Hes a great guy! Goes above and beyond to make sure u understand! TAKE HIM!!!
this guys cool...im terrible at math, and he helped me a lot, got a C
Easy Prof. He helps alot. In high school, I averaged a D in all the math classes I had to take. I ended up with a B+. Take him if you suck at math.
Great guy very helpfull
Very nice guy and very helpful. Loves to play Settlers!
He filled in when my professor got sick. he is nice and very funny. Also he is very willing to help you if you are confused. He is great i would take his class if i could
AMAZING teacher. Sub'd into my 020 math and is doing a FAR better job than the mainstain, pray he get tenured...and wants it.
Great teacher, very helpful. Take him if you can.
very nice person, makes math fun if that's possible. gotta love the derivative! Take him if you want to enjoy going to class for a change.
he is a good guy, will help you as long as it takes. have to go to every class if u want the break. good guy and would recommmend.
A great professor, he is very friendly and helpful. Will go to great lengths to help students. If it was not for him I would have never passed algebra. My best professor yet!
NEVER HAD HIM. HE'S JUST A COOL GUY. BUT YOU SHOULD PROBABLY DO YOUR WORK. RUMOR IS HE WRESTLED AT THE BORO, BUT HAS NOW EVEN GIVEN A FAILING GRADE TO CURRENT TEAM MEMBERS
He is the best math teacher I've ever had! I'd recommend him to anyone! I've never been one to understand math until Professor Kilburn, he's very understanding and very friendly. Always trying to make math fun, very interesting and very smart!
he's a great prof. Very understanding and goes way above the call of his job. he really wants you to finish and have a good grade at the end. great smile too
doesn't explain concepts well, and is unclear abour what's expected of the student.
Kilburn is AMAZING. It is a one hour math party! he makes the worst class on campus FUN! Take Kory if you get the chance or just sit in on a class and listen to him laugh it's amazing.
Wow! What a hottie. Okay that was the first impression. Then he laughed like a weasel which was great in my opinion. Seriously, he is great! I recommend him to all.
I am taking him again, awesome teacher!
Would definitly recommend him, took him twice and would take him again if I had any more math classes to take. Awesome guy and awesome class!
He was a nice guy but what he taught was a lot easier than his tests. You end up being unprepared and confused on his tests. Unless you are a "math minded" person I would aviod this class.
Awesome prof!! Helps you understand math...and willing to help you if you need it. I'm not a math minded person so I love this class...the pace is good. Sure he makes corny jokes but he's enthusiastic about teaching!!
He is very fun teacher and he really cares how you do. His tests are hard though. He tells you what is going to be on the test, but there is always something added. They are confusing.
He is one of the best math teachers in Edinboro. Very helpful and very funny. Just GO TO CLASS and try your best and he will pass you. His test are kind of hard but he gives you credit for trying. Highly Recommended!!!
He's such a great prof! He teaches in a way that helps you understand easier, and will take extra time if you are still confused. Sense of humor is unmatchable, just beware of his 'party tricks.'
He is one of the most helpful, understanding, and energetic professors on campus.
He is one of the nicest professors at EUP. Very willing to help students if they need assistance. Just think Big Friday in Edinboro.
nice guy, examples are good when you do them in class, but are tests are very tricky. helps you out with attendance, not sure if i would take him again, kinda made finite math a lot, lot harder then coll alg. decent teacher though
Very nice guy! Had him for calculus in SUMMER! Which means we learned a weeks worth of stuff in one day. He came in early to help and stayed late to help us some more. The class was so hard I thought I was gonna die from it but I passed because of him.
he is really funny guy. he tries really hard to make it fun. the tests and quizes very a little difficult. attendance helps out your grade alot. none of the homework assignments are graded for points so the grades are tests and quizes.
He is very helpful and makes things easier to understand. He likes it when you laugh at his jokes.
Aside from the fact that he laughs like Spongebob and makes really stupid jokes, he's a pretty cool guy. He offers help when needed and if you can make him think the whole class is confused, he'll push a test back. I'm sure with time he'll get better as a teacher.
i want to rip him up into little bite size pieces, freeze them in a solution of salt and leave it sit out for the wild horses of nebraska to nibble.
One of the best 104 finite math teachers out there. A lovely man, a cool dude, goofy laugh that lightens of the class, is willing to give class extra credit if class is doing poorly--and he tries very hard to be clear and communicate. Good all around.
Kilburn is a great prof. Calc is a tough subject to learn and to teach, but he does an excellent job anyway. I learned a lot, and thanks to Kilburn I even retained most of it! "Big Friday in Edinboro!" He does laugh like Spongebob!
he is such a goofy guy, he really enjoys what he teaches! if someone is unclear about something he will go back over it without a fuss or dirty look or exasperation. and remember "choose your own adventure."
Lets you out of class early most of the time, doesn't make you do the homework (just recommends problems to focus on), and has straight forward tests. If I liked math, I'd take him again but I'm DONE.
Kilburn is definitly a down to earth professor. very helpful and doesn't waste time. I will most definitly take another one of his classes.
easy class ever. but i wouldn't recommend him if you really want to learn. don't think he knows that much
Hes very clear, very helpful, quite cute and witty too! Love his laugh.
Poor, poor professor. What is Edinboro coming to? This guy can barely teach. PLEASE get us teachers that can communicate. PLEASE!
I used to like math, then I take this guy for a class and can't stand it. I was thinking of majoring in it, but now I'm not. What is going on with these new professors? Why do they have to act cool at the expense of my education. Teach me for gosh sake. Knock off that stupid laugh already. Please.
He takes your lowest test grade and turns it into 100 if you have perfect attendence. Rounds the test big time....and you'd never believe this guy was a cage fighter.
I took Calculus I after taking his Precalculs course, and I never felt more prepared for a course in my life. Maybe the best math teacher I've ever had! Calc I was a breeze thaks to him. Thanks to him, I retained so much - he has cool ways to help you remember things like formulas. Take him if you want to learn and are not afraid of working.
I took his 0 level class, because mathematically speaking, I am an idiot. He seemed to understand that we were all incapible of doing math, and was very sympathetic. He's friendly & will BS with you on breaks. Grades fairly. Overall, I liked the guy & recommend taking his classes.
Whatever you do, do not take a 1 day a week night class with him unless you already know what you're doing. I am awful at math and his quick pace and daily quizzes made it so I could mathematically not pass the class basically right after the add/drop period.
Great math professor ! Made it fun. I hope I can get him again.
Kilburn is a champ. Smartest man i ever met. he cares about the student and will go out of his way to help as long as the student makes the effort. I have done jiujitsu with kory for about 4yrs, took his class last year. He makes the class fun but still teaches. He runs the eup jiujitsu club and is a state champ grappler in ny and used to cagefight
The class can be a pain, but he's very willing to help you out if you are not understanding a certain problem or concept.
Great teacher! He's very helpful if you ask. Moves at a face pace to cover all of the required info. If you show up and do your homework you'll do fine.
I had always heard great things about Kilburn. However, everything is done on the computer now. He's definitely become lazy this year. I would not recommend him to anyone taking a lower level class.
Awful, Awful, Awful..did I mention he is Awful? cause I cant stress it enough. very hard to understand goes to fast and half the class has failed every exam. Dont take for lower level it wont go well
Very bad teacher.
Kilburn's class is very difficult. If you are not going to school to be a mathemetician or an engineer DO NOT take stats with him. He will help you outside of class but is very off-task. His class is hard, he is a two face, and I would NEVER suggest taking him for stats; especially if math/stats isn't your strong point. HORRIBLE!
Should be an easy class. He will do a lot of easy problems in class, but put difficult problems on the test. Also, he does not give enough time to take quizzes or tests. Not recommended at all.
Doesn't give enough time for any of the quizzes or tests. A little more than half of the class finishes on time. Should be a super easy class but the quizzes and tests are harder than the hw or things that he goes over in class. Should be an easy class but isn't b/c of him. I'm fairly fast but only managed to completely finish only 1 quiz.
He's tough, but very fair. He probably should be teaching at an ivy league school somewhere. He does too many examples sometimes. If you put in the time, then you will be fine. If you try to "slide through the cracks" then you better take someone else. He's good at explaining, but also expects you to put in some time at home. Easy to talk to.
Good luck teaching yourself
He's very fast paced and the examples you do in class are very easy compared to homework, tests and quizzes. Requires hours outside of class to understand. I recommend not taking the class unless it's required for your major.
Extremely fast paced, doesn't cover quiz or test material much . Doesn't give enough time on quizzes. Seems like a pretty cool guy outside of class but is bad as a professor. Stay away from him. Would not recommend for math 150. Even Sprague is a better route to take. She is an easier grader and is a slower class. Will get a better grade in there.
What is done in class is nothing like what is on the test. The only people doing well is those who have had the class before.
Dr. Kilburn is a great professor. However, his examples are easier than the actual quizzes of tests. Make sure that you look more at the class notes rather than the notes on the homework and the book. Put a lot of effort in the class and attend class. He is a great professor that will always do what he can to help. Good adviser.
Dr. Kilburn is amazing. He's one of the most enthusiastic helpful professors I've ever had. Unfortunately, he's notorious for his quizzes and exams being way harder than what you practiced. He's hard, but I would suggest him to anyone.
Dr. Kilburn is the friendliest person I’ve ever met. He’s very easy to talk to and willing to help. Calculus is really hard but he makes class enjoyable with his personality. His quizzes and exams are challenging and the class requires hours of hard work outside of class, but this is college so it’s expected. I would definitely take him again!!
Very difficult class, but he made it bare able. He is an awesome person as well as professor and is willing to help you as much as he can to understand what is going on in the class. The tests are difficult, but that comes with the class, not the professor.
The class should be a lot easier than he makes it. A ton of online homework and only get minimal points for it. The tests include a good bit of info that he never covers and just expects you learn yourself. Wish i would have had a different professor.
Dr. Kilburn is an awesome professor. He provides a lot of examples in class to drive the point home. His quizzes and exams are difficult and they will certainly challenge you. If you approach this class with a drive and optimism you will be successful. Calculus is hard, but so is life. The man's a genius and is always willing to help.
I had a horrible time with his class. I'm generally an A math student (occasionally a B+), I barely got a D. He'd teach stuff one way, the online assignments taught another way, and on the tests it'd be asked differently and no partial credit. Forget a negative sign? 0 pts. Retaking this class with a different teach and I have an A while relearning
Some people really struggled with this class but I've taken statistics before so it wasn't bad. Get the book, it helps out a lot when he isn't clear on what he means. The homework is online so you need to buy the WebAssign. Tests are pretty hard but you can definitely get a good grade if you try. Basically you have to actually work in this class
Hardest class ive ever taken. No opportunity for points other than quizzes and exams. Expects you to know everything he goes over and the tests are unreal hard
Tests and quizzes worded in a way that you have never seen or heard of before. Homework is online and also includes stuff that was absolutely never ever covered in class and does not say if that stuff is on test or not. Nice guy, but not necessarily a good teacher. I am a math major too and hope to never have to take him again.
Very well structured course, great at covering material, leniant with tests and quizzes (i.e final grade replaces lowest test grade, if higher). Will work extensively with you if you need help or rescheduling a testexamquizetc. Consistent and time consuming homework, but not difficult and homework grade is rounded up to nearest 10%!
Dr. Killburn is an amazing human, but that's about it in terms of his class. He is very helpful and is there for you. He is open to helping you outside of class whenever you need it. His homework was online and helpful. His tests are incredibly hard. I think 3 people from my class actually passed, and they all previously took calc. Good luck
Dr. Kilburn is easily one of the best professors in the department. MATH211 is a relatively simply math course, but when I have questions about anything he is always eager to help. And another thing: when your professor apologizes for not grading your homework due to a death in the family you know you have a dedicated professor.
He is a really nice guy who is more than happy to take your question in class. His tests can be pretty difficult, so come prepared. Homework consists of groups of assignments due on the dates of tests and graded worksheets
The good: Is more than happy to answer questions in class, and he's a nice person in general The bad: Tests are really hard, and practice exams make them look easier than they are. A problem that was considered "extra credit" on the practice exam made it on the regular exam as an actual question
Worst professor I have ever had. Find someone else to take the class with.
I've had many profs who were tough with grading and have done well. But Dr. Kilburn looks for the right ANSWER, doesn't give much credit for the right PROCESS. I saw students who earned high scores on quizzes by copying the right answers from past quizzes while providing a bullsh*t solution. Great teacher, but I prefer process based grading.
Tests and quizzes (or as he calls them "classwork") are necessarily hard. Only gives extra credit if everyone bombs a test.
Horrible at teaching. He is not clear on what he teaches and is very fast paced. He does the problems on his calculator then doesn't explain how he got the answer. Nice guy but his teaching skills are horrible. Tests, quizzes, and homework's are different than what he goes over. Would not recommend taking his class
The best word that describes his style is: "Thorough". His tests contain EVERYTHING that was discussed in class, so to do well on the exams, you must know EVERYTHING. If there's ANYTHING you don't know or are unclear on going into an exam, then figure on missing points.. Awesome professor, but he might want to go teach at MIT or some ivy league.
I came into this class confident, seeing as though I already took Precalc in high school, but this man is almost making me reconsider my major. He is not very thorough with his explanations. Also makes it hard when there are people i the class who like to shout out answers, because it makes Kilburn think everyone knows the answer. Avoid this guy.
He is the nicest professor who does care and will let you turn in late assignment, but hes tough. If you miss a quiz you can not retake it and if you miss an exam youll fail. He doesnt let you work with groups to learn better, just lecture and homework each class. I do believe that he isnt a bad professor, but his teaching isnt best for all.
I don't think I have ever taken a harder class in my life. If you are good at math you might be able to get a C. If you know you are bad at math, do yourself a favor and take anyone else. He is a really nice guy but you never have any time to finish exams and they are the majority of your grade.
Some of the topics were tough, but others went well. I liked him overall, because he answered every question and always seemed to be in a good mood.
makes concepts seem simple, available outside of class, willing to help students
I had taken precalc in high school, so I thought I would be good and prepared for this class. I was wrong. He half-teaches you the material and expects you to be an expert on it by the end of one class. Pretty much just teaches straight out of the book. The homework is also way harder than what he teaches you.
Can't miss class more than three times before he starts taking points off. The homework is always more in detail than class examples and way harder. Tough grader. Very nice guy though.
Honestly just a call teacher. Did not clearly get information across and impossible tests
I was never good at stats, to begin with, but this class was beyond difficult. He would tell us what to look over for the exams, but the concepts would be things we barely covered. We had a test where he gave us extra time, and everyone has at least 2 pages blank. Also, be prepared for the most interesting laugh and talks about Brazilian jiu-jitsu
He is a great professor if you already have a solid grasp on mathematics. He gives out homework for each thing, but it is submitted online. Out of the Math professors I have had, he is one that cares the most and tries to get everyone to understand. Gives tricks with the calculator that could help in other classes as well.
Dr. Killburn will make sure you leave the class knowing every angle to tackle a problem from. For calculus 2 quizzes he allows you to take them as a group. He understands that the content of the class is difficult.
Very difficult class, but Dr. Kilburn is a great professor. Very helpful and has good lectures. I got through this class by creating a study group, which helped a lot. Highly recommend doing that for student success. Difficult exams that make you think. Talk to other students in class and make a study group. He encourages it.
Awesome professor. He loves students who take extra time to understand material discussed in class that may not be clear to them initially. He is very open to questions during and after class. He is notorious for making difficult finals and exams, but that's because he expects students to put forth full effort on all the homework and quizzes.
Dr. Kilburn is a wonderful professor. All you have to do is show up for class and pay attention. He provides opportunities to go over things until it is understood. The homework and tests are almost exactly what was gone over in class. He makes his classes light-hearted and humorous. I would recommend taking this course with him if you can.
Very nice guy, very understanding and is their to help. He gives homework quizzes and exams online my class (trig) we did a 30 point in person portion that he graded. Encourages notes and wants you to successed
Goes through examples on how to do the problems on the board and works through them step by step. Explains everything clearly, stops to ask if there is any questions, etc. Very solid teacher and would definitely recommend taking his class if you struggle in math. A lot of online work & tests, final was the only in person grade.
I absolutely LOVE this professor. He is the kindest professor who genuinely enjoys his job and wants to help his students learn and understand the material. If you have questions, ask them! You don't need to come to class, but if you want to pass I would suggest it. Also my textbook was never used; I wouldn't recommend buying one.
I absolutely LOVE this professor. He genuinely wants his students to learn and understand the material. If you have a question, ask him! While attendance isn't mandatory, I would go if you want to understand Calculus. Also, I wouldn't recommend buying a textbook; I never used mine.
He is a great person and professor, caring, and is very understanding. He lectures very well and gets the class involved. He teaches under the assumption that you are proficient in previous math courses. Make sure to attend all classes even though its not mandatory, because he teaches very fast. 1 to 2 lessons are taught per hour.
Professor Kilburn runs a tough class, but his lectures are worth attending. The homework is challenging, so using resources like unstuck ai alongside the textbook can be really helpful. Stay focused, make a study group, and you'll get through this class.
I struggled in math in high school. Dr. Kilburn made me no longer struggle. Despite his class being non-mandatory, I recommend going to class. You will learn. Homework, quizzes, tests, and even the final were online. Had to go into his class for one page of the final. Easy. He makes his classes light hearted and will respect you if you do the same.
