If you are a pre- health science you are gonna HAVE to have Ballal unless you plan to take it else where over the summer. The class is fun and he is HILARIOUS!! However, the material is beyond difficult! STUDY HARD!!! EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT! FEW A's.

Very fun to have in class. Yes, the final is hard, but if you study the review questions, you should do alright. Warning: You will have to study! Not an easy A, but it is possible. I got one!

If you study the reviews at the end of the chapters you'll do fine on tests.. Except the final... study EVERYTHING!! It's tough!

Awesome class. Don't EVER miss class, he knows who is there and who is not. He'll pick on you alot if you are hardcore against evolution. Funny guy, he'll remember you even a year later. Get a good lab instructor and it will be easier.

I learned a lot from his class even though his tests were easy. His lectures were enjoyable and because you don't have to alway worry about your grade you can sit back and enjoy them. It's a good class if you are willing to take it upon yourself to learn.

O.K. Biology 1010 was not that hard if your study the review questions, like you are supposed (and told) to do. I have heard that his upper division courses are very hard. So, I am only speaking on the lower level here. GO to class, he will notice!!!

He's pretty good about making sure people understand what he's saying. He gives you a chance to say if you don't understand something. If people don't understand it's their own fault. He's hysterical too!

He is an awesome teacher. Love going to his class everyday, would hate to miss it.

He's awesome! He cares about the students and the world around him. Teaches so that we apply our minds rather than just know the facts. Only 2 tests, but he gives a curve. Study and listen. He cracks on Brittany Spears too!!

He is a great teacher. Even though he would argue certain issues, he is just trying to force one to think about why he or she has that belief. His class is the only science class that I could ever have cared so much to go to. Just relax.

You are always on call in his class... you had better know the answers! Study his old tests and read all of the book... all of it. Lecture material very useful in clearing up anything you didn't get from the book. He really knows his stuff so prove you are worthy of having your questions answered

Ballal will make your head hurt just walking down the stairs to his class. If you are not used to thinking, you are in for a rude awakening. DO NOT miss any lectures or labs. Read the book. Take very good notes in class. Review the old exams. Pray everyday that he will not call on you in class.

Dr. Ballal is great. Class is so informative; even funny. He will call you out. Just be prepared to go with it when he does. Be prepared to learn more about the world around you, not just Biology. Do not let your cell phone ring in class. He will fail you for this.

Ballal is very blunt and can be considered rude by those who don't understand his methods. I loved his class and thought he was amazing.

he definitely makes you think alot and question things. he's funny and seems difficult but he's really trying to help his students out. calling you out in class keeps you concentrating.

This is class is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Keep your grades up in lab, find old tests to study and review. This helps out A LOT.

Ballal is a good professor. He tries to help you the best way he can. You show up for class you'll be ok. He only gives you 4 days to miss. His tests are easy. it took me failing the first one to see that 90% of the test questions come from the end of the chapter questions. If you do good on the test and pretty good in lab you will pass. take this.

Easy answer...take him. Test are easy if you "read" the questions in the book. He tries to entertain students in class, can be viewed as rude, but w/ 200 per class, what do you expect when he is trying to make a point to EVERYONE. EASY EASY EASY class. people who don't like him don't come to class...period, even though you really don't have too.

Dr. Ballal is slightly unorthodox, in comparison to most of TTU's biology professors. His lectures stray from the material a lot, but they are interesting. Everything you need to know for the tests is usually on his old tests so be sure to get copies. Lab is easy so use it to boost your grade and you'll do fine.

Dr. Ballal is one of the people I count as a main influence and inspiration for me to earn a PhD and become a successful university researcher. Dr. Ballal taught me critcal thinking skills, self-directed learning, and independence. When he told ME that I would not get into graduate school, I HEARD in parentheses (unless you work your butt off).

Most of you above on this site -- are full of it!!! I took SK a while ago, clearly one of the best teachers around, at any level and at any place -- even po-dunk, TTU. So get with it, cut yer crap and learn something. After reading a few of these complaints, I'm GLAD you ain't gonna be my docter. What a bunch of losers!!!

Dr Ballal is a lot of fun and really knows his stuff. The material covered is difficult, but he relates the science to you to make it interesting. He tells some crazy stories, but pay attention, because that story may come up again later in class or even on a test.

One of the best professors that any college can offer you. He knows his material and really tries to make his students think. Although sometimes he is hard to understand and has very odd view points about some of the things going on the world.

The best part of Dr. Ballal's class was his lectures. He is a very entertaining speaker. His tests were extremely easy; all the material is contained within the chapter reviews.

I think Kris is freakin hilarious and I love his sassy objections to everything but man this class is hard. I nearly failed. He asks questions at random. luckily the only one he called me out to answer was "WOULD YOU BE OKAY WITH HAVING A SHEEPS HEART!???" he does send you some very funny emails though.

Hes really funny, but you better be ready to do some serious studying, his class is no joke, and unless your a Biology major, it's really hard.

This class was extremely hard, but I loved Dr. Ballal. He curved my grade to an A when I really had a B because I didn't miss class and I worked hard. So as long as you study every night from notes and the textbook, and you go to class every day, you will be fine. Dr. Ballal is a great guy!

geez...you guys are being too hard on poor Dr. Ballal. Ok, so his class is a little boring and pointless, but you have to admit, he's pretty hilarious at times. He gives two exams, and that's the only work you'll do for the entire semester. Take a few random notes in class, read your book (specifically the chapter summaries) and you'll get an A.

Great class if you realy want to learn. This class is making my Psy class a lot easer.

Yes, he has an accent, but he has been teaching in the usa for a long time and he is very understandable. Something very cool is that there are 200 students in my class and he knew all of our names within the first week. He's a great teacher. He makes the class fun and exciting.

What can I say? He is a great teacher, in my opinion. Makes the class fun. He does count on attendance. He can remember where you sit and your name pretty quickly. Fun class, but make sure to take note of random facts that he states in class and out of the book. He likes to ask on tests things that you would normally not pay attention to.

Very difficult to make good grades, but his lectures were always pretty interesting. Keep up with the textbook - the exams cover virtually everything from the book, and many things he doesn't cover in lectures.

I don't know why people have an issues with him. Dr. Ballal is very intelligent and very helpful. He WILL single out people and ask questions that are sometimes unclear but it's not like that has any weight on your grade. He is very entertaining, I'm taking him again next semester.

He is not the professor to take if you are looking for an easy grade. He is hard, but so funny and crazy smart. I have learned so much in his class without realizing it. You have to do a lot of studying on your own to pass, and attendance is very important. Take him if you are up for a challenge.

Dr. Ballal is not easy, but then we are in college. He will tell some really funny stores in class. The only bad part are the tests. If you take him be prepared to study A LOT! If you do have questions he will try his best to help you figure them out. Overall he is pretty funny, crazy and will make you laugh or cry.

This man is backed by the "big man upstairs." He is not always easy, but he is worth it. He'll prepare you for the rest of your life. You'll leave this class knowing things you wish you never knew. For this class if the road to destruction is filled with good intentions, then the road to awesome is filled with suffering. Take this class!

READ YOUR BOOK!! You don't really have to come to class. He's only taken attendance twice! Some of the many random things he says in class go on the final or midterm! Um... THERE ARE ONLY 2 TESTS !! BUT.... if you get atleast a 50 your good to go! MOST DEFINITELY READ THE BOOK!!!!!!!!! FUNNY, FUNNY GUY! COULD BE AN ASS THO. :D

Dr. Ballal is incredibly intelligent and an extremely passionate scientist. He seems difficult to approach, but he really isn't. You need to ask educated questions to get a respectable response from him. I think he has lost faith in humanity, then again I somewhat understand based off of the questions and responses that were given to him in class

Many students probably would say he rambles on about nonsense. But if you pay close attention, he correlates the material with real life stories. If he stood in front of class and "rambled on" about biology even less people would show up. Get use to teaching yourself the material....it's college. Very EASY class. Do the study guides and read.

Dr. Ballal was one of my favorite instructors. His lectures are more allegorical; demonstrating how biology relates to life. He applies a grading curve and if one does well in lab, attends class, takes notes, and reviews the emailed study guides, one should receive a good grade. He's approachable but blunt, which is a reflection of his nationality.

This class will not satisfy your "give me" desires. You must read the book, and you must show up to class. Ballal indicates when something will show up on midterm/final. If you pay attention, you'll know. Those who are complaining are the same people who expect to tweet in class AND pass. Anyway, I made a B on the midterm. It's not impossible.

I learned a lot taking Dr. Ballal's Biology 1010 class. He is a very funy guy and he might call on you and be sarcastic, be sarcastic right back and you might gain his respect. His tests comes straight from the study guides. Attendance is not mandatory but he recognizes the ones who come to class. Very intelligent man

Ballal is a funny guy. He is very smart and knows what he is talking about. He teaches at a high level and can be hard to keep up with. Tests are hard, but make sure you read the book and do the study guides, usually what the test is made up of.

I'm a senior & I had heard awful stories about him. Here's the truth: I can see why he would be intimidating to freshmen. He wants you to have an answer ready when he calls on you (which he will) His tests are straight from the book/study guides - I did better in his class than I did in my first bio class. I personally thought he was hilarious.

I made an A in his 1010 and currently making a B in his 1020. The rambling he does is true but make fun of people. He wants to make sure you're paying attention to what he's saying. He gives study guides for every chapter and the tests are word for word from the study guides. Take him, do the study guides and you'll never have to go to class.

Great Teacher. Lectures were very entertaining and he will call on you so pay attention to what he says. Two test that came straight from study guides and a couple questions from book and lecture. If you fail this class you have to be lazy.

This course was definitely one of the more interesting biology classes that I have taken to say the least. The course content is somewhat difficult, but Dr. Ballal is great!

Ballal is a great teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable, absolutely hilarious, and opinionated, but he doesn't cover much of the test material in class. The only way to pass this class is read the textbook cover-cover and use study guides from past years. The tests are INSANELY specific, I could not imagine taking one without an old study guide.

Listen.. Ballal is not that bad. Now I had him back in 2016 but I suck at Biology!! He knows that most are business majors just taking it to get the credit. THE TESTS ARE THE STUDY GUIDES. All you have to do is go to class. If you like biology and want to learn more, dont take this professor. If you want an easy A and have fun doing it take Ballal.

If you want to go to med school (or nursing, or PA, or...) get a good rec from him. Go to class, don't text.

Ballal is an EASY A. Your final grade comes from the midterm/final/lab.. STUDY THE STUDY GUIDE OR YOU WILL FAIL ( many versions on quizlet. Take the tests seriously. He realizes that nobody is a biology major and wants you to do well. He will throw in questions from lectures (random facts but he elaborates so easy to remember)
