Feig is by far the best teacher I have had the pleasure of knowing. her teaching style may seem abnormal but it gets you where you need to be to truly grasp what it is that she is teaching.

Online class- After reading the other reviews I wish I'd had the pleasure of taking this course in person. I learned a lot from this class. It's a different format from other online classes, but very interesting.

Brilliant. Knows more about world than anyone. Cares so much about students it must be painful for her. Nothing she won't do for a student. Learned how to be an analyst and thinker. Its all about thinking. And she is funny. Remarkable class.

The woman has an unrealistic reading schedule and teaches this class as a seminar which means you do the teaching while she does nothing. Also likes to railroad non-honors students out of her class. Half the class dropped first day.

Dr. Feig is a remarkable woman. She wants her students to THINK (her emphasis), not recite a million facts. She teaches history not just as events in time, but as an unfolding awareness of people and humanity--with a fascinating story told along the way.

Online class. Do not fall behind! I did. I got As on the first two assignments & didn't do the last one, so ended with a B in the class. My fault. :( The best prof! Great class! Learned SO much! Very difficult writing assignments, but worth it.

Sorry, but not the best teacher. Would rather gab about her life back home and get nothing done in class and expect you to just learn everything for the tests on your own from the book. Sounds like students either love her or hate her.

There is no free thought in this class, you have to change your way of thinking to match hers or you will get a bad grade. The first thing she will tell you is that she is the foremost authority on the Holocaust and that she has seven degrees.

cool teacher...its true she does tend to go off on rants about how great she is and her dogs, she'll steal ur gum and love u forever so if ur ever chweing gum make sure u ahve the pack with you... you'll get an A in her class for that. =0 her tests are easy if ur good at making things up.

Pretty terrible teacher, i had her for history of western civ.although it seemed like 90% of the time she was going off on rants about how great such and such a sport team is and talking about football. she'd also never shut up about her damn mini schnauzers!

She is an incredibly experienced historian, but the effects of being in the midst of the Eastern European civil wars seem to be setting in. At times she almost seems schizophrenic. Easy class, though.

Goes off on stupid tangents WAY TOO OFTEN. Does not seem to realize that class time should be spent talking more about history than stupid football games or what movies are good. Also seems to be a bit disorganized and skips class far too often (more than any other FH prof I've had).

Hilarious teacher. If you want to have a fun free class, take Feig. Plus, if you are an athlete, you are almost guaranteed to pass. Whatever you do, don't yawn.

If you turn in all of your assigments, you will pass. If you are an athlete, it is even easier. Tell her about new movies, and sports. She likes people who participate.

Professor Feig is amazing. She is always willing to help out her students and she is very sympathetic to individual issues. She works hard and constantly gives of herself. Even if you don't like history, her classes are interesting. She's a brilliant historian and an amazing person.

She rules. What a brilliant lady. We are fortunate to have her at Foothill College. I feel so much smarter after taking her class. She's a rare gem to be valued highly. I think she's Gods gift to Foothill College. If you're not willing to work hard and learn a lot, avoid her class. Be smart!

if you can get sucked into your essays, then i think she really appreciates that. by far the best damn teacher every in my years at public school from K-college. If you get bored in this class, then you'll get bored in all classes. Alos, be sure to cover you mouth when you yawn.got A in all essays.

Simply the most inspiring woman Ive ever met. She is brilliant and humble and most importantly, compassionate. This woman cares so much for all her students. As a professor, she does not look for right and wrong, she wants students to think. She is so progressive and open. She is quite a character.

Read the book and go over the websites. Pay attention. Follow directions while doing your essays and you will get an A unless you write like a moron. This is the reason why I love online classes. I'm looking forward to 4C OL.

Wanna know why there's so many ratings here? Because she tells her students to go in here and give her good ratings. She's extremely knowledgable but you never get to see that side to her. You cannot defer to your own opinion in her classes, you will get a D/F. VERY inconsistent. VERY rude.

Class is extremely boring, she rambles on and on and goes on wild tangents sometimes about her dogs or her drive to school. Encourages students to think, but really just wants them to agree with her line of thinking. if you agree with her you get a good grade, if you disagree you do badly

The best professor at Foothill and the best teacher I've ever had. A true gem. Amazing credentials. Crazy in a good way. Incredibly knowledgable. If you like history as I do, the class is an easy A. Three tests (essay, in class essay, take home multiple choice). No experience at Foothill is complete without taking a class from Dr. Feig.

I liked the course because her teaching style and methods weren't of the expected. She really gets enthusiastic and wants her students to think critically and enrich their minds with history. The fact that they were multiple essay portions for the course was a plus for me because I detest multiple choice questions.

Great course and Dr. Fieg has an amazing wealth of knowledge that everyone should get the chance to be privy to. I took her class online, which was unfortunate becuase I lacked much time with Feig, but I still felt I got a lot out of the class. She encourages additional reading on the material and personal insight; great professor, great class!

i took her probably 4-5 years ago, and had a blast. if you can take general notes and write a decent sentence, you will do fine. i got extra credit on everything because i made sure to "quote" her lectures in my papers. and shes absolutely nuts, but it made early class interesting. shes great. take her class.

Probably the best teacher I have ever had. If not the best then at least top 3. (And that is out of all my teachers during 13 years of school.) Sarcastic, funny, doesent make you memorize dates and such, she just asks for your view of things. I wrote my take-home-midterm 1 week ago and got my grade back today: A+ with "You are exeptional, thank you for a good read David." And all I did was to write what I thought of things. I love this! :) (Her classes online are just as good.)

By far the best teacher I have ever had in my life. One of the only times where I absolutely wanted to go to class and when I wasn't in class I wanted to be. I learned more from Dr. Feig in 2 years than I did in 12 years of elementary and high school. She is also a very caring person and deeply cares about her students. She also enjoys teaching and that shows through in everyone of her classes. I should know because I have taken every history course that she teaches.

ITs easy, hist 4c you grade yourself, ummm lets see I think I'll give myself an A. She like to hear herself talk, she cares about students for the most part. She's definately crazy i.e. on meds. So do not be shocked if she sundenly walks storms out of class, or such. Interesting person! Not sure I would recomend her, shes easy that for sure.

She is an excellent teacher. she really cares about her students and "refuses to allow us to fail" Really, she's very sweet and one of those teachers that still tries her best to teach. Her classes are always interesting and if you pay attention in class you'll do fine. She's very encouraging and easy to talk to after class, but dont be rude!

A wonderful person, but lacking as a teacher. No availability/office hours at all. Does not follow her own grading scale, or even a standard one, leading to frequent grade uncertainity. For example, syllabus says 90% = A, but you actually get a B at 91%. Not able to use efficient/minimum effort tatics to get an A.

I really enjoyed taking her class. Her passion of history makes you want to know more. Her teaching style is completely different, but entertaining. A lot of essays, but the topics are relatively easy. Very helpful, always asking what she can do for you.

Seems like a nice person but she has issues with her grading system. Most teachers like to use numerical values to allow grades to be determined empirically. Her system uses letter grades that actually only represent a range of values not a specific grade. I hope she will eventually understand how erratic and disfunctional her grading system is.

Had for hist 4a. Interesting lecturer, lots of enthusiasm for history. Be very careful that you are not rude with her, and that you follow instructions. Take-home exams are time-consuming but reasonable. Her assignments are quite different from any other history teacher I've had. Occasionally presented her political opinions about current issues.

Dr. Feig was a spaz. Very short temper and short attention span. She frequently referred to us as "stupid," "out of it," etc. She was very degrading and hurt many students feeling by making fun of them and the sincere questions she asked. It is an easy 'A' class but not worth her obnoxiousness.

Dr.Feig is honestly a great teacher. She is inspiring, her class is so interesting. Some people say shes hard but shes not you just have to think alot about the material. She makes history interesting because you learn it as a story, not as a text reading. I HIGHLY reccomend her!

Well-known as a crank, she is erratic and prone to outbursts. One of the worst instructors I've ever had. Puts no effort into her work. Her methods favor people who just want to pass with minimal effort. If she ever cared about teaching, she gave it up long ago. The dark side of community college.

A passionate teacher with unusual methods, a weath of knowledge and laid back teaching styles. Homework is minimal, but you should know your stuff. She is an expert in her field although she often goes on tangents so you might not realize it right away. If you are interested in learning: she will like you, you will learn and likely enjoy it

I took Feig's 4C online, and it was great. Most history teachers who will make you memorize dates, names and what not. However she was more interested in students exploring on their own. The grading was simply 3 essays, no quiz's, no tests. Since the evidence for the essays can come from online, you don't even have to read the book.

I love the class. I didn't learn from her but from your classmates. Dr. Feig overwhelms students with unclear instructions. Prepare to agree with her in class or present excellent argument. If you can do neither, be a class clown and constantly pour out a-little-off-topic issues to confuse her. Then she will give you a high participation grade.

This class is extremely easy. There are 3 exams and one book report type assignment. The exams are an athome essay, an inclass essay and a multiple choice section. Just try to think, pay attention in class. Dr. Feig is a piece of work though, she goes off on little tangents all the time, its very annoying. She loves football. DONT YAWN! agree w/her

The best and most skilled professor I've had at Foothill. Has an extremely high and diversified knowledge in her fields, very experienced. If you have any interest in learning from an outstanding history professor, this is the right teacher for you! If you are thinking, you'll receive a good-great grade, without having to actually work too much.

I took an online class with Feig. The mid-term papers needed to be long(10pgs)or more and there were four of them. The grading is very fair though. Not recommended for anyone that doesn't like to write long papers.

What an outstanding teacher! She is extremely knowledgeable in her field, so if you are interested in learning from a real expert, take her class. Be warned that she is a real nut-case. But she is extremely nice and cares a lot about her students and their success. Highly interesting lectures, yet easy on the workload. Excellent class and teacher!

Amazing teacher! I can understand why some find her bewildering, since the class I am taking with her this quarter got off to a slightly hectic start, but she is really brilliant and tries her best to help you as much as possible. Best tactic is just to try your best and pay attention to get the most you can from her lecture. Strongly recommended!

This teacher is totally spaced out. She doesnt remember what her own instructions are and confuses the hell out of the students. She is not very professional in her emails, implying yelling at a student when it was her own confusion and fault. The web book is strange and takes time to navigate. She is also very rude.

Honestly, weird class at first. Instructor didn't use Etudes at all. She did have a webbook (interesting). Uses email a lot. Requires no less than 24 p. of SS writing to turn in. Requires long book report. I recomend Feig's book "Hitler's Death Camps...." long book- easy reading- informational. Three essay tests and one book report = 24 pages!

This was my first honors class, but not my first class with Dr Feig. The seminar format that she uses is excellent and there is a wonderful sense of community in the class and great opportunities to become really involved with the subject and work with your peers. I really enjoyed this class and learned a lot - Dr Feig is an excellent professor.

Dr. Feig is a wonderful and useful instructor. However, you need to do a lot of writing and video watching(if u take the lecture class). I strongly recommanded this instructor to anyone. Just don't rush your essay before the due date and you will be fine.

Dr. Feig is the kind of teacher who will change your life--if you care enough to show up, do the work, and participate. Participation is key in all of her courses, as is the reading. If you don't do the reading and don't participate, don't whine about your grade. Her grading system is more than fair, and the expectations of the students are clear.

This class appeared to be a lot of work, a lot of time, and a lot of investment. It was, but it is VERY WORTHWHILE. She can definitely be harsh, but she is also one of the most understanding professors that I've had a class with. DEFINITELY TAKE HER CLASSES, just be ready to work for your grade.

I can understand why some people dislike her and others love her, stay on her good side and you'll be golden, however if you are lazy/stupid/highly oppositional don't waste your time because you WILL be singled out. I really like her as a professor, you WILL get an A if you follow her directions, use your head, and write competently.

Dr. Feig is an amazing teacher! She occasionally goes on a tangent, but she is an incredibly intelligent woman. It is really about the students in the class since the class is based mostly on presentations and class discussions. I would highly recommend taking any class with Dr. Feig - especially an honors seminar!

You won't find a teacher who cares more about her students. The honors seminars are fun but if you don't put in any effort you won't learn anything. Basically you get out of the class what you put into it. One of the best teachers at Foothill.

I had Dr. Feig for all three quarters of Western Civ and found her class to be interesting and well-taught. She is easy to communicate with and great to work with.

She has an odd, wishy-washy way of dealing with students, doesn't seem to have it all-together. Seems to do best with very young students (like from the high school program) who haven't really learned to think for themselves yet or present much of an intellectual challenge.

Move over Eddie Murphy, there's a new Nutty Professor in town. I've never had such a spazzy lecture class. As an "older" student, I couldn't stand being treated like I was 7. That being said, you must be 7 years old if you're unable to get a good grade in her class.

With her, the "thinking" is important. Very helpful, but students really have to take the initiative to do things. After all, she expects her students to be individuals with motivation and interest on the subject. Contrary to previous comments, she is open to other bibliographies and research, and very much likes hearing her students' opinion.

One of the most brilliant professors ever! My peers have taken her several times because they are challenged with her, and she is definitely supportive of students who are achievers. Totally awesome professor and person!!! I'd like to be in her class again!

Most obnoxiously rude teacher I have come across. I signed up for her class, but then dropped it bc I had a family emergency. Then a few weeks into the qtr she sends me this email saying I need to stop slacking and she has no time for someone like me. Excuse me? I think she needs get her facts right, update her roster and learn a few manners.

I never liked history until this class! Dr. Feig is a passionate professor who truly cares about her students. If you just use your head (think), follow directions (no yawning!), and attend class regularly, it is hard to get less than an A or a B.

I took this class online and so I never saw her so I'm not sure if she's hot or not....Also I don't know the ISBN number. If you take her class online, you'll be asked to lots of reading....Her class doesn't use Etudes so beware of a transition. It may be hard at first. But try hard and really use imagination/passed history class references to soar

There is a lot of writing. However, the class is fairly easy if you keep up with the material. My only complaint is that her online book is frustrating to say the least, yet if you have a fair knowledge of history , it's not so much a problem. Take her on campus class if you are unsure.

An OK class but I would not recommend taking the class online. The "Web Book" is terrible filled with broken links, typos, and is very disorganized. It's as if she didn't feel like taking the time to actually write decent lectures and instead just copy/pasted links with other people's work. Not a real hard grader, but also not a very good class.

Dr. Feig enjoys history but not as much as embarrassing her students and going off on erratic tangents during her "lectures." Her class was nothing more than a plug for her book, a self righteous rant, and mockery. She may have spent a too much time studying Hitler.

I honestly spent about 4 hours per essay(including reading/researching) and got A+ on both of them, I don't know if she just grades easy or I'm showing that I'm "thinking" more than just trying to get the grammar right. However, it appears she's trying to connect with students on a personal level and I enjoyed the class

Dr. Feig should NOT be allowed to teach any online classes. She doesn't have any concept of how websites should be laid out or maintained. If she is allowed to teach online, she should be forced to use ETUDES since her personal site is the most disorganized mess I've ever seen. I would complain to the dean, but she IS the dean.

This course was a lot of work but easy to understand (by the way I took it in summer) so it was accelerated. Do the work and follow her exact directions, you will get an A!

Her website is super disorganized and everything is just all over the place. It seems like she takes a lot of pride in her work...but I really wish she would take the extra 10 minutes to fix broken links and use the same freaking font size and color. I got annoyed on so many occasions because things were just literally sprawled all across her website.

Dr. Feig has done some amazing things in her career, and her class if fairly easy. You MUST speak in her class or she will downgrade you. Her class is totally disorganized and communicating with her can be painful. It is hard to follow her line of thinking, but she does have a very supportive side. She often tells everyone how outstanding they are.

She is really mean. She calls out people who get bad grades and likes to put down her students during lecture. Participate once in a while and try to remain unnoticed afterwards. Class is really easy but you have to read your book on your own though, lectures are pretty much useless. Easy class, mean/bad professor

It's rare to find a professor like her. Hopefully she'll overcome health problems though as it slows down her work. But her dedication to her students is astounding! Very much loved her class. She truly wants her student to go beyond their learned skills. If you're lazy, spoiled & just plain in it for an "A", I suggest you find another teacher.

Dr. Feig is a fantastic professor. She truely cares about each individual student. Her class is simple and strait forward, not to mention very interesting. There is a lot of reading but she is very clear with her expectations and how to succeed in her class. Follow the instructions to a tee and you'll be in good shape.

I love professor Feig. She has had an amazing life and truly cares about education. I learned the most at Foothill from her honors classes. She will not let you get away with slacking off. You must show up to every class and participate. There is a paper/project and a 3-part written final for her seminars. I highly recommend her to anyone.

She was easy, no doubt. But she is extremely unorganized and very very rude. I actually have never even met a human that is so rude, let alone a teacher who you are supposed to learn from. All she does is throw a bunch of stuff on her web site and act like she does a lot of work. It's a huge load of BS and I hope she gets fired soon.

I don't even know where to begin. She is the absolute worst teacher I have ever had. Terrible website, confusing instructions, forces you to use only her sources so you basically can't have your own opinion. And the worst part is that she is incredibly rude. If you are trying to decide whether or not to take this class: DO NOT TAKE IT!

The terrible reviews on this site do not reflect my experience of this teacher. I enjoyed our history class and learned a lot. She is tough, and not always in a good way; also, her lectures were sometimes too off-topic. Overall she is kind and funny and teaches a rewarding course.

Ok she's a little crazy, and her teaching methods are a little unorthodox (and I've never met her in real life..) BUT I do believe she does care about her class and if you follow the instructions closely it's pretty easy to get a B+/A-

Took the class online. Teacher doesn't use etudes, but a site she created. Her site is a disaster with broken links. The work is easy enough. My experience of her was negative. She was condescending when approached with questions and needlessly mean.

I took her in class thanks to my counselor who recommended that I take Dr. Feig in class and my goodness it's also a mistake! This woman often cuts off students who's answers aren't in her perspective, goes into tirades of political affairs, and her lectures makes you want to go to sleep. I dropped the class weeks ago, hopefully she'll retire soon!

Great class. Definitely kind of hard, but she makes it interesting. I took the class online and I got an A.I will admit History is one of my favorite subjects, but I think she is a great teacher. She can be unclear and her webbook is kind of difficult to figure out. But she is open to questions and really understanding.

I love Foothill and it's vested interest in the success of the student, but this professor is anything but a good representation of this institution. Let me put it this way- if her class was the first I had ever taken at Foothill, I would have never returned. Disorganized is an understatement, as is offensive. Avoid. Avoid Avoid.

Here's the deal with the online class: don't take it if you're not good at governing yourself. If you take the time to read carefully, be thorough, and meet deadlines - you're good as gold. Slackers: better take another class. Feig emphasizes critically thinking for yourself and cultivating your own opinions. Bombed final paper, still got a B+.

I have never attended an online course, this is my first and Dr. Feig made my first experience a HORRIBLE one. She is NOT PROFESSIONAL, she is not organized. She CAN NOT write clear instructions on her website to save her life and I don't understand how she actually wrote books and published them. I will NEVER EVER take an online class with FEIG.

I would not recommend Professor Feig for any class, either online or on campus. I had her for 4A on campus and she was more than rude, condescending is quite an understatement of this woman. I barely passed 4A so I wanted to experiment her online class for 4C and it ended up being a nightmare! Her website was confusing. Not recommended at all!

Took her class over the summer, online. Feig was a pretty fair professor. She takes time to read students' essays and provides great feedback. She can definitely tell when you put in work or not. Received a B+ in the course, so the grading was pretty fair. She really looks for your own thinking/analyzing. Planning to take her class again!

The worst. She doesn't use Etudes. She doesn't use a textbook but instead relies on her 'notes' - which are a totally incoherent mess that look like they were constructed by someone with ADD in 1995 - multiple fonts, colors, dead links. I would highly recommend that you avoid this mess. Patronizing, confusing, and incompetent.

It's an easy class if you read the textbook, but her lectures are all about her rantings about politics and religion. She is very rude and every time I needed help to understand her assignments, she said refer to either the textbook or her website. Her website isn't that informative and I didn't take that much as a history major.

Mrs. Feig is a funny duck. But awesome. She really cares about her students and will help them to succeed if they want to. For the honors course it is a presentation or essay for the classwork and 3 essay questions for the final. If you are willing to put up with her rough edges I definitely recommend this course.

The class was more complicated than it should be. If you know your world history in advance, then you may take Dr. Feig, but otherwise take someone else. Lectures are nothing more than tangents about politics and religion. Plus her humor is very dry.

Don't Reccomend at all. She uses her webbook site to teach course which is extremely disorganized, has broken links/incomplete material and she will usually cut points if you do not present her opinions on the exams. Not helpful at all. Gets easily angry when asked for help and is extremely rude in her replies. AVOID! I would never take her again.

Dr. Feig is my all time favorite professor, she has spunk and keeps things interesting. Be sure to do the reading before class, her website is dates, but at least it's not a Pearson website (like my history lab). If you write well (all test are essay format) and participate you'll get an A. She hates excuses, so don't skip class!

I have taken Dr. Feig for both online and on campus, and she is great. While I prefer to take her on campus, I know what I am signing up for, and it's worth it. She coaches you to be successful. Plus she is not the one forcing you to take her online classes nor is she responsible. If you pay attention and follow directions, you will be fine!

One of the easiest professors I've ever had! We had assignments due like essays regarding events within textbook, which I never bought, went on wikipedia and pulled a paper out my rear end. Got B's throughout the whole class. The final assignment was a book report and I read the first 15 pages, it was all WWII stuff. Already learned it so. EASY!

I took her online Hist class back in 2002 and am signed up for 2 more classes for Winter 2015 with her. Same website as back then, but hey, she's an easy professor so long as you do the work. Clear expectations, turn in your work on time and you'll pass.

I don't suggest taking a class from her. She's disorganized, unfocused, and self-absorbed. Constantly talking about how amazing she is for doing research on her book. Doesn't actually teach anything so this class is a huge waste of time. Someone who doesn't think any answer other than hers is the right one.
