She is a great teacher. Her assignments and exams are easy if you pay attention in class. Quizes are very easy if you read the study guide.

She is a VERY sweet person. She is a "mom-type" in that she is very encouraging and wants you to succeed. She does a lot of in-class activities and shows a lot of video clips that really help solidify what she is teaching. Just make sure to stay on top of her weekly online quizzes... other than that she doesn't bog you down with busy work. A+!

She is very friendly, but be prepaired to do alot of studying inorder to get a good grade. She doesnt talk about everything that you be tested on and the homework is hard if you dont understand all the psy lingo.

She is like a mom, very caring. She gives you study guides which are very helpful. The test she gives are to wordy and may be confusing. She lets you redo the test and they are the exact same one. Over all if you put a little effort into it you will get a B.

Very good teacher. She presents the material in a very easy to understand manner, and in a way that encourages reading the book (which is sometimes required as not all the information is covered in class, but she'll tell you when that happens). she's also quite pretty.

Awesomest professor I've had yet. She really wants students to do well! She will let you retake any and all tests for a better grade. One chapter and one homework assignment per week.

She likes to be called Kirsten which I liked because she doesn't think she's above you. Kirsten wants her students to succeed and do well but nothing is giving. Hard work and studying in her class will pay off, it doesn't go unnoticed. Do all her assignments on time and put forth about 2 hours of studying for exams to excell. Great instructor

She's one of the best teachers I've had. She just really wants to help her students understand the material. If you go in for help on something you don't understand she'll do anything in her power to help you out. Word of advice: Do her study guides...because that's what the test is going to look like and/or tells you what you exactly need to know.

I would give the perfect score for this teacher. I took her last summer. she is very intelligent and extremely polite/kind/nice. There are online quizes. The test is right off the worksheet and gives some extra pts. One perfect score no matter what project. repects student's voice and try to think our best interests at heart.

She is a great teacher every i have seen. Most helpful and caring. We can take exams again if we didn't do good on it. Sometimes multiple choice exam at home and final was with partners. Project was easy too and also gave EC to bring up our over all points. Amazing teacher !!!!

I recommend her and psych 101. The homework assgn. are in blackboard and open book, she offers retakes for exams, and encourages extra credit. She emphasizes key things in class to know and will be on the exams. Take good notes, participate, and bring a 3x5 index card to use on exams. I discovered/learned a lot and will take another psyc class.

Probably the nicest teacher you will ever meet. The class is hard though. 4 exams = 90% of grade and 10% hw. Withdrew in summer and dropped this fall. HARD CLASS

Love her she picked the perfect career she loves to teach and is really good at it! I wish my other professors would learn from her on her technic. Teaching is not about scaring the life out of us and stressing us out with impossible assignments but rather actually taking something away from the class to use in life. She is one of the nicest teachers. However, her lectures wouldn't help you to succeed in the test rather you've to read each chapters thoroughly. Professor Matthews is really nice teacher. She teaches well and is not strict. She gives alot of notes, test. She is really helpful and I would definalty take another class with her as my professor. I would reccomend her.

Intro Psych! Best teacher ever! Literally lets you do hw online and view answers as you go. Can use a notecard on any of the 8 tests and offers make-up's 3-4 times in the semester plus no final! So easy and she is super cool but she does expect you to still show up and learn as long as you view her notes online and study you can easily get an A.

not a difficult class, laid back, 5 exams can use notecard on all, retakes/makeups, do all the hmwk online which is easy n do as much extra credit as possible, no final. i would recommend her

Super sweet teacher! She is very passionate about what she does! She makes psychology fun and tries to make personal connections when possible as well. Purchasing the book and Virtual Child access code is mandatory, but you will honestly learn everything you need to know in class. No tests- only papers (checkpoints)! Very helpful and understanding!

For PSY101,THIS is the teacher to pick.She is the nicest teacher I've had at Harper.There are only 4 tests(no final),and for each test,you can use both sides of 3x5 index card.HW is all online.Attendance is not really mandatory.But she really loves what she teaches,making psych interesting.I actually looked forward to this class.Take her for sure!

I adore her, she is a fabulous professor. She really waters down difficult concepts to make them easy to understand. Questions on exams are very situational, so its all about understanding the concept behind the definition rather than the words that make up the definition, you need to be able to apply it. She is so wonderful, take her!

Kirsten is the best teacher I have had so far. She doesn't give out pop quizzes bc she thinks they make students anxious. Also, she doesn't make you write any essays. Points are based off exams and study guides (which help a lot) and her exams are super easy! I also changed my major to psychology bc of her. She's amazing! Take her if you can!

Easiest class of my life. Tests and study guide are only assignments, study guides are where you take your notes. Very straight forward, no final, only homework is studying! GPA booster for sure. Plus she's just the sweetest person ever.

She is very friendly and is very understanding of the fact that students are busy. She tells a bunch of stories about her daughter, but they relate to the class! She loves what she does! All tests are online and open book/notes. Gives very clear instructions on writing assignments and is a very fair grader! HIGHLY RECOMENDED

She's a nice teacher, and very clear and helpful in her lectures. However, I found the exam questions to be quite confusing sometimes. They got easier as the material changed from scientific terms to social factors and behavior. I think if you take this class, take advantage of the Test Analysis. There's a lot to remember off of the study guides.

If you want an easy A, you should definitely take Psychology with her! She is so nice and passionate about what she teaches. Her exams are really easy! She doesn't give pop-quizzes because she says they give students anxiety. Who doesn't love a teacher like that? There is no actual final and no papers. Her class was great! Definitely recommend her!

Although she doesn't establish any sort of relationship with her students, she is extremely nice and very understanding. She gives extra credit opportunities and tries her best to help you succeed in her class, I enjoyed it as much as I could, never been a fan of the subject.

Dr. Matthews is awesome! The chapters from the text can be long and a bit confusing but she provides a study guide for each unit to help you understand the info that will be on the test. She has 4 exams, no final, a weekly online quiz, and a couple small projects. Read the chapters, go to class, and you will get an A.

Kirsten was the greatest professor I've ever had. So thankful I had the opportunity to be her student. Her lectures are crystal clear and she explains everything very well. I never wanted to miss a class because her lectures were outstanding. You will need to read through your text book as well. I received an A in the 8 week long course.

Professor Matthews is a good teacher for Psychology 101. Not the most interesting teacher, but she goes through the material and she provides you with study guides for each test which was helpful. Not a bad teacher, I would recommend her for Psych 101

Dr. Matthew is BY FAR the best teacher at Harper College!! I took her Summer PSY101 course and it was the easiest class I've ever taken! The only homework she gives are study guides, most of which you fill out in class anyway. She gives powerpoint presentations that are easy to follow and parallel the study guides. No final exam, either! AWESOME!

Such a great teacher! She is very reasonable and flexible with grades if you show her that you worked hard. Her study guides are long, but she gives you plenty of time to do it. This class isn't an easy A, but she gives you plenty of opportunities to raise your grade if you are willing to put in the effort.

This professor is one of the best Professor in Harper. I Highly recommend her for students who are taking Psychology 101. Just don't be absent at her classes 'cause most of the definitions of the keywords in your study guide will be at her class discussions. Just always be there, listen to her, and you'll be fine.

She was very clear about all assignments and grading criteria. Study guides were given for each test and as long as you were in class to get the notes, the tests were very easy. Attendance isn't counted but you really need to be at every lecture.

Very good psychology teacher. It is obvious that she is very knowledgeable in her field. The grades are very fair, and she gives you every chance to get an A. You can retake each of the 4 exams once, and retake the quizzes as many times as you like before they are due. Prof. Matthews is very nice and fair, definitely worth taking for 101

This class is pretty straightforward. Not too much reading and classes are fun and she teaches the class very well. There is homework every Friday so don't forget! AS long as you do the online homework you'll be fine. There are 4 exams no midterm or final and you can retake them all.

That was my first class at Harper and it was the summer class which is only 8 weeks. Lots of information squeezed into those 2 months. It was hard, if you can, take it as a semester long class. Otherwise the teacher is great. She knows her stuff and is very knowledgeable. Lots of group work. Make sure you don't miss class. She is nice and sweet.

Took her for Psych 101. She is probably the best teacher I've had in my life. She is extremely clear and makes class fun. She talks about her daughter a lot in reference to what we are learning. She uses a wide variety of tools to teach (PowerPoint, YouTube, etc). It is class you will actually look forward to going to go rather than dreading.

Kirsten Matthews is by far one of my favorite professors at harper college. She loves what she teaches and has a good grasp on reality. Not only does Kirsten give you a chance for make up exams, but she also provides study guides on what each exam will cover that will eventually be on the exam followed. TAKE HER COURSE!

Dr. Matthews was really easy. Doesn't take attendance but missing a class could hurt. Gives study guide to fill out and article assignments. If you don't study for the test they can seem hard. Every little detail on the study guide is on the test!

Thought this teacher was very nice and the class was easy, it was such a boring class to sit in. She doesn't fit a college atmosphere but more of an elementary school teacher. All her tests homework was online which was great. plus you can retake them as many times as you want. But her two papers were horrible. tough grader on the papers

She is very smart and passionate about her job. Her class may not be very exciting but there is a lot of important information to learn, you will love it. There are a lot more girls than guys just beware (im a guy, it was nice). To get an A, just do the work and do your best on the 2 papers.

I took her summer class and passed with an "A." HW includes 4 Study Guides and Online Assignments. There're 4 exams and she let's you REMAKE them! There's also 10pts EC. Very clear lectures. Go to lectures, listen to her, follow along with ur study guide, and study the study guides thoroughly for exam and you'll b GOLDEN! Minimal use of textbook!

Expect a lot of power point presentations. She uses a video for almost every section learned which helps a lot to understand. She likes to make connections to your life to give better understanding. there are study guides for each unit, must be printed and turned in. Tests are easy if you really study (study guide is great for studying)

Great professor! She gives hints during tests by underling specific words. Need to show up to lecture. No extra info from textbook will be on the test, just notes from the study guide you fill in during class. So DON'T buy the book. She lets you retake all of her tests and takes the highest score. Gives you homework once every 2 months.

Her class was incredibly easy! She gave us the study guides, and there was nothing on the test that was not on the study guide. You don't even have to show up for class because she doesn't take attendance and the power point slides are on BlackBoard. The tests were easy- 50 multiple choice questions and she also gave opportunities for extra credit.

This class is an easy A if you show up and actually study your study guide. She isn't the most enthusiastic professor, but she's straight forward in lectures, and you know exactly what to expect on the exams. Allows you to retake all your exams, and takes the highest score which was great! Extra credit opportunities, great teacher!

She is a great teacher! Your typical day will be sitting in class filling in your study guide (which she makes you print out) while looking at her powerpoints and videos. The videos are pretty interesting and she makes it obvious when you have to fill out the study guide, she has a good pace. She lets you retake an exam again. Extra credit too.

Easiest A you will ever get it you just show up and do the study guide. 4 online articles with 4 extra credit opportunities for homework with unlimited tries. Don't buy the book, every answer can be just googled. Tests are all multiple choice and you have a chance to retake every single one and no final. You have to try really hard to fail.

if you want an easy A, take matthews. if you want a fun class, do not. attendance wasn't mandatory, she gave you note packets, tests are multiple choice and you can retake them, there is really no reason you shouldn't get an A. very impersonal teacher, but at the class is a good gpa booster

Very easy going and straight forward with lectures, tests are based holey what you based off what learned in lectures. The study guides are explained in lecture and verbatim on test, extra credit is given to help boost your grade up.

Incredibly nice woman that was a pleasure to have as a teacher, no final exams or essays to write in this class and multiple attempts to take the four exams in the class, interesting and practical course, would definitely recommend for PSY courses, creates a study guide for you to fill out, can get by without book if you attend class regularly

I really loved her class! I learned so much, and everything was interesting. She gives a study guide to take notes in, and it's helpful. She gives lots of opportunities for extra credit, and is easy to talk to. She won't round up your grade, but the extra credit can take care of that. I got through the class w/o reading anything in the book.

Kirsten is the sweetest teacher you will ever have. She really cares about her students and their success. She tends to spoon feed a little and it makes the class a breeze. She keeps things interesting and really understands her field. I would take another class with her if I could. Just keep up with the reading/homework.

Matthews is so awesome! She is super nice and very helpful. If you need help she would be more than happy to help you out. Good at teaching the material. The study guide for each chapter are your notes, and you go through it in class, leaving little to do on your own. NO FINAL EXAM, just retakes at the end if you need to. She's awesome, seriously

3 tests, no final. All study guides will be posted online - as long as you do those, then you should do well in this class. A lot of extra credit opportunities and instead of a final, it's essentially a "make up" day; people who wants to make up one of the three tests can show up and retake a test. Would strongly recommended.

She is a great teacher! It was a super easy A. There are only 3 multiple choice tests(50questions each) and one makeup test. Also 3 study guides (as long as you fill out all, you get full credit), four online multiple choice quizzes(you can try as many times as you want and can get full points). She also gives extra credit easily. I learned a lot.

Dr. Blount-Matthews was such a great instructor to have. It's obvious that she cares about her students and their performance. The only kind of people who would say otherwise are the lazy ones who have "C's get degrees" attitudes. I would definitely recommend taking her class.

Prof. M is a fantastic person both inside and outside of class. She does a lot to make sure you understand the material, and does not hesitate to help you. We had 6 online assignments in total, and three tests. As long as you review the study guide(that you fill out during the lectures)you will be more than fine for the tests. Great choice overall

Absolutely amazing! goes over the calendar dates each class to make sure you're aware of anything due. makes it very clear what is happening/also uses analogies to better help students understand. She reminds you to print out your study guides ahead of time. She offers you plenty of extra credit! I am taking as many classes as she teaches!

She's literally the nicest human in the entire planet. She teaches like an elementary school teacher in that her class is very. very easy to follow. Little effort was put in this class and I got an A+ She also has free food in her office, snacks & also meals to take home. PSY101 is usually mandatory & you should take Kirsten. Lectures kinda boring.

Professor Matthews is extremely nice and caring. The class material is pretty basic so as long as you do the 3 study guides during her lectures and study them for tests you will pass. Only thing I didnt like about the class is that its lecture heavy and tends to get very boring since there is barely any group activities and only old 80s psych vids

Professor Matthews is overall an AMAZING professor. You can really tell she loves what she teaches. She gives great examples to help you cope with the information a little better. Wish she taught several other psychology level classes!

Prof. Matthews is honestly such a sweet person in general, and her class is easy af. She teaches off of power points, and makes you print off a 20 page study guide for each section (but she will usually bend on her "no electronics" for you to do it on your laptop). We fill out the study guide in class, & the exams are multiple choice copies of them

Literally the nicest person in the entire planet. Lectures are boring but she makes it very easy to learn. She offers free food to her students that she keeps in her office. She explains things clearly and she is easy to follow. The study guides actually help and she will answer any question. Gives many chances for extra credit. She is a non mandatory class and I still go because her lectures are actually interesting

Kirsten is seriously the best! She truly cares about you and how well you do in her class. She has a great upbeat personality and truly loves her job. She shares a lot of stories that help you learn and are just interesting. I would totally take one of her classes again and Im going to miss her. Also- she makes sure you are fed!

class is divided into 3 units with multiple chapters followed by three exams. one apa style paper that she gives instruction on very clearly. she is very caring and allows students to retake each exam once. also allows you to turn in paper again for a better grade. a couple of articles online followed with 10 questions.

She is literally the best teacher ever. She gives you the opportunity to make up and retake tests. Study the study guides that she gives you and you will good on the tests. She really cares about her students.

Dr. Matthews is really caring towards her students and is very knowledgeable about the subject she teaches. Notes are taken on a study guide she provides that is later collected before each exam. Allows one retake per exam, and there was no final. The class consisted of 3 exams, 1 project and 7 assignments. Gives EC opportunities, Highly Recommend!

Best professor by far. She's excellent at explaining material. I WANTED to go to class. She allows 1 retake per exam, offers free food during office hours, gives study guides that are 100% accurate to the exam, and offers PLENTY of extra credit. If you do the work and go to class, an A is almost handed to you. If you don't get an A, whatcha doin?

Dr Matthews is the best professor Ive had at Harper! She genuinely cares about her students and is very knowledgeable. Her lectures are never boring. One of my favorite professors! Will help you succeed and cares about what she does. She does not take attendance but going to class will help you pass and understand the lesson more.

Kirsten is so nice! She never gives homework maybe like one small writing assignment on BB a month and easy online quizzes. She gives retakes and extra credit super laid back, caring, will work with you to make sure you succeed. Lectures a lot so show up, fill out study guide she provides you!

Shes a great professor and such a kind human being. The class is an easy A as long as you do all the homework (Theres a few easy online assignments for every unit and most of them can be completed multiple times until you get 100%), study for the tests, show up to every class to get all the notes, and take advantage of the extra credit.

She is a great professor! I took psychology twice and drop out because the teachers didnt teach well! But in her class I understood everything, she is also a very caring person and her Lectures are never boring! This was an easy A class for me!

Excellent teacher she uses mentimeter that allows students to interact with their phones, quizzes are simple for each chapter and can be taken until you pass. Exams are multiple choice but are not hard if you review notes and PowerPoint. This class is an easy A or B. Very interesting topics and videos you will not be bored. She is the best....

Excellent and very nice Professor who teaches the material pretty well for a summer course. Very relaxed environment with only three exams with the opportunity to retake each one once. Quizzes are only and Powerpoint notes are very clear. and she uses Mentimeter for reviewing the material. One piece of advice is to study hard for the exams.

She truly cares about her students! She gives you a study guide for the test.. if you study those you will be fine for the test! I recommend! Attendance isn't mandatory but she does a great job of explaining the material

Dr. Mathews is super kind! She is very passionate about her profession which allows you to be engaged in lecture. The textbook for Psy 101 Honors was not required since it was free online. There are daily black board quizzes which are super easy and four exams. No final. You are allowed to re-take each exam once and offers some extra credit.

She's SUPER caring and cheerful every class. She prepares all lecture materials for each unit which saves a lot of time taking notes (highlighting and small additions are helpful). I would definitely recommend taking her class!

Dr. Matthews is a great professor! She cares so much about her students and wants nothing but the best for them! Theres very minimal homework & as long as you know the vocab, the tests arent hard. She grades quickly too, so you always know where you stand for your grade throughout the semester. Take her for any psych class!!!

She is such a cute and nicest person. She explains everything so well that it's easier to learn. Just listen to her lectures and you'll pass. She gives free food as well in case you don't have lunch. She genuinely cares and is an awesome teacher.

Take advantage of the extra credit opportunities. The "essays" arent hard. Lots of quizzes but super easy dont slack on these they make a difference. Doesnt round up but allows you to retake any test at the end of the semester. I was at 89. something % towards the end so I had to come back for the final & retake a test to get an A. Take her!!

Dr. Matthews was one of the best professors Ive had at Harper! She cares a lot about her students. She encourages to visit her during office hours. She has you print out a notes packet for each unit. Very helpful. Studying the packets helps. She seems to really enjoy what she does. If you get a chance, take her!!

Professor Matthews is super sweet and super knowledgeable about psychology! I would recommend her to anyone who is interested in taking Intro to Psych or Child Psych at Harper. Professor Matthews offers plenty of opportunities to retake quizzes and to complete extra credit. She's a super fair teacher and a really nice person.

Prof. Matthews is super organized and gives clear instructions for assignments and essays. If you are the type of student who is worried they will lose track of what is due and when she is the best!! She is super responsive to emails and always has time to meet outside of class for questions. Offers extra credit and two attempts for every exam.

Prof. Matthews is a great teacher. Every week homework is due Tuesdays and Thursdays. (at least my class) Shes a fast grader which is great so you always know your current grade. Lots of small homework assignments (easy) so lots of opportunity to raise your grade. Each unit test, you have 2 attempts. She doesnt do a final you can make up unit test.

Dr. Mathews is the best teacher I've had at Harper. I've taken her PSY 101 and 228 online and both were amazing she is a super kind easy going teacher who really cares. She offers lots of retries on test and EC! She has great straightforward lectures and all of her textbooks and readings are free and provided. Also very reachable outside of class

I got a 100.5% in this class and missed quizzes, didn't get 100% on tests, etc because she has so many opportunities for extra credit and to make up tests/quizzes. She is an engaging, intelligent, and caring professor. Homework was due every Tues. and Thurs. which was a little unusual but you just have to stay on top of things. 10/10 recommended.

Very relevant course material. 1 assignment due every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. 1 quiz due every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday & unlimited attempts allowed. Open access book by Lumen. You can search the e-book chapters during the quiz/exam. Responsive to emails. 3 projects. 4 exams.

Sweetest professor I have ever had. Super understanding and walks you through every paper/project you do. Gives extra credit and makes the class interesting and relevant. Really enjoyed class with her and hope I can take her again. I ended with 101%.

Best professor I have had at Harper. She is so sweet and you can tell she cares about her students. There are lots of readings, but she makes videos that make the material much easier to understand. She is also great at responding to emails quickly, and goes above and beyond to help students with whatever they need.

Professor Matthews is a very good teacher. She has a clear grading criteria and the syllabus shares it all. Just complete discussion boards, homework and weekly quizzes. She offers a ton of extra credit. If you have taken a Psych class before, this class will be very familar.

The class is not hard, but requires a lot of reading and homework - be prepared to spend some time if you want an A. Dr. Matthews is a very nice, caring and dedicated professor.

Lots of busy work and reading but she's an incredibly easy grader. As long as you get your stuff done, you'll end up with a good grade. Overall, one of the easiest classes I've taken but also one of the most boring ones.

I absolutely loved Professor Matthews! When I first started this course I was worried it would be very time consuming, but it was not. It is a lot of reading, but she offers guided notes which help a lot (and get you extra credit). I learned so much from this class and wish I could take her again. I also loved her lectures-15 minutes or less.

Professor Matthews was just alright. She doesn't deserve any lower than a 5-star rating, but she did not blow me away with her teaching. She did her job in teaching us the material and that's all.

Prof Matthews was great! Took an 8-week course, and while the workload was heavy at times, it was never too much, things were due on Tuesdays and Fridays which was a little weird but you get used to it. Gives feedback on everything, extra credit is available which is always a plus, and the material was very interesting! Would definitely recommend!

I'm taking Dr. Matthews over the summer, & I'd say she's a good quality professor. This is a 8 week course, so there's going to be more work than a semester, but that's to be expected. She's accessible & answers fast. The one thing I'd say kinda stinks is that sometimes the exams are a bit challenging. On the plus, this class is rly interesting.

Professor Kirsten was an amazing teacher for our fall class. She is very knowledgeable of the subject she is teaching and does an amazing job of engaging the class and striking curiosity in everyone in the room. If I could I would take her over and over just to hear all her little interesting side stories about the subject we were learning.

Professor Matthews was a great teacher and the lectures were very interesting. There is a lot of reading in the class and the quizzes are taken unlimited times. Similarly, the exams can be taken a few times to improve the grade but always offer different questions. As long as you pay attention and use your notes on quizzes and tests it's an easy A.

Prof Matthews is a great teacher - engaging lectures and lots of extra credit to boost your grade. The workload is heavy but manageable, and resources like guided notes and unstuckstudy make studying a breeze. Definitely take this class if you're interested in psychology.

Honestly she's great. If you know you're gonna have late work...don't. Make sure you're always on time, if you are late a couple of times it's fine but she takes 50% off understandably so. Aside from that this was a late start class but really it's very easy. A good load of assignments but they aren't difficult. She's cool and answers emails fast:)

For me Ms. Mattews is the best for psychology. I took PSY 228 with her too. She allows a looot of extra credit, and she's very compassionate and caring as a teacher as well. She also doesn't mind explaining something a thousand times if you need it, she provides many sources if you need it as well. TAKE HER!!!

Great teacher who does an amazing job explaining the concepts. I took Honors Psychology, which included a final project, and it was enjoyable. She guided us throughout the entire process instead of leaving us to figure it out on our own.

Great professor! I enjoyed her class although her work was a little too much but still very doable if you have great time management. Definitely recommend her class and I would take again definitely
