This is from a former student of Klint Hull's at SCC. He's just transferred to LCC, and I encourage anyone who is serious about developing writing skills to take his class. His excellence is unquestionable. Thank you.
Teaches things in a different way. Not always easy. Must do assignments EXACTLY how told. When you do things how he wants it reflects in your grades.

Expects everything done the way he wants. If not turned in on time, you lose points, even if you were sick. I really don't like this class.
His class wasn't easy, but this IS college. He handed out examples of essays so we did know exactly what was expected and he made himself available and approachable for any help that we needed. He took the extra effort to help if we asked and he seemed to sincerely care about his students as individuals. I learned so much from this class.

Instructors who care are valuable. This is one. He truly wants to teach and assist his students in their learning...but that part is their responsibility. If you want to learn, if you make the effort, you will find this instructor genuinely helpful and entirely on your side. That's all I have to say about that.
Great teacher! Cares about his students and their learning.
Very nice and friendly. Makes the classroom a comfortable place to be.
Negative feedback and learning environment. No syllabus with content for the quarter listed. Very difficult to understand his direction and if you get it wrong, you get no credit.
I took his 101 class at LCC in the fall of 2006 and found it extremely helpful; I even later enrolled in his 102 class because of his teaching. He genuinely cares about your learning, and enforces the fact that learning isn't up to the instructor; it's up to the student. It's a tough class, but I'd recommend it to anybody.
Sweet guy! Wouldn't mind 1 night (oops did I say that). Good instructor
Really nice and funny but doesn't really teach at all, all papers are ONLY "peer edited", you get no other feedback until your final grade, occasional loads of online reading sometimes articles you have to look up yourself. really laid back guy + really hard grader = very hard class to get a decent grade in. DON'T TAKE!!!
This class is very difficult but you will learn a lot. If all you care about is grades then this class is not for you. Hull will teach you how to become a better writer and how to effectively edit papers. I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in learning.
Avoid at all costs. If you can't understand the reading material, he will blame it on you. If you are having trouble with an assignment, he has no concept of how to explain it in a way that is more helpful. My entire class had a problem with him that we had to go to the dean to solve. AWFUL experience; I wish the website would let me say more.
He's a nice guy but wrong profession. Absolutely no clue what's going on in this class, the entire class has had problems. Would be nice to have a freakin clue what my grade was also. Oh, and by "online enhanced" he means online class with some time in a classroom that's pretty much meaningless.
This class is absolutely impossible. It is "ANGEL enhanced," but it's completely online. The directions are to be followed and any mistake will cost you points. I wrote a paper that got an A, but because of directions on ANGEL not followed correctly, it dropped to a 70. Everybody in my class agrees, DEFINITELY AVOID.
This class was the absolute worst class that I have ever taken at LCC. "ANGEL enhanced" means online with pointless class meetings. If you do well on your paper he will dock you points for how you post your paper. Many people in my class got A's on their paper and he dropped it to a D or C. This class was a waste of money and time. AVOID THIS CLASS
terrible teacher... do not take him, he takes forever to grade an assignment and marks down for saving YOUR OWN file on YOUR OWN computer not the way he wants, avoid at all costs, total waste of time i learned nothing. and he avoids confrontation.
Very helpful, always willing to help outside of class & understanding of sickness. Grades hard, but if you FOLLOW DIRECTIONS you won't get docked for format.
Avoid! Online class had very confusing directions, almost no feedback (peer only) and it took weeks to get essay scores. Does not provide grades or scores for the forum participation so you have no idea what your grade is. I learned nothing but MLA format which I can get from a book. Very strict homework policies: does not accept anything late.
Horrible! My essays were good and I still failed. No feedback ever and when I did get it, it was no help. Don't take this class!!
Horrid, extremely hard grader. Do not take his class, my last English class I made the Dean's list, I will be close to failing this class. It takes so long for the first grade to come in, so long that you can no longer drop his class. I think this is intentional.
He was a hard instructor, but very informative. The class was mostly about writing arguments and he was clever in teaching us critical thinking. The only problem I has that he does not post grades in a timely manner so it is difficult to improve from one paper to another.
This was my hardest class at LCC and probably one of the ones I learned the most from. He emphasizes heavily on critical thinking, analysis and logic in his papers, and expects peer response discussions to be similar. He's not that strict. If you talk to him, he's fine with making exceptions (for good reasons). If you want to learn, take his class.
Great class for anyone who wants to learn to write creatively. It's a class for all levels of ability and everyone learns something new. The last day of class we had a waffle breakfast party. The class makes you think, but what you learn stays with you.
He's a good lecturer but a terrible grader. We didn't get any grades back until after midterm and the rest of our papers were pretty much graded on participation. He also expected us to show up and conduct class ourselves when he didn't show, which happened multiple times. He was a nice guy, but I would never take a class from him again.
By far the worst teacher I have had so far. Without feedback on our work, we did not know what needed improvement and what was good. Was not taught how to improve our writing, it was more of a debate class than a writing class. He may be a good teacher for other classes but not for English 101.
Rude when going over creative writing assignments. Made me decide to never write again.
I took this class during Spring quarter. There was an insane amount of homework assigned with unclear instructions. He never liked anyone's work and none of my classmates liked the class. Do not take a class with this professor.
Klint Hull is a phenomenal instructor if you truly want to learn. He's the kind of instructor that will try to guide you in the right direction, but he's not going to hold your hand and place you in front of the answer. If I could take this class over again, I would in an instant. I definitely recommend taking his class!
Too much homework, especially reading. I have this class Monday and Wednesday, and he assigned something on Wednesday and failed to tell us it was actually due on Friday through Canvas, so we got no credit due to it being late. Why should I think it was due 3 days before the next class?
The reading load was insane to expect from anyone. While I was in there, he never posted what the homework was and expected you to just know. It was pretty much a debate class, and most of our homework was done in groups with one lucky winner being the paper he graded. No feedback to improve my own work. Not even grading.
Ridiculous amounts of homework for a general English class. Makes us do random assignments that we dont even do anything with at all and isn't even related to the course. Completely unfair grading, especially group assignments. And just plain boring. Not recommended.
Biggest concern was very little direct feedback. Group work is present through the entirety of the course. The first assignment that I had received feedback on was past the half-way point through the course. Poor use of class time, inconsistent grading, too much reading, not enough learning exercises, final group presentation 20% of grade, too much
Klint Hull will make you hate writing. This is a 200 level class and yet he found it fit to lecture for two hours on remedial subjects. He was plain rude when critiquing our work. He seems to think himself a god of writing. Everything you say is wrong, even if you read it right out of the book to him. Save yourself and your GPA, avoid his courses.
He had very high standards, even for college. I would say his standards were almost unrealistic in fact.
I work very hard to earn my grades and I was told that I was a grade chaser and would not get an A because I did not respect the learning process. He would not give me credit for a revised paper because I named it a rough draft. Ridiculous. We started with 16 students and ended with 4. Has no respect for woman and is a rude man.
Honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. Incredibly knowledgeable on writing and an all around intelligent person. Not an easy teacher by any means, but gives good feedback on your writing. If you're looking to slack off in a class don't take him, but if you want to improve on your writing skills his class is for you.
Klint Hull is very rude and I got the vibe that he doesn't like running start students. Only take this class if you want to hate your life. Awful teacher and doesn't make any sense. You have to buy like 5 books for the class.
Not a good teacher and a mean person. Really believes he is all knowing and if you don't agree with his opinion he won't explain himself he will just laugh and tell you are wrong. He is hated by my whole class of 13 people. We used to have twenty something but more and more people drop out as the course goes on. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
This guy should not be teaching English 101. Maybe he's a better fit for teaching more advanced classes. My confidence has been destroyed. This one class seeped negativity into every aspect of my life.
Wouldn't reccomend taking him. He's rude and won't straight up answer your question. His grading is hard and it's very important you show up to class or you won't pass. There's a ton of reading and you're put in groups. Also prepare for a lot of essays. If you're religious, don't mention it to him.
Klint was willing to give feedback on my writing, and helped me to find ways to keep getting better. He's tough but fair.
I received a B on our final 15 page paper. When told to correct three mistakes for an A, I was given an F because I didn't correct them to his standards. Therefore, I failed my first class. This class focused on Science and off topic subjects, in my opinion. Multiple assignments going on all at one time. Debates, projects, and papers. Tough class.
If you do the work it's an easy class to pass. Unfortunately he didn't give any feedback/grades until after finals week. He tends to talk. A lot. We did little to no work for like five weeks & towards the end there was so much to do(group project) & he gave little info on big projects and acted like we still had weeks to go. Would not take again
If you have no life outside of this class, and your only taking this class you might survive. By far my worst experience in continuing education. Will be looking into another school for English classes.
Very strict on grading and gives no motivation whatsoever for students. He's terrible at giving feedback and everything is so broad in his statements. Have a question? Forget it. He'll answer your question with another question, makes you feel stupid at times and makes you even more confused. Potentially the worst class I've ever taken.
Drones on and on about irrelevant things during class and does nothing to help outside of class. I met with him in his office twice for help with my papers and he refused to even look at them and just gave me vague, generic suggestions. His grading style is irregular at best and often slow, our second paper was due before he graded the first one.
I thought I was a good writer until I took this class. He is a tough grader. He assigns the next essay before grading the one before. I would not recommend him. He does not give good feedback either.
Tons of reading, Four Essays, and lots in between. Requires a lot, and standards are strict.
Hate that he doesn't accept late assignments. Lots of busy work that doesn't contribute to my learning. Beware of Hull.
Unclear assignment prompts, heavy in online assignments. Puts students in a group in class to talk about prompts we were given so he doesnt have to teach. Borderline rude to students, despite bragging about being a director of communications for a company. Dont waste your money and time taking courses from this professor.
Dont recommend this class at all with Hull. I used to think that my writing was pretty good, considering that I passed a UW English class with an A. Doesnt grade anything on time, and if so its at the end of the quarter. Tons of lecturing, not enough teaching. Has students grade other students papers so he doesnt have to, then expects nice papers.
Klint is a great professor if you are one of those people who really loves English. There is lot's of reading/ homework but he does a good job making sure that people are not only doing the work but understanding it as well. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO PUT IN THE EFFORT FOR AN A, this is kind of an all or nothing class.
You read a lot of and then write essays (3)on them. You also will read in the textbook and do many quizzes on them. Waits till the last minute to grade mostly all of the assignments and leaves a lot of feedback on your writing but it's not very helpful.
Chose this class specifically because it didn't have a live lecture. Three days before class started he surprised us with mandatory live lectures. Inputs a due date but wants it turned in days before. Lectures talked mostly about homework. LOTS of peer reviews. Grades tough for a beginning class even on the first essay. Vague feedback. Grades late.
I learned nothing from his zoom lectures. He would mostly talk about our homework and rarely answered questions directly. He also doesn't review any of your papers unless you reach out to him for it. Every paper you write will be reviewed by your peers, who know as much as you do. His feedback on assignments are all very vague. Also grades late.
So unprofessional. Had more desire to talk to students about Minecraft than to actually grade in a timely manner, or provide any kind of constructive feedback. Class was unorganized, he didn't even have all assignments created, much less due dates for them until nearly the third week of the term. There is a reason his rating is what it is. Heed it.
Probably the worst class experience for a student taking college classes for the first time. He's vary inflexible when it comes to submissions dates. He hardly offers any help when it comes to assignments and often goes off topic on the lectures. Always late on grading which makes it hard to fix an assignment when you dont get a grade till the end.
Who knew creative writing was pain? Klint Hull is oblivious to the sensitivities of others, and his class stifles creativity. His formatting demands are a never-ending nightmare, and I only had a few days to come up with an idea that I had to work on for WEEKS no matter how bad the original idea turned out to be. The class time is super boring, too
This professor is so disorganized. He has due dates listed as one date on Canvas, but then your initial submission is due 2 days earlier. He also forces you into group projects, even in completely online classes. Usually this means that 1 or 2 people end up with the workload of the entire group. There are much better English instructors at LCC
I had Klint for Creative Writing two years ago, and I truly enjoyed it! The class structure can be confusing, but it's not a problem to ask for clarification. Usually reading the syllabus will answer a question about due dates or grading. If you read the textbook, follow the prompt, come up with creative ideas, and submit on time, you're good!
Klints class was very tough, he was a tough grader and didnt allow much room for error.
I have had a lot of english teachers, just none like Mr. Hull. This was a very difficult course, and he is extremely not understanding. Even when you have technical issues, he will not change your grades. He is very backhanded, and doesn't give great feedback. If you are looking for an A or 4.0, do not take English 101 or 102 with him.
An overall unpleasant class
I assume the only reason Klint hasn't been fired is because he's tenured. I took his class online; it was extremely stressful and time consuming. This from a combination of factors, including (but not limited to!) an unorganized online classroom, unclear due dates, and assignments in multiple places paired with an extremely strict late work policy.
Do not take his classes. You will completely regret it.
I had never failed or dropped a class before until this man... Everything was so random and unclear, disorganized, with no late work, overly heavy workload, harsh grader, etc... I was failing (I have been an advanced, straight A, English student my entire life) and had to drop it. Avoid him.
If you need an English credit, I highly suggest taking another instructor. Klint has very harsh grading policies with an unmanageable amount of coursework. After five weeks of class, he had yet to grade a single assignment. It is hard to move forward with the assignments when he is not giving adequate feedback promptly.
DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM. The main assignments of the class are peer response assignments. If a single one of your responses is late you get a zero. He grades all of the assignments like 3 days before the quarter ends. He grades essays super hard, I do not think me or my friend got over a B on any of the 4 essays we wrote.
From inside sources; one of the main reasons this dude hasn't been fired is the fact that he has tenure. Most that have worked with him know he is just a plainly bad teacher. From harsh late work policies compounded with a terribly organized canvas, to 'mandatory' zoom meetings in an asynchronous class, this man will make your life difficult.
First week had 0 assignments. Next week had 14 due in 1 day. We wrote 3 essays and a final essay. By the time we were done writing our 3rd essay, he finally graded our 1st and gave feedback. He is super late on grading and waits last minute. I didn't know my grade until the last week of the semester after the 26 assignments he graded in 1 day.
DO NOT TAKE CLASS WITH HIM!!! he made my life so terrible that I went under severe mental issues. I cried several times when opening my grade. He grades harshly, and the feedback is difficult to understand. He overexplains the assignments that are easy to understand but when something isn't because he is unclear of his words he doesn't say anything
Klint was one of the most difficult professors to work with. If you want to keep your 4.0, do NOT take this class. He is a late grader, and downright a rude person. Please save yourself by taking any other professor instead of this one.
The organization of this class was just hell. If you're not good at writing before this class, fret not, you won't learn a thing. There were many different places you had to look for assignments; it was a nightmare to keep on schedule. The class relies on peer review, and if your classmates aren't good at writing, don't expect any kind of feedback.
Awful teacher! Did not provide me with enough information to finish the class! I had to drop out because he ghosted me for weeks. tough on grading and overexplains information. Hard to understand, doesn't care about fair grading. Very secular and gross textbook for ENGL-101, and NOT good format for ENGL 102.
He has dropped the group projects. There is still 4 essays you have to write, 2 being about 2-3 pages, 1 being about 6-8, and the main one being 10-12 pages. He likes to start working on another essay while we are in the middle of an essay. There is a LOT of reading everyday so be ready.
Talkative guy but an enthusiastic teacher
This class is very participation based. There are several papers of increasing length as the quarter goes on, with multiple opportunities for peer feedback. We had several "work" days that were optional attendance during the quarter. There is a lot of homework, but class time was fun and typically a group conversation.
Relatively easy work to do when it comes to the reading assignments. He takes a more academic point of view to writing papers that may seem a lot harder to those who are used to writing more freely. A lot of issues can be solved by attending class as it is heavily group effort, you need to participate to get the most out of his class.
I'm a former student of KH's, and it's come to my attention that some of his recent students have been coordinating to leave dishonest negative feedback (even going as far as to ask their friends who haven't enrolled in his classes to leave feedback). I took 10+ courses from him at LCC, and they were all great. Don't believe lies. Character Limit.
If you stay organized, use outside sources, communicate with Mr.Hull, and understand that higher education is complex and intricate, you will succeed. Above all, Professor Hull is a good person; he treats his students with respect, fairness, and empathy.
8 assignments on day 1 two ve done within 2 days. Qith one asigment to read over and study the syllabus for a quiz. Does not except late work making keepung up with his class and other classes difficult. Do not recommend him as a teacher.
He's very understanding and an easy grader as long as you meet the criteria which is clearly stated in every assignment.
if u reading this do your self a favor and dont take this class 101 or 102
I retook my Eng 101 class with a different professor after receiving a 0/100 on an essay because I did not show enough revision in my paper. What he wanted to see was misspelled words that would be corrected in the final draft. I do not write that way and that feels sloppy to me. He was a jerk. Mavourneen Rister is amazing, I would recommend!
This was one of the best classes I have taken, and much of that is due to the instructor's support. He consistently provided clear, thoughtful, and constructive feedback. His comments on assignments were detailed and encouraging, which made the revision process feel purposeful and manageable.
