if you have the chance.
A very nice, funny guy. The homework assignments are very difficult if you do not put a lot of time into them. He is a fair guy, will round your grade if you have issues. I liked him a lot.
He's not always the clearest when teaching, but he's very easy. He helps as much as possible, gives you all of the steps and formulas on the exam. He's extremely passionate about what he's teaching and its interesting to listen to him.
Great professor and great class. I highly recommend Kirk.
Do not take his statistics in the media, STA 340, course if you only wish to check off your issues course. It is not interesting enough to justify taking. This class has so much busy work and extra assignments that it has caused me to write this review 4 weeks in. As a professor he is decent, however, he should not be teaching this course.
Had him for the honors section. We hardly had any history quizzes. There is a partner history paper but you have all semester. Good at explaining and cares about his students. Easy texts and homework. I feel like I learned the content, but did not struggle at all to do so. I would suggest attending lectures, but it is not mandatory.
He's a good prof. Knows what he's talking about and is very nice when you ask him questions. Lack of participation bugs him, but not past the point he'll get irritable. The only problem people have with him is that his class is so relaxed that they don't go, then they get bad grades, which has nothing to do with him.
Great professor! Truly one of the best professors I have had at Grand Valley State University. While you do have to purchase an online textbook, as long as you show up to class and listen to his lectures, you are able to easily pass the class without reading the textbook. He's a great lecturer and truly cares about his students. I highly recommend!
Great prof. He is helpful and engaging. He's also easy on the eyes which is a bonus.
He makes the class easy. As long as you show up to class and do the homework you will get an A!
Prof Anderson was one of the absolute best professors I have had in college. He has a straight forward schedule and assignments that are what we cover in class. As long as you show up to lecture you will be totally fine. Textbook is necessary because there are certain homework assignments using the book questions.
He explained every lesson in extreme depth. We typically got through 2 examples per 75-minute session. He was super willing to help you through your homework or during the lecture. Just not the best course to take online because of the calculator and it is hard to show him writing examples on BlackBoard, but he did the best he could.
This is Kirk's first time teaching this class, but I think he did a fair job. Lectures are a little messy, but he listens to student feedback intensely, so if you ask for more time on an assignment or clarification, he will help you out with no hesitation. Super nice guy.
I'm a straight-A student but barely got the minimum grade allotted to pass our program. His recorded lectures are SO hard to follow and his in-person lectures are extremely long and monotonous. His grading scale is impossible to figure out. He would offer to help over email or office hours but then give you such confusing answers it never helped.
Professor Anderson is great, just be prepared to put in a lot of work if you take this issues class. You do group work with 3-4 classmates who you are randomly placed throughout the entire semester. If you don't like group work, definitely don't take this class bc it's a large component of it. Textbook is needed to do the homework.
He is a very friendly guy. Most of the semester is compiled of quizzes and homework assignments. He offers extra credit and the only major test is the final exam. He has the whole semester planned out from the first day of class all due dates and assignment clearly laid out.
Professor Anderson is amazing. I was super nervous about taking stats, but he made it so easy for me. He gives really good lectures and if you take good notes you are all set for the quizzes. He is super caring and is willing to answer any questions you have and gives good feedback. I definitely recommend him.
I LOVE PROF ANDERSON! So caring and passionate- I have never met someone so passionate about surveys. There is one group project working with a client to develop a survey for their needs, and this is worked on all semester. It's daunting at first, but prof is there with advice and feedback every step of the way. Take this class!
He is my favorite!! 340 was a fun and interesting class. The whole thing is done in your assigned group so you could get screwed by that, but every assignment has a peer eval if you need to flame em. It's easy if youre a stats major but if not, if you pay attention you can absolutely do well. He gives you everything you need & is super passionate.
Prof Anderson has so much passion for his classes--it makes his lectures really fun. Reading the textbook is only kinda necessary. The only problem I had was the amount of homework. It was hard to keep on top (and often felt unnecessary,) however, his tests were really easy and required little to no studying. (stats 340)
Very nice guy. Class wasn't difficult and he made the statistics pretty easy to understand. Accommodated me when I was unable to attend an exam and even reached out when I forgot to submit a large homework assignment. He clearly wants his students to succeed and always repeated or reexplained things if we requested. Also provided good study guides!
I loved Professor Anderson. He does lecture the whole class so that does get boring at times. But he teaches the material very well and makes it very easy to understand. He is very enthusiastic about statistics. If you answer his questions (very easy) he will love you. This class was extremely easy. The final is not cumulative.
Prof. Kirk is a great teacher! Class can be somewhat boring, as he often over explains topics. However, this makes the material very easy to understand. Any questions you have will be answered thoroughly, and the homework assignments dont take long at all. I am not a math person, but I actually really enjoyed this class.
I loved Kirk! He was very passionate about this class and took the time to make sure every student understood what we were learning about. There is a group project that takes up a majority of the class, but it is not very difficult and not stressful at all. As long as you show up and do the easy assignments you will do great.
Was a great teacher! Understood that this was a baseline class for statistic. Also his lectures and notes were very easy to understand as well as his test.
Professor Anderson is an enthusiastic and caring teacher. His lectures are easy to follow, and the material is straightforward. With regular attendance and completing the homework, this class is manageable. I found unstuck ai and the free textbook to be helpful study tools.
The material is quite easy to digest and he does a good job of explaining things. If you are a stats major, I would recommend skipping out on buying the textbook; It was $80 and I never opened it. Proff was good but sometimes it felt like there was some unecessary homework. The class is interesting and the final project can be pretty fun.
Kirk Anderson is a great guy, I've taken several classes with him and hes awesome. He really cares about his students and about teaching. He loves answering questions and will help you when you need it. Just go to class, pay attention, and do the work and you'll do fine.
