This woman rocks! Her humor is sarcastic so it can throw you off but after the first week you realize she's a total blast and her class room is a total blast as well as educational!

I love this class the most bcuz both of her n the classmates. She's highly helpful & enthusiastic. Attendance policy is strict! Require to due things ontime(strict but can survive the class). She's a great teacher though she does have high expectations from students. Kinda huge workload if comparing to that of other class. Actually, she does right

Higgins is a great teacher with a good sense of humor. It actually is a lot of work though in comparison to many other 110 classes. Grading is tough, but work hard and you should have fun in this class.

Strict attendance policy and assigned homework almost every day, but if you stay on top of the homework and essays (and make sure to show up) you'll do just fine! When I wanted some advice on an essay, I visited her during office hours and she spent a half hour helping me out! Very helpful, funny, and overall a great teacher.

Kirsten Higgins is a really nice teacher. She'll seem really uptight at first but she's great and loves getting to know her students. She's a teacher that will remember your name. So all in all, she's amazing! : )

Ms. Higgins is an excellent teacher. She is very passionate about teaching and she has an extremely big heart...I wish there were more teachers in the world like her. Her kindness and determination she has for her students is something I will never forget.

She was super nice and very enthusiastic in her teaching but I found she will only review that one paper you turn in but she will send you to the writing center for everything else. Easy class if you know how to write well before hand. She always answered questions, Class wasn't too hard.

She is very hyper & laughs at almost everything she says. A very lovely person. She grades very picky, but you'll learn a lot if you take her advice on writing essays. She uses the textbooks frequently & has you answer questions online. The class wasn't too hard, but was no "walk in the park" either. Would recommend of you're willing to try and approve your writing skills.

She grades papers pretty evenly. A lot of class work and outside reading. She was really helpful and great teacher.

I had her for Children's Literature and she is RIDICULOUSLY nice! She reminds me of that one female teacher you loved in elementary school :) You can tell she really loves what she teaches and she makes everything fun in that class, so that makes you want to work hard! But seriously - so, so nice.

Must have common sense in this class. Higgins gives out a lot of information, but if you put the time and effort in you will receive a good grade. One of the best teachers I've ever had. She clearly loves her job and cares about teaching students.

Higgins is a "really hard teacher" but you learn SO much. I took her for my English 101 class, there was a lot of homework and her attention to detail (mistakes) is crazy, but you learn how to write and do research papers like a pro. She is very passionate about English and also about her students. Definitely take her!

Higgins is a nice teacher. You will learn so much things about writing from her. My personal opinion is that if you work really hard, take her class. Otherwise, you will have a hard time in her class.

Ah, Shakespeare. I love this class! Most of class is discussion with some short, detailed lectures. Her hand writing is a bit messy but pretty easy to read. Actively listen & take notes. Midterm was take-home & open book--a bit hard, but if you review, it's easier. Few assignments & a lot of reading. She has many office hours and she will help

Ive had Kirstin for both English101 and Shakespeare. Kirstin is a very intelligent and wonderful teacher. She doesnt take crap, and she is not easy. Theyre college classes guys. She really will help you improve your writing and research. She have given me great deep-reading skills. Im thinking of being an English Major now. Taking 126 from her next

She is difficult and requires you to put in effort, but as long as you put in that effort its worth it because in the end I got a great grade, learned about writing papers, and most importantly about arguing for a point. But she is kinda sassy and that can get annoying.

Higgins is very good at communicating, and returns good feedback on almost all assignments. You'll be reading a lot, but she's not a very tough grader if you put in the effort and do what's required.

If you are taking her class then I advise you to be extremely careful when you are doing citations. A wrong citation can really hurt your grade. Other than that you are going to be okay.

She is an awesome person and teacher. She knows what she is teaching, and how it's beneficial.

Kirsten Higgins is an amazing teacher. She opens your mind to perspectives that you would never otherwise be exposed to. She teaches what you need to know to jump into the next class. She gives excellent feedback on things you can improve on and suggestions on how to make your paper that much better that helps make you a better writer in general.

Ms. Higgins is absolutely amazing. We are, however, early in the quarter, but she is always ready to answer questions and give you a lending hand. As long as you are open to learning, she will be there to help you out. Very excited to see what the rest of the quarter brings.

Kirsten was great! The resources she provided were very helpful which made essays easier to write. Although she did have a habit of laughing at her own jokes, she made class enjoyable. Her feedback on essays helped so much and gave us a clear idea of what we should focus on with upcoming essays. I'm happy I signed up for her class.

She is very respectful in a way that although we come from total opposite sides of the wing, she was able to catch my conservative statements in my essays and instead of trying to change my political views, she simply helped me be more inclusive towards my audience. Awesome feedback! Plus, the work was SUPERRRRRRR easy. Like beyond easy, its crazy.

Kirsten was a great professor to take. She seemed like such a happy person who taught something she was so passionate about. She was always willing to clarify any misunderstood information and she was there for us. Lots of class participation about the readings and she loved to hear everyones' views on class topics.

Higgins is a really great teacher! You've definitely gotta work in her class, but her class isn't difficult. Group discussions and group assignments are common. She prepped us up for the final paper very early and it made it easy. She is very intelligent and won't be taken advantage of.

Felt very much like a high school English class with lengthy papers! Higgins is such a passionate and understanding professor. She makes lots of time to meet outside of class with students (which I would recommend doing she gives great pointers for papers).

This teacher is really very nice person. She worried about every student. Ms. Higgins is ready to help every student even if her schedule doesn't allow her to do it. She is so funny and her lecture is very interesting. She gives a lot of information and advices to write a good paper.

I dont know why Kristen has such bad reviews, she is the best professor I have ever had! She is so caring and she made the class a breeze. Not to mention she is hilarious. She made the whole class feel like one big family. I am already signed up for her English 126 class next quarter!

Write three essays a quarter and a rough draft before two of them with some PDF annotations due a week. Light homework and Mrs. Higgins is extremely caring. Not flexible on late work, she likes hard copies of everything so if youre not in class to turn it in you cant turn it in late. All in all easy work with a nice teacher.

I had Kristen for both English 101 and English 126 and she was great in both! She makes the class easy and my writing has improved so much throughout these last two quarters.

Loved her, I don't get how she has such a low rating! Gives great feedback on what you need to improve, very helpful in office hours (highly recommend), and you can tell she really wants her students to do well. Lots of essays and discussion posts, while I personally found them to be easy, you better get your writing knuckles ready.

This was my first quarter of college classes, and with everyone saying that college was going to be hard up until this point, I was pretty nervous. However, Professor Higgins made it seem really easy to me. She gives a good amount of work in this class, but if there is something going on in your life, she understands perfectly and helps you tons.

I took English 101 and English 127 (this class) at the same time. Both of them were with Professor Higgins. To be completely honest, this was the easiest class I've taken since Middle School. You have 1-2 assignments a week, and not one of them was hard. The class is a free 3 credits, and anyone should take it - with Higgins if possible.

One of my favorite teachers. Super nice. Very responsive. Graded assignments quickly. Just do the work and try your best and you will do well.

I love her! Super easy grader as long as you do everything required for assignment. Usually a discussion or two a week. Sometimes a short paper (easy). End of quarter 8 point Extra Credit. Lots of reading (usually interesting like stories or poems). Final is a short paper on poem+story and a project (graphic novel or close reading of 2 story/poems

I took Prof. Higgins ENGL&101 class this past quarter and really enjoyed her teaching and explanation of things. She will go over some articles in class and help understand it, and if you havent read it than thats okay. Her class is pretty easy to pass if you turn in everything on time and try to do the best of your ability. Fun topic you choose.

My experience with this class and professor was great. She is very kind and gives REALLY good feedback- it is clear and encouraging. It helped me so much in my writing. Her teaching is solid and gives resources for better understanding. It isn't "easy". you would not be able to do the bare minimum and expect good grades

Mrs. Higgins is very kind. Most people who rated her on here said something about her laugh, and it wasn't that bad. I had my air pod in and minded my business and it was such a great class. There was only 4 major projects, 2 papers, and a slideshow project where you will research for articles and books, and then a easy portfolio at the end.

She answers emails quickly and is available for talks after class, whether academic or just casual talks. She is kind and understanding, and gives good grades as long as you show hard work and do your best. Her assignments may seem unclear at first, but in the end you are able to do well.

Prof. Higgins is very caring. She would encourage her students to always seek for support throughout her office hours or the writing center. She is also very reasonable on grading and as long as you follow the criteria it's an easy A. She also gives out awesome feedback on the drafts. There are 3 papers which are pretty easy and a portfolio.

I saw a lot of reviews say things about her personality in a bad light, shes super sweet and is considerate such as if you turn something in late she wont dock you if its not far off, the work doesnt need to be exact just looking for some effort. She makes the class more entertaining. Grades well and fair.

I took Higgins during Winter 2024, an amazing and caring professor. She will always ask if anyone needed support, giving students access to her office hours and any other kinds of needs one may need. She is a tough grader, so you definitely must keep your assignments on track and read whatever she assigns. Would take a class with her again.
