He's an okay professor. His teaching methods are a little bit weird and sometimes you can't understand him. Very strict on writing assignments. All and all, he's there to help if you really need it. Tests are easy if you study.

hes okay, he makes his class write a lot, he gives 4 test which are 10 problems, if u like math u should take him bec hes teaching methods are weird, hes weird as well, he talks in Greek at times, and oh yeah if u take him make sure u get him Greek Yoke-rt he loves them :)
His teaching methods suck, takes too long to explain something. He doesn't even know how to use a Ti-83/84. The online HWs are nothing but frustrating.
He was great, really took his time to explain things and made sure all the students understood!!!
This guy has the worst teaching methods in the world. I took this class in HS and i passed with an A- I was hoping this would be one big review but NO. He made everything seem 20x Harder than it really is. His tests are difficult. You need to teach yourself. He is very gloomy and tiring. STAY AWAY...or Good Luck.
Look today was 1st day summer class with this guy. HOW DO YOU COMPLICATE STATISTICS this subject is easy but yet he makes it feel like brain surgery. use the text book hes wack im so disengaged now and done with his teaching method. i dont understand why he just doesnt explain and move on like vocab he confuses that NEXT!

He is such a nice and helpful person. But his method of teaching is like ancient math level.If you really read the text book and do his work you will be fine. But if you are lazy, you wont get an A .

Nice guy, Horrible teacher. His sense humor is laughing when you don't understand something. Impossible to understand. I would not recommend him. Went to an hour of tutoring every day after class and still failed his exams. The stuff he says is going to be on the test isn't and then he laughs and says you should know the material on the test also.
Professor Stroumbakis has his own method of teaching which will help students learn the subject. In the event you show perseverance and study the textbook you will be fine. Firstly, you might be thrown off by his teaching but when you study and come to class with questions you will learn. Secondly, study hard. Lastly, persistence is key. good luck!
His teaching skills are really bad. Doesnt post grades online and never brings grade book to class, even when requested. NEVER PREPARED FOR CLASS. Gives out homework & doesnt collect it. He will take forever to solve ONE problem. He shows you only the hard ways to solve problems. The math student tutors are better at math then him!!!!1
He's pretty funny in times but not a very good professor. His teaching methods are confusing and people think the same way. His exams are so difficult as well.

I don't know why everybody is complaining about prof stroumbakis. I went into this class in fear because of all these reviews but he's a great professor. He explains material until students understand it and he's funny too! He gives points on the exam even if you make a few mistakes. Would recommend for 336
I took this class in summer. I have to say he is a really good professor. If you pay attention on his lectures and do homework then you will be good.
What ever you do, DO NOT take his class for Pre-calculus. His lectures are really boring in which, he teaching from the testbook and bearly explains anything to make it easier. He does not let you use a graphing calculator on exams. Don't get me wrong he is a nice guy but, when it comes to teaching he was probably one of the worst professors yet.
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR STATS. HE EXPLAINS THINGS SO HARD WHEN STATS IS TRULY AN EASY SUBJECT. DO NOT TAKE HIM HIS TEST ARE HARD AND HE DOES NOT REVIEW.
Good choice; explains material several ways to help you understand. Has a sense of humor. He appreciates when students put in work and try, even if you are bad at math - participation counts with him. Must attend class and do HW! if you are stuck on a problem, ask him in class and he'll go over it. very fair professor.

Kostas knows what he is talking about, but he makes things so complicated. Anything basic and simple that he teaches he makes complicated. I passed tis class by using YouTube links for khan academy. He doesn't give partial credit on his test which means you have to get every word of the answer correct to get full credit. Do not take this guy!!
HES THE WORST MATH TEACHER!!! he explains simple things in such complicated ways and confused students all the time I hate his class I wish I read reviews before taking his class if you can avoid him AVOID HIM! he's boring, he gives no homeworks, no reviews most of the methods and things he teaches aren't even on the test NOR the cuny final. hated.
(Fall 2016) He teaches well but his test are really hard, I would get like 21/100. He gives extra credit after every test. Overall he is a nice guy but if you dont do the extra credit or study a lot for his test you will fail.
He does not give homework or review sheets and all his exams are written. He does not use the textbook but rather some pointless powerpoint. He is late to class and expects you to wait for him to show up for more than half an hour. You have to teach yourself and have no idea what type of questions to expect in his exams. EVER.

There are no review sheets & verbal examples are never helpful for the exams. It's a very frustrating class to take. He'll give extra credit and is willing to negotiate ways to get your grade up but that doesn't make his class easier. He says his class is an easy C he doesn't strive for students to understand the way he teaches.
worse Professor ever only gave 2 hard exams and doesn't help review for final just recommends you to go to tutoring and gives no homework and his lecture can be 2 hours long and he will just do 2 questions throughout all that time.... NEVER AGAIN
I will not recommend the ESL students to take his class. He always teaches a lot of things in 2 hours and you can not really understand all the points. You need to spend a lot of time in reading test book, and you can go to his office during his office time and he is very kind and helpful. Working hard and reading books are very important.
He only gave us one assignment instead of reviews and extra credit. He only get us 50 mins to finish double-sided hard tests. It is very hard to finish and get high score in his class.
He is an easygoing professor with no assignment, but no phone on his class, his tests are difficult except the final but final only stand 30%. He makes some easy points very very difficult, reading the book on his class is easier than listening his lectures. So, its really difficult to get a high score on his class.
He gives really hard tests. The things he gives on tests doesn't teach you how do do them. You have to learn from the text book by yourself

This professor is a super nice and funny guy, not so good of a professor. The way he teaches is really confusing and most likely if you don't already have some kind of knowledge on statistics then you are doomed. Tests are extremely hard. I don't recommend this professor especially if you are not good with math and teaching yourself material.
He is the math professor who does teach real math logic. How many of us would still remember the trigonometric formulas years after school? The purpose of learning math never just remembered the formulas, but to develop the skill in analyzing the problem, and eventually solve the problem. So he is the one who actually would show you these skills.

Took him for precalculus in the summer. don't expect and easy grade. But if you work for it you can get a good grade. I started with a D on the first test and finished the class with B+ but I had to work for it. I guess there's no free lunch Also put your phone away. he'll call you out if he sees you texting. I hate math and this course you had to read so much because it's like almost all word problems. He's very patient to teach you even in his office hours but very not patient if you use your phone when he's teaching.
His lectures are horrible and he doesnt explain well. If you dont get good grades on his tests, youre not getting a good grade. Other professors will work with you and give you extra homework/credit or maybe drop a test for you or something! But he will not. Horrible!!!

Difficult class. He teaches out of the textbook. Tests are the only thing that counts toward your grade and barely any review. Easier for me and other students to study from the textbook at home or search for a tutor instead of listening to him teach from the textbook in class. Just feels like he's there for the paycheck at the end of the day.

This professor shouldnt be a teacher, he always will try to make things difficult for you, sometimes to understand the explanation is more difficult than the problem, he basically made me drop the class putting so much homework that he never explained, he wanted us to learn by ourselves and the exams were really hard
Knows math very well but cannot teach it. Better to use those math skills in a different career not teaching. Goes so extra and complicated for no reason for each lesson. Almost never answers emails. No calculators allowed on exams. Course is hard as it is but for mu opinion, he made is even more complicated

What a teacher. Knows math like a pro but can't even TEACH it properly I swear to god. A waste of a semester for sure. The first month or so he wasn't bad not gonna lie I was about to give him a 3 even though his teaching skills back then was bad too, but then as time went on he became worse and worse. I am not great at math, but this professor made it an enjoyable experience. He is very knowledgeable and is aware that not everyone in the class understands quickly. Most tests are open notebook which is very fair given the amount of information. I would definitely take him again!

Very good teacher caring and funny. He won't make it easy for you but if you work it's ok. If you take him online be careful with discussions that disappear. Hell give you 10 minutes to post something like a pop quiz in the middle of the lecture but he grades it high if you post.
Not accessible outside class never returns emails, nonchalant answers when spoken too, unfair grader, does not know how to teach at all. Youtube helped me better. He messed up my GPA and doesn't even care about his students.

Just finished his class online. some complains here don't make any sense. We used a book from day 1. He stayed late after class to help you and made extra office hours if you couldn't go to regular office hour. He's a good teacher and knows his stuff but you have to put MANY hours. I didn't like the pop quizzes but hey...
What a waste of time. Always goes over the specified lecture time. Joining in his lecture is counted as attendance, you have to "participate" ask questions even though you dont got any. Would rather clean toilets than sit through one of his lectures. Don't take his class PERIOD
I agree that the complaints don't make sense. This prof. pushes you to understand and some students prefer the easy way. I know because he put us in groups and some students waited for the answers to just come. He's funny and caring and you can learn a lot from him but he's not an easy A
This prof gives very clear lessons but he should get better wifi. I appreciate that he stays late to answer questions. I messed up the first test but passed it because he curved. Some students are upset because he calls on them when their not paying attention. So funny!!

I was from his calculus 2 class. This prof. is very knowledgeable and caring. He has his own way to teach. As long as you pay attention in his lecture, then you'll see you're actually learning more. He pushes us to learn is the way he cares about us, especially during these remote learning. We should appreciate how he engages the students.

Very understanding professor but the course is difficult especially for 5 weeks
I'm just coming back to school and he's one of the better professors that I had. Class stops at 3 but he stays with you as long as you keep asking him questions. Sometimes he stayed to 4:30 He's not easy. But if you keep working it pays off. I'll know for sure in a few days!
Very boring and confusing. I retook this class with another professor and got an A. Hes horrible. Waste of time and money and he will ruin your GPA. His way of teaching is unfair to the students.

He never gave the class a chance to ask questions. Always taught two hours after class was over and then decides to give us a pop quiz on things he taught after the designated class time. Im in nursing school now and I will forever come back to warn students about how rude, arrogant and tough he is for no reason.
Very poor organization of class. Does not tell u when the hw is due. Will not give u any extra credit to make up your grade, makes you do classwork but does not tell if it will be counted towards your grades or not. So you'll be in a bubble wondering what to do. He does not take any quiz and only 3 tests will determine your whole semester.
Unorganized teaching, he mumbles through the entire lecture and gets mad when no one has any questions to ask because we CANNOT hear him. His grading criteria is TERRIBLE, we take 3 tests and those 3 determine your whole grade for the semester despite spending $55 on an online textbook to do homework for the entire month.
Very good teacher and acres about his students but easy A is not his thing so don't take him if that's what you want. FYI I put 6 hours a day for the winter class. If I had to do more math I would choose him again but this time for a regular semester
Hes a very confusing professor. He has no regards about how the students feels due to his confusing lectures. From my experience all he does is just ramble some mumbo-jumbo but I have to do with Statistics. He makes you do a hell a ton of work in which his lectures make no sense whatsoever. Zero consideration for students. Not Hating Just saying.
Very nice professor with dry humor. The project was a pain in the neck but it helped a lot when I transferred. I dropped the course with another teacher before so this was my second time and it was very different style of teaching.
DO ALL HIS WORK even if you fail or do bad. especially PARTICIPATE, overload him with QUESTIONS. and stay after to ask for help even if you don't know where to start. he grades on how hard you work for your grade. this class includes 5 test, a final, 2 projects other work and an intro videos. bug him if you send an email. other than that he's nice.

He gives you a lot of HW and he did not even give a brief review on the prerequisites for this class he just gave you a quiz. If you want to fail or get a below average grade take him. This is one of QCC's worst professors ever, he's a very tough guy, doesn't listen to students' concerns. Maths is hard but he makes it even harder. Professors are there to help students but not him, I am taking his summer class, and on the 2nd-day test 30 questions 50 mins when he didn't teach or review the materials, pop quiz last 2 min. STAY AWAY

Had a condensed five-week course with him. Grading criteria prioritizes participation more than homework, which is upsetting because of how much homework a night we had to do. Thought we should spend 42 hours a week learning the material. Takes half a week to respond to emails. Made the entire class harder b/c allegedly some students cheated.
Took 5 weeks summer class, it's short and condense moves quickly you have to be prepared if you are not then don't take it. It only seems like lots of HW because it's 1 semester in 5 weeks don't be lazy and slack off do the work show up and most of all participate you will be just fine. The prof always asks if there are questions be sure to bring.
Worst math professor in qcc. I am not joking. His lectures were so hard to understand. When we asked questions he would get angry and when we didn't he would also get mad. He wants everyone to participate and if you don't he will make you feel stupid. Just pick someone else or if you were forced to choose his class then good luck!
This professor was by far the WORST professor I have ever encountered in my college years. The start of class was very simple, however, he did not follow the syllabus. As the last weeks of the semester neared, he threw a bunch of assignments in our faces and expected us to finish it in 3 days. Stay away from this professor.

You don't get an easy A with this guy. It's true!!! But he's fair. If you want to understand stuff follow what he tells you. I didn't believe it when he old me to put 4-5 hours each week... His project was very real world. It took some time but i got it right in the end Make a list of the new words and their meaning. It saved me.
make sure you know how to take notes properly. he doest tell you what to write and he doesnt tell you whats important. he also doesnt give any other notes outside of his lectures. he doesnt give any study guides for his exams so you're gonna end up guessing whats gonna be on the test.
Awesome class and project. Don'r miss classes or you'll get lost. He shows how statistics relates to life. It's my second time taking it. The first time all I had to do was plug numbers in formulas. But with his way you have to understand what formulas to use and what they results mean. He treats you like an adult. If you ask for her he's there.
I like Professor Stroumbakis. He has a clear class. He will write down the main content of each class in the upper left corner of the blackboard. The professor is willing to help us solve problems. Professor Stroumbakis is a very good professor.

Professor Kostas is very nice. He would like to answer the questions when you are confusing. I could not understand everything that professor was teaching us in class because I have language problems. but he always would stay awhile for us to see if we have question need to ask. He told us don't worry all the time.
and he explained the math problems used easy english for us.I was sick and I couldn't go to school for whole week. I called professor and asked a postponement of the test. finally, he adjusted date of the text. By the way, he was the first professor I could contact directly.:P , I have to say, he is the best

Although I received a high grade from his class, it mostly came from a curve. Most of my classmates had low grades. He was frequently late to his classes. After I complained, he did improve. But he still can be 15 to 20 minutes late. The homework is optional but recommended. I would not repeat his class.
I took his class on 01/23 for winter class and he was GOOD! He is very strict about not talking in class and not cellphones while he is teaching but if you Participe, ask question, and volunteer to solve problems in class he sees that and gives you extra points, that could help you for a better grade.
I had to be honest about how I felt. He speaks very slowly, his classes are boring, and I don't like the way he teaches. He never said what is the key point, I am very disappointed with the final questions, he has not taught many questions. He'll be late a lot and he doesn't care who's in attendance.He's a nice guy for sure, but he can't teach.
I took Dr. Stroumbakis this Spring 2023 semester, and had a good experience. He was clear what would be on exams and gave many examples to help understand the coursework better. If a student did not understand something he was willing to go over it again. This is clearly a professor that wants you to succeed but you need to put in the work.
Take someone who can actually teach.
Dont let the negative reviews fools you. This professor is great he will give you every opportunity to ask questions he will stay as long as you need him too. In the beginning it may seem difficult but do not drop and participate as much as possible it really matters. Good Luck !!!!
for the summer course, participation was worth 20% of grade, make sure to ask qs during/after class as he will explain things. take good notes during class & practice doing problems urself.there wasn't much hw, 4 tests+1 cumulative final. formula sheet allowed,free textbook provided.u need to put in the effort to read the textbook & do problems.
IMO the Prof did his part explaining the concepts and going over examples in class. The level of difficulty for his exams are pretty consistent so gauge how + what to study after 1st quiz. Not a lot of time on exams so do the probs you can and move on. As others mentioned, doing practice problems on ur own time is necessary.
He's a good professor but he explains the material too complicated. He spoke in a low voice which made it difficult to understand. The quizzes he would hand out would be what he taught in the lecture yet we won't review it in class, that part we had to do it ourselves. Yet, I had to withdraw from the class because I did poorly on the quizzes.
A good teacher, but he doesn't really explain the lessons very well and he doesn't give review sheets. You'll be at home teaching yourself about the lessons he taught. Definitely have some study buddies if you even attend this class because if you don't you'll end up withdrawing like I did.
There are a lot of issues in his class. He can't teach math effectively. He taught coding before, now he teaches math. Despite lacking depth in many areas, he switched to teaching math. There is no extra credit or homework to earn points or grades. He never provides review sheets or exam tips.
Professor Kostas is not a walk in the park, he is a great professor if taken in a reqular semester. I take him in summer and was not a student that is maths savvy, so yeah. But if I had taken his class in the fall it would be an easy A. One thing I can say please be prepare to work, because in his class working hard is going to be your success.
NEVER AGAIN the professor thought he was teaching history on the first day he was 30 mins late on top of that The test he gives out is way harder than what we learn in class don't take him unless you wanna fail
If you do the work he's good Don't use your phone in class! He expects you to put in hours every week. I didn't do it in the beginning and learned my lesson
Literally the worst prof ever. If you are taking him PLEASE SWITCH ASAP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE. HE DOESNT EXPLAIN NOTHING. HALF THE VLASS WAS GONE WITHIN A FEW WEEKS OF SCHOOL, EVERYONE FLUNKED THE FIRST EXAM CAUSE HE LITERAKKY DIESNT EXPLAIN NOTHING. IF I COULD GIVE HIM A 0 I WOULD. SAVE YOURSELF.
Kostas is a mixed bag - challenging but rewarding if you put in the work. I found unstuck ai really helpful for exam prep alongside the textbook. Definitely need a study group to succeed in this course.
There was a total of like five tests during the whole semester. After the tests, he lets you take a picture of a blank one which was beneficial because it allowed us to go over it by ourselves after class. There was no homework and he rarely checked for attendance. No phones. Pretty chill.
He's pretty chill and grades fairly. Always there when you need him. Always talks about you doing the "student thing" Oh and don't dare get on your phone in class.
Dis professor doesn't care about his students. Your time & money worth nothing to him,& for me,I THINK is a wicked professor.This is a statistics' class no review sheet and no review for the exam. I asked him to do general review before our first exam to narrow down on what is coming for the exam, he told me to drop to the class. looks down on ppl.

Very nice professor. Sometimes funny. If you "do the student thing" like he says it's an easy pass. He can go overboard with ppl using the phone in class! Wanted to write this before I changed my mind. The final is tomorrow :-)
