Worst teacher ever, he's a little scary also. do not take him, trust me.
Very hard final. We had 1:15 to do 35 questions.
he has no clue what he is talking about, final is Hard!!!!
Excellent prep. for BA 617. Challenging, good for graduate studies.
He makes it clear what we should focus on.
It's hard, but he actually cares that you learn... great teacher
He has a take home final which is a surprise. It is a lot harder than the 2 previous exams. Careful!!! Must know theory and your stuff real well!

A TUTOR IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS CLASS.
You have to do the homework and go to class. The final was hard, but he curved it. I learned a lot.
Haddad tries to intimidate students and his tests are fairly complicated. Seek help from a private finance tutor and you'll have a competitive advantage over others in the class.
A very nice friendly person, & equally good professor, take home final was indeed hard but it was supposed to make one think before answering raher than just going through book. Certainly A very good professor
I hate this teacher. Took him in the Summer 03. Not helpful at all! Hard time understanding his lectures and when someone asks him a question, he'd put them down.
Hard as Hell and he likes it that way. Complex cases that are next to impossible to interpret. Work with a PRIVATE FINANCE TUTOR to get help analyzing the cases or Haddad will crucify you.
Take this class, it is really easy if you know fin 327 and fin 325. He is a nice guy and will help you if you have questions.
Worst teacher i have ever had. Dont beleive anyone who says he is good. Immpossible to understand lectures, and seldom answers your questions without putting you down. Tests are insane. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER YOU WILL NOT GET A GOOD GRADE!
If you like to gamble take this class, if you like teaching yourself finance, take this class, If you like taking your tests in different formats every time, take this class. Good luck and may god be with you!!!!
This guy sucks!!!!! Tests are very hard, class is boring. good luck passing!!!!
Get a smart, good, hard working group who will be willing to meet all the time. This class requires a lot of time commitment. BE AWARE! MOST IMPORTANT: ASK questions in class. If you get A's on your presentation you WILL STILL GET A C, if you don't ask.
I'M ALMOST DONE WITH THIS CLASS. OVERALL, IT'S A FREAKING HARD, TIME CONSUMING CLASS. IT'S A 100% TIME & EFFORT COMMITMENT CLASS...HADDAD IS NOT THAT BAD YOU GUYS..HE'S NICE TO TALK TO...HE SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND A LOT WHAT WE ARE GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW
terrible teacher
Tough subject to learn. If you take the time to work on the material Mr. Haddad is more than glad to help you. He leaves plenty of time for questions each class and is always at his office hours for additional help. Make the effort and he will help you.
He is the worst teacher ever. He makes a tough class misreable. He cant teach if his life depended on it. Avoid at all costs.
very helpful and always availablegood balance of theory and applications
Class is pretty tough. He only lectures the first two weeks of class. You're only in class for like an hour a week for a 4 unit class, but u need to spend a lot of time out of class working on the presentations and/or interogations
B O R I N G, but helps you a LOT, nice guy !
Nice guy but really bad a teaching fin. have of the class was lost, if not more. gives only two midterms throughout the semester which makes the class more difficult than it is. He should be your last option. and if you do take him, good luck.
Uses terminology and symbols not used in book which makes it difficult to follow for those MBA's with little or no finance background. He knows the material, he just doesn't know how to teach it. Not a good communicator. Seems bored teaching the subject.
He is a very nice guy and likes to help students.
This class was an astronomical waste of time. He lectures on topics that were covered in every class leading up to this so called capstone. Learned nothing from him, his class, or my pathetic group. Read the book titled "Valuation" that he sug
Take the class during inter-session/summer - Was not too difficult - Teacher O.K.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
he's a really nice guy, but can't teach all that well. u have to do all the problems he suggests so that u understand it. his lectures don't cover anything on the test. he goes into how finance came to be, not showing u how to do the problems. u have to ask if u want him to do a problem.
he is one of the worst professors and can't teach. don't take him cause he is terrible
Very Helpful and wants to help you learn the subject. Not an esay subject but the best professor you will get for this type of class.
Not the best teacher in the world but he's willing to go out of his way to help you ONLY if you go to his office. He is pretty unclear most of the time.
Very nice man. Lectures are on topic and very interesting. He wants everyone to do well. He struggles w/ questions, doesn't try to understand where students confusion comes from. Do all the home work, know the concepts. Don't use your notes because he uses different symbols. Study the book in depth.
He means well but Prof H is not a good teacher at all. You might as well teach your self the material because he just goes through the motions because that's what he gets paid to do. If I had to give anyone advice, I would say just do EVERY hw problem 5 times and you'll pass.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR, worthless and stupid. But I still recommend him because you are guaranteed a B-C grade as long as you show up to class, turn in the strategy papers (EASY), and ask the presenters some decent questions. Don't let yourself get intimidated when he clowns you in front of the class. He does this to make himself feel better.
Nice, helpful and overall he's genuinely a good professor. It's a difficult course not b/c of Haddad but, b/c of all the time and effort that was needed . You can't slack off! FIN 423 is about being able to apply the concepts you've already learned to real life cases. He grades you on the amt of work and effort you put into each assignment.
Not an easy class but a great professor. He will work with you as much as possible. He really wants his students to learn and understand. Is really helpful and understands the class is hard. There is a lot of work involved so dont get behind. Be selevtive with your group because the whole class is group work. Easy to get a good grade just work hard

I HATE finance and was doing horrible in the class but he is a really understanding professor and is always available and willing to help you. This class is a lot of work but I think he explains things a lot better than some of the other professors and he is really nice.
Take class after all other fin. classes. Meant to pull all concepts together. Not a lecture class. Prof. is not meant to help much, only a guide. Haddad will do what he can but most of the learning comes from you & rour group. Recruit a group before you take the class. This is a chance to learn a lot if your group is willing to work.
Although Finance can be difficult at times Haddad is a pretty good professor. There are only 3 exams and Prof. Haddad is a lenient and easy grader...he'll give you partial credit even though the answer is wrong if you show the work. I'm not saying he's easy because you still have to do the homework for practice, but he's very helpful and pretty fle
This was by far my favorite class at state. Not easy and a huge struggle, but well worth it. If you want to work with finance in the future, this class will teach you lessons that will stay with you forever. Awseome teacher!
They should sell shirts that say you survived this class, cause it's extremely hard. But don't let that discourage you cause you do learn A LOT from this class. You apply ALL you learned from previous classes to this one class. Be sure to pick a very smart group, that could make or break your grade.
Worst in SDSU ever!!! Avoid at all cost!!! He is the meanest person I have ever known. The class grade is largely subjective to his opinion other than T/F, multiful choices. He knows nothing about Fin 423. What he did was trying to repeat Fin 325. HE IS A xxxxxxx!!!!!
HORRIBLE AND MEANEST AND WORTHLESS!!!!
What the **** have you done to students? Pull their grades down at the last semester... You know want, you are still a looser teaching in the classroom. We would be soon in real finance business!!!!
Choose this prof!
Awful! The only good thing about this class was the textbook, which I actually learned from. Nothing from him!! First midterm was okay, second hard, final was take home but half the information wasn't covered in class or in the book! Waste of time. Treats you like an idiot if you ask any questions. Not recommended at all!
What a jackass. I don't know what is wrong with Haddad, but he may as well just post a sign on his office door recommending students seek the help of a private finance tutor since we get virtually nothing in the way of assistance from him.
DONT BOUT THE RUDE COMMENTS BUT I THINK HE TEACHES WELL. MANY SAY HE DOESNT TEACH BUT WHEN HE'S EXPLAINING HE'S JUST TRYING TO RELATE THE TOPIC. JUST KNOW YOUR FORMULAS AND DO CHPTR EXMPLS ON THE BOOK WHICH HE DOESN'T REQUIRE N U'LL GET AN EASY B.STUDIED NIGHT BEFORE N FLUNKED MY FINALS AND I GOT A C+ CUD'VE BEEN A B IF I SCORED 50%UP ON FINALS
I thought he was a pretty cool teacher, I felt like i learned alot, he doesn't really lecture but its just part of the class. Make sure you ask questions and get a good group. When it comes to the case studies your numbers can be totally off, but make sure you explain how you got them and why. He cares more about your methods than your answers
The exams were progressively more difficult, but he had a very generous curve and he graded very leniently. As long as you show your work and show understanding, you should do fine. He's a great professor to get to know as he is extremely knowledgeable and has published many articles.
What a waste of time. You don't learn anything because even after you've made a fool of yourself in your presentation, he doesn't show the right way to solve the case. It's because he himself doesn't know how. Office hours are a complete waste of time. Advice: get into a good group or your life will be a living nightmare for 16 weeks
This guy is not fit to teach this class. Shows up late every time and barely pays attention during presentations. All I gotta say is, pick your group very carefully!
S T R E S S, S T R E S S, S T R E S S, S T R E S S.... all you do is stress and you still won't get a good grade.
let me tell ya willis, you ain't got that many choices for this class. u will get a stress tumor, but sac up and get your first D+. be a man about it. or a burly woman
He is terrible. Can't teach. Doesn't Listen. Worst ever. Unfortunately, i think he is the only one who teaches it, so GOOD LUCK.
Did all of the work, did all of the reading. Did well on the presentations and spoke up in class. Ended up with a C in the class and I'm furious. This man doesn't teach, he's a spectator. Doesn't give useful advice, and tells you to read irrelevant articles for your cases that in the end you don't use. Tremendous amount of effort for no reward.
I'd rather take Frank Ryan's Fin 325 class 50 times over again than spend one more semester with this incompetent buffoon
Hardest teacher I have ever taken. He may know a lot about finance but has no clue how to teach or write tests. You know its bad when over 90% of the class fails the final. Do you best to avoid taking him.
This was by far the hardest and biggest waste of time class I have ever taken. I have never received a C in my life before and I got a D- in this class. Haddad doesn't teach this class, he tells you it's your job to figure it out on your own. Take any other teacher over Haddad. He is the most awful proffesor I have taken!
Terrible teacher. Doesnt go over problems in class, expects you to learn from the textbook which is atrocious. Gives pop quizzes that are open note/open book yet everyone got a 0 because he doesnt teach! good luck
This professor is ineffective, at best. Not only a poor teacher and hard to understand, but you will never know where you stand in the class due to his insane grading policy. no homework is a plus, but i would only recommend this teacher if you are looking to hide out in the back and teach yourself EVERYTHING. Hard tests also.
Terrible teacher. Hard to understand. Not helpful in answering questions. He doesn't grade or collect hw, but expects you to do it, and if he thinks you didn't, he won't answer questions. Lectures were all over the place, no PP or notes. NO examples in class, basically had to teach yourself before every exam. HUGE curve bc entire class failed.
Definitely a time consuming class, but well worth it. Learned most from the experience of this class. Strategic papers are simple, but probably the only break you get. Spent 24+ hrs per case study (3 cases). Used only the FIN325 book and case book. Don't need the others. Be active in class, ask everything you can, and you will do great. Also, only one test (final) and it was nothing compared to doing the cases. He is cool once you get to know him too.
Lectures are helpful, but reading the book is most important. Test difficulty depends on how much effort you make... if you read all the chapters and do all the recommended problems, you will likely do well on the tests. Not nearly as difficult as some comments make him out to be - most likely from students that aren't used to giving strong effort.
He's a good professor. Anyone that is commenting negatively either weren't prepared this class or didnt get what he was trying to accomplish. The class is basically about learning to create a stance in a group on a subject and defend it, not to have perfect financial calculations. Alot of people dont get that and stuggle. Pretty easy class.
He's very helpful and interesting.
Besides from being a professor this guy is a GOOD MAN! He has been through hell and back to get where he is today. I have so much respect for him and all that he's done! The most interesting part of the whole semester was this last Tuesday when he told his life story. Very interesting!!! Much respect...even if I don't get a good grade! Inspiration!
One of the BEST in the Department. He is the type of professor you wished you had earlier in your career. He expects a TON from each student, more than you expect from yourself too. You need participate in each class and ask questions. Take advantage of how helpful he is as he wants the best for his students. Be prepared to WORK and study HARD.
Unfair and only knows the teaching world and academia, does not know real world knowledge of the subject. You will work your butt off the entire semester and those who don't work in your group end up getting a better grade than you. There is nothing real world about this class, as in the real world, you get rewarded for your hard work. AVOID!
Basically, attendance is mandatory because he does randomly takes attendance. We had 3 tests this semester. The first one is super easy if you know how to use your financial calculator. Google how to. 2nd exam was hard. Thought people cheated so the last exam was cumulative. Worst exam in my life. Avoid taking him if possible.
Literally worst professor ever. Has no idea what he's doing.. Shocked he's allowed to teach.
If you attend classes and complete the assigned homework, you will do well in this class. This professor is very knowledgeable, but has a hard time explaining material in a way students understand.
Absolutely horrible. Like the rest of the finance classes, prepare to learn nothing and kiss your GPA goodbye. Shows up late if he even shows up at all, doesn't lecture, talks in riddles, mumbles. A bunch of humiliating group presentations which are graded more so on delivery rather than content. Says he wants to help, but doesn't help at all.
Case studies are your grade. Listen to how he rips apart the first group that presents. Class during presentations is an open forum, and students will throw you every kind of question they can to get their participation points. At the end of the class, you will know DCF valuations forwards and backwards. Read the books, they are your only hope.
Nice guy but sucks at teaching. Taught myself the entire class with the bookyoutube. 1st test is easy next ones are nothing like it but you get two pages of notes each test and curves. HW optional but its how i learned the material as he posts the solutions. Will helpanswer any hw questions. Will move tests back if class asks. wants kids to pass.
Finance majors need a good foundation to succeed. Haddad will prepare you will all the tools you need in order to succeed in finance at SDSU. I recommend not taking an easy teacher for this material. The basics of Time value money is important! Great professor, that will challenge to read and learn the material. He has 35 years experience in FIN
I took Haddad in the summer for this class. The cases that you analyze in this class with help you get a job. TRUST ME! Great professor that will challenge you but you will learn a lot. You have to read, participate, and want to learn to succeed in this class. I enjoyed this class and learning from Haddad. GREAT PROFESSOR!
This was a great class to take for my senior year. Professor Haddad will have great insight on finance material needed to succeed in the professional world. Read all the books recommended , and you will have easier time understanding the cases and analyzing the financial documents. All in all great professor with a lot of knowledge
Great professor to learn from at SDSU
Finance master!!!!
There are several books assigned to this (non-lecture) course that are vital to your overall success. He does not answer any questions but don't take it personal Bc it's part of the growing process of completing the cases. Participation is crucial to your overall grade so don't slack off when your team doesn't have to present. Keep your composure!
rambling lectures, gets mad if you ask for homework help in class, grades brutally. the textbook will get you through, just immerse yourself in it 100% and do all the homework before the tests. good curve at least....
His teaching style is not structured. He doesn't use PPTs. He rambles about topics that don't relate to finance. He gives "homework" problems but they aren't for a grade. The answer key is helpful, but you just teach yourself the material. Grade is composed of 3 exams. Rude & argumentative. Doesn't communicate well. Not helpful to his students.
This professor is a GOOD guy. He wants everyone to succeed, but only if you show up to class everyday and do the homework problems from the textbook. Grades are composed from three exams. Also, don't be afraid to ASK questions.
He will not help you on what he perceives as you being expected to know on the case studies. None at all! The interrogations are for students to think of something you didn't provide in your study and make you look bad. Or, they'll pick the hardest thing and make you explain it in detail. It's your group vs the rest of the class, dog eat dog type..
By far, the best finance professor at SDSU. He really cares about his students and wants them all to succeed. His class is challenging, but extremely rewarding because you actually are able to learn a lot from it. Unlike some other finance professors, like Kolman, etc., he actually teaches the material and doesn't just share stories. Take him.
He's one of the best & is very passionate about helping his students! Prof Haddad was not lying when he said that this class was meant to help us prepare for the real world. Immediately after I had graduated, I was put in the same environment where my team & I had to do Q&As after numerous presentations in front of about 20-30 professionals.
This professor has an old school teaching style but I promise that you will learn! Don't worry about grading because he grades based upon student's willingness to learn. Reading and struggling with assignments is apart of this class as it will help you in the real world when you have an actual job! He is an amazing teacher and person!
Professor Haddad is a professional and knows business/finance inside and out with hundreds and hundreds of connections in the real world. You may think he is out to get you but he is trying to prepare you. Please take him any change you get he is the best professor i have ever had. He is super friendly to talk to and only wants to help his students
This class is treated like a professional setting so attendance and participation in class is mandatory. Haddad is an amazing guy and just wants to help his students learn. HE DOES NOT TAKE BS, and he knows when students don't know what they are talking about. Swallow your pride and get ready to learn cus i guarantee you don't know much!
Lectures are scattered and do not align with the difficulty of the homework. He's argumentative, makes concepts overly complex, and your reliance on A+ Review is probably your best shot at a decent grade. I would recommend finding another professor for this course if you can help it.
Great professor of Finance. Teaching style is aligned with the real world where no one holds your hand. You have to read, and analyze the material carefully before you ask for help (no pain, no gain). He will make you a top finance student if you follow his recommendations and are committed to learning the material and study hard.
Experienced, hands off teaching style is great. Makes you think and work for your grade which is like the real world. No hand holding in this capstone course. Group projects and lots of analysis. If you're weak in finance principles, Excel and need hand holding, you will struggle big time as he has high expectation of all students. Fair & caring.
Skip class? You wont pass. Go to class, you still won't pass. Material reviewed in class doesn't help with the homework. You're required to purchase a financial calculator, but he won't show you how to use it (also does every problem by hand which takes 30mins/question). Need to leave class early? He will stop the lecture and tell you to sit down.
By far the worst professor I have had at SDSU, lectures are unorganized and make no sense, he is rude to students, the homework is extremely difficult and time consuming and will not help you on his difficult exams which he does not give you enough time to finish. There is no point in attending his terrible lectures but attendance is mandatory.
The mandatory attendance is no joke. He finds ways to randomize the check in (paper sign in/ random name calling/end-of-class sign in) to force kids to show. Lectures can help for a specific problem, but it is whatever he decides to go over and is anti any suggestions. The tests are hard, so you need to be prepared to teach yourself with the text.
The worst teacher I have ever had in my entire school career.
Easily the worst professor I've ever had. Teaches content in a way that won't apply to the way we need to approach the problems for exams, doesn't even give you the whole class period to take the exam and doesn't follow his own syllabus. If you ask him a question, he will find a way to be as demeaning as possible to the students.
Do NOT take this professor.
Just don't take this professor. In this class we have to use financial calculator for most of the question, and he didn't teach any of them. His lecture is hard to understand, because the content has no logic order. He has a lot of online homework is way more difficult. Just take another professor class if you have choice.
Prof Haddad is a very good teacher. He is well respected and knows what he is doing. He really cares about the students but you have to be able to put in the effort. As long as you keep up with reading the book and attend the lectures you will be fine. I would highly recommend taking this class.
Haddad has a different teaching method than most SDSU Professors, you're expected to read the material before and come in with as many questions so that he could explain them in more detail. If you feel like there's more you wished was covered, he'll sit with you for hours until you comprehend the material. I HIGHLY recommend taking his class!
Haddad has a different teaching method where he doesn't teach at all and generally just ruins your life. Easily the worst professor I could have ever imagined. His homework assignments take insane amounts of time and a significant portion of the homework that you struggle to complete, never even correlates to the exam.
By far the worst professor I have ever had in my life. Not only does he struggle to help complete questions he gives us on our HW, but most of the questions he gives us don't even appear on the actual exam. I had better teachers in high school. I've had to teach myself everything about finance this semester because he fails to do so. Don't take him
If dyou are going to take this class, make sure you have at least 25 hours a week to dedicate to it. Haddad wont teach you anything so youll need to learn everything yourself . Since nobody has this kind of time, Im sure you get the point...
Mr. Haddad is a nice person but extremely scattered when it comes to teaching. He doesn't take time to know his students but rather spews gossip about his class. Although I like him as a person, I will never take him again for any course and would recommend you do the same. Nothing lined up and lectures were all over the place.
Professor Haddad is a nice person and is very intelligent. This is why he is head of the finance department. However he is not a good teacher. This will easily be the worst class you take. It was a horrible experience for about at least 300 of the students and also the professor. I would be surprised if he is teaching next semester. Dont take him.
Hw took me over200 hours for the semester on cengage. Exams are crazy hard and what he teaches doesnt correlate to the exam. Go to A+ if u have to take this prof. I barely passed the final to get the min grade. But he curved me to a C b/c the class was so hard. taught everything myself and studied with friends all the time. Thank god i didnt repeat
Great professor who expects you to work for your grade, but will reward you in the end. He has high expectations. I took this course in 2 weeks during the winter session and I have never learned so much from one professor. He knows what hes talking about and cares about his students. Hesitant to take course because of reviews but totally worth it.
Avoid his class at all costs. Homework takes hours on end since he never taught the material and it never winds up being close to whats on the test. He's disrespectful in class and on top of that he doesn't teach because hes too busy telling you to read the syllabus. He tells students he'll boost their grade if they rate him highly on here so yeah.
His teaching style IS AWFUL! YOU better know Finance BEFORE going into this OR you will struggle! You've been forewarned! GOOD LUCK!
Lectures do not correlate to exam, just the homeworks. He makes his tests harder than the homework and lectures. I self-taught myself everything, basically an online class with mandatory meetings. Arrogant and argues with his students over non-finance issues. He teches assuming you always know what he's talking about. Monotone voice. Avoid.
tests do not rrefleft the class. so hard. didnt know anything going on and it was only exam 2. avoid if you want a good teacher for finance!!
ABORT. save yourself while you still have time
Haddads class wasnt the easiest class and it takes a lot of work and effort but as long as you try your hardest and show effort you will be rewarded. If youre looking for an easy class this isnt it, but its not the end of the world.
haddad knows finance really well but is not good at teaching it. His lectures dont make sense for students that have little to no background knowledge in finance. I only went to lectures because there was an extra credit sign in sheet. you will not learn anything from lectures but if you go to A plus review for the exams you will get at least a B
Lecture material proved pretty inconsequential. The textbook and Mindtap are very helpful. I believe he does factor in effort, attendance, and time spent into overall grades. If you read and practice enough, no reason you cant get an A. Most importantly, he allows 2 full pages of notes for use during exams, one for equations, one for whatever.
He hires TA's as security guards to stop students from leaving the class, provides lectures less useful than peeling bananas to prepare for exams, reports students each semester, jumps into student group chats, and idk how but he's Head of the Finance Dept. Oh! And if you like getting F's on exams, please take this guy. It's going to be FUN
How to pass: Subscribe to Chegg (will help better understand the HW), do well on HW and quizzes, understand financial calculator, get A on first exam (this one was easy). Class was very tough and there is a LOT of work/hw. Be prepared to study DAILY. I took 6 week summer online with work, internship, 2 classes.. Got a B. Dreadful class overall
-Rude. -Unlike other professors, you won't be able to ask him questions prior to a test the day of he'll just tell you to go away. "Tough Luck." -Lectures are just confusing rambles with no benefit. The book taught me more. -Never responds to emails. -First test was simple, the second test was awful & he is notorious for how bad his second test is.
I just saw this comment by a student who said the professors does not answer questions before the test. Not sure what this guy is talking about. This professor goes out of his way to help students. He has all of his lectures online, he has videos where he solved all end of chapter problems. He comes to class at 7 AM everyday to answer questions.
This professor is very good and very smart and makes the materials very easy to understand. Those who complains do not attend class. I highly recommend him. Easy A if you do your work.
The people who hate on Haddad didn't get something they wanted. He's actually a super cool guy if you actually talk to him. I showed up to every class, did decent on the hw and quizzes, got a 71% on exam 1 and 80% on exam 2. And I will likely get a B in his class, but that's on me, not him. The material is hard, not Haddad. Don't get it twisted.
It's interesting how there are positive reviews on Haddad yet I have never found a single individual in person who enjoys his course. It's always the same response from many, you end up teaching yourself the material. The beginning of the semester started out fine, but it slowly turned into meaningless lectures that provided no assistance.
Prof. Haddad is one of the best and most dedicated professors at SDSU. I really don't understand why there are students writing bad reviews about him, he goes out of his way to help any student. I cannot see another professor teaching this class better than Prof. Haddad. I highly recommend all Finance students take at least one of his classes.
I took his 323,and this time I took his 423. I think he is an amazing professor!!! He not only teaches financial knowledge, but also teaches students life lessons. I admire him so much! Highly recommend this professor! Students who write bad reviews about him because they dont know him. Try to know more about your professor!!! He is wonderful!!!
Material is pretty challenging. His lecture videos are painfully boring, I stopped watching them after the 2nd exam which was the hardest of the three he gave. I read the book but still bought chegg answers for the first time ever for this class and it saved me. Originally had a C+ but it got curved to a B.
Prof. Haddad is such a nice Professor. He will actually help you when you need help and truly will care if you try your best. Its impossible to fail if you do all the hw and quizzes. His lectures used easy analogies to understand & were always online to rewatch. He even helped me when I was panicking in his office. Truly a very nice professor.
Really really hard professor! His lectures are not helpful whatsoever! He has a strong accent. Rude to students. Go to his office hours and just be cool with him. He is not that cool to speak to but he will respect you more.
He was a really tough professor. I ended up teaching myself everything at home because I didn't learn anything during lecture. The homework was really difficult and took a LONG time to complete. I received a B on the first test and F's on the last two tests. Do well on all the homework and quizzes. I pulled a B because it was curved at the end.
I have no idea why would SDSU first decided to hire such professor, who is the most irresponsible and ridiculous professor ever. He apparently does not understand how to talk with students, and his way of teaching was autarchic. No one in my class ever like him, please resign yourself if you have any consciousness left in you!
His class is not easy, especially when his lecture doesn't help at all, he can spend 30 mins to explain 1 year equal how many months, weeks, days, but no useful information from his lecture, be ready to study on your own.
One of the hardest classes I took at San Diego State University. I am not sure if I just did not understand the material or if it was because of Professor Haddad but the tests seemed way different from the homework. Lectures were hard to follow and sometimes irrelevant to the applied concepts. Lots of homework, fully online. I barely passed.
From the first day of class, you will be ready to face tons of homework, useless lectures, and very likely the darkest period of your life. There's lots of things this professor care about, such as his career and his fortune, but how students feel and learn is definitely off the list.
Extremely hard professor. The homework was difficult and his lectures in class are of no help. He has a heavy accent also. You will have to teach yourself the coursework, I used Chegg. I did NOT like him personally, he really doesn't like to help students, either doesn't care or really loves the saying "tough luck." Also never responds to emails.
I attended my first year BA323 with Haddad. You honestly have to study ALOT. I went to office hours many times. He is very knowledgeable and knows what he is talking about, he is also very caring about his students and wants everyone to learn. It was a difficult class but learned a lot from this course! This is the guy too go to !
This has hands down been the most challenging class I have taken but it was truly worth it. If you want an easy A, Haddad isn't for you. He will make you work for it, but he is someone who cares about you actually learning. If you mess up, he gives you chances to make up for it and learn. AND don't forget to choose your group WISELY!
Haddad is not a terrible teacher. BA323 is relatively challenging, and it being moved to completely online made it worse. Watching his lectures will bore you to death, but he's fair with his grading. Try to ace the hw and quizzes in the online txtbook, 40% of your grade depends on it. Use the textbook's tools instead of blackboard and you'll pass.
DO NOT TAKE. Horrible Karen professor
If you take Haddad/Badrinath be prepared for a dramatic semester. Go to A+ review, use Chegg and try to buy/get the website A+ created called, "Finzter" it's textbook specific and helps you get a perfect score. Take hw and quizzes seriously. GRADE BREAKDOWN HW 20% Quizzes 20% #1 Midterm 20% #2 20% #3 20%
He makes the materials and exams challenging because he cares about learning and wants his students to have a solid foundation of finance knowledge. Class is not easy, get ready to read and ask questions. First two exams were hard and got really low grade but I still pass the class in the end.
I got a 25% on the second test and I am a A/B student. This class is horrible. avoid it
terrible class, will report entire class for cheating. dont take
Most people don't like him in BA323 because he makes you work hard and gives somewhat challenging exams. In FIN423, he is a real gem, especially to seniors who are about to go into the real world. He gives the cases as it is, exactly similar to the real world situation. You have to learn and teach yourself, but it was all worth it in the end.
Honestly, the class is not that bad! The homework is heavy, quizzes are literally from the book and tests are literally from the quizzes. No cumulative test! Its a fair class and you get to use a cheat sheet. He holds optional office hours and has a TA that offers tutoring. Three tests that arent that bad, but you have to study!
I had to take this class for major credit and I'm stuck having to retake it. He doesn't teach other than boring recorded lectures that are confusing and don't give a good grasp of concepts. He doesn't give a study guide and tells you to use Mindtap to study for exams, no help from him. Mindtap heavy, 40% of your grade and you have to google a ton.
A nice guy but sometimes feels a bit rude, only will give help at the meeting time. There is no mention of curving and extra in the syllabus but seems that gives everyone extra points in the final score, my friend tells me that he moved to a higher level.(But he will suspect that high scorers are cheating
Stay away from this professor. The littlest things you do during the exam like, stay on a question a little longer, look at your notes for more than couple seconds, use your calculator for more than couple seconds he'll give you an F and sends your CSRR and ruins your future. he did that to more 30 than students a class 80.
What a bad class. I cant imagine why people give good grades. He gives you cases and sends you off assuming you know every concept. Once you give a 45 min presentation the next hour is about tearing down all you did wrong. DO NOT TAKE. I have a 3.8 GPA in finance classes and struggle in this class. Professor is horrible.
GO TO APLUS REVIEW. GO TO APLUS REVIEW. They will teach you everything you need to know and more for this class. I got an A solely from APLUS because other than that you will not pass this class. Watching lectures does not help AT ALL. Everything is based off mind tap quizzes and homework assignments. All the tests are taken with lockdown browser.
I won't lie, this class was tough. There is a lot of bad reviews for this professor and I understand why, but finance is difficult. Granted, there could have been more help from his end for exams, but in reality, it is on you. Get ready to work in this class - it is tough. But it is surely doable with effort and dilligence. Stay on top of things.
I cannot stress enough how terrible this class is. Literally take anyone else I am begging you. There was absolutely no direction in this class for tests, which are a significant part of your grade. When you email him, he is rude and gives one word responses. I am an A/B student with a 3.5 GPA and I'm stuck having to retake this class... STAY AWAY!
Don't take him if you have the option, his lectures are hard to understand, he's not helpful, test are nothing like what we learn and practice. Just horrible semester I learned nothing despite trying and I love finance. Not understanding, I had done all the work for an assignment and it did not save, he refused to take it 1min late
Lectures and practice are nothing like the test, the TA are not helpful, neither is him, despite trying I did not enjoy taking his class.
Dont bother watching his lectures waste of time. I read the textbook and taught myself finance for the entire semester and got a B+. Professors like Haddad need to be fired, hes having students teach themselves while he gets paid for doing nothing.
You must be prepared to relearn many concepts from previous courses, especially if you passed because of A+ as was my case. Offers the opportunity to do rewrites for all cases. Haddad seems intimidating but he is really helpful if you approach him. Hardest but most rewarding course of the finance major. Expect 25+ hours of work per case solution.
I have not once ever struggled so much with a class. The professor does not teach the class, instead your are entirely relying on what you read on the text book. It takes DAYS to complete his homework and even longer to fully understand what you are doing, then when exam time comes, the exams are quite literally nothing like the homework + quizzes.
One of the worst professors at sdsu. Does not go into depth on how to do the problems or concepts, instead had two prerecorded lectures that takes a few example questions from the book. Does not reply to emails, and has no structure for his tests. There is a reason why he has so many 1 star reviews. Do not take this class. He does not even teach.
This is probably the best BA 323 Professor, he gives a lot of curves. Tries to help everyone pass. Very hard class in general with any Professor. Good luck I think this is your best option.
This prof lowk did nothing for the class except post lectures that were irrelevant to the topics. The instructor assistant Renee Merrill did more help than he did. Class itself is hard especially during summer. Exams are on lockdown browser w/ camera and mic. Lots of reading, hw, and quizzes per chapter(11). Must pay for financial calculator $40.
Tough course, but putting in the effort pays off. Utilize unstuck study and the free textbook to supplement the lectures. With diligence, you can manage the workload and get a good grade.
This professor is awful, MUST attend A+ review to even have a chance at passing. Hw and quizzes are not anything like the tests, and he does not care about his students, he frequently cancels office hours and doesn't reply to emails. Had to talk to my therapist about how much this class stressed me out. DO NOT TAKE!!
I had a steady A in the class all semester. Up until the end, he found dishonesty in other sections, but punished every section by dropping the first 2 exam scores and making the last exam 60% of our grade. He handled the situation very poorly and made the course much harder than it should've been. He does not respond to emails.
I had a high and stable grade all semester, suddenly 2 weeks before the fall semester comes - he punished our entire section of the class for a couple of cheaters. Instead of compromising those students and giving them a 0, he decides not to use the 2 other exams and makes the final exam worth 60% of the grade WITHOUT a cheat sheet w/ hard math.
Professor Haddad is the laziest professor I have had at SDSU. Avoid him at all costs. Had an A- after the first two exams, but he decides to drop both and make the final worth 60% of our grade. (With no cheat sheet). Guy is unreal. Lectures and homework don't align with exams. You will have better luck with any other professor.
Lectures could be more explanatory, handwriting is hard to read
Do not take this professor, especially for an online class. He is crazy about the rules with exam procedure and will investigate or even report you for academic dishonesty if a rule is broken. Lectures do not really make sense, you can learn better yourself by readig the textbook.
