I loved him as a teacher. Some students didn't get along with him well because of his somewhat liberal leanings, although I didnt mind. He is easy...much easier than Milowitz, but expects class participation. I made a B in the class and never studied for one test, not even the final. Just show up

I am very impressed with Kris's enthusiasm and democratic teaching practices. I enjoy having a part and being allowed to voice my own opinions openly. I would recommend him.

Great Teacher! He loves for people to talk in class, so be prepared. I studied a lot and pulled a B. He's fair in his grading and helps very much in any questions that you must have.

The notes never go along with his tests, yet the tests are not hard at all. He gives you the test questions a week ahead of time, so you know what your test is over. Overall, I would def. take him because he's pretty easy, even though you may fall asleep in his class, its the easiest...

I also had him for the Citizenship colloqium. He's definetely turned out to be my favorite professor at Gordon of all 2 yrs. He's very smart and really knows his stuff, just have an opinion and be able to back it up no matter what it is, and you will do fine. I recommend him, but only if you like to write and if you like politics.

Beck has been my favorite teacher so far! He seems to really care about his students. He will help if you have a problem and he does his very best to make his class interesting and entertaining. I highly recommend him!!

he is an awsome guy who's willing to help out and gives you ample opertunity to get help if you need it. i loved his class it was 1 of the few classes i looked forward to going to, yes he is tough on you but that's how he teaches. i seriously recommend for anyone who needs to take american gov't to take his class

Kris is an awesome teacher. His classes are kinda boring yet he makes it not as boring by making jokes and laughing and stuff like that. His tests sometimes have nothing to do with the notes you take in class but he gives you the test a week before the actual test. The tests are essay over 2 questions and they were not that hard, IF YOU STUDIED

Very nice guy--a Yankee though. Still-he is super nice and knowledgeable. The class is an essay-based class. It was pretty tough, and class participation was a must. Go to class, read, and you should do well.

this class isnt hard, if you dont mind writing. the class is esssay based so its all opinion. if you studie the question and all the info that goes with them, the tesets arent hard because all you have to do is defend your thoguhts. not hard, take it, its kinda fun. his jokes are lame though.

Really enjoyed the class. Great guy and is knowledgeable. All essay test, but they are opinions. Be talkative and laugh at his comics in the begging of class. I highly suggest his class!!

Kris is a great guy and a fun teacher. He breaks the ice with his some-what lame jokes and comics. Deep down he's a kid that knows a lot about politics. He really knows his stuff and is more than willing to help. Just act like your paying attention and you'll do fine. I'm taking him agian next semm.I'd have to say he does favor girls over guys.

I took Dr. Beck for two classes. I made an A in one and a B in the other. Studied a little...not as much as i should have...probally why I made a B in one of his classes. Opens class with comics that are good ice breakers.

I had Dr. Beck for State & Local Govt. He does teach from the projector a little too much, but I think he would provoke more discussion if he thought his students would participate. The tests are essay and you better have an opinion and be able to support it. His class may not be for you if you don't actually have an opinion on politics.

Dr. Beck is a good professor and is really knowledgeable about the government. I'm not interested in politics at all and I barely studied and still got a B. His tests are only essays but if you can support what you write then you'll get a good grade. His comics at the beginning of class aren't funny but laugh anyway. I would recommend taking him.

Good teacher! I took two classes with him. I made an A in one, but a B in the other. I probably could have had an A if I had studied more for the second class. He is good, though. Gives essay tests, and he gives you all the possible questions. All you have to do is study and know them.

Took him for Govt. Awesome teacher!! We had so many fun classroom discussions!! He is cute in his own lil short, red head, sweaty kind of way. All tests are opinion essays!!

I recommend you taking him if you like reading because his questions come from the book (all of them) and the essay really isn't that hard its opinion just back it up w/ facts. Also do his assignments and the presentation. Easy grades. It's a lot of info, but you'll know you politics!TAKE HIM!

Very Easy...Tests are Opinion based and 25 multiple choice. POLS was not in my intersts. in fact anything taken by him was not in my interest. Lots of papers and very Demanding which is cool as long as your not taking 18 credit hours for two semesters straight like i did! stongly reccomend!

I thought he was arrogant at first, but by the end of the semester his class was my favorite. He is witty, and a great teacher. I have little interest in political science but he made things interesting. His tests weren't unbearable or something; for the essay questions, if you know the material, you can find a lot of ways to support your answer.

He tries to intimidate you at first, but his class isn't that difficult. Make sure you print the notes for the semester b/c he goes over them everyday. No quizzes, tests are fairly simple. The info on tests is mostly from the notes, but sometimes from textbooks. You'll have to do a presentation.

Just like many other professors, he sets his expectations high and wants everyone to have an interest in politics, but he is not mean and is very easy-going. The past two semesters that I've had him, I really haven't studied or attended class regularly and I still manage to make A's and B's.

He is a cool guy but the subject he teaches sucks. He has a essay styled final which you have to write 4 essays in 2 hours. Tests are from notes/book so study. Project is hard so start it early.

Great teacher. He gives you extreamly well structured notes. You are an idiot if you show up to class and fail. He is nice and easy to talk to. I have to say I learned more in his class than in all the others combined! GREAT PROFESSOR!

Global Issues was the hardest class I had this semester, but I feel I learned so much. Attendance is "not mandatory" but if you don't attend class, consider yourself failing. Study groups before each test really helped a ton, because there is so much material covered.

He was a ok teacher but he was pretty hard. Don't come to class late because he will not let you come in and let you turn your homework in. If you don't read the book you might not pass his quizes. Unless you are really into american govt or enjoy reading i don't recommend this class for you.

He was a good professor. In order to get a good grade you have to be in class and do all the assignments. His grading system works so that if you don't do good on one exam you can still make an A in the class. He gives a lot of notes, and provides clear lectures. I found myself having to read the textbook to do good on his exams.

Dr. Beck is a good teacher, once you get past all the notes. Print them off instead of copying them down; I know it's a lot, but it will help. Don't be late to his class. The quizzes and the tests are practically straight from the book, so make sure you read what you're assigned. Do what you're supposed to and you'll be fine.

His class is very hard but very enjoyable. If you aren't used to respecting adults and respecting common courtesy don't take this class. Don't bring your phone to class and don't come in late! He makes it very interesting.

Dry humor and a little sarcastic, nothing you wouldn't expect from a politics teacher. He's tough and unrelenting, but fair. Quite willing to discuss and debate a little with a bit of banter, but always gets back on track. Only difficulty were the quizzes. Quizzes left me scratching my head even though read textbook and online notes front to back.

Three tests per semester all you have to do is read and take notes. Beck offers office hours in order to help you. Online quizzes are a plus do to the fact that you are allowed to work together. The class is a breeze tests are just a tad hard.

Great Guy, and definitely knows the subject very well. You will probably have to work for a good grade, and use study groups--they'll help you get a better grasp on the material, or at least that worker for me.

Dr beck is pretty funny. If you go to office hours, he is willing to answer any questions on the subject and outside of it! Friendly, even if he doesnt seem like it!

Push the door, it sticks. He doesn't like tardiness, or cellphones. I suggest getting a voice recorder, and I HIGHLY suggest printing out the lecture outlines and taking notes on them. I hole punched all the pages and put them into a booklet. He follows the outlines, so. If you pay attention, you got it.

Okay, so let me just say i took him once and then chose him for 3 other courses because he is a wonderful teacher. His material isn't easy peasy but you can pass and he always grades with a curve. He uploads outlines to his website and he uses his office hours. He also loves sarcasm and TWD.

This was an online summer class, in a condensed semester. In about 5 weeks, there were 14 papers, and 4 exams (all with multiple essays). This is *NOT* the class to take if you can't write. That said, I feel like I pushed myself and really explored some new ideas. Dr. Beck was also open to differing opinions, as long as you can back them up.

A fun professor. I enjoyed his class. Be ready to read his assigned reading though. The class isn't too difficult with the reading, few tests, and the discussions every week are graded lightly and help your grade should you put forth effort into them. Humorous and knows his subject well, follows modern politics and cares about his subject.

I would recommend taking his class online. He makes you write a discussion every week but doesn't actually grade it. Pretty much if you post your discussion you will get a 100. Also has a quiz once a week but is only 10 questions and very easy. That is all you are required to do. I have heard that he is difficult in class but online is super easy.

Dr. Becks online state and local government class is very easy. Theres a textbook to go along with the class but I never used it. Just follow his specific guidelines for each discussion post and youll make an easy A!

Dr. Beck is a great professor. He answers questions in detail and explains material very well. Discussion and quiz were due the same day every week. Even though class was in person, all work was taken online. Even the exams were online, and you didn't have to be in class that day. Textbook, but it's mainly fluff. Just take notes during lectures.

Great class for an online class. Weekly discussion boards and one quiz a week. 3 major tests for the entire semester. Overall very cut and dry as to his grading and criteria. A moderate level of reading and writing was required, but overall, it was easy to receive an A in.

This class was honestly very Enjoyable, the work isn't difficult unless you actually enjoy government an politics, Don't take this class if your not informed or have an actual option on politics, Hes unbiased as long as your provided facts and statistics, to prove your political ideology. The test aren't proctored which was great, same as quizzes.

He's a really nice teacher. I took an 8 week course, he assigned 2 discussions and like 2 quizzes every week and half. His test aren't hard nor is his work, just pay attention and you'll be fine! He's a great teacher and really helpful.

He was an amazing professor to have and he clearly showed his love for the topic. All you had to do for him to like you was to just participate in the class. Take notes and listen and you should make a good grade on the test with fairly minimal studying.
