Bachiyska scared me at the beginning of the semester. I was afraid I would be lost in her class, not get the subject material, and fall behind drastically. However this all turned out to be false. She is a really tough Professor, but she is an amazing one too. I feel like I have learned so much from her and from her class. A+ professor

She is clearly a very talented and smart professor , but for a 100 level course asks way too much. Answers on reading quizzes often pulled from single sentences of 20+ page articles. GOVT-235 has a learning curve, as many students expect light readings due to it being a 200 level class. You must be prepared to read and must be able to answer questions about the readings. However, while the class is initially difficult, Dr. Bachiyska tells you what you need to improve on and is very accessible outside of the classroom.

Best class I have taken at AU but also the hardest by far. This class is a learning curve - the assignments and reading are very hard at first, but after the first few you get a sense of what she expects. Class discussions were engaging, and the cold calling is tough but helps you learn. You will probably cry a few times but you will learn a lot.

Professor Bachiyska is not for everyone. She expects you to be paying attention during the whole class, assigns a lot of readings, and has pop quizzes to make sure you are paying attention. That being said, she is an amazing lecturer and if you go to office hours and show her you care, that may help you. PARTICIPATE in class it will help your grade

By far the hardest class I had this semester, but also the class I learned the most from. Bachiyska will cold call you, so you need to be prepared with all the readings. Going to office hours to talk to her it will make the class easier. You MUST participate and be ready to read 60 pages between classes. Getting an A is a LOT of work

Honestly, I created an account just to post a review. Shortly, she is extremely intelligent in her field, but is very abrasive and lacks empathy for those who challenge in her class. Lots of readings and pop quizzes. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone unless you're passionate about political conflict (which no one is, it's an AU-Core class).

This woman is probably the smartest person I have ever met. However, for my particular learning style, she is not the teacher for me. Be prepared to be cold-called on, read difficult readings, and write a lot of papers. She is funny at times, depending on what mood she is in, but she also is a good person and has a big heart.

Easy readings: all you have to do is read the abstract and results section-maximum of 2 hours before each class. She also really buffs the participation grade, guaranteed 60% if you participate like 4 times. FCA is also buffed. I wrote mine 5 hours before due and got 12/15. Her strategy is to make things seem hard but grades easy. Great experience
