I do not like history or government classes at all, but Dr. Brown is a FANTASTIC professor! He ties all of his lectures into current events and keeps his lectures very interesting. He has really sparked my interest in politics. He assigned two essays this semester and then the Midterm and Final. I would take this class again if I could!

Prof. Brown is an awesome government teacher! Not one time did he ever show bias or his own political views. He made the classroom a very comfortable place to discuss and debate political and social events. If you take good notes the class will be easy. He also gives sample test Qs along with the answer & it makes studying each lecture much easier!

I hadn't expected such a cool professor! I have had other professors at TCC who were hard to learn from and hard to get out of bed to go to class each day. Professor Brown is the opposite of that! I'd take him again! He's an example of what professors should be like! This guy's really an awesome teacher. He's helpful and honest! Just do your part.

Dr. Knox is a very intelligent and personable teacher. This was my first class for my first semester at TCC. I was dreading government before the semester started, this was my favorite class towards the end of the semester and I am definitely going to miss him being my teacher.

Dr. Brown is amazing at teaching American Federal Government. I recommend him to anyone that still has yet to take this course. One thing I really enjoy about him is he does not judge people by their political views, nor does he express his personal political views to the class. Mr Brown was a great teacher he does do great lectures in class and the only assignments are basic papers and midterms finals so most of your grade is attendance. He really works hard to help u pass so if you put in the work you will make it.

I did not expect this class to be fun. I took him for honors, and it was one of the best classes I took in TCC. I loved how involved this class was. His exam grades are more than half of the grade, but he gives out example questions throughout the semester. So if you study, you should be fine. I would recommend him! I learned a lot from his class.

Dr. Brown was an amazing professor. His lectures are extremely interesting and he is very passionate about politics; however, he doesn't voice his political opinion. 6 grades: Attendance, Short Essay (2-3 pages), Midterm, Long Essay (5-7 pages), Group Presentations and Final. Show up, ask questions, and do the extra credits!

Dr. Brown is passionate and well educated on American Federal Government. His teaching style brings the past into the current election situations. He uses many different techniques and does everything he can to make sure you pass the test. You are only graded on about 6 things, so make sure you do each one.

Dr. Brown was outstanding and made you interested in his lectures. He talked about the history of government up to the recent 2016 presidential election, and a bit about the upcoming 2020 election. Pretty sure next semester it will involve more of the 2020 election so get ready. Participation matters, so ensure you do your readings thoroughly!

Dr. Brown was an excellent teacher. He made class fun and interesting and explained the text in a way that was easy to understand. make sure not to miss an assignment, as there aren't too many that are for a grade. He's extremely respectful of all political ideologies. I honestly wish i could take this class again! He is sweet and willing to help!

Dr. Brown is one of the best teachers I have ever had! I took his summer course and he very interactive and approachable in and out of the classroom. He went over a lot of events in depth and was clear on all aspects of government, even linking events happening at the time (like the democratic events) to the laws and documents we were discussing.

If you miss a exam, drop the class. He says that. He is very funny and hes definitely one of my favorites.

I really enjoyed his class and it made me get more involved in politics. His exams are fairly hard, just make sure to take notes from every lecture! You have to write 3 essays during the whole semester, but they are an easy A. I love his lectures and he makes your participate in class. There is one group project and three-four class debates.

Hes really funny and will sometimes get loud for no reason which is also funny!! He is a nice man and is really helpful. He will help you if you are struggling in class and improve your notes. He has three essays and a presentation. The presentation is a group project that requires participation. It was a great class!!!!

Dr. Brown is absolutely amazing! I usually try to avoid anything involving politics so I was not excited about taking this course. However, Dr. Brown made this class fun, interesting and current. I wish every prof was like him... just make sure you pay attention and take notes and you will do just fine!

Probably one of the best professors I've had. The lectures were enlightening, and he kept class interesting and well-organized. It's rare that a political science professor can lead a class discussion on politics, remain neutral, and maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone involved. The classwork was difficult but I learned more about politics, our political processes, and most importantly how to think critically about my own views while listening to others.

Professor Knox understands about the students' interests in politics. He does not judge his students. Mr. Knox takes his class in creative way, so that his students can learn easily and have interest about American Federal Government. Professor Knox Brown is a very good human being. Take his class, you will definitely love his class.

Professor Brown is a great professor. I enjoyed his class. The only homework is readings he assigned to read before each class. There are 2 tests, the midterm and the final, 1 short essay, and either a project or 5 page essay. He also provides extra credit opportunities. Doctor Brown was an amazing professor because I can proudly say that I learned in his class. Get ready to read the readings and discuss them in class. He does have study sessions before the midterm and final exam for those interested! He occasionally gives extra credit so make sure to do them. He also responds to emails quickly and is patient!

Professor Knox is a GREAT professor as long as you stay focused and read the articles provided. During the time of the pandemic, there are only finals and they are worth a lot. Prof. Knox also does not give study guides so if you count on that during tests. Stop counting. TAKE ALL THE NOTES YOU CAN! It will help you in the long run.

This professor is a good choice, but make sure to take good notes in class at the beginning of each semester because that is you midterm and final study guide.

If I had to choose a favorite professor, it would be Professor Brown. There aren't many assignments, so showing up for class is imperative to pass the midterm/final. I started college at 50 something years young, and I was scared to death but this professor really helped! My older daughter had taken his class and highly recommend him and I am glad she did. I lost my mother and had an illness during this time and I still passed! Professor Brown is great and he gives extra credit which is great!

I was scared of Professor Brown's class at first but now, I LOVE IT!! There are very few grades per semester (attendance, two papers, and two exams). Make sure you read before class. You could that Professor Brown was very passionate about his teachings, his lectures or full of information and easy to comprehend. (take notes or hope ur classmates make quizlets) I learned so much without even realizing. Hes a great guy and an even better professor. just pay attention in class (and go) and you will pass.

There are about two readings a week and the lecture is discussion-heavy. Two essays, two exams, and attendance. Take notes and participate in the discussion, you'll learn a lot and get a good grade. A lot of reviews said there is no study guide but he has a review session online before each exam and that is basically the study guide.

Professor Brown's lectures were the best part of class. There aren't many assignments (2 papers, midterm, and final) but as long as you know the material you'll pass. Make sure to take notes and write as much as you can. All the answers for the exams are in your notes. No study guide needed, he basically tells you whats on the exam the day before.

Professor Brown's class isn't that hard if you pay attention in class. Everything you need for the test can be found in the lectures. If you simply pay attention and work hard, you will get an A. There are also a few smaller extra credit opportunities throughout the semester, I would recommend taking advantage of those.

I took Dr. Brown's online 8-week course. He truly cares about you and will have study sessions via zoom if you need it. There are quizzes due every week and a discussion every two weeks. Essays and chapter tests are also due every two weeks. Use Quizlet to study, there is a lot of study materials out there for his tests ;)

Many chances for extra credit. Engages with the class which helps SO MUCH. He repeats points often in case you miss them the first time. In lectures he usually has a fun little video break. I'm not afraid to speak up in his class because he is always welcoming. Little homework. Values students of any background. 10/10

Professor Brown is amazing, as long as you do the work you'll get an A. Tests are proctored but you have access to the essay questions and multiple-choice before the test. The work load is lite, roughly 1-2 hours per week I would say.

He gives you one exam question during each class, you take notes & write the dates and during midterm or finals all your notes will be your answers that you will be tested on. Other than that 2 essays and just showing up is what your graded on. The only homework is just reading.

Hes very professional and he is very nice. Just dont talk over him and chit chat. He does care about his students tho. I love the way he teaches and I learned a lot. I would take his in person class because its way better than the online. Online sounds harder but 10/10 would take his class all over again. Hes amazing!

Dr. Brown is a great professor. This class is 95% lectures. There are readings that have to be done before almost every class, but they tend to be fairly short and easy to read. He loves to have guest speakers and we even took one field trip. You are only graded on attendance, exams, and two papers, so you need to do well and show up.

Easy. Online 16-week course. 10-question quizzes, many appear on the exams. Exams are weighted heavily (120 pts), but pointers about the short-response questions are given. Engaging discussion topics and papers (50-80 pts) have simple instructions. The review questions in the online text help. Don't cram your reading and you'll be fine :)

Professor Brown is by far the best professor I've ever had! He is willing to work with you if you need the help and genuinely wants his students to succeed. He does expect you to work, his is not a class you can pass by giving half-hearted effort, but with diligent effort you can easily pass this class.

This class required quite a bit of work. You were required to complete a weekly quiz plus some soft of extra assignment such as an essay or discussion post each unit. That being said, he seems to be a pretty relaxedgrader. The exam questions are a pool of questions used on the homework assignments and a few essay questions he sends out in an email.

Just do yourself a favor and take his class. As for the review for those who want an actual review, his lectures are engaging. He has no study guides, but he is so good at his job that no study guide is needed. He's easy to follow. In the political community, he is well respected. He will teach you a ton. I HIGHLY recommend taking his class.

Dr. Brown is an amazing professor! Deeply respected and truly knowledgeable in his subject. We only had five grades: attendance, short essay, midterm, long essay, and the final. Make sure you attend class and read the material because he will spontaneously call on you to answer some questions. Dr. Brown also provides extra credit opportunities.

I took this class over the summer (8 week online course) and it was simply giving. Super easy. Assignments consist of discussions, quizzes, papers, and tests. Test questions = come from quizzes. Easy grader. Basically, participate, try your best, and you'll get an A inevitably. Very kind over email and understanding. If you need GOV, take Dr. Brown

Professor Brown well educated and knows politics very well. Graded on 2 papers. Mid-term, final and attendance. Get ready to ready what he post on blackboard bc he will call on you to give him the answer. Study hard no extra credit only on the test 2 question only.

I took him for Government in person and he was amazing! He is there to help you with anything. He does call on you but won't get mad if you don't know the answer. Making your own study guide will help a lot! But his big tests are pretty easy and not hard at all. He also has extra credit on his tests. He is super nice and respectful.

Only Two Essays and Two tests for the whole semester for a grade. He has you read a lot of documents but they are not graded, just discussed in class. His lectures are amazing and does a great job involving the whole class in the discussions. I highly recommend this professor because his lectures are very interesting and prepares you well to pass.

Great teacher, no study guides before tests but you don't need any. Keeps you active in lectures so you will learn a lot. Attendance is important; no HW, only tests and essays as grades.

Dr. Brown is about the best professor you can have. There was a lot of reading, but the questions for the exams were directly from the text. He grades fairly, you know what to expect. Opportunities for extra credit. He understands work life balance. A+++ for Knox Brown.

Professor brown was a great professor he was understanding and always explain things well you had to stay on top of the work because it was eight-week class so I don't know what anybody has negative to say about him if you didn't stay on top of it that's your own fault, I would definitely take him again I learned a lot

Prof Brown only had 2 papers (short&long), midterm, final,&a group project, that's it. He requires a book &talks heavily about it, but I never read it and passed with an A. Just do the work, and you will pass with a high grade. Theres1 flaw, though, he will NOT give out 100s ever. Highest you can receive is a 99 which messes with the grade slightly

Only two tests, midterm and final. Offered extra credit opportunities and a zoom review for both exams. Required two essays (1 short 1 long). Lectures are entertaining and unbiased, calls on you randomly though so be prepared. Doesn't upload slides, so highly recommend taking notes. Attendance is definitely mandatory! Overall good teacher & class.

Took his online class so I never met him in person but through email and assignment explanations he seemed great and you can tell this is something he loves doing. The layout of the class is simple because he repeats the sequence with each unit (quiz, discussion, essay, test) and if you simply do the work and apply your best effort, you'll pass.

I took this class just to get my credit but I ended up loving it so much. I came into this class knowing nothing about American government. Thankfully to Professor Brown giving amazing and understanding lectures. now I understand and get why people take politics seriously. I would 100% recommend taking his class.

I struggle when it comes to learning Government because I don't care about politics. But Professor Brown keeps me intrigued and I am finally doing well in government. I recommend Professor Brown to anyone who needs a history credit.

My first introduction to college was with Dr. Brown, He is hands down the best teacher I've ever had. He is very understanding and his lectures will keep you engaged. Another thing is Dr. Brown is very nonpartisan in his lectures which is refreshing. He is the goat!

We were graded by five things in this class but do not let that scare you. If you follow the instructions and try you will do fine. Do not miss lectures, you will miss test questions. Best class to learn about politics. Attendance is mandatory and classes are very engaging. Graded from mid term exam, final exam, short essay, long essay and group project. There review for the exams & he shares samples questions every lecture. This class is a definite A. No need to stress about grades. Professor is the best absolutely no regrets.

This professor only took 5 grades: paper 1, midterm, paper 2, group project, and final. I thought that would make things hard, but on the contrary, Dr. Brown's amazing lectures + knowing how to take notes ensured an A+. We looked at things from all side with discussions that involved everyone. Without a doubt, take Dr. Brown's class. So glad I did!

Professor Brown was AWESOME. I learned so much from him during his 16 week course. We did 2 papers (which were both super easy), 2 mid terms, and a group project. If you show up and take notes this class will be very easy for you. He lets you know exactly what u need to take notes over. His lectures are awesome. He said his online course is harder

I took his 8-week online course and thought it was an easy A. There are 4 exams (proctored), 4 papers, 4 discussion questions, and 15 chapter tests (open book). He answers questions in a timely manner. I recommend taking his class.

Best professor for Government. He is very lecture and test heavy, and he WILL call on you in class, but I actually learned so much, and there was NO HOMEWORK!!! I wish all of my classes could be formatted this way! He was awesome. Respect him, and you will be respected back.

Most professional and considerate professor at TCC in my 2 years here. Attendance is a grade and it helps tremendously. 2 papers and a group project, plus 2 exams. Exams are 30% each, but if you put in the minimal effort of being present at lecture, and write down what's on the board, you will have everything you need to know for the test. Loved it

Professor was very caring. Be prepared to take a lot of notes they will be used towards your 2 exams and the reading papers he sends out to go over. Overall very easy had 2 exams, one group project, and 2 essays (very easy). Attendance matter. Pay attention no study guide for exams only your notes.

Prof. B was the goat. The subject of government is enough to turn others away, but not when he is teaching it. I despise politics, but he actually got me really into it. His class is ran very smoothly, enough pictures and videos to not bore you, and he is actually caring and funny. He does call on people at random so watch out for that. 10/10 class

I will be honest: This is the class I was the least excited about, but it was not as bad as I thought it would be. He is easy when it comes to grading. There were more papers than I expected. The only thing I did not like was the open-ended questions at the end of the exams. I wish those had just been other assignments not included in the exams.

I took the 8 week online course and while the workload was more than I expected, he is a very easy grader. Every week there was 2-3 open note, open book quizzes due. PROCTORED tests every other week that had 45 multiple choice questions and 3 short paragraph answer questions. On test weeks there was a paper due instead of a discussion post.

I took his class in summer of 2023, but I have to come here and say Professor Brown is genuinely one of the best professors I have ever met. I have always admired him and I can tell he is super passionate about the topics he teaches. He reached out to me even after I graduated tcc, and that tells me he cares about the success of his students.

Easily the most engaging and informative class I have taken not just in College but of all my schooling thus far. Dr. Brown is passionate in his lectures, light hearted in his humor, and gives thought provoking and relevant assignments. I would support a constitutional amendment mandating that everyone takes his class before being eligible to vote.

Bottom line, this guy rules. Class is pretty easy, lot's of visitors come to class, papers and exams are straightforward. Take Dr. Brown if you want to make an A and actually learn something.

I enjoyed this class. If you pay attention and take notes you will do well on the exams. The midterm and final are BIG portion of your grade but it basically just goes over the notes. You'll only have 6 grades: attendance, short essay, midterm, long essay, group project, and final. Everything totals up to 1,000 THAT'S ALL. No textbook assignments. No homework. Nothing. The only homework you'd have is studying for exams or procrastinating in essays/projects. All the exam answers are within the lecture, very easy.

i took an 8-week course there was only 4 essay and make sure you do all 3 quizzes they are usually on some of the same questions on the exam he does give out extra credit

I was not looking forward to this class but it ended up being one of my favorites. You can work at your own pace and there was an opportunity for extra credit. You can easily pass your tests if you do your quizzes.

As someone who isn't into federal government at all. Dr Brown made the subject entertaining by interacting and staying engaged with the class. He has a very little amount of assignments meaning the tests are high stakes. His lectures had purpose and weren't just rambling. I truly didn't think I'd enjoy this course but luckily I was proven wrong.

I took his summer class and the lectures were not so long, class would end early. He lectures over everything that will be on the test and he likes class discussion. He likes to engage with students so he will call on somebody often. His assignments and tests are not hard and very explanatory. Overall, great class.

I failed almost every test (the tests are not multiple-choice questions; most questions require written responses and critical thinking), yet I still passed the class with a B. Tests don't hold much weight compared to the writing assignments/homework. He is a good teacher and doesn't grade heavy. Extra credit was offered at least once.

Dr. Brown is amazing, I cannot stress enough that he is the one you want for any and all gov or political classes. He uses simple slides and lectures off of them, he does one or two assignments, a midterm, group project and final exam. He is passionate, incredibly nonpartisan and makes the course material fun and up to date. Grades easy.
