Very nice teacher. Doesn't make this class boring at all!! Keeps you awake the whole time. Easy to pass. SWEET CARING WOMAN. Definitly would recommend her.
she is very willing to help she very knoligable in her field. her calss is as easy as you make it. she gives you every oportunity to pass. this semmester is short beacause of multiple holidays, its a bit challenging for her. her pace has picked up and some students are having a hard time keeping up
I love this women shes a great teacher and i just loved and enjoyed her class. Is fun and evendough it was a 3hr. class she maneged to make the time past real fast. I recomend her, for her test just study and read. But she's very caring and she gets concern when your not doing good so she'll find a way to help.
Kirsten is definately one of those teachers that define the classroom. She is a plus for international students who are not comprehensive of American History. Not only does she make History fun, she challenges her class to be historians and to be history makers by her superb interpersonal relation skill. She is a GREAT Instructor.
She is a great teacher!!! She cares alot about her students and her test are easy! she makes class fun!
Mrs. Resnik is one of the most sincere college teachers I ever came across, in fact if anyone says bad things about her, I will slap them! j/k seriously she is good because she doesnt try to force liberal garbage down your throat, like most college instructors. She is very objective, and if she wasnt married...oooh j/k
Professor Resnick is one of the best professors I have come across. I was terrified to take a 3 hour history class. However, she made the time fly by. She was so thurough and interesting. Most importantly she took the time to really know and understand each student, considering how large the class was. If you want a inspirational teacher, take her.
Many students got terrifed in the being of the semester because of the way she ran the classroom so they whined up dropping. But the class is extremly easy if you just show up everyday. Many group activies. Reading is mild. Tests are straight forward with the study guide.I have the book for her class History1A. Contact me at [email protected]
very nice lady and a great teacher. took her class last year and she makes the subject fun! she cares a lot about her students. she still says "hi!" whenever we pass each other. take her class, you won't regret it!
I just have one thing to say, she is a great teacher. Her activities may seem somewhat "silly", but they really help remembering the subject and makes time go by so fast.
I loved been a part of her class. She makes history fun and interesting. Cares alot about her students. Will take care in the fall 2006 again for history 1B. She is my favorite teacher.
Wonderful lady & a great teacher. I took her class Summer 2006. If you have a hard time with History take it in the summer. It is hard work, but 1 test a week for 5 weeks is better than 16 weeks with another teacher! She cares a lot about her students. TAKE HER CLASS! YOU WONT REGRET IT!!! I LOVED HER!
Man...she's such a wonderful teacher. Like the previous reviewers...she brings a lot of elementary materials into the class... lots LOTS LOTs of handouts, pictures, movies, and activities. She's like the most caring, kind, and cool professors I know. She brought us candy and cakes...haha...how sweet... She knows her information, and is willing 2hel
Mrs. Resnick is a great teacher! I took her class during the winter. She lecture really fast. There is a lot of reading and essay writing. Although the class required of a lot work, it is very easy to get an A.
Prof Resnick was a lot of fun. She made History stress free. Her tests and easy are moderatly easy. I highly recommend this teacher. Also she gives lots of handouts to help you study throughout the class and she does fun activities. I can honestly say History was fun for me.
A great teacher. She always tries to make the class more interesting with group activities, plenty hand outs to make note taking tons less and easier, cares deeply for her students on a personal level, extremely helpful, very fun, and understanding of students not making things too hard, highly recommend.
...oh and also she doesn't like it when you ask too many questions b/c all she cares about is finishing her lectures, email me regarding her if you are unsure and I will tell you the positives and negatives (seriously), I believe that everybody should be treated fairly and REWARDED for ther ACTUAL hard work.
SHE IS PASSIONATE ABOUT HISTORY AND LOVES HER STUDENTS. THERE WERE ESSAY WRITING TESTS, BUT NO FEAR, SHE GRADES VERY EASY, ALMOST TOO EASY. THE GAL NEXT TO ME FAILED ALMOST EVERY TEST, BUT ENDED UP GETTING A "B". I WORKED MY ASS OFF AND GOT AN "A". GO FIGURE. I LOVE MRS. RESNICK AND HER PASSION FOR HISTORY AND GENUINE CONCERN FOR HER STUDENTS.
I luv her! She is extreamly helpful and will listen to your concerns and answer your q's!She is not that (that) easy, but she is definetly not hard.I didn't even buy the book and passed. She braught us donuts and her husband and cute lil kids came by.The cool thing is she is not hard and you really learn so much IF YOU apply yourself!Go Resnick :)!!
She was a sweatheart but the class was extremley easy. She graded too easy on essays. She had too many movies and handouts and not enough lectures. She also could not answer a lot of questions the students asked.
Tough class to take for good students. You do a lot of hard work, turn in an excellent paper and get an A-. Your neighbor does no work, turns in a crappy paper and gets.....an A-. Besides resnick's phobia of giving out bad grades, the class is excellent. There is lots of legwork. 4papers,10quizzes,1presentation, mid-term,final. fun class, EZ A
One of the best teacher's I have ever had, but she does talk a little fast...
She is a good teacher. I enjoyed her class. Although she gave alot of handouts, she made test prep enjoyable and the test weren't so stressful
She is an easy teacher and you learn alot in her class. She talks a whole lot and very fast so you gotta keep up. Shes really sweet and nice. This class is super easy. Easy A. I recommend her. Shes fun.
What an amazing teacher, she cares about her students, she is prepared with tons of info, she is funny and meets the purpose of getting her ideas through us. I want to be a teacher and I hope to become a teacher as Mrs. Resnick
Avoid at all costs unless you want an easy A and not learn anything. Has never answered any questions when asked, she always replies with "I am not sure about that".Gives the same grades to all papers written. Worked hard on one received an A, rushed through the other and received A.Its a typical argument, if you dont come to college to learn take.
Geez, it's hard to come out of a class feeling dumber, but it's possible! If you miss High School, take this class. If you want an easy A, take this class. If you don't want to put effort into work or time to go to class...well...I think you get the point...
She is a very thorough teacher, I want to have her class again. She does talk very fast, so you do have to come to class aware. But super nice and very helpful, she loves her job and you can see it by the way she conducts her classes.
I have read a lot of the comments for this teacher and the ones that think its too easy why don't you get up there and teach and see if you can do a better job!!! Professor Kirsten Resnick did an exellent job of teaching and she really cares about her students, which is very rare for any college teacher so I give her an A+ for teaching!!!!!
Easy and helpful professor. A very nice woman who grades very easily. Assigns about 10 pages a week to read and a short easy quiz once a week as well. If you put a little effort in the class you will earn an A, if you don't you'll get a B.
She is probably the nicest teacher I've had at El Camino. As long as you do the reading and try, you will get a good grade. Although this class is easy, I enjoyed it and actually learned.
She is a PROFESSOR.Extremely fun, nice, helpful. It was the only 3 hour class that i loved to go n never felt bored.overall grade is spread out thru various areas. One thing is that she covers so many topics n gives out countless papers.KEEP ALL OF THEM!! Grade that u get in this class is more about how much u committed urself in there. I got an A.
Extremely nice teacher, but she gets distracted easily and tends to go very fast and cram several activities all in one class. She gives quizzes almost weekly, so if you want a good grade on them READ THE TEXTBOOK! Overall, nice teacher, easy class, and she tries to make it interesting and fun!
She was an easy teacher, definitely gives out a lot of papers so you really have to stay organized. Quizzes every week, she gives you what is going to be on the midterm & final, theres one presentation and thats it. I got C's on pretty much all the quizzes (cuz i never read the book) but ended up with a B in the class. ! =]
she is such a nice teacher -- easy as well. take her or history 1A if you can! you'll get grade you deserve (if you put decent amount of effort - A)
Super easy class, she makes everything easy to understand. It is practically the same American history class you took in high school. 2 Exams (midterm-final). 2 simple essays. and a quiz once a week. You need to purchase the book for this course, you WILL need it.
She is a very nice lady... She goes very fast on her lectures and gives plenty of handouts for you to understand and follow along... Although she does not tolerate cellphones and interruptions while she is talking... Can't go wrong with this woman
very easy teacher ! quizzes are based on readings online. (She doesn't issue textbooks!) just take notes on the handouts she gives you when she lectures. likes us to discuss handouts in groups. attendance is key to passing. she is strict on no cell phones though.
Mrs. Resnick is a wonderful professor, she makes her own "book" so no need to waste money at the bookstore. Study the handouts and be good at note taking, and you will pass the class. One very important detail, don't interrupt when she is giving the lecture, specially if you sit in the front, and she is very tough on cell phone usage
She is a very easy. You don't need to buy a textbook since she makes her own handouts. All you need to do to pass this class is take notes. Her quizzes and exams are very easy and straightforward. She is very strict on cellphone usage and have a few other strange quirks, but she's a really great professor. It might take some time getting used to.
Professor Resnick makes learning American History interesting by keeping you engaged in the lectures with activities and she is always open to answering questions. I just walked out of her final and felt obligated to write a positive review due to the amount of knowledge I have accumulated about American History from her. Great Professor!
Summer 2014... Best history professor at Elco! Very educated and treats students with respect. She has total control over her class so don't take her smiles and soft voice as sign of weakness. Must complete readings to pass this class and you have to think critically. I will always admire K Resnick..she's aw some!
most kind professor i've had in two years. i loved the way she ended the semester with her family christmas card and a candy cane for each student.
If you are a good Audio learner, this is the class for you. If you can take notes just by listening to a teacher who non-stop talks, she is the one. If you are more of visual learnernote taker. Skip this teachers name every time you see it. Its frustrating not so see a power point slide to take notes and 10x's more when she struggles to play a video.
She's a great person !! teacher as well she just has ADD so beware any movement or noise not coming from her will bother her!!!! she will point it out as well !! if it looks like you're texting she will point it out and if you're not she will apologize reading is average she talks ALOOOOOOT again her ADD. its basically a High School class!!!
Great professor gives you everything you need in order to pass. Her tests are pretty clear and easy. She does have a couple of quirks, however Professor Resnick is not rude about it. There is no Textbook required she hands out all the sheets.
best teacher .. her grading is not so good but if she sees you work hard she will pass you go to class every day and she will learn your name and pick on you because she like you their never NEVER a wrong answer . take her and have fun in her class
Professor Resnick, is one of the most sweetest persons ever. Her lectures are long but the are very interesting. She does have a few pet peeves so beware. If you miss a quiz you can make it up by anwsering the questions in the end of the semester. She offers a midterm and final and two easy essays. TAKE HER! There is also no text book!
Really sweet and caring! Pay attention on her lectures.
Resnick is a gem! she genuinely cares about her students. she's a little odd but shes a real easy grader.
Resnick is awesome! No textbook needed. Few class activities nothing complex!
She's very caring towards her students. She does her best to keep the material interesting and relevant. If you get a bad grade in her class it's your own fault.
She is great! She really cares about her students. She is very approachable. I learned so much from her. Her lectures are fun and interactive. She does a lot of group work, but its always fun. You don't need to buy a text book, lots of handouts. She's very respectful to everyone. I would highly recommend her. Best teacher.
The nicest History teacher ever! She is super caring, and always cracks a joke here and there. Her lectures are so interactive. If you are a hands-on learner, take this class! It's the best! She gives a lot of respect, she justs wants that in return. One of the best college professors I've had ever.
She's really fun, no stress at all, whatsoever. She's very approachable and easy to get along. As a friend, she is sure a blast!
At first, you want to drop the class because of how fast paced she is with notes, the complicated group activities, and her being easily distracted by any little thing you do, but once you look past all that she is an amazing professor. No textbook is needed and be sure to ask questions on things you don't understand. It really helps if you ask! :)
Prof. Resnick was so much fun!!!! Lectures are awesome and made me enjoy history. BUt get ready to read like 10-15 pages a week for a quiz every week. you WONT pass if you don't read.
Although she has a huge heart, quality sense of humor, and is a history book full of knowledge, Resnick is a challenge to follow. Her lectures are sporadic, it can be frustrating to try to make sense of what she is trying to convey, especially if you haven't taken AM HIST 1. But, definitely an easy breezy A.
As far as the class goes, there are 11 quiz's (first one you get 100%) based on 7-10 short readings she'll assign every week or so. There's no textbook! There's a midterm, final exam, and 3 essays. A large amount of your grade comes from participating in class activities. I love her, and loved her class! Easy A if you keep up with the work
She is a great teacher, but do not interrupt her class cause she will stop the entire class to make you stop. She has a reading quiz for 11 chapters , so all you have to do is read the passages and understand them. She has a lot of activities in class in order for you to understand the things more, but they are worth credit, so don't skip class.
Prof. Resnick may seem a little odd and unorganized at first, and her method of lecturing gave me anxiety with how quickly she would talk and become distracted. However, she truly makes sure everyone understands the material before moving forward. I took her in winter and really wished I had held off until the full semester. She teaches cool stuff!
Prof. Resnick is very sensitive to sound, and is distracted easily: DO NOT OPEN A BAG OF ANYTHING DURING HER CLASS. The crinkling sound of wrapping paper will make her uncomfortable and nervous. She hands out outlines for notes and her exams are all based on those notes, and she does fun activities. She gave out fruit snacks after midterm. 5/5!
I took Prof. Resnick last year for Hist 140 and she really is the sweetest Prof and wants you to understand and learn what she is teaching. I turned a couple of papers in late and still got a B. I think if I could of turned those in on time I would have received an A. I highly recommend!
Prof. Resnick is nice and caring but her teaching style doesn't feel fit for college. I understand trying to make learning fun but the class felt more like a high school/middle school history class. Participation is a must no matter how weird the activity is just go along for the grade. 5 essays, weekly quiz on crash course, just do it fr the grade
Resnick is clearly a nice person but she is a bad teacher. The class feels like a literal waste of time everyday. She gets distracted so easily, you cant move or make any motion while she talks or she will get distracted and tell you to stop. She makes us to 5-7 activties a day and the majority of them are a waste of time (coloring???)
Horrible class. I definitely would not recommend her in the slightest. Its an easy A but not worth it, seriously! People briefly mention her ADHD, no it bad like you can't even move a paper without her stopping the whole class to stop you. You can't go to the restroom without being marked tardy. Its literally worse than high school. Avoid if able
Adding on to the last comment. She will mark you absent if you go to the bathroom. And she doesn't give any extra credit. There are 6/7 essays and she doesn't go through the topic just 3-5 sentences and figure out the rest on your own.
She's very nice but you NEED patience when in her class. DO NOT be distracting in class (it infuriates her) Quizzes every class meeting 5 Essays/ 2 in class essays Lots of group work VERY PICKY grader! As long as you do everything to her liking & ONLY her liking, you'll pass
Great turnaround on grading, usually get your papers back the next day (only a few days for essays/midterms)
Professor goes too fast, and treat students like middle schooler. lets be clear we know that were all adults/young adults. she makes a lot of activities that do not make sense or are hard to understand. instead of rushing to make activities that are for children she should spend more time on lectures. If you can take another professor you should.
Course was taken at CSUDH. Professor Resnick assigns quizzes and exams in a different style than normal. Using sources, the quizzes and exams take a keyword/theme and then have you assign that phrase to the specific source; it's impossible to do without reading. She has erratic behavior and gets irritated easily, so pay attention and NOTHING else.
I had her Spring 2020 and before classes went online, she treated the entire class like children. Finger painting and arts and crafts are fun if that's the class you signed up for, but I had her for history and she gives essays every other week, tests sometimes twice a week, and up to 12 assignments weekly. Don't take her class online or in person!
Class contains so many activities, most of which are group projects, that lecture time gets crowded out. Lectures are half-baked at best with hardly any detail, textbook is abandoned in favor of short YouTube videos, and in-class activities often seem tangential to the focus. "Deeper understanding" was so over-emphasized that it never occurred.
So much homework, I spent at least 20 hours a week on all her work and barely managed to score an A. She's specific on what she wants done, and you get approximately 10 assignments a week, not including lectures, crash courses to watch, quizzes, and exams. Got way too much stress from this class.
Pros: She explains what she wants in each part of each assignment, she gives thorough feedback right away Cons: highest grade she gives on essays is a 95%, she's picky and a tough grader Things to know: Lectures are pre-recorded and posted on canvas. Tons of reading for the HW. Take good notes or fail. Final is comprehensive and multiple choice.
Prof Resnick is on the tougher side with homework, but she does give great feedback and is quick to email you back. Do not hesitate to ask her questions or for help, she is super nice!! Overall, I enjoyed the class and learned a lot. Just heads up there is a pretty large amount of work and essay tests!
Prof Resnick seems like a pleasant person outside of class, but she is without a doubt the harshest grader I've ever head. This class is not only extremely difficult to navigate on canvas, but very time consuming and heavily reading/writing orientated. Do not take this class if you are taking other summer/winter credits. Would Not Recommend.
Great lecturer but assigns a lot of very tedious and long work. Grades harsh, will nitpick on the details especially regarding citing evidence. Very approachable, responds to feedback and email very fast. The highest she gives on essays is 95/100.
Professor Resnick is great! The most reading you do is studying the sources for the weekly quizzes. Her lectures are good, and I learned so much about history that I never knew; she grades work timely and provides good feedback. It's like any other class. If you study and try, you'll do well.
You will have a quiz every week, and have to read usually 8-12 pages of reading to study and pass the quiz. She gets distracted very easily, you cant flip a page without her stopping the class to tell you to stop. Offers extra credit at the end. If you go to the bathroom you will be marked tardie, same with going on your phone in classs, tardie.
Such a tough grader, never gave me full credit on any assignment yet. And it has been three weeks since the course started.
>15+ hours of hw assignments, tests, and papers PER WEEK!! Watch lectures thoroughly, questions to hw can ONLY be found in her lecture videos (on avg 20-25 minutes long). Lots of reading and homework, very tedious, and time-consuming. Must put A LOT of effort into this course. But, provides good feedback on assignments. Very harsh grader nitpicks.
This is one of the hardest classes ever.
My experience with Professor Professor's Resnick was very disappointing. The lectures were disorganized and hard to follow. The professor was often unresponsive to emails, making it difficult to get help. Grading was inconsistent, and feedback on assignments was minimal. These issues greatly hindered my learning experience.
She knows her stuff and is a good teacher, but I think her grading is a little too tough. She also sometimes gives very short due dates for assignments.
I'm a parent. I was disappointed, and shocked, that topics like the VIETNAM WAR, TV SERIES, SEXUAL REVOLUTION were given the same amount of teaching time. This professor may not necessarily be at fault, and she may have had no choice but to follow the CA Edu Dpt curriculum. CA Curriculums are so outdated - our kids are NOT LEARNING.
LOT of classwork, more than I expected and she takes points off for some little things, though she is good about leaving comments w good feedback. Essays aren't bad just make sure you follow directions. Its not too hard to get an A, but I feel like this class might require more time and effort than others though Im not sure. I did learn a lot.
Her class was very tedious and time consuming. There was a minimum of 3 assignments per week, and answers can only be found from 20-25 minute lectures, as well as additional clips that were about 10 minutes long. She is a harsh grader who nitpicks on everything, and the highest she gives out is 95%, but she gives good feedback on all assignments.
Lectures are dense but Prof. Resnick provides helpful feedback. Lots of assignments can be tedious, so using resources like unstuck ai alongside the class videos helped me manage the workload. Grading is strict, but the material is engaging if you stay on top of it.
Do not take her.
This professor has okay online lectures. There is a lot of work but manageable if you space it out. She gives good feedback to why you miss points on assignments. She is too paranoid about ChatGPT and flags to much to where it becomes a problem. It was a horrible experience with her because she accused when it wasn't true just for using grammarly.
Really amazing professor. Class is simple, no textbooks as everything comes from her lectures. She does grade easy but does not believe in a perfect grade, so the highest you'll get is 95% even though you got everything correct. She really cares about her students and all lectures were really interesting and essays had clear grading standards.
She's a great teacher, but is super strict. She has a no-technology rule; pulling out your phone is considered an absence. She does not cut any slack and is hard on grading. If you can get over the crazy personality, then you'll be fine, but you'll need to have lots of patience
Lectures were simple she uses PowerPoints , easy if your paying attention. Test every class Super strict on no electronics, She doesn't like loud noises. . She's a caring teacher. In the beginning I was thinking about dropping the class but I warmed up to her. Nice lady good heart.
