A very good prof - outgoing, easy exams
very professional, easy to learn from

He is a little unapproachable for general consultation, but otherwise very cool.

very easy!! Don't even have to go to class to ace this course...

One of the best profs at UTSC
HOT!!!
he is a great prof. that likes his students to do good....
great professor, very clear, easy marker, and is approachable!!!
the materials on the test didn't match what he told us to study...!!!!
i kind of agree with the last person....the test was quite hard!!!
incredile teacher. young. knows his stuff.
Knows his stuff. Explains clearly. Covers the whole 18 chapters in a semester, but only on certainpart of the text. 4 tests total and everything from the book is fair game.
excellent prof!! very passionate about his research and his topics! makes a 3 hour class pass in no time. love how he reads cases because it adds a sense of reality to the course. kepp up the amazing work
Zakzanis is an amazing prof...great teacher, knows his stuff, nice to talk to, approachable. Would recommend his class to anyone.
He is a good prof but I find that he is somewhat unapproachable in some ways. It may be due to his shy nature but sometimes I get the sense that his interest is not undergraduate students.
Not approachable, didn't even teach half the lectures (got his grad students to teach), never available for consultations, impossible to get a hold of by e-mail... course material easy, but tests were looking for minute details (not reflective of material).
Knew his stuff, very good at explaining concepts and demonstrating tests, etc. But unapproachable if you go to him at the wrong time, seems to not value undergrads' opinions at all. Could speak up in lectures. Exams tested minute details irrelevant to course from text - disappointing grade.
Lectures were interesting and he used great examples. Loved that his lecture was online. Great prof over all.
Not approachable. Tends to underestimate the minds of the undergrads. He is brilliant and very successful but his heart is not in teaching...
He doesn't teach. We keep having guest speakers who are completly irrelevant to the course material. Mid term was easy though, even though it covered 8 chapters, which were either barely mentioned in class or not at all. I was expecting this class to be a lot more interesting.
Amazing prof! The guy is absolutely brilliant. Best class I've taken at UTSC so far.
Amazing Prof! Is very clear with his explanations and really funny! He puts his all into class. Best class I've taken so far.
Zakzanis is an amazing professor. The downfall to the class is that the exams are based purely off the textbooks (and in GREAT detail)...so not only do u have to come to class for 2-3 hours (which is a great learning experience) but you also have to read like 2-3 chapters per class. Huge workload but awesome teacher.
Absolutely without doubt one of the most intelligent professors I've encountered in my undergraduate career. Wildly passionate, and is able to communicate well with his students. Fantastic course.
Not to my surprise, all the psy pro are awesome and interesting people. Pro Z. speaks clearly and explains well, but we rather see him do the teachings himself, than listening to his guest speakers who went on and on for the entire class without saying anything relevant. it's a good course, very useful, you should all take it!
No one puts more hard work into teaching a course nor is there any other professor more passionate about their topic area. I love this course and Dr. Zakzanis.
Professor Zakzanis makes learning abnormailites really interesting and fun. He is a very cool prof. and hot i must add.Great dresser too...
Dr. Zakzanis ia an excellent professor!!! I didn't think I would like the course, but he was extremely thorough and helpful, and presented the material in an interesting and entertaining manner. Best prof ever!!! Also very hot...
Very clear with materials in the lecture, fair exam, and very knowledgable
interesting class, I liked the idea of having different speakers as well, brings sense of reality into the textbook
Extremely informative and knowledgable. Keeps the class interesting and lively
Fun class, very interesting topics
he provides many of his experiences with patients, and i think this is very helpful.
AMAZING CLASS! AMAZING PROF! Does a really good job of making things interesting but at the same time you still understand what's going on. I actually look forward to going to this class!
made lectures interesting with guest speakers and he's funny. dresses really nice and seems to understand students. exams are fair
he actually shows interest in the course; which makes his lessons better, at least you can see that he is desperate to share his knowledge with you~ but guest lecturers are not really helpful and rely on guest lecturer to cover exam material ... is killer~
Makes the course very interesting
I loved going to this class cuz the prof made it so interesting....even though it went from 7-10...loved his personality..i also liked how he didnt ever make fun of the patients and made the students realise that the disorders are not something to laugh at...the guest lecturers were fun too.
Prof. Zakzanis has got to be one of the BEST profs I know!
Great prof, he makes the class enjoyable and realistic by bringing in guests and using a variety of case studies to illustrate the many disorders in abnormal psychology
It is the only class I actually want to attend. Fun class...he makes lectures very entertaining and worth the 7-10 hours.
This course will probably be the most interesting course anyone will ever take at UTSC... the prof is AMAZING.. very clear and concise and very helpful with one-on-one questions. Incredibly intelligent and very approachable.
I was looking forward to taking Abnormal Psych, and having a very dedicated and hardworking professor made it all the better. Lectures are clear and concise, the guest speakers and video clips really gave students an intimate perspective on this topic. I highly recommend this course to Psychology students, it is interesting and even a little fun.
Very interesting course
One of the best prof. in UTSC. I like how he relates his personal experiences into the course. He had made the course very interesting.
Great.
I really enjoyed this course.
Great course - I loved the way Zakzanis taught it - his lecture followed his notes which followed the textbook. I found it really hard to read the textbook without his notes so they were extremely helpful as a guide. His lectures are great - he keeps them interesting with guest speakers. Great guy - really knows how to teach. Awesome shoes :P

This class was by far the best class I have ever taken. Dr. Zakzanis is one the best Prof @ utsc. He is got the whole package:looks, body, style, and BRAIN. I think even if you are not in the psych program, you should take this course. YOU WILL LOVE IT & HIM.....
Dr. Zakanis is by far the best psychology prof in UTSC, with Bassilli. I love the way her teaches, and how he follows the textbook. His exams are very fair, and not bad for those who study hard. The guest lecturers he brings in aren't as interesting as him. I recommend Abnoraml Psych to everyone, but beware of the heavy load of readings!! But,

Utter genious of a man, and an incredible prof. You will not regret taking his courses. Holds constant interest of students. Utterly phenomenal prof. Makes UofT Scarb worthwhile!
This course was not very easy, but the profs notes were very organized and the exams were fair. Overall it was a very engaging course, especially with all of the guest lecturers.
Pretty easy to do well in this class, uses questions in the exam from the study guide, entertaining lectures and overall awesome prof.
He is an excellent prof. He enjoys what he does which makes the class that much more fun and motivates us to learn BEST PROF.
Alright prof. Interesting material in this course and easy to do well.
omg!!! the best prof ever. very informative, he kicks butt!! highly recommended. some stuff in the course may be disturbing but it is a great course. he is very fair.
you will enjoy this course! exams are textbook-based but you will want to attend lectures b/c of the guest speakers and your brilliant, funny and stylish prof.
This was a great course and it was taught well otoo. Would recommend this course to who want to explore mental health aspect of psychology.
GREAT class, prof is hilarious, mid term was fair --- best class ever!
Great Prof!
very interesting, will love to take another course he is teaching.
Best prof ever !!!
great prof, isnt scared to make jokes about very sensitive subjects, which is my type of humor. the dude is just awesome and so is the course, though it can get a bit weird in the end
Amazing prof! I would recommend anyone to take this class!
Amazing Prof ... he really knows what he's talking about which makes you enjoy the class more. By the way he has great shoes:)
Amazing prof keeps you interested exam and midterms were super easy
AWESOME prof. very fair exams. interesting course. it's a win-win!
This course was very hard. The textbook is very difficult to read, and the prof doesn't teach everything in the book. His exam consists of a lot of interpretation questions. His lecture material is interesting though and he has lots of clinical examples.
I love this prof. He is just amazing and very helpful in whatever it is that you require help with, be it class material or help with a volunteering position. He is amazing! PERIOD!
Awesome prof! Enjoyable lectures!
Great prof
best class ever taken
Good class. I highly recommend it.
best class ever! this made me switch into the psychology specialist program:) awesome prof, great clarity and keeps lectures interesting. He kinda looks like Johnny Depp LOL
love his example. and i need to know the title and name of his case study book!!
pretty good prof
Very enthusiastic and interesting guest speakers
Best Prof ever! always look forward to going to his class, never have i missed one class! His examples and guest speakers are awesome, it just makes you want to pay more attention and listen! Cant wait to take more courses that he teaches! His like my motivation and inspiration to move forward with my life, with his real life example ! <3
This prof is awesome! He has great enthusiasm and life examples. He really does look like Johnny Depp! So easy and enjoyable to listen to him speak.
this prof made us memorize a very thick textbook for the exam. yes, he did bring in his post doc student Zacariah to pretend to be a doc, all of whic hwas fun but he made the final brutal. i dislike him.
He makes things very clear. However, we practically had to memorize the whole textbook so the course was rather difficult. He's pretty hot tho.
fun lectures, not helpful thou. The exams are all based on the TEXTBOOK! so memorize the textbook if you want to do well in his class.
Too much emphasis on memorizing a whole textbook..too may small details.
Knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and sexxxy!
His class is always interesting and fun to watch.
Great prof, enthusiastic, friendly, engaging. Brings in guest speakers (some educators, some with disorders). Any of his own studies he mentions in lecture/in textbook will appear on the tests. Exams: All MC. 90% Textbook. Know prevelace and effectivness of treatments/therapies.
Fantastic. Hope to have him as a professor again. Clear, concise, enthusiastic and passionate. Obviously very successful, but not conceited or arrogant. Keeps a nice teaching:research balance. I admire him! Fair midterms.
I love him.
Had Prof. Zakzanis for Abnormal Psych. He was incredible in all ways. I particularly like how he pulled personal or professional examples to bring life to the material. I highly recommend this course.
Fantastic prof. Makes everyone in his abnormal psychology class feel comfortable and at ease. He also brings real life examples, including people who share their personal stories. For people who are pursuing a career in psychology, I highly recommend to take one of his classes.
The class was very interesting, however, there is no point in going as the exams are textbook based.
Professor Konstant is a very fun person. I enjoy being in his lecture. Highly recommend this course for people who are interested in psychology.
I LOVE THIS GUY. Best prof so far
Overall, I enjoyed his class. The lectures was interesting and the exams were fair.
GREAT Prof!! His exams are really tough so be prepared!! Study that textbook like no other. I only went to the lectures because he was interesting - the lectures don't help on the exam!!
He is a great prof, classes are fun and easy to understand. Gives great case studies and examples. But he rushes through a lot of the materials due guest lectures so he skipped a lot of information. EXAM purely based on textbook! seems a easy class but class avg not so high!
Loved this course! Professor Zakzanis is one of the best at UTSC, a great instructor and person. Course IS hard, but not quite as bad as you expect, it's possible to do well if you make the effort -don't let the textbook discourage you. Fascinating course with a really great prof!
Super interesting!
He looks like Johnny Depp and his classes are intriguing. Great at story-telling.
Great professor! loved listening to his stories , the lectures were amazing! not he other hand the textbook was a pain to read .
Easy to understand and a fun prof. Really cares about your understanding of material. Midterm was easy! but second midterm and final exam you need to watchout for. All lecture based! pretty much nothing from book!
Great professor! He was well-paced and had a gift of inviting the audience in with his stories. Lecture slides were straightforward and comprehensible. the readings are a MUST but he makes it worth it.
very interesting prof!, loved the lectures
His lectures were very interesting and very easy to follow and he resembles Steven Tyler!!!
Amazing prof ! Best course I ever took at UTSC (and i took this course 2 years ago). His lectures are really interesting and the time flies. Brings people in as guest speakers and its amazing. Though I must agree that the exams were difficult. But I would definitely take the course again :D Highly recommended
Zakzanis is the most talented and charismatic lecturer I've had the pleasure of having at UTSC. The ARC clapped for him at the end of the very first lecture (3 hours; 7-10pm) - that's how good he is. Exams require thorough understanding of of the textbook (it's not a magazine, read and take notes). A phenomenal prof =)
His lectures are available via WebOption. He is an effective speaker and his exams are mainly focused around the topics of his lectures. Overall, interesting course & interesting prof.
What a thoughtful professor! The bonus question in the final exam asked something along the lines of "What should you do if you don't do well as expected in this course?" And the correct answer was to pretty much stay positive. His approach on the subject was steered by his strong opinions on humanistic psychology.
AMAZING COURSE AND PROF!
Best professor I have ever had in my life. He makes 3 hour lectures fly by because he is prepared, interesting, funny, & just all around great. He knows what he's doing and makes me look forward to coming to class! Amazing prof.
He is an amazing professor. I actually enjoy listening to his lecture. Out of the 4 years I have been at UTSC, he is by far my MOST favourite professor. He uses real life examples and class participation to keep students engaged in the content. His lectures are so interesting that they actually stick your head. His midterm is all fair game.
This Professor is just AMAZING. Students learn life long positive things in his class. You will learn not to judge anyone and not be consumed by the judgements of others which I think is extremely essential in life. His tests are fair. His lectures just lightens up my mood. He is extremely motivational. Actually, he is UTSC's treasure :) .
Honestly the best class I've ever taken so far in my undergrad career. If you're doubting taking this class, go to the first lecture and you'll be mesmerized. And not to mention you'll fall in love with Zakzanis. There's an online option too but it's so much better to see the lecture in person. Tomorrow's the last lecture and I'm sad already :(
Very knowledgable and respectful. Humorous as well makes the lectures easier to get through. I would take classes he teaches just because I would be able to learn alot!
Excellent lectures, never a bore.
Professor Zakzanis is an AMAAAAZZINNGG prof. Hands down one of my favourite professors at UTSC. He is enthusiastic and engaging with all students and he makes an effort to relate the material to usour generation. He is friendly and passionate about his work. I would sit his classes all over again.
professor overall was good. As a mental health major I hope he teaches all my classes
Amazing human being, above all! Such a fantastic and enlightening professor who really knows his material. Has extremely fair evaluations, you do have to study hard, but he makes the course interested and fun! Best class at UTSC :)
Aside from being an extremely charismatic person and an interesting, eloquent lecturer, Konstantine Zakzanis is a great human being, who inspires compassion, kindness and understanding towards animals and people. He is encouraging and makes learning complicated stuff easy. I would take his course even if he taught basket weaving.
He is the best professor I've had because he is clear and interactive. He relates many of his experiences and real life situations to the course which helps alot with understanding the material. Plus, he's really hot, which pretty much helps alot on paying attention in class. His provides emphasis for students to learn in his course.
It was a great class. Time consuming, but Zakzanis is very helpful and lectures are engaging.
Zakzanis is one hell of of a professor. Definitely worth going to lectures even though there's an online option. He's very intriguing, inspiring and motivational. The course itself is straightforward, textbook based, but the content is also very interesting if you enjoy psychology. Highly recommend, both for the course content and professor.
Definitely worth going to lectureswatching lectures online! He's engaging and clear and includes little anecdotes that really help you understand the content! Probably one of my most memorable classes yet!
He is an amazing professor!!!!!
Great sense of humour , teaches with passion.
Best professor I've ever had. Wish I could take his course again!
The professor is very engaging :)
He gets the class intrigued from his stories to his lectures. His lectures are easy to understand and he always gets the class interest! Best professor I had so far!
He was very engaging and taught me a lot! I think everyone should take this course if they get the chance!
Great, really engaging prof. It's clear that he is really passionate about the content, which actually makes learning and remembering fun.
Omg! I regret for not going to the class in person. I was a weboption student. From the first day he caught my attention. I understood everything thoroughly. And I was surprised that I was attentive for the whole class, did not have to pause the lecture cast to take small breaks. So of course I was not bored and was very interested in everything.
The class is late at night but somehow he makes it worth it. He is so funny and easy to talk to. His peerscholar assignments are REALLY fun. It's not like its homework, its something you can't wait to do. He is a great prof who cares for ALL his students and knows what he is talking about. He's organized, funny, polite and good looking.
Such an interesting course, and his stories are make you WANT to come to lecture!
He tells great stories to put what we're learning into context :)
Great professor, amazing course. Made it worth missioning out to class at 7:00pm in the winter. 1010, would reccomend.
SIMPLY AMAZING!!! Inspiration to many including myself. Cheers to you Zakzanis! You truly bring a different style of teaching that seems to work every time Also, very handsome :) ;)
By far my favourite class that I've taken! He made the lectures so engaging and fun to watch. I usually struggle with watching lectures online, but I actually looked forward to watching this one. Extremely interesting class, loved all of Prof. Zakzanis stories!
Honestly one of the best profs I've had. He is so inspirational and motivates his students to strive to do better and be a better person. An important concept I will take away from this course is self-actualization, which is not caring about the judgement of others and just living life to the fullest! Such an important concept.
all around good professor really enjoyed the lectures treats you like a friend more so than a student
Best lectures I have ever had.
His personal experiences are emotionally captivating. Content is very transferable to everyday life.
You mad some great points all semester.. Thank... great teacher, Glad you got the girl!!!
Some of the best lectures I have sat through. Zakzanis really brings the psych to life, even the dry, boring parts. I was honestly interested in everything he had to say and am hoping he offers another online class so that I can take another one with him. But chapter 13 of the textbook is super confusing.
He never let their be a dull moment during his lectures. He is funny, captivating, and thorough. You will NOT regret going to lectures. I would miss many of my lectures but never missed his class. A++++
Readings were very long but the assignments and exams were fair. Also, saying that the lectures were amazing is an understatement. They really were inspirational and you can tell Steven Tyl- I mean Dr. Zakzanis loves what he teaches. :)
Great professor, fair marker, very engaging in lectures.
Very interesting and makes exams fair.
Amazing professor, probably the best course I will ever take in my university career. The prof makes you want to attend lectures, he combines his experiences with the slides which reflects the textbook. Exams were okay, they were fair. He clearly cares about his students
The lectures really were amazing but honestly, most of the info you needed to know came from the textbook, so attendance was not at all necessary. Readings were way too long and included way too much unneeded information. Exams were fair but I feel that the peerScholar assignment was marked ridiculously hard.. it's almost unfair.
Good lectures. Course is heavily based on the textbook so expect a lot of readings (A LOT!). TAs were very tough on marking the assignments though. Interesting course overall but definitely not a bird course, not this year at least.
Super understanding dude and one of the realest Profs I've ever had the pleasure to learn from. The real MVP.
Amazing experience :-)
gREAT
This was one of my favourite classes. Lectures are incredibly interesting; he really helps bring the material to life. Text gets a bit dry but all of the minor studies cited aren't on the exams and only the bigger concepts were needed.
Very informative on his lectures. The guests he brings are very inspirational to hear. Lectures and textbooks are very different, and highly recommended to read them and watch them both. Exams are fair, half on lecture half on textbook.
Best professor I have ever had. I personally thanked him at the end of the semester for being so inspirational. Incredibly intelligent in his field, his lectures are eye-opening. He's so down to earth and chill, while maintaining his respect as a prof and he's really nice and very helpful. Absolutely amazing experience and honour being in his class
my favourite class- very inspirational
amazing lectures! love that.
Great, engaging lecturer. Love how he brings in individuals to talk about their experiences. Exams are challenging - make sure you read the book carefully.
This course is super interesting, however, the tests are hard.
PSYB32 is one of my favourite courses ever and this is because of Zakzanis! He's a great professor and makes you want to learn and go to lecture. He's an intelligent, funny, and charismatic man. You won't regret taking this course. Tests are not too easy not too tuff so make sure you know your stuff. Oh yeah, his personality makes him so attractive
one of the best profs at utsc. i didn't pay too much attention to lectures, as the textbook pretty much covers it. there are several assignments though (5 peerscholar, 2 midterms, final). zakzanis is very entertaining and knows his stuff. not an easy A, takes some work... but i wouldn't say it's super difficult.
One of the best professors I had at UTSC and B32 was my most favourite course I have taken. Such an amazing prof. Loved his teaching. I took my mom to one of his lectures and she totally loved it. I wish I could take the course again.
Probs my fav prof at utsc. Made lectures really fun and interesting, I looked forward to going to lecture every week! He brought the textbook material to life with his very captivating and participatory lecture style. Would 100% take one of his courses, and one suggest this course to everyone! Great prof, funny and you can relate to him!
One of the best professors at UTSC. Highly recommend taking PSYB32 no matter what your field is.
My favourite in the department after several years here. Hands down.
Greatest Prof I have ever had, his lectures are so entertaining. You will have to read some chapters, but you can pass the course easy if you watch/show up to class. His exams are fair. I highly recommend Zakzanis and this course!
AMAZING class and prof. Content is extremely interesting and prof makes it even more fun, interactive and interesting. Study tip-study ONLY content from his lecture and use that to read the textbook, don't read 1000+ pages for no reason. His lecture slides info is exactly what he tests on + what he says in lecture is important. Great experience!
Zakzanis is probably the best prof I've ever had! He knows how to perfectly explain concepts and give you real life examples so that everything is clear and understood. He is also hilarious and knows how to make any class interesting and entertaining. The way he put together the course was very impressive, i would definitely recommend it to anyone!
Such an awesome prof.
Fun class! Study from the lecture notes and the readings and you will get an A for sure.
1. Read the textbook 2. Read your lecture notes 3. Get a 4.0
He's hands down my favourite professor at UTSC. Even if you aren't in psychology, his courses are 100% worth taking. He could lecture literally any topic and make it sound interesting. Clearly knows what he's talking about. Make sure you use the textbook to compliment his lectures and you'll get an easy A in the course.
he is the best prof I had so far!! his teaching style is incredible and he wants the students to actually pass his class and do good!! as long as you pay attention in lecture and highlight slides/concepts he considers important for exams you will do great!! best class ever!
Amazing professor, gives such great lectures and makes anything interesting.
I'm weboptioning this course this winter semester but I wish I could have taken it in person. I love his lectures, they're always so engaging and interesting to watch. This is the only class that I genuinely enjoyed the semester. I'm glad we didn't have to do the essay, we had 2 midterms and a final that were fairly straightforward.
It's harder to fail this course than it is to pass with an A. To do well, you have to read the material. If you got a low mark it is because you didn't read the textbook, which is a mistake. The lectures are great but you'll do poorly if you rely on just that. Why should the prof read the material when it's supposed to be us doing the learning?
Konstantine is a good professor. His TAs for PSYC32 could be better. For the lab component of this course ( for those in MH Spec. program) there was little guidance in how to properly administer hard tests. The lab component makes this course double the amount of work. 2 midterms, a lab exam, a lab oral exam & final; this course is 2x the work.
literally one of the most interesting and well taught courses. the prof makes the content sound very very interesting and he is humorous&very nice and easy to approach and interact with. would definitely recommend taking PSYB32 if u are majoring in psych. The prof really takes his time to make sure the content is understandable& the exams are fair
He is an amazing lecturer. Loves to give real life examples concerning to concepts taught in class. hard to get 85 and above. You have to put work in it for that A. This is as the TAs are hard marker. Pretty helpful and makes class really engaging as he brings in lot of guest speakers. His exams are a bit confusing but fair to his lectures.
I sacrificed my summer evenings for this class and did not regret it at all! Prof Zakzanis was an amazing lecturer, and hilarious! The course material was extremely interesting. Just like any course, if you study, youll do well. The exams were fair and the assignment was simple! I highly recommend this course even if you dont need it!
He is an amazing lecturer who is able to relate real life situations to the course concept. Take this class irrespective of the fact its a requirement for your programme or not. Plus his exams are fair to lecture content and textbook too. Additionally, the tas are pretty brutual in marking the assignement. You have to work hard to earn that A+.
Amazing professor, who not only teaches what's required in the syllabus but also things that will help you improve as a person. Would highly recommend even if you're not in mental health/psych.
Amazing prof with super engaging, personable lectures. He doesn't just read off the slides and seems genuinely interested in what he's teaching. The assessments are quite easy and there isn't much work throughout the term. Had a great semester with him and would love for him to be my professor again!
This course really helps you understand psychological disorders and their real world context. The concepts are incredibly interesting and Prof. Z makes them come to life. If you have the option of in person or online lectures, definitely go in person. Will definitely be taking courses with him in the future if possible. Highly recommend this class!
Prof. Zakzanis is a very knowledgable guy, and makes his evening classes very enjoyable. The midterms were both very fair (make sure to write down lecture notes AND read the textbook) and the assignments were pretty straight forward (follow the rubric). Love Zakzanis but the way he pronounces "allele" is a no from me omg LOL
Loved this course! Dr. Zakzanis is an amazing lecturer, he explains the material really well, he's also a really nice guy. Exams were mainly lecture based.
Honestly he is one of my favourite professors as he is inspirational and an amazing lecturer. His exams are mostly based on lectures but skimming the textbook is also helpful as both are fair game. I would say go to lectures in person (if the option is available). All in all, amazing prof and fair exams. PS- the TAs can be a little tough on grading
Amazing teacher :) Loved his course!! Would def take more courses with him.
Gives us an idea of how things work in the real world and gives us confidence
Zakzanis is one of my absolute favorite profsl! Even if a course's content is more challenging to learn and internalize, I always look forward to attending his classes because of how engaging and entertaining he is. The anecdotes he uses with his dog are memorable too. As a prof he is approachable, clearly understandable, and supportive. A for him.
Dr. Zakzanis is the epitome of what a UofT professor should be: inspiring, persuasive, entertaining, passionate, always couches opinion in terms of evidence based research literature, dedicated to ensuring student understanding of complex course topics. I hung on to every word even though the lectures were 3 hours in duration.
Amazing lecturer who makes the class very interesting. Tests are not hard at all.
What a wonderful semester that I had because I am able to enrolled in His class. Attending his class is a great blessing for I am not just learned new knowledge regarding mental health issues, but also values that he want us to have.
Honestly I thought this was an amazing class. When you hear things about profs you often try to turn a blind eye but seriously all the feedback is good feedback. The class isn't too difficult overall but so inspiring. I would recommend everyone take a class with him!
I can't say enough good things about this prof! Amazing and interesting lectures. He has guests come speak in certain lectures. There are 3 term tests. If you memorize your stuff its extremely easy. There are also papers due, which many people don't due well on, due to TA marking and unclear instructions. Otherwise, amazing course 10/10 recommend!
I took PSYB32 summer online course. I CR/NCR this course because I didn't do well on my second term test which worth a lot. I wasn't expected to be tested on diagnosing disorders, memorizing all DSM-5 criteria and we had paragraph long questions. We couldn't change our answers on MCQ. It was difficult.
Amazing professor! I will think about whatever he taught for years to come. I am very grateful for him sharing that he wasn't the best student at the start and had to log in all those hours and that effort (for example" reading the textbook MULTIPLE times). It gave me hope when I thought university wasn't for me. All lectures fascinated!
Probably one of the most enjoyable classes I've ever had, and definitely the most inspirational professor. When you're in his classes, you actually feel like a person, not just another student. Love how much this class is about learning about real life and real people. You'll love his stories and all the people he brings in for guest lectures.
The way he teaches the course just reminds you of how great learning is! I took this course Summer 2020 and it was harder. Read the textbook properly. Phrases said from the lectures were very helpful in understanding the distinction between subtypes of each disorders so LISTEN ACTIVELY. Tests were online and application-based.
One of the best professors I had, even as a student learning online I felt very engaged throughout the lectures, very fair grader as well.
One of the best profs at U of T. period.
I have to give credit to Prof. Zakzanis because he is very passionate about his lecture, it's engaging and he explains concepts THOROUGHLY. He has become my favorite psych prof at UTSC. I would definitely recommend taking this course with him and any other courses he's teaching.
Prof. Zakzanis is easily one of the best professors I have had. He explains the contents very clearly and gives a lot of examples in addition he brings people who suffered mental illness first hand to share their experience. It was unfortunate to have taken this course online as I believe it would be 10 times better and more engaging.
Great prof, amazing lectures and guest lecture.
Reading the previous reviews make me utterly confused. PSYB32 Is a GPA killer. The majority of the exam is scenario diagnostic based and its tricky. Dr zakzanis seems like a nice guy but if you care about your GPA please do yourself a favour and do not take this course.
I took this course since I heard really good things about the prof and the course itself. While the lectures are really good, and the prof explains concepts well, I would avoid taking this class online, since this course was way easier in person. Midterm 1 was alright, but midterm 2 and the final were brutal.
Do not take this course online. Second midterm and final was extremely hard compared to what I have heard from people who took it in person. its a gpa killer. Never got such bad grades in any psych course. Lot of students requested for a curve but they disregarded those emails.
Hes very respectable prof with engaging lectures and he teaching lifelong principles. However, dont take this course online because the examinations are much more difficult. Its sad that this course had to be the one to destroy my GPA.
Its pathetic that in a clinical psychology course, students mental health is not taken care off. Instead of making things easier during this pandemic, the final and second test was made brutal. This was the lowest grade I received in last 2 years at UTSC. Do not take this course online if you care about your gpa.
The prof used lectures from like 4 years ago. Sure, it was entertaining but it felt like a waste of money. The exams were terrible and the questions had errors (especially the 2nd exam). "The Psyb32 team" kept messing up. The course was so hard that CHMB41 felt like a breeze in comparison. Save your money and GPA and listen to the latest reviews.
He's an amazing prof and connects with students on a genuine level. Definitely not a bird course but he makes lectures more interesting by bringing in guest lecturers. Midterms and Final become more application-based as the class progresses but definitely not as challenging and the other reviews are making it out to be. LOVE him!
One of my favorite professors at utsc! But the midterms of this class will leave you thinking you aced it but end up barely passing it. Definitely not a bird course. The lectures are really interesting but he fails to make some of the concepts clear. Overall not a great gpa booster but a good course!
great person and entertaining lectures but this isn't at all an easy course. there are three exams and one short paper all application based and all the small details from the textbook are tested. the exams are hard and the textbook is huge
Literally do not take this class, it's like digging your own grave. The chapter readings are quite literally 1000 pages long and even with his "study guides" it doesn't help because you still need to read everything. His term paper is dumb, why would you give us 1 page max when you want a detailed diagnosis, and the average for this class is a joke
He is a very good professor, who knows how to keep his students engaged with lecture content. I thoroughly enjoyed this class. The textbook is required and it is helpful to study from during exams. His exams are not hard if you have studied the material well.
Best prof ever!
Amazing prof
Great prof and amazing lecs
engaging lectures but huuuggeeeee textbook chapters to read every week. readings can get overwhelming
Arguably one of the best professors I have had. Lectures were lit and the ULTIMATE matchmaker haha
Professor Zakzanis wants everyone to understand clinical psych through real-life examples, and he brings in a lot of guest lecturers that made class exciting. It was very inspirational and it helped destigmatize mental health for lots of students ;0 I wish I could've taken this class in person, but will be taking his other classes next year !!
He's a fantastic lecturer and he brings in lots of guest lecturers too! You MUST study textbook content as that is also equally testable material on the exams. Exams are non-cumulative; staightforward and easy application-based questions but read carefully. He gives a few practise problems during supplementary lectures right before exams.
After taking PSYB32 with him, where I developed a great respect for the professor, he's quite unapproachable and seems mainly focused on just getting his job done. lectures are recordings from the pandemic. The professor comes across as unmotivated, just talking to a screen which fell short of my expectations set by the previous course, PSYB32.
I earnestly hope the professor reevaluates his teaching approach for C31, to align with the inspiring way he conducted B32.
Wish I'd taken this course in person instead of online. Zakzanis is a nice prof. 80+ is very doable if you watch the lectures and do the readings
This course saved my time!! All the exams were online and content was genuinely interesting stuff.
Dr. Zakzanis is an absolutely outstanding professor. In his PSYB32 course, the lectures were captivating, inspirational, and prompted deep reflection. Exams are fair, and Dr. Zakzanis enriches the course by inviting guest speakers with personal experiences of mental health disorders, offering students a real-world perspective.
Great professor, did an amazing job with content.
Professor Zakzanis makes this course engaging with captivating lectures and insightful guest speakers. For exam prep, the textbook and tools like unstuckstudy ai are really helpful.
Don't take this course online. Destroyed my GPA
Does not convey expectations in a clear manner.
