He gives a lot of work for the class.
Lot of homework. He's know a lot but his lack of enthusiasm is demoralizing
Good professor, extremely helpful with projects, not very approachable though.
Rarely spends much time in class, I leard nothing from him. He likes to talk about being a published author too much.
His fave subject is himself. For this class, submission of stories to magazines was required. We filled our envelopes and stamped them, he was supposed to mail them. He never did. That's bad mojo.
Goes off on tangents a lot. Spends whole class periods talking about himself (politics, being chased by a bear...) Was more interested in how the paper looked than it's content.
WHEN A DISABLED PERSON GOES TO HIM WITH THE BLUE PAPER HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT HIS ROLE IN GETTING THE PERSON THE HELP THEY NEED IN BEING SUCCESSFUL IN THE CLASS ROOM.
He knows a lot about writing. It's nice to takea class from a guy who'is been published. Helped me out of class one time for about an hour on a letter to get into OSU. I got in. He's real cool.
All around good egg. He helped me a lot.
Sigurdson wrote me a letter of recommendation that helped me geta position on student council. He definitely rocks.
Kirk is a non-teacher. He was never prepared for class. His syllabus directly contradicted his instructions. Kirk became visibly irritated when the class agreed that they didn't understand a concept and asked him to explain it. He spent hours of valuable class time relating stories about Bigfoots. He wasted my time and money.
We got to read Hunter S. Thompson. He look like the singer from the offspring. He passed me based on the quality of my work, not the quantity. All in all, he was pretty cool. But he can waste an entire class talking about his hunt for sasquatch.
interesting character. he likes talking about himself a lot and the books hes published, wears dolce and gabanna glasses...must be well off. yeah... but very self absorbed
This guy is more interesting than most professors. He knows how to make class go by fast. He also is very good helping you if you don't know how to do something. I learnt alot. I already told my friend to take his class this term.
Fun assignments, he lectures sometimes. The book is cool. He is lLikeable and sometimes very intense (in a good way.) I might major in English now, partly because of this class.
Sigurdson did not achieve what he could have as ateacher as he didn't really push the class collectively. Assignments were simple and easy, admittedly what slacker students want, but not the goal for academics. If you want a simple class go with him,if you want to be challenged look elsewhere.
Kirk is probably the most laid back instructor I've ever had. Fun class with lots of laughs. My only slight qualm was his class was a bit unorganized- the syllabus handed out was so full of typos and wrong due dates that he decided to redo it, and a few of the assignments were unclear. Overall great instructor though.
I have one thing to say about Kirk; he is a sasquash loon, three of his lectures were about the sasquash "phenomena." He likable though.
I like this teacher. He's is very nice and takes the time to go over things I don't understand. He is also fun to watch in the lecture part. Some days he seems like a comedian. More teachers here at PCC should be as fun to listen to.
I will give it a chance... however, class was cancelled (and closed on a holiday) during a short term, and the overall attitude seems to be one of serious disinterest. The in-class assignments are vague, and they change in midstream. Possibly switched from coffee to Sanka.
This class was terrible. He was a bad teacher. Lectures were him telling lame stories. He gave us stupid assignments like "go outside and find an object to research." While we all did this he would finish grading our homework.
Not easy to get ahold or ask questions of. Interesting outlook on writting.
Teacher talks a lot and thinks he is teaching but he's just blabbing. he knows some stuff but he is a really unfair grader. one of his topics was to reflect halloween, so you were supposed to write how a ghost harassed someone. He had me rewrite my paper twice and still gave me a poor grade for a B+ A- paper. he is happy with his athority.
Does not require a lot of daily writing and the amount of required reading from the textbook is low. You need to attend class regularly to do well as he likes to have in-class group assignments.
I think he means well, but I feel that he was not engaging enough at times. Too much time was spent watching movies and writing on them afterwards. An easy lesson plan. He should attempt to meet with each student and point out their strengths and shortcomings. If you're looking for a challenge, even a modest one, you may want to look elsewhere.
Kirk was a cool teacher. Extremely laid back!!! As long as you turn everything in and fall the books guidelines you will do well.
I found Kirk to be extremely helpful and nice. His teaching is aimed at helping people who are motivated but if you are not motivated you will probably still get a fairly good grade. If you work hard it will pay off for sure. I did, and I learned a lot.
Kirk is a very knowledgable instructor when it comes to teaching students how to write quality essays. If I made an appointment to see him during his office hours, he would be there to give me the help I needed, as he really connects with his students. He is a motivated individual whom I could talk to, to get my essay assignments top notch written.
Hello fellow students, Kirk Sigurdson is a very good instructor. He will engage you, challenge you, and best of all-motivate you to learn and do your best. He may come across as being a little quiet, that's only because he wants students to ask questions so they can learn and do well. If you do all of the in-class / homework, you will earn an "A".
Kirk gives good instuction and good assignments. If you do all of the work and turn everything in on time, you will recieve an "A". He was always able to see me during office hours or even after class if I had questions. He is knowledgeable with the course taught and may give an extra credit assignment. I highly recommend him if you need WR class.
Kirk Sigurdson is a bright, knowledgeable, encouraging and motivating instructor who earned a NYU teaching degree. He has taught english successfully for many years, and always helps you to succeed. If you go to class, study hard, do the homework, you will earn an A. He is also available to you on a one to one basis at his office during his hours.
Awesome teacher and very entertaining! He does a good job at balancing work and fun.
Great subject matter in his class; 911 Theories; Fascism to Totalitarianism shift in America; EHMs. Cool guy and a fun class.
Singurdson was a good teacher. He is engaging and fairly entertaining, but he is pretty scatterbrained and unorganized. What I don?t understand is how I had an A on every assignment as well as a bunch of extra credit, and still ended up with a B? I did like how he focused the class on controversial and new topics which made it interesting.
I honestly love the guy, but he is a horrible instructor. He is a published author, but it's pretty evident that his heart is not into teaching. His lack of enthusiasm and organization is demoralizing. I feel bad for him and the students who waste time in his classes.
He is a bit of a scatter brain, but a good guy
Kirk really bends over backward for student who are motivated even just a little. Hes the only prof I ever had who gives his personal cell phone number to the class to make sure everbody is clear on assignment. I meet with him before every class because writing is not my deal. A super cool teacher if youget to know him. I am learning alot!
NEVER TAKE ONLINE CLASSES WITH HIM. His classes are unclear. Every student online tried contacting him and he was just gone for about a week and a half. No one understood anything in this class because all his dates are screwed up. I will never take online classes again thanks to him. HE IS AN AWFUL TEACHER> if you can call him one at all
Pretty much all the bad things said in the negative reviews are true.
I took the WR 121 online class last term. Segurson got right aback to me when I emailed him and the writing assignment on 28 Days Later was cool. I think he is a solid teach who cares about making sure his students do the best they can do.
Kirk Sigurdson did not teach me how to write a winning scholarship essay. He gave unclear and conflicting information. I recommend against taking an online class from him.
This online class started off strong and Kirk seemed interested in the class. As time went on, however, he became very absent. Responses were extremely slow, and assignments were unclear. He changed the date of our final project to a week earlier with almost no notice. His feedback on my final assignment was one sentence. He needs to try harder.
this One credit class was really good. I wrote some scholarship essays that Kirk helped me perfect. I am happy with them and he helped me whenever I had questions. he's an all around good egg.
if you do the work, you will do well. Mister Sigurdson is nice and answers your questions fast online. Best class I ever took with my computer at home. I liked the class conversations about goverment bailouts and stuff
Siggy's a truly nice guy - friendly and eager to help. Unfortunately, the dude just can't teach. You'll spend 90% of your time listening to him ramble about conspiracy theories & his "model girlfriends" and you'll learn absolutely nothing about writing. If you have 121-level writing skills, faceroll an easy A. Otherwise, select another prof.
Since English is not my mother tongue, I really liked the way the class was structured. Mr.Sig has more written lectures and material than any other class I have taken, and these helped me to form an express writing style. WR 121 with Mr. Sig is neither hard, nor easy. However, it was indeed more like a real university class than most at PCC.
I really dug Kirk's class last term. the essays and the readings are connected to subjects like bailouts and economic hit men with tons of links on web sites and videos. I learned how to write much better and for once writing was exciting. I miss the discussions most of all. Too bad there isn't a sequel in WR 122.
His class is geared to making his students write about conspiracy theories. It seems to be more for his enjoyment than his "accelerated learning system". You'll learn more about "politics" than writing. A horrible excuse for a writing class.
I think it's fair to say this class changed my life. My writing got better while my brain absorbed tons of information about the world. My husband was not enrolled but he loved the links and lectures. We both ended up reading everything and watching everything. It was fun and kind of scary but I'm so glad I took this class.
Kirk was fast to respond to any email and he is a sweet hearted man. The class was not what I expected but I liked it more and more until by the end I really liked it. It made the term go faster to write about a subject that everybody had an opinion about. I would recommend this class to a friend.
Liked it!!!!
Be forewarned, this class is much more of a political science class than a writing class. The focus is extremely heavy on politics, and very light on actually developing writing skills. On the bright side, the course is a real eye-opener about what is going on in the world around us. If you have interest in politics, this is a good class to take.
I started out hating WR 121 and then my jaw dropped when I realized after a few weeks what was really going on with the readings and the documentaries. this class rules. RULES!!!! I cant stand writing & 'liberal artsie' classes speaking generally but this one breaks the mold.
WOW! I just got my grades for spring term and I got an A in Kirks class. Dudes, this guy has got his act together! Sure, he was a bit hard on me from time to time but that's because he wants me to do well. Know what I mean? Even though he made red marks at my papers, I kept doing them until I got it right. Don't knock him until you try him people.
Kirk Sigurdson knows his stuff and gives good instructing / teachings. If you do all of the work and turn in all of your assignments on time, you will recieve an "A". I could always see him during office hours or even after class if I had questions. He is knowledgeable with the course taught. I do indeed recommend him if you need WR class.
It became apparent immediately that this class is geared towards politics and less towards writing in general. The Blackboard set up was hard to follow (very scattered), even for a computer savvy person like myself. Dropped this class ASAP to avoid a biased politcal "writing" whirlwind.
Class was inspiring. Liked Kirk's style. He is kind of an easy grader, but smart and inspired. A good writing teacher
SIgurdson is a pretty easy grader and easy to follow, but he's extremely liberal and shoves his opinions in anywhere he can. 9/11 was created my the government was apart of the curriculum. Although it is writing, it's very political. DO NOT TAKE if you want both sides presented to you.
He is one of the best professors I have had in a long time. This class had a theme of "political awareness" which made the class more entertaining than most writing or english classes. It was not easy, but it was not entirely difficult if you spent the time needed. I learned more in this class than most of the classes I have taken at PCC.
I took Kirk's class on-line Spring term. It was very different than my expectations of a writing class. The subject matter he chose for us to research was engaging, thought provoking and challenging. I wouldn't say his class was hard, but he challenges you to improve both your writing and your analytical skills.
I learned so much from this instructor. He's the best by far, even though I came out with a "C", I was glad to take his class. The theme of this class was "Political Conspiracy". It was very engaging! Just take this class if you don't want to get bored. You will learn more that you as for! Two thumbs up!
I took the online course, very informative, and learned a lot of new things. I loved this class. Before I could never even meet the minimum word count, and now I am deleting paragraphs because of the topics being so interesting. I definitely recommend this class for an easy A.
I dreaded this class, but it turned out to be one of the most interesting classes I've taken. You'll learn 2 things - if you take the time - to write well and current events. He's not difficult, but you'll have to make the effort.
This was a great class to take! Very informative! I will take the information learned with me for the rest of my life. I am intrigued to continue researching the subject matter, even after the course has closed! Highly recommend for an interesting Writing class! :)
Great class! Two things you'll take away: write well and more interest / knowledge of events in the U.S and the world.
Easy A.
i took this class online and found it very hard to follow along. The whole course was based around watching 9/11 movies and videos and then writing essays that had nothing to do with anything. I found it very hard to want to read his 15 page lectures or post into all the required discussions. I do not recommend him for an online class, at all!
clear directionsand class is pretty fun. teacher is really nice. he takes calls at home in evenings. I likeit
Class was about as good as WR 121 can get. Nice prof, intriguing topics, reasonable essays.
I took this class last term. It was not bad. Confessions of an Economic Hit Man was an unusual textbook. I read the whole thing over spring break, after the class ended. I got an "A" in Kurt's class even though I skipped two discussions, and one quiz. He seems like a hard grader, but I found out this is much more bark than bite. Thank God.
Great teacher, while the class was a bit difficult it was worth taking. The topics we covered were very controversial and at first I did not think I would enjoy the class. By the end of it though I realized how much those topics got my attention as you almost have to take a side with each topic covered which is very stimulating! HIGHLY RECCOMEND!
First writing class I took in a long time(last term). I liked it. Thought I wouldn't but did. Grew on me. No essays about me me me bla bla, but about using articles, quotes, and stuff. good skill builder for history and psych classes am taking this term. As a returnign student to college, I recommend Sigurdsen's class.
This class was more about conspiracy theories than writing. Kirk is a very nice man and I appreciated him but I was disgusted by all the conspiracy theory topics that were covered. It was disturbing because young college kids were buying it which was frustrating. Not everything is a freakin' conspiracy. It was hard to take this class seriously.
Professor Sigurdson metwith me during weekends at acoffee shop near his house to help me with the essays. My schedule last term was busy working full time and he was flexible to meet outside his office hours. His help probably got me at least one grade higher than I would have gotten otherwise in the class. He is very nice and cares about you.
I loved the guy. A lot of people rag on him for his attention to... let's say "controversial subjects outside of the immediate curriculum," but it's really more of a jumping board to pique your interests in writing about things more passionately. Very fun, very helpful and he is not above doling out praise when you do well. An ideal instructor!
I loved writing before this class. It is all about politics and conspiracy theory's with him, worst class I've ever taken. PAINFULLY AWFUL.
This class was one of the better ones I have taken online at PCC. A nice balance between essays that taught me how to write without being too much work. The conspiracy theory class theme was fun. I liked it.
I hated writing. I suck at it. This professor really makes you thing outside the box and let you explore your own writing style. There were lots of participation on the online class forum. If you're tire of taking boring writing class, this class is for you, especailly, if you like those conspiracy theory stuff. I found it very interesting.
Awful!!! It would have been much better if we had been open to writing about topics of our choice instead of getting sucked into the conspiracy theory garbage. A small amount would have been nice, but not the entire term. It was interesting for a week or two, then it got really old. I completely lost interest.
Met with Kirk over coffee at Stumptown. He really zeroed in on ways to help my second essay. Nice man. I got quite a bit out of the class. At first it was not what I expected but as the term went on I liked it mroe and more. Now I kind of miss the mental stimulation.
Professor Kirk Sigurdson class was interesting, thought provoking and never boring. His class was great. It helps with critical thinking. If you are thinking on taking his class I suggest you have good writing skills and be sure you took, W115 He is helpful, thoughtful and brilliant. I enjoy his class and his books, Kultus and Cowslip.
I really enjoyed Prof Sigurdson's class. The conspiracy theory topic was fascinating and encouraged me to "think outside the box". There was a lot of reading but overall, this class was not terribly difficult to keep up with, even for a full time working single Mom.
Kirk is a riot, he's engaging, responsive, and helpful. However, I could not get passed the agenda he was pushing in the class. This felt like Conspiracy Theories 101 masquerading as a writing class. There was little to no instruction about writing structure itself, and weekly discussions hardly felt like they had anything to do with the subject.
This is a great class to take to get ready to write college level papers. He does not let you write about whatever you want to write about, and has specific guidelines of how you are to write essays (no 1st person, rhetorical thesis etc.) Which makes it somewhat difficult, but very necessary for college success. The theme kept me attentive...
I feel like I'm a much better writer after taking the class but writing is not my thing and it never will. The balance between nut and bolt skill stuff and theory was a help. Plus Sigurdson tries to help on a individual basis. I was bored at first with the assignments but then I started really to like his class. It grew on me quite a bit.
Heard about this class from a friend. It has sort of a cult following now. I don't regret taking Sig's class. It wasn't as hard as my friend said it would be. The only writing class I ever sort of liked.
Mr. Sigurdsen's class was the only one that fit in my schedule. I was expecting the usual core type class but he made it fun and smart. My favorite part was his lecture on writers block. This teacher is helpful and friendly too. He let me call him at home on hhis cell phone. We talked for like an hour.
The class uses a writing textbook and a used book called Confessions of an Economic Hit Man. This book was a New York Times bestseller and I can see why. I'm going to finish it over the break. Professor Sig's class was better than my WR 115 class in terms of having a lot of stuff to help with writing. Main criticism: his video lectures are long.
He is nice and can be funny. He is strict and makes you work hard for an A. He is very organized but kinda difficult on the instructions for essays. Like he expects a lot. For me , personally it was kinda hard but if you think that u can handle a lot of homework and high teacher expectations, than your good to go. and I suggest going to class.
Professor Sig answered my emails right away; he met with me out of class, and he explained his assignments clearly. I got an A.
He was way too strict, wouldn't work with me or help when I asked. His email responses were belitting. The material was boring so it was hard to be interested in the writing assignments. I wish I had chosen a different instructor, and read the reviews on here first.
Dr. Sigurdsen is the best professor you can have. He is really intelligent, kind, and attentive, but he does ask for effort. Seeing him work so hard to make the class educational is inspiring and makes you want to do well. He is also very respectful of his students.
Professor Sigurdson is high energy and offers creative assignments that are fun for the most part. He responds quickly to emails and offers in depth feedback. One of the better required courses I have taken at PCC
Not a fan of Sigurdson. Rather than spending time actually teaching us about writing and composition, he spends class time ranting about conspiracy theories. He basically throws us into the deep end of the pool when it's time for essays, but grades us down for things he hardly taught about. Feels like I'm taking a Poly Sci class, not Wr 121.
Kirk kept things lively. I dug the class and his quirky but smart persona. Lots of lectures on grammar and writing tips. Not all of them required reading. There is a lot in this class if you dig and want to learn how to write. It has extra credit too.
Glad I took Sigurdsen's class. Got an "A". He gives good feedback and he met me outside of class at a cafe.
I took Kirk Sigurdson's online writing class! He's a great instructor! He made the class very interesting and he gives great feedback. He was kind enough to write a letter of recommendation for me for admission into a nursing program.
Enjoyed the class. Lots of feedback from Kirk, quick email responses, and a willingness to meet outside of class in person for conferences instead of just skype o email. Very few of my other distance learning profs offer to do that.
I got an A without really trying very hard. Kurt was pretty fun as a teacher.
Prof Sig has four essays and they are on pretty fun topics. He answered my emails fast with good info. grading was fair. This was my favorite writing class so far.
Sigurdson's lectures were very opinionated. Some contained information on conspiracy theories that didn't relate to the content/assignment. I had to adjust my writing style to what he wanted to improve my scores on essays. I interpreted some of the feedback he gave me as belittling. One redeeming quality of the class was the extra credit.
Kurt drove way out of Portland to meet with me at a restaurant near my house to talk about my performance in the class and to give me guidance on Essay Three. It was above and beyond. No other teacher at Portland CC has ever been so helpful. I was not able to drive in to campus to meet with him due to extenuating circumstances.
Kirk was very helpful and personal. Not only did I feel like the assignments helped me become a better writer, I feel like Kirk really wanted us to succeed. I came to Kirk a few times to talk about the class and he was always available to meet or talk. The feedback he leaves is personal and great and much appreciated. You can tell he really cares.
This is my first writing class at PCC. I anticipate getting an A. Some of the assignments were quite compelling.
This class wasn't terrible but it certainly was far from good. The Professor created a structure to the class and valuable information that was hugely counterproductive and simply a waste of my time. He also expected his students to blow his hair back in amazement with every writing piece we did for class.
Kirk is great. His grade book was always open, and so was his virtual office. Responds fast to emails, does Skype. Assignments all pertained to the essays. I recommend his Wr 121 class.
I liked the content of the class as the readings were super interesting and unique. I found the lectures to be winding and confusing. Some of the information was for terms that did not do the same assignments as us which was also confusing. The syllabus was also long so stick with the snapshot calendar and ignore anything else.
Clear directions on assignments fast email response, good feedback I thought.
Great teacher! Highly recommended! I wish he taught WR 122 as well...
Prof Sig is the best. His writing class is unique and informative. Returned emails promptly, met with me out of class when I asked to meet, and gave good feedback on essays and other smaller assignments.
I don't find many writing instructors that have you read H.P. Lovecraft or watch Blade Runner for their class. So the class was fun for me since we were writing about things I had an interest in. Kirk gives you a lot of chances to pass and gives out extra credit. He also gives you good information to improve your writing for future essays.
Kirk is a very nice teacher, who definitely cares about his students and their success. However, he often gets distracted in class on conspiracy theories and stuff not pertaining to classwork, which makes going to class feel pointless as you even have to read his lectures online after class. Easy class, but I don't think I learned even 1 thing.
I thought Kurt was one of the best teachers I've had at PCC. he gave a lot of helpful lectures and his assignments were fun. He gave out his cell phone number and offered advice and pointers with texts! That's a first. The guy really cares. He gave lots feedback about my essays. I am not the best writer but he took away my anxiety. I'm better now!
Ive taken a lot of classes at PCC, and Kirk has to be one of the most laid-back, easy-going instructors Ive met thus far. And for those people complaining about the odd conspiracy theory mentioned in class? Food for the imagination! Is Mark Zuckerberg really an A.I. masquerading as a human? now discuss! C'mon, how is that not fun?
This teacher was messy, does not have definitive syllabus and often bombarded emails. Did not follow syllabus and often moved due dates, making it hard to keep track of what's due. Is not helpful with feedback and doesn't teach students how to be better writers. Never struggled so hard with any class and I take chem and bio. would not recommend
This class had a lot of useless topics. His grading was awful, he doesn't use D2L to stay updated with your grade. He gave no personal feedback just a general feedback page given to all students. He expects a-lot of progress in our writing but doesn't teach us . His syllabus doesn't match what we did in class. Overall, I learned nothing.
Extremely talkative and goes off topic! Talks more about himself besides his thoughts on conspiracy theories. Barely teaches on writing techniques and expects us to become great writers. His feedback does not help and gives the same general feedback to everyone. Doesn't use D2L and sends tons of emails. Grading system is unknown, even for him.
Kirk is one of the best teachers I have ever had. His teaching techniques for writing are very straightforward and easy to understand. His class is setup in a way where it is possible for all students to earn an A and be successful. One of the best classes I have ever taken. Thank you Kirk!
Professor Sigurdson is very considering when assigning due dates and he considers the workload hence gives students properly spaced out time to submit assignments. He is also quite hilarious and gives out fun in-class activities. I am satisfied with the knowledge and skills I acquired fom the Writing 122 class he taught, and I reccommend him.
Professor Kirk is clear in his assignment directions, gives good feedback and gives extra credit. He is considerate, caring and super laidback. He made the class fun and he's hilarious. Would recommend 100%
Mr. Kirk's ability to make the class fun is astounding. By giving interesting out-of-the-box topics for students to argue and ponder about and apply to their work, he definitely made this learning experience worthwhile.
Kirk is such a great instructor who cares about his students. He is very knowledgeable and helped me to become a better writer in so many ways. The course is very well structured, and it's easy to find needed materials. He quickly responds to emails and wants to help in any way he can. It is a comp course so there is reading and writing involved.
This professor has a lot of stories and experience. Professor Sigurdson seriously knows technical writing and if you have some inquiry he will help.
The professor is great! His class is interesting and his grading criteria is great. He will let you know what to expect when turn in assignment and give good feedback. Very recommended!
Kirk is by far the best teacher I ever had. He gets off topic because it is usually something to do with the topic, which shows he is clearly passionate about. He clearly loves his job and his students. I'm special needs, and he ALWAYS made sure I was doing ok in class.
Nice guy, but doesn't even give lectures. Just meanders through the content, if he actually shows up for class. Off-topic most of the time. Gives out lots of reading and doesn't actually teach you anything. Just maybe talks about what assignments you will be working with that week. You will have to learn everything yourself from the textbook.
I personally learned a lot from this professor. I see that others say there was not enough direction in the lectures, but we are in college, not grade school. He made lectures very interesting and not boring. He also gave enough direction in the lecture to guide you to the ultimate goal. He was always there when I needed help and I would recommend.
The valuable information I received while learning from Kirk has tremendously helped and inspired me as a writer. He is knowledgeable and passionate about the craft. He cares about his students and is thoughtful on the work/topics presented in the course. All of his lectures were enriching, helping anyone to become a better writer. Thank you Kirk!
Interesting to read his lectures, keeps your attention. Prompt and very helpful. Willing to give extensions or help with writing tasks,
I'm sad I won't be able to take another class from him! Instructor Sigurdson has clearly put in a lot of effort crafting a flow and build-up of materials that are engaging, clever, and his projects are fun. - I've never taken a class where I can use my projects in my life outside of class. Brilliant. If you have the chance to take his class, do it.
His lectures are interesting to read and his assignments allow for creativity. The skills you practice on the discussion posts directly transfer into your assignments and he provides a significant amount of well-thought-out feedback for each project and discussion. Overall if I had the option to take his class again I would do it in a heartbeat.
Easy class, but he does not care about our education. His course outline was not efficient, and his grading system made no sense. I literally started the class with 0% and had to watch it go up through the term. When I asked him to correct this he told me it's hard to do. He's leaving PCC, but asked the class for good reviews a few times. Shady.
Professor Sigurdson gave clear directions and grades fairly. I like his feedback on assignments. He met with me on Zoom and helped me fix up my resume.
This is the weirdest prof or teacher I've ever had. 90% of the time he was talking about this or that conspiracy theory. The feedback I received on essays was usually paragraphs talking about nonsense that didn't relate to my essay's content. Although, he did grade things quickly and was an easy grader. So disturbingly weird though.
Kurt was a great teacher. He gave detailed feedback on essays and offered conferences outside of the normal hours. That helped me because I work nights at my job.
Professor Kirk was respectful of my background. He was kindly towards me. I found Professor Kirk to be tres bien and also him knowledgeable as I would expect in a college. He tutored me on the Zoom quite a lot. The professor was very good to do that. I do not like the tutoring center at PCC. The tutors are not nearly as the range of this man.
Professor Sigurdson helped me with my resume and cover letter for a job that I applied for. Not only was I hired last January, I also just got a promotion. Professor Sigurdson offered his free time after he moved to another state to help me (when no longer working for PCC). My boss said my cover letter was excellent and helped to get me hired.
Professor Sigurdson has retired from PCC, but he took the time to help me with an application letter. His WR 122 class last year was excellent. Two weeks ago, he looked over my application letter and gave me some really good advice. It was similar to an assignment we had in class. I am a finalist for the job. I will find out if I get hired soon.
