She's a good professor. She does spend a lot of time lecturing her opinions and personal stories though. Armour wouldn't really be my first choice, but I thought her class was easy.
She is the dopest political science professor! Her class is easy as long as you are not lazy. I thought this was going to be another boring class, but I was clearly mistaken. She makes class very fun and interesting.
She is amazing!!! Very funny and incredibly knowledgeable and caring. There are 3 easy tests and lots of extra credit opportunities. NO NEED TO EVEN BUY THE BOOK, she will email you all the power-points and study guides for the tests and lets you use your notes during.
She is amazing, be aware a lot of work, however she gives a lots of extra credit opportunity . DON'T BUY THE BOOK. One piece of pp can have with you on exam, to write everything you want there. STUDY FROM HER POWER POINTS, I thought i will get C or B in her class I got an A because i did all and all of extra credit. Good luck.
I wouldn't take her class. She focuses a lot on her personal stories and opinions. I feel like I didn't learn much. She makes you do a lot of work which is understandable for a college course. She only lets you do the extra credit if you do all the homework, so if for any reason you couldn't do one assignment she won't let you do the ext. Credit
She's not a good professor. All she really did was lecture about her life stories and opinions. I really didn't learn anything about politics in general. She was also very disorganized when it came to lecturing. She would always say "great class" after every class meeting, but that's only because they were very self-centered.
Gives an essay every week if your take her Friday once a week class, her tests aren't that bad you can bring a cheat sheet but the reviews are a lot of work. Her essays are usually 3 pages long but toward the end of the semester she hits you with a 30 to 40 page project and test the last week. extra credit is not worth it 5 to 10 page essays.
I don't understand some of these comments. She was my favorite professor. You have to work for your grade. Read the book do the assignments and study and you will do fine. I took the Friday class. Great lectures. She shows internet clips and videos. She tells stories but they are about what she's teaching. She really encourages participation.
I thought I wouldn't get through a political science class. It was hard but the prof was always available in her office or after class to help. When i emailed her she got back to me same day. You have to read and come to class and do the homework to pass. Three tests but you get a study guide and a cheat sheet. Good class do NOT use your cellphone
I took her for winter session very passionate knows her subject. She is never boring! She likes students and doesnt talk down to us. She has real world experience & uses current events as practical application to explain political points. I think she leans left but always lets students voice their different opinion. Allows notes for test.
Take Prof Armour! You wont be sorry. There is homework and a term paper, but so doable! You learn so much, she's worth it. She is strict on cellphone don't use it in class. Shows good films so woke! Takes roll so come to class. Three tests but you get a study guide and notes are OK. Be prepared for surprise class debates but they're mostly fun.
POLITICAL SCIENCE 1 SUMMER CLASS: It is a VERY vigorous course. There were days where I didnt sleep just to finish my assignments. Once, she assigned an exam on Monday and a 40-page project due on Tuesday. Professor Armour is a great professor who genuinely cares about you succeeding. ALWAYS ANSWERS HER EMAILS. BUY THE BOOK, IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD
Took it during the summer. Her class was super easy. She lectures through powerpoints & we watched some films. Sends powerpoints & study guides to students. The study guides are exactly like the exam & you are allowed to have a cheat sheet so easy 100% on the 3 exams. Also extra credit is given. Easy assignments. Kind of boring, easy A.
Took summer school. It was intense but I learned so many things. I thought the class would be boring but she makes poly sci relate to everyday life. Need to read the book and come to class. She is strict on cellphones. Homework is not hard but you have to do it. Exams require studying but you get study guide and cheat sheet. An A is doable.
She really explained the subject in a way I understood. I thought it would be boring but I learned alot. Dont use cellphone in class. Tests are fair. She lets you use a study guide and cheat sheet. If you study you will get a good grade. Read the book. She is always available to help. Answers email right away. She wants you to pass the class.
Took her spring class. She explains everything. No surprises. Uses power points that she sends to us. You need to read the book. She'll yell if you use the cell phone. Tests are not hard if you study. She gives extra credit.
Loved her lectures but honestly she was hard. She does explain things but she expects a lot. But I did learn a lot about politics that I didnt know. Lots of films. The tests are not bad and you get a study guide and cheat sheet. Get ready to write. She likes essays. Be prepared for class discussion.
She is a good teacher and you'll learn alot but you need to show up to class. Roll is taken everyday and its part of the grade. Great lectures. She has worked in politics and has good stories there that make the class interesting. You do have to do a lot of work including a term paper but that was interesting to do. She's always available by email.
I loved her class. But she does make you work hard for a grade. Don't expect to show up and pass. She grades on attendance too. You have to read the book too. You need to do a term paper. It is not hard but it does require some research. Good lectures. Always can reach her by email. I definitely recommend.
Get the book and read it. Do the homework. Then you'll pass the class. The class participation was interesting and fun. You have to do a term paper, but its very individual. I would definitely recommend. She gives homework.
Professor Armour is A Gem of A Teacher and She really takes you on a journey and inspires you to achieve greatness, I cant recommend her enough.
Allows a cheat sheet for exams and emails out a study guide with whats exactly on the exam. I had the book but never used it or opened it. Made my cheat sheet by looking up answers and looking at the power points she emailed out. Also available after class for any questions you have. Definitely recommend !
Take her class. I highly recommend. She really cares about students. She takes the time to explain. She gives homework, three exams, a term paper. Study guide and cheat sheet for tests. She will help you. Attendance is mandatory. Best to get the book.
Took her for winter, I bought the textbook but never used it. Allows a cheat sheet and emails out power points and a study guide with whats exactly going to be on the exam. Three exams and one term paper. She gives you points for attendance and has extra credit opportunities. Definitely recommend.
Took her for summer school. Fast paced but she explains everything. Lectures are interesting. Shows some films. Takes roll. Homework. Three exams. Term paper. All doable.
This class was an easy A. Get the book and take notes in class and do the study guide and do the cheat sheet. She grades on attendance. No surprises.
You get everything you need to pass. study guide, cheat sheet. She lays it all out. Goes over the homework and sends slides on the lectures. You get marked down if you don't come to class. She shows some films. Some homework is on the films. There's a term paper that isn't hard.
If it matches your schedule you should take her. I had to drop another 101 class and she added me even though it was almost 2 weeks into the semester. She let me catch up so it wouldn't effect my grade. I thought I would hate political science but I really looked forward to her class she made things relate to politics right now. Homework. 3 exams
I had her last semester. I don't have any classes now that I liked as much as hers. Lectures are good. Assignments are easy. You do need to read the book. You lose points if you don't come to class. Good films. Some homework, 3 exams and a term paper. Very doable and not boring class.
I loved her class. She knows a lot of things and cares about students. She really wants you to succeed. I emailed her so many times and she always got back with what I needed. There is a lot of work, but this is college so what else would you expect. You take away a lot from her class. I wish she had other classes here I would take her again.
Good lectures and very helpful, but beware of the heavy workload. 3 tests: 35 multiple choice questions, 4 short answers , and an essay. Provides study guide and allows a cheat sheet. Come with your answers prepared! 5 hw assignments and a midterm paper that'll be around 25-30 pages. Work is doable, don't wait last minute! Pretty easy grader.
Great lectures, all kinds of stuff I didnt understand about politics. She does give homework and a term paper and you need to read the book but you leave the class knowing a lot. 3 exams but you get a study guide and cheat sheet. It was my best college class so far. I wish she taught other classes.
She is great!! She knows a lot about poly science and she tries to make you understand as a student that everything is political. You watch a few films, a couple of homework assignments, and 1 project. All homework was graded fairly and 3 tests (are not cumulative - including final) and gives study guides and a cheat sheet on test day. she's a gem
She was my favorite professor at LAVC. Her lectures are so relevant to today. She does give homework but its not hard. One term paper and three exams. Final is not cumulative and she gives a study guide and cheat sheet is allowed. You do need to get the book and read it. Come to class or your grade will drop.
Not recommended
I have her for summer school. She's great. Easy class - 3 homework assignments, 3 exams and you get a study guide and a cheat sheet and there is extra credit (I earned more than 100% on the first exam), and a term paper. I have learned so much in this class that matters. Other history/civics classes were boring and irrelevant. Just take her.
I LEARNED A LOT IN HER CLASS. SHE KNOWS A LOT. SHE TALKS A LOT ABOUT POLITICS TODAY AND WHY ITS RELEVANT. SHE DOES GIVE WORK, BUT HEY IT'S COLLEGE SO DEAL DEAL WITH IT AND LEARN FROM IT. SHE WAS MY BEST TEACHER AT LAVC. ATTENDANCE MATTERS. NO MAKE UP EXAMS. EXTRA CREDIT. HOMEWORK. THREE EXAMS THAT ARE NOT CUMULATIVE. GIVES A STUDY GUIDE.
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is not the easiest. There is homework and a term paper that requires some effort. She respects students and does A LOT to help you succeed. Good feedback. Will get back to you by email. Will meet you in her office. 3 exams with a study guide no surprises. You can use notes for the test. Take her.
She is good. Take her. Knows her stuff. Not boring. Interesting films. I had her for summer school. Very fast paced. She gives homework but it is relevant. Need to read the book. Study guide provided. Notes OK for exams. A term paper on special interest groups, your choice of topic. Always gets back when you email.
She's a gem. She keeps helping you until you get it. Politics actually is interesting to me now. She does give homework and a term paper that requires some effort. This was not my easiest class but I still liked it the best. Three exams and you can bring notes. Good films and film clips to help explain what she's talking about.
What can i say, This class for Summer is a very fast paced. Be prepare to DO A LOT of WORK. The political passport project is the hardest. It takes a lot of your time. If you do not do your political passport your grade will go very low. Her exams are easy, She gives a cheat sheet for the 3 exams. SHOW up to class or She takes points off .
I have never had a teacher like her. I thought the class would be another stupid boring requirement. It was really interesting because it was real. I could understand how politics relates to me. Be prepared to work. She demands a lot. Homework, term paper, 3 exams but you get a study guide and can have notes. Interesting films.
Amazing professor! She def gives a LOT of work for summer session, but her lectures were incredibly interesting. She made politics relate to everyday life and all the films were cool. Despite all the assignments, it's one of my favorite classes ever. I wish she taught more classes at LAVC. Take her if you want to understand politics better. :)
Great professor! Had her for summer session. Never boring. She does give a lot of work, but its work that makes sense and you learn A LOT about politics. She ended the class with Look what you know now that you didnt know 5 weeks ago and it was an incredible amount. Def recommend!
Incredible professor! I DEF recommend!!! Full disclosure: she is not the easiest, but you will LEARN! And what you learn is kinda mind blowing about politics. She covers so much and makes it matter to students and explains how it all relates to today. DO NOT use your cellphone in class.
She is one of my favorites ever a great professor that really knows the subject material. She is interesting and entertaining. Always available after class or by email. Be aware she will make you work for your grade. Attendance matters. dont use your cellphone in class. She will call you out on it. Easy homework. Three exams with study guides
Professor Armour runs a great class. I took her for the 101 class. She does expect you to come to class but its worth it for her lectures and films. She gives a homework assignment about once a month i would have done better if I had done mine. Tests were not hard if you just look at the study guide. There's a term paper, not hard, but its work.
I LOVED her. She made me look forward to a political science class -- which is something that I NEVER thought I would like. I signed up because I had to take it. She gives homework but its really interesting and challenging. She allows notes for the test and gives a study guide. DO NOT USE YOUR CELLPHONE IN CLASS.
She's amazing. Take her. Her lectures are great. She also cares about students and will work with you. Poly sci is hard. She gets that but she will still expect you to act like a college student. Its not a free ride. show up or lose points. Do your homework, which is NOT hard. Three exams with notes. I never learned so much from any class.
She is a professor that actually cares. Take her. I def recommend. My other professors dont even know my name. I was not doing good and i was going to drop. She sat in her office with me for 2 hours helping me study for the midterm test. The extra time helped me understand. Then I did better and i passed the class instead of having to take it over
Get into her class. She's the best teacher I have had at Valley. She is tough on grading and DO NOT use your cellphone in class. She goes ballistic. Get the book, 3 exams, plus homework, plus a term paper. She does give a study guide and you can have notes for the test. She is good with office hours and very helpful there if you need extra time.
Great prof. definitely recommend. Dont use your cellphone in class she will go ballistic. amazing films. interesting homework. 3 exams. a term paper. some homework. its not the easiest class but you will be amazed at how much you learn.
Great professor. Makes you work for your grade. Homework, term paper, 3 exams. Not a class for a free ride but you will learn A LOT. I looked forward to her class. She is current and makes you think. Dont use your cellphone in class or play solitaire in your laptop. Good films.
Great prof, but you WILL work for your grade. Attendance is a must. There is homework but its interesting and matters to politics here and now. I actually understand this election. She makes you feel smarter. I would have gotten a better grade if i did all the homework. There's a term paper but you learn because its not stupid busywork. Recommend.
Awesome professor! I had signed up for a face to face class that went online with Covid19. I almost dropped but I am glad I didnt. I thought political science would be boring but she makes it really interesting with YouTube clips that show what shes talking about. Lots of homework but it makes you think about things that really matter right now.
I dropped another class to take hers. A good choice for me. I was really struggling in the other class. If you dont get something she will explain again and more after class if you need it. You will learn SO MUCH in her class. She gives a lot of homework but its on things that matter. Real politics. Real life.
Great professor. Loved her lectures. She has a lot of stories to illustrate the points and concepts that she is teaching about. Lots of homework. Study for the exams and you will be fine. She is fair on grading. I got what I deserved. My grade would have been better but I didn't do all the homework. My bad. Extra credit for learning ASL.
Great prof. There is a lot of homework, but its not hard. three exams. She shows films on things that I had no idea about. I loved her lectures. She sends power points ahead of time. She makes time for students when they want to talk about things. I have had other professors who never want students to talk.
Very knowledgeable.
Amazing lectures. You will learn so much. Classes are on Canvas. Homework every week. 3 tests. She will stay after class with you if there are things you need to go over.
Great professor, you will learn a lot the work load isnt bad at all, you will have to work for your grade but over all its a great class and I would definitely take it again!
She is very knowledgeable about politics. Great lectures. Lots of homework. You will learn a lot from this professor.
Amazing professor. Knows her stuff. Covers a lot of ground. You will learn a lot. Homework every week. Tests arent hard.
She was a great teacher, her class was discussion based and she wanted people to give their opinions. For homework, she assigned ed a film and made you reflect and answer some questions. Tests were not hard, need to stay in class for participation points. Overall, good class.
I loved this class. Even with online learning, Prof Armour makes the course material very easy to understand. Attendance is mandatory. Just do the work and go to class in order to get your desired grade; she also offers extra credit.
This was my favorite class. Very interesting. No political subject was off limits. Homework that makes you think. Welcomes student opinion. Three exams. Some extra credit.
GOOD PROFESSOR. INTERESTING LECTURES. BEST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD.
My favorite professor. Good class.
I took her back in the winter semester. You will definitely learn new things about politics, especially how to create a ballot initiative. That would be part of your research paper. Not to scare you with that but she gives you plenty of time.
this class felt more like a pleasure to attend than a burden (considering it was a morning class). the lectures are really interesting & insightful & never feel boring. there is one hw assignment every week and 3 tests all semester. you have to show up to class though, she has a way to check. u have no reason to fail if u do the hw and go to class
Great prof. Loved her lectures. She teaches that politics isnt boring its juicy. I so much better understood the things that are happening now because of her class. Beware there is homework every week, but it it makes you think. 3 exams. Come to class or your grade will drop.
One of my best professors I have ever taken classes with! Her teachings and lectures are simply terrific. If you want to learn on political science is without biases then this is your professor. She will teach you the correct way, she is seasoned experienced professor on the material. Not a moment to waste on her lectures, she is awesome!
This prof is fantastic with lecture. You learn so much about politics in a way that it finally makes sense. Lots of homework but its interesting subjects. Three exams. Take her.
Amazing professor. great lectures and she actually invites comments from students. she will pause the lecture to answer your question or feedback. she is homework heavy but it is always interesting assignments not the usual where it feels like busy work. three exams. lots of reading and slides that she supplies.
Professor Armour knows her stuff and makes a hard subject very interesting. I look forward to her lectures. Homework is always some kind of essay where you have to really look at something political and comment on it. But you will learn SO MUCH. Lots of homework. Three exams that are not cumulative.
Professor Armour was amazing. She made the material interesting and relatable. She provided a lot of opportunities for group interaction and kept zoom courses interesting.
Very thoughtful and awesome professor! All the time available and extremely helpful. Her lectures raise multiple social issues and truly teach you to think and be rational!
Great prof. You will learn sooo much. Lots of homework but its thinking work not busy work. Absolutely awesome lectures. Uses power points. Grades on accumulated points. Some extra credit. Three exams. Text book is not bad. Follow homework guidelines or she will really mark down.
Fantastic professor. Lectures really keep your interest. She uses a lot of Power points and films that keep your attention. Be prepared for lots of homework. I would have gotten a higher grade if i turned in all the assignments. She answers your questions and gets back on emails. Three exams. The book is not terrible. Dont miss class.
I don't understand why there are so many positive reviews. One of the worst Professors. Demands too much useless work, Is super arrogant and condescending. Get your Science credit by taking another class. This is coming from a student who loves POL SCI.
SHE IS GOOD. I looked forward to her classes. Always interesting lectures. You will have a lot of homework and writing, be warned, but she gives feed back. Three multiple-choice exams. The book is an easy read. Shows lots of clips on politics and current events.
Fantastic professor. Extremely interesting lectures and thorough feedback on assignments. The grading scale isn't too tough; just follow her instructions precisely and you'll be fine. Lots of writing and essays, and attendance is mandatory. Overall one of the best professors I've ever had, and I recommend her to absolutely anyone.
Took professor Armour's class online during spring 2021. Hands down one of the best classes I've taken at Valley! If you need to take political science, I'd recommend Prof Armour! Although there are lots of papers, the subject is always so interesting, it doesn't feel like homework.
Prof Armour is just so real. Amazing lectures. knows her stuff. I thought i would hate poli sci and waited until summer school to take the class and just get it over with. I loved this class. I LEARNED SO MUCH. She does assign a lot of homework but its really interesting and it makes you think. three exams and she gets back right away to emails
I loved her. I looked forward to this online class. I learned so many things. She makes it all interesting and no holds barred. Be ready for a lot of homework. Exams are all m/c.
Amazing professor. I waited until my last semester at Valley because I thought I would HATE political science. I LOVED her class. Be forewarned you need to come to class and participate. Lots of homework but its not busywork. It makes you think. Three m/c exams. She'll stay after class if you need extra help.
Prof Armour is a gem. This was my second try at poly sci. What a difference!!! It is definitely a tricky subject but she will work with you. She actually answers emails and will meet with you after class. Show up and do the work you will pass
Great class. You have to show up or shell drop you. Lots of homework. The good part is a not boring class. She mixes it up with slides and lectures and videos. Three exams that are easy if you study.
GREAT CLASS. Be ready to work. A LOT of writing. Not the usual kind of textbook. Class lectures get deep. She lets you express yourself but she will challenge you to support your words. Homework essays 3 m/c exams
Fantastic professor. A warning though there is a lot of essay homework but you write on interesting political topics. I learned SO much from this class. She allows for group discussion like if something is really interesting to the class and they want to talk more about it. The book has a lot of information and it is a political eye opener.
Very reasonable teacher. Lots of progressive thinking in this class. Nothing bad to say
This was my second try at poly sci. I went from a D to an A. Heads up she has lots of homework and writing. Her lectures are so interesting. It's things that matter. Things we should learn in high school. Tests are all m/c and not hard. just do the reading and take some notes in class. everything she lectures about is on canvas. I so recommend her.
Very interesting course. Her approach ties in the politics happening right now so things make sense. Homework is all essay but the topics are totally relatable. She gives feedback on assignments and answers emails.
Professor Armour has this spunk to her and a way of relaying stories and lectures that truly will move you. She is pretty strict with attendance so keep that heavily in mind. This class is also very heavy on the homework aspect, many essays and readings and film watching. You will learn a lot though and it will be internally rewarding.
Great professor. She is not easy but you learn about things that matter in real life. Shows a lot of clips and explains things that are happening now. Lots of essays. Easy m/c exams.
Professor Armour is very passionate and informative on the subject. She is an older professor so she is not the most tech savvy, but she tries. You also may need to speak louder so she can hear you. Homework consists of essays, it gets a bit tedious at times. There are only 3 exams in total, all very easy to pass if you took notes during lectures.
Lots of lecture. Lots of writing. Interesting topics. Films. Encourages discussion. Attendance mandatory. I would take her again.
Completely useless and irrelevant topic's for homework. Just about every day, she brings up trump. Ignorance in this class runs rampant, with students complaining about a president and their past allegations, while openly admitting to voting for another pres because they hated the other guy. Lol
At first the homework will seem weird and random, but then it all ties together by the last assignment. I learned so much in this class. But be warned she expects A LOT from students. DO NOT be late to class. The book is really cheap to buy. Tests are m/c
Love her! Lots of essay writing, but most of the topics were interesting, and she likes to hear your opinion on things, not just talk about biased information like other teachers do. Show up to class and talk because it is part of the grade and she will give you extra points for talking about/teaching her things she didn't know.
Professor Armour course revolves around essays every week. The home work is not to difficult as long as you follow the questions. The course really opens your eyes to the issues in society past and present. She gives alot of opportunity to gather extra credit and past the class. Just make sure you show up to class every day, and stay off your phone
Loved her. Great class. Some things to know: do NOT be late. DO NOT use your cellphone in class. Interesting assignments. They are all essays. DO NOT submit AI she will call you out. Really liked the videos that she relates to class work. Book is low cost and easy to read. My advice is to take her. You will learn a LOT.
She gives you her perspective on various political topics. She sometimes makes the entire class rev up about talking politics. Know that she grades your essays strictly so make sure to meet all of her criteria. She gives you a week per essay. And one more thing, DON'T use your phone! She'll put you on the spot. Her exams are open notes.
This class is a challenge, with lots of writing and engagement, but the professor makes it really interesting. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for my study prep. Tests are straightforward, just put in the work.
I loved Professor Armour. She was very helpful and wanted nothing more than her students to succeed in her class. She allows you to send your essay to her before you submit and gives you great advice on how to fix it up if it needs fixing. Class consist of 10 essays be prepared to read and watch long films.
Professor Armour was very helpful. I am not a fan about politics, but she did make it very interesting. She takes the time out of her day to grade your essays before you submit them and gives great feedback.10 essays are required to pass her class.Only thing I didn't like was a long films. You don't have to know a lot about politics to pass her class
Great professor, AMAZING lectures, you do have to do long essays, but they are really fun to do.
I loved her class so much!! She's very open to hearing opinions different than hers. Her lectures were really informative and her homework was very interesting, but had a lot of questions. Also don't be late. Other than that, amazing professor highly recommended you take her class.
Professor Armour is fantastic! She inspires critical thinking and opens your eyes to new perspectives. Her passion for teaching makes every class engaging and enjoyable. She's approachable, supportive, and always ready to help. Her teaching style encourages growth and makes complex ideas easier to understand.
Very interesting woman; i'd say quirky, for sure. Deeply invested and passionate in the topic, and takes her lectures very seriously. Doesn't like it when anyone is late or uses the restroom during class. Stickler for attendance. 1k word essay first week of class.
Professor Armour is very strict and goes on rambling about anything she wants to talk about. There are very few assignments, one per week; however, that one assignment is around 10-15 essay questions. She doesn't let you use the bathroom and forget about using your phone; she'll slam, yes SLAM, your desk and yell at you. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!
She does have heavy lectures with lots of content but they are mostly interesting and informative. Do not be late to class. NEVER use your cell phone in class she is VERY strict on this. I did learn a lot of what she called juicy stuff that I didn't know. Easy textbook. Hard but I recommend.
